Yeah, I should also be in bed!!!
Just a quick one while passing through...
Trish- LOVE the pics of Abbey, she is sooooo cute. Wow you take great photos too!
Is anyone doing Baby-Led introduction of solids?
I am being a complete sooky sooky lah lah tonight. I just can't make myself go to bed (hence writing this at midnight) because my little girl is sleeping in her 'big bed' in her 'big girl room' for the first time :-( I am being a wimp I know.
Awww Alicia, hugs to you huni. I hope you managed to get some sleep. How did Olivia go in her cot ? I still haven't braved it overnight. But more from my own laziness, Abbey wakes so frequently I'd rather just have to roll over to her cot then walk in the cold to another room.
Carrie, tell me about the baby led solids ? Thanks for the comments on Abbey's pictures. Ahh you see, to get great pics you need to take about 50 ;) TBH though I was lucky, I took a few pics, prob 30 or so and got quite a few gorgeous ones. Got to love digital hey.
Nic, guessing your not going away then hun. Is it still raining up there ? Thought it was the land of sunshine ;) I do the same as you my eyes will be sooo tired but I stay up on the puter just enjoying no kids. I have to be on here though, if I'm on the lounge I crash out. Just like I did lastnight and missed the end of Big Brother again.
LoriRae, I hope you got some sleep too. Yep, another one in the BB addiction group. I think there are alot of us like that on here.
Michelle, good to hear Mirani is feeling better, but it's no good about you. I hope you can find some answers at the Dr's.
Abbey is having the tantrums too. Was going to ask teh otehr day if anyone elses bubs were doing the who.e abck arching. Abbey also has a big cry if I go near her and don't pick her up. Or if I pick her up to move her and then put her down. like into her seat or the car. She does the biggest sooky cry. Like a big girl cry. It's very sad to hear. She sounds heartbroken.
I want the breastmilk poos back !! I swear Abbey's nappy this morning looked just like the food I fed her lastnight. She ate the whole jar of pear and banana. But gee it made her fart something shocking.
Lucky we have a later football game this mornign. Kick off is at 9.45. It's very foggy here atm. There is a note on the time slip about canteen duty. DP keeps telling me I have to do it. And tbh I really wouldn't mind, but....... I can't be stuffed. LOL. Maybe later on in the year. Abbey is my cop out. I mean, what if she needs feeding while I'm in there ;)
Alicia - i would be exactly the same. i couldnt imagine not cuddling ash every night!
The new nappies are kinda similar but there in a new lighter colour blue box - still pooh box but the nappies inside seem thinner and more cheaper looking...
Ash is in walkers so i dont know if all the nappies have changed, i only saw this box in the new cardboard.
I think its been a while since someone asked a TMI questions so i thought i would jump in with one LOL - i asked before about TTC and not having ur AF and some ppl said temp is hard to go by so just watch ur CM but what if you barely get that too????? OK ill give in.... guess whos planning TTC!!! ive been talking to my ex and told him i really want to have another bubs with him cos i sooooooooo dont want different kids to different dads and will do anything for ash to have a biological brother or sister. He said he would want to get back with me... but to be honest i just want babies with him LOL i know it sounds bad... i guess coming from a divorced family it doesnt bother me ...He wanted to wait a bit but i said i want one now LOL so hes thinking about it....
Trish - are u from Qld or syd? i cant rememba.....
Carrie: Not sure how to do baby led solids?
Alicia: How did it go last night? I always hate the first night. I am a bigger sook.. my bubs are usually 1 or older before we move them.
Trish: Nope not going anywhere :( still raining.. We need the rain again though as everything is very dry so we will try again next weekend :D Don't you hate those big girls cries.. So sad. Olivia does that in the car seat and it breaks my heart especially when we can't stop so I can calm her down
Lauren: I am not sure about TTc without Af I always get mine back early. Bf and TTC never stopped us though. Good Luck though :)
Well we started solids today.. Daddy fed her and while not overly impressed witht he first couple bits she seemed to like the new taste. Loved her spoon and sat playing with that for a while too.
At the moment she is on the floor screaming at Daddy's foot  I think she is ready for a nap. I am waiting to see if Dh will pick her up  He has said to me twice now I think she is ready for a sleep and twice I answered yes and i not long fed her.. And he just picked her up and she is arching her back.. Looks like boobies will be needed after all
Thanks for the support ladies. Olivia slept beautifully in her own room, I didn't sleep very well though (kept checking on her). She still woke at 2:30 for food but we gave her the bottle in her cot, she ate it and went straight back to sleep. She even woke up this morning and had a little play and chat in the cot by herself (until I went and got her for a cuddle). I would have liked to wait longer too Nic, but DH was pretty keen to get her into her own room and she was getting a little cramped in the bassinette.
Trish, I managed to get a photo of Olivia's little toothy smile so I will upload it soon. It is very cute.
Hi Ladies,
Just thought I would take a break from packing up the house and before DD1 wakes up.
Nic - Loren is a master tanty chucker. She kicks her legs, waves her arms and shakes her head whilst screaming so hard her little face turns bright red.
LoriRae - Congrates on your bfing achievement. You are a champ!!!
Alicia - I was just about to ask how Olivia's night in her big bed went but I you posted. I swear it does get better. I used to set my alarm every 2 hours to get up and check on Loren. No need now she wakes up and screams instead!!!
I am actually quite worried about Loren being in her new room because it is on the opposite end of the house to our bedroom. Her current bedroom is right next to ours so I hear everything even without the monitor. I ask DH if we could have her in our room but he is not keen at all...I really don't know why he never hears her and never ever wakes through the night.
Janine - Congrates on the land...happy house building
Happy 7 months to Sofia
Jus - I hope you are feeling better soon.
Trish - I love Abbey's pics
Michelle - I had read your previous posts and have been thinking about you over the week. I really hope the pnd stays away and the doc figures out what is up.
Teena - Hi I am glad all is getting better.
Ok I need to be quick, because miss Loren is going to crack it. I have tried solids but Loren is so not into them. I think it is because she is sick and teething.
What time of day should I try solids? Loren is not good at morning feeding, in fact she rarely has a full bottle until around lunch time so I thought she may not take solids first up.
Oh dear I have a really cranky bub here. She will only sleep for 10 mins at a time and even then it is a screaming match to get her down. Best go
Sorry just need to add to my last post
Rory - Good luck with you new job
Buzzie -All the best with TTC number 2. I thought I wanted another bub and was going to ttc later this year but lately I am not so sure.
Question: Has anyone given teething rusks yet?
Bek, yes Abbey has had rusks. She had them before her solids. I think they gave her gums some relief when she was cutting teeth. Sure did make a mess with them.
Yuck at packing up the house too. I hate doing that. Thankfully I haven't moved too many times although it is great for having a clean up. Have a good solution for DH and Loren. Put him in the other room and bub in with you ;)
Alicia, will have to have a look at that pic. Toothy smiles are just as cute as those gummy ones hey :D
Nic, my DP is the same. He was walking around with a very grumpy baby yesterday and I said to hism a couple of times she's very tired. He does the walk past me and gives me the look that says here take her. But I just said cuddle her with her dummy. Had to tell him twice of course, because just like the kids he doesn't listen. Eventually he did it and Abbey fell to sleep. Hmmm hate to say I told you so.....
Lauren, I'm in Sydney hun. Why ? you coming up for a visit are you ? Hmm TTC again hey. Nope, not for me. And I'm not sure how you 'd go about it just yet. I guess it depends on how much your breastfeeding. The quickest way for AF to come back is to cut the night feeds altogether. Not sure if you want to do that though.
Hi all,
Just a quick one...
Trish- Canteen duty? Oh, the joys of parenthood, all these fun things I have to look forward to ;)
Lauren- TTC again? You're a brave woman. lol I remember when you asked the AF question- i thoguht you were worried about getting pregnant, not trying to get pregnant!! Haven't seen the new nappies yet, but Huggies are on huge special at Coles so we've stocked up.
Alicia- Glad it went well. Ty is in his cot but still in our room and will be for a while- like Trish, i think I just couldn't hack the getting up and going to another room to get him. He'll stay in ours for a lot longer i think, at least until we get some decent night sleeps.
Nic- men. Yes, the baby needs to go to sleep so put the baby to sleep. Rocket science?? Must be for them.
Can't remember who asked but we do teething rusks- Ty loves munging on them. Makes a huge mess but helps with the whiny teething thing. He munches through half a rusk at a time.
We actually ahd the best sleep we've had for about three months last night. Three hours then four hours then four hours. Bliss!! And Ty is in such a good mood today- laughing and burbling and kicking his legs. Priceless!!
Hope we are all have a very good weekend. It's such beautiful weather in Sydney :)
evening all :) Olivia ended up sleeping for 2 and half hours this afternoon.. And what did i do... i googled and BB'd  I semi folded some wahsing hehe.. Dh cooked dinner and make chocolate fudge.. I feel rested..
this evening was nice.. Olivia went to bed at 7.. boys at 7:30 Ethan still up but watching a doco in his room :) Listening to the rain falling outside.. nice!!
Been thinking bout the solids thing.. would tuesday be too soon to offer some pumpkin? or sweet tata? Just wanted to do it before Simon went back to work for the week? I can wait till Friday..
Anyhoo.. Off to look and read.. and if anyones interested.. Solids video at DropShots.com and plenty of pics :)
Hi all...
LoriRae - Send some sunshine this way please i need to get my washing dry
BekZ - Good to hear from you...where are you moving too? IMO i would offer solids no later than lunch just in case of any reactions...no rusks or anything here yet might end up trying something once Vicky is better tho as she seems to be losing the tongue thrust reflex.
Alicia - glad to hear Olivia had a good night hopefully you'll be able to sleep a little better yourself tonight. Vicky is in her cot but i managed to con DH into leaving her in our room
Nic - men i've been getting grumpy with DP for the exact same thing...Vicky's eyes will be super red and he pops her on the floor to play  yep i asked him if it was rocket science and well i wont repeat his response but for crying out loud its not like this the the 1st bub either. The fun starts now with solids i think the "experts" recommend about 3 days between different foods so Tues should be fine...hopefully Olivia will start sleeping even more for you.
Buzzie - Good luck with the TTC and if you find out how to tell when O is happening let me know as i have the same prob as you and i do not want any more littles yet.
Michelle K - Glad to hear that Mirani is better and i hope all goes well for yourself at the Dr's
Trish (& Nic) - Funny i was going to ask about the tantrums too...we've been having them here for almost a month now...the last one was cause i sneezed and disturbed her nap (little miss) i asked the Dr about it cause Vicky will scream for 30mins and its so loud my ear drums actually vibrate...apparently its just a phase:(
Jus - I hope you are feeling less stressed today...it really does get overwhelming at times and make the most of having family over to help. Glad to hear that you got some good tips from the BB Ladies...where would we all be without this place;)
Well Vicky does have a mild case of Bronchilitus but she is feeding fine and plays well so just have to keep an eye on her. We made the most of a little bit of sunshine this afternoon and took the kids to the Botanical Gardens and fed the ducks was a bit windy but i feel like some of the cobwebs are blown away now. Still not getting much sleep, last night Vicky woke at 11pm for a feed and didn't go back to sleep until 1am and then was awake again at 4.30am lucky i was able to just pop her on the boob and she snoozed there until 5.30am when she wanted a proper feed and to get up..yawn...hopefully this wont last much longer...DP has decided to go next door tonight and have some beers with the boys...wish i could have a night off. Have a great Sunday all.
Hey everyone, good to hear how you're all doing. slightly less stressful day today (tho less sleep last night too, knew I shouldn't have said things were getting better). Told DH she was his daughter for a while, I needed a break. Good man took over then...
Random question: has anyone got/investigated loveys for their bubs? (from elizabeth pantley). She likes Snoedels (spelling?) & I've seen Ookies as well, but still not quite convinced they're sids safe. Ella got given something very similar to those toys, but I'm uneasy (also it's not natural fibres). Am wanting to give her one. Anyone else got any ideas?
Happy sleeping :)
Hi Jus,
We have a cuski for Olivia whick looks pretty much like a snoedel. They are a UK thing and apparently used in the hospitals there with the premmie babies (they have a website, just google it). We got one as she was not a great day time napper but it has helped a lot (as well as with night sleeps). I slept with it the first night so that it has my scent and then gave it to her. Sometimes she actually likes to pull it onto her face and go to sleep like that, which I admit I was worried about at first but it is very light so it is not a problem and I just sneak in after she has dozed off and put it next to her head, then she snuggles her nose into it - very cute. Hope this helps.
hi everyone,
need to vent,
so p**sed off at dp, well mainly fustrated. i feel so under appreciated. he's been home for a week and a half, changed 1 nappy, given 1 bottle and fed solids maybe 5 or 6 times. michy, can i have a cup of tea?:wall: michy, can you pass me the remote?:wall: michy, can you change the baby?:wall: michy, where's my socks?:wall: i swear i want to change my name and run away sometimes.:crying:
just dont know what to do anymore.:(
trish: did dp ever go through with that versectimy? or was it just a sly scheme to make you think he'd have one done so you'd get preg again?:)
Trish-I was reading about baby-led intro of solids in the Gymbaroo mag. It (very basically) is allowing your bubba to choose what they eat through exploration of food – providing them with a range of soft finger foods and allowing them to explore it themselves rather than giving them pureed food. They comment that it is especially applicable for BF bubs who are used to regulating their own food intake. Just interested to see if anyone was doing it.
Re: tantrums, I’ve noticed that Gabe does a similar thing – the sooky cry he does kind of goes : aha aha aha aha and he looks at me with sad eyes.
Buzzie- Sorry, can’t help on the TTC without AF info, have you had a look in the TTC threads, I’m sure there is a wealth of info there. TTC for DH and I includes booking in for IVF ICSI when we are ready lol! Pretty exciting though!
Nic- I had a look at the solids video, sooo cute, I love the faces they pull when trying a new taste! I’m glad to see that my DH isn’t the only one who waits for me to pick up bubs.
Alicia- I’m glad to hear that Olivia seemed to enjoy her first sleep in her cot. Hope that tonight is the same
BekZ- Like Loren, Gabe is also in the room next to us. I’m waiting to move him down into his own bigger room until he sleeps through more at night (atm he wakes up way to often and would only wake up DD if he was in a room near hers).
LorRae-Woohoo for your good sleep. Fingers crossed there is more to come!
Morgan- Hope that you get a better sleep tonight!
Jus- I’ve got no idea what snoedels and ookies are – sounds like something from ‘The night garden’ hehe. Are they like Taggies?
Michelle- I understand how you feel, my DH was home sick for a week and I couldn’t wait for him to go back to work! Is he back at work soon?
Gabe has been having lots of little tanties over the last few days – don’t know whats wrong, but I hope he settles down soon. Hoping to get out of the house tomorrow to check out new dishwashers – lets hope it eventuates, by the time I get everything ready with Kyla and Gabe I sometimes wonder whether it’s worth it – Trish I don’t know how you do it!
Michelle:  If possible pop baby on his lap and say a cup of tea would be nice and go find a good book and curl up on the couch.. Watch his jaw drop ;)
Morgan: I hope you got some great sleep last night. I hear you on the scream that bursts your ear drums. omg Olivia is so loud sometimes.
Jus: Olivia doesn't have anything like a lovey yet but my boys do. Little cot sized blankets and bears. I am kinda hoping Olivia doesn't develop that habit to be honest even though it is cute it can be very annoying picking up blankets and bears all the time. My eldest doesn't have one just my 4 and 2 yr old.
Alicia: That sounds so adorable.. ignore what I said above. I now want Olivia to have one
Carrie: Thanks. I have videoed all my kids having solids for the first time and they all the same face excet Olivia was the only one to smile like that  That is interesting about the baby led solids. i don't think it is for me but I am going to have a read up on it today. I might introduce finger foods earlier with Olivia then I did with the boys..
Can I just say WOO HOO. I have just had the BEST nights sleep. Olivia slept 7pm to 6am.. Can you believe it. Silly me didn't get to bed till late but I still had 6 and a half hours sleep which is the most I have had in over 6 months.. I don't feel all foggy this morning.. you know when ou wake and you can't lift out of that sleepiness? well only had that for about 2 seconds this morning..
Olivia has fed and is happily playing on the floor with Ethan. they are boh laying under her play gym  Still wet and rainy here.. Going to have to get out and about today cabin fever is setting in.
Well all kidlets awake now.. Jacob just started whining. WHY?? He has been all cuddled up next to me for the last 40 minutes and now he whines.. DH still in bed. I will be a good wifey and let him sleep ;)
