Babies Born December 2006 #2

Shez hope everything goes will at work, let us know how it goes I will be going through the same thing in a few months. I have just got in contact with my Manager and set up a meeting for 18 May to talk about when I'm going back. I am hoping they will let me go part time and possibly work from home for a day. If not I am going to talk to HR to see about working in a different division. They knew about me wanting to come back part time before I left but where acting a little strange when I left, saying I had not got their agreement about doing it. Silly me not taping the meeting, any way in a big organisation I should be able to move around. Gee I think I am still a little peeved about when I left.

Charly is trying to sit up on her own know lasts for a few seconds without falling down.

Chantal - Good to hear you had a good time away. How lovely to spend time at the beach. Hooray for parents group - I hope you enjoy it.
Shez - Eugh, back to work talk already! I hope it goes really well and you find the time away from home refreshing. I know what you mean about the cash - we're the same. I'm just in denial about having to go back just yet ;)
Jo - How is Angel? How's that tooth going?
Charly's Mum - I hope things work out for you with your work. I know how it can feel when management conveniently 'forget' past conversations. Really hope it resolves well for you.
We had a great week away, though it wasn't that much of a holiday, really. It was great to see my sister and BIL, and my best mate and her DH, but the rest of it was really hard. Natalie didn't sleep too well. We were sharing a room and the door and floorboards creaked really badly, so I'd finally get her off to sleep and then wake her up when I left the room :rolleyes:
It was REALLY hot - I used to love the heat but this time I just felt fat and sweaty. DH was out most of the time birdwatching, which I encouraged him to do because he's been working so hard, but he felt guilty because he was doing stuff without us etc etc and so I had to keep pretending to be having a good time for his sake so as not to upset him. By yesterday morning I was TRASHED! Last night in my own bed with my own pillow was absolute heaven. Natalie only woke once in the night and so we all had a brilliant sleep. Gosh, I'm such a homebody these days. But I can't help it - it seems I've become so dependent on our 'routine' in order to feel happy. Hopefully this is something I'll get over before our next holiday... (Had I have known what having a baby does to my head before, I wouldn't have planned two holidays in her first year of life, lol. That sounds pathetic, doesn't it. I should be so grateful. Never mind.)

The work conversation had to come sometime.....:wall: I have to look for a whole new job as I lost mine two weeks after I told them I was pregnant:( they said my position was no longer needed....yeah right! thats the wonderful thing about the new workplace laws, I didnt have a leg to stand on:wall:

Anyway my little ***** session over, an update on Maya...... she is turning on her stomach constantly, its sort of driving ME crazy as she doesnt know how to get back on her back so I am constantly turning her back over, then she just flips right back over again..........seems strange since the first turn she did was from stomach to back.......

No sign of teeth yet, same as charlys mum, Maya sits upright for a few seconds before tipping over 'oh so gradually'. She is finally swallowing her rice cereal, so now I have something to 'top her up' when she isnt due for a bottle but wants 'something'. I tried a rusk with her too but she just sucks and licks it for a minute then Wants her dummy back.

Angel is getting better ( I think) so maybe a bit of spare time for me!!!:crossfingers: she is, I've just about had enough of yuck, all over me & the lounge & the carpet & everywhere else too lol

Jo, sorry - is Angel sick? Is it the teeth that's making the 'yuck' ?
Heh heh. Natalie doesn't roll over yet either, though she 'clocks' around the floor - sometimes she ends up in a way different place to where I put her! Still won't roll further than on to her side.

Ah Chantal, there were a couple of relaxing moments, but I've got to say I breathed a sigh of relief at getting home. That was the most relaxing of all :)
Bummer about the job hunting. When we run out of money I'll be looking for a new job too I think. They haven't phoned me yet but I spoke to a collegue who's been sacked because the company's going bust! So its not looking good for me...

HI Amy, no not the tooth, pead thinks she make be lactose intolerant, been pretty bad both ends this past week & now we've changed to the LF formula, things haven't got that much better, poor little thing though she must feel dreadful, as do I watching her go through this.

Work was ok. Issy came in twice to feed so that made it even better.
Question how many feeds do all the babies have a day these days?

Shez, Angel has either 4 or 5 depends on if she sleeps in or not, usually she gets up at 8 & has another feed at 12, around 4, another around 8pm, but that's if she goes 4 hours otherwise she has 5.
Does that make any sense?

Storm hope Angel get better soon sound horrible.

Feeds Charly is still demand, in the morning when she get up is the longest she lasts about 3 to 4 hours then it every about every 2.5 to 3 hours. I think this is mainly teething and soothing, blaming everything on teething these days. Seem to be constant in the afternoon so I try to take her out to distract her.

So sorry about Angel, Jo. I hope the LF formula does the trick and she is better soon.
Shez, so glad you can feed Izzy at work. That's great for you both.
Natalie is still feeding 6-7 times in 24 hours. Since our holiday, she's been waking three times in the night each night, whereas this was pretty rare beforehand. It used to be once or twice a night. Like with Angel, her feeding depends on her sleeping, also on what we're doing during the day. She feeds more frequently when we're at home.
Hey, do your babies pull on their ears? Natalie has been doing this the last couple of days and I am thinking its a tired sign, but could her ear be hurting her? Or is she too young to be indicating pain that specifically?

Some babies pull their ears when they are teething too! Sorry to hear Nat has been waking through the night Amy, maybe she is still adjusting to being home again from your holiday.

LOL at blaming everything on teething Charly'smum, great excuse too I reckon.

Angel is getting better, she is now off the thickner & just having the LF formula, still get cranky at myself though making her keep milk down that was upsetting her tummy.Oh well lets not go there again huh?

Charly'smum, going out in the afternoons is our saving grace too. And we're not dealing with teeth yet! (That I'm aware of...)
Ah, Jo, you weren't to know, were you. Its so hard when they can't tell you what's going on with them. Just great that you've found what's wrong and she's getting better, hey.
BTW, your ticker photo is just so gorgeous! I love the way little kids respond to each other. My little 17mo neice was being so lovely with Natalie the other week - stroking her head and saying, "awwww". And Natalie loves babies! She smiles at kids more than adults... loves smiling at herself in the mirror. She even smiled at the photo of herself on the computer desktop the other day.
Yup, the night waking is a pain, but I know I have it better than some. I reckon there's just so much going on with her atm, so I'm confident it will pass. (Listen to that almost phlegmatic approach! Is this me talking?!? :lol:) But seriously, she's growing so rapidly - changing so noticably every week. And you are right, probably still getting used to being at home again.
Well, we're going for the needles this afternoon. Trying to keep relaxed. Difficult!!!

No for a while there Noah went from waking up once a night (Which he'd been doing for months) to waking up 6+ times a night and I was literally a walking zombie!
Anyway we seem to be back down to 2 or 3 times a night, I'd much prefer once again but anything less than 6 is welcome!
Started Noah on solids last week, rice cereal first then sweet potatoes. He LOVESSS the sp, I can't shovel it in fast enough before he's grabbing my hand helping me get it to his mouth. It's crazy!

Jo, that's a funny thought. Hmm, I reckon she knows its her. I think she recognises herself just like she recognises me in the mirror too.
Awesome about the prize Lauren! I never win anything... That's so exciting. How did Noah go when you introduced the solids? Did he take a while to get used to it, or did he plough in straight away?
When you say pinching, do you mean with his fingers? Or with his gums? Natalie bit (gummed) me the other day and I took her off and told her "No. Don't bite mummy" and she nearly cried - her bottom lip totally curled down and my heart broke!

Oh he loved the rice cereal the first day, ate it all, then I think he realised it was pretty gross and wasn't quite as keen the next few days til I tried the sweet potatoes.
He's gummed me a few times too, normally when he's finished a feed, but I'm talking about pinching with his fingers. Somehow he manages to grab only the very top layer of skin so it KILLS!
Also discovered squeeling on Tuesday! Sounds like a seagull!

Storm; I have Maya on LF Formula and she has done very well on it. Hope it works for you.

Feel sorry to the sleep depraived mums! Maya has a couple of nights where she will grizzle a bit during the night, I just put her dummy in her mouth or put her music on and shes fast asleep again in seconds. I havent done a night feed for a VERY long time now.:D

Maya is feeding 4 times a day now (240ml) and I am still introducing a bit more of baby rice each day. She is up to two teaspoons now. I'm wondering when I should introduce mashed potato to her, is it too early or can I go ahead?? its all so confusing from here on......:rolleyes:

Glad to hear the needles werent too bad Amy. Second time round we have a better idea of what to expect, but the first lot of needles were horrible because they are soooo small!

Thanks for that! The lady that runs our parents group said last week its not really right to introduce two weeks before they are 6 months, I find this a bit 'over the top' as I can't see how their digestive system is going to mature so much in just 2 weeks. Whats the difference between now and in two weeks!! Not much at all!

She gets excited when she sees me approach her with the baby rice, she already knows the stirring sound :p I'm going to try the mash with her, I'll start with sweet potato as it seems a bit more interesting than normal potato.

Hi everyone, Charly's had a few bad nights lately, diffently been a walking zombie. Yesterday crying must of the day, so glad when DH got home, also glad that she doesn't have to many days like that. Didn't get her to sleep until 10.30 last night very long day since she woke up at 6.30.

I have been giving her rice cereal when she still seems hungry at night. Tonight I am going to start the solids every night. What time to you think is the best for the dinner time I was thinking she usually need a feed 5 to 6 then has a bath this may be the best time, as it is the time of day I have the least amount of milk.

Lauren I know what you mean about the pinching, I noticed a bruise this morning from her. But it seems to make the milk flow faster I tried it (a little gentler) when expressing LOL.

Got to go she is waking up now.

I would give her her normal feed between 5-6 and then offer her the solids Charly's mum.

Sorry to hear about charly....hope the solids in the evening help. I give Maya hers between her late afternoon bottle and night one, so its around 7-8pm after one of her sleeps/naps.

Are you guys pureeing with a blender or just smashing with fork really well?

We had a pretty cr*p night here last night too. I'm going to give the sleeping bag another shot tonight and see if that's helpful or not...

Must admit, I'm rarely up before Natalie - I'm so lazy, I'll stay in bed for as long as I can, LOL. I do like to have my time though - think I'd go nuts without it.
We're having a day at home today. I've been dragging my poor girl around with me here and there and she's not getting much day-sleep. (10mins here and there in the car :rolleyes:) I hadn't been looking forward to today, but incredibly, she's having a nice long nap now, so I don't feel as guilty anymore :lol: Plus, now I get to spend time on the puter! Everyone's a winner here.

It's nice to have those days at home sometimes isn't it!! I rarely get up b4 Issy either. We are good, contemplating started solids..don't know why I'm hesitant maybe I'm trying to hold on to the baby stage with all my might!! Don't want to believe she's growing up so quick?
Is anyone thinking about another bub?? I loved being pregnant and can't wait !!

Shez we are think of another bub going to start trying at the end of the year. That way if it happens straight away it not a problem ... it two years the first time with a little help from the doctor. But hoping will be easier this time as my body knows what it is doing.

I agree with the solid I have given Charly some Farex when she seems to be hungry and my supply is low but think we need to start her as she is starting to want everything we eat or drink. I have been trying to hold off until six months but don't think I will make it. I am going to get a book out of the library because still not sure I am prepared. Just want the question like how much to give her, when, what are the reactions. Such I big step just want to know everything, don't get the same answers from health nurses or I forget to ask.

Charly is now sitting up for a few minutes by herself, still don't feel comfortable leaving her ever though she seems to save herself before she falls.

Well went in to do work on Friday, they are happy for me to go back part time when ever I want.... think they were happy because they have lost a few people lately to other areas of the organisation... could probably get a promotion into one of there job if I wanted to go back full time LOL to bad it didn't happen earlier... So look like I will go back in October.

LOL girls - I'm still coming to terms with having a baby - sometimes I can't believe she's really mine... that I'm really a mum! I haven't thought about another one just yet - I think we're going to wait a while.
Shez - there's no hurry to start solids, hey. Your milk is the best thing for Issy for the first year of her life. I totally understand your not being quite ready yet. I was talking to a friend on the weekend who's baby just turned one. She's really sad because her daughter is weaning herself and in her words, doesn't need her in the same way. Its sad for us when they grow up!

Well I caved and started the farex tonight. She loved it kept grabbing my hand and pulling the spoon to her mouth!!
As my signature says Issy is an IVF bub so I haven't bothered using any protection as anytime of falling pg naturally is a blessing for us. I have 1 embryo frozen and can't decide when to use it as I have to stop bf to do so.

Angel & Zaccie have been really sick so I've been really slack LOL.

Wow, that's a tough call Shez. Do you have a limited amount of time in which to use the frozen embryo? Great that Issy enjoyed the farex. I guess that helps you for when you want to go out, given that she doesn't like the bottle - at least you know her carer can get something into her if you're out!

Lindsay Charly is the same with the roll over has been doing it for a few weeks, it like 'ok mum I can do it, now leave me alone I hate being on my tummy' but she loves to sit up or stand up holding on to something usually me. Good luck with TTC

Shez I start Charly on farex again last night she wolfed it down and tried to lick the plate, could have been using it as a teething ring LOL. Going to stick with it this time as she is trying to take my food and drinks even when she is feeding.

Kids aren't much better, on AB's now, Oh I am so filthy over it all, I made a post in the boo hoo room LOL!!!!
Angel has only has 3 bottles since Monday night :(
