morning ladies,
alicia - OMG that is so Chrissie!! she does exactly the same thing with her hand! And she follows us too... if you look at the pic in my gallery of her cradle, at the top of the draped fabric there is a bit of a gap where we can look in at her without her seeing us! WELL lately she's been finding our peering eyes in the gap! little bugger!
Lauren - bugger! strange... must be something in the air re sleeping these last few days!
Liz - that makes two of us.. i'm the same as you re needles! doesn't phase me!
OK... the last 3 times i tried expressing i only got out 30ml each time from my "mega" boob which usually supplies me with 80-100ml expressed EACH go! WHAT is going on!?!?! Could my milk me drying up???...... OR is it because of the mini pill.. i started taking thing two days ago....could it reduce my milk..? OR is my milk just "settling down".......
-
PS.. we had a good night here... slept from 9pm - 1.30am then from 2.30am- 6am! only 1 night feed! WOOOHOOO
-
Haroula, I can top your fantastic night huni ;)
Abbey slept from 9pm til 6.40am, no wake ups whatsoever !!! My boobs are soooooooo full though. She's sitting happily in her swing now.
BBL to catch up.
Oh BTW Haroula, that really is a fantastic sleep for a 7 week old baby :D
-
Haroula: what an awesome sleep!!
The mini pill could be having an effect on your milk.. Ask Barb she might know.
Trish: Great sleep for you too :) Must have been the night for it
Olivia slept 6pm to 3:30am :D and then 4:15 till 7
yet I am still foul!!! Either I have serious PMS or these kids have simply pushed my buttons to the point of no return. Simon is taking me out for dinner on Monday so hopefully that will be enough of a break..
-
Gotta be quick but Haroula don't stress at all about your drop in production with expressing - it is perfectly normal and your supply IS NOT dropping at all. Boobs (and brains) know when there is a real baby attached to you and you will produce less on the pump until you get used to it. So much so that many women who express at work take their "baby porn" with them - photos of their bub to stimulate milk. I get heaps more when Ollie is in the room than not. Please don't worry about this at ALL! :)
-
thanks ladies...
was just worried cause i been expressing pretty much from beginning and it was weird to see such a drop... so i give her EBM during the day and boobie at night. It's what works, otherwise she doesn't eat enough at each feed to sustain her the 2-3.5 hr sleeps and she's on the boob then every 1.5hr!!! does my head in!
Nic - way to go Olivia!! what a sleep!!!
Trish - great sleep for Abbey too!!
-
Haroula - I heard that your supply starts to settle in around the 8wk mark and those ladies who have over supply often experience a drop in supply but apparently you still have nough for bub. hth.
-
Hey question?
I just weighed Olivia at the chemist. and since the 2nd February she has only gained 200grams. So thats 100grams a week.. Is that ok??
I guess I am just worried because the CHN wanted her reweighed in a month..
(this is a fully dressed weigh on the chemists scales) 2nd February she was 5.62 kg and today the 15th she is 5.82..
-
Nic - I've seen barb say somewhere that around the 3 month mark they expect gains of 80-120g per week. I'd say she's fine :) If the nurse was worried she'd probably want to see her sooner than a month :)
-
Thanks Liz.. I need to keep reminding myself of my own advice and look at the whole child not just the weight gain. I am not used to such a small child. All my boys have been well over 6kg at this age
-
Good morning all
Trish- Nic - Haroula- Way to go on Abbeys, Chrissie and Olivia's (pixie) sleeping its great when they start sleeping longer, I know with Olivia since I have been giving her a bottle of EMB at night before bed (around 100 to 120ml) she will sleep for 6 or 7 hrs then wake for a dream feed and sleep through to 7am or longer.. She is asleep again right now and has been for a hr so far..
Nic I think the kids have pushed you too far I hope the dinner you have with Simon helps you relax and de stress ...
Trish - hope your son is home and behaving himself for you now :D or are you still hitting your head on the :wall:
Haroula - Maybe your supply is being affected by the mini pill considering you expressed previoulsy with no problems maybe ask the dr about it...
Buzzie - hope Ash's needles went ok and you had some support with you esp being your first its scarey seeing them scream in pain.... I get a bit teary too but I know its for the best...
:DHello to Liz Rory Rory and Alicia hope you are all well and our babies are being nict to you:)
Been doing lots of work around the place as we are consolidating all out debt into one which is under 100 000k which I think is great for 2 cars a 4 bedroom house personal loan and credit card...The banks house valuator will be around next week sometime...
I forgot to get Olivia's needle's done yesterday I hope the delay isnt a big problem
Last night my other half was a ***** I HATE it when he drinks I cant sleep as I know if I do he will go out and I have to take to hiding my purse and the bank cards otherwise he will just spend ****loads of money on booze ...Sometimes well most of the time I resent that as I have no bad habit's ie smoking or drinking my biggest slurge is on my horses...Well horse now..
Isn't it so quiet in here seems we have lost a fair chunk of people, only the same people post now which is great which means I can keep up sorta have a brain like a seive these days I have to reply on the bit down the bottom to recall who said what...
I really hope I haven't forgotten anyone I am trying really hard
-
Congrates on all the bubs sleeping so well. Miss Loren was up to her old tricks again last night. I finally got her down at midnight, she slept till 4am had a quick feed and then slept till 7am. So she had around 6 hours overnight. I have had to put her in the sling today for sleep because she is just a cranky bum and won't sleep for me...arrrggghhh.
Oh yeah and she won't take the breast again either...Over the last few days I have seriously considered switching to formual. However the old mother guilt thing is really muking around with my head. I really wanted to give breastfeeding a good go this time but at the moment it is doing my head in and DD1 is missing out because I am spending so much time trying to feed and settle Loren.
Sorry poor me session is over
-
teena: thanks I am really looking forward to a few hours break from the boys. while I love them dearly they are seriously pushing me.. I am sure we will all enjoy the break from each other
I wouldn't worry abut not having needles done on time. a week or 2 won't make a difference I would just suggest keeping them the same distance apart kwim? so go again in 2 months from now..
and yay on the loans.. Ihope it all works out for you..
 about your DP.
BeK:  Don't let guilt get in the way. While I am pro breastfeeding and would probably feel the same way as you in the same situation. If you want to go to formula just go. you have given Loren the best start in life regardless for how long you Bf. they say now even just colustrum has huge benifits.. So to have given Loren 9 weeks of Mummy Milk you have done well and don't forget that. and why not give the formula but offer the breast first.. Even if she doesn't take it at least you know in your mind you have offered it.. :hugs:
I am having such a relaxing day. Ethan and school, the boys are outside as it is cold and dark.. yes cold in February in QLD.. and Olivia has just gone down for a sleep :)
oh does anyone elses bub do this.. When Miss O has her bath we say kick kick kick to her and she goes off. Arms and legs fling everywhere crazy look on her face and then she stops and stares.. then you say kick kick kick and off she goes again.. Its hilarious
-
Nic - Loren loves kicking her legs in the bath. I'll have to try the kick, kick, kick thing.
I go to a playgroup with lots of long term bfing mums and I often look at them and think why I can't I do that. Honestly they make it all look so easy. Then I think that I just have not tried hard enough and I am not dedicated enough....bugger I am having such a "sh#t house" emotional day to day.
-
HI Girls, I am just poking my head in, sorry I have been so AWOL but we are having MEGA colic issues and Liam hardley sleeps at all during the day so I am constantly rocking him off, putting him down and then having him wake up 10 mins later.
Today is the best sleep he has had, 2 hours so far.
BekZ- I really feel for you, I am having the BF/ FF battles in my head at the moment, but at the end of the day I am going to do what is best for Liam and me and my family. I am like you, because I am spending so much tim with Liam, Tori is missing out big time, and that sets of the mummy guilt too. At the end of the day, you just do what is right for your family no blame or shame!
Anyway I better make the most of having both my babies asleep and catch up on a few things.
-
:hugs: Bek. I don't know what else to say. Bf isn't the easiest thing in the world to do and you have done really well to get to 9 weeks..
I guess the only thing to dois go to ABA or give them a call.. You will have someone local you can talk too..
-
I just had to come back and share this vid of Olivia this morning in her bath
DropShots.com
-
Trish - Olivia and Abbey must have been sleep buddies last night as Livi slept from 9 til 6:30 as well!
Nic - I wouldn't worry about Olivia's weight. That happened to us a few weeks ago, Livi's weight gain slowed for 2 weeks but then she certainly made up for it in the following 2 weeks! LOL at Olivia in the bath, I think you have a backstroke champ there!
Teena - I agree it is quiet in here. Where is everyone?????
Quick question - the last few nights Olivia has been going to bed earlier and sleeping longer (great) but now it seems that during the day she wants to eat more often. She is not necessarily eating more over the course of the day, just eating more regularly iykwim. So far today it has been 6:30, 10:30, 1:30, 3:30, 5:00. A few weeks ago she was only eating every 4-5 hours like clockwork, now it seems unpredictable. Could she be hungrier during the day because of sleeping longer at night?
-
Hi girls, I am here and reading just too much to keep up with atm.
Brandon is gone, still, since Wednesday night. I've just had the Police here and filed a missing persons report :( Why oh why can kids not think of their bloody parents.
-
:hugs: Trish. I hope they find the little bugger.. Maybe when he does come back give him a wake up call.. Take him to a hospital or some other sort of place and show him what can happen to kids who runaway and do stupid things... Dunno if it would work though. Some kids think it will never happen to them :( thinking of ya! hope your weekend brings good news
Thanks Alicia.. She sure loves her bath.. Makes us laugh everytime
Well after a long unsettled day Olivia hasnow been asleep for over 3 hours . Now to just keep those naughty boys away from the bleepin bedroom.. GRR
-
Oh no Trish, I'm so sorry. Hopefully he turns up soon and doesn't drag this out too much. Huge hugs for you :hugs:
-
hope he turns up soon Trish
-
Trish - hugs sweety.
Loren still unsettled....grrrrhhhhh that is all day
-
Trish - hope your Son shows up soon - how stressful for you!
H - your comment about your "mega" boob not performing made me laugh. I'm sure you are still producing more than enough for Chrissie.
Nic - Olivia is so adorable in the bath - loved the crazed look that comes over her.
Bekz - hugs to you for the crap day you've had. Hope tomorrow is a much better day for you both. Don't compare yourself to the other Mums either - you can only do what you can do. Think about all those Mums out there who don't even try b/f or only do it for a couple of days. Compared to them your doing/ have done a great job!
Hi to everyone else - bbl for more catchups!
-
Oh Trish :( Don't really know what to say.. hope he turns up soon. Gosh what a worry :( If you need a chat, I'll probably be online most of tonight.. will be trying to get a few things done and waiting up for loads of washing to finish (joy!).
-
Thanks Mto2 :) I love that crazed look too. It cracks me up everytime. She just gets so excited. I swear she understands me when I say it is bath time. She wil go all quiet and then I bring out the towel and the kicking starts..
Trish: thinking of ya!!
Bek: I wish Loren would settle for you. I can only imagine how frustrating and upsetting it must be..
Olivia was pretty good tonight. she slept from 3 - 7:30 and was fed bathed and fed again and back in bed by 9 :) So I hope she follows in Abbey's and Olivia M footsteps and sleeps till 6.
I was just saying to dh tonight that I don't mind the night wake ups it is more the time she wakes. Like when she wakes at 3 and is awake till 4 then I have to get up an hour later with the boys it makes it tiring.. If she woke at 1 or 2 it would be fine.. Oh well she will sort it out eventually..
-
Nic - yeah, I don't mind the night wakeups these days, coz she goes straight back to sleep after her feed.. no probs.. doesn't even need the dummy :) But if DS happens to wake at the same time.. OMG.. that's a nightmare coz they both want me, and they both want booby! Feeding them at the same time is lovely in theory, but it's quite complicated LOL.. and not something that's very comfortable especially for Tallon at 5am! So I end up awake for ages with the 2 of them, then it's pretty much time to get up. That's tiring. Thankfully it's not every morning!
-
Liz - 5am get ups - I don't think I would cope at all with them, October was bad enough.
-
anyone live in pakenham
hi was wondering if any1 lives around pakeham want to start playgroup
-
Can Olivia read the time already??
It does not matter what time she goes to bed but she wakes at 3am every morning. well between 3 and 3:30. I really thought because she went down at 9 shemight just might sleep till 5 or 6 but nope3 on the dot.
It is poop day I think so she had a tummy ache and lots of popping off lol.. but at least she is happy now
Liz: I hate when Jacob wakes at the same time as Olivia too but it is usually at 5 never during the night thankfully. It has happened a couple times but dh was home and dealt with Jake,
Hi Waychee: Not from the area but hi anyways :)
-
Morning all, nothing to report here...
trish - let us know wat happens with brandon, its amazing how many things im saying sorry to my mum for wen i was a teenager from hell. maybe it takes being a parent to finally understand wat mums go through! i take my hat off to my mum now, and gees was a darn right ***** at times!!
-
Please someone help me make her poop :( I hate this part. She is just crying and crying and nothing will help her. Why do they say BF babies can't get constipated. Surely this is constipation if it hurts? Sure the poop isn't hard but it takes a lot of effort for her to poass it..
Might be IF time..
-
it is horrible watching the little bubs push and squirm, every fart that smells I think is this it.
-
does Sofia scream and scream for ages and ages?
-
Morning all,
Just posted some new pics in my gallery.
BBL
-
Nic - I go through this with Loren all the time, especially if she has not pooed for days. I read an article here on BB, basically if the poo is runny it is not constipation. All the pushing and grunting means bubs intestines and bowel are still imature. Finally got Loren to sleep at 11pm. She then slept till 2am, then from 2.30 till 6am, then 6.30 till 10am. Not bad for my miss
Question: If your bub spews after a feed (even if it is a very short feed) do you try to continue feeding? or do you let them rest for a bit?
-
Nic - she is more very unsettled than screaming all the time, does cry but will on settle if being held, then she goes quiet, I then put her in her rocker and she usually will do the poo.
-
How are the flood waters near you Nic?
-
Alicia: Olivia is just gorgeous!!
Bek: Olivia's poo while runny are very thick.. Is that because she goes so long between them?
As for the little spews. I usually burp and cuddle and try and make her wait. If she isn't crying or looking for more I don't offer it. I find once olivia hops off she is done anyways. She only feeds for short periods. Maybe 5-10 mins other times like just before her big sleep at night she might feed for half an hour
Well I gave IF at 9:30 still no poop but she has slept on and off. It is 12:30 (almost) here and she has had a decemt feed and is happy in her swing while we eat our lunch.. I even got a smile and tiny laugh.
Trying my hardest to get the boys rooms sorted today.. toys are going beds are being moved.. I have one hell of a mess  Between Olivia and the boys I haven't got very far. I try telling DH it is hard to do the big jobs without his help but he doesn't get it. Of course the mornings I get sleep ins he can get the whole house clean without any trouble. how?
-
Louise: She will scream regardless of being held or not. I bathed her and she settled for a bit but then fell asleep across my knees for half hour. but like I said above is settled for now. Although since I typed this she is starting to grizzle
as for the flood waters. Where I am is very overcast. We haven't seen the sun in days. they are forecasting more rain.. but so far only a few drizzles here and there. Its bloody cold though  23 c in February in CQ is odd indeed..
The major flooding happened in a town 5 hours north from me. Simons aunt and uncle live there. they live on a property just outside of town.. their property is under water but thankfully thier houses are ok. is Aunt was out digging trenches as the water was coming down off the mountain too fast. the road leading to thier house is a mess apparently..
and Miss O is off screaming again..
