Hi all,
Wish Ty was making mum sounds... his favorite at the moment ig 'g-wah'. I'm sure it means something to him but I have yet to figure out what...
Lauren- I'm working myself up to tell my boss i'm not coming back full time either.... he won't be happy. Crossing my fingers that he'll let me stay on one day a week. I honestly thought I'd go back but I couldn't stand the thought of putting Ty in daycare now I've got him. Especially not after that story on the news last night with the little girl who got locked in. Did anyone see that?? Scary.
Nic- Yay!! On the big sleeps... wish Ty would do that *sigh* Maye olivia just having a few easy eating days> Ty does that sometimes too.
Jas- Crossing fingers for you, hope it turns out ok.
I've got two stitches under my arm. Hurts a little but not too bad... bad enough to stop me from playing netball but the weather is so crap, it makes a good excuse. However Ty rolled over this morning to have a feed and grabbed my stitches in his hand... OUCH!!!!
Hmmm that's all to report here. Wish the rain would let up though... missing my walks around the block...

OMG lori i didnt hear about the child care.. the poor little thing! how scary. i dont trust child care either.. but i know its just unavoidable for some mums.

Yep was pretty bad.. dad went collect her and doors locked, lights out, place shut up. Called the cops and when they got in the little girl was asleep in a cot... they hadn't done a final check and had all just gone home for the night. Little one is fine but her mum is understanably totally traumatised *shudder* must have been so horrible for all of them.

is anyone using cloth nappies at night!
Im sooooooo over these leaky nappies.! i was told cloth are good for night.. anyone got opinons on that??
Ive even resulted to junior size nappies at night to hold it all in... this past week ive had 2 leaks every night!! which means 2 outfit changes and 2 bed sheet changes.....rrrrhhhhhhhhhhh frustrated as here!
i dont know what to do as junior nappies are the last size!!!!!!!!!!! and i definately dont want to wake him up to keep changing him... i guess thats one negative of sleeping through the night.. hey.. cant win them all ...

Not much to report for the day. Ethan did well at sports carnival.. only saw him briefly though as he has gone to footy now.. I am missing so much at the moment :( I had my friends daughter all day though so she was able to go to sports day and enjoy it. Our sons are in the same class.. anyways.. This girl has the highest pitched scream.. omg.. I had to pull her up and Say No more screaming.. Jacob was taking something off her but omg scream much :lol: Each time I pulled her up she would say ok and then scream again :lol: She is 4 months younger then Jacob..

I did achieve some stuff today though.. isaac and jacob now have a clean room.. *nic dances around the clean room without falling over toys;) *

Now I better go put my chicken in the oven..

We havent' been in cloth for a little while now. I just wasn't keeping up with the washing - they just don't dry in winter :( I absolutely HATE buying sposies tho :( Such a waste of money. I keep meaning to put Kayla in cloth again, but if there's sposies here, I use em! And we decided to have Tallon in sposies now until he's trained.. which is slowly happening. I'm not really consistent enough LOL. I spose if I stuck him in undies I'd HAVE to be consistent. Pullups cater to my laziness as much as his!

I did find that Bamboo Baby Beehinds were the only ones that would last all night. I had to boost them for Tallon, but not for Kayla.

morgan: Just plain old roast chicken tonight :) Was pretty delish actually.

Liz: Tallon will get it eventually :) He is only just over 2. My friends daughter who was here today was 2 in December and she isn't trained or anywhere near it.. Ick for the poo i got today though :lol: but hey they all get it eventually...

I'm tired! I haven't even bathed the kids yet *sigh* I thought I would wait till Simon got home from work.. but once he did he mucked about doing things and is only just in the shower now :rolleyes: agh.. I wanted the kids in bed by 7,, I think I can still do it lol.. Oh and Olivia went to bed WAY to early for my liking.. 6. I am so hoping she wakes up soon..

Feeling happy tonight. had a 1.5 hour nap with dd (when I thought she wasn't going to sleep at all) what a lovely surprise. Should really go to bed before this blissful feeling wears off.

hey, we like the tots bots fluffies for overnight (tho I must confess, Ella's been in sposies o/night mostly lately - long story). They soak up heaps & don't leak, and if I'm really keen she goes in wool soaker (MIL knitted) or fleece soaker or a bbh wool cover. I just don't get how they work, but they do :)

Knew I would regret staying up GRRR.. Olivia woke at 12:30 and was awake till 2:20. I am so unimpressed. I even told her off well how you tel a 6 month old off. i said thats enough go to sleep and she was so good she laughed at me and blew raspberries :rolleyes: She was SOOOO super happy..

ugh.. Was meant to go out for a coffee today but I don't think I can be bothered, Feeling disheartened.. All my work I did yesterday and nw my lounge and kitchen are a huge mess and I "have" to do it..

Buzzie - I saw you and Ash on TV too. You have a wonderful little boy there. I use MCN during the day and I am looking into night nappies because Loren is a heavy wetter overnight. My SIL swears by Krap Katchers for overnight.

Nic - I have been having some cr@p nights with Loren too. I was up 6 times last night, mind you she is teething and she does have coughing and a stuffed nose. It is doing my head in too.

Haroula - Way to go on Chrissie's eating. As long as she is still having 4 180ml bottles a day then that is ok. I wish Loren was interested in food, she just refuses!!!

Buzzie/LoriRae - Don't worry about your boys not saying ma ma, my DD1 did not say it until she was 7 months and she can talk under water now. Although Loren is saying ma ma..but only when she is frustrated

Did I mention I hate moving!!!!! Only 2 more sleeps in my first little home. It will be sad to go, because I got engaged, married and bought my babies home in this house.

I have read somewhere on here some of you giving your sick little bubbies Dimetapp? To help them clear up the congetstion to let them sleep.

Obvously we would all prefer if we didn't give them any sort of drugs as such buth my little girl is so blocked up it is proving very difficult for her to breath and sleep.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!! Hope everyone had a good night, not much sleep here due to bubies cold.

KTS: I personally wouldn't give dimetapp at this age. I don't even know what the age recommendation for it is. If her nose is blacked grab a Fess noses thing from the chemist and try and clear it that way.. Its orrible when they are so blocked up isn't it :hug:

Just googled and it can't be given under 2 except with medical advice.. Have you tried baby vicks or a humidifier?

Thanks nic. I would prefer not to either. I don't have a humidifier though any ideas where these are sold? Big W or only chemists. I have been buring eucalytus in my oil burner but that only last a little while and I can't have it on when she's aseel as I am frighten of the candle. I have been using baby vicks though, but it just seems to run out as such in the early hours of the morning. Thanks again.

When Ethan was little we put a old saucepan filled with very hot water under his cot with vicks in it.. We didn't own a humidifier then.. I think you can pick them up at any pharmacy. not sure about Big W ect..

I hope you can get her nose unblocked soon.. poor bubby..

That's a great idea. I was thinking about doing that but thought I would kick over the pot for sure and burn someone. Never thought of putting it under her cot.

kts64s - You could rub some Vicks Baby Balsam on her chest to help her stuffy nose. I'm not terribly impressed with its ingredients, but I feel it's a lesser of 2 evils compared to drugs. Altho there's always panadol if you feel she needs it :) Kayla hasn't been completely stuffed up yet, when she had a cold she managed to clear her nose with sneezing, so there was no congestion.

There's plugin thingos too that you could try instead of a vapouriser. But a friend of mine who works for the council was told by a firefighter that plugin scents and things are notorious for starting housefires!! Dunno if that's a 'rumour' or if it's fact. Haven't heard anything anywhere else about it.

She hasn't stayed awake for that long in ages. Usually its a half hour.. Feed nappy change and back to bed but last night GRR.. I am so grumpy today because of it as well. And she wasn't even that hungry last night just awake.. I had a feeling she was going to do something like that though cus she went to bed an hour and a half earlier then normal *sigh*

God I am so grumpy. I feel grumpy just sitting here.. stupid Af arried again 3 days ago less then 2 weeks after it was here before :( so sick of it.. When I was at the Drs the other day I mentioned it was coming every 21 days and she said that was fine then bam I hit a 14 day cycle.. Seriously WTF is up with that.... yup Im grumpy

Nic - Next week its repeats of House but thats probably cause State of Origin is on. Im not grumpy but have a killer headache above my eyes. :hug: horrid AF she's really not being nice to you at all hopefully it will settle back down for you soon

I'm just trawling thru what's been going on for everyone lately. Looks like Ella's got good company in only going to sleep if we cuddle & sing to her (hey, I'm thrilled because at least something works!!!), and also in not wanting to eat the solids (might try the bellamy's oat cereal instead).
Nic, I had carpal tunnel late in pg that got worse after birth, now it's tenosynovitis. My stupid gp didn't tell me what sort of options there were apart from steroid shots (not sure if that applies to carpal tunnel). Surgery should be last resort. I've just seen a good physio for the teno.. & a splint is helping. Not much more can be done (ice, raising it daily) but it should go away in Ella's first year. May be the same for carpal tunnel.
Have you considered physio, chiropractic or bowen therapy?
You poor thing. I know just how it feels. I had no feeling in my fingers til Ella was 3 months old & couldn't wear my rings. Plus she was in a pavlik harness so nappy change was extra fiddly. Now I'm ok with the splint on (you need to get from physio, not sold at chemist), but if she kicks me when I'm changing nappies it's agony!

And yes, she's been saying 'mummum' but mostly it's a particular unhappy cry. but today she was saying it for fun (it wasn't me), and then, she said it when she was looking at me. still don't think it was me, but I'll take anything I can get.:clap:

kts - Funny you asked about dimetapp/deminsine (sp?). I just got back from doc and she prescribed 1.2ml to 1.5ml once a day (at night) for Loren's nose. Personally I am not going to do it because in the past all other doctors told me not to use it for kids under 2. Our night time regime atm is vicks vapouriser on, vivcs or equeky bear on chest, fess up the nose and some times panadol. This seems to help for a few hours.

I am feeling less grumpy aafter doing some baking.. lol.. I made coconut macaroons and scones. We had baked beans for lunch..Well the boys did i had a vegemite sandwich.. love them lol :) and then we had a coconut Mac each and a piece of scone.

Olivia slept for over 2 hours and is now a grumpy miss. she is only happy if I am giving her 100% of my attention and she is standing on my lap.. got news for you sweety pie.. Mummy is tired today :p

oh she has rolled over now so is happy :)

oh and on the carpal I think it is more like the tendonitis I had when I had Jacob.. Only time will fix it. Once I am not picking her up as much I think it will ease. and the research I did on it said cortisone injections can help so why the Dr didn't suggest that I don't know..

Nic and Morgan- omg what happened on House? Is it over? Is he dead? Haven't watched it for a while, but it sounds very dramatic.
Jus- you poor darling :hug: never realised your wrist gave you so much trouble. Said it before and I'll say it again, you are such a trooper. Glad you got a big nap in- bet it made you feel like a million bucks!!
kts- I found baby vicks, fess (with the nose bulb thingy- hard to figure out but great once you get the hang of it) and a vaporiser worked wonders with Ty when he was sick. Vaporiser is about $50 from the chemist. try and get one with mild steam rather than hot steam to avoid burns, that way when bubs is older you can still use it.
Lauren- I'm a lazy sposie mum, sorry. Hats off to you all who use disposables, I don't know where you find the energy.
Morgan- Happy six months olivia!! We've got five days to go until we hit that.
Bekz- Moving is so emotional isn't it? Good luck hun.
My little man looks like he's getting sick again. Very cranky with a stuffy nose. he's asleep at the moment... I'm hoping his immune system can fight it off this time before it becomes croup. Missed mum's group today and we're stuck inside. But at least it's good weather for rugging up and staying in. And I'm in the middle of a very good book, so Ty wanting to sleep and cuddle is fine with me :)

ah Missy went to sleep.. boys quietened down.. found the yummiest recipe for dinner.. chicken in mango and tomato sauce.. Looks so good and easy :D

*deep breath* What an afternoon.. Olivia slept for 3 hours *yay* Dinner was delicious. I put Isaac and Jacob in the bath and got around to washing up ect. Ethan was still eating and Olivia was in the swing next to him.. hile i was wandering in and out I asked Ethan 3 times to stop swinging her. I don't like the kids swinging her and I also think if she is happy just let her be kwim? anyways I start washing up and next minute I hear BANG.... SCREAM.. Olivia was on her back on the floor after the swing had been tipped. After a quick cuddle and check she was fine.. I am so mad at Ethan.. He finally admitted what he did and that was to swing her to high.. oh she was crying he said.. Well i can tell you know I wasn't quiet. I was infact the angriest I have ever been,, Olivia wasn't crying as I certainly couldn't hear her. and for him to have knocked the swing as far as he did he must have been swinging her extremely fast and hard.. even know just typing it I feel so damn angry.. He is just damn lucky she only got the tiniest mark on her head. I think the swing took the brunt of it and her head must have still been in the seat when she hit the ground.. now I feel like crying typing that thinking how much that must have hurt her :( agh.. Anyways the important thing is she is fine.. was happy and smiling at me within 5 minutes.. and not long went to bed . i kept her up for a while and she was fine..

Pretty good arvo here. Ty slept half the day away. I finished my book. Dh is doing his absolute best to make me cranky and mess up the house *thinking zen thoughts and taking deep breaths* I'm gearing up for a bad night but... Ty has a tendency to wake every hour for boob comfort if he's not feeling well... wish me luck!!
We also had a super poo tonight... all over the towel and change mat while I was getting ready to bath him... one of those three day bf poos.. and dh gagging and trying not to vomit. And i was the one cleaning it up!!!

Nic- You think that's funny, I have a massive stain on my carpet where dh was changing a stinky nappy and actually did vomit. Everywhere. And Ty lay there laughing at him. And you should have seen him chuck in the labour room when the midwife pulled the placenta out...
I know Ethan wouldn't mean to hurt his little sis. He probably feels terrible about it!! Glad Olivia is ok but.

ps Ethan doesn't even care he just kept going on and on about how bad his day was bla bla bla and we should apoligis to him for being mean and yelling at him and sending him to bed.. i should add I didn't get mad at him for what he did..Well I did at first but then his attitude totally got to me.. so he got sent to bed for that not for what he did cus he would never intentionally hurt olivia

Ahhh attitude- all this I have to look forward to!! Rephrase- he probably will feel terrible. Eventually. Maybe in about ten years ;) Or twelve- when you bring it up at his 21st!!

Arrrrrggggggghhhhhh bad night here, I am feeling absolutely exhausted! Of course now that the tiling guy is here banging and drilling in the kitchen the Little Miss is sleeping soundly - so not fair!
