Lauren saw you on ACA very cool! And Asher is such a handsome little man. Can't belive how short is was but... you'd think, they way they advertised it last week it would be a major story... my mothers group were all looking forward to watching it.
Beks- FlyLady.net: Your personal online coach to help you gain control of your house and home (am I allowed to put links on here? sure one of the mods will remove it if I'm not. sorry in advance mods). House cleaning and declutter coach. I'm in love with her. We're not changing the carseat yet but Ty is tiny, only just 7 kilos, so definately not ready for it.
Just saw you Buzzie, you and Ash were great.
lauren: you and Ash look gorgeous :) Asher is just way to cute :)
Trish: :p
LoriRae: Will go check out that link in a sec.. I desperatly need my house decluttered
We haven't turned olivia around either and have no plans to any time soon.. When she can sit up quite well I will do it.. My car seat only goes to 9kg though..
Ah all my babies in bed. Olivia had farex again this afternoon. She semi liked. I also expressed some extra milk and fed that to her from the spoon so she associated the spoon with something happy kwim? I waited till this afternoon to give her the solids in the hope she will sleep 11 hours again lol.. she went to bed at 7:30 so fingers crossed :)
Well done Lauren and Ash!!! Very brave of you, not sure I could stand watching myself on tv :-)
Was some of it filmed at the BB center?
Buzzie, you looked great and Ash is so big and cute! You didn't appear nervous at all.
Buzzie - you both looked great...what a gorgeous boy Asher is...shame it was so short though.
Nic - hope you get that sleep :crossfingers: im thinking little miss might be wanting to start her solids as she has lost the tongue thrust reflex now and copies our chewing motions which is soo cute. Glad to hear you dont have to have the surgery, hope it doesn't get any worse tho.
LoriRae - Good on you for keeping up with the "flylady" i've given up with stressing over the housework atm with a clingy bub & toddler i just told DP that he's going to have to do it all for a little while or let me get a cleaner as it was starting to really get me down and i flat out refuse to clean the house at 8/9 o'clock at night. BTW Vicky's only 7kgs too.
Im really excited as Vicky started to noticeably "speak" today and she did it when DP was home so he didn't miss out. Can anyone suggest some ideas of things/ways i can sit her up as she is over lying around all day and is supporting her weight really well. Hope everyone has a good night
Nic, I hope you got another decent night in. Fro us it didn't make a difference if I gave Abbey her solids in the night or not. She still won't sleep. Lastnight was a perfect copy of the night before. Seems Abbey is going to sleep just like Tehya did. Hardly at all !!
I had my wrist operated on when Brandon was 9 months old (that's why he weaned then) I had a gangloid(sp) removed. My hand was so swollen and bruised for weeks/months afterwars and I had to have physio on it to be able to move it again. Still now some 13 years later I have no sensation in the top of my hand. Nerve damage was done. I hope that you can hold out as long as possible to have your done.
Bek, nope I won't be turning Abbey around until she is closer to 12 months old. My seat goes rear facing until 12 kgs. Tehya is 3 and only weighs 14kgs. So I think Abbey has plenty of time like that yet. I just feel so much safer having them rear faced. I am very sorry to hear of your gf's loss. Sending all the healing vibes to her and her DH.
LoriRae, Ty sounds similar to Abbey in size. Her last weigh in she was only 6.5kgs that was at 6 months.
Morgan, uhh ohh, now that she is talking she will never shut up you know that hey ;) Abbey is so damn vocal now, her squealing is nearly constant. It starts of all sweet and then gets louder and stronger as she gets cranky.
As I said another very crap night here. Abbey is being a total pita overnight, yesterday afternoon she was shocking too. Just could not get her to sleep, and then as she would start to wind down she wriggle and fuss so badly. Fighting her sleep. She contiued this until late lastnight.
Both girls are up at the crack of dawn today. So I can't even sit her with a little quiet. Abbey has begun her whinging already.
Lord give me strength to get through another day
ugh. Olivia woke at midnight and it was 1 before she went back to sleep.. I am more annoyed that poor Dh was just sooooo tired this morning that when all the kids piled in with us he went to Isaacs bed
Trish: When Abbey is fussing like that are you holding her or is she in her bed? Olivia has started doing that so I pop her in her cot and boom she goes to sleep.. not everytime. Sometimes she just needs a little time out (not the punishment time out) she just needs a dark quiet room and sometimes she falls asleep and other times she just plays for a while and comes back out feeds and goes right to sleep
Nic, I have tried both but I really should try putting her down more often to settle on her own. Will try to do that more today.
Morning ladies :)
sorry haven't been around lately! i have been trying to keep up with READING everyone's posts at least! so i see there's lots of stuff happening!! There's no way i could do personals, but hope everyone is doing well!!
Chrissie is on 3 meals a day now and loving it! Well, as long as it has either sweet pot, corn or carrot in it! a bit of a sweet tooth i think, just like mum..! We'll be starting on chicken next week!
I have no idea how much she "should" be eating... yesterday she ate (for dinner) about 120ml of food and 60ml of desert (fruit) and she would have kept going but i stopped her..! should i just let her eat and hope she tells me she has had enough??....?? what do you experts say!?
No teeth yet.. well non that i can see, as she doesn't let me look! i can feel sharp bits when i rub bonjella on her gums, but when i try and look she screws her mouth up shut! LOL:rolleyes:
well, will try and be back a little more often, but with the little one not sleeping much during the day it's hard to get all the housework done and get time to myself!! arg!
xxx
Hey girls.
Trish - you poor thing :( Is she teething? Kayla's 2 bottom teeth are up now, and more visible (too cute) but she's chomping away and dribbling again as if there's more coming, so I'm half expecting some bad nights shortly. She still wakes a couple of times through the night, but at least there's a few hours inbetween.
Well, it seems I'm going to be the last to start solids! I think I am going to go with BLS, it serves my laziness beautifully LOL. Will probably just give her a stick of steamed carrot or brocolli or something sometime soon. I will probably make up some cooked apple to mix with cereal occassionally.. I'm not going to forego spoon feeding all together, coz she needs to learn it sometime hehe... but I think I'll just give her stuff off my plate most of the time.
Morgan - I'm tossing up getting a Bumbo. I didn't really like the look of them when I first saw them, but I'm actually thinking about it now for Kayla hehe. Coz she just loves to sit. I usually sit her in the highchair when we're eating at the table, she has a rocker, but it's too reclined for her. We also have a playplace type thing which she sits in and plays with the toys. She loves that. (it's kinda like a walker, but doesn't move iykwim).
Haroula - welcome back! hehe. I would think if you can feel sharp bits in her gums that she's cut already. As for how much solids - I've no idea. I never measured it with DS, and this time with DD as I said, she'll just be feeding herself. hehe. Milk is her main food until 12 months, so she can do what she wants with the solids ;) I like the saying that was quoted in another thread 'food is for fun until they are one!' (something like that anyway lol)
Hope we all have good days today. It's raining and so dark this morning! I need to do washing tho, so I'll have my clothes airers all around the house again no doubt.
Again I haven't been around for a little while so once again fingers crossed to everyone for just one good night sleep. No doubt we all need it.
The decision is long lasting. I have however steamed all my own vegie's and fruit for my little girl and have bought all organic so I am hoping that I am giving her a good start in life and also helping the environment along the way.
I would be very interested to hear about how much "food" everyone's little one is eating and drinking. I am absolutley paranoid that the amount I give her now will set her eating habits up for life.
Arh!! Just another thing to worry about....
Thanks in advance girls!
Liz, your so very right about the food. At the moment Abbey only gets solids if I can be bothered. BM is her food. Somedays she has it and others she doesn't.
Atleast you don't have to go out in this crap weather. I have to take Noah to school very soon, and we have swimming at 11. Abbey is having a feed and slowly falling to sleep. She nneds to hurry up. Noah starts school at 8.45 !!
Yes Abbey's top teeth are moving down, can see them very clearly in there.
Haroula, 3 meals a day at 5 months seems a little much to me. She really doesn't need that much until closer to 8 months. Milk should be her primary food. Solids do not replace a feed at this age. And yep, if your feeling something sharp I'd say it's a tooth.
hehe thanks everyone...
Alicia - the whole thing was shot at the centre, except the home cams but it was funny cos the camera men constantly cracked it cos they wanted so many different back grounds and there wasnt much choice.
kts64s - i plan on only buying organic for ash too, theres just so many chemicals in foods these days. i wish i could eat it myself too tho.
Trish - do they only have one meal a day till 8 months???
Lauren, I guess it's totally up to you as a mum, I find incresing the meals gradually works better. So by 7 months 2 feeds etc. But as I said it's up to the individual and the baby.
LOL at the cameramen. I was waiting for your hometime scene. So did she cure Ash's problem of seperation anxiety ? Abbey is going through it something shocking atm.
Abbey is having the organic baby foods. ATM I haven't had a chance to make up my own. But it truelly is on my to do list :D
ETA, forgot to say Lauren, because Ash is a bigger bub he might want more food though. Up to you whether you make that up with more BF or solids.
Buzzie: I wish I could afford for DH and I to also eat that way too. I have decided though that I am going to take time to look at our spending and tighten things up so when our little one is eating what we eat we continue to offer her organic food. I just think if I only do it for the first twelve months then stop I should not have bothered.
I'm going to really try and keep organised with shopping and meals etc so we can do this for her. We don't have a terrible amount of money so she will never be spoilt with material things and this I think is a far better 'gift' to her than any toys.
I know it will take a lot of time and planning but I am just going to keep reminding myself that it is the best gift I can give her.
HOpe everyone has a great day! The weather is revolting here and we are ment to go out for lunch. Would love to get out of the house but is it really worth it in this weather?
haha well thats just it... Ash never had a problem. i made it up, hence being so nervous ... im a terible liar! lol
They wanted a mum to take a cam home to record there bubs,, and i said dont give it to me.. ash never cries! LOL and hes sleeps with me at night so u wont get a baby crying in its cot shot cos why cry when mummys right next to him haha
That's true hun. Abbey rarely gets a chance to cry overnight. I just shove a bb in her mouth. Quietens her up pretty fast.
haha Trish, try telling Chrissie there's only 1 meal a day! hmmmm not gonna work, she screams the house down when we sit down to have lunch or dinner and ONLY shuts up if we give her food..!!! that's one of the reasons i started her early on solids.. she even drinks from a glass occasionally!! She still has 4 bottles of milk a day too!..she only ever used to have 5!
Morgan and Liz - We were given a bumbo and have fond it really useful. Olivia used to sit in it a couple of months ago as practice, and now she sits in it really well on her own. Try one out in the shop though as friends passed theirs onto us because their little girls chubby legs didn't fit through the holes for long!
Terrible night here. Olivia is sounding like she has a really blocked nose so last night she was having trouble breathing with her dmmy in but wouldn't go to sleep without the dmmy! I feel like I was up all night with the poor little bub. At the moment though she is full of beans and trying to roll out of the lounge room door! She really is turning into a cheeky little thing.
OK off to do some housework before mothers group.
hmm I think we are going to give solids a rest.. Watching Olivia just now she is gagging when it is going down.. She really isn't showing any signs of knowing what to do. I guess behaviour wise nothing has changed and it won't effect her in any way if I just stop.. so stop we shall do :) Might try again in a week or so. I know Jacob didn't take to solids till 7 months and was only eating one meal a day at 8 and a half month byt 9 months he was on 2 meals a day and he was fully BF and was huge !!
I have been a good little housewife today ;) I have cleaned and mopped and dusted and all that other fun stuff.. Only done 2 rooms but what a difference it has made..
Haroula: I started my eldest on solids at 4 months and he was eating 3 meals a day at 5 months. in hindsight I should have probably waited but back then I didn't know what to do and just did whatever.. If you think Chrissie needs 3 meals a day and she is a happy and settled child for the day and night (within reason) then trust your mummy instincts.. IMO if she is eating it and happy then she is ok.. I guess if you wanted maybe lessen the amount at each meal.. I think from memory Ethan was having a cup of veges at night and less then that for the other 2 meals..
BBL Olivia hungry :)
I am super happy atm i have both kids asleep :dance:
Anyway thanks Alicia & Liz will have a squiz at the bumbo's.
Haroula - it does sound like a lot of food for this age but if you think she needs it and as long as she is still getting her milk quota.then trust yourself.
Nic - Sounds like Olivia's not too bothered, maybe try the finger food i think thats what im going to do with Vicky. Well done with the housework i've got 1 load of washing out & have washed the brekkie dishes and that'll do until DP gets home.
kts64s - good on you for giving your little girl at great start in life...having kids was the best thing we did for our own diets.;)
Trish - if Vicky's anything like her mum she'll talk under water , and im like you i think i need to start popping Vicky into her cot for sleeps instead of letting her sleep on me...i might even get stuff done
I was just reading up a bit more on the BLS and I think next week I will offer a stick of carrot.. cooked obviously ;) I won't put it in her mouth but on the high chair tray and let her play with it. Well either carrot or apple.. Avacado is a possibilty too.. My friends daughter ate avacado for her first food and made a lovely mess :) but really enjoyed it.. she just lay her on the floor with an ava in front of her and she just gummed it and licked it
hi ladies..
yep, she's fantastic... has 3 sleeps during the day and sleep from 8pm-6ish am! straight... the only time she gets upset is when i deny her food! haha... she just polished off for lunch about 120ml of vegies and about 50ml of fruit... mind you i had to stop.. and now sleeping like an angel!! when she wakes up she's have her milk..
I think that if i had to force her to eat or she was gagging i wouldn't have given her so much... i just go by her queues..! if she wants it, she eats.. if not she doesn't! finger food is a great idea too... she has some fruit like that.. loves it! and i put some things in the mess feeder, she loves that too and cracks it when i take it away to fill it up again! LOL hehehe funny girl!
Just a quicky, for those that missed Lauren's tv appearance. Here is a link to it :D
ACA
Hey Trish - I was just wrapping kayla for a sleep, and wondered if you wrap Abbey at all? Do you think she might be waking cold at night?
I wrapped Tallon until he was about 7 or 8 months, I'll probably wrap Kayla longer than that coz it's kind of a sleep queue for her, and I know that she's toasty warm during winter. I know she can go to sleep without being wrapped, coz I've put her down while I get dressed or something and she goes off to sleep LOL. but yeah, I keep wrapping her to keep her warm and stop her rolling through the night.
Just a thought :)
hey nic i thought carrot sticks are 'supposed' to be given at 1yrs old incase they bite a chunk off and choke?? or is that raw carrot?
Lauren, that'd be raw carrot. Softened (cooked) carrot would be fine :) But I reckon teething rusks are as bad as raw carrot.. DS used to bite off chunks from them.
Hi ladies,
Just a quick one I need to go and make dinner... just soup, and easy one tonight. Had a mole removed from under my arm, kinds on the side of my boob this arvo and my arm is starting to ache. Haven't fed Ty from that side yet and I'm scared it will hurt with the skin pulling. Wish me luck!!
Trish- You poor thing. Ty is the same an Nic's Olivia- some days all it takes is putting him in his cot and he's out for the count... most times i rock or pat him to sleep but some days he gets cranky with me even trying and just wants to be left alone!!
Haroula- I'm with Trish on this one hun- three meals a day seems a bit much.
Kts- Ty has one or teaspoons of food a night, pureed fruit and veg at the moment. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less, depending on his mood. It's just a play thing for him, to try different tastes and textures, not a 'food' thing. He has about 30-50 mls boiled water in a cup throughout the day.
Invested in a mesh feeder thing today and we're going to try some banana in it tomorrow.
Trish, you might be able to answer this for me- even with that little bit of food, we are still doing the bf poo thing- one a day at most, sometimes a few days between them. Should he be doing more, with the food and water? They're still regular looking poos, not formed or anything... what do you all reckon?
Alirght I'm outta here... night all
Bother, posted taht then realised there was a whole page I hadn't read!!! Sorry if I missed anything!
hi ladies,
well i am hanging out for Ethan to go to sleep! little bubba he has been awake all day and is now so cranky!! All mine have tried it lol i dont know why it isnt as though they really miss out on anything. Hopefully he will sleep for a nice long time 2nite. he is trying to crawl it looks so funny. he puts his belly on the floor and waves his arms and legs around or only pushes the front half up. doesnt like to roll but does donuts on the floor.
lorirae - hugs to you hope it doesnt pull. i do remember how much they hurt if they do.
liz - i wrap ethan up if he is really jumpy. it helps to make them more "secure".
haroula - sounds like your little girl is doing wonderfully. congradulations.
aussienic - i use a plain milk arrowroot biscuit. they go nice and soft. never thought of a cooked carrot - might have to give it ago :)
morgan - i wish my kids still napped threw the day. enjoy the rest, hope they are feeling better.
gotta run and feed ethie
Just wanted to say goodnight.. Had a decent day afternoon and night.. Olivia has laughed and laughed so much today.. Was so cute!
Dh back to work tomorrow :( He has only worked 2 days in 18 so we are going to feel it now he is back into 4 days on 4 off.. I love holidays...
Night All :)
Night Nic! I might head off to bed shortly too.. now that I've watched my crappy Tues night programs (Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares & Ladette to Lady) LOL.
How cute with the laughing.
Kayla has taken to sucking in her lips and chomping on them.. she looks like a toothless old woman LOL!
hehe on crappy tv.. I watch all Saints.. I hate it but need to watch the silly thing each week...
haha at Kayla sucking.. Olivia looked like that the other day and she was just staring at us.. was so funny..
Olivia slept through again :D 7:30 till 5.. She isn't feeding how I would like.. Just having a few little drinks.. She ios happy though. I just looked over at her and she did have her play gym over her properly but now it is sideways and she is under the side lifting it up and kicking it.
Liz - :D i was watching the same that ladette show is a crackup.
Nic - Great to hear Olivia is starting to give you some decent nights...with DH back at work that'll be a huge help.
Jas08 - Thanks for asking...we all appear to be just about over it all (touch wood *hand on my head*) How cute is Ethan!
LoriRae - hope it doesn't cause you too much bother.
Well Vicky is now making "mum" sounds  my little angel. She had started to wake around 10pm so silly me stayed up until 10.30 last night nope not a sound little ratbag slept until 1.30am. At least she then slept til 6.30.
morgan - yay to vicky making mum noises - best first word to say.
aussienic - good on olivia for having a big sleep. as for her not drinking how much you want - just keep an eye on her you will know if she isnt getting what she needs she would be a whole new baby.
liz - kayla might be getting teeth and helping them come threw.
well i am off to the hospital soon. yay i cant wait - not! i am tired of blood tests and the rest of it. Am due today to go in for my monthly check after my blood test to see how it is all going and it is suppose to be nearly clearing up. Only i get a phone call from my doctor saying that the results are abnormal - what does that mean? So i am not looking forward to my appointment at all. Wish me luck girls i dont like the tablets and was hoping to come off them soon. Gotta run and get ready
:crossfingers: Hope everything turns out to be ok for you will be on msg tonight so let me know
I know girls do most thing before boys, but i just realised its all the girls saying "MUM"
-Com'on Ashie..."mum mum mum"!!!!
good luck Jas hope everything goes well for u.
Ashs cold is so bad today poor little man....:( god bless nurofen, hes never been this upset before.
Anyone else got a walker yet..... Ash has started standing in his now.. i cant believe it.. he stands right up not leaning on anything just holding onto his toys!! hehe
And hes always up on his knees trying to crawl now yippie! he wants to go soo bad... not long to go i dont think!
Im considering telling my boss today i wont be coming back from maternity leave.. ahhh hes gonna go spaz!
Kayla has done mama sounds when she's in full whinge mode LOL... but I don't really count it :)
