Babies Born December 2010

Audax the patterns are actually really great, really easy to follow and put together. What a fun day for you and DD, always great to get a pap smear out the way.

Audax/Georgi the edible paper sounds really interesting. I too went to the spotlight sale yesterday and was looking at the cake making stuff. I found edible glitter also!!

Great skills MadB, i got one of those bag thingys once for Harper but thankfully never had to use it. Would have been an interesting challenge if we had to. Singing classes sound great, i wonder if they are a little similar to mini maestros like what we do. Glad DS enjoyed them though :)

Georgi we were home yesterday from 10ish and it was great to get Charlie and Harper down for their normal sleeps. Sometimes i wonder if my sleep battles are a no win situation because her days are so hit and miss also. It's so hard to get into a pattern, life is just so hectic. But on a really good note the wrap was a sucess, i'm a little torn about beginning to wrap again at 11 months but we got sleep!!! The both of us and that's got to be a good thing. It's one thing for me to complain but surely her little body needs some decent stretches also!? AA has kinder today and i hope to have Charlie and Harper down during this time so hopefully i can have a read in daylight hours. Hope Eden can have a bit of a snooze for you today. Gosh they are a challenge aren't they!!??

So as i said to Georgi we did have a good night last night, it was down at 7:30-8 (which is a little later than normal), i went to bed at 9:30ish i think and didn't hear from Harper until after 1am!! Fed her and didn't hear from her again until 5ish where she fed and then slept till 7:30am. If i could get back into that pattern i'd be more than happy... even happier without the wrap!?!

But Harper is great, switching between crawling and commando crawling everywhere. Just such a happy girl.

Better get outside, DH has been building a cubby house/fort for the kids and it's not quite complete but enough is done for the kids to just want to be out there all the time. I can hear them from here playing... talking about trains and "hurry up charlie they're coming", i love to see them playing so happily together. I'll try and put some photos of it on snapfish soon.

Well she had to sit there for quite a while and just kept getting her to drink water till she weed. There are ways to tell that they're going to wee or poo if you pay close attention, it's the basis for elimination communication (some people use the toilet/potty for their babies from birth instead of nappies)

Signing class - to learn sign language. It's to help them communicate better before they have verbal communication skills. We did it with DS too and it was great - he could communicate really well long before he could talk much. He was so interested in signing class (which was for babies, not him, but anyway) that I think that was the quietest I've seen him in ages.

Glad you got some sleep EJ. I didn't :lol: Miri's on a different AB now, one targetted for this infection. And she has to have an ultrasound next week to make sure there isn't some underlying problem causing the UTI (doc said it's very unusual in such a young child. Funny, the other doc said it happened a lot :dunno:). Anyway, we'll see what that shows up, if anything.

MadB - awesomes on the signing! Eleanor signs "no", "where" and "finished" and she has her own signs for "milk" and "bed" I did a course through work, and it's been fun to use them. She's quite the little communicator, our girl. She also says "broo" (bird) "moo" (milk! lol!) and Dadda and is starting to follow instructions. She found a pin in my craft room the other day, picked it up, signed "no" (she knws she's not supposed to have them) and made a noise like she was frightened or in trouble. I took it, and said thank you, and then she burst into tears because the whole terribly dangerous ordeal was a bit traumatic! I hope the UTI clears up. Cranberry juice?

DD's cake will be vegan; I probably won't let her eat any either. Or maybe I'll make it fruit sweetened; I let her have that kind of cake sometimes.

EJ - You never know she might just need the wrap for a few weeks just to get into a longer sleeping pattern and once she's use to sleeping longer then she won't need to wrap anymore. It takes 21 days to form a habit, or unform one... As long as you're getting more sleep, that's all that is important. I bet you felt so refreshed yesterday. I'm hope she had a better night again last night.

MADB - I thought that's what you meant. I'm sure I have mentioned that both my parents are deaf so I am fluent in sign language. Eden has been signing for a couple of months now. He signs milk, more, finished, mummy & bed. DS1 was also great at sign, and still is, but what we found with him is that as soon as he started talking, he stopped signing, which was interesting as my niece continued to talk and sign until she was stringing sentences together. My dad lives in NZ at the moment but he'll be back at the end of next year so I'm looking forward to him being around the boys all the time so he can constantly sign to them so they can learn the whole language. My mum is in Sydney so she's not around either.

AUDAX - Yes she does sound like a good communicator. Watch out when she starts talking tee he he... It'll be never ending

Well once again Eden only had 2 x 30 minute sleeps yesterday, and he woke this morning at 4.30am! Grrrrr...

Last night was crap :( The wrap just kept getting in such a mess (which is why i gave it away months ago) and she woke as she normally would. As you said georgi at least i got a good nights sleep the other night, a bit of a recharge.

I'm slowly getting through the book and i'm about to the part where she's going to tell me what to do. Am i crazy for wanting to think this book will solve all my problems? I'm just a little lost. She said something along the lines of only doing this if it's what you want to do, not because other people think your baby should be sleeping longer... this has nothing to do with anyone else other than me wanting more sleep for the two of us. I'm feeding her in her room every time she wakes so DH is pretty much getting a full nights sleep.

I'm wondering if i should buy another sleeping bag?? She has grown out of the two she has but don't want to be just throwing $40 away if it's going to do nothing.

That's really interesting about the signing girls, i've never had much to do with it at all. Georgi i hope you don't mind me asking but is it just coincidental that both of your parents are deaf?

MadB so frustrating when you get conflicting advice from dr's. I hope the new ab help and kick in really quickly.

Oh georgi 4:30 is torture, harper woke at 6:30 and was chatting away but the boys were still sound asleep so i fed her and she went back to sleep for another hour.

Miri was dreadful last night too - cried and cried and hardly slept. Maybe it's teeth again? I dunno.
EJ, getting up to her must mean you get almost no sleep at all. Can you bring her to bed with you instead? That would at least maximise the sleep you can get in between wakeups. On nights like last night I also hand over to DH at around 2-3am and go get a few hours sleep on my own. Would die otherwise I think

Yeah, watch out for those blabbermouths.... I think we're hoping Miri will be quiet :lol:

That's great all the signing babies :) Miri seems a little less motivated to sign than Ari was, but I think it's partly because she's starting to talk already. Ari dropped his signs once he got the hang of talking.

Ok girls, you must be laughing at me surely.... I know we've been talking about signing and i understand the purpose of all of that but i took your singing class for SINGING CLASS the other day MadB.... God i'm loosing it :redface: :rofl: Please excuse me ladies :wall:

MadB the thought of harper in my bed is sooooooo nice, i love snuggling with her. I wonder how it would go just one night... It would be interesting to see how much sleep we both get doing that :dunno: I'd love to pass her to DH but it just wouldn't work, she won't have him and he doesn't have the patience to perservere.

Go for it EJ. You'll get more sleep, even if she still wakes as often. And who knows, she might sleep better having you right there.

Bedsharing doesn't work for us anymore. But when it was good, it was sooooooo good. It is much more restful, because you're not getting up. Nowadays we only bring Nellie into bed if the sun is "up" So any time from 4:30 onwards. She will sleep well if it's just the two of us, but when DH is in the bed too it's not so great.

We've been doing a fairly clockwork hour and fifteen sleep at 8-9ish, then a 40 minute sleep at about one, but camping this weekend, then off to see mum for a week from Wednesday. And swimming on Monday. So between all that, I think I might throw the routine out the window a little. For the most part, it suits our life really well, but there's always gotta be a speed hump somewhere to mix things up!

I am knitting a blanket for Eleanor. Just making squares to sew together in some colours I like. 6 squares down. 64 to go!

ah well, just kick DH out then :)

EJ - You really need to do whats best for you and constant night wakings really can't be good for you when you have 3 kids to look after. I hope the book does help resolve things. It has worked for some people and might just work for you too. I would still be holding on to hope. Please let me know if there is a section on helping babies stay asleep till LONGER THAN 4.30AM GRRRRR. Another early rising this morning. I must admit that I was awake anyway cause of the stupid 4am singing choir of the stupid birds out my window. No I don't mind you asking anything about me and my family..... There is a very large deaf community out there. Back in my parents schooling day there were special schools for deaf children so they all went to school together. Well there were separate schools for boys and girls. So the deaf always marry deaf. These days is different though, especially with cochlear implants. I think majority of children born deaf nowadays get the implant. Though there is alot less deaf than my parents generation as rebella is now immunised against. My grandma had german measles when she was pregnant was mum though it is hereditary in my dad's family. We were lucky our children aren't deaf as it skips generations

AUDAX - We're going camping too! We're leaving around 10am today & should be back by lunch time Sunday. It's the first time we've ever gone camping. Have a great time

MADB - Yep, Byron threw out the signing once he started talking too

My boys have never slept in our bed :( They just won't. If I take them in our bed in the early mornings, they just play around and annoy us so there's no point. It's both of them too so I must've done something wrong there. Eden was in bed with me for two weeks when he was 3 weeks old when I had mastitis as I was too sick to get up. But that was it.

Ok so off to camping today... Catch you all next week!!

Enjoy georgi!!!!! I hope it's heaps of fun for you guys, i'm sure the boys will love it. You too, i do my best to relax as much as i can when camping. Thanks for explaining about your parents, that's really interesting. I have not had much experience with deafness or signing at all, like you said it's not all that common anymore with the implants and the immunisations. I'll let you know if i find anything about the early wakings in the book. Harper was awake just after 6 again today happy and chatting away, i went in and fed her and put her back to bed asleep but it only lasted maybe 10 min. Somtimes i get another hour out of her.

MadB we kind of tried it but it didn't go so well :)

Harper was in bed by 7ish and awake by 9ish. I fed her but she didn't go back to sleep too well, i fed her again, still no good, then i held her and she fell asleep in my arms but wouldn't go in the cot. At this stage i hadn't had a shower or was even ready to go to bed. I ended up getting a bit frustrated and left her with DH while i had a shower, she played with him till i was done. I went to bed with her and she fed again and tried to fall asleep but she just kept wiggling around, burrying her head and putting her bum up in the air. She'd settle and then i'd try and check where she was situated to know she was safe and then we'd start all over again. In the end i put her in her cot (this would have been after 10pm) and she actually slept until 3am!! We also gave her some panadol as she'd had rosey cheeks all afternoon. She woke and fed happily and like i said to georgi was up just after 6am.

Honestly i'm handling it a lot better than i would have with the boys, i would have gotten much more worked up about all this but i still do have my moments. I'm trying to get through this book but there is so much beforehand that you have to get through before she begins to tell you anything about what to do. I think i'm almost there. I would just skip it all but i figure i do that and i'll have to go back and read it for some reason or another anyway.

Anyway we have to be out of the hosue in an hour. Have a great weekend georgi and audax (and trip to see your mother too).

This Queensland sun Georgi! It gets up so early! Wouldn't it be hilarious if we were camping at the same place!

Nellie bee had a late arvo nap yesterday, so was really hard to settle at night. I ended up sitting next to her cot in the poang, rocking, and she just lay there and went to sleep by herself. I stayed for a while just to make sure she was truly asleep, and she rolled herself into some mangled looking positions! So cute. She woke at 2:30, cold. I threw her blankie on and she slept until 5, which was nice.

We were at a BFing seminar yesterday and today, just helping out, and she had a great time, waving and blowing kisses and ringing the bell to go in and the food! She just ate and ate and ate. It was a room full of midwives, and she won every heart. Very sweet.

Georgi - Hope you have a great time camping!! I miss camping, I used to go all the time when I was younger. As for weaning, not sure what I'm doing really, Jacob is not quite ready to stop, he's a bit of a boobie man. I think I'll just go with the flow, much to everyone's disgust, I'm just not going to be pushed into weaning when it's the right thing for us at the moment.

PP - Thanks for your wise words, I couldn't agree more. :) Happy Birthday again to your beautiful little girl, I hope she's had a lovely day! Good luck for tomorrow's party in the park, sounds lovely! have a fantastic time! How's work going? You must be close to holidays soon?

EJ - I totally understand you wanting to believe the book will help you out. I have my :crossfingers: that it gives you something to work with. If you find it useful let me know and I'll run out and get it myself. I'm just thankful I only have the one at the moment as I'm not sure I'd handle more kids as well as you are. You're doing awesome lovely lady. I actually sleep in Jacobs room on a mattress with him as it's the best way for us to get some sleep. when he cries out in pain from what I assume is his teeth I only have to reach out and give him a cuddle and he'll fall asleep on my arm in minutes. We still do night feeds though but normally only two or three. Just do what works for you. :hug: Oh and if it makes you feel any better I can't give Jacob to DH either as he hasn't got any patience at all. Can't wait to see pics of Harper's dress!! Go Harper with the crawling!! What a champion! Bet she's loving her new found freedom :)


Audax - That cake sounds fab!! Hehehe to the pap smear, nothing like having your gorgeous little girl there to turn it into something a little more comfortable! The seminar sounded like fun, of course she won hearts, she's a little sweetheart! I miss her photos of FB, are you not on there anymore? Nellie is a good communicator already by the sounds of it!! That sounds so cute.

MadB - Signing classes sound like a great idea. I need something like that as I need to be taught also! That's a great idea about me going to an ABA meeting, they do have them here once a month but it always works out that I'm away when they have them. And it's a bit difficult here as I keep a low profile as it can be really clicky and I just don't do 'drama'. Probably be a good thing to go along though, I do need a bit of support with continuing for now.. How's Miri feeling? Hope the new AB's have settled in and you're both getting more sleep.

Cathie - How you feeling?? Hope ms is being kind to you!! I too have a DH that does the sewing :lol: DH was in cadets and can sew my buttons, hem my jeans and mend my tops and dresses! how incredibly handy is it!

All good here, nothing new happening. Going up north next week and having Jacobs first 1st birthday party on the 28th Nov and then his second on his actual birthday the 3rd December. Hope everyone is well!! xox

My sister flies in tonight - Ari's beloved 'boo boo' :lol: He even had a nap today so he could stay uup and go to the airport to meet her. She's just here for the weekend, but it'll be great to see her as always.

EJ, that's great you got a bit of sleep. Any change you make will take time - if you're trying something new you need to give it a good week or two as it takes time for them to get used to it. Same goes for co-sleeping if it's a new thing. I always found it took 3-4 nights before DS would start to settle into the new 'thing'. Haven't tried anything with DD as it was always ultimately futile with DS. No sooner would something 'work', but he'd get sick, start teething, hit some other developmental leap or something else.
Anyway, having said all that, I think sometimes it's pretty clear very early on when something just isn't going to work :D

You can get books and there are online resources for signing too. Maybe have a look and see.

I think last night was ok... :lol: Can't remember.

So far what i've gotten from the book is the routine side of it, i understand it and it makes sense to me. I thought we had one going but the trouble is it's so hard to stick to. I'm generally on my own trying to get 3 kids organised for bed and DH gets home by bedtime. But depending on the behaviour of all three it can get a little stressfull. So if Harper is tired and then having to listen to me get grumpy at the boys i can't imagine that being much of a peaceful night time routine. But i'm going to work at it.

Yesterday we had music and were at the shops by 11am as i had a couple of things to get, I haven't done it in so long and i won't do it again this year :angry: it's way too stressfull. It took me two or more hours to get to a couple of shops. But as a result of that Haper didn't sleep until 3:30pm and only had an hour anyway. It is really difficult to have a day routine during the week but things like yesterday i could avoid and i just have to try and do that. It's not fair on Harper and i'd rather not get so upset at the kids. It's been a bad week with them anyway :wall:

So Jules what i'm thinking is that we are hoping to get the boys bunk beds (didn't get them the other week) and i'm wondering if somehow i can get Aidan's bed to fit in Harper's room. It's a king single and i want to hold onto it for her it's just that space is a bit of an issue. But if we can manage that i might be able to catch her a little sooner when waking like you and see how that goes.

Oh we have another one almost ready to have a birthday!! Enjoy visiting the family and celebrating your gorgeous little man Jules. I think you're pretty strong and determind to make bfeeding Jabob what you want it to be, you've gotten this far.

MadB enjoy having your sister around. Sounds like the family will love it :)

Audax who could resist your Nellie (finally got that right also :redface:), she's is just too cute. I miss seeing her photos also :)

Hi all!

Wow, it has been an active weekend on bb! Happy and safe travels Audax and Georgi!

We had a brilliant weekend, Millie has been so excited! I'm not sure if she really knew what was going on, but she must have been responding to the energy around her - she was so happy. And this was before we let her have sugar! She got to taste her cake but had lots of fruit (I had kiwi fruit all over me...), sandwiches and meatballs before that. I am just so thrilled to have had a whole year with my little girl - she is so wonderful :) Here's some pictures - the album covers the month so far but there's her actual birthday and the party there. I'm chuffed with her outfit and cake! Oh and you can see the pics of my friend's little boy - sooooo tiny :) The weather was perfect and we are just so blessed. Hoping we'll have another blessing on the way soon too - I'll keep you posted ;)

I had my legs waxed and a full body salt scrub today. It was wonderful!

I'm knackered, I'll try and check in more regularly and keep up with persies properly. Sleep tight, lovely ladies!

Thanks Jules, the cubby house has been a work in progress for nearly 1 month now, we're trying to have it finished by Harper's birthday party so all the kids will have something to do. Haha your DH sounds pretty keen, he can maybe start planning it out and make it for Jacob's next birthday. I'm pretty confident it'll give the kids years of fun.

PP thanks for the photo link. Looks like you guys had so much fun and fantastic weather. Thank goodness you weren't in Melbourne, it poured with rain all day saturday. I loved Millie's dress and hat they were gorgeous. And her cake!!!!!! Loved that also. Wow what clever mum!! Look forward to news of more blessings for you guys ;)

I had my stevie concert last night and it was great, completely outdoors so thankfully the rain was saturday and not sunday. DH survived with harper barper, she did her normal performance for him but was asleep when i got home at 10:30pm (in our bed) so i slept on the couch until she decided to wake and then fed her and got her to bed. I'm going to try and get her to have a quick hour before swimming this morning... what's the chances she'll want to sleep longer!!?? Always the way when we have to go somewhere.

Well It's Lily's 6th birthday today, I can't believe she is 6 wow. So we will be having a little family party for her tonight, the kids enjoy our parties as we play games have baloons and the bithday child gets there fave Dinner. Lily wants a sausage sizzle. I don't think that's going to go done to well for me :rofl:

Charlie boy let go of the lounge today stood there for a few seconds clapping his hands he had no idea of what he was doing but I was excited...

EJ - Byron use to play happily in his cot when he woke in the mornings. It was great cause I could still doze through it until he got over it. Eden just cries and cries and cries until someone comes to get him. With all these birthday's coming up how are we gonna share photo's with you without FB? Perhaps we can email some?

AUDAX - Ha ha... I was thinking to ask where you were going in case it was the same place, but I thought no way... That would just be impossible.. How was it?

JULES - Good on you for not letting people push you into weaning. I feel like I was pushed a little with DS1. DH & his parents saying that I've fed for long enough and shouldn't be putting up with the biting... So I did stop at 10months. Now looking back I wish I pushed through it. This time round is a totally different story though. Actually I'm interested to see what FIL has to say when they come up to stay with us next month. Although I will be in the process of weaning, I'm a not a new mum anymore and dare him to say something to me lol

MADB - I bet you're having a great time with your sister. You're a seasonal camper aren't you? I'm pretty sure I recall you have been camping numerous times

We had a wonderful time camping... However my back is stuffed again now... I have to book in to accupuncture to get it sorted as stretching isn't doing it. The boys loved being outdoors. Though the second night Eden woke around 3.30am. Normally at home we let him cry for 5 to 10 mins and he goes back to sleep. Of course we didn't want him to wake up the whole camp site so I fed him and found it really difficult to get him back to sleep. He then woke around 4.45am so I was just exhausted. I didn't sleep a wink both nights. I'm not sure if I could handle a third night though we've decided to try it for 3 nights in February.

It looks like Eden is not far from walking. He's now letting go of furniture and looking at where he wants to go then he looks like he's about to walk when he decides it's not a good idea.

He's been driving us mad this week with his whinging and clingyness. I can't see any new teeth coming through so just don't know what's wrong with him. But I hope it passes soon

We came home with so much washing that I haven't been able to catch up on. Now it's raining :(

Glad you had a good time camping Georgi. We had planned to do something in December, but haven't actually organised everything so don't know if it'll happen.
I'm really too tired to do much of anything at the moment. I don't think Miri has slept longer than 2 hours at a go since before we got back and some nights I think she must be wakign every 30 minutes or something very silly.
This arvo she didn't want to nap - she screamed and screamed until I took her out of the room (and Im ean really screamed and pushed me away and hit me when I tried to comfort her). I think she was having a tantrum! My goodness, it's a bit early for that, isn't it? So I should be in bed, I know, but I just have to have some me time before I do that. No energy to actually do anything constructive though.

Georgi, how's your back? Has Eden settled down at all?

MadB, how are you travelling today? Millie has had a couple of episodes like that, throwing herself around and really screaming. It's pretty scary, she's getting that little bit bigger/stronger now and I worry that she's going to hurt herself.

Things are busy here but okay. Millie is getting cheekier and cheekier as the days go by. She knows there's things she's not supposed to do, like touching the TV screen, and she'll wait til she knows we're watching, and slams her hands onto the screen, grins like a loon, and then says "don't, don't!" Cheeky monkey! I have realised how often I say "no" and "don't" and am trying to find alternatives, but sheesh, what else do you say if she's chasing the cat or angling for the oven?! She's currently sporting a big swipe mark down her forehead - she was patting Tink, but then started playing rough and... well, Tink set her own boundaries. Millie HOWLED but admittedly hasn't harassed the cat since... She has cut another tooth, bringing her total to three, and has been super clingy with it. I hate that she's so uncomfortable, but I love the extra cuddles :)

MADB - Yes Eden has tantrums like that all the time. He's certainly not the calm gentle baby Byron was. He gets so worked up sometimes, nothing can console him

PP - My back is still sketchy actually. I had an AP session which helped a little but I think it really needs rest. I've still been gyming 4 days a week & playing squash another day so haven't allowed it to heal properly. I am managing it though. Eden is a little better but his seperation anxiety is pretty bad. He needs to be in the same room as me otherwise he just sits and cries, and cries, and cries.... Not practical at all.

So Eden is just a handfull at the moment. As I mentioned to PP he needs to be in the room with me at all times otherwise he just cries. He's totally off his food. Just has a few bites of his meals then throws the rest on the floor. He's not having much BM either. He'll probably have 1 or 2 decent breastfeeds a day and that's about it. He's been like this for a few weeks so it's starting to worry me a little as I am still thinking of weaning next month but don't feel like I can if he's not eating properly. I'm praying that he sorts it out very soon otherwise it's really going to get me down. Ontop of that he's not sleeping properly. He's been waking around 4.30am, and having around 2 x 30 min naps a day. Yesterday we were out all morning so he didn't get a chance to sleep (well he fell asleep in the car a couple of times but I had to wake him after 5 or 10 mins upon arriving at our destinations). We finally got home around midday where he fell asleep on the boob then slept for nearly 2 hours. I am wondering if I should try to drop him to one day sleep. I tried the other day but he fell asleep on the loungeroom floor while I was preparing lunch (around 11.15am), so I woke him for lunch, but he kept falling asleep in his high chair. *Sigh* I just really hope he settles soon.

He had two ultra sounds yesterday. One for this lump he has behind his ear which he has had since he was 5 months old. The Paediatric surgeon says it's either a cyst or a lymph node. If it's a cyst, she wants to surgically remove it (eeekkk!). We see her on Friday for the results (FX for a lymph node). The other was for his kidneys. All my pg ultra sounds showed his inflamed kidneys so he was scanned at birth which showed they were still inflamed. The paed said it corrects itself 90% of the time by the time the boy is 12 months (girls risk is higher). So FX it has corrected itself. I'll have to ring today to get the results. He hasn't had a UTI which is a great sign that it's all ok.

The other morning Eden slept till 6.15am (though Byron was awake at 5am), I thought it was great, until I went in his room and found him in a cot full of spew! Dried spew! He had obviously done it earlier in the night. Not sure what is was or why he was sick but it's the first time he's ever spewed.... Then my poor DH was up the following night hugging the toilet bowl. He always gets sick if one of the boys was sick.

On a good note..... Eden took 3 steps yesterday. He's been trying to walk for days now. When I say trying I mean he lets go of the furniture, looks where he wants to go and moves towards it but doesn't move his legs. So he ends up face planting... He thinks it's very funny. But yesterday he actually moved his legs and took a few steps. I'm guessing he'll be walking by his birthday. He walks holding onto furniture if it's an option rather than crawling so he's sure getting good practice

Just a quick update on us.
Hannah is doing well, she saw the paed a few weeks ago and since starting 'real' food (rather than baby food) she put on 600gm in 3 weeks. Amazing!!
She's up to 7.4kg now, so still now big enough to turn her carseat around! Yes, a 1yo in a reverse carseat!! :rofl:
She's cutting a molar and it's murder, finding it hard to deal with. Nighttimes are when the pain really hits and she just gets so distressed when we try to put her down.
I put a vent in the Punching bag Room.

Hannah's pulling herself up against everything, which looks funny because she's so small!!
She's still in 000 pants because of her tiny hips, but everything just looks like long shorts because her legs are so long. So annoying.

Today a year ago was when I was told my c/s date. I remember that appointment so well. In one breath we walked in and got told "OK, I've looked at the results and the placenta is really failing now and the fetus" (hate that word, she was a BABY) "has nearly stopped growing so you've been booked in for a c/s at the end of next week. Come over here and I'll take your blood pressure"..... O K.....

We're not doing anything for Hannah's birthday, just a meal with my parents at home. I just can't be bothered organising anything. Everything would require travelling because we're rural.

Still feeling sick and sore and got a baby bump. 8w 4d today... Really must go see the doctor and confirm so I can get my scan....

So hungry, gotta go.

Charlotte - Wow, she's doing so wonderfully.... That's great news. Awesome weight gain.. My 3 year old can still fit into size 1 pants cause his waist is so small lol. Though they of course are way too short for him. Eden is still rear facing. It's not uncommon to keep children rear facing for as long as possible. DS1 was rear facing until he was 19 months old. And then I only turned him forward facing as he hit the weight limit for rear facing. In other countries it's compulsory for children to be rear facing until 4 years old. Australia is very lax with their child restraint rules however there are people out there fighting for the change. I can't stipulate enough how much safer it is for your child to be rear facing. Especially when they are so small. Their heads are so heavy, so in the event of an accident, they can seriously damage their spinal cord. Take what you will of course, but I just couldn't go without mentioning something :)

Am I allowed to post a You Tube link about rear facing V's forward facing here? Anyone??? If so, I will post this link for you which is what made my DH agree to keeping our kids rear facing for as long as possible

Hi ladies still here just been really busy. It's at that crazy time of the year, this time last year i was so organised and just awaiting the arrival of our little miss...

Sleep is still a real mess here, i'm at a loss and have called a sleep school and they are calling me tomorrow for a phone interview. Had a bit of a cold this week also so i'm struggling.

I have just gotten back from taking Charlie to The Wiggles concert, it was so much fun and i loved just being able to do something with my little man. Missed Aidan and Harper like crazy though. My MIL had them and apart from a melt down from Harper around her morning sleep time she was pretty good, MIL got her to sleep twice!!!!!

Last weekend was the boys Mini Maestros concert and it was so good, my boys brought tears to my eyes once again (i always cry at those things) they make me so happy. Harper decided to have that be the day that she started clapping also, so there is video of her sitting in the crowd doing first claps to the boys up on stage. She's pretty much crawling everywhere now. Only 4 sleeps until her Birthday!!!

I'm excited it's christmas time and to see the boys so excited.

Ladies i hope you are all well and i'm sure keeping extremely busy. I must go Harper doesn't sound too happy.

well, the good news. think we have the poo situation in hand. Giving her kiwi fruit and when she starts straining I put her on the potty. that seems to help and she's pooing ok now.

Sleep is still gaaaaaahhhh. I was wondering about molars but thought it was too soon. but maybe Miri doesn't want Hannah to get too far ahead of her ;)

You can post the link Georgi - it's been posted before. I didn't watch it as I thought it'd be too upsetting. There's an fb group too. I didn't know how much safer it was till well after I'd turned Ari. We'll keep Miri rear facing as long as possible too - so it's not strange at all to have a 1 year old facing backwards :)

Great work on the weight gain Charlotte! I guess eating and weight will be a constant worry for you after everything little hannah has been through :hug: It's really normal for them to have eating days and non-eating days. DS is still like that.

Hope the scan is all clear Georgi :goodluck: And hope your back is better soon too! Give him a bit of time with the eating - still very young!

Georgi - We have just turned Charlie around in his car seat, he hated rear facing for such a long time but we kept him like that until last weekend.
EJ - Sleep school, yay, you will have to let us know what ideas they give you!!!!!! ESP for 3 year olds GRRRRRRRR.
MadB - Charlie has tantrums he holds his breath, Sam was also a breath holder. I hate it.....
charlotte - yay for Hannah putting on weight.... I keep spelling Hana like we spell out Hana......
PP - I use No with charlie, what else can you say to a 12 month old. When he tries to pull the cats tail, pulls the kids hair. When he goes near the oven I say Hot, Ouch. He did Pull Co-Co's tail the other day she swiped him NO claws out and it scared him, he now crawls around the cat. Co -co does attack the twins it is quite funny.

Charlie is going well he took about 6 steps last night, he has no clue.... He is such a good boy. The twins keep him entertained during the day, he crawls around everywhere following them...

charlotte - Go Hannah! still rear facing carseat here too! Haven't had her weighed for a while though... like since 7 months. Should really get on to that. Generally I'm happy with the "count the fat rolls" method, or alternatively "look at the chart and make something up for when MIL invariably asks" method, but after 5 months, maybe it's time for some facts. :lol:
Today a year ago I was booked in for induction by a midwife I didn't know, and it all felt very out of control and discomforting.

Georgi - so a cot full of spew is the secret to sleeping through? Hear that girls? Give it a try. Or, erm, not. Hope you are all better now. I'm passionate about rear facing carseats too - that link makes me cry every single time.

I went out for dinner last night, I didn't realise how long it is since I went out without the baby until I found myself checking on an empty carseat halfway! We really need to get out more, but we just don't really have anyone we can leave DD with. The ILs never visit, my sister is flaky, and now my mum's sick. I'm not quite ready to ask a neighbour, but gosh I miss my friends.

EJ - good luck with sleep school. This time of year is very hectic. Our family isn't too bad, apart from whirlwind trips to Sydney, DH off o/s for a week, and a birthday party, but I see it in my friends with older kids. It's crazy.

MadB - tantrums here too. A doozy this morning over not wanting to eat crusts. She was doing it up until 2 weeks ago, when her dadda got back from the US, and he was a bit of a soft touch (unlike Mumma Hardass who rolls out the old "eat this one, and *then* you can have another one) and now Dame Nellie von PrincessPants won't eat crusts anymore. So we got some Logie-worthy tear-less wails going on. Ditto if she can't sit on my lap while I go to the toilet, if she can't scrunch up our wedding photos, can't have my sewing scissors. Yesterday I got tired of saying no, so I just let her eat out of the compost when she signed "more" and pointed to it. Turns out she wasn't finished with that pasta after all.

On the "no" thing, though, I don't just say that. I sign it, and then explain why. So the stove gets "No - no, sweetie, not for you. It's hot (sign hot) and I don't want you to get hurt by burning yourself, so stay away from the stove" And now she signs no or hot at the stove. And a coffee cup. She's curious, but not naughty, so I don't think it's fair for her to get into trouble.

Sydney was pretty good. Mum was really tired, and I sort of got the feeling we were keeping her from resting, but she had a great time. Eleanor just went crazy for her Grandma, it was really beautiful. So they played together and I cooked up a storm, left her freezer full of meals.

Also, we had our first painting experience yesterday. Green from here to billy-o. She used her paint-sodden hands to wipe her tired eyes, so she ended up looking like a green-tinged member of an emo band. She didn't want to stay in the bath, so I was shovelling rice crackers in to try and make her stay while I stealth-scrubbed. She mostly enjoyed it though.

wow, you're tough audax! :) We didn't clue in to that till DS was much older. He still tries it on, though. Dinner battles are his thing. Well, he tries and we just say, ok, go hungry. He got funny about his crusts after starting daycare - ate them no worries before that.

Actually one of Byron's first words was yes lol. I really don't know how that happened but it was funny as all the other babies at mothers group were saying no and he was say yes to anything. I would ask if he was a fire truck and he'd say yes lol.

Bahaha.. I love your weight measuring method AUDAX. I haven't weighed Eden for quite sometime either. I was so caught up in Byron's weight gain, due to him being premmie, that it stressed me out. Eden is quite lean and small so I know he's on the lower scale. I figure there's not much I can do to get him to eat & drink more so why bother stressing about it.

CATHIE - I hear you on the sleep school for 3 year olds. Actually I need more of a sleep in school for Byron. He woke us up at 4.30 this morning. I sent him back to bed of course, but I didn't get back to sleep. Then Eden woke at 5 anyway

Off to the farmers market this morning to get some decent fuit & veg. The shops here just don't cut it

Oh I forgot to mention that I finally did my back in on Wednesday. I just wasn't managing the backache so it was bound to happen. Thank goodness it was only a mild incident but I am now forced to take the rest of the week off exercising in hope it completely heals. I had an AP session on Thursday and am taking some herbal anti inflamms. FX the rest finally fixes it. I really should have taken some time off before the incident on Wednesday

Georgi, how were the results for Eden's lump? Hope surgery is not required, poor little man (and poor Mummy :( ) Sorry to hear that your back is in such bad shape, that is no good. Are you able to get enough rest with the boys around?

Charlotte, nice to see you 'back' - hooray on how well Hannah is growing!

Re: car seats, we just turned Millie when we got back from Germany (so she was 8 months) as she'd hit the weight limit for her seat and looked pretty uncomfortable :( - knowing what I know now, we'll get a different seat next time and keep bub rear facing for a lot longer. I can't remember where I've seen it, I think someone's forum signature - "I did the best I knew how to do - now that I know better, I'll do better."

Hi Cathie! Coco is tolerant keeping claws in. Mind you Tink did previously, but I think Millie did actually hurt her that night. They were playing together beautifully last night. Tink does keep sneaking onto Millie's lounge, even when it's up high... her way of asserting herself I suppose.

Ah, Audax, you have a way with words! I loled at Dame Nellie and the stealth scrubbing. I do explain to Millie why she shouldn't do certain things - most of the time I let her explore unless something isn't safe. To be honest I was trying to keep her away from the tv because DH is fussy about his electrical goods. Now I just let her go, and he has gotten over the handprints on the screen :) I always intended to do sign language with her but like so many things it has got away from me. Is it too late to start? She's able to communicate a lot of things already, but it might help her avoid some frustration... I just looked for classes and there's none in our area, but I've requested the free chart and will look for the book when we're out today.

All good here. Millie is starting to fight her afternoon sleeps pretty hard. She used to be able to sleep in the ergo or pram if we were out but I guess now she is just too curious and interested in what's going on. When she starts to get fractious I'll put her in the ergo and she will have some quiet time, just watching what's going on. It's a busy time of year so the last two days we haven't had the option of being home and putting her to bed. She's managing okay though. Yesterday we met DH's niece and her DS - 14 weeks old today and she has started him on solids - what the?! He spits most of it out - of course - but :doh:. I wish I'd had the guts to say something but she was clearly acting on her Mum's advice (who I was also meeting for the first time yesterday) so I butted out.

It's a big week here - DH is having the plate taken out of his ankle tomorrow, and my Dad is having his deep brain stimulation surgery on Thursday to try and treat his Parkinson's. We've waited so long for this but I'm having trouble believing it is going to happen. So apprehensive but so hopeful at the same time that poor Dad will get his life back.

I've been doing some sewing - FINALLY finished Millie's quilt (oh yeah, the one I started when I was first pg with her!!!) and a little outfit. I bought poly-cotton fabric for the outfit as the print was cute. Never again. Being primarily a patchworker, I'm so used to 100% cotton - it's soooo much better to work with. I'll put pics up eventually :)

Better go shower, Millie is asleep and we have babylab again today (the auditory research centre). I think she's up to a PhD now :lol:

Sorry I didn't realise I hadn't posted about Eden's lump. All good. The scan shows a lymph node again so the surgeon is happy to leave it and just keep an eye on it. We have to go back in 6 months. And the Paed was away last week so I have to call today to get the results from the kidney scan, though I'm pretty confident that it's all fine

Eden seems to be eating better now. I dropped his afternoon feed so he's only on 3 feeds now and all of a sudden he started eating again. Yay!

Georgi - we definitely find that more milk = less solids too. But I just let her decide what she wants. Those fat rolls don't lie - she's getting enough :D

PP - we have babylab today! They're coming to us though, Thursday we have to go in there. It will be weird, because we usually go and visit Daddy for a coffee afterwards, but he's away at a conference, so we can't! Might go visit my old work instead.

We did our Christmas shopping yesterday. Not as bad as I thought. I got us a tree and then stayed up last night putting it up, exhausting but totally worth it to see Nellie's face when she saw it! She just went down for her nap still pointing and saying "Wowwwww" Forgot to get sticky tape for the presents though :doh: We're going to have a crack at making a toilet roll star for the top. I went for a tacky/OTT themed tree, and I love it.

Combined with the tree wonder, we walked outside this morning and there was a TRUCK across the road. Best. Morning. Ever. She's so easily pleased...

We've done our tree, it was hard work but it looks great!! We've got it sitting on a little table so Hannie can't touch it. She's been very good.
We're not spoiling Hannah this year for Christmas, she's still pretty little and won't understand.
We're getting her a little couch, Little People's Noah's Ark, a wooden walker thingy with blocks and an activity table.

For her birthday we're getting her some wooden blocks, a thingy that holds her toys in the bath, and 2 other toys which I can't remember. Damn you baby brain!!
Hannah is going well otherwise, pretty boring. She's nearly back to eating, after only having bottles for a week. So frustrating.
She's got a molar moving, too.

But apart from that, we've been pretty boring. I'm still here, just getting fat. 9+3w today and getting my blood results tomorrow (yeah, I was pretty lazy about going to the doctor. Got a bruise on my arm from the needle which I have to hide as no-one knows yet!). And my scan on the 15th at 10+5w.
We're getting it early as we don't care about testing for Down Syndrome, we just want to see a heartbeat. Besides, Hannah has yet ANOTHER audiology appointment on that day, so no-one will be suspicious about us going to town on a weekday.
Hannah's audio appt is just to check her level of hearing loss. When she had an audio appointment at RCH in.... April??? maybe, they said that one her ears may have up to 50% hearing loss in it. So, this is just to confirm whether there is or isn't.
