Just popping to in say hello!
'ello lovely ladies!
Pj- glad to see your doing good!
MelanieKate- at least your trying still! you can do it! i guess i'll sound like a nutter but..relax. take it easy and just let it happen. milk production is as much mental as is it physical! have you been into the breast feeding help and support part of the forum? that may help (its helped me the last 48hrs...)
Sterla - aww, im sure you'll be fine. i used the parentals room at the shops the other day...i think useing that will help build up confidsance. (even though its behind a curton..) i know i'm overly confadent with it after darrens stint in SCN - having several MW grabbing at by boobs trying to get him attached kinda takes the sting out of having 'em floped out! im glad to see oli's growing!
anthiea - Hello! glad to see your still around!
AFM: darren lost 10gs. my stupid MCHN made me feel like crud beucase of it. not to mention she made me freak out about the whole 'hydrated' caper over the weekend. she buggs me as i tried to point out i felt darren had grown longer (hes not a been pole...) and i tried to find out if the fact he is a strong little vegimite would have some kind of affecton waight gain. but she brushed it off as "thats not really applicable" for both :wall: but i got my own back X2! she told me if he didnt put on waight (im going to a b/f clinic thursday..) that we'd have to put him on formular. which made me cry...whilest darren was feeding and she goes "oh we better just take him off..." and i snaped at her and told her not to tuch him. she tried again and i said "JUST LEAVE HIM hes fine" which made her pull her head in. then when we talked about settleing him she told me to swaddle him, roll him on his side and stand at his back and pat it so he's settled and i turned around and said "thats just crule! i understand not looking at him...but not allowing him to see me? THATS WRONG. and far, far too much like the toby king methord!" she told me it was NOTHING like it. when i said "not much differance in the cold comfort of a blank wall or a swaddle is there?" but im feeling much better today. i feed him if he looks side ways at me. im waking him for feeds every 2.5 hrs (cus it takes half an hour to settle him) and he seems better for it! but he had his 'awake' time from 2:20pm untill 5 pm with three feeds in there (he seemed hugry and i wasnt going to make him wait!)
Ooo speaking of darren and sleeping...hes awake...im thinking wet nappy and dads settleing skills! hehe. chris will get better im sure ;)
Hi Ladies, my name is michelle and became a 1st time mum to my baby girl Anastasia born on 1st feb weighing 3.5kgs.
I have been looking for a forum of mums with bubs around the same age as i am the only one in my circle of friends that has a baby so no one really understands what its like!
The first 4 weeks were great with bub but she seems to have Reflux, we have the awful times during the day where she just wont settle and seems to be in so much pain... have started her on Zantac so hopefully this will help. Anyone else experiencing these problems?
1pj - Try the co- sleeping - it is a bit scary at first but you get used to where the baby is.
Melanie Kate - Have you tried talking to someone about the bf probs you are having at all? I think you can call the Aust BF assoc counsellors without having to be a member. Also perhaps your child health clinic has a breastfeeding help part - I know ours does. Don't give up hope yet - do some research on improving milk supply.
Sterla - cool that our bubs share a birthday. Cheeky little monkey's to come on Friday the 13th.
Blip - go with your instinct I reckon - it seems to me that every nurse type person has their own ideas about what you should and shouldn't do when it comes to bf. 10g is nothing and could be the calibration on the scales!
MKart - thats no good about the reflux! Hope it gets better.
As for Us - We went to the baby clinic yesterday just for a chat and a weigh. Harris has put on 600g since his birth which is great. The nurse there was great to talk to and gave me some tips about signs of overtiredness.
I bought Harris a baba sling today so that I can be more hands free around thehouse. I still haven't qite got it worked out yet - he doesn't like being in it to sleep in the cradle position. He is sleeping on me upright though which is good enough. We will see how it goes!
melaniekate-Is Lachlan settling now hes on formula? Please Stop being so hard on yourself!!!I am having the same issues and i feel soon i may have to totally formual feed, but you know what?after beating myself up ages i suddenly thought, well everyones different and sometimes you have to do whats best for you!!!For peace,or sanity or for bubs,if mine hasnt gained any this week i will have no choice and feel what do i do?let her go hungry or not?i just not sure if her unsettling issues is hunger or not!!??But I think Bfing for any amount of time is better than none!Hang in there!I am also trying to persevere with the BFing but if i cant i cant,i just cant keep worrying if bubs is getting enough,i may also contact the BFA.
sterla-Glad things are going well,i too have trouble feeding in public, its hard to get the hang of,i did it today and sorta got there!
Mkart86-HI!Sorry your bubs has been in pain its heartbreaking watching,im not sure to be honest but ive been worried lately as My bub has had a few high pithced screaming episodes lately and an older lady friend of mine feels she has colic or reflux,(or shes still hungry)can i ask how you know?I feel i would see it!
blip-Thats awful!Talk about put you off seeing those ladies!!This is my problem with the BFing too,she doesnt seem to be putting on much wieght and everyones telling me to formula feed its frustrating i just dont know what to do!
Andjxx-Can i ask what they said the signs of overtiredness were?I feel she has a feed at times then is awake for ages so then starts to get grissly then ends up really crying untill i finally get her to sleep! Its just someone told me that newborns dont get "overtired"so it must be colic or that shes still hungry!!
well we had a better night but we went shopping today and she just screamed i almost came home but eventually she settled,im not sure whats up,i feel she gets overtired but others have said maybe colic or still hungry.she seems to sleep when she finally gives in i mean surely if she still hungry or in pain shed still cry not go to sleep???sure wish theyd tell us!
sorry me again,i tried to edit but the computers gone nuts!!
Andjxx-do you mind me asking what they said the signs of overtiredness were? Its just i was told today that newborns dont get "overtired".Its just she has a feed then is awake for quite a while then gets grissly then really crys until i get her to sleep and i was told no it must be colic or shes still hungry.
oh my goodness, look what its done now!!!ARGH!!!!sorry ladies!!
moring ladies!
pj- i think some one in the bellybuddies put it really well with bfing - 'when in doubt whip it out!' i've gone back to that (ignoreing the MCHN ;) ) and it helps darren...mind you he's asleep on my chest atm! im going to a bf clinic at the hossy in a few hours, so i'll post 'bout it for you! as for tired signs yawns and the rubbing of the eyes are the first ones.
i'll update on mineself and darren later!
Good morning ladies! :D
I'm feeling really good today. I feel like I'm getting into the swing of motherhood - feeling a lot more relaxed and confident with everything.
:welcome: Hi Michelle - welcome to the group! :) Sorry to hear your bub has reflux. I hope things settle down soon.
Andjxx: That's fantastic that Harris is putting on so much weight! It's nice to find out how much our bubs are putting on! Oliver had put on almost 500g since birth at our last check-up. Getting those tips on over tiredness must have been great! Do share :).
1PJ: Oh, I know what you mean about wanting to go home when bub screams in public. I'm not so nervous about it now, but I remember the first few times I went out with Oliver I was really nervous about him starting to cry and me not being able to settle him - something about having an audience with your new and developing parenting skills.
Antheia: Glad you're still about. How is Orson doing?
Blip: That sucks that you've had such a long and confusing/contradicting time with the MCHN, etc. I think the "If in doubt, whip it out" idea is great. Our bubs know when they're hungry! And if it helps Darren to settle, why not? Congrats on the RAK! I suppose you'll get an avvy soon - that must be exciting! :D
AFM: Oliver has been feeding and sleeping really well the last couple of days. He was doing crazy-cluster feeds of an evening/night where I felt like I was feeding him non-stop for a few hours... but I think he was just trying to trigger more milk - cause he's not doing it anymore and seems to be getting plenty of milk each feed. I'm still using the nipple shield though... I think I'm getting too comfortable with it - I need to start trying harder to wean us both off it.
Hope everyone is doing well :D.
Hi Girls
Here is the list the nurse gave me, it is for Babie aged 0 - 6months
Tiredness - General
- Jerky movements
-facial grimacing
-clenching fists
-frowning
-grizzly
-Yawning
- a lull in activity
- staring off
- Calmness
-Becoming generally quieter
-Sucking
Overtiredness
- Irritable
- Tense
- Arching
- Fighting sleep (falls asleep in arms then wakes when put to bed)
- Fusses on Breast or bottle
- Crying as if in pain - loud, distressed
- Short sleeps (cat naps of less than 1 hour)
- Looks Tired
- Startles easily
All these are well and good but, what to do when you have an over tored baby who just wont settle! I'm still trying to figure that one out. I think Harris gets overtired very quickly.
The nurse recommended the baby only be awake for an hour at a time - including feeding - and that the baby should always be settled in the same place and manner i.e in their room, calm quiet environment, dim lights etc - It's not always practical though is it?
We had a bad night last night - HArris had a great deal of sleep during the day and just would not settle after his last feed. Unfortunately I get irritable and angry when he is like that at night. He probably picks up on that too. Had a bit o a cry to husband last night because I miss my friends in Brisbane who all have small babies and I get very bored at home. It just feels like there is no purpose to each day (apart from feeding and calming Harris) and then when I'm not looking after him it's all house work - makes for a boring life!
laura133 - Thanks Chicky, how is Bella doing?
baby_blip - Why can't MCHN get their stories right? Always telling us one thing at an appointment and then something completely different at the next appointment. How is Darren doing?
sydney moose - Hows Sammy doing? She sounds like a good feeder. I was getting 8+ heavily wet nappies!
Cyathea - How's Marley? You sound like you know what your doing! How are you feeling?
Will be back later to finish of personals need to feed lach!
#37
hi all! im so glad to hear that everyone is going so well! especially all you first time mummys! dont have time to write much. just want to know if anyone else is expressing? i expressed 120ml off one side today and bella drank that with no worries.. how much do babies usually drink per feed?
I haven't been expressing, but have been quite curious as to how much DS is getting. He's obviously getting enough as he's satisfied after a feed, has plenty of wet and dirty nappies and is putting on weight... still, I'm interested in how much he's getting.
Laura: I just noticed your Bella is another Friday 13th bub! There's a few here! :D
moring ladies!
sterla- glad olivers doing well & putting on waight! as for the nipple sheald - try taking it off at the end of the feed. thats what the LC told me yesterday...that way they're nice and relaxed and should (as a guesstimate) go back on.
andjxx- fed, settled in an hour :omg: how the hell do you do that. darren takes an hour to feed! as for always settleing in the same place, im sure i could lug my couch to the shops  i understand how you feel getting frustraited late at night, i know i do. esp. when my DH chris is 'too tired' after a day at work...and feeling like you dont have any friends. i can also relate to that. you'll get there!!
laura133 - i know that if you want (at this stage) bubs to sleep for 4hrs they need 90mls. and for three hours its 80ml. (mind you 90ml is more nursry and rather un-realistic!)
AFM- darren has toung tie (not bad though) and bad reflux. from what that LC told me yesterday, that is the main reason for the waight loss. he throws up half his food! so im ment to express after each feed (and still one boob a feed :wall: ...i think not!) and im going to my GP tomorrow to get something for the reflux, so that he can keep his food down, but the LC also told me to 'hold him up right' for 20mins half an hour after a feed. she also told me to get a bouncer for him so he can sit up right and i can have my 'own time' (which i didnt like...i like having darren with me all the time!) but going to the hossy LC was FUN. it was the first time i'd gone out with darren AND the pram...with rain clouds looming! i managed to get the pram all set up darren was hungry (had been for half an hour) so i thought "stuff this" and started to feed him. so i walked around the hossy bfing darren..the then LC told me i should have waited and i potined out that i had NO IDEA where i was going and i wasnt going to have a screaming babie. but towards the end of the appt she told me he has toung tie and reflux. i go back next wednesday (at the same time, so i have to feed him at 7am!) and my MCHN needs a kick in the...face. she called me on wednesday and asked if i wanted her to come over and waigh darren..when i said no. i felt pritty good about the feeds we where having and just really good within myself feeling like i was getting there - she said "it seems like im more worried about this then you" but im ok with that now. darrens put on 20g. so im happy. plus the LC told me that the MCHN got it wrong with the waights, he orgianly lost 80g. not 100g. i know its only 20g differance...but i feel SO MUCH better!
any one else found that now *every time* they hear a baby cry if their bub is down they go running to check on them? chris laughs at me when i do it!
Hi Hot momma's!
Hows everyone? Today is the first day for mum and Sammy on their own as DH has gone back to work this morning. AS much as I was ready to have hom go back to work, its actually been quite nice to have the whole house to myself (well almost!!) and I am enjoying my first day as a stay at home mum! Sammy has been good, a bit fussy over the breast sometimes but usually, its because she needs to be changed ( she doesn't like to feed with a dirty nappy, how very ladylike!) but all and all, she is doing well and settling really well.
Blip: I can see your frustration with the MCHN, is there perhaps another one you can consult with or is she the only one? How much weight has Darren put on/lost since he has been out of hospital? I;m glad he has started to put on weight, I'm sure he'll fatten up in no time! I think your LC had a point though. I;ve got a bouncer and Sammy is almost able to fit into it now but I agree with your LC (and I know you may not want to hear this),but it is important that you do get a bit of time to yourself (even if its for 5 minutes) mummy matters too, its not about being selfish either, its about balance, but you do what feels right sweetie.
Sterla: Glad to see Oli is doing well and has been a good baby. As for BF in public, I;ve done it in the car a couple times in the back seat in the Mall parking lot. That can be an option for you if you feel a bit intimidated but the nursing rooms are great at my mall, a nice curtain and bench, not sure what they are like in Tassie. In the end though, if Oliver is hungry and you have to feed him in public, just don't worry about it and if some people stare at you or give you dirty looks, well let them stare or ask them if they'd rather have hear screaming baby, its all very natural and the bub usually covers 90% of the breast. It will get better the more you do it.
Melanie Kate: hows it all going? If you are wetting all these wet nappies AND putting on weight, I dsare say your little buba is doing just fine!
Andjxx: 600 gr is great!! I usually get Sammy fed and asleep within 1.25 hours, apart from her 2 "witching" hours which usually is from 10:30am-11am til about midday and dinner time til about 7pm but some days are better than others. Although there was 3-4 days over a week ago where she turned into a lil fuss-pot and wouldn't sleep for ages. I hope Harris settles a bit for you and gives mummy a bit of sleeping time at night soon. Is Harris sleeping more than 3 to 3.5 hours during the day in one sleep?
1pj: I wish they could tell us too, but then we wouldn't all be on here rattling on about what we THINK they are telling us eh? :P I hate it when Sammy starts creaming in public too, makes me feel a like a bad mum even though I know I am not. I'm sure we'll all get better and more confident as we go along.
Hi to everyone else I missed...One more question from me, where can I find a free baby ticker??? CAn anyone tell me?
My little princess is about to wake and I need to put the washing out first so better get going :)
Hope everyone has a fantastic day!
moose: click on mine and a website pops up! i know i need me time - thus darren is sleeping on the couch now (doing a very cute attempt at catching flys!)but i like being with him (he sleeps in bed with me!) plus with all thats happend with him i find its better for me to have him near me becuase that way i know he's ok...and i know hes warm after it went from being 30+deg to 18 in the space of 24hrs lol. your lucky with sammy she only has 2 witching hours - darren is 'witchy' from 5pm-9pm normaly...then up again at 11:30pm- midnight so feeds can finish at 1:30am (with all this issues with feeds!) darrens birth waight was 7 pund 14oz. hes now 8 pound 2oz (which isnt huge...but its SOMETHING  ) hopefully it'll be uphill from here!
Morning ladies.
Blip: Sorry you're having such a hard run with all these 'professionals'. I'm glad Darren is putting on some weight though :). I know what you mean about taking a while to feed. For me to give Oliver a proper feed (usually with a couple of nappy changes and burping sessions in between) takes at least an hour if not longer. He feeds really well for the first 10 minutes or so, but then he slows down and often gets distracted or sleepy, so I need to change him or burp him to wake him up. Plus, I think he gets so much milk in those first 10 minutes that he probably starts thinking he's full! :D
Moose: Glad you're enjoying your first day by yourself (sort of). My DH has gone back to work this week, but just for half days. Next week he's back full time though. I ended up sort of feeding Oliver in public yesterday. We were shopping, and just as we got to the check-out he woke up and really, really wanted a feed. He was crying and crying - so I left DH to deal with the groceries, and I went back to the car and fed him in the car. I haven't tried a mother's room yet - I will though.
How is everyone going with bathing their bubs? I still get a bit nervous doing it. We gave Oliver a bath last night, and he seemed to really enjoy it! He was calm the entire time - didn't fuss at all, and it actually seemed to calm him a bit. How does everyone's bubs enjoy (or not) their baths?
Hope everyone is doing well.
Sammy LOVES bath time as does Daddy too! The counter we bathe her on is a bit tall for me so its not the best position but Sammy has never even whimpered when we put her in the bath, she loves having a washer over her and we move her from one end of the bath to the other and she even pushes herself off sometimes (with a little help!!)
1st day still going great, went for a lovely walk and some grocery shopping which is when Sammy woke up and got very cranky, thank goodness, I only live 1 minute from the shops, so we rushed home, had a feed and she went back to sleep. It's time for mummy nap now I think too!
ok she is awake, no nap for mum just yet!
Afternoon all,
Lachlan loves his baths/showers as long as I'm with him!

MelanieKate: Love your new avvy! :bluecheer: That's fantastic that Lachlan is doing so well! :D
Congrats MelanieKate and yay for Lachlan!!!
I worked out my new ticker
sterla - darren LOVED his bath in hossy. at home. not so much, so im thinking next week i'm going to run a big bath and have one with him (he needs one in the mean time...but when i have my time while chris is at work)
moose: yay for going shopping! well done on gettin out the house! darren wont go in his pram (it has a bassent thingy to go with it) unless he's alseep...like...fully alseep or full as goog on food!
MelanieKate: woohoo your lad is growing!
Top o' the morning to you ladies!
Blip: bummer about Darren not wanting to go in his pram, maybe put him in and then get moving, Sam will whinge until I get rollin and the movement kinda settles her, same thing with the car capsule. Once he gets bigger, you can get a baby Bjorn or get yourself a sling, this way you can still do stuff.
Alrighty, off to have a shower and then tidy up the house. Am really starting to enjoy this not working thing!!
Hope everyone has a fantastic week-end full of well fed & settled babies
Stupid question for 2nd time mums....you know when you dress the bubs and its not hot hot, but is a nice 23-25C with a nice breeze, would you keep the singlet under the clothes? I find they bunch up and JB gets hot in it. I can see in winter where you would want the singlet as a double layer but what about summer?!?!?
Hey girls!!! I haven't been on BB much these days and when I am, I'm in the BFing threads as I've had some BFing issues I've had to work through.... it's been full on!
But Ava and I are getting there.... hopefully soon I'll be a pro!! Still expressing for top up feeds and if I don't have enough EBM to give her, I use formula. We have had the help of a Lactation Consultant who has been fantastic support and advice. Wish I'd done it when I left hospital rather than wait 2 weeks. My R nipple has only just healed it was very damaged and painful, i would cry every time she got on and I'm pretty good with pain normally.
Ava loves her tummy time each day and her bath time.... we make it really fun and we sing to her while she's in the bath and she loves it. We pour water over her head too as a MW told us to do that from day 1. Get her used to it and when she starts swimming school hopefully at 4mths she won't be too scared of water.
Baby Blip - how are things with feeding going? I know you've had a few problems aswell.... do you find it's gotten easier the last 2 weeks? I feel each week does get easier.
Sterla - love your new ticker!!! I love mine too! sounds like your little guy is getting fed well and BFing is going well for you... keep up the great work. I'm a bit envious cos' its' been so hard for us here with the whole BFing thing.... but we are getting there. Expressing is so time consuming so if you can avoid it, then avoid it! I have to express after each feed for top ups.
Ava was slow to gain weight and lost some weight, gained, then lost etc due to feeding issues. On Monday, she was 3.78kg and yesterday..... 4.11kg!!!!! :cheer: WOOT!! She's gained so much..... YAY. Such a petite little 8pounder. She's still in size 0000!
:grouphug: big hugs to you all and your bubs! My little girl is 5wks tomorrow!!!! OMG it goes too fast..........
hello hello hello! i promise to do a proper post and get involved in conversation with everyone soon! just letting u know i am lurking and reading everyones posts!
Welcome Renstar! I love your new avvy! :D I've been stalking a few of your breastfeeding threads. Sorry that it's been so tough for you - I'm sure you'll get there. I've been relatively lucky with b/f, except for my silly flat nipples. I've been using a nipple shield to help with that, but am worried that I (and Oliver) are getting a bit too attached to them. I really need to start making more of an effort to wean us from them.
That's fantastic with Ava's weight gain! :cheer:
Not much news from me today. Oliver and I are just cruising along. We have a check-up on Tuesday - can't wait to see how much he's gained!
ello my lovies! miss me ;-)
Moose: its funny but i've tired darren in a moving pram and he's too alert for his own good, he cant see whats happening so he HATES it! haha. as for the car, he can see light moving so rearly falls alseep in the car. but i did *just* put him in his bouncer 'cus i had to pee, he semi woke up i put his dummy in and Bang, he's a sleep! hehe so i get some BB time now!
ren - im glad your little 8lb'er is going well ;) i've found that a) throwing ANY clock out the widow has helped and doing what I feel is best because dispite being told his has toung tie (which im starting to really doubt, as he put on 120G before i put him on the bottle!) he's getting there. but i find out tomorrow! i've been following your thread in the BF support and you're doing so, so well keep it up!
sterla - thank-you for the comment about my avi, i only just saw it. i've had the last few days as 'darren days' where all i do i eat, sleep and feed him. and i've found it much better! im with you with the flat nipples, the LC i saw told me to feed with them, but at/toward the end of the feed take it off so you're both relaxed and see how it goes. i've done this and darren gets two/three sucks then gets annoied lol so it goes back on! but its getting there!!
afm: sorry i havent been around. i've been working on fattening my little light bulb (darren) up! and i think its working. i also went to the GP about his refulx and got some stuff for it (it tastes horrable!) which is helping. i see my (evil) MCHN tomorrow, this time im demanding she meusre him, not just waigh him. and if he's gained then i'm going to shove it in her face MY WAY worked, not hers! and wednesday i see the LC again, hopefully to prove that darren dosent have toung tie, and that hes just a lazy little sucker! but i feel good about things and i intend on staying this way. so i hope it all goes well tomorrow and i dont end up screaming at the MCHN...cus she's really...stupid! haha
Ooo darrens up, better go feed him!
Hope you're all doing well!
Hi Blip! Sounds like you're doing what feels right for you and for Darren, which I think is the best thing for any mum. I hope Darren has put on lots of weight! We have a check-up tomorrow - I'm quite interested to see how much weight Oliver has put on, cause I can already see new fat rolls popping up everywhere - and he's almost outgrown his 0000 clothes!
Yeah, I love your new avvy - there are so many fantastic new ones popping up everywhere.
I did one attempt at feeding without the nipple shield today, but it didn't last long :(. I don't know if it was Oliver not attaching correctly, or just because my nipple was already a bit damaged - but it hurt so bad, and I could see where it was becoming more damaged almost straight away. *sigh* Oh well, I'll try again tomorrow.
Oliver is having a very sleepy day today. He's been sleeping almost all day, apart from waking for feeds and when we went to the supermarket earlier on. Hopefully he's sleeping lots while he's growing! :)
How is everyone else doing?
sterla - aww :( you'll get there! maybe see if you can see a LC at the local hossy? thats where i see mine? i'd say oli would be growing. as my evil MCHN says "babies need to sleep to grow" im glad he's out of his 0000's! thats one thing i missed out on. darren went strait into 000's!
went to the evil MCHN today. he's put on 60g since last thursday! (or 85g since last she saw him last week) and with that i promtly told her "well i've thrown your rutein out the window and started our own rythem. he's up for 2hrs asleep for 2. it works for us. he's happy, im happy neather of us are stressed!" she told me off for not giving him EBM at each feed (hello, i use BOTH SIDES NOW!) and i told her i'd rather give him ALL i have, then risk having my supply drop. she was happy he'd put on something, i was extatic. he's also grown 1.5cm in 4 weeks (i dont care if thats good or bad...) i'm happy that things are going right...but she made one comment that i almost walked out of her office for. i told her i was following what darren wanted...she told me that i was the adult and had to set the rules and i said "hes the baby going on instinct, im a mother trying to find and follow mine. he knows better then i do" she didnt like it. sorry to her but sometimes books are useless...and i dont think she liked the fact i'd igored what she'd told me to do ehehe...but its working...if it wasnt then i'd start doing more of what she said...but...to me what she told me...it was far, far too regimented for such a small baby. but thats just me and im most likely too much of a softie for what its worth!
Anyone else had hi-powered poo that explodes out the sides of the nappy or up the back? darrens started doing this...its so amuseing but soo bad...
Had a check-up this afternoon. Oliver has put on 540g in the past 8 days, and has grown 1cm in length! One happy, proud mama here! :D
:bluecheer: Go Blip Go! :bluecheer:
How are you other lovely mummies doing?
WOW Sterla thats awesome! Sammy has put on 380gr in 2 weeks since we last saw the nurse, so we are happy with that too.
Blip: Thats encouraging love, hang in there, Darren will fatten up in no time!
Mxx
Hey all
Lachlan is feeding like a trooper now that i know how much he is getting!!!!
We have a mchn appointment this arvo so will see how much he has put on in 5 days!
so excited we get to pick up MY new car this week!!!
sterla : :jawdrop: thats an effort! glad to see oli's putting on the waight! have you been told that if you find the nipple sheald is slipping off to use lansnoh? (its in a purple tube) it helps HEAPS the LC told me that today...and no slipping sheald! (plus it helps if you have dry nipples too!)
Moose: woo thats fantasic your little sammy is gaining too! every ones bubs are getting bigger!
MelanieKate: oo i'll be interested to see how your man goes, what kind of car are you getting?
AFM: went to the LC today. he DOES have a postior toung tie, but its not as bad as the last LC told me :wall: got a smaller nipple sheald aaaaaaaaand darren got waighed...and guess what?
yesterday he put on 80g in a week yeah?... well 24 hrs later..ANOTHER 100g!! yes, myself and the LC checked on THREE scales..and 100g as been put on...after a poo and three piddles! i almost cried i was so happy! she told me that witht he sheald that he feeds longer/more often and to express after each feed to help the milk supply and so i can freeze some if i need/want a brake its there for DH or some one to feed. she told me i've done the hard yards and that i was RIGHT to listen to what darren wanted, even if its not 'normal' but im SOO happy. i go back saterday to check its not a fluke...but...this lady was fantastic and supported me in my ideas. we even tired to feed laying down, but darren gets freaked out by that  my boobs dont feel the same when im laying down!
i'm off to do some celabratory landry!
YAY Blip, wow, 100g in one day! Thats awesome, good on you for sticking to your guns. I am really pleased it has paid off for you and Darren. Well done mummy!
MelanieKate: Hope you get good news too for Lachlan! and congrats on getting a new car too. WOOT WOOT!
MelanieKate: That's fantastic that Lachlan is feeding so well. I bet he'll have put on heaps! Yay about getting your new car. What kind are getting?
Blip: That is awesome that Darren put that much weight on! Well done team blip! I'm so happy that you've finally had a positive experience with the LC! I can imagine feeling the need to weigh Darren three times - 100g in 24 hours after poos and piddles is amazing! Well done!
Moose: Sounds like Sammy is gaining really well :).
AFM: Quite a busy, eventful day for us. My mum took Oliver and I into town where we met my DH. DH and I went to our bank for an appointment while my mum took Oliver for a walk to her work to show him off! DH and I had the appointment to find out how ready we are to buy our first house - and it's looking really good! :D We should be able buy a house this year some time! It will be so good to get out of renting! After we left that appointment I realised that my left breast had been leaking and had somehow soaked through the nursing pad, my bra and the top I was wearing! So, there I was in the middle of the city with a big wet patch on my boob,,, so embarrassing! We found my mum and Oliver, and Oliver was ready for a feed, so I did my first public breastfeed (sort of) in a mothers room. Another mum came in with her 7 week old son. We chatted a bit... she expresses and then feeds her bub. I'm a bit self-conscious about the fact that I use nipple shields, so seeing another mum feeding in her own way made me feel good - made me realise that we just all do what's best for us and our bubs, whatever that may be.
And now, we're off to my parent's place for tea.
How are you other mums and bubs doing?
Lach only put on 90g in 5 days! should be more!!!
I'm getting a 2005 ford territory
7 seater
Moose: thank-you
sterla : well done on the 'public' b/f! i know the feeling about leaking - its happend to me too! but at least you know you and oli are in tune with each other! its good you could talk to the women in the parentals room, both your self and her are doing the best you can with feeding bubs...no matter how its done!
AFM: darren was a little gass worm last night. poor thing. better thismoring. he had a good feed...we manged to do a feed laying down so i was happy about that. we even managed to get out of the house - i went and printed some photos off, now i just need an album for all the photos...includeing all the belly photos i have (which i have to print off!) any one else looked back on belly photos (if you took them) and go "was i that big?" i know i have been!
We're a bit quiet aren't we? Well, we are all busy new mummies! :D
How is everyone going? I hope all you mummies and bubs are doing well. Oliver is having a decent sleep at the moment, so I've been catching up on a bit of housework and (more importantly ;)) on BB! Today has been my first full day home alone with Oliver. Because I had a c/s I've had DH home to help out (started off full days, then half days), and my mum took last week off to help out too - but today was just Oliver and me, and I think we did okay :D. I'm sure I'll be used to it very soon! Still, it was so nice having my DH and then my mum home with me for the company.
I'm pretty sure Oliver has started smiling - well, he may have been for awhile, but I wasn't sure if it was wind or genuine smiles. I'm convinced now that they're real smiles, cause he tends to do it a lot when DH and I are talking and playing with him. He's also started doing lots of coos - kind of like he's talking to us! So cute - my insides melt! :D
Blip: I hope Darren's wind settled down. It's so hard when they have trapped wind, cause all you can really do is wait it out with them. Well done on the lying-down feed! I wish I could work out how to feed in other positions, but for now I'm pretty stuck with the 'football hold'. It's the only position that seems to work with my silly, enormous bbs.
MelanieKate: I hope Lachlan's feeding is continuing to go well. I'm sure he'll be gaining big numbers very soon! How's the new car?
Sorry this has ended up so long - BB withdrawal has caused me to go overboard with my update! Woops!
Sterla: you have nothing on me re: long posts!! I am so glad Oliver is well and you will get used to being alone with him. I love my time with Sammy. You get into a little routine and before you know it, the day is over ( like today)
AFM, Sammy has been sleeping for....wait for it...8 HOURS~! YAY!~ That has been the last 2 nights only mind you but we have been putting her in bed around 7 to 7:30 and been giving her a dreamfeed ( feeding whilst she's sleeping) and she stirred at 4am and woke up at 5:45am this morning. Unfortunately, my boobs have not yet adjusted to that and I;ve been leaking and getting very sore boobs by 4am but that should settle in a day or 2. Other than that, Sammy is just an angel, I am soo lucky. She gets her fuss-pot moments, especially when its hot & humid. but I really can't complain. I also did my first BF in public, as outdoor on a bench at the playground in the middle of Manly! I was so proud of myself. I have a BF top which allows me to be very discreet and you can hardly see anything.
Hope everyone else is doing great, give us some news!
Back to dinner prep!
