Haroula - Olivia is yet to have a major spew that comes out her nose but she has vomited at times ALOT of milk up, I put it down to having to much or a fast let down where it has flooded her....At times she will also have really chunky spews sorta like the milk went off in her tummy this are majorly gross :(
Aussienic - The bleeding a for a few hours has happened twice now and neither time has my full period come back..so I wonder why... Re : The mould smell I would mabye approch your neigh and ask if they can smell it and if they have any idea what is causing it..That is if your on good terms with them...
Well Olivia is happily in her swing I am having a cuppa and nutri-grain for breaky:D
-
Haroula - Loren does a lot of pulling on and off the breast. She is actually quite aggressive when breastfeeding. Her arms go every where, and she bobs on and off. Some times she screams mid way through a feed. I usually take her off and wind her. Loren does spew up but not a lot. I have read that around the 8week mark some babies reflux gets worse.
-
i thought maybe it was reflux or something.. but on monday when i saw the GP, she just put it down to the fact that she wriggles around A LOT!! and that she probably just squishes her tummy in the wrong way and up it comes... she said i shouldn't worry about it as her weight gain is awesome, but i worry cause it seems to be getting for frequent! Twice yesterday and once this morning at 4am... yesterday was at 4am too.. am thinking maybe she doesn't want a huge feed at that time and maybe just a top up... but she can't help herself and she has too much?! She only drank half a bottle of EBM both those times...
-
Haroula. Olivia moves ALL the time while she is eating and she is not a vomiter so I am not sure how that works if you are listening to your doc. Sorry not much help. In fact Livi is such a loud and wriggly eater that at mothers group yesterday, when she was eating, everyone was laughing at her! She is cute but so loud :-)
Nic what is making the mouldy smell? I hate that kind of smell so I am feeling for you .
Well Miss Livi has been very grouchy today. We had to go into the city to do a few jobs and she was ok then but after that we headed to Highpoint to pick up the last Bounty bag (I am late I know) and boy did she crack it. She started screaming just after we got in the doors and didn't stop til after we had been to Target then driven all the way back home. She has had 2 more screaming sessions since then, one major one when I dared to take her out of the bath. She is not usually so grumpy, I am really hoping she is not getting sick or something.
Where is everyone today???
-
alicia: I don't know whats making the smell.. the council rang me back this afternoon.. how useless! Just go over and tell them thier yard has a smell.. yeh right ya D!C@ If I was able to do that i wouldn't have contacted you... Like I am going to walk over and say Oh your yard stinks.. to someone I haven't spoken to in over 3 years  No idea what to do now.. The smell was even worse tonight because it was bucketing rain
Olivia settled for daddy  and fell asleep on him,, Simon is so happy tonight
-
Nic - they haven't got a big pool of rainwater that's gone stagnent or something? Maybe you could approach it that there's a smell in the 'area' and do they know what it is. Make it sound as if you can't pinpoint it iykwim.
-
nope no pool of water.. their yard is littered with furniture, piles of wood, toys, plants,
I asked the council guy today what laws are there if a yard is an eyesore. They are covered apparently as their yard is shielded from the main road by lots of tree's.. pooey!
About 3-4 years ago when we were talking to them simon (dh) dropped off a bag of groceries he picked up for them and he said as he walked to the front door it smelt like a dump.. And when it rained it was horrendous but that all went away till now..
I asked the guy about health risks as I wondered if we could smell it were we breating it in.. his response.. If you can't see it you should be fine
-
Oh yuck Nic, sorry to hear that the council aren't being very helpful. What about contacting your local MP ?? It sure is worth a try. Rather than living next door to a garbage dump. Are they still alive in their ?? Maybe that's the smell ;)
Alicia, sorry to hear that Olivia was a grumpy bum, hoping that you had a good night and she is beetre today for you.
Haroula, perhaps Chrissie is just going through a fussy stage. Abbey does this when she is tired, she just pulls off and on the boob and wriggles like nothing else. She has a chuck too if she's drank too much, or say if I feed her right before leaving the house, as you do with babies, and when I put her into the carseat she spews. Think I just move her too much doing that. I know, not much help to you. I really wouldn't stress too much over it. Chrissie is growing nicely and is happy enough right ??
Teena, i haven't had AF do that, it did come back for a few days there, but only very lightly, but thankfully not at all since then.
Liz, great news on the test results. And yay for good growing with Kayla, go the booby juice :D Gorgeous photo too hun.
Suse, sorry about you being jinxed. Babies like to do that to you. The minute you think your onto something good they up and change themselves on you.
Bek, how's Loren doing now ? I hope she is settling better for you.
Hi to all those I have missed. I have read back but this is far as I can remember (with the help of the review) Hope all babies are going well.
Abbey is going good, was a little fussy to get her to go to sleep last night but she did so around 9ish I guess. She woke at 6 am and had a feed and is back asleep now. Great sleep hey. Yeah I wish I got it too. I got to bed at midnight !! Brandon has disappeared again on me. Went straight from school into town, came home very briefly around 8pm and when was asked to come for a shower around 8.30 he was still in his room, but come 9.30 the little ***** was gone. He is still gone and I again have no idea where to look for him. Seriously I have no idea what to do with him. How do I keep him here. The kid is like Houdini.
-
Oh no they are alive!! We always joke the smell is her.. he is ok and kids are alright ugly but alright :P but her.. icky..
Now here's my funny for the day. Ethan just asked what I am doing for DH for valentines day. I said nothing cus I don't celebrate it. Wel I think you should have sexual maturity!!! He then said did you hear what I said. I said Yes Ethan but I chose not to answer you. Well are ya going to?
**sigh** Hes 8 for goodness sakes.... (ps he thinks sexual maturity is sex, he is starting to realise how things work but not quite there yet)
Trish: Thats an awesome sleep.. My Miss O slept 9 till 4:20 and we both fell asleep out here till just a little while ago. I put her on the couch cus I desperatly needed a coffee..
Better go al kids awake now
-
Well are ya hun, ha ha ha ?? HEHE too funny.
Hmmm ugly and smelly neighbours hey, think I'd be moving. Smelly is one thing but UGLY.... No sir ree. :P
Good girl Olivia for such a good sleep too.
-
GRRR is all I have to say GRRRRRR Boys!! Who would have them hey? This little Miss of mine better not be like this
-
Hello,
Liz - I forgot to congratulate Kayla on her great test results.
Alicia - I am happy that you had a better health nurse visit the other day. Seriously some of the nurses go by the book to the letter and they don't consider what is normal for you bub.
Nic - My parents in law have neighbours like yours and they really can't do too much about it.Hugs it is bloody awful to live next to pigs. LOL at your DS. My friends boy came home one day and told his mum that he had been "sexing" with the girl next door. My friend got a lump in her throat at the thought of her 8yo son doing "that"...When she asked him what "sexing" was he said kissing in the air!!!
Trish - You are having such a rough time with your DS!!!! I think you should call Sunrise and talk to that doctor who gives advise re teenagers. I wish teenagers could see that their behaviour now could shape their future. Has he got a best mate? Maybe you could consult his mates parents and see if you could talk to the boys together. Love Abbey's new ticker btw.
I have had a couple of hard days with miss Loren. Some times she just will not take the boob, so I have been trying to express so that I can give her a bottle. Monday and Tuesday she slept a total of 1 hour through the day and she had little half feeds all over the place. Yesterday I went out to have a facial (give voucher expired) and left her with DH. She screamed almost the whole time and he ran out of ebm so he gave her formula...wow she drank 180mls and then slept for 4 hours. Actually she really kept sleeping right through til 6am this morning. So now I don't know what to do re breast feed or formula feed. hmmm
-
Bek - ask Barb for some advice. She always seems to have the answer! Especially if you'd rather keep breastfeeding. Or perhaps she can at least give you some advice how to prevent the odd bottle affecting the breastfeeding.
Trish - Grr at that boy of yours. Do Noah & Tehya notice him missing? Get them to lay the guilt trip on him ;) EIther that or give him a big scare - take everything out of his room so it's bare and tell him you thought he didn't want to live here anymore so you figured you'd use his room for something else.
Nic - Is it feasible to report your neighbours because you're afraid of rats & snakes coming into your garden with your kids? Maybe you could plant a snake and report it LOL.
Well, Kayla slept from 10pm til 4.30.. then I had to wake her again at 7.30 to drive DH to the station (I can't tell you how tempting it is to leave her here sleeping while I pop out!!) and then she fed and went back to sleep and is still sleeping! yay! I wish she would do this regularly tho. I'm expecting a bad night shortly coz she hasn't poo'd for a few days now, she tends to be really unsettled leading up to the explosion.
-
BTW - Loren has started to dribble quite a bit and she loves sucking her fingers? Anyones else's bub dribbling? I forgot what age this starts.
-
Yes dribbling everywhere! I keep checking to see if she's teething!
-
Trish: sorry i missed your post on brandon.. I was just thinking bout you guys this morning too and was wondering how things were going. I hope he smartens up soon. And that nothing happens while he is off proving something..
Bek: I don't want to even think of my kids doing anything like that.. Sorry to hear Loren isn't settling for you.. I have one suggestion.. Express some milk and add a thickener to it. It is karicare. If she has reflux that will help.. thats what we did for Isaac and he slept well too
Liz: Great idea for Trish.. I will keep that in mind if any of my boys ever pull a stunt like that..
We have had rats our cats have caught and I am sure it is from there.. I should try and take a pic like my sister suggested.. and i hear ya on wanting to leave bub while you duck out. Would never do it but sometimes it sucks to have to get them up isn't it...
Olivia is the same when she hasn't pooped for a few days too. Thankfully she did 2 two days in a row..
As for the dribbling and hand chewing. Its happening here too.. It is a developmental thing if I remember correctly.. 3 months is the age they start doing it..
Olivia is still down having her morning nap..today and yesterday she has gone down for a big morning nap.. She woke briefy before but her crib light thingy came on and she went back to sleep :D ( PS Trish: How is your light thing working out for Abbey? )
-
morning ladies
YUP Chrissie is sucking fingers and dribbling and making bubbles...LOL
Thanks, Chrissie had a good night..no spews! i gave her boobie both night feeds and bottle again in the morning... so far so good! Although she has now decided to cat nap her way through the day! AGAIN!! she did this yesterday too!!
alicia/Bek - yeah chrissie is SO LOUD too! you can hear her anywhere in the house! and waves her arms and legs like she's possessed!
Bek - re formula/breast do whatever works for you and creates a happy mummy and baby!
nic - i would so report the smell too! use the rats, snakes angel and children don't mix... works a treat!
Trish - DH uses..."it's a phase" line.... arg! wanna kill him sometimes... i know it's probably a phase..hehe but gee at 4am with a spew and clothes to change i really don't want to hear it! hehe
She is putting on heaps of weight and is generall a happy baby! she doesn't even cry that much really..just when she's over tired or hungry! Doesn't even care if her nappy is wet either! i have to check all the time! :( good luck with your son...that's a toughy!
Liz - wow what a sleep!!! Chrissie has been doing that most nights.. about 9:30-4am it's awesome ex cept my boobs feel like they are going to explode afterwards!! hehe
Hey, for those who give EBM.. how much are you giving in the bottle now?... Chrissie still struggles to eat 150ml..
ALSO, how much should she be sleeping... should she still be sleeping the 3-4 hrs during the day after a feed, or should she be awake for some of it and sleeping 2-3hrs in a stint... i'm so confused about all this business!
-
Sounds normal to me Haroula :) I still get confused even though I am on my 4th LOL
-
Good morning all
Well what a amazing sleep Olivia had last night. Gave her 100ml of expressed breast milk after her bath and she went to sleep at 8.30 and slept until 4.10am  The best she has ever done I was impressed... I think I will express her night feed from now on if that is how she is going to settle....
Bekz - Olivia is dribbling so much too and trying to shove her fists into her mouth, firstthing I thought of was teething as well ( hoping not) maybe its jus ta stage like Aussienic suggested.
Trish - Your son is being so inconsiderate with behaving that way...One day he will realise the pain and worry he has caused you by behaving this way... :rolleyes:One can only hope:lol:
Liz - They always sleep soundly when you need to go out at a certain time and you always have to wake them to go and feel like a meany for doing so..Sometimes I wish as you do that I could leave Olivia asleep and get MIL around but I can almost guarentee that as soon as I ring her and she is on her way Olivia will wake up making me look like a idiot
Haroula - Hows is the gunky eye going any improvement.. Olivia's is still gunky but has day where it looks better just hoping it will clear up soon.
Aussienic - Man that smell must be gross as its a pity they arn't made to clean it up it is a health hazard to the nieghbours go see your local MP as suggested... Somehting has to be done about it... Glad your little pixie as you call her slept well for you its a pity you woke up a tad grumpy may you had to much sleep which shocked your system
Oh Trish in regarsds to AF mine is coming and going ever so lightly I just hope it dont fully return dreading my monthlies again.
Any way written enough must go get ready my daughters pony is going to my friend for the long term as she has lost interest and my friend wants him so saves me some money on feed and he gets loves and ridden
Have a great day all
-
yeah.. i kinda get the feeling she is transitioning... trying to work out when she should sleep and when she should play.... but sometimes i tell you it does my head in!
Teena - yeah it looks better most days now.. and it seems to be back to just the one eye again! fingers crossed it goes away!!
-
Haroula - Re sleep - One of those sleep whisper ladies suggest if a bub needs say 18 hours of sleep per 24 hours, then you count up how many hours bub sleeps for overnight then the rest should be made up over the day time. Now I just have to find out how much sllep a 9wk old bub should be having.
Another suggestion is to try and do a feed, play sleep routine. So feed bub, then let her play and check for tired signs around the 2 hour mark after bub first wakes.
To this point neither of the above has worked for Loren...but I am trying to get her into some form of routine.
Liz - I always have a shocking day with Loren when it is time to poo!!!
Nic - I am trying to express but I only get around 40mls for both boobs.
-
just copied this from a site I get all my info from ( hope I am allowed to do that) this is for a 9 week old bub
How your baby's growing
In a word -- fast. From now on she may gain almost 1kg a month. You'll probably notice that she stays awake longer too -- some babies this age are awake for up to 10 hours a day. Your baby's also getting stronger. She still can't hold her head steady, but you might notice her keeping it up for a few seconds at a time. Other changes include the ability to focus on objects 17-20 cm away, and track them as you move them from side to side. She might also glance at her own hand when you do this. Being able to "regard" her hand, as development experts call this activity, is the first stage in reaching out and grabbing things.
I definetly don't remember Olivia being awake for 10 hours.. On the odd bad day yes.. Even now she isn't awake that much....
-
Bek - that makes sense about the sleep! but how much SHOULD they be sleeping in a day is hard to work out..i guess all babies are different!
nic - Chrissie already holds her head pretty steady... i don't need to hold it much anymore..only when she is REALLY tired! hmm 10 hrs a day.... well mine is usually awake for 5 hrs in the afternoon alone..from 3ish - 9ish!! hmmm wish she would distribute that during the day though... she doesn't stay awake very long after a feed..
Oh she's discovered herself in the mirror too!! i thought it was too early for that, but she focuses on herself already!
-
Kayla's corrected age is about 7 weeks.. and she's holding her head pretty steady! I sit her on my lap and she watches Tallon play, and I've started carrying her on my hip LOL. She does flop a bit now & then, but she manages! Perhaps being prem she's had more practice with her head? heh. She's been smiling for the last couple of weeks so that's on time. There's no way she's awake for 10 hours.. that sounds a lot. Altho I might be surprised if I were to add it up I spose. She can focus a lot further than 20cm too. She hasn't really discovered her hands yet.. she does suck on them if they happen to find her mouth lol.. but not deliberately yet.
-
Liz - how much does Kayla weigh now?! That's great that you can carry her on your hip! i can't wait to be able to do that too!
-
She's 5.7kg now (bare). She's averaged out her weight now I think.. not the whopper that she used to be!
I don't have a choice carrying her on my hip sometimes.. easier when dealing with Tallon. hehe. She feels too long to cradle her with only one arm.
-
WOW.. way to go Kayla!
Chrissie is over 5kg now..and i find it hard to cradle her now.. in fact she doesn't like it anymore..! Having one hand free would be fab!! :D
-
I have just found a really good table with the suggested amount of sleep a baby needs at different ages. I have copied it from a website to an word document.
Am I allowed to post is here or should I email it to anyone who wants to have a look?
-
I carry Olivia on my hip sometimes but facing outwards. She gets tired of being held close especially when it is so hot. Olivia has always had a pretty steady head. at her 8 week needles the Dr and nurse stood there watching her amazed at how she held her head LOL..
I am still in shock my little girl is over 12 weeks. i mean when did that happen?? (if anyone says tuesday I will cyber slap you :P)
I was just saying to Dh last night just how easy things are now. it only took close to 3 months but hey we survived :) I am sure there will be more crappy days and nights to come but they are less painful and further apart..
yay for our babies
-
Bek: posted while i was :) If you aren't allowed to post can you PM it to me as I would be quite interested
-
WOW Nic 12wks already!!!! Time really flys.
Nic I have tried to copy the table to the pm message box but the table does not merge correctly. Can I email it to you?
If you don't want to share your email address with all I will pm you my email and you can pass it on that way.
BTW - HAPPY VALENTINES DAY
-
Not a problem.. ethisa@iprimus.com.au :) thanks
Well screaming gassy baby.. Poor bub has a bell;y ache for some reason.. I think it woke her from her nap cus she is might grumpy

thanks!!

Hi everyone,
Happy Valentines Day! We went out for a nice day in The Dandenongs with our little 'third wheel' lol. Anyone do anything nice?
Olivia found her hand a while ago and now regularly sucks on it. Although she tends to prefer to hold it like she is holding an ice-cream cone and lick the top as if it is an imaginary ice-cream iykwim. I also think she focuses much further away than 20cm. She watches us walk in and out of rooms she is on and follows us as we walk around.
Now she has started 'calling' for us. She doesn't cry but just kind of yells when she wants us and we are not in the same room as her :-)
-
Happy Anti-Valentines from me ;) My little protest.. No we didn't do anything nice as DH worked but he rang me a few times and gave me a kiss and promised me something special tonight
My Little Miss O calls for us too. Its kinda funny cus she yells like she is upset but when you walk in the room she goes quiet and looks.. who me. I didn't make that noise..
Olivia was not a happy little girl tonight. didn't cry for long but she was just unsettled.. She is asleep now. who knows if it is for the night or not.
Bek: Thanks for the info. Olivia is pretty much right on target with her sleeping give or take an hour here or there depending on how her day is going
-
Happy valentines day everyone!
Just a quick hello as im sooooo tired and this is my only quiet moment for today.. Ash had one sleep today and i had to wake him up to go out! :(
Went to an antenatal apt today for a group of mums doing massage sessions and ash was the demo baby.. but the only thing he demo'ed was how to hate being there and cry till u get boobies,,hehe.
Ash has to have his needles next tuesday and im soooooo upset about it. i so dont want them to hurt him.. was anyone else upset to do it, cos i feel like everythinks im being stupid.
good to hear most of u had a lovely day. :)
nite from me!
-
 I know how you feel.. I hate taking the kids to get their needles.. It doesn't get any easier either.. hate to tell you that . but I don't think you are being stupid no one wants to take their babies off to get stuck with a needle.. Can anyone go with you for moral support? I always take dh
-
im trying to get mum to come with me but she always got her mum to take us to get out needles done cos she couldnt stand it either :( so i think shell come with me... i need the support big time. even just a reminder that im doing this for the best of Ash.. :wall:
-
 I will be thinking of you on tuesday.. oh and I usually get teary when they do the needles so don't think yo are alone there.. I bet ash is a good boy too and hardly cries for his mummy...
-
I'm the hard-hearted hannah around here I guess.. needles have never worried me.. and when Kayla was having bloods taken a few weeks ago, she wouldn't bleed for them, so it took ages and she was screaming.. the poor nurse was so upset worried about how distressing it is for the mother.. well.. I was fine! LOL. Obviously it's not nice seeing her cry like that.. but it didn't upset me iykwim. I was just calmly giving her her dummy and talking to her trying to calm her. *shrug*.
