We are finding it quite difficult to get No. 2 happening! We have been TTC for 12 months now and it is not easy for us. I get really annoyed when people say, "So, when are you having another one?" Grrr!

i am mum to zara age 4 and aiden 20 months, and pg with #3 (30 weeks at present).
i agree with nadine your little man is really cute...so is Kayla though.
don't stress too much about conceiving...zara happened within 6 months, aiden took 18 months to conceive, and this one took just 1 go! had been off the pill for 3 months due to cervical dysplasia, went to my specialist for a check up and ask if it was ok to try for # 3, he said yes, and we conceived that night! our doctor did recommended zinc & magnasium for my DH (promotes strong swimmers!).

littlescottishboy - Always room for one more! It gets pretty quiet in here though... so dont worry if there are no posts for while, we are still around - somewhere. I will introduce myself. I'm Katie and my little man is Ben. I live in Germany with my German DH... But I'm Aussie. Im 23 and no plans on TTC #2 for us just yet. We were going to try around this time, but we have decided to put our baby plans on hold until we decide where on earth we are going to live next year (Oz or Germany).
Today is a beautiful day, so perhaps i should be outisde enjoying the rare sunshine with my book instead of being on the computer? this morning we went to a childrens flee market. Ben has been pushing his little plastic chair around the house, we realised that he is pretending it's a pram because he was putting his toys on the seat and pushing them around. MIL suggested that she might buy him a play pram (AGH!!!!). I was so afraid that she would turn up one day with a pink babyborn chair! BUT today at the flee market we found a simple wooden play pram, that didnt look girly in the slightest, so for €1 we bought it. Ben loves it so much... Weird.
Nadine - Ben gets bored of things easy. So it can be hard to keep him entertained. But, saying that, Ben is brilliant at entertaining himself, im sorry i dont know anything i could suggest!! Actually, a Sandpit is a brilliant investment. Ben loves it, and he can just sit in it for ages and not get bored. It's worth the money and effort. Ben also loves to watch dancing and music shows (wiggles etc..). He loves to dance and copies the moves sometimes. I find that he plays more happily if i have a cd, or any music on.

All is good here not much news, we are all settled into our new house and loving it, H loves having a back yard to run around in. I'm 30 weeks now so getting there its amazing how much quicker the second pregnancy goes :)

Nadine i agree about the sandpit, H loves ours, he likes to play with crayons and pencils on paper, doesn't always draw a whole lot but does sort the pencils etc
Bubbles keep him occupied as does books at the moment or helping out in the garden...
Whats everyone buying for the kids for chrissy, i've done loads of our shopping because i'm going to have a newborn on my hands and no time in Dec :)
Wilson- WOW 30 weeks already!!! Time certainly flies. I was looking on your site the other day to see if you had any belly pics up, as I couldn't remember how far along you were. Thought the pics may give me a hint, but there were none :lol: Harry is as gorgeous as ever though!!!
Thankyou for the suggestions. kayla actually has sand in her clam shell. I need to get DH to move it from the gargage to the backyard. We don't have a pergola yet, so we bought a $40 marqee from bunnings on the weekend, so we will use that for Kayla to play under :-)
Christmas shopping- I haven't really thought about it too much, but I would like to buy kayla a kitchen and also a bigger doll. She loves my old doll that I got when I was about 11, but it is sentimental (my Oma bought it for me), so it's not something I want her ruining, iykwim. She does have a small doll but it doesn't seem to be as exciting, LOL. I think maybe the more lifelike size is the attraction.
Xmas already, this year has gone so fast! We have thought a little about it. As we might be moving back to oz next year we dont want to be shipping alot of things back, so really im stuck as to what to get Ben. Still thinking. I dont want to give him just clothes, that's boring :-)
Nadine - I completely understand about the sentimental value of your doll. Ben loves to play with a toy dog of mine. It isnt that old (6 years) but i bought it the first time i arrived in Germany and It has been all over the world with me... I also have a toy Hippo that Dh gave me when i left Germany the first time... and ben loves to play with that too. No matter where i hide it, he always seems to find it.
I am so excited about Winter coming up! The weather is getting cold and frosty, i LOVE it! I just hope this winter has much more snow than last year. It makes me sad when i think that this might be my last Winter in Germany. This will be my 6th Winter here.
We went to playgroup yesterday. One girl can name all the other children! there are about 10 or 12. I think that's amazing! All the kids are the same age, give or take 2 months. Ben isnt anywhere near some of the other children with his speech. But he communicates well - nods for yes, shakes his head and says "Nononononono" for no. Thats very helpful. So I'm sure it's just the 2 languages confusing him. Plus, Im a pretty quiet person... and i noticed some of the other mums dont stop talking.
Wilson - I wish we had a backyard of our own. Our Backyard is shared with the people who own the house we live in (they live in the second and third storey). they have 2 girls 5 and 8, who are too much sometimes... I would really love a backyard that was just for us.
Ben loves books like H. It's funny because he can just sit for a long time and look at the same page. When you go to help him and turn the page he says "Nononononono" and turns back to the previous page he was staring at for the past 30 mins. I also sometimes find Ben "reading" the Tv pages, or even one of my novels. haha.

We are all wonderful. Allegra is getting so big - a real little girls and saying so many words its not funny, she is certainally a chatterbox like her mumma. We go to Montessori one day a week, swimming one morning and we try to get together with other mums and bubs at least once a week too.. plus i work one day a week so she spends time with both grandparents.
I keep getting asked when the next one is coming along but it wont be at least until next year. We have so much on in the next few months that a pregnancy wouldnt be ideal for us. I would like to be pregnanct and relaxed!!!!
Everyones bubs are getting so big too. I cant believe how time has flown. Allegra will be 2 in January and it just felt like yesterday she was born.
Chrsitmas - well, I am going to buy her a few toys not too many as she has tonnes and I kind of like her to be entertained more doing 'everyday' things like she gets tought at Montessori - you know like helping mummy with washing, in the kitchen. Stuff that develops her goss motor skills more than just for entertainment value IYKWIM?

Nadine - wow, what a mess i bet! Yes, Angus is very adventurous as well (and naughty). His latest trick is running full speed into the timber slat blinds and bending them, then doing it again immediately after we say "No!" to him! I think he thinks it is a game which makes me slightly annoyed! He's mostly a good little boy but sometimes gets a little too cheeky for my liking!
Princess T - sounds like you have fun and action-packed weeks with Allegra. Montessori sounds like it teaches great skills; any help aroud the house has gotta be a good thing!
Kaydee - Ben certainly sounds very smart to be getting into your novels already! I can't get Angus near books unless they have actities to do like flipping thigs out or feeling sort bits etc. I was so upset considering that i am an English teacher - i was expecting my offspring to adore books, but not to be!
Wilson - oh wow congrats to you!!! How exciting to have anewborn at Christmas time. What a lovely present! Do you think that Harrison will enjoy being a big brother?

We bought a puppy last week, Tilly a gorgeous little thing but its hard work getting her and Harry to play well together if she isn't jumping or playing on him then he is chasing her with his lawn mower hehe but its all fun.
32 weeks now and getting closer and closer, i'm more worried about this birth than i was H's weird hey but we just had no idea with our first and now i know what its like lol

Littlescottishboy - i think H will be good with the new baby, he lifts my shirt these days and says baby and puts his head against it etc which is cute...

Hi Wilson, congrats on the new puppy we are getting one as soon as our reno is finished...just a little dog this time. What sort did you get?
Im feeling really good. I am a little over 31 weeks at the moment. My c/section is going to be on December 3, so i've only got about 7 weeks to go...I can't wait! The kids are soooooo excited bout the new baby. The only tiny problem we are having is that we told them the baby would come before xmas, and to my disgust (like every year) xmas decorations were out the end of sept so zara thought the baby was coming then! had to explain they put them out early so people buy them for xmas. We have made her a chart to ad stickers to leading up to when the baby arrives...but i won't start that til november!

You asked about snowy. She was in our TTC group. She had a bit of a scare and had to have an operation but is ok now. I won't go into it as i don't think it is my place to say, but hopefully she will come in here soon.

I LOVE doing the washing. All that sorting, and im a pro folder... actually, to be honest, crappy folding is a real pet hate of mine. Especially people who fold towels weird. I studied tourism and hospitality a few years back, we learnt how to fold sheets and towels the "hotel" way, and they are pretty strict. So, i think thats where that came from. But i really hate Ironing. Dh works in an office, so he has to wear shirts everyday...
Today we are off to the Netherlands, exciting. We are going to a big store that is (apparently) wall to wall with Christmas stuff. We need decorations (ok, who doesnt?). The dutch are crazy about Christmas, so im sure there will be alot to choose from. Will be a nice day out. I've started making a list for Ben, things that i think he might like for Xmas. I'm thinking of including a potty on the list, but i dont want to admit that he will need it soon! he is still my little baby!!!
Where are you guys with toilet training? When are you planning to start, or have you already started??
Nadine - i've been reading your TTC thread every now and again. I do hope Snowy comes in here soon.
I need to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth out very soon. I'm so nervous i keep putting it off. But if i keep doing that, our insurance might not pay for it anymore. A friend of mine is coming to visit mid november, so i might have to get it done either now, or after he leaves. Hmmm. Scary.
Well, i should go and get breakfast.
I just read about Snowy as well, hope she is doing ok and comes back when she feels up to it!!
Christmas decorations sounds like loads of fun, is it getting cold there now Kaydee...
For Christmas I've done most of my shopping now and have majority of H's things. Some are santa as well though...
So far we have a trike, chalk and textas and a gardening set (little metal watering can and spade and rake etc) a colouring book, couple of kids music cds, a set for the sand pit and some clothes etc
I still have to buy a backpack, playdough kit, plastic tool set and a train set of some kind.
And of course he is getting a baby brother or sister :)
Littlescottishboy i pmed you cos i can't find you and Nadine i can't find you either so haven't added you yet :) Katie added me so that was easy, i'm hopeless with finding people hehe
Harry was sooooooo trying today i have zero patience at the moment and feel like the worst mum ever, it feels like all i do all day is say NO Harry and man did he sook today, i hope tomorrow is a better day, gotta love them though!

Sarah - I hope you are feeling better. I undestand the "worst mother in the world" feeling. I guess we all do! It is getting cold here. Very cold. But i love it. Its nice when the sun is shining and there is no wind, but it's freezing cold. I cant wait for the snow. I feel like Ben could really enjoy the snow this year.
Ben has started with his little tantrums. the stomping of the feet and screaming, but i just ignore it and continue what i was doing. It seems to work. He is a pretty easy kid though (I say that now...). Our routine is pretty strict, so i would think it comes from that. who knows, maybe the next one will be a real terror.
I have a few things on a list for Ben. so far: Little people firetruck, playdough kit, clothes... a few other things, but we really havent started shopping yet. We are going shopping tomorrow to get started. I've already put the Xmas decorations up, some people think im crazy for doing that in October, but i felt like the summer decorations needed to go, it's too cold outside to have bright orange and green and yellow things everywhere. It just doesnt feel right :-)

Quick update on us: We recently went to the Uk to attend my uncle's wedding. It was really brilliant, and i cant wait to go back as soon as i can!
I got all my wisdom teeth out last week - It's terrible, i miss eating normal food.
Dh is going to Asia on a business trip on Sunday, will miss him so much, but it will be a great experience for him. It will be hard without my taxi for a few weeks. Plus all the Xmas Markets have started, and we love going to them together.... He will be back a couple of days before Christmas. WHICH MEANS, i have to go to the Spice girls concert alone (that's if i cant find someone to come with me!). He might be able to come home earlier, but that all depends on how it goes over there. Hopefully.

We are going well. Kayla is growing up fast and is talking more and more. She loves watching wiggles and Hi 5 and loves bananas in pajamas on tv. I still take her swimming on Mondays and she loves it. Next year she will be going up to the next level, and I won't be having to go in the water with her anymore.
My 2nd neice was born 9 weeks ago now. They named her Zoe. I attended my friends (Trish on BB) home water birth on Sunday night/monday morning aswell and it was an amazing experience. She asked me to take photos and video it, and I was very honoured :)

hi everyone, I'm new to this board, but been around BB a few months. I'm so glad i found this thread, we have all the same issues as my boy is the same age. My name is Lara, I have an Indonesian husband, we live in Brisbane with our son, Olly.
I love the suggestions on how to keep them entertained..It's surely an issue that grows as they do: I'm gonna try the chalk for outside writing. I'd be lost without playgroup and daycare once a week- he loves the interaction with little people and the routine. When xmas break comes along I'll have to make much more effort to get us out and socialising. Otherwise we bum around at home- we moved house so he has a backyard now, it's so good! we got him a giant beach ball (bigger than him); it floats in slow motion when you throw it around. great investment. I try and get out as much as possible - we swim at the pool fairly often. i discovered that if he's wearing a floaty vest (or inflatable tyre) he will happily hang on to my shoulders and ride on my back while i do laps. It makes me sink a bit so sometimes i put his tyre under my belly (I'm 35 weeks pregnant so it fits around the bump). but getting out is harder as i get bigger... its gonna be much harder when the new one gets here. Wilson you'd be in the same boat, yeah? Have you done alot of stuff to prepare yr boy for the new arrival? We have given olly a big boy bed, and now he stays on it all night (he spent the first week rolling off onto carpet).
Kaydee, glad to hear you might be moving back to oz next year. We lived in Indonesia till olly was 9 months old, then DH got his PR visa and we moved... best thing we ever did! But it sounds like germany is well set up to support you raising kids. NOt so Indo. I'm loving the support, the clean air, the lack of mosquitos, the freedom to walk down the street, the anonymity of being normal, the parks and playgroups and backyards that we never had there. we speak Indonesian at home so Olly'll be bilingual... it might take him a bit longer to get started speaking but that 's ok.
PrincessT - wow yr DD helps out in the kitchen, that's awesome! Olly can mop up spills but i haven't tried him helping wash up or anything. I'm sure he'd love it, will have to give it atry.

Me - well i'm 38 weeks now basically and just waiting waiting :) you know how it is. I'm much more worried this time around about the whole thing though, gotta stop thinking about it :) I thought i was going into labour last week but it all eased, must have been braxton hicks which i didn't get with H.
H is good, i haven't really done much yet to prepare him, we have the single bed we just haven't put it up yet cos we are slack :) we are going to do his day time naps to start with and then slowly work him into it at night, bubs will go into the basinette to begin with so we have a few months anyways.
He understands the term baby and pictures etc of babies and he says baby and hugs my belly but i don't think he gets that there is a baby in there, he lifts his shirt and rubs his belly and says baby lol.
Anyways good to hear from you girls it was so quiet in here :)

wow sarah, only 2 weeks to go!! HOw exciting!!! Iguess every little niggle has you wonderingif this is it. Sounds like yr last time was traumatic, i hope you get an easier timeof it this second time around- that's what's getting me through - i figure it couldn't possibly be as bad as last time. I wonder how much olly understands of pregnancy too. He loves this library book "there's a house inside my mummy" but i think he relates more to the pics of the little boy having cars and trains in the bed and the bath than mummy's belly having a baby in it.
thanks for the welcome, girls. Nadine we're having another boy! I'm well pleased as it'll be great for olly to have a brother close in age. I grew up with a brother 2 yrs older and it was great- us against the adults, but as we got older the gender difference made us more and more distant. already we're wondering whether to go for more kids or stop at 2... DH said if all our kids are like Olly then we should have 10! LOL... It was so nice to hear, he really does make us so happy. But i'm already 35, and the doctors want me to stop breastfeeding and go on 2 types of contraception at baby's 6 months, to fix my liver which'll take 12-18 months, so after that if we want more kids i'll be TTC at 37-8... scarey!
I guess i could tell the drs to relax, i'd like to bf for at least a year anyway, and then we could try for another pg asap and fix the liver after I'm done breeding. oh well the decision is still 7 months away.

I'm so down at the moment. Dh is away in Vietnam for 3 weeks, the weather is so terrible i cant go anywhere... My step-dad told me today he is having some medical problems (brain), after i get off the phone to Dh Ben slips and chips his front tooth on the tiles. Now about a quarter of his front tooth is missing, and it looks a bit silly, but i just burst out crying. I felt like it was all my fault (we were playing) even though i know it's not, i just feel like a terrible mother.
We are going to the dentist tomorrow, but im sure there is nothing they can do. I can't believe THAT happened. Everyone goes on about what great teeth he has :-(
Oh, I'm going to stop now before i start crying again.

Cale David arrived safely via c/section December 3, 2007 at 9.24am. 6lb 4 1/4 oz, 51 cms long.
All going very well...he just loves sleeping!!!!!

Well, just got back from the dentist. He couldnt do anything but said 1 of 3 things could happen.
1. it could go black, and he will have a black tooth until it falls out when he is around 6
2. Nothing will happen, and he will just have a chipped tooth.
3. It will fall out
AGH! So i have my fingers crossed number 2 will happen.

thanks for the welcome Kaydee, sorry u had such a crap day, i'd be a mess too! I did a tour of the labourward today, so i know exactly where to go and what to pack... it was traumatic! I looked at the bed with it's stirrups not quite hidden on the sides, the windowless room and equipment and got cold shivers. Then a woman was wheeled in screaming and we were all rushed out by nurses, and the sound of her screams came with us down the ward. the other girls on the tour were first timers so i couldn't let on to my anguish in case it scared them (they were so calm) but i was trying not to cry as we all descended in the lift, thinking i don't wanna do this again afterall. what was i thinking? it's a bit late now tho. the nurses assured us we'd forget the pain as soon as we held our baby, what a load of bull****, i remember i was still screaming for the next half hour, at some point there was a blue slimey thing on me and didn't have the strength to lift him off. i don't wanna go thru that again. there is a hospital at Logan where my friend works as a pediatrician and she says anyone who asks for a ceaser gets one. I'm not booked there, it's quite far away and i dont like the idea of a long difficult recovery.... but i just bet i'll change my mind if this labour is as aweful as the last. or hopefully my brain'll forget all about this in a few days.

Sarah has had a Baby Girl!
I got an email from her hubby which said:
CONGRATULATIONS Sarah, Andrew and Harrison on the birth of princess Milla. :dance::
On Wednesday at 12:58 Sarah gave birth to a baby girl, Milla Noel Preston. Milla is 8 pounds and 51cm. Milla and Sarah are doing well now, though Sarah had a complication following the delivery which required minor surgery. We will send through some photos soon.
CONGRATS SARAH, ANDREW AND HARRY! And welcome little Milla, what a beautiful name!!!!
Lara - I understand you!!! After i had Ben everyone went on about "oh, you forget about the pain very fast dont you?" I could have punched them in the face. I still heard screaming in my head for weeks and weeks. Very traumatic. My birth was fast and hard (3hours). although fast and hard is always better than slow and drawn out. And, i was stil in pain for quite a while afterwards (BAD BAD piles TMI sorry) and then to top it off, i had an infection. It just didnt end. AND i had the WORST time breastfeeding :(

cOngratulations sarah!!! milla is a BEAUTIFUL name. looking forward to hearing the birth story if you choose to share it.
for me only 2 more weeks or so. but we have a problem with the name we chose : a few ppl have said to DH... Mylo? thats a milk drink, and now he's all unsure about the name which sux coz it was originally his suggestion. I always start with "only want positive comments coz it took us 6 months to agree", so everyone's been great to me. but someone even said to him "not Milo, that's my friend's dog's name". (one of my blokey women friends, would u believe). I've tried telling him to ignore them, someone'll always say something nasty about ANY name, but the doubt is already there. i could scream. shoulda told no one. I'm so OVER looking for names i refuse to do it again.
i noticed something about us women with kids - we love getting together. i had a baby shower on the weekend and all my playgroup friends came and got into it, the other (single girls/ first time pg friends) mostly didn't make it, so thank god for playgroup or it woulda been sad. as it was, it was awesome: there was heaps of women, lots of toddlers, 3 tiny babies, a smattering of men out back and the house was alive. the kids alternated between outside playing on the toys and creating havoc inside. us girls set out masses of yummy food and all talked at once, passing the babies around. it was 2 hours gone before we got around to playing the games, so we rushed into labour symptom heads (like celebrity heads but using terms specific to childbirth). someone was episiotomy and someone else was show, but we would have accepted bloody mucus plug, and there was of course excrutiating pain. another really good game was trashy maternity wear- garbage bags transformed into designer princess dresses and belly baring hooded gowns etc. i said no presents but everyone brought presents and food too, so there was an awesome spread. the boys stayed well away from games and missed out on all the party food, which was fine coz they fired up the bbq and broke out the beer. everyone was happy, the kids had a great time and our house feels thoroughly warmed. should be easy to organise play dates after that in order to get us through the xmas break.
last week of work for DH then he get 2 weeks holiday (but no holiday pay as he's casual... oh ****!) lucky we dont have to worry much about xmas presents (we're muslim). hope everyone survives the silly season!

we are all going really well. cale is such a happy content baby who pretty much only sleeps and eats, he rarely cries. he has already put on 2kg in 4 weeks not that you can tell he's so long and skinny. zara and aiden have been great with him. i can't remember not having him now! silly i know.

On the first day of 2008 at 9.11pm Mylo was born:dance:!
He was 3.38 kg, 51.5 cm, 33cm hc, and he is perfect!
I had a 9 hour labour just with gas, but the first 6 hours were easy! the last 3 hours were pure unadulterated agony, but this time it was pain on MY terms. I had a clear moment of connecting with Mylo when i realised i needed to work with him: like "C'mon Mylo, I'm gonna get u out", and i began to concepualise using the pain to push instead of resisting it by screaming. i actually felt him turn in the birth canal: it was bizarre! it was an amazing experience, so much better the second time, but it wasn't all over when he was out. I had 2nd degree tears and post partum haemoraging so they tortured me in horrible humilating ways for 3 more excrutiating hours (15 stitches:cry:). But in the end we are both ok and love being home as a family of 4!:D.
Olly is coping really well with the new addition to the family (i'm coping less well with having my mum stay to "help out"). Mylo is SO UNDEMAMDING as newborns tend to be, so i have been able to give olly all the attention he is used to, just i cant pick him up so easily. He is interested in Mylo without being obsessed or jealous (so far anyway) and Bonar is the proud happy daddy of 2 wonderful boys! he was great during the birth and has been awesome at home, but he goes back to work on Monday... lets see how i go then!

Narelle- No news yet. Still trying. This is our 6th month so I am hoping that we aren't to far away from getting a positive. Thanks for asking :) That's great to hear that Cale is doing well. Time sure has flown and I certainly can't believe that Kayla will be 2 very soon!
Katie- How are you and Ben going? Have you got any snow there?

I believe I read in the pregnancy announcements that Snowy is expecting bub no.3 :D It was a suprise but they weren't far off TTC anyway. She got a positive on new years eve!

Just wanted to pop in again and say the hugest congratulations ever to Sarah on the birth of Milla and to Lara on the birth of Mylo! How very exciting and wonderful! Wishing you a wonderful life together as family.
Not much news this end - we are off to see a fertility specialist finally on Thursday after 15 months of TTC. (including my 3rd m/c during that time). So, hopefully we will get things moving as it has been a bl***y long wait!
