Hi everyone. Sorry it has been a while - job hunting, more mothers group activities than usual, family friend visiting from OS and all that.
Hi Kate, and welcome! Your bub sounds like she is doing fabulously.
I have heard that around nine months babies usually can sit un-aided (for any period of time) so your little one certainly has reached that milestone. I've also heard that crawling and walking are not milestones, for which I am relieved because my baby doesn't seem to have any desire to crawl just yet! She is pretty confident sitting up, but gets very unhappy on her belly unless I am doing my darndest to make it the most funny, exciting thing on earth (which gets very tiring, so we don't do it as often as we could!) and she really doesn't roll, unless it is from her front to her back where she's more comfortable. You DDs mobility sounds great.
Charlysmum - thanks for asking, the appointment went really well. In fact, the opthalmologist said there's absolutely nothing wrong with Natty's eyes - they are aligned well and her vision is great. So, that was a relief - since that checkup when the nurse said her eyes are uneven I have been worried, and of course every time I looked at her I'd think (ooh, is that left eye turning inwards a bit? ) So now there's nothing to worry about. I'm taking her for her 9 month check tomorrow (a bit late, LOL) so I'll find out how much she weighs these days.
Glad to hear all the bubs are doing well. They are such real little people now!
Talk soon. xx

Kate - Jasmine sounds like she is doing fine, she is eating great and thats one of the main things. I also love walking in to see Maya when she wakes and she goes from a cry to an excited laugh when she sees me.
Snacks - good to hear Nat is alright. I too have to have Maya weighed etc, havent done it since her 6month check.
You sound very busy, good vibes sent your way with the job hunting:D
CharleysMum - wow to charly's words, thats fantastic! Its still 'ducks' and 'Dad' here:rolleyes: almost got the wave going, only when she wants to.
Well Maya is now walking with a pusher toy (one of those ones that they push along themselves). My MIL let me borrow the one she has and we put Maya into a standing position and showed her what to do and now she cant get enough of it! She takes some steps pushing, falls on her knees, quickly gets back up again and walks pushing the toy! I'm amazed!!!!!! She just amazes me!
Got the video camera out of course:)
-
Woo hoo, Maya! She'll be running around before you know it, Chon!
Ducks and Dad are good words - does she say them discriminately? Nat says Mum, Dad, bub... but they don't mean anything just yet I think. I find their language fascinating. Natty has gone from babble back to mostly purposely-spoken one-syllable 'words'... her fave atm being 'deh' Although her little songs (and winges, LOL!) seem to go on forever.
Nat waves, but get this... Only to herself ROFL! I have tried and tried to get her to wave to other people, succeeding once when she waved goodbye to DH when he left for work. But for the last several weeks I go into her room when she wakes, pick her up for a cuddle and she looks in the mirror on her wardrobe and waves and laughs at herself :D
-
Hey Kate - I wouldn't worry about Jasmine too much, sounds like she's doing fine to me considering!
Amy - Glad Natty's eyes were fine. lol The waving sounds hilarious! Waiting to hear how much she weighed...
Chon - WYG Maya on the walking! And dad and duck are good words if you ask me!
Charleysmum - Charley's vocab sounds terrific. Noah can say 8 words, but since learning Dada (the latest) that's all I ever hear from him
As for Noah, he's still not crawling or showing any signs of wanting to! I know it's nothing to worry about but let me tell you, carrying around all 11kg of his chub is bloody tiring! He's a big heavy lump.
I've given up with the tummy time as he's learbes how to sit up from laying on his tummy. Also figured out how to sit up from laying on his back which makes nappy changes a challenge. I'm back at work 2-3 days a week and he's with my mum. He's been a pretty good boy so far and I hope he keeps it up for his other nanna who's minding him this coming saturday. He's not a big fan of hers but it's only for 4 1/2 hours so I'm sure they'll both survive.
Glad to see the board's getting a little busier! It's been a ghost town around here lately.

Hi Lauren, its great that Noah can get to a sitting position on his own. At least he doesn't get frustrated waiting for you to come and help him.
Our appointment went well yesterday, though I need to fatten my girl up as her weight gain has dropped off a bit. She's 8.2kg, but only 70cm tall, so she's kind of in proportion... Anyway, the nurse said fat is good for brain development (she still has about 4 bfeeds a day, and I can't think of how to get more into our day) so I need to try to get her to have more dairy foods. So. Cheese, cheese and more cheese, LOL. She has flat-out rejected yoghurt, even mixed with her cereal, and last night she refused the tuna patties I made for her (I thought I was being really inventive, LOL!) but she did feed herself a piece of cheese as a snack so I might keep that one up.
Anyone got any fat-rich recipes to share? I was thinking of making pasta with a white cheese sauce today...
-
Oh my goodness Amy, look how much Natalie has changed! What a little cutie!:D
C'mon where are your photos from your holiday???:)
As for yoghurt, I have finally got Maya to have a little itty bit, I have greek yoghurt for breakfast and I mix a little with some of her food, as I feed her the same time I have my yoghurt. She definitely likes the greek yoghurt more than compared to baby yoghurt or yoplait etc. In fact she wont have the other type at all.
Noahs 11kg, wow that would be hard to carry around all the time, I go to carry Maya into a shop to grab something quick and my arm is killing me. I ended up buying a stroller last week, the best thing I ever did!

HI everyone! Sorry I've been MIA but pg sickness with a 10month old is not fun!!
It's great to read hw well everyones bundles are doing.
Issy is 9.32kg about 71cm. She is crawling everywhere and spends a lot of time on her feet pulling herself up on anything she can find. she says Dada and Mum and bub I think she is saying tap in the bath.
She is still fussy when it comes to food will only have pumpkin and sweetcorn for dinner and it has to be the bought variety!! I have her on full fat kids yoghurt, it is thicker and less tart than baby yoghurt.
Kate Jazmine sounds like she is doing well considering her difficult start in life. What do her dr's say?
Good luck to those heading back to work.
Hope to be on here more soon

LOL, sorry Chon, I am a slacker with the photos. I'll have to re-size a few and put them on... Thanks, I reckon Natty's cute too. Your new ticker pic is brilliant too - what a clever girl Maya is!
I haven't tried Greek Yoghurt - do you have it flavoured or plain? Natalie has tried Jalna, both vanilla and fruits of the forest and doesn't like either. I might just keep trying little bits at a time - don't they say to offer new foods up to 20 times or something? (Don't know where I pulled that one from, LOL!) Also, I tried her on fresh custard rather than the baby ones (which she guzzles btw) but she rejected that too! I think dairy foods are just too rich for her. And I'm afraid now of giving her too much cheese in case she gets constipated...
So. I reckon I'm going to offer her formula in a cup. She will drink water from the cup with meals, so I'm going to offer her a cup of formula after each meal. What do you think? Do you think they should be having richer foods these days, or is it ok to wait til they're a bit older?
Hey Shez, so sorry you've got the all-day sickness. Hopefully it'll pass in a couple of weeks... You'll be in your 2nd trimester soon!!! OMG!!! Where is this pregnancy of yours going? LOL. Issy sounds like she's doing so well. She's got a cute ticker pic too!
-
Thanx Snacks.. I forgot to mention Issy got her first tooth...!!!
-
Yah for Issy's first tooth! 'They' say the later the teeth come through the less painful.........let us know if its true because when Mayas top teeth came through it was horrible :(
Keep us up to date with your pregnancy, ok:)
Amy - I'm not sure about richer foods yet, depending what you are thinking about.
Getting off the dairy - I know one trick that my MIL does is mix some gravy in with vegies and stuff for Mayas 15month old cousin, I'm sure that would be alright for our bubs too.
As for the greek yogurt I get the plain with apricot, berry, actually any fruit and as I feed her weetbix or something else I put a touch of my yogurt on a couple of her spoons, so she is not having yogurt every mouthful, IYKWIM.

Finding it hard to find the time to turn the computer on, glad to see every on back this week.
Kate I wouldn't worry to much everyone has it own time, I know Charly has been slower them the other baby in my Mother Group. But once she started moving (rolling at about 7 months) it progressed very quickly to crawling to now moving across the lounge up the stairs and climbing anything she can (no walking yet). Just give her encouragement.
Her first tooth as finally broken though but the next one is coming now. Going to a birthday party tommorow, our first 1st birthday for mothers group babies, doesn't it go quick.
Shez hope you are feeling better soon.
Need to go Charly is trying to type and making it difficult.
-
Hope everyone's well.
Big news here, Noah finally crawled!
He does his own weird version but at least my arms are grateful!
Anyway just though I'd pop on and update you all.
-
Thanks fantastic Lauren!! Yeh Noah!!
-
WTG Noah!
Thanks for the gravy tip, Chon. Might give that a go, though we never eat gravy so I'll have to learn how to make it, LOL! Nat actually ate some of my yoghurt yesterday... She was eyeing it off so I gave her some and she had quite a few mouthfuls. Hurrah!
Charlysmum, IKWYM about the time going quickly - two of our mothers group kids turned 1 yesterday. Crazy, hey? I can't believe that in less than two months my baby will be a year old...
-
Hi guys
Gosh, where is time going??!! Is it because we are so busy chasing after our little ones all day. Mayas sleeps during the day feel like they are getting shorter....bummer. But she can keep herself busy when awake so I can get my own stuff done, so can't complain there.
The other night she stood by herself for about 3-4seconds. Did it twice:clap::dance: I found she balances best when holding onto something, sort of centres her. One baby in our group is taking 3-4 steps now! We are all December babies too (2 early January). Very impressive!
Congratulation with Noah!!:clap: Must be a relief
-
Wow sounds like they are going really well, way to go Noah crawling and Maya standing.
After a bath/shower we usually let Charly run around a bit before putting nappy on, I dicided to but her on the potty (weekend purchase). I took a photo and then dad came home, and was trying to get her to wee and she did, I could beleive it I really didn't think she would LOL. She always seems to have a dry nappy for a long time these days, so may start putting her on every hour or so.
She is starting to cuddle a lot, sit on my lap and but her head against my chest without wanting a feed feels so good.
Standing up waving things around and picking things up from the ground.
Well Charly is awake now and would like to jump on here with me. Everyone have a good weekend
-
Good heavens, all these grown up babies! Standing up and using potties... Far out, the time flies.
We have had the vommies these last couple of days. DH had to stay home from work yesterday to look after us. Seem to be on the mend now - Nat is smiley and happy this afternoon which is a nice change! I still feel a bit funny in the head, but I'm better otherwise. There're some ugly bugs going around atm...
-
OMG, as soon as I finished that post Nat started to grumble a little and I checked her nappy... Which was the foulest thing I have ever seen. I'm talking: run her legs under the tap, foul. Euch. I hate gastro...
