Babies Born December 2007 #26

Lauren - we have started (well I have started, DH is too much of a softie) being tougher at bedtime now. I put her into bed, read one story and then sit just outside her bedroom door until she is asleep. I don't want to jinx it, but the last 2 nights she has gone to sleep much quicker. And it is a huge improvement from the hour of me sitting holding her hand that we were at last week :rolleyes:

Rory - Who??? :p Good to hear everything is going well. I would love to see Ollie again at some stage.

Well I was very naughty yesterday and bought a stroller on the spur of the moment. Baby Bunting had a Maclaren Ryder marked down as it was the last one (someone had put it on layby and then cancelled it). So now Olivia has a fancy black suede stroller :rolleyes: I am such a sucker but at least it should last forever and it really is lovely to push :redface:

I am having one of those weeks where everything seems to be taking ages iykwim. Today folding the washing and doing some cooking seem to have filled the whole day..... I think I need a holiday, roll on June!

Alicia - thats fantasic about her sleep. i dont know how ill go as ash will stil be in my room (2 bed house) till he gets his own room, but at least its a start. She said it ok to let him cry a little, at least its getting him slowly realising i wont just the second he cries i guess ??

omg its 5pm and i pick ash up in 30 mins and havent even had my shower yet.. something i die for to have in peace... lol i see what u mean Alicia on taking forever to get things done!! hehe

Hi Everyone,
I have been having so much trouble getting onto BB lately, maybe that's why noone else has posted......

We have a busy week here. I was out last night and will be again Wed, while DH is out tonight and Thurs night. Today I am catching up with a friend I used to work with for lunch. She has a 5 month old that I am sure will keep Olivia busy, she is fascintated by babies at the moment.

Sooooo cute, we are watching the Night Garden and every day when it starts Olivia drops whatever she is doing so that she can run one of her fingers around on her palm just like they do at the beginning :)

OK gotta go and get dressed (while Olivia is distracted by Upsey Daisy), just wanted to say I am still around :D

We are now into thomas here.. so cute how exited he gets when it comes on.
Its incredible wat ash is saying now, he picks up things soooo quick. this morning he was saying "cuddles! cuddles!" and giving me the best hugs!!! awwww

I went and had a family lunch at robs parents house with everyone on sunday and Zac (ashs cousin) is 5months old too and i have been soooo maternal since having cuddles with him because it gave me a really good view of what it would be like with ash and a tiny one.. and it was really good fun cuddling both of them!!

Well the cot is up at last after a disaster of having it being returned and put back up again... but its ready to go for tonight and so ash will have to be put in it and left to cry a little.....
Does anyone know how long im supposed to let him cry for???
The last couple nights he has been in my bed and i have been on the floor lol just to give him so warm up to sleeping alone and he has been really good, i have been giving him the medicine before bedtime too which i think has helped, he slepted for 2 1/2 hours when i put him down which felt like forever to me!! that was great. then every hour or just a tad over he was up after that, so much better than wat im used to tho! i had a great night sleep would u believe it or not!!
Robs SIL gave me the book Save our sleep by Tizzle Hall, not that i get much time to read at all but she said it worked for zac who sleeps through, mind u he is only 5months old!!

BUzzie - I have read it and found it worked for me, but I know alot of people don't like it. I didnt' follow the strict shcedule to a T but adapted it to us and our situation. If you are going to give it a go give it at least three days to see if it works. It may or it may not. No two bubs are the same and what works for one doesn't work for the other.

Thanks kts, i havent read any of it yet, and will get onto it tomorrow.. im so dreading tonight but i know i have to start somewhere... i just hope he isnt crying cos hes in pain and it is just habbit. i will feel so bad leaving him not knowing!

Buzzie: with Livi.. i just let her cry.. Its hard some days. (she doesn't do it often anymore though) You can tell if she is just protesting or if she is really upset.. Some kids will work themselves up..

Its hard to say how long you should let him cry for without hearing him, I would go for 5-10 minutes and if he stops and starts in that time then let him go for a bit longer .. they do get it eventually..

Anyways Im still around.. As lauren said BB was having an upgrade done so I haven't been in for a few days either.. plus I have my mum here :D We were out all day today and boy was I tired.. 4 hours sleep and a day shopping make me very tired.. I am still up now and its nearly 1am.. gawd im gunna be tired tomorrow..

Off to bed now.. Catch ya all soon..

well night one and i can say OMG!!!! can i quit now?>?

Ash went to bed at 6.30, that was great, straight down in his cot, he woke an hour later and i admit i did feed him but he went straight back to sleep and stayed down in his cot, but not for long..... he woke a total of 15 TIMES throughout the night!!! omg i was a massive zombie this morning. it got to 530 am and i had to bring him in my bed, i couldnt stand up any longer...he woke about 2-3times after that for a quick feed and woke at 730am wide awake and ready to play as if he had slept a 12hour night!! mummy wasnt at all!!
I tried to let him cry several times and he cried to the point of dry reaching - it didnt take long for him to do that (i wouldnt of left him that long).
But i was lucky to go to work late this morning or i would of died!!

well night 2 is about to begin... ho hum....

Lauren, I feel for you and hope the sleep training works soon. I have to do the same for Monique when I set up her toddler bed to get her out of mine before the baby arrives. There's going to be tears!

:hug: I would be ready to quit to.. Do you have anyone there who can support you? I know I wasn't able to do it alone.. I am way to soft.. I usually have Simon telling me she is ok.. and reminding me that her cries aren't that bad..

Maybe Asher needs you to go super slow.. slowly leave his room or put a matress on the floor and pretend to go to sleep to.. Lay right next to his cot and hold his hands through the gaps..

Well I feel like I am getting the flu Simon is just getting over.. I have popped panadol and am all vicksed up.. I don't feel unwell (yet) just a bit blergh.. Lucky I knew what the first symtoms were so have got on top it right away.. these late nights I have been having and super early mornings are really not helping either lol...

i am so excited.. Last Day of school tomorrow yayayaya. I have all my boys home with me.. I love not having to do the whole school routine..

OK girls i am sorry i haven't been around *hangs head in shame* I have been so busy and am really struggling with finding any kind of balance since starting work. Although i am only working PT it more full on than i anticipated. I am doing 4 days until i start tafe and i leave home at 7.30am and don't return til after 6pm so i am exhausted all the time. This week i have taken a bit of a step back as i think i am burning myself out. Molly has been really unwell for the last 2 wks and so has DD1. TBH we all have had this cold/flu thing. I don't remember the last time i had a full nights sleep :( Both girls have had croup and have had a trip to hosy over the weekend.

On a good note Molly is toddling everywhere and her foot seems to be improving each day although she still has a slight limp. I am starting to believe the specialists that by the time she is 2 it shouldn't be noticeable. So proud of my lil munchkin.

Her first week of DC went really well but the last 2 have been horrendous. I just don't know what to do anymore. I am really enjoying work and think i am a better mummy for it. (meaning the time i spend at home is more enjoyable and i am nicer to be around-more patient etc) Today has thrown me and i am ready to pull my girls out of their centre to look for somewhere else but don't know if i am over reacting. What do you think? Molly has been very hard work as of late not just at DC at home too. She is super clingy and very unsettled in general. Well today when i went to pick her up she had a fat lip that was cut. I was given an incident report to sign that made my blood boil. It said

"As Molly cries consistently all day every day it is unknown how the incident occurred. We do not know if she was hurt by another child or had a fall as we did not know she had been hurt until we noticed the abrasion and blood"

Now as i said i may be over reacting but to me this says "Molly always cries so, we don't know what happened and we don't care" I am going to go and see the coordinator tomorrow but don't really know what to say. I know she is unsettled i know she cries ALOT but still surely they can tell the difference between a whinge cry and a I'm hurt cry. And if she was unsettled and was crying why didn't someone see to her or why wasn't she been watched maybe then they would have known how it happened. Her shirt was COVERED in blood.

Ok enough ranting from me. Sorry for lack of personals i havent even read the last few pages girls but will try and catch up tomo and come back to posting. :hug: everyone

omg Hoddy that awful!! i would definatly say something. that is just unacceptable! I had to sign an incident report ash as fell over pushing a chair, but they also called me the second he did it and said he was fine but it was just protocol especially when its an accident around the head. And he was perfectly fine.
Im sorry she cries alot, that must be so hard!
Im sure she will settle at some stage... can take a while for some munchkins! hang in there. i have considered other places, but there are the staff that are just awesome then the couple i really dont like that make it hard for me!

Im going to have a word today to the boss at ABC, i dont think there changing ashs nappy often enough, i have never seen him with such bad nappy rash and NO nappies were taken out of his bag that i paked him yesterday. I know they keep a stash of spair, but surely not enough to last a whole day considering i usually only pack 5-6. twice this last week i have picked him up with a pooy nappy! wasnt happy!

As for the wanting to packup and not work.. i have days i do the exact thing so many times but it is on days i am feeling s****y and then i will have a great day and go, what the hell was i thinking, i love my job! lol so i think its normal to have those thoughts.

Nic - i dont really have anyone to help me as mum is in her room and i dont want to wake her anyway. but im so used to doing everything on my own, it doesnt seem natural for me to ask for help iykwim.

Well last night was soooooo much better...
Ash went down at 8.30 and didnt wake till 10.25 and only woke a total of 5 times!!
Not including twice and started to winge and wiggle but then went quiet and i was like wat the.... he had gone back to sleep!! woooot! he was up at 7.15 and ready to run a marathon, but i admit, wen he woke up i did pick him up and give him booby, but he went straight back to sleep and straight back down in the cot - which is such a blessing for me as since the day he was born never stayed in a cot!
So maybe at this stage just getting used to a cot and sleeping alone im happy to breastfeed him (5 times compared to 15 aint bad!)
and then the next step is no boobies just cuddles. - Like u said nic, just taking it slowly for him.

Well got another unit inspection today.. across the road from here LOL

oh and just another quick update... spoke to rob yesterday and said ok wats going on, are we in a relationship or wat.. and he said (cut short as it was about 20 sms - i know i hate talking on the phone) says we are together persay.. we arent 'seeing' any one else and he wants to take it slow because yes fair enough we have known each other for 10years, technically we only have ever been a real couple in high school for 2 months before i cheated on him and we broke up.. (again i know.. :( ) but he said we had been all over the place and things have been messy between us for a while now, so he wants to just settle down and take things slow and yes he has lots of feelings for me - TBH - im reading it going 'commitment issues' all over it... anyways then he goes, but when we get back together i want to get married first before having more kids.. LOL ok i think that sealed the deal for me... so u saying yes we are together but i dont want a boyfriend girlfriend title... ritey o then! i know it sounds like hes a waste of time and an idiot. but i just love being with him so much it seriously makes me think if im the idiot... oh well.. i still want more babies from him cos he makes damn cute ones!! PML
