morgan and bekz - so glad you have scored goals in the challenge of toddler raising. it feels so good after feeling so bad!
i spoke too soon on mylo being easy: all day he seemed hot but had no temperature then this arvo he began crying and by nightime he screamed himself silly and couldn't be consoled. panadol, teething gel, boobies, cuddles- nothing worked. olly joined the party by crying hysterically for no obvious reason... they're both asleep now but it was a noisy few hours. wow- i don't remember teething being so bad the first time around.
oh dear, earth hour in a few minutes, better get the candles and log off...
-
Sorry I have been MIA once again girls. We've had so much going on and everytime I am in here it seems I only have crap happening so to save you all from hearing it I just don't post. LOL.
Poor Abbey is sick. We both got sick during the week but she still hasn't picked up. I'm guessing it's just a viral thing, haven't bothered taking her to the Dr's, I won't give her Ab's unless she truelly needs them so what's the point. Tehya was sick the week earlier and still has a rotten cough, she was vomiting also. Abbey has had really high temps and has been pooing up a storm, has a cough too. Yesterday she came out in the viral rash which usually means the end is near. Poor thing, I really hope so, she is miserable and I am buggared from being up all night with her, instead of her waking up quietly she is screaming. :(
-
xtml - I feel that toddler training is 1 step forward and 2 back some days. Your day sounded like mine!!! Miss Loren would not sleep yesterday and by the end of the day she was a beetroot coloured screaming mess. Miss Sara had temps of 39 and was whinging and DH who is also sick joined in the happy circus too.
Trish - Hugs hon. I am sorry that you have some challenging stuff going on atm. I hope you are also getting some lovely smiles and cuddles from your kids to help you through it all:)
After having a mostly crap weekend with kids/dh being sick and me getting no sleep we are just about to pack up the car and head to the park for some fresh air.
-
did anyone else turn off the lights etc for earth hour? it was nice- i was home alone with the kids asleep so i had a candlelit bath and found myself reflecting on all kinds of stuff that would never have surfaced had i had the usual distractions of tv, computer etc. it was a bit boring tho. when olly was a baby we lived in Medan (indonesia) where theres power blackouts every day for at least a few hours, so it reminded me of that. but of course it's hot there, so the most obvious thing is the fans turn off and it's sweltering inside. i used to take him outside where it wasn't so dark/hot and we'd see the rest of the neighbourhood.
mylo is still screaming lots in pain from teething i guess- he had a 38.7 temp yesterday. then after wearing himself out he's sleeping so deeply that i have to wake him up for nappy changes/boobies - i even sucessfully expressed (so i didn't explode) which has been impossible with out a proper pump until now.
got olly a new wiggles dvd- i couldnt listen to the other one more time. this ones got 3 hours of wiggles on it- $15 well spent! he's still being needy as i think he feels the need to compete with mylo's crying. so often it's both boys howling! sigh.. this too will pass.
-
hi everyone,
i also know the troubles of toddler taming when yoa have a little one as well.
tia was 20 months old when alisha was born. and i wont say it was easy cos it wasnt.
mirani is doing well, snacking throughout the day so she doesnt ever have a full bottle. still sleeping through which is fantastic!
although during the day she is starting to need to be entertained. or she gets bored and screams. and also likes to be walked around the house in everyones arms to see what everyone else is up to. lil sticky beak!
-
Hoime girls :)
Just a quick visit for now
had a great weekend. we took the kids on a train which they loved.. Olivia travelled somuch better then I thought she would.. when it all got to much for her we would stop but if we weren't able to stop (hats go off to big city mums) I would express into a medicine cup and then syringe some BM into her and she was happy then :)
Anyways just doing a quick check in will be back a bit later.
Oh and Miss O has been asleep since 7:30 and I set up her cot around her and now just waiting for her to wake up to go out and organize something for lunch..
-
Nic, glad you had a good holiday. I would never have thought to express and syringe feed while on the move. Very clever.
Michelle, I want to conceive again before or around turning 35 (next March) which means Monique won't be 2 when the other is born (if all goes to plan) so I have a quiet groan when I read about toddlers and it 'not being easy'. Monique is a sticky beak as well which is great. She loves checking everyone out.
xtml, DH and I went out to dinner for my bday ( and without bubs). They had candles on the table which added a bit of romance. My poor sisters had a terrible time with Monique as she wouldn't drink from the bottle and nothing they did settled her so unfortunately it was action stations for them and they forgot about earth hour. Your bath sounds lovely.
BekZ, I hope your family is better.
Trish, good to 'see' you back. I hope Abbey gets better soon.
Buzzie, I love the pics on your website. Ash is gorgeous.
Morgan, any news on Vicky? I hope they don't need to operate.
We haven't had any rolls yet but she tried to do one on the change table a little while ago.
Monique had a massive spew this morning and I have never seen that much come out of a little person before. She also had a massive poo first thing so I wonder if she has a touch of something bad. What do you think? Little miss is awake so better be off to feed.
-
morning all!
sorry have been MIA... have had the child from hell last few days! NO sleep during the day, unsettled, grizzly and just whingy!! she did do an 11 hr sleep through the other night and last night slept for 10hr!! she was restless twice during the night but was still pretty much asleep and drifted off again! I still woke up a zillion times to start heating her milk thinking she was going to wake, but nope!! she's asleep again now... see how long that lasts!
Anyone with some tips on getting them to sleep during the day.. what works at night doesn't work during the day! ?!?!
Sorry for no personals, but i have read everyones posts! Love the pics!! Hope all bubs are better!!
xxx
-
Can I just say I am so totall exhausted today. Struggling to keep my eyes open this morning.
Olivia didn't sleep through last night *sigh* She woke at 2:30 but in her defense she slept alot yesterday (Haroula: just go away for 4 days she will sleep all day for you then ;) ) So I think she was hungry as she didn't have much BM yesterday.
Ethan has been up by 6am every morning for the last week but this morning now he has school he is still asleep grrrr.. I have to go wak him in a minute
oh and lots of pics from our weekend are here DropShots.com
-
Aren't we a quiet bunch :)
Had a good day in the end . Olivia had 2 naps and one decent sleep
Jacob and I fell asleep on the lounge floor at 2..
How are all the other bubba's doing?
-
My bubba isnt doing as well... we got rushed to the doctors today, Ash scratched his eye ball and woke up screaming at the top of his lungs, scared the crap out of me. The poor little thing tho, it kept watering and was so uncomfortable for him. Hes ok now, on antibiotics drops during the day and cream at night to keep infection away for the next 48hours.
Time to cut nails!!!!...................
Hope everyone is well.
-
Oh no Buzzie, I hope Ash gets better soon.
Great pics Nic. Olivia is getting really fair isn't she. Also, the hair is growing so not long until you can put those clips in!
Monique has been doing lots of spews lately mostly after a feed but sometimes in between. She never used to be a spewy baby so I have to keep a bib handy (or cloth nappy, they are sometimes big spews). Is this normal?
-
Hi to all - been lurking around but not had time to catch up.
Buzzie - poor Ash i hope his eye gets better quickly for you
Lara - i spoke too soon Alex decided to throw a monster tantrum today - 1.5hrs of constant screaming, dry retching and hyperventilating - decided to have a battle of wills with mum :wall:, wouldn't tidy his toys so i packed them away in the spare room and then he decided that he was not happy about having to sit on a bare floor with nothing to do - in the end he calmed down and after lots of cuddles he agreed to tidy up and all calm until tomorrow.
Bekz - how are your girls/dh feeling hopefully better
Haroula - during the day we wrap Vicky up nice & tight which helps her go to sleep and if she's unsettled i rock her to sleep & leave her to sleep on me normally sleeps for a good hour & i do it in front of the computer so i can hop on here
Tinsel - Vicky was really spewy and we found that putting her head & shoulders on a cushion when on the floor and a couple of blankets under the head of her bed has almost put a stop to it.
Nic - glad to hear Olivia got some sleep & u too
Trish - hope you are all feeling better. Hows thing with Brandon these days?
Vicky is having day surgery on Tues :(- admission time is 11.30am so DP is taking the day off to help with Alex. We are not allowed to give her any milk after 9.30am and she can only have 36mls of water between then & 11.30am so i hope we dont have to wait too long for the surgery cause she aint gonna understand that theres no eating. Thanks everyone for your support it's always appreciated.
-
Lauren: ouch.. poor Ash. I have to cut olivias nails every week.. They just don't stop growing lol. Hope his eye feels better soon
Kellie: She sure is.. I did put one clip in her hair but I scratched her head by accident taking it out :( so I haven't tried again
Morgan: :hugs: I hope all goes well with the surgery..
-
Haroula - i would love some tips on daytime sleeping too. Loren won't do any more than 45 min naps, I try to extend them but this only works some times. She is sleeping through the night and usually from 9pm till 6am so I shouldn't complain.
Nic - Glad you had a great time in Bris Vegas!!! I will look at your pics soon.
Buzzie - So to hear your little man has hurt his eye.
Miss Loren is rolling..yey. She has also taken to playing under her floor moblie.
Wow this time last year I got that little second line show up on my pg test.
In amongst our very busy lives here DH and I have decided to upgrade to a new house. We put our house on the market yesterday. I have seen a house that I would love to buy so we are crossing our fingers that ours gets some interest very soon.
I just keep thinking about all the packing...yuk. DH and I moved into this place straight out of uni, so we really did not have much at all. 5 years down the track, a marriage, and 2 babies....omg!!!!
-
Morning all.. well off for our 4 month needles today .. I hate needles
Bek: We ended up out at Logan on Sunday. I sat in the car dozing with Olivia while DH and my mum did some groceries  Dh's uncle lives out that way so we went visitiing.
I am trying to remember what date I did my test to find out Olivia was on the way. We were on holiday at Airlie Beach and I was super grumpy but we kept saying it was PMS lol.. I did a test when we got home and Voila!! Olivia was hiding in there
-
Good luck Vicky with the surgery - sending get better soon vibes
And OIivia with needles, hope it does hurt too much - ohhh i hate them so much!
-
morning ladies,
Buzzie - OMG poor little thing.. hope it clears up and he learns to keep those nails out of his eyes.... Chrissie has gotten better and isn't scratching herself so much now.. but i'm waiting for her to stick her finger in her eye too as she loves to grab her eye ball when sleepy! WT??!!
Tinsel - yeah Chrissie spews a bit... she's gotten much better since i put her on formula though.. she was MUCH worse on BM. :( I have those colours nappy squares on everything.. her play mat, swing, bed...when i burp her! LOL.... saves having to wash everything all the time! It goes away once they start solids! Elevating helps too!
Nic - good luck with the needles..!
morgan - thanks for the tip and GOOD LUCK with the surgery!! hope all goes real well!!
Bek - yeah can't complain with the night sleeping... Chrissie again has done 11 hrs! 7pm-6am!!!
xxx
-
I hate needle day :( My poor baby girl cried and cried and cried.. We just gave her some panadol now and she has settled down. She had her needles almost 2 hours ago and settled down enough to go get some groceries then we got home and she was just so upset :(
now for stats.. she weighs 6.8kg and is 63.5cm long. Apparently her head and chin are a little small  so we have to go back at 5 months but I am not the slightest bit worried as she is just tiny all over..
anyways hope you all have a good day. send me some sleep all night vibes please. Olivia woke at 2:30 and was awake till 4.. Beats me why! She hasn't done this for ages..
-
:hugs: for you & Olivia needles are soo awful :( & here is a kg bag of sleepy dust.
Vicky has decided that mums the place to sleep today & looks quite content atm.
-
Thanks for the sleepy dust. Olivia is using it right now :) hopefully we will use it tonight too
I love when they fall asleep on you. It is just so sweet
-
Needle time again, oh no. I thought I was brave but when you have to squish their little leg and hold it tight while they are crying, it is heartbreaking.
I hope Vicki's operation goes well next week.
I had a bit of a rude shock this morning when Monique woke me up at 2am for a feed. She hasn't done that for months. Her 'routine' was a bit out yesterday so she went to bed earlier than usual and then feeding time was all over the place.
After seeing Nic's video of Olivia swimming like an Olympian, I tried to get Monique kicking around but she is very quiet in the bath and likes to float and have a chat. She doesn't kick around or splash. Is anyone else's little one like that and is there an activity we could do to promote movement? She is outgrowing her baby bath so there isn't a lot of room for her to splash around and our main bath is a spa so is very deep and kills my back although I have been in there with her a couple of times.
-
Yawn...Miss Loren has been one sick little veggie mite. She has a chest infection courtesy of her big sister. I spent most of the day running around after doctors and getting xrays. Poor Loren did not sleep much because we were in and out of the car and every time she coughs she wakes up.
Tinsel - Re your question regarding the spewing. Sara started chucking up after a feed from around 3 months old. This lasted until she was around 6 months. She was a happy chucker and it did not bother her, so the pead said there was nothing to worry about. Two ways to tell if the chucking is affecting bub is weight gain and how settled bub is. Don't be concerned over lack of movement in the bath. Sara never did much kicking she just wanted to lay back and enjoy!!! Have you got a lie back baby holder for the bath? Loren has been in the big bath for weeks now, I put her in the holder and she loves it.
Hi to everyone. Been really emotional lately not sure why, maybe AF is on her way. Anyone else had AF return?
-
Kellie: Olivia has been like that in the bath almost from day 1. she just loves bath time. I remember Ethan and Isaac being little floaters. they just lay there and enjoyed the water..
Bek: hugs.. Poor little bubba being sick..
Bek do you want my AF. I am on my 3rd cycle since the 6th March.. yes 3rd in just under a month. 1st one lasted a week. 2nd one 5 days and I am now on CD 3. Majorly peeved off!! This exact same thing happened last March.. then I found out I was pregnant with Olivia lol I have a fibroid or at least I assume I still do. Last US I had with Olivia at 35 weeks showed a very small Fibroid still hiding in there. anyways back on topic.. Would you like my AF?? Please... I would kinda like to DTD again one day
-
nic - from one extreme to the next ash had his measurements too.. his weight is 90th percentile, length 95 and his head was off the scales!!!!!!!! LOL
bekz - sorry to her u got bugs all round :( hope everyone gets better soon.
No AF here but thought it might the other day but must of been just hormonal day.
Is anyone feeling clucky again or am i just going insane lol???
for some reason ive really started missing being pregnant which is weird cos i didnt like much about it. I have to admit i look forward to ash having a brother or sister.. hehe - 'slaps myself'
-
hi everyone
Bekz - No AF here yet and atm i really don't mind
Buzzie - when Vicky was 6 weeks DP & i agreed that there was no way we were ever doing this again but the last couple of weeks i've been seriously rethinking it and yesterday was telling DP that we could still look at it in about 3 or 4 years as then the other 2 will be at school/just starting so i would have more time to give a newborn during the day and as i'm only turning 30 this year certainly have some time to play with (hopefully) funny tho cause i dont think DP gets that im actually being serious
We bought Vicky a Fisher Price Rainforest play gym today - Toys R us had $30 off them and she thinks its great tho our lounge room is getting rather crowded with kiddy stuff now:rolleyes:
-
AF arrived today :( I suspected I was O'ing a couple of weeks ago, and well... I guess I was! At least I got a couple more months AF-free this time.. it returned at 3 months last time. And yay, it means if I can talk DH into it, we'll be set to TTC when DD is 1! hehe.
Morgan - I had to keep reminding DH that DS would be so much older when the baby is born, and very different. All DH could think of was having 2 babies the same, he kept forgetting just how much the first one would change in the 9 months until the baby came.
I haven't taken Kayla for her 4 month needles yet. woops. Must get onto that. Both kids were sick a couple of weeks ago, so that made me put it off longer too. And I haven't had Kayla weighed or measured either. I should do it.. just because it makes buying clothes easier. LOL. I don't know how long she is, so all the measurements in the clothing doesn't mean anything to me! I've worked out that she needs 00 pants and 000 tops (prolly coz of the cloth nappies that she's up a size in pants).
Hope everyone is well. gotta put DS to bed, catch up soon :)
-
Ah I have non sleepers. Jacob and Olivia have both woken the last 3 nights. so tiring.. oh well...
We were shopping today and I had Olivia in the sling. It wasn't hot as such but I noticed she was getting quite sweaty so I thought she might have been getting hot against,, then next minute she started dry heaving and before I had time to get her out she threw up on me. Not heaps. but the poor baby girl was so pale and sweaty. then she fell asleep. I was so worried there was something wrong so we went home and when she woke up she was all fine. Colour back and so were the smiles. I hope she just got a little over heated..
Anyways hope everyone else is having a wonderful weekend!!
-
Hi Bek, it's good to know that there is nothing to worry about re the spews. She is a happy spewer as well so I won't worry. I make sure I elevate her as much as possible after a feed and she practically lives in a bib now (esp with all the drooling as well). I hope everyone gets well soon. I was just wondering yesterday when AF turns up again.
Nic, Monique loves bath time too but I guess she just enjoys floating around. I am sure she will kick around one day. Poor little Olivia, glad that she is back to normal.
Buzzie, way to go Ash! It seems like all the boys we know born within two weeks of Monique are going great guns. Monique is in the 90th percentile for her length and weight. And yes, I am clucky again after having cuddles with my brand new nephew. We are going to try again in December I think as I don't want to leave it much past 35 (next March).
I think Monique has a cold as she has a runny nose. Also, she has weeping eyes but mostly in her left eye. Does anyone know what this is? It isn't red although it was a little puffy today but has settled down. Should I squirt some milk into it? I have massaged the corner of her eye as well in case it is a blocked tear duct. This is the part I am not looking forward to, all the sickness symptoms and not knowing what to do.
-
I wish AF would just hurry up and get here...I am bloated like a pig, my ovaries hurt, I am emotional and my skin and hair are so oily. Hey sounds like I am pregnant!!! Not....
Little Loren seems to be getting better. I am praying for a decent nights sleep. Between Loren being sick and Sara have night mares I am not getting much sleep at all. No wonder I feel and look like a hag.
Nic - You poor thing re AF...bugger that. Although I do know how you feel, as I had all sorts of issues with AF after Sara was born.
I had Loren weighed at the Doctors and she is just on 6kgs. I will take her to the nurse this week for full measurements etc.
Loren just would not sleep for me today. I wasted most of the day trying to put her to sleep. She was happy enough but I thought she needed more sleep so I spent most of my day taking her in and out of the cot. DH thinks I should just let her be if she is not cranky.
Tinsel - If Monique is getting a cold then she could have conjunctivitis. If the redness does not go down by tomorrow I would be taking her to the doc. It is very common for bubs to get conjunctivitis when they get colds.
Yep I am clucky again. Although since having 2 sick kids for the past 2 weeks I am having my doubts. I really don't know if I could handle any more kids, and I really don't know how many times I want to go through the terrible 2s!!! eeek
At the same time I miss being pregnant and I would love to do that all over again. DH wants to ttc when Loren is one, assuming I got pregnant straight away and I did not miscarry that would mean I would have 3 kids under 4. My other thought would be to leave ttc until Loren is 2 and Sara 4, that way Sara would be going off to school. On the other hand I would not mind going back to uni and getting myself back to work etc and just be happy with 2 kids.
-
bekz - do uthink the 2 yr gap between ur 2 has worked well for u. ?? - and anyone else with that age gap....
ive decided to contemplate ttc wen Ash turns 2.
-
Buzzie - One of my friends always told me to try and leave 2.5 years between kids. Of course I did not listen to her and we had Loren when Sara was 25 months. I now realise my friends logic behing her advice. We had Loren just when Sara was toilet training, she had just given up her bottle and she was just in a big bed. Not to mention that she was not used to walking calmly by my side at shopping nor did she understand many instructions. Sara really was still very much a toddler. Now only 4 months later my little toddler has matured heaps, and she is toilet trained, she'll take instructions (not always),she helps me out and she adores her baby sister. Although the last 4 months have been really busy and tiring trying to deal with a newborn and a toddler in full training mode. I guess you have to decide whether you want Ash to be more independant when bub number 2 comes along. On the other hand my SIL had 3.4 years between her 2 and she seems to think the age gap is too long. If we decided on number 3 we will be ttc when Loren is 2. HTH
-
Buzzie - I agree with Bekz that at least 2.5yrs is probably a little easier we had Vicky when Alex was 2 and it has and still can be really hard especially on her crappy days when she needs almost constant attention of some sort. i would look at having Ash in care for a least 1 maybe 2 days each week we hadn't done this and really wish we had - and start this a few months before the new arrival so as to avoid any issues - so you have time with the new addition and also time to catch up on sleep as from 2yrs on they normally only have 1 if any naps during the day. Also make sure you have a few family/friends around you can call on to help out especially in the first 3 months. And maybe look at using some of the baby bonus to pay for a cleaner once a week - one less thing to worry about. HTH
Well i'm a little stressed out tonight at Vicky has her op tomorrow. The hospital called today to confirm and hopefully she will be first on the list but they dont start surgeries until 1.30pm and we cant give her any milk after 9.30am - she feeds 3hr atm so dont know how we going to go with that one :dunno:
I am a very proud mummy today tho as Alex did his first poo in his potty  he normal hides in his cupboard but just a bit :( my little boy is growing up so fast now.
-
Isaac was 23 months when we had Jacob and I found that quite an east transition. although Jacob was 27 months when i had Olivia and it was much harder but I think it had more to do with the amount of kids I had..
I think the 2 or there abouts age gap is good :)
Been a pretty good day here. Went fishing yay.. had a fun time. Isaac had an allergic reaction to something and was covered in a icky rash. We took him to the chemist and he said he was fine but it was an allergic reaction to something.
hope everyone has a good week
-
Morgan - All the best for Vicky tomorrow.
Nic - I hope Isacc is ok
Best go and spend some time with DH...poor man gets no attention from me now and then I get on BB and thats me for the night.
-
Morgan: sorry I forgot in my last post to say good luck for tomorrow. I hope vicky goes ok without any feeds. ((hugs)) thinking of you
-
Vicky I hope all goes well today. Poor Vicky having to go that long without a feed. You'd think the hosp would be smarter when it comes to little babies :(
I have a 2 year 9 month gap between Joel and Brandon, 2 years and 10 months between Noah and Tehya, and 2 Years 8 months between Tehya and Abbey. So yes, we can see when I'm fertile. I would have to say taht as trying as it is, this is a great age gap. The older one is more independant, although you can pretty much guarentee the minute I am getting Abbey to sleep Tehya wants her butt wiped.
I agree in having the toddler in pre school/daycare before bub arrives too, even it's just a day a week. It gives you a days break when preg, and also a day for just you and bub once it is here. Also by starting the toddler at daycare before bubs arrival it won't feel as though it is being pushed out of the way iykwim. Not that it is what you are doing of course.
I hope everyone is going well. I do read what is going on with everyone, I just rarely get the chance to post.
Abbey is getting over her chest infection thankfully and my happy little girl is back. She has turned into a thumb sucker now. Funny I was feeding her the other night and she holds onto my boob while feeding, anyway I looked down at her and she had slipped her thumb in beside my nipple into her mouth so she was sucking on both. PMSL, Obviously my nipple wasn't enough for her.
-
 thats pretty funny. (thumb/nipple sucking)
We have poop issues again. 7 days this time. finally this morning she did one. I am hoping that was the reason she has stopped sleeping through!
-
Kayla has started sucking her thumb too! I've been quickly replacing it with a teething ring or something tho... I don't like thumb suckers LOL. How on earth do you wean off the thumb??? I don't wanna begin to think about it. Having trouble getting rid of Tallon's hair habit (playing with my hair as comfort).. let alone weaning of something so readily available.
Oh, and as for sleep, Kayla is a hopeless sleeper at the moment :( Driving me mental.
-
Liz - Alex does that hair thing & it is starting to bug me & he sucks his thumb:doh:
Trish - love the thumb/nipple
Thanks to all for you well wishes will let you know how we go later today
