Good to her the sleeping is improving, I know how great it feels. You don't realise how nice it is to have that time in the evening.
I left Charly at Granma's for 2 hours, apparently see saw the neighbour and though it was mum, cried when she couldn't go to her. So happy to see me, I couldn't even go to the bathroom.
Those sloppy kiss are great aren't they, Charly is starting to do the indian noise with her own hand the last couple of days so funny as she leaves her hand in a fist.
-
Hey yeah! Does she do it with the back of hand when its in a fist?? Thats what Maya does.
-
Cute new piccie of Charly!
Chantal, my mum goes to a chiro regularly and she says he uses a 'clicky' tool up and down the spine. Is this what Maya's chiro uses too?
LOL, Linz, I'm sure you'll manage to get ready in an hour :D My stress is that I can't fit into most of my pre-baby clothes! I'm hoping I'll find something... I think I need a corset!
-
Yes, it is a little clicky thing. Bit hard for my liking, but I put full trust in my Chiro, he's pretty good, half my family goes to him.
-
Hey girls I hope everyone had a good night!
Went to the movies last night and left Noah with the IK's for the first time.
Apparently he cried for the last hour after he'd been asleep and FIL's voice woke him up.
Poor thing was upset when we got there (but nowhere near as hysterical as when SO take him!)
He slept pretty well too.
Got him into bed at 9.30ish and he slept to 3.15. Had some boob and back down at 4.
Too bad I couldn't follow suit! Bloody magpies at 4am! What the hell? It was dark, go to sleep birds!
Then Noah woke again at 5 and I relented and brought him into bed with us (It's so damn easy!). But that's the longest he's slept in his cot for ages so Yay!
-
Chon - yes she uses the back of hand is now starting to open her fist.
Well done Noah on the good sleep.
Charly is screaming all day long happy screams and has a new sound 'b" kind of sounds like bub some times. When to the drive in last night and she was squelling/screaming to get everyones attention, lucky she fell asleep just before the movie started.
Thinking about going to the movies during the week and leaving Charly at Granma's will mean it's a little long then I'm use to leaving her. But guess I have to do it sometime. If I can time it right I will be able to BF her before I leave and she wont need a BF till I come back.
-
Awww that's a good idea, hadn't thought about going to the drive-in with Noah too.
Well done on the "b" sound Charly!
Noah's all about the "w" and "uh" lol sounds like he's saying "wow" and "uh oh" all the time.
He's also started making a clicking sound with his tongue which is cute. If I click my tongue at him, he'll click back. Also making a gross spit sucking sound but I chose to focus on the other one lol! I think both are just from playing with his teeth.
-
Aha. That clicky thing... I'm intrigued - I should take Natty one day, just to check it out at least.
That cognitive therapy sounds interesting, Linz... I'd be fascinated to see how they work that stuff out!
Oh, what a lovely sleep you had, Lauren! WTG Noah!
Cute about the new sounds, girls. Natalie is big on the raspberry-blowing atm. Also, she does a fake cough/laugh that is just so gorgeous...
-
hi girls. not having the best night. Issy os here on my lap trying to give DH some last minute sleep B4 he has to get up for work. Issy has been in bed with us since 0100 and awake since 0400!! considering i only went to bed at 1 i'm pretty knackered!!
It's cool all the sounds threy make isn't it. Issy's a real talker!!
-
Awww I hope Issy let you both go back to sleep Shez!
I've made Noah's osteo appointment for 11.15 today so wish us luck!
-
Oh no, Shez! You poor thing! I hope Issy has a better night tonight.
How did the osteo appt go, Lauren?
Natalie did marvellously well last night - only one wake-up, which is the best night we've had since she was three months old! :crossfingers: she does it again tonight...
-
Oh Shez!! You poor thing. Hope you caught up with sleep, nothing more important as it keeps us Mums sane;)
Good to hear others got their sleep. Wow to laila, asleep already:clap:
My DP has taken Maya to the inlaws as he has to pick up something from there so I have an hour to make tea by myself (haven't been able to make it yet as I have the work phone tonight). I have 3 permanent shifts for the AH phone so it brings in some money that we can depend on now, feels good. Bit of a juggling act though, but its better than going into an office 3 days per week, I save with childcare etc.
I'm thinking of taking Maya to a 'bubs music session' or 'kindermusic' that are held in the area, just so she can meet more bubs and have some fun with music and singing. Be some fun for me too as I love to see her get all excited and laugh when we dance and stuff to music. So cute! We have been watching Sesame Street and Play School in the mornings and whenever a song comes on I always try and go over to her and sing a long. I'm a bit rusty on the songs though...
-
LOL, great to meet you too, Linz. So sorry you're sick :( Hope you feel better soon. Ooooh, it'll be like the early days again having to get up every 4 hours in the night  But worth a go - good on you! Are the pills motillium? That'll hopefully help you go straight to sleep in between pumps!
That work phone sounds ideal, Chantal. Well, I know it means late nights for you, but you're right - you save heaps on childcare! I'd love to do some work from home, but am sadly unskilled ;)
Oo, your 'kindermusik' sounds like 'baby bounce' that they run at the library near here. We've been a couple of times, we sit around and sing nursery rhymes for half an hour, bouncing the babies and playing instruments. It is GREAT fun! Hope you and Maya enjoy it.
-
So sorry you're sick Linz! Hope you feel better soon!
The osteo went REALLY well. Noah was SUCH a good boy! Had a strange man poking and prodding at him for 30 mins and just sat there as good as gold!
The osteo reckons his back's a bit twisted and that's why he hates laying on his back. He's fine when he sits up because he can sit and twist around. He also said that could be why his wind/colic is worse than when he was 3 months old. I really hope it helps coz it's horrible him being so hysterical. It's different from his "i'm being stubborn" cry (which he does when I put him on his belly), it's a kind of "painful" cry.
The osteo said he should only need a few visits so fingers crossed!
-
CRAWLING now forwards, had her first crawl on Sunday night for DH (6 movements forward) while I was in the shower. Wouldn't do it again, then yeterday afternoon wouldn't stop. Which means this morning I was up early mopping the floor.
Got go now want to get out of cot.
-
great news about the osteo, Lauren, tho sorry about poor little Noah's back :( I hope they fix it up quickly and painlessly for him.
WTG Charly! A crawler - whoopee :D
-
Awww way to go Charly! You're in for it now Mama! Noah's still on track to be 12 before he crawls anywhere lol!
-
Oh nooo, Linz - sick? Is it the flu? Nasty :(
Saw in your ticker you're going cloth too! Whatcha going to get to start with?
-
Oh yay on the cloth Linz! I am ADDICTED! I just blew most of my tax return on cute nappies! I can't help it if the cute embroidered ones appeal to me more can I? hehehe
ETA: Do you use cloth too Amy?
-
I have no idea what has been going on with this thread, sorry, I am a zombie, little Angi is sick again, when is it ever going to end?
-
Oh poor Angel. Another illness - how awful for you, Jo. Your winter struggle sounds just like my bro & SIL's (tiggy). Hoping she gets better quickly... Only a couple of months left of the 'season'... Hoping they fly past for you.
Yup, Lauren, Natty is in cloth during the day, but still sposies at night.
-
Gorgeous photo of Natty Amy!!
-
Heh heh. Thanks Jo.
Oh hey, how are things going with Dylan now he's home?
-
Noah's the same Amy. Nothing seems to wick the moisture away enough at night and he gets horrible nappy rash with everything I've tried at night. What do you use? We're mainly ai2's (Berry Plush our our fave!) and I'm buying lots of fitteds and wool at the moment. We do a little bit of everything though. Totally loving the wool and embelished prefolds atm though!
-
Grr Amy, he has been suspended from school! He needs to re adjust as well, but it's getting a bit beyond the joke.
Yay for using cloth nappies too, I don't think I would have the time or space on my line to wash them LOL.
-
Yay Lindz!! Hope all goes well for you & pumping doesn't drive you insane LOL
-
What type are you getting Linz?
ETA: I'm thinking of going back to cloth full time. Might wait til the weather's a bit warmer though, that way if he leaks overnight he won't freeze and it won't take so long to dry the sheets lol.
-
Oh Gosh! Its amazing just how many people use Cloth still. I just don't have the patience and time to do all that washing, and I am the same as Jo, no more room on the washing line either. Well thats my excuse ;)
So sorry to hear Jo, about Angel not being well and your son being expelled. I hope your not too stressed:hug:
Well I see Maya's 5th tooth coming through now, shes got more on the right side than the left, looks a bit snaggle toothed!! LOL
She is doing a lot of happy screaming when she is playing or sees something that catches her eye. Her babbles are also starting to get a bit more interesting, its as if she is saying a little sentence in her own little language, but her main sound is Ba and she grunts if she wants me to repeat something or make a toy do something.
Also if anyone is interested in some recipe ideas for their bubs our mothers group has started a print out in Word of our babies favorites, just message me with your email and I will send you the attachment.
-
Yes, Natty's first batch of nappy rash came when I started BBBs overnight - I STILL haven't managed to get rid of it totally, and it has been months. I think she has thrush and we just can't seem to shake it. I've used cortisone cream and canisten cream, and every night after her bath I use a barrier cream (either pawpaw or sudocreme) and that seems to keep it at bay but hasn't gotten rid of it  So I'm sticking with the sposies overnight because that hasn't made it any worse.
SIL gave Natty a berry plush and I LOVE it! I'd like to get some more for her when my tax return comes through, LOL. I've been lucky - pretty much all of Nat's nappies have been gifts. I bought the Baby Beehinds but the rest were pressies. I love pockets - so easy, she has a couple of BumGs that are very well designed. Sadly Natty is growing out of her Happy Heinys - they were my faves. I've never used prefolds or AIOs - only fitteds with covers, pockets and the BP.
Aw, Jo, what a bugger about Dylan being suspended. Not what you needed. I really hope everything settles down for you both soon.
I know its not very green of me, but my nappies tend to go straight into the dryer, LOL. Putting them in the wash takes no time at all.
IKWYM about the screaming, Chantal! Natalie is blowing raspberries *all the time*, and squealing, and saying 'bub bub bub', that's when she's happy. When she's unhappy or bored, boy oh boy, I hear all about it!
-
Aghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
Natalie slept through last night from 7 til 7!!!:confetti:
Well, the fine print is, she did babble away to herself for a while at about 4am, but she didn't cry out for me at all!
Let's hope it wasn't a fluke :p
-
Well Done Natalie!
Also I've heard raw silk liners are really good for getting in top of nappy rash?
-
Oo, I haven't heard of raw silk ones... Do you use them? We use fleece ones...
-
Thats fantastic Amy!! Hope it continues.
When Maya had her bad nappy rash I tried everything, the only thing that worked is Bepanthen Antibacterial, so not the normal one but the Antibacterial one, its in a white tube. I still use it as it seems to be the best thing to ward it off too. I love the stuff!!
-
Nope I haven't used them we use fleece when we use fitteds. Apparently silk has amazing antibacterial properties though.
-
Thanks girls. Might go and invest in some raw silk liners AND bepanthen antibacterial! I'm willing to try anything to shake it off once and for all.
-
Well, the glory was definitely short-lived. Last night I got up to her three times, twice I fed her in order to settle her. And today she is not sleeping, and she refused lunch. Bugger bugger bugger. I don't think she's unwell - she seems in good spirits, except for rubbing her eyes non-stop because she's so jolly tired. Well, I know how that feels too.
Honestly, am I unreasonable in just wanting some rest?! :(
-
Oh Amy, I'm with you, your night sounded like mine but I didnt feed. I had to get up and resettle and tuck her in 4 times last night. All from 1am to 4.30am and I couldnt let her in bed with us (as I normally would) because I had to get up at 5.30am to turn the work phone on. She was waking up coughing and also from my 'wonderful' other halfs snoring!!! ARGGHHHH!! I am so OVER his snoring!!
Maya has still got a bit of a cough today, so I am watching her temps, which are around 37.2 and TRYING to get her to drink more water:rolleyes: I think she's coming down with a cold but you wouldnt guess it with the way she is crawling all over the house.
We had a nice nap together around 12 for an hour or two, she fell asleep holding my hand....so cute.
-
Awww Hope you both get a decent night's sleep tonight (i've completely given up on it for myself, someone deserves one however!)
Totally off topic but have you girls lowered the bases on your baby's cots yet? Does that even make sense? You know how you have them up high while they're little and then move them down lower? When do you do that? I imagine it's when they can pull themselves up but I don't know......
Maybe I should have already done it but hey Noah still gets bathed in the baby bath at home (which he outgrew length-ways at 3 1/2 months!) Our tub is way too deep to bend over, so I just bathe him sitting up, naughty mama I know! Not looking forward to dropping the base though, I imagine it's gonna be a killer on the back.
Also totally off topic, but I was wondering how old all the mama's are on this board?
I'm 22.
-
Oh, Chon, how on earth did you manage to work this morning?! You wonder woman, you - well done. I just winged and moaned all day. Natty and I made a good pair ;) I'm going to bed really soon...
Hey Lauren, I'm 27. I think IKWYM about the cot... Mine is already lowered but the side goes up and down. I've still got it down because I'm still getting her up overnight, but I'm told I should have it up so she gets used to it. Yes, I reckon having to reach down that far would be a pain in the back. I would think we'd need to adjust them before the babies start pulling themselves up... Just in case they practice in bed and fall out :o
-
Sorry for the lack of sleep Ladies. Chon, you are fantastic for still getting up that early well done!!
Lauren,
I think you put the cot down once they can sit? Shees I still have the side off Angels, & she is right next to my side of the bed, that's her barrier. I know I know terrible, but I like it when she is right there, IYKWIM. I guess I'll have to do something soon.& I'm 35 :( ha ha ha .....
Hope everybody is well.
Lindz how is the boobie juice coming along?
