Going as good as can be here. Got a better nights sleep last night as we co slept. She did 9am to 2:30am then straight back down till 6:30 am. So that was nice. Still have to get used to her in the bed as never did that with J, but hey - whatever works.
Great to see you in here Holly! Hi Rainforest.

I really need to write my birth story. Will get around to it soon.

Welcome everyone! I am glad our little group is growing.

Miss Juliette is doing very well and seems to be feeding well just like her sister did. We have our visit to the MHCN tomorrow so I will be interested to see what she has to say. Although J is content to sleep in her basinette during the day for a couple of hours at a time she seems to be less settled at night. Maybe she has a bit of night and day confusion. She does seem to sleep better when she is in the bed with me so maybe she is just an advocate for attachment parenting

Nai - Seems like they all like to do that. I never thought that I would let a bub in bed with me, as J never did, but at the moment I will do whatever gives me a break.

Hi all just popping in quickly.

Shell - It's part and parcel of a newborn. I have been teary today as Emilia is unsettled, and listing to my own baby cry really upsets me.
Funny that Emilia was nearly Emily. Then we both would have had Emily Rose!!!

thanks for all your warm welcomes
well...my milk has come in, that's for sure!
my boobs are like two huge hard rock footballs. they are absolutely killing me. dh can't believe the size of them. it's making it quite hard to feed atm as he's having trouble getting the actual nipple in his mouth...oh well, just gotta get through this stage. hopefully it all settles down a bit in the next few days.
does anyone else's bubs seem really windy? jimmy seems to have a lot of wind pains. does anyone know what to do about it?

My milk has been starting to come in this arvo which is good. Emily was very unsettled last night but the midwives took her out so I could sleep, they said its normal til yr milk comes in. I felt I could've done with an extra night in hospy.

Rainforest- Maybe try bending his knees up and down, I used to do that with Ash, or try burping more often during feeds?

My milk has settled down now, and bliss! I slept on my stomach!! E was very unsettled today. She is the absolute mirror image of J so far. J would never day sleep without a lot of intervention from me. But he settled into night sleep within the first 4 weeks, only waking for 1 feed. I am hoping that E will be the same in the night.
E will only feed for about 15 mins and then won't feed any more. She also only feeds on one side. J wasn't like that. He would feed for hours.
Does that seem right? She is hungry all day (probably because she is only snacking) I will talk to the mchn about it on Wednesday.
Rainforest - J was quite windy as a bub, and I used to do the pump of legs as shell suggested, as well as massaging his stomach in a clockwise direction. You should speak to the mchn when you see her.

Emilia got her name as it was a toss up between Emily and Amelia. Emilia is the Italian version of Emily. Rose is DH's mum.

    Hi girls,

OceanPrincess, I did find the birth a bit stressful - mainly the car ride and making it to the birth suites (it's on the 5th level and down a million corridors - ridiculous!). I had a contraction while waiting for the elevator and everyone just stood back and made way for me! It was actually quite embarrassing.
Leon is back to his birth weight as well - it's such a good feeling knowing that he's getting plenty of milk.

Megie & Nai, I am really doing the 'whatever works' thing at the moment with sleeps. Leon loves sleeping in his snuggle bed though which is so good coz it's the only place besides on me that he will sleep - will not have a bar of the crib or hammock. He has started sleeping really well the last 2 nights, I'm putting it down to my milk coming in. He goes to sleep pretty much straight after a feed and then sleeps until the next feed, usually 2ish hours or he'll wake up sooner if he's done a nappy (he can't stand being in a wet/poopy nappy for even a second!). So really, he hardly has any wake time that's not feeding or burping/settling. Is this normal?

shellbell - I was really teary and emotional on day 3. Leon wouldn't sleep (hadn't tried the snuggle bed yet), I was so tired coz he was just attached to me and wouldn't settle unless on me. Boobs and bottom were (and still are) sore and together with no sleep and painful feeding I just cried and cried Feeling a lot better now though and I hope you are feeling a lot better tomorrow

Rainforest, not sure about wind pain, I hope it eases for little Jimmy. My boobs are so sore and hard and lumpy too. Last feed, Leon was due to feed on the right side but just would not attach which was unlike him, I think it might have been because the boob was so hard or possibly the smell/taste of cabbage So after trying for ages to attach and him getting so worked up I just stuck him on the left and he fed fine but now the right side is still so full that I'm scared of the next feed

Wow that was a big post! Had to quickly get on here before he wakes up and he's stirring now.

Hope everyone has a good night tonight

Megie, it is a mainly used for cosleeping and also as a portable bed. It's filled with tetra flakes...some sort of natural filling? Anyway, it's nice and snug and he sleeps so well in it It's small so can't be used for that long though.

eta...do a google search - it explains it so much better and shows pics

J was so unsettled last night - she fed constantly for 3 hours!! From 9.30pm - 12.30am and would not go to sleep GRRR! Finally we worked out that she was waking every time we turned OFF the light so we slept all night with the bedside lamp on She even slept 2.5hrs in her bassinette with the light on.

Rainforest - try some baby massage especially around the tummy area and also maybe some tummy time. I have found J brings up wind when she is on her belly.

Em was bit unsettled last night too, we were awake from 12:30 til just after 3, every time I thought she was asleep she'd wake crying. I wondered if tummy pain cause was different sort of cry and was pulling her legs up to her, after 3 poo changes and 2 feeds she finally slept.

Nai- Now you know the light trick hopefully you'll have a better night tonight.

Holly- makes you think after birth what a silly spot to locate a labour ward! The snuggle bed sounds good. we got em in bassinet so she's just in lounge in day and have it next to me at night.

Meg- So hard to work out the feeding isn't it, I was just wondering last night how long they should have on the breast I can't remember. I been trying to give one side 20mins then I change her to wake her for the next side and just see how long she goes on there.

Sometimes I feel like I'm a first time mum again with all this newborn stuff, I'd gotten use to having a toddler. Feel bit slack but there is gonna be lots of TV time for Ash in next few weeks til we settle into a pattern.

I am so with you Shell. I feel like I have forgotten everything, although so far, I am much more relaxed. You will have to bring the girls over here and we can let the toddlers run around and get my DH to look after them while we have a sit down.

Nai - maybe buy a nightlight, so that it isn't such a bright light on, but it is not pitch black.

Holly - the snuggle bed sounds good.

J is in childcare today. So it is just me and E at home today. I remember when I had J thinking that I would never cope at home by myself, and now i think with just 1 is so quiet!!!

Keep out of the wind all you Vic girls.

    Hi girls,

struggling a bit at the moment, DD has been very unsettled today, has not slept since about 7.30am for longer than half an hour. She was awake from 2.30am til 5am before that too.

She just seems so unhappy. She feeds, I try to burp her and put her down, but she screams almost straight away.

She's had a big vomit this morning (a massive amount - all down my clothes and to the floor) but she's still really unsettled. This is so difficult. How do I know what is wrong???

    I'm so tired...
