Miri is signing for the potty when she needs to poo now! i'm so amazed. I thought it was just a fluke, but she's actually doing it.

It is a really good age to start as they want to communicate and can understand so much - they pick the signs up really quickly once they get the idea.

I must admit I'm a genuinely curious - how does a 14-week old eat food? I read about people starting at 3 months and I just can't quite picture how you'd actually do it...?

AUDAX -Unfortunately Eden doesn't have many fat rolls. He's not too skinny, but he is on the leaner side. DS1 is skinny, they take after their father. I haven't even started my Christmas shopping yet :/ I was going to start this Saturday and thought I would shop for presents while I shop for things for Eden's party, so I'll be completing it next week

MADB - I can't believe she is telling you when she needs to do a poo. That's incredible. Are you toilet train her? Unfortunately my back is still niggly. I had another AP appointment last week, and took the week off exercising, but it's not 100%. I unfortunately might need to take a trip to the chiropractor. I'll see how it goes over the next week & decide then. Who's been feeding their 14week old? I don't understand why someone would start feeding their baby at 3months?

Eden's starting to walk more & more now. He does it now without us asking him too, just between couches etc

PP - solids at 14 weeks WT!!!!!, there was a case over in america where a mother started her baby on solids early and the little one's body couldn't handle the food and the little one pass away from being feed tooooo early.

Georgi - Hana has a lump on her neck it is a lymph node, we need to keep and eye on it. If it start's to get bigger or move than we need to go back and get it checked again. She has had it since she was born. charlie has also started walking between the lounges, sometimes he just lets go of the lounge and takes 5 to 6 steps and falls to the ground. they are soo clever. It amazing on how much they learn in the first 12 months of life, I just find it soooo interesting.

Audax - I just love christmas time with the kids. Christmas tree up, decorations eveywhere and a few presents under the tree. Kids are soooo excited.

Charlotte - How are you feeling? still got ms. We call our hana Hannie it's funny how we make some names longer and other names shorter. My Alex get AL and Jack gets Jackie, sam gets sammy.

MadB - What a clever little girl signing for poo, we use to teach out kids sign lanuage when we had the preschool, they loved it.

AFM - All is well our way, we go away on the 17th of dec for 7days kids are excited. Hopefully we start to get some hot weather it is sooooo cold. Went and saw my OB yesterday he is such a nice man. He will book me in for a c - section as I had a prolapsed cervix with charlie he dosen't want me pushing out another baby, fine with me..... Still have ms and a cold...... so sick

MadB - that's awesome on the signing! Eleanor is not too keen on pooing in a nappy at the moment, much prefers to drop her nuggets on the carpet! I'm with you on the solids at 14 weeks, even with my big hoofer of a kid I just don't get it.

I'm wrapping presents here and there. We swore we wouldn't be spoiling this luscious baby, but here we are with *9* birthday presents already (to be fair, that includes the grandparents') She is getting a wooden ring stacker, a doll (both from the op shop!) a pair of bloomers that I made, a sundress, a crate of Duplo (the big one!) and family have got her a VHC blanket, puzzle, dress, Tupperware shape sorter and a few mysteries. One of the packages that arrived today had all the presents busted open, so that's how I knew what they were.

We did our photo for our Christmas card today. Eleanor did a wee on the tinsel. Nice. My fault for leaving her nappy free, I guess, but I'd put a hairclip in and she hadn't noticed, so I decided not to push my luck, as it was sooooo cute. This cold weather was a real spanner in the works as far as her outfit went!

She's trying to crawl! Sort of. more sort of dragger herself and bringing her legs forward, but she moved a bit. very, very pleased with herself.

CATHIE - it sounds like Charlie & Eden are at the exact same stage with walking. Another couple of weeks and they'll be running! I hope the MS takes a hike soon. Gosh I felt sick all the way to 34 weeks with Eden. Just the thought makes my stomach churn

AUDAX - Bahaha... Weeing on the tincel & dropping nuggets. You do have a way with words lol. Is it her birthday today or tomorrow? Well a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY Eleanor for whichever

MADB - Another lady from BB calls her daughter a floor slug as she hasn't been crawling much. Too funny. Good to hear she's on the move

Well I seemed to have lost my voice a little & I think Eden has a sore throat. He sounds a little husky. I hope it's not too bad for him.

Tomorrow is The Big One.

I think we've just smashed into the start of Wonder Week 55? I'm certainly not allowed to stray too far, and DD is trying to bury herself in the boob at every opportunity. Makes party prep a bit tricky, specially with DH away. We're due at neighbourhood Christmas drinks in 20 mins, and the apple slice I was taking won't cook because Dame ClingyPants won't let me in the kitchen! She is tired and consequently completely unco and she keeps banging her head on things.

Oh well. It's raining so much anyway our party will be well dampened. :(

can you put her on your back while you're cooking Audax? I resort to that for dinner time quite often. Tonight DS actually entertained her! yay. older siblings come in handy sometimes.

Floor slug! :lol: I think of DD as a Planter - as in, she really knows how to plant herself somewhere.

Hopefully that brings me back up to date a little! Thanks again everyone for Jacob's birthday wishes, I keep looking at him and thinking wow...how did we get here so damn fast!? We're really well, immunisations are out of the way, was very upsetting. I took DH thankfully as I could not have held him while they did it. I cried as it was! I hate having him so upset and not being able to just grab him! We've had a lot of snuggles since then though :) Other than that he's great, he is so much fun I just love spending time with him, he makes me laugh so much every day. He has such a happy spirit. I laugh and he laughs, he also loves to be chased which is hilarious. He tries to provoke me all the time, walks past with a cheeky grin then squels and starts to run. Anyway, I better get to bed (nope, still no sleeping through here).

:( The Paediatrician called yesterday, Eden's kidney's are still mildly inflamed and he wants to see him on Monday. I'm guessing it's going to mean an operation.

We've booked for his immunisation next Friday. I hope he will be ok for his party on Saturday

Audax - Eden is very clingy too. If DH isn't here when I am cooking dinner he will stand at the safety gate and whinge whinge whinge. It's very hard when DH is sleeping (working night shift) and I'm trying to keep him quiet

Yes MADB, it was better!!! The paed just wanted us to come in to make sure Eden was developing well and wasn't having any health issues. So he ask a thousand questions and checked his blood pressure and general health etc. He's happy with everything so has given me a referral for another ultra sound at 2years of age. He's pretty sure it will be better by then. He has also said to try to toilet train earlier as this will also help fix the problem. He said to start at around 18months. Eeeekkkk.... That just seems not far away at all.... Anyway... Everything is fine... I'm still a bit concerned that he's only 8.8kgs, so just over the 10th percentile for his weight. Though the Paed wasn't concerned one little bit.

jules - yes this will be my first C - section, alittle scared but i am a little relieved as Charlies birth was a shocker. i just love this age, they are sooo cheeky but hey what do you do..... just enjoy. Before you know it he will be 15 and he dosen't want to be seen with you... :)

All is good here just getting so tired with the busy days. Today was the last kinder session though and all we have left is swimming on Monday so things may start to slow down. Or not being this close to Christmas. Harper has been doing ok, sleep has improved slightly but a couple of nights ago we went back to 2-3 hourly waking (just for one night thankfully). Otherwise we seem to be getting 4-5 hours. I haven't changed anything really apart from the feed to sleep during the day. I now try and feed her on the lounge or in her room but with the blinds still open, so she doesn't really fall asleep feeding. It's working it just now means i have to rock her to sleep in my arms, that's working ok, she does fall to sleep that way but it's just another sleep association we'll have to wean from later down the track. For me i really wanted to change the feed to sleep so this is a start. The nights though if she wakes i feed her. Jules the book is good, it does give you a lot of ideas and things to try. I spoke to the sleeps school and she gave me a few tips also but her approach did involve some CIO in a way and it just does not work with Harper. She is so stubborn that it could go for ages and it's just not want i want to do for her or me.

We had the MCHN yesterday day and although she wasn't extrememly concerned Harper is only 8.1kg and only put on 835 grams in 4 months (she has dropped a percentile in her weight but stayed within the same range as she was with height and head). So i'm gong to make a few changes to her diet and see if that has any effect on the sleeping also. I was talking to her about the sleep issue and she said that i should call the sleep school back. They are supposedly booked up for 3 months . If not she gave me the numbers of some private ones and with private health i may be able to claim something back. I don't think i'll be making any decisions until after Christmas.

Aidan had an eye appt yesterday just for a routine check and we have been referred to a specialist. It's something to do with his eyes not necessarily focusing together i think. The optomitrist said the issue usually involves long sightedness but Aidan's was pretty good and not at a point where she'd prescribe glasses. So she's sending him to a specialist to make a decision. So i have an appt next week. Amazingly i got in and it's perfect timing as i've reached the medicare levy ($190 appt :o). So whatever happens there i just hope it's something that can be fixed.

Must go to bed girls. Will try catch up more xoox

Miri's had this bit of a cough - just 1-2 very infrequently the past few days. I wasn't even sure if it was really a cough, or just cleraning her throat, you know? Tonight I heard her go whoooop between coughs. crap. Will try to get in to doctor tomorrow. not sure how worried I should be. I think she's fine - obviously not serious if it even is WC - but we've been in contact with other kids & babies :o

hope things turn out ok with Aiden's eyes EJ.

MadB - I'm not feeling too bad today lets hope it's a sign that the ms is going away. My kids have a cold and coughs, the school kids bring all the bugs home.... I would like to thank all thoses parents out there that send there kids to school SICK....

Well charlie boy thinks he is the best thing since slice bread with his walking, he looks at you before he starts just to make sure you are watching and the kids make such a big deal everytime he walks. Charlie's birthday on Monday he is getting 3 presents, that's the problem when your birthday is sooo close to christmas.
We go away on saturday lets hope it stops raining, OH well what can you do..... Still haven't told anyone about our new member of the family, I'm dreading some peoples comments........ sometimes I wish people would just think before they say a smart arse comments.

Hannah's audio went well, she lost consintration (for some reason I cannot spell that word today, curse you baby brain!!) toward the end so we're having one last review in 6 months.
Hannah's needles are coming up soon. Because she's been sick we're going to wait til end of January at her "corrected birthday" instead.
I'm sure there's other things happening but I'm too exhausted. Not sure why. HANNAH SLEPT LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :leap:
After weeks of getting up 6+ times a night she slept from 10pm til 7.15am.
So nice! If it wasn't for the cat annoying us at 4.30am it would have been the perfect night.

Anyway, I need to go get packed, DH is away for the weekend and I'm staying with my folks so the boogymen don't get me. :rofl:

EJ, I am long sighted and have a lazy eye, which turns out a bit when I'm fatigued. It could be corrected with very simple exercises, but, like my eye, I'm too lazy to do them so wear very low-power prescription lenses when reading. I'm sure being so young, Aiden's eyes will respond to simple exercises to help him focus.

Millie is doing okay - she had a fever last weekend so we had to take her to the vastly inferior weekend medical centre. Prescribed antibiotics... for what was, when we saw our regular, vastly superior GP on Monday, a viral infection. (Throat again, poor mite can't catch a break!). She said that as we had started the ab, to continue them. Then on Wed she broke out in a terrible rash... back to our GP - probably an allergic reaction to the abs. Dammit! Other than the petri dish that is daycare, she's doing well - sooo close to walking on her own, she just needs a little confidence to let go of our hands! The front right tooth has cut through properly now, but the left side of her gum is still bulging so fingers crossed they come through soon, they have been making her miserable. I got the babyhands book, cards and poster, and we're working on meal time signs like drink, eat, more and finished. I discovered at the daycare Christmas party last week that one of the Mums is deaf - she has a hearing aid and signs with her kids, and the younger one is about Millie's age so perhaps they will spur each other on? Thanks for your encouragement ladies, DH has really got into it too which is lovely.

Dad's op went really well, he was released from hospy early on the proviso that he take it easy... which he's not, so Mum is really fretting and we're all worried that he's putting his health at risk. I got to go out with MG last night which was wonderful, and headed to Featherdale Wildlife Park with them today. Lovely :) School has gone out with a whimper rather than a bang for me which I am totally fine with. So bizarre that when I was a student and for my first few years of teaching, there was a huge buzz around the end of the year. Now it feels like, oh well, I'll be back before I know it so no need to get too excited...

Feeling a bit flat at the moment. I think it's the weather. I need a good dose of Christmas cheer!

Thanks for the reasurance regarding the eye appt for Aidan, i'm eager to get it over and to know what the specialist will say. The appt involves dye in his eyes and will go for up to an hour and a half. I hope he handles it ok, i wonder how i should prepare him for it?? So your long sightedness hasn't been an issue for you at all? My mum wears glasses and i'm ashamed to say i'm not even sure what for :redface: After Aidan's appt the other day i booked DH and I in for a check too, it's been years since i had one and who knows if DH has ever even had one.

The dye will be fluroscene (sp?) I imagine - his whites will turn orange and they will fluoresce under UV light - actually VERY cool and painless apart from the initial discomfort of having drops put in. I'm not sure how you would prepare a little guy for that long an exam - maybe call them beforehand and ask their advice? Hopefully the specialist will feed his curiosity and explain all the "cool" instruments rather than just letting him feel intimidated by it all. Nope, longsightedness has always been a great asset - I can read street signs from miles away so always seem to know where I'm going, tee hee :) I do really notice when I don't wear my glasses when I should - like two days this week preparing the time table for next year... bad, bad move.

Man, we reached it in around March this year lol. I don't know how we manage to reach it so early but we do, every year. I've also managed to get all specialist & ultra sounds in before the years out so we can claim full benefit

PP - Fever, then rash??? Sounds like Roseola. It's going around, badly.... All the babies in my other belly buddies group has had in it, all within a few weeks of each other & we're all around Australia! Eden had it too. Three days of fever, then the rash appeared. It also caused a slight ear infection. Oh yay to the baby hands.... Can't wait to hear how it goes. I find girls are better at it than boys so Millie will do great. Glad your dad's op went well

Eden's Birthday party today... Very exciting. His cake looks amazing. I decided on the womens weekly train cake. Man, it took me & my MIL 5.5HOURS!!! So much work. I'll upload the pics to facebook tomorrow.

Eden had his immunisation yesterday. Boy was that awful. He screeeeaaamed. He slept all afternoon and is still a sleep now. He normally wakes around 4.30/5am. And of course I had a late night last night so was praying for a sleep in but of course I woke at 4.30am anyway grrrrrr!

Georgi, congrats on the cake! Sorry to hear Eden was so upset about his vaccs :( I'm not looking forward to doing Millie's - I guess we'll go in January.

As for us... Friday night was pretty bad for Millie, she was up for two and a bit hours for no apparent reason. We were like zombies on Saturday. Saturday night she only stirred very briefly at 4.40, then slept in til 7.25!! I felt quite chipper yesterday, which was good as Millie refused to sleep all afternoon, despite being too tired to read, play, crawl etc. I ended up toting her around in the ergo, even put her on my back for the first time so I could prep dinner. She then slept for 12 hours!! She kicked up a fuss when I tried to put her down for her morning sleep, so given yesterday's kerfuffle I decided to try and keep her up for one midday sleep. She's been out for an hour and I'm hoping for another, but we shall see... Her eating is improving, after refusing any decent quantity of food for about 10 days, she is apparently ravenous today and demolished a whole weet bix, some yoghurt, a piece of cheese and a sandwich.

Speaking of diet, she isn't interested in her bottles any more, which I'm fine with, but how do I go about making sure she's getting enough calcium? She has milk on her week bix and loves cheese and yoghurt, but I imagine it's not enough...?

Apologies for absence, we have had a huge week! The last party guests finally left yesterday. The birthday party was fabulous. Nellie loved all the visitors, and the endless line of volunteers to take her walking round the backyard! She was filthy by the end of the day, but she had so much fun. Wouldn't have a bar of her cake, but loved the hot chips!

We are having a fairly small Christmas. Mum can't travel just now and Dad will very likely be in hospital. My brother is coming, so it will just be the 4 of us.

Gotta go - the little Christmas fairy has just done a wee under the Christmas tree. i think I know where to set up the potty now...

PP you could confirm this but i'd offer cows milk maybe 2-3 times a day, by memory i think i'd give 50mls at a time and whatever they have is fine. All the other dairy she is getting sounds pretty good to me.

I'm currently giving Harper 50ish mls morning and afternoon.

in all honesty, if they had as much dairy as the dairy corp says they need, they'd never have room for anything else. :)

Quiet in here! Lots of busy one year olds!

We are enjoying getting ready for Christmas. Except the gifts from the ILs arrived yesterday, a 5kg satchel full, with no less than FIVE for the baby. And almost all of them feel like soft toys. :rolleyes: And DH got a book, despite me telling MIL that he didnt want it. Ah well. Good thing they won't come to visit, hey?

Nellie has learned to open and close doors. And is playing lots of hidey-type games. Last night I found two Duplo people in one of my slippers, then this morning, while I was in the shower, apparently she crawled over to it looking for them. I also found a crayon in the washing basket, and a ring from the ring stacker in one of my saucepans. :lol: It is ssssooooo funny!

Lol Audax! Miri is doing that too, especially now that she's on the move. Really glad it took her this long.
She's a character and a half - loving all the ways she's so different to DS. Still keeps me guessing. She actually asks to go to bed when she's tired for pete's sake!

Finally i can tell the boys there's only one more sleep!!! It must have seemed like the longest month for them :lol:

Things are moving along nicely here. I have to prepare for family coming over tonight AND tomorrow. All good though happy to be able to have the kiddies at home.

So Harper Barper seems to have become personality + since her 1st Birthday. So much chatting and eye contact and snuggles and clapping of hands and Ho Ho Hoing when she sees Santa. It never ceases to amaze me no matter how many little ones i have been blessed to see grow. We seem to be making some progress on the sleep topic. Feeding to sleep is now and option but not a necessity :dance: and if she is feeding before a sleep she is not necessarily falling alseep. I was rocking her to get her sleepy but if she wasn't yet sleepy she would struggle in my arms for a bit and this was getting difficult, frustrating and i was worried that we might have an accident. So one night last week i put her in her cot and lied on the bed next to her. She rolled around in her cot just sooking, some crying in which i sat up and gave her lots of hugs and then she'd drop herself back down again and roll around head down and bum up a little more. It took maybe half an hour but eventually she fell asleep without too much fuss. Some times she will eventually doze off and sometimes i pick her back up and help her but it's such a huge step from where we were. I see such a difference in her quality of sleep and i've even had a 6 (almost 7hr) block one night!!! And another big woo hoo for me is that yesterday she came christmas shopping with me (would have loved to have her at home with dad but he wanted to work outside so she had to come with me) and she actually fell asleep in the pram!!!!!!!!!! Huge huge acomplishment for us because it used to be that no matter how tired i knew she must have been she just would not do it. So i feel some confidence in finally being able to say we're getting somewhere and i see the change in her because of it. All that matters to me :)

She's speeding around the place on her hands and knees now and much more confident when standing on her feet, no real steps being made but some very stiff legged ones here and there. I can't believe this is where we are, life is pretty special.

As for AA and his eye appt, it was found that his vision is fine, even in both eyes and he does not need glasses but the turn is definately there. They call is squint eye and he needs to have surgery to correct it. The specialist wasn't very forthcoming with info on the actual condition so all i know is what i've read on google but i'm hoping when we have an appt with the surgeon next May she'll go through things with us in much more detail. My initial reation to hearing the word surgery was tears but i want to do all i can to help my boy. So we'll take it from there in May. In the mean time the turn is becoming more and more noticable. The other morning while playing on our bed he went nose to nose with Harper and my gosh i could only see half of his eye ball. I'm not sure what he notices if anything :dunno:

PP yay for school holidays!!! Like i said we're having my dad's family around tonight for Christmas Eve and then DH's family (or some of them) for lunch tomorrow and then i think we have to go to DH's sisters place on Boxing Day (family rift can't all be together at once :rolleyes:). THEN we go away on Jan 16 for 2 weeks. Really looking forward to that. How about you what are your plans?

Well that's a positive again. I did remember seeing you said that they never actually tested.... Just as long as she's doing well is all that matters :)

yeah, I had a swab done later as had a runny nose :lol: and was negative. :dunno: it normally wouldn't clear up with the ABs, but since they're immunised the presentation is most likely to be different anyway. hard to know. definitely don't have it now anyway :)
