Natty has been such a pain about going to bed for the night lately. And yesterday we went to a wedding and when we got home (around 11:30) I opened the door to check on her as I normally do and she woke up! Aghhh! So we had some midnight cuddles, then she woke at 6 this morning. I'm sooo tired...

Don't get much of change to get on her these days, when she is a sleep I usually do a quick clean up or sit down and relax because it is usually only an hour. Finally updated my ticker, start of a new year where did the last one go.
Great to hear they are starting to walk.
Charly update
Still only have 3 teeth 2 botom an one eye tooth, loves chewing on bones at the moment (hope that means there are more coming).
Starting to walk to get what she wants, the most is about 4 meters to daddy.
Brought her some shoes for christmas and whats to wear them all the time. Knew she would have a shoe thing as she will not leave them alone (any shoes must be touch and played with).
Trying to give her less BF and give her milk, just starting to like the milk over water. Sometimes it is mouthful of milk them water them milk.
Starting to get her to sleep in her cot at night after having BF, some days better then others. Also strange is she will get of BF and go for a drink of milk. Hope this is a sign she is weaning herself.

I would like to start trying but am a bit worried it will be a December baby so may wait a little while. Hard when so many people around me are conceiving the second child. Still if it happen it will be great.

Well girls, it feels like I have applied for like a million jobs this week! Hopefully something comes from it and I get at least one interview :s
Natalie is getting so difficult at bedtimes. I am really struggling there. Otherwise, she's great... I'm wondering whether to trial just one day sleep? I know Maya only has one day sleep... What's everyone else doing sleep-wise these days?
Oh, chon, my good friend just had her baby on Tuesday morning - another little Maya! :D

Not much happening here really. Only going to bed at a reasonable time has been hard. Maya will go down at 7pm then wake up at around 8-8.30pm and wants to be up for an hour to two or she cries like anything.
She is OBSESSED with her books! Every evening we read or look at a dozen books. She grabs my finger and directs it to what she wants to know the name of.
New word is shoe and she points to my foot when I ask where my foot is.

thank you for the welcome. Ah i didnt cope very well at all...wasnt a great time for me....i didnt bond with him at all for 4 months...as i was disappointed i didnt get my girl had some depression over that. i had a C section and i felt like id done soemthing wrong in not having a natural birth. but id go through it again cause he just brightens up my crappy days.

Oh how sad, Jessica. I'm sorry Ashley's birth wasn't what you'd hoped for. There are some good threads around here about birth de-briefing, and gender disappointment too. If you haven't already found them, go hunting and you'll receive loads of support from people in a similar position as you've been.
They are so worth all the hassle, aren't they? Sometimes I get really angry with Natty - she can be so needy sometimes - and then we'll share a cuddle and she'll gently pat my shoulder and I'll think, "Ah, this makes it all worthwhile" :)
Chon, I haven't spoken with my friend just yet - I don't want to crowd her out because I know she's got a lot of family who will be wanting her time and attention atm. But when I do get a chance to call her or visit with her I'll ask about why she chose Maya for her little girl.
Why did you choose Maya? Do you pronounce it My-a or May-a? I have only ever seen it written and so in my mind it has always been My-a, like the ancient culture from South America...
Natty enjoys books too, though she's not as advanced in her language and comprehension as Maya by the sounds of things! LOL, she sounds like an absolute star!
Sorry to hear Jessica, I hope I dont have a lot of disappointment when I have my next baby as i am REALLY hoping for a boy. If I dont, my curiosity will always be 'wondering' what a son of mine would be like.........and I don't think I could handle 3 children....lol

Maya's language is actually a concern to my GP as she only knew two words when I took her at her 12mth appointment! I was a little shocked and now feel a bit of a 'bad mum' as she wants to see her in mid Feb to see if things have improved. I feel bad now when I want to do my own thing and just relax on the computer or something, I feel I should be teaching Maya words and stuff but I just need space, IYKWIM. It was a small relief when she repeated the word shoe to me the other day though.
Its a horrible hot day here in Adelaide 41....eeegh
Are you serious? How many words are they 'supposed' to have at 12 months?! I can't get Natalie to say 'bye' anymore... She'll wave but doesn't say it. She chatters unintelligibly, but Mum and Dad are the only words I can make out, and even those aren't always discriminate...

Spoke to my friend today on the phone - they are pronouncing it May-a as well. Chose it just cause they like it :) She was a big bub - 4.05kg! :dance:
My doctor said they should know 3 definite words at 12 months. I'm not going to worry myself too much now because the more I talk to other mums (such as yourself Amy) it seems to be a similar problem. She will start copying words better soon.
Wow, thats a decent size bub!! My Maya was only 2.7kg.

FWIW chon, the nurse also said 2-3 words but she said "da da da" etc counts even if it's not in context.
Save me from myself I have SUCH bad baby fever right now! My friends just had a little boy 2 weeks ago, a work colleague is due in 3 weeks and another told me she was pregnant today. I'm craving another tiny newborn!
Which is completely unrealistic as Noah's NEVER slept through the night even once! And I was lazy and let my health insurance lapse s I'm not covered for obstetrics until Dec.
Yeah, Chon, that's what I said too! Natalie was only 3.5 and that felt pretty darn big ;)
LOL, Lauren, it is inevitable!!! Are you still bfeeding Noah? I only ask because when we stopped a couple of months ago I started to get clucky, and became marginally more interested in DTD :lol: I think my bfeeding hormones are good psychological contraception! I have another friend who's bub is due in Jan, then one due in March, then two mum's group mums due in July, then another MG mum due September... Plus of course the girls on here! Talk about peer pressure! ;)
Cannot beleive I am on here again this week.
Yet to have the 1 year check up for Charly, really don't want to deal with the nurse saying has she had her 1 year needles. As I will not be have them until she is at least 18 months and have let the doctor know.
Charly has a few words bye and hello, daddy and mum. The rest of the time it is grunts to get what she wants, is starting to make different sounds and having conversation in her own language LOL.
I know what you mean about the baby (MG and Swimming mums are), I would really love to be PG, then I have days where I wonder if I could keep up with Charly if I was. But would so love to have a boy, although still haven't pick a boy's name LOL.
Charly has a couple of books that I need to read at least 5 times a day, and is starting to love her stuffed toys giving them lots of cuddles so cute.
Amy good luck with the job hunting, it can be very frustrating. I have to try and find a position as they want my job to go back to full time and in the city. Have until June to work something out, at the moment not to worried frankly need a change and if I have to look outside the company so be it.

Sorry I have been MIA, house hunting & havnt been feeling all that good.
I dunno how many words they are meant to say, but Laila says about 8-9 words.. prob only because both DH & I are chatter boxes,lol.
Laila was 3.16Kgs and I thought she was huge PMSL.. I wonder what this bub will be?
Oooh, yes Charly'smum, the cuddles are so gorgeous, aren't they? Natty leans in and presses her mouth against me for a kiss on my request now, provided she's feeling generous! Otherwise my request is ignored.
Shame about your job. :( GL for your jobhunting too. Thanks for the well-wishes. TBH, I have been feeling really discouraged - as though the only thing I'm qualified to do these days is be at home with Natty. Now, I realise being a SAHM is a tough gig, and if it were what I wanted to do full time I'd be completely chuffed. But I NEED to get out of here, and not even being able to get to interview stage with anyone has been so difficult. Finally I have an interview on Monday arvo though. It is a bit further from home than I would've liked, but I'm so not being fussy these days!
So sorry you're not feeling well, Linz. Are you moving again? I thought you did not so long ago... What a pain of a thing to have to do while your pg. Ah well, hope you find something quickly and are feeling better soon. :hug:

Charlysmum; I hear you on the books thing, I am a little tired of reading Mayas books over and over again, shes got a real little library now as I keep buying new books when I go out as I'm sick of the old ones...LOL!
Well Maya finally siad MUM nice and clearly today...phewww, was sick of being called Dad, although when we are out shopping if a man is nearby she calls them Dad.....tad embarrassing:redface:
She also has a Sesame Street alphabet DVD that she watches once a day and yesterday she was repeating the Letter J when they said it and she mumbles something when they repeat the ABC bit. Its like overnight she is finally getting the words thing, just after I am winging to you guys about it:doh:
Walking around quite a bit in the last couple of days too, I clap and say good girl every time she attempts a good walk.
Good luck on Monday Amy, if you find it a bit far then you can always keep looking for another job closer but at least you will be working.

We have been here for 7 months, but its only 3 bedroom so the spare room/computer room will have to go to fit bubs in so if we can get a 4 bed it would be much better. Also its a duplex so im sick of climbing stairs,lol.

I decided yesterday that I am only going to do 11 more weeks at work then mat leave. I was planning to work longer but think that's a bit nuts!!
Issy says a few words like Mum and dad and NO!! And ta. She scratched herself in the car today with an Elmo doll it looks like she has been in a fight with a kitten!! The scratch goes from her nose to her ear!!!

LOL at Issy saying, 'NO'. I'm surprised Natty hasn't picked it up yet - it feels like we're always saying no to her. DH leaves all his crap lying around and then gets cross when she plays with it :rolleyes:
I think she might be saying, 'who's that?' that comes out like 'hussat?' when she points to photos (we have a lot around, especially on the fridge) and to toys. I say it a lot when we look at photos, then answer, 'that's mum' or that's dad' or 'that's Natty', but she hasn't picked any of those up yet. I think she probably says it because that's what you say when you point... Kind of like when she used to say 'bye' because that's what you say when you wave :lol:

Thanks Linz, it was really positive. They are going to call me back today or tomorrow (after they have finished with the other applicants) and will bring me in to meet the guys I'll be working with/for (it was a recruitment company interview for a specific job - a small business in their building, guys they know very well). :crossfingers: I hope they call today... trying not to get my hopes up too much though.

Natty has been a little bugger this morning - I put her to bed at 8:30 for her morning sleep (usually goes at 9, but had an unsettled night and woke early) and she was still awake at 10 when I went for my shower. Little scallywag. We have an appointment at the drs at 11:30 for her needles :( I hope she sleeps a little bit before then...
GL with her needles, Laila did really well with hers for once. Though you will have to hold both arms tightly as Laila pulled out one of her needles.
Oh poor little Natalie:( How did she go? I know what you mean about holding them tightly Linz! I wish I knew that before I went in as maya moved with the first one, I didnt realise she would yank her arm so quickly, she had more strength than I thought. With the others I held her very tightly and looked away.
She did well. The dr told me how to hold her, but even then it was hard to keep her still. TBH, I think she was crying just as much because of how I was holding her as because of the pain. But straight after she had a little cry on my shoulder, she stopped crying to hold a squeaky toy then have a biccie, then there were no more tears. So all in all, pretty good. We had to wait around for about 20 mins afterwards in case of any reactions, and while we were waiting Natty found her bandaids and slowly peeled each one straight off. :rolleyes: no matter what I tried to distract her with, she kept going back to the bandaids.
So glad that's over now, hey? Now we have a whole 6 months before the next ones, then none til they're 4! (Ah, except for you gorgeous ladies who are going for round two... ;) )

Thanks for the thoughts about being tired guys!! I've had lots of people tell me I must be crazy having two close together but 2 years ago I was beginning to think I'd never be a mother let alone blessed with two close together!!
Not crazy, Shez. Not at all. I often wonder whether I'm doing the right thing by Natty if I wait like I'm going to... But I'm hoping my children will have compatible personalities, regardless of how old they are :crossfingers: Well, I'm hoping anyway!
At least yours will have similar interests at similar times, and therefore more to talk about.
The time before we TTC is actually stretching out a bit further now - I want to complete my study in massage this year, then do a bit of work before going for our second. I hope we don't have trouble conceiving our second like my parents did. (They had no probs with my brother, then it took 5 years to get my sister, then another 4 before I came along.)
I had a night out for dinner last night. Went out with the MG girls and DH looked after Natty. It was good fun. Went to a Japanese Teppan Yaki restaurant. I feel all refreshed today ;)

Get to here the PG are going well, I was just thinking yesterday with Charly now walking everywhere she can, I should have got PG when she was about 6 to 7 months, I'm so tired now.
Charly is going to sleep by herself in her cot with hardly any complaining, this is a huge breakthrough for us, as it was BF to sleep most of the time.
Glad everything is going well with the needles.
Charly is getting her two top teeth, gave her some Panadol at about 3.30 this morning and is still sleeping thank god, so miserable yesterday. Spoke to soon can hear her now.

Well. The interview went well, however there are three of us in the running for the job. So, I now have to wait until Monday or Tuesday before I find out if it is mine or if it is someone else's. I'm trying not to stress about it. If it is meant to be, it will be.
Natty woke early this morning and her arm is spotty today. I'm not sure whether I'm being paranoid or whether I should take her back to the drs to see if it is a reaction to the MMR needle. I might see if she is happy after her sleep or if she's unsettled. Did anyone else's bub seem unsettled after the needles or were they all fine?
7-10 days after her needles Issy was out of sorts had temps and got a rash all over her trunk.. normal reaction to MMR. When did Nat have her needles??
Amy, doesnt it suck when you know you are almost there, cross fingers you get it!!
I was told by my doctor that they can get a rash up to two weeks after the needles, I would keep a close eye on it and her temp, if your worried you can always call the docs. Maya got a bit grumpy about 7 days after the needles, I gave her panadol and within a couple of days she was back to her old self. Another mum in our group said her bub got grumpy around the same time (7 days) too. Hope she is alright. Yukky needles:(
