Moose: :o Wow with the 8 hour sleeps!!! I haven't slept 8 hours since - well, I can't remember actually! Probably since sometime earlier in my pregnancy before my bladder became non-existent! Sammy must be such a good sleeper :D. Oliver sleeps well at night, but during the day he just seems to want to be awake all the time - I think there's just too much to see.
Well done on your public b/f!
MelanieKate: That's fantastic about Lachlan feeding so well! Enjoy your new car :).
Well, I'm off to feed Oliver, and then hopefully fit a shower in - I stink!!! :p
'ello my lovies!
Sterla - the laying down feed has worked a whole three times LOL...but for one of them i fell alseep whoops so i have no idea how long i was 'feeding' darren for! i tried that football hold while in SCN..but i swear my nipples point DOWN lol so its kidna hard for both of us heh. well done on your first day home alone with Oli! it's funny how fast the days seem to go when its just the two of you isnt it? as for the wind it is hard, infants friend is a god send! (when we give it to him at the right time haha)
Moose & sterla - you ladies think you guys have long posts! ;)
Moose:  on the public BF! luck you've got b'f tops! i have over sized ones and even then "discreet" is next to impossable with a detachable nipple (also known as a nipple sheald!) im glad sammy is sleeping through the night for you - if you want to ease the sore boobs try expressing a little then do boob compression (as in massarge the boob but not stimulate the nipple) and it should help things along, i did it once when darren came out of SCN and it settled down my milk supply real fast!
MelanieKate: WOW you do have a hungry hungry little one dont you? glad he's doing well! getting used to driving a bigger car now?
AFM: darren and i had a rough night last night with wind, the poor little might. hes finaly alseep now..he's been over stimulated i think from everything! i guess it means his sight is getting better? i find out tomorrow how much wight he's gained. i feel better after seeing the LC last week, she said that 100g a week waight gain in BF babies is good, rather then the 150g that the MCHN told me :wall:. next week that should be cleared up becuase darren's getting a toung tie relase (cut) at a local doctor. the LC i saw saterday looked at it and told me if i had of been the the Roal Womens Hostpital she could have cut it but cus she was at my local hostpital she cant :( but this GP we're going to is known as "Dr Snip-it" as it cuts toung ties and versecimys i had my 6 week check up today and im doing good! my doctor told me i'd lost waight and i said "you only saw me Once before i got pregers...so you dont know what i look like when im not!" darren has also found out how to 'talk' or rather go "dawwwwwww" or "raaaaw" or some times "nah--nah..nooooo" (which i swear is him saying 'no' ) Ohh and he takes after his daddy - his farts are well timed - always whilest sitting on my knee and his burps always when im face to face with him! Ohh and if any one is worried about their milk supply try drinking RLT i was..i had one cup last night and this moring after i fed darren i got 50ml from one side (the second side offerd) plus leak-age from the other side!
I better go eat some lunch before darren wakes up!
went to the MCHN. Darren has put on 180g! (since she last saw him) or just over 50g since saterday! which im stoked about. he's been sleeping alot the last few days...and has grown (i asked her to do it for my own good along with a way-in) its funny 'becuase he still fits into 000's but he's getting a little too tall for them (getting tigher from sholders to feet) but still has room to fill out in them!
i got the LC tomorrow to check how darrens attaching. i could call and cancel it but i want to talk to her more about the toung tie, and how it happens and hopefully go over how to attach darren without a nipple sheald! plus i also want to find out if i have to give him any pandol before it as well...
i better go - darrens waking up!
Hi girls! i am finally back on the internet at home! I don't have time to look back at all the posts so could everyone give me a run down of all the bubs names and dates of birth? Would love to know.
If anyone doesn't know, Orson was born on Valentine's day! It was a quick birth, 2 hours, so intense. Will have to write up my birth story soon.
Things have been up and down. Breastfeeding is going great but i have had to start topping Orson up with formula after breastfeeds since yesterday as he has lost 610g since birth and now only weighs 3470g, not good. Hopfully he starts gaining and we can cut down the formula top ups. He was feeding every 4 hours but i have had to start waking him every 2 hours just fill him up and also increase my milk supply and he isnt liking it cause he keeps falling asleep at the boob! Going to have to fine a way around that so he is getting the milk he need.
Anyway that's us for now...so glad to be back!
Hi Antheia! Great that you're back! :D Orson must be 5 weeks tomorrow (he was born a day after Oliver). I hope the feeding sorts itself out.
Here's my update Antheia: My DS Oliver Thomas Eldrup was born on 13th Feb at 12.34am by emergency c/s (due to fetal distress). At birth he was 3.035kg and 50cm long - but he's much bigger now! I've been breastfeeding using a nipple shield, and Oliver has been gaining really, really well (he put on 540g in 8 days at our last check-up!). I've posted a birth story too which is there if you want to check it out :). Your birth story should be a very interesting read from the little bits I've heard!
New news from me... Oliver is 5 weeks today . I can't believe how quickly that time has passed.
I've been experimenting with my breastfeeding a bit. I'd been doing the football hold all the time since I'd left the hospital as it's been the easiest position for me, but today I tried the 'normal' hold and it actually worked! I'm glad I can do it, cause it will make b/f out and about much easier.
How is everyone else doing?

Sterla, love Oliver's name. I hear you on the football hold being so much easier. Especially since Orson's head is so heavy lol. Its so tiring laying on my arm.
Gotta get me a new avatar too!
Thanks for that list Laura! :)
thats fantasic work Laura! Darren was a PM baby!
Anthiea: Yay glad your back! quicky update on darren: born Feb7th. Waight 7 pound 15oz. ended up in SCN for 5 days due to respiroty distress (was with me for 22hrs) then he lost waight (put on 120g in 2 days then lost 80g in a week) has since put it back on. he's also go toung tie...which is getting 'the snip' on friday! sounds like Orson is like darren very sleepy...have you tired getting a spray bottle and putting cool water in it and spraying his belly to wake him up? helped with darrens sleepyness or a cool face washer...
AFM: darrens smileing more! i got some on video! last night was bad with wind, my LC told me to "keep giving him EBM or BF him if possable" she also gave me a "specal needs' teat for him as well, so i have some control over the flow PLUS the amount of air darren gets from it isnt that bad...who ever said "dont cry over spilt milk" was a man i had ebm and spilt it...i almost cried!!...i ..saw my BIL&SIL today. reminded me WHY i dont like 'em :wall: ahh well...wont see them untill december now!
Woo i gotta go feed dazmand
I finally wrote my birth story. Here it is.. https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ml#post1715685

My birth story.
Anthiea your story was amazing. i wish i was as strong as you to have a homebirth
Hiya hot mumma's!
Just a quick update from me as I am up in Brisvegas for the rest of the week. Antheia, what an amazing story.
My little girl is named Samantha Joan Bea, as you can see we kept her middle name JB as we already had Joan ( DH's nan) and we thought Bea was really cute and kept the JB that everyone knew her by when I was pregnant. I will be writing my birth story very soon.
Hope everyone is well but DH and I went to a wedding on Saturday night and Sammy was in the hotel across from the function with nana and was a really good girl. It was soo good to be out and about and let our hair down. I had left a EBM feed with nana so I could have a few drinks. I highly recommend it. If you have someone that can look after your bubba, have a night out with your hubby.
Will be back online next week.
mxx
Antheia and Laura: Read both your birth stories. Fantastic, both of you! :D Well done!
Hiya ladies!
Moose: Love that you kept JB as part of Sammy's name! :) Can't wait to read your birth story. Sounds like you had a nice time at the wedding. I haven't left Oliver to go out yet - the thought scares me right now, even though I know he'd be fine. My mum keeps telling me I should go to the cinema with DH one night so that she can babysit!
AFM: Oliver had a check-up today. He'd gained 640g in 2 weeks. He'd also grown 3.5cm! He's just growing so fast!!!
We have our 6 week post-natal check on Friday.
Oh, and last night Oliver was snoring SO loudly! It was honestly keeping me awake! How can something so small and cute make so much noise?
How are all you lovely mummies and babies doing?
Hello ladies!!
so know im late in joining...
Our baby girl Winter Lorraine was born on feb 4th 8pound6, 7 weeks ago today!! She is a little devil, but also so brilliant.
How is everyone else going with their babies? any exciting milestones? anyone else as tired as i feel?
'ello mummas' and bubbas'!
anthiea- wow thats one fantasic birth story! i admire your strenth!
laura- thats a nice birth story, im glad it was a good experance :)
sterla- woo your mans growing isnt he! darren snores too, but ive got spray for that...then darren sneezes...its rather cute!
AFM: darren has his 6week check up today. im a little :S about it, as im worried the reflux medicaton (which im not sure worked) is making him contipated (sp?) he always seems to be straining to fart, and his reflux is still there...but when i let him feed for how everlong its not as bad. plus the last 3 days have been hellish with wind so im worried he'll have lost waight :S. on the up side he gets his toung tie cut friday so maybe his re-flux wont be so bad  i just hope we get good news....i really really do!! (that and darren to be in a relaxed mood...
another downer is a good friend of mine had an early m/c. her and her dp didnt know until after she was utd and m/c'd :( and now in 3 weeks he's off to japan for 6months+ ...
Orson had his checkup today and has finally gained 210g! I still have to keep up the formula topups though as my milk supply is apparently not enough for him which is making him not suck as effectivly as he should be. so im to start taking Fenugreek again and if no change in a week then im tog et a script for Motilium.
baby_blip - sorry to hear about your friend. I feel for her. Must be so tough that her DP is going away for so long too..
jords - Welcome! Love your little girls name.
welcome jords - thats a cool (pardon the pun) name for your little girl! its soo...elgent!
Anthiea- i feel for her too, she's ready for kids. sadly her DP is still kind of one (he's my DH's age :eyeroll: i read your coming to melboune? im near funky-town (frankston) its not too bad, and the place your DH may end up i a nice place to be!
saw the peadatrition - worst way to spend $120! hopefully we'll get most back with medi care. i wanted to slap him cus a) he told me co-sleeping is a trigger for SIDS (new info he said :eyeroll: ) b) darren is looking "thin and had lots of loose skin which means he's growing taller not fatter and c) "if you dont treat babys they die" and thats a quote...tell me - since WHEN are babies medical conditions? Ohh and he got annoied when i told him the charts for waight gain are for formular fed bubs, not BF fed ones...and 30 years old...opps, i guess i know too much...im a co-sleeping baby wearing, instinct trusting mumma - something he knows nothing about! Ohh and he didnt even waigh darren - all my freaking out for...NOTHING! :wall:
baby_blip, what a drop kick of a pead to say he looks thin but didn't even weigh him! The first thing they should do it weigh before anything else is said. Good on you for sticking up for yourself and your bubba. Do you see the MCHN at all? Maybe be a better alternative.
Orson's last feed just before he fed so well. He must have listened and thought oops better start sucking properly! lol.
:welcome: Welcome Jords! I love your babies name - beautiful :).
Blip: What a stoopid pead! Why on earth would't he weigh Darren??? Sorry you seem to keep having awful experiences with the 'professionals' - it's not fair . I'm so sorry to hear about your friend too.
Antheia: :bluecheer: Yay for Orson gaining! I hope he keeps up his good feeds.
Good morning All :)
thankyou for the welcome, i wish id joined earlier!
Antheia, I read your birth story-amazing! Couldnt help but giggle about your partner with his placenta experience(no offence intended!)... i wrote in my birth plan i wanted to see the placenta,so after it was birthed the midwife asked if she could show us... my partner " NO" i just smiled as she went through every detail holding it up... poor Nate I think had experienced enough by that stage... was a bit faint by the end heheh...
Blip- what is the go with "health professionals"?? so frustrating when it costs so much for one visit, only for you to leave unsatisfied...
Ok i feel a bit silly, what do the abbrevitions used stand for? as in DS,DP, DH etc?
Hope everone and their Bubs are well!
Welcome Jords!! congrats on your baby girl :)
DS = Dear Son
DP = Dear partner
DH = Dear husband
DD = Dear Daughter
ETA (edited to add) i will add you to our list!!!!
Jords: You'll love BellyBelly! It's such a wonderful, supportive community! As far as I understand DP/DH/DS, etc stand for "Dear or Darling Partner/Husband/Son/Daughter.
There is a section on BellyBelly (BB) that explains all the different abbreviations. Here's the link:
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...-acronyms.html
AFM: Oliver is feeding so well - he's started needing much, much less time to feed. He fed for 10 minutes on one side last night, and then was full enough that he wasn't interested in the other side and even had a little overflow milk coming back out his mouth! Then he slept happily for 4 hours! Good news for him and me :D.
anthiea- he was a dope. i do have a MCHN but shes just as bright  im glad orson is feeding well!
sterla- i have no idea why he wouldnt waigh darren - make me worry and not offer any kind of reassurance? pfft. stupid man was 'prolly peeved i wasn't a "yes doc" first time mum. how cute is it when they have milk dribble out...a *almost* got a pic of darren doing that...but he moved and wiped it off!
jords- i've taken to throwinf 90% of what "heath pros" say out the window. i know my child...i grew him inside for almost 42 weeks! as for the plasenta i told my MW and DH mine looked funky and the student doc who was there was like "erm...oook..."
AFM: darren had a good sleep last night just over 4hrs. woke up 3 hrs later and had a minni cluster feed for 2hrs. i talked to my mother...i wish i hadn't! she was talking about formular and putting daz on it! grrr when i told her i didn't want to hear it...she ignored me! im staying posative, tomorrow daz gets the tung tie cut, and it'll get easyer! i better go...i want to get some furngeek see if i can up my supply to help darren out...cuz this stress isnt helping my milk!!
hope all you lovely mummas' snd bubs have a good day!
Just wanted to say :happybirthday: to Baby Blip! Hope you have a fantastic day, and that Darren gives his mummy lots of birthday smiles! :)
Happy birthday baby_blip!
Happy birthday!!!!
hope u had a fantastic day xx
thank you girls for the birthday wishes! means alot to me!
i got the best birthday pressie i could have asked for - darren got his toung tie cut!! i did half a feed with out a sheld and good attchment (my aunt was in the ABA when it was nurseing mothers and helped me out!) hopefully darren will do a full feed (he missed half of one 'cus he was over tired and his toung was sore the poor bugger) tomorrow i see my LC about no-nipple sheald feeding which i feel is 100% possable! i almost cried when they cut the toung tie - i cant handle hearing darren cry. but the doc who did it was fantasic and funny (he told chris when i didnt want any more kiddletts he'd do the 'snip' for him...his busness card has "dr Snip it" on it!)
the second best pressie is what chris got me; Kaz coookes "kid wrangleing" ... now i just have to find time to read it! hahaha
Hope you all have a lovely night!
Blip: Glad you had a fantastic day! That's great that Darren got his tongue tie snipped. I hope the feeding continues to improve! :D I love those Kaz Cooke books. I have Up The Duff and Kid Wrangling, and have found both informative and highly amusing!
AFM: Oliver and I went in for our 6 week post natal check today. That was all okay... except we ended up getting him vaccinated today instead of at 8 weeks (doctor said something about a whooping cough epidemic and them encouraging parents to get bubs vaccinated earlier). Oh, it was awful watching Oliver in so much pain! I nearly cried :(. He was good though and settled fairly quickly after - but he's not happy tonight. His leg is all red and swollen from where he had one of the injections. We've given him some baby panadol - hopefully that will do the trick.
baby_blip - Glad Darren got the tongue tie cut ok. Hope it isn't too sore for him. Hope you had a good birthday.
sterla - oushies on the vaccinations! Poor bubba. I hated seeing my kids get them but have decided to not get them anymore so thankfully won't have to see that.
AFM - Orson won't go down to sleep tonight! He is sitting in his swing whinging cause he keeps losing his dummy. I have been awake since 5am this morning which is so not me. Thank god it's the weekend and DH is home for 2 days!
I was recommended a great site the other day and i think you should all visit it. Just google kellymom. It's all about breastfeeding. Do's and don'ts, what to expect and what's normal.. It's a very interesting and great read.
hello ladies! dammit i just wrote a big post and my internet stuffed up and got rid of it,argh!!
Happy (late) Birthday BabyBlip, hope you had a lovely day!
Thankyou laura133 and Sterla for the abbreviation education.
Has anyone other than Sterla's bub Oliver had their 8week vaccine yet? We are booked in for this wed and im so not looking forward to it :( i read somewhere that a study done found babies felt less pain during a pric.k if they were breastfed when it was happening... has anyone tried this??
hope everyone had a great weekend :)
Antheia: It was awful watching Oliver get his injection, but he's such a good bub - he was back to his normal happy self by the next day! That site sounds great, I'll have to check it out :).
Jords: I've heard that about breastfeeding while they get the needle, and tried it in hospital, but to be honest Oliver still got really upset. It would probably be more helpful calming bub after the needle. Be sure to pick up some baby panadol - it helped Oliver (and us) heaps. Good luck on Wednesday.
AFM: It's been over 6 weeks since my c/s, so I'm back behind the wheel and loving it! I love having my independence back. Oliver and I have been on a few nice outings today :D.
I hope everyone is well.
have updated our list.
hi all sorry i have been MIA having dramas here!
Lach is doing great getting him weighed and measured next week!
Will try and get back once things calm down!
So quiet around here..
Orson and i are finally getting the hang of this breastfeeding business. He gets weighed again tomorrow so hopfully it's a good gain.
I'm still struggling with BF in public though. Mainly because i just cannot get comfy or hold Orson properly. Anyone else have this problem?
Today is DH's birthday. He thinks he is old, haha! He is only 23. I had no idea what to buy him so i just got him a book he wanted and $300 to put towards upgrading his computer. Spose i better buy him a cake too although not sure where to get that from..
good morning Antheia, Melaniekate and all :)
it must be a male thing, my dp turs 25 in july and was saying only last night that he was getting old (!!) im stoked with this age though(24) and have never been happier, especially now we have our bub Winter here :)
How much did Orson weigh last? Im not too stoked with bf in public either, with getting comfy i usually stick a spare muslin or cloth nappy under my arm and just use it like a cusion...
As for a cake, not sure what your budget is but ive had both the chocolate and caramel mud cakes from woolies bakery, they are cheap as but really tasty... they arent that flash looking though....
Argh,8 week vaccine today, terrified :(
Last week Orson had put on 210g which brought his weight up to 3.6kg. He was born 4.1kg but dropped down to 3.4kg by 4 weeks. So he still isn't back to his birth weight at almost 7 weeks. That's why he is being breastfed and given formula top ups.I am hoping he has regained his birth weight now so i can get rid of the formula but im not counting on because that'd be 500g in one week and that's impossible!
MelanieKate: Hope everything is okay. Glad Lachlan is doing well :).
Antheia: That's fantastic that you and Orson are getting better with b/f! I hope he's gained heaps. You never know - he might gain 500g in a week, Oliver did that once! Men are so hard to buy for, aren't they! I'm sure your DH will love his gifts. :D
Jords: Good luck with the needles today. I hope your bub copes well with it.
AFM: I think Oliver is having a growth spurt. The last couple of days he was feeding every 2 hours - I was a very tired mummy! Then, last night he slept for 6 and a half hours straight! Pure bliss :D.
