Well, we have forward movement! Last night she was humping along like a little caterpillar. So not really crawling, but has finally twigged that she can go forwards! Now I've got to be more vigilant with what toys and things are lying around the floor.
We had a bit of an unsettled night last night.. very windy - probaby coz I finally got a decent amount of solids into her yesterday morning. argh. I might pop in to the nurse at the chemist this morning and see what she says. I'm curious to know how much she weighs now, that's the main reason I'm really going heh.. I'm not too good on advice from nurses! ;)
-
OK - stats today are: Weight 7.85kg (clothed), HC 43.5cm and Length 67.5cm.
The nurse said to give her pear instead of apple, apparently it's easier on the tum, and she suggested drinking around 3 cups of chamomile tea a day, coz that can go thru the milk and help calm her tummy. She said I could give her a bit of the tea direct, but suggested drinking it myself.
She also said some babies don't like Heinz, and some babies don't like Farex.. so perhaps a different cereal could help.

maybe i should try the tea, mind u i really struggle with that one. Ash has the most terrible tummy, im so uneasy about this solids thing. I gave him 3 baby spoons of oats, fig and sultanas in a jar for breakfast and he hasnt poo'ed since :( - if he doesnt get something out soon, im up for a rough night. - i dont care about me but poor little man. I think im gonna talk to my GP about it, the nurse was really unsure about him STILL having wind issues. I know these bubs are having poo issues but is anyones bubs still struggling to past wind????? she suggested colic relief and maybe baby chiro - but thats more for constipated babies, but if hes breast fed he shouldnt be constipated :wall:
I cant believe how much taller ash is to everyones bub. i thought he was big but short.. that good hes really big all over then
Have a good night everyone

Yeah, Kayla struggles with wind at night. Hopefully pear or something will make a difference. Might not ferment so much in the tummy. Kayla was a windy bub, so the nurse wasn't surprised that she's windy starting solids too. I had none of these problems with Tallon.
I gave Kayla a chunk of pear to chew on while I chopped up the other pears to cook.. she absolutely loved it! Cried whenever it slipped out of her hands. It's a bit nerve wracking watching her bite bits off.. but she cleverly moved it around her mouth, chomped on it, and spat it out if it was too big. Finger foods might be the go after all. LOL. Guess we'll just go with what we have at the time. I've now got a gazillion pumpkin icecubes in the freezer, and I've just cooked up the pear. But I'll have to remember to cook up bigger pieces of veges for her to munch on while we eat too.
I struggle drinking chamomile too.. never been good with herbal teas.. Tallon drinks it at night, he loves it LOL. But he's a bit of a strange one. I had a giggle to myself today out shopping when we went down one aisle. There was confectionary on one side, and savoury stuff on the other.. and what did my son ask for? Stuffed olives LMAO. What 2 year old doesn't see all the lollies and chocolates and goes for olives and gherkins instead??

Oh Nic, what a great sleep Olivia had. Blooming husbands hey
Jus how awful with the bleeding finger. I accidentally squished Monique's fingers in the door while I was closing it behind me as she loves to have her arms sticking straight out to the sides and didn't know until she screamed. I felt sooooo bad.
We get Monique weighed and measured next week so I am curious to see how she compares to you guys. She is so windy since she started solids and am glad to hear pears are easier on the tum. She loves pears.
AF arrived today :(

Tinsel: Stinking Af.
Liz: Kayla is getting big. She is almost the same as Olivia except my miss weighed 8kg..
I cannot tell you how much happier Olivia has been since we stopped solids. 3 days in and we have a much happier little girl.. She is pooping fine although its very icky sticky looking and green (nice topic) but I think we are just going to let things slide and if Olivia is particularly hungry I will either offer more BM or see if she wants food..
Hey for those with formula how much is a tin of say S26 these days?? I found a website online that offers 6 tins for around the 100 mark depending on which formula you use..
I didn't find the nappies were cheap.. but they had lots of things for decent prices.. I am going to have a better look at it tonight once the kids are in bed

Well, Kayla scoffed down pear and cereal for breakfast this morning, so we'll see how we go. I haven't drunk any chamomile tea yet.. not that fond of it really LOL. We'll jsut see how we go i think. She woke every couple of hours last night for some BIG drinks of milk.. perhaps it's a growth spurt. Who knows. She is usually too distracted to have good feeds through the day, so perhaps she's just making up for it at night. Maybe I need to hide away to feed her so she drinks better through the day.

ugh Liz. I hate broken sleep...
We had anther good night though.. nine and a half hours again :) I am never feeding her food again

Hi all,
Well we have some very bad news.. Ty has German measles. The spots came up last night after a bath and were all over him this morning and getting worse by the minute. Took him to the GP and rubella it is. Probably picked up from me from working at the hospital. And I'm so careful with my infection control too. He's still pretty chipper, it doesn't seem to be bothering him too much but they said it may get worse over the next 24 hours. Thank God I'm bfing- GP said that my immunity to it, plus the normal good stuff in bm, is what has stopped it from being too severe. All that hard work has definately paid off!! At least now I know what all the screaming and sleeping and settling problems were about. I feel terrible cause, in hindsight, I should have known he was sick, but I took him to the GP and they didn't pick anything up. Hasn't spiked a temp the whole time either, but he didn't really get one when he had broncilitis either, so I guess that means he is pretty healthy in general.
Nic- Ahh what good sleep, you lucky devil. I am still so jealous!!
Lauren- We still get windy belly aches too. Ty rolls up on his side and bring up head and feet- looks like a banana when he's curved like that in his sleeping suit :) - and passes it that way.
Liz- We have hopeless feeds during the day if something is going on that Ty wants to look at. Pulls off and leaves me a bit exposed to crane his neck around and check it out :)
Hmmm... had a very busy weekend planned but now we a re definately stuck at home. Feels very peaceful, all this unexpected downtime.
-
Oh poor little Ty. Hope he feels better soon. You should go and tell that nurse exactly why Ty was unsettled and that she should investigate unsettledness more before she distresses both mum & bub by letting bub scream!
-
oh Lori!! hope everything is ok! poor little man!
went to see our new house today, it was really nice, not even 5 mins from the beach so thatll be great. Plus Ash will have a massive playroom! i was so excited about that part.
well back to packing :( mover truck coming on monday and nothings done..:wall:

Hi Ladies, have any of you got little ones that love to eat pureed fruits eg , apple, pear mashed banana, but doesn`t like the taste of home cooked fresh pureed vegies. My 6 month old also likes his rice cereal, but just can`t get the vegies into him,any suggestions, please?.
-
are any of the melb girls coming down to see trish next weekend? i need to know if we're organising something so i can get the second baby seat put in my car or is everyone going to the lunch on sunday?
-
Hi Mum of Many, so far the vegies DD has tried are potato, pumpkin and carrot. She doesn't really like carrot so I mix this with apple and she still makes a face but will eat it. She loves potato so I sneak a cube of carrot in there too. Hmmm, not sure what else you can do.
LoriRae - poor little Ty. Hope he gets better soon.
Buzzie that is exciting about your new house and move.
Nic - what a lovely sleep you are having these days. Monique has been sleeping much better and we only get up once for a feed or nappy change during the wee hours now (although I think I get up through the night to stick the dummy in but it is all a blur).
Talking about sleep, I think I need some. Bed for me soon.
-
Hi to all :)
lori:  to you and Ty!! Hope the poor little man clears up soon
Had a nice day. dinner at inlaws.. whole big vent wanting to come out about my MIL ...
Olivia has been good.. She wouldn't sleep at inlaws place tonight so she has been awake for hours so I am hoping she will sleep well tonight for me...
Well I have soap in my eye from my shower just now and feel grumpy lol.. It is stingy..
-
vent away Nic
my Vent - who taught my nearly 3 year old the "w" word - I am getting why this why that all day. Can anybody tell my why onions are called onions?
-
 Louise!! Can't help ya.. I am still trying to work out who taught it to Jacob as well.. and when I get my hands on them......
-
Lauren, I'm going :D Can't wait to see you and Ashie.MOM, we have the same issue with Abbey, she will rarely touch her vegies but will eat any fruit or cereal I give her.
Lori, sorry to hear little Ty has the GM. I had Joel down with it when he was a bub too, was a little grumpy but not too bad. Hope he gets better soon.
Sorry I haven't been around much girls. Still having issues with my puter. I am betting as soon as I post this it all goes into one big story. For some reason I can't make paragraphs.Abbey is going well, walking everywhere in her walker and babbling away. Trying to sit up, we are nearly there. Nowhere near crawling, but that could be because she is rarely on her tummy on the floor. Really should have her down there more often.
Oh wow, I managed to edit it and change it. Was getting hard to read.
