Hello girls!
Sorry for being MIA for so long. With the whole cancer scare I stopped going online to BB and then when I was told they got it all, I kinda just forgot to come online... you know how life goes.. so I am back and yes, I am pregnant. Quite unexpected as we weren't ttcing yet but I am very happy. (just hoping the next pap is clear)
I still need to say BIG BIG CONGRATS TO:
Narelle on the birth of Cale
Sarah on the birth of Milla
Lara on the birth of Mylo
Zara is still her cheeky little monkey self. She sometimes gets herself in trouble, pounces on Wolf and then cries when he fights back (little drama queen). She still hops and skips and runs rather than walks. She talks a lot but not everything is telligble. Wolf said a lot more at her age - but hey, all kids are different. She is so stubborn and still throws herself on the floor when she doesn't get her way.
For Xmas Santa brought her a shop which she LOVES (as does Wolf). They love playing with the cash register, loading up the shopping basket and making food for Mama & Papa to eat. It's so cute.
Will be posting more regularly again+
Snowy
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
I haven't been checking the thread because i haven't been getting any reminder emails!!! I can't believe I've missed some posts.
First of all, Congratulations to you Lara!!! I'm so very happy to hear that you had a "better" birth experience. I will read your story as soon as I'm done here.
SNOWY! I can't believe you are back! I was so glad to see your post. Huge congratulations to you aswell! What wonderful news that you are doing well and are expecting #3!! I'm really very happy for you.
Ben also got a kitchen set for Xmas (pots and pans and cups etc...) he loves making "coffee" for mummy and daddy. We are always having tea parties and making "cakes". lol. How is Zara going with her language skills? Ben gets confused alot, which is understandable. Lately it's between "Out", "Auf" and "Aus". He is doing well though. We have enrolled him into kindergarden for August. I didnt want to send him - but after a long conversation with Dh we thought it might be good for him to interact in German more.
Nadine - DONT get me started about the snow. We havent had any yet! I really really hope some comes before Winter ends, but i have given up. No snow last year, no snow this year. What is happening to the world:(
Narelle - I'm happy to hear that Cale is doing so well. 2kg in 4 weeks??? WOW!
Ok, now our update. Things are going well for us. Slowly, but good. We are still planning on moving back to Oz when Dh is finished. He has one year to go. We have alot to organize, and still have to figure out how we will be able to afford it. AND we have to organize a visa for Dh (and apply for Ben to become an Aus citizen), but hopefully it will all work out.
We had a lovely Christmas. A friend of ours from Australia stayed with us over the holiday period. New Year's was very quiet. we didnt have a babysitter for the night, so we just stayed home and watched TV (*yawn*).
Take care everyone!
Hi Katie!!
Good to read a post from you again!
So cute Ben loves kitchen / cooking stuff. I am forever pretend-eating fries and peas and sausages :D
Zara's speaking is pretty mixed. She will say "Zara auch!" if she wants something too (that Wolf has usually) but most other things she says are in English. She says cute little 3-word sentences sometimes, other times I can't make out a single word she is saying. Not knowing which language she is speaking doesn't help I guess... Wolf was definitely better at talking at this age. I was watching a video of him the other day with DH and we were both stunned at how well he spoke. He especially enunciated much better than Zara. She mumbles.. .lol.. well, she will get there.. she is still drooling like a champion which is very annoying as I have to change her tops twice a day at least.
Anyway, better dash and bath the kids!! We just got back from my dad's 70th birthday and it's bed time!
Snowy
hi katie and snowy and everyone. Poor Olly has had a few hard weeks with a bad cold and an injury but has coped by having 2 daytime sleeps instead of one, on his initiative. clever boy. the story of his injury goes like this:
olly got his little face smashed up on the bus! The saddest thing is he LOVED the bus until now, now he’s scared of it (and so am I!). it was an old style bus that isn't wheelchair or pram friendly (downright unfriendly). To get on i had to let olly out of his pram, he went on and found a seat. then the fat bloated mean driver just sat there as i struggled to fold the pram with a newborn strapped to my chest
it's an impossibly big heavy pram so i couldn't lift it, a granny came and helped and together we got it thru the door, up the steps and into the aisle. But there's no space for luggage and the aisles really narrow so we had to drag it bump it into the passengers all the way to the back and then drag/hoist it up into a seat (really difficult even if you don't have a baby on your chest) at which point the bus takes off, olly falls off his seat (i'm still in the aisle, 2 meters from him, trying to get there) and he fell face first into the floor/step
and comes up screaming with blood spitting everywhere! i run to him screaming and crying too, grab him in a hug with mylo squished in between us and continue screaming everytime i look at his face. His lip swelled up 3 times the size instantly. So I’m on the floor holding olly, screaming hysterically, i cant stop crying, a couple of women come to help, including the granny, to help calm me down and make sure i dont squash mylo in my panic. They get us to a seat and put a tissue to olly’s face, there’s.blood everywhere, they ask where I want to get off the bus because I’ve lost all concept of where I am. All I know is my baby is hurt and my heart is breaking. Luckily mylo is ok, sleeping like a baby in his baby byorn. we get off the bus at the drs clinic and ask to be seen, crying the whole time and causing a scene in the waiting room. The Dr sees us quick and gives anti biotics and reassurance that it'll heal ok. After that I took him to daycare (walking distance from dr) but then i wasn;t brave to get another old style bus as I still had mylo in the pram, so how do I get home? i waited at bus stops 3 times but not one bus was pram friendly so i refused to get on. i ended up walking home (2 hrs in the midday heat, no hat or sunnies). this all happened 4 days ago and the swelling has finally gone down, but his top lip still looks bigger than usual. he's ok tho, they're built tough these kids!
otherwise he is doing really well with having a baby brother, is gentle and considerate (at his age!). he is, however, a little needy at the moment, bursting into tears at the slightest reason, but i figure he's just making himself more noticable now that theres competition for our attention. his language is much the same... he comes out with new words in English all the time, and understands whatever we say in Indonesian, but only says a few words at the moment. no words yet for wee or poo, so no where near toilet training. that's ok. no rush. toilet traning sounds like an extra work load for me anyway, so it can wait hehehe.
OH lara, Im so sorry to read about the accident. I can imagine what you went through! Germany is very baby-unfriendly. Public transport scares me so much when I'm alone with Ben. Stairs everywhere, no room for a pram... no WAY to get the pram onto trains and busses without a stuggle. I'm really happy I can now drive to places, but I get quite angry when i think about it - how isolated i felt (and still feel).
It's really funny sometimes because Ben would walk up to someone and start babbeling in his own baby language... but in the tone that sounds like a question. Most of the time he gets a "Im sorry ben, i dont understand English" thinking that he is talking english to them, or they look at Dh or me to translate. It's really cute. Basically if you just answer him with a Ja, yes, no or nein he will be satisfied and walk away.
Now his thing is when he drops something he says "OH NO!" or "OH NEIN!" depending on who he is around... other times it comes out like "OHHH NO-EIN!!" haha.
that's so cute! he adapts his exclamations to be language appropriate, clever too! Olly tries to say "alhamdullialah" when some one sneezes, but it sounds like "mmmmanamm lah"- but he gets the tone right! I'm amazed everyday when he comes outwith a new word (eyes, spider) or starts doing something new (putting dishes in the sink, rubbish in the bin... sometimes dishes in the bin and rubbish in the sink hahaha).
you know i'm amazed germany is not more child friendly. i tend to think of europe as being advanced compared to oz with regard to social arrangements - like paid maternity leave, institutionalised equality for gender and ability, good reliable public transport systems etc. i guess not. i know there's a lot of squatting but i thought it was just crusty punk fregan kids (like me in a past life) who choose that lifestyle to make a point about the wastefulness/ inequality of society. i think i just contradicted myself. i've never been to germany (obviously) but i've squatted/dumpster dived/busked the streets of England, USA and Spain. all the fun things u do when you have nothing to lose, no fear, no money and no responsibilities. so tell me, how is it really in germany, do you see a lot of evidence of homelessness/poverty and other indicators of inequality?
Lara- Sorry about Olly's accident. poor thing :( I can understand how you felt. Kayla had an accident a couple of months ago where a drawer flew out and hit her in the head. Blood was gushing out so fast and I was trying to stay clam but it wasn't easy! Anyway, I can't believe the bus driver was so unhelpful. I would have written down the number, not the time and gone and complained about him!!
I hope Olly's lip is recovering well though.
Katie- Aww how clever of Ben to know when to speak German and English. I should speak more German with Kayla, but I keep forgetting to. My mum speaks German with her so atleast that is something but I really do need to get my act together and try harder. I am sure I have heard her say "nein" a few times, but thats all. When I have talked German to her, she looks at me with a grin and it's almost like her face says "that's Omi talk" LOL. She thinks it's funny when I speak it to her!
Us- Kayla is going well. Talking more and more. Her favourite word atm is Noooooo, LOL. Not my favourite but I guess they all go through the stage where they use it more then needed, hehe. She has been syaing please and thankyou for quite a while now but her new thing is to say "thankyou mummy" or whoever she is saying thankyou to she will insert their name. She is still quite tall and I think she may be in size 3 come winter, unless she stops growing for a bit LOL.
Question: What are you doing for your toddlers 2nd birthday? What present(s) are you getting them?
I'll go first :)
What are you doing for your toddlers 2nd birthday? We are inviting about 10 families, so if all come we will be 26 people all up (incl. kids). I am planning on doing a butterfly theme and we will be having ice cream cake this year.
What present(s) are you getting them? The main present Kayla will get from us is a Step 2 kitchen. We bought it on the weekend. We are thinking of getting her a little bike aswell (one where you can stear with the stick at the back). From Nana and Grandad she is getting a dolls house.
Hi everyone!
Our thread is getting more lively again! YEAH!
Lara - oh man, that sounds horrible!!! I can imagine your heart must have been bleeding :( Poor little muchkin. Hope Olly is healing okay.
Katie - really? it's that bad with public transport where you are? I dunno but Berlin was great. All stations had elevators (compared to 3 stations in total in London), you could just wheel on your pram, wheel it off, same with the tram. I don't think I ever took a bus but the metro and trams were excellent. Here in Switzerland it's awesome too. Elevators everywhere, the busses all have oodles of space for prams and they all lower down to the ground so you can wheel on the pram. Just London sucked out of the places I have lived in with kids so far. You couldn't even wheel down our pram because the alley was too narrow. I only ever took taxis after my first 2 or 3 nightmarish-experiences on the bus. Tube is horrible too because as I said, no elevators, stacks of stairs and no one willing to help you (only American tourists... so much for the English gentlemen.. they all plowed past me)
Nadine - we are having Zara' s birthday party at Gymboree. I think we will invite about 5 or 6 families (3 neighbours with 2 kids each, 1 friend from kindy with 2 kids, DH's cousin who just moved here with 2 kids.. and there's a few question marks but i might leave them as question marks...)
Us - all good. I am still feeling very nauseous but have only thrown up once so far (fingers crossed.. it wasn't pleasant.. my stomach hurt the rest of the day). Zara is also talking more and more every day. I love it when they can communicate what they want and don't want, what they see, etc. So much fun. I think she is more confused with the 2 languages than Wolf was and she seems to speak more English than German but that;s my fault, I don't speak enough German with her.
Snowy
Hello everyone,
The transport is absolutely fine here, if i was traveling without a baby. I think that in city areas it's fine, but we are more in the country here. Most of the stations around here dont have lifts, just stairs. A majority of shops are 2 or 3 storey and only in the big chains (H&M, C&A) you are sure to find a lift. Although we do have trains that are okay for prams, we also get the older style trains that are a struggle. I hate the bus (always have since school days) - so i cant speak for the bus. i suppose most of the fear comes from having to ask for help. Although i could (in German) I still have a huge fear about speaking the language... and get panic attacks when i have to speak (long story, i need to work on it). I also suffer from mild anxiety, so that doesnt help either .
Lara - like i said, i live in more of the country area... I can't speak for the whole of Germany, but i think that Germany does well at looking after it's people. My husband is studying at the moment, and im a SAHM. Without the help that we get from the government we would be struggling to make ends meet. DH's wage isn't so great (yet;)). Child care is okay. Playgroup, preschool and kingergarden are free if you earn under a certain amount.
I was really suprised that Dh wasnt allowed Paternity leave. That was a huge problem for us. He had to take annual leave when Ben was born. He told me that fathers get about 2 days paternity leave.
I cant really say much, I've only lived here for 3 years. Snowy is German, so she can probably tell you more.
Ben is pretty clever when it comes from putting dishes in the sink. Every night before bed he has a drink of milk while we all watch a show together (in the night garden). As soon as his drink is finished he says "alle alle" (all gone), i ask if he is finshed and he says yes or no (depending if he is actually done). Then he turns the Tv off and then puts his cup in the sink and then heads towards his room. We love that he has such a set routine. It's brilliant.
OMG I havent even thought about Ben's birthday!! I'm not sure what we will do. Ben has a few friends at playgroup, but there are about 12 kids, and i wouldnt wait to invite a few and not the others. So i might not invite any of the playgroup kids. Plus, they all have birthdays around the same time.
We might just go with a few family and friends (+ bj's cousins baby who is 6 months younger than ben) to the local indoor playground.
We are looking at getting Ben a beanbag seat, or a kids couch or something. Im not sure what else. He got everything he "needed" for Xmas. I might tell people to put money in Ben's savings account instead of lots of presents.
Who is 2 first? Ben is on the 25th. I remember that he was the LAST baby to be born from Feb 06 bubs. 2 weeks overdue, hmpf.
Nadine - Ben is like that when I watch Neighbours (we get uk tv). He loves watching Neighbours with me because he seems really amazed that the characters speak "mummy language" haha.
Allegra is first (of the still active ones on here) I think. She turned 2 just recently. Zara is amongst the last too :)
I am thinking I might actually get relatives to contribute towards getting Zara her own room (aka furniture). I do want to separate the two of them eventually. She currently sleeps underneath Wolf's high bed. She decided at Christmas that she didn't want to be in the cot anymore, so she sleeps on a mattress on the floor but I would like her to have her own bed and room. She can still sleep with Wolf but I think it would be nice if she had a place that was all hers. Wolf doesn't want Zara to leave either. It's really cute. I told him that when Nonno left, I would move Zara into her own room and he said "No, Zara has to sleep with me" - how cute is that!?!
Snowy - that's a great idea about the room. It sounds like Wolf is a wonderful big brother. Have you told them that they will be getting a new brother/sister yet? I suppose it is still quite early.
I don't know how ben would go not sleeping in his cot... he loves bed time. I might wait a little while yet before i convert the cot into a junior bed.
I hope you are all doing well. Things are okay here. ben is getting over a cold so he is sleeping a bit more that usual and is a bit grumpier than usual. Yesterday i had a lovely day with a friend of mine. Ben went to his grandparents for the day and we went to a local city. It was great to get out of the house. My "days off" (when ben goes to his grandparents) usually involves catching up on housework.
I wish the weather would warm up a bit. I have cabin fever. rain rain go away.
Take care!
Katie.
Hey ladies - just a hint - check out the announcements section!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations again Teena :D Hoping I will be joining you.
Congrats again Teena! and like i said in the other thread, am i the ONLY feb 06 mumma not TTC, pregnant or with a newborn????

nadine - aiden is getting a thomas train table and train set and we just have family partys until they are at kinder
lara - i hope olly is getting better...i would definately complain to the bus company and council!

Aiden is 2 tomorrow Sunday, February 3 - i think he is the 1st one. he's so cute singing happy birthday and hip hip horray, he also telling everyone he's 2! he's very exited.
** HAPPY BIRTHDAY AIDEN!**
It's still Saturday here, but it's Sunday in Oz :-) I hope you all have a wonderful day!
Happy birthday Aiden!
Congrats Teena!
Nadine, fingers crossed for a BFP for you soon!!
Happy Birthday Aiden. Hope you have a wonderful day :)
Narelle- Good to hear from you :) I hope his day is special!
Snowy- Thankyou :) It's been 8 long months LOL so I am hoping for some good news soon.
Congrats lovely Teena on your news....enjoy this wonderful time
Snowy - congrats to you too hun. We will have the 'how do you find three?' talk around October, ok?
Hello to everyone else.....
I cant believe our babies are nearly 2....i love this age. They are so cute arent they? trying to talk and mumbling all their words...love it. We tried Sophie in the toddler bed tonight in with her sister, but she burst into tears.....so back in the cot she went (in her own room). I think i will wait a bit longer. She looked so little in that toddler bed.....and i think its a case of mum not wanting her little girl to grow up....so quickly....
I should be in bed. Nighty nite...
MWAH.....
Hey Mbear! long time no see? you must be sooo busy. How is little Sam going? Is sophie a great big sister? she must love having a baby around. Ben just stares at any baby he sees.
Ben is learning new words every day. EVERY day is an adventure, it's amazing how fast things go at this age. This morning ben runs into our bedroom and Dh says "morning ben!" and Ben said "MORNING!" He never said that before. He now has a thing where he waves and says hello to everyone when we go on a walk, or shopping. It's sad when he doesnt get a response though.
Sorry i haven't been back to comment i have been reading though, so slack hehe, thanks for all the congrats....
Congrats Teena :)
Happy Birthday Aiden and Allegra, hard to believe our babies are 2 now. H went into his big boy bed on the weekend and has gone great i was expecting a real hassle with the transition but other than the first night he woke a few hours later and was crying we resettled and he is now happy as Harry :)
Milla is great she sleeps all night now which is lovely. I have had a few probs since the birth with retained placenta and have had 2 d and c's since she was born but am still getting cramping now and they can't tell me why but its worrying me loads so we are trying to see a specialist soon i hope cos i'm not dealing with the worry. The birth was all natural but bloody painful compared to H's thankfully its just 2 kids for us cos i don't want to have to do that again :) actually its more all this after hassles and probs that have put me off having any more. Its just awful not knowing why your body is doing something...
But now we are past those horrible first weeks :) the kids are great! Harry has adjusted really well to being a big brother, he has his moments and is a bit sookier than before but mostly he is good. Sometimes when we are holding Milla or mimi as he calls her he will say "mimi bed" which means we should put mimi in her bed so he can have all our attention lol very cute.
H started swimming lessons on Saturday, was so sweet he loves them which is good and is such a little copier these days he copies everything and chats away on the telephone to people which is cute.
there are pics on my flickr site if you want to see Milla.
Nadine i have everything crossed for you guys, we might be down in August ish for A to graduate from his masters if we are want to catch up? :) i'd love to see kayla again!
Sarah- Would love to catch up. Email me when and where :) Sorry to hear you have had such a bad time after birth. Hopefully the specialist can give you more answers
Hi Sarah,
i just looked at your pictures! Harry looks really tall. Ben has a long body, but short legs - it looks like Harry has long legs? Milla is gorgeous too.
I do hope the specialist can help you. I'm sure everything will be okay. I know what you mean about not knowing what is going on.
Hm, maybe i should think again about moving Ben into his junior bed. seems like it might be time.
BUT Ben has a problem with blankets. He refuses to use a blanket and will only sleep with his sleeping bags. I dont know what im going to when he grows out of his bags, because they dont make sleeping bags much bigger than what he has. I keep trying to get him to use a blanket, but he gets grumpy and throws it out of his bed. Even when i put it on him when he is asleep, the next morning it's on the floor. It's strange. He hates anything being in his bed. No toys, no stuffed toys, no blakets.. nothing at all.
Ben has been a bit difficult this morning. I think he just gets frustrated when he cant communicate what he wants. Yesterday morning he got frustrated when i gave him his sippy cup, after a little while i figured out that he wanted his drink in a normal cup. So he was happy again after that.
yes - Mbear - we can compare notes in August :) - how is it so far with 3 ??
Sarah - that sounds awful with the cramps & d&c's etc. :( I can imagine that puts you off having anymore. my birth with Zara was awful too and because I had had that internal bleeding and my blood pressure and iron was so low, everything hurt so much and I said to DH: this is it! no more kids for me... errr.. yes... here we are :D
Nadine - I can imagine... I know that you have been in the TTC thread before I went in in September and I am keeping my fingers crossed. How long did it take with Kayla to conceive?
Katie - try H&M - they have bigger sleeping bags. Wolf to this day doesn't really like douna's .. he kicks them off all the time.. but he gets so hot in his sleep i just let him
Me - I've got a nasty cold with awful sore throat and I feel so yuck and it's the last thing I needed with the 24/7 nausea. The mucus gets caught sometimes when I cough it up and it makes me throw up which is just horrible. I almost hurled in the middle of the train station today. People were staring at me as I was gagging... I must have looked like a cat trying to hork up a hairball... yuck.. I want this to be gone!!!
We had some Aussie friends over from Copenhagen with their 2 kids and that was fun (4 and 2.5 years). It snowed on Friday night and we went sledding down the mountain we live on. Great fun!
Snowy
Snowy - I just requested to be your friend on Facebook. Hope you're okay with that :-)
It snowed here on Saturday, but only for 10 minutes and it didnt stick around. I hope your cold goes away soon. I had the flu last week. I felt so ill, but it went away pretty fast. I wish Summer would hurry up and arrive.
I found this in the Baby birthday thread... Hopefully it didnt leave anyone out :-) And yep, I was right... Ben was the last. I still can't believe he was 2 weeks overdue!! I hope everyone is doing well. Snowy, are you feeling better??:
January 22 - Allegra Chiara (PrincessT)
January 30 - Callum Peter Ronald (Missy)
February 3 - Aiden Jay (narelle)
February 3 - Harrison Brian (lolly)
February 10 - Olivia Maureen (Fruitwood)
February 17 - Katie Jayne (bruky)
February 18 - Liam Brock (kas)
February 19 - Brianna Leigh (Wishful)
February 19 - Sophie Isabella (MBear)
February 21 - Harrison Mark (Wilson)
February 22 - Kayla Ann (Nadine)
February 24 - Bonnie Lena (apple)
February 24 - Zara (snowgirl)
February 25 - Ben Oliver (Kaydee84)
February 25 - Khye Patrick (Mumof42B)
Snowy- It took us 4mths to concieve Kayla, so this was is proving to be a little more difficult. I gues I am just one of the not so fertile ones. 2 days untill AF is due so we shall see what happens. Yay for the snow. I miss the snow. We want to take Kayla to the snow next year. I think she will love it :)
Katie- I had forgotten that Ben was overdue. Atleast he still made it in Feb :D Any plans for anymore kiddies?
hey girls, you know i told you about olly getting his face smashed up on the bus... well i reported it to the council who refered me to their lawyers who i sent an email of the story as you all heard it... and anyway they've sent me a personal injury claim form, complete with police report form and dr's certificate form. I had thought it was about reimbursing the medical costs (only $5.60) and suggested perhaps it would be appropriate to reimburse my bus fare too, if the first one eventuated. however i get the feeling this is something altogether different. i have been informed that i am acting as olly's agent for this claim. anyone got a lawyer partner/friend/self that can tip me off about what this is likely to be, ie does this mean Olly is sueing the bus people? Are we to expect an apology or a cash settlement or what? obviously i dont care about the $5.60, i was reporting to ensure that mishaps like this dont go unreported and unresolved. and coz you all said i should. so what do ya reckon?
Oh gee - no idea.. maybe it will mainly be an internal investigation and you will get an apology (and a free bus pass.. lol).. who knows. anything would be good (especially an apology).
Nadine - fingers crossed this cycle is it - stay away AF!!
Katie - Zara was 23 Feb but other than that the list looks right (from memory)... gee, we have lost a few ppl on the way, haven't we.. kinda sad.
Unforunately I am still feeling crap. Went to a carneval parade with the kids yesterday, stupid idea cause today I feel worse. I remember you were due before me and Ben just wouldn't come. It was a long wait for you...
You're doing the right thing! Free bus pass would be great. Apology would be even better. I'm sorry, i don't know anyone who might be able to help you - but my very good friend is studying law... I don't think he would be able to help though, sorry. Very best of luck with everything. Keep us up to date :-)
Yes, Snowy, we have lost alot of ladies. Shame i know.
It's really strange. Since Ben was born he usually hits milestones 2 weeks before a "birthday" (eg, 6 months, 8 months, 1 year). Its now 2 weeks before he is 2 and it seems as though he has suddenly began really talking! I feel as though i can really communicate with him now. He is now telling me that it's bed time, he wants something to eat/wants a drink etc... It's so fun!
OH! And i wrote that ben hated blankets? THAT NIGHT Ben wanted his doona on him (WOW!). Weird. Now he seems to be warming to the idea of blankets.
Nadine - more kiddies? yes. When? No idea. We talk about it often. But we think it's not a great idea to have a newborn when Dh is finishing his bachelor. At the end of this year we will be hitting a fork in the road and we dont know which way we will go yet (Oz or Germany). It a really difficult decision for us and we want to make sure we are doing the best thing for our family and future. We are still young ;)
Off to London for a week, so if I don't post, I have lost the battle for the laptop with DH, lol
Snowy
Wow no posts for such a long time...
Hi girls i hope everyone is well.
Zara started 4 year old kinder this year and she loves it! She's so very grown up now, god i miss her when she's gone (10 hours p/w)
Aiden is such a boy! he loves getting dirty and is so very cheeky, yet very cute and hard to stay mad at!
And Cale...well poor little man has just been diagnosed at lactose intolerent so i feel very guilty bout giving him the wrong formula for the last 12 weeks! since he's been on the new formula he's such a happy smiley bub. gota go back to the pead next week for another check up.
Our house is in full renovation...we have the kitchen, 1 bathroom and 2 bedrooms to live in and have done for the last 8 weeks. The new part of the house should be finished within 2 weeks and then we start ripping the front out, OMG! It's going to be so worth it when it's finished.
Lara - have you found out if anything is going to happen?
Kaydee - maybe an aussie bub?
All the kids must now be 2? I hope they all had happy birthdays and got really spoilt and ate lots of cake!
Nadine - any new on #2?
Snowy - how are you travelling with bub #3?
Wilson - Milla is so very cute! Glad she's such a good bub
take care
narelle
narelle- glad to hear your family is going so well. how hard is it living in a renovating house? i cant imagine having one of my babies start 4yo kindy, and missing them! every daycare day (once a week) feels like a holiday to me...i have long luxurious showers (despite water restrictions) and revel in the freedom of only having a newborn to look after. so much free time, no playschool, hardly any demands. i try to do something for myself like sleep, shop or watch a movie, but it doesn't always happen. and i do love the moment when we are reunited at hometime... turns out i missed him after all!
nothing happening on the bus fiasco. i have given up. we still take the bus every week to go to playgroup, but i only ever use the easy fold umbrella pram now. once we did it with no pram at all, which meant olly had to walk to the bus stop and to the church and back again- he did so well! i was really impressed. even tho he was tired at some points and wanted to run off and explore at other moments, he walked the whole way and held my hand like i said. it took lots of praise and engagement.
i haven;t been around much as i'm dedicated to giving olly extra time and attention in an attempt to reduce the naughty factor - it seems to be working. the naughty monster has subsided, i'm so glad to say. he's hardly broken anything lately, it's a big releif and i have lower expectations/bigger tolerance now. Mylo is enormous. 5.8 kgs at 7weeks, thats a 2.5 kg gain! all that good vegan breastmilk i say. everyone is happy here and DH is once again saying we should have 10 kids. i reckon he should grow a uterus before saying that.
hows london snowy?
how was everyone's 2nd birthdays?
Hi ladies,
Well, all bubs are 2 now. That's amazing isnt it?
We had a quiet one this year. Dh and i decided to go away for the weekend, we had a nice time at a bird park, but Ben was so exhausted by the time we got home - he couldnt really enjoy the rest of his birthday. We went to the in-laws for dinner, but i had to rush out the door because i had to start a new German course that night. I should have just stayed home because i got lost and turned up 1 hour late!!
Sad thing is that nobody from Oz contacted us to congratulate Ben - apart from my mum who sent a package last week. It's made me a bit upset. This might sound a little bit selfish, but the only presents Ben got were from us - Dh's parents and grandparents gave me money to go and buy some small things for them because they "didnt know what to get him". But other than that. It just confirms how lonely we are/ I am. Grrrrrrrr. I mean, i have a huge family, and lots of friends, but the distance is heartbreaking.
Haha, i just read my last post again - im sorry im such a sook, you all must be sick and tired about me complaing about missing home :D
Ben got a couple of cards from Oz today, so im feeling (a bit) better.
Lara - lol at 10 kids! haha, you're right! WOW about the 2.5kg, amazing!
Narelle - that must be really annoying for Cale (and you of course). I'm happy you have found out what was wrong.
And well, to be honest it's much cheaper to have a bubba here - i think the healthcare system is much better in Germany and they take better care of you. We will see... It's a hard decision;)
Renovating must take alot out of you too, I hope you dont have to do much yourself.
Hi ladies,
Sorry I am MIA a lot, its just that well, there seems to be not much happening on the site in general... The bellybuddies for Oct (when I am due) changes a page every 2 weeks!! seriously! I kind of spend a lot more time on other sites there days where there is heaps to read every time I log on (like 3 pages!!!) Although I still love you guys here!
I'm feeling pretty good now. I was feeling awful for the past 2 weeks with nausea all day but it seems to have passed. I hope its a good sign that its over. We've got our first ultrasound in 2 weeks, so that will be so exciting!!!
Allegra is wonderful. She talks so much now and counts and knows how to answer questions. She is a bit of a miss knowitall but I think she may get that from me hahahahaha
Most of you know my Facebook details etc. You can generally get hold of me there or on email xxxx
Chats soon T x
Hi everyone!
Teena - glad to hear you are feeling better. I was still throwing up this week... arrrrrrrrg... Good luck for the scan in 2 weeks!!!
Katie - IKWYM, when Wolf turned 1 no one from Oz called and I was SO upset for DS (not that he cared at 1 years of age but I just thought what if this continues). No cards, no presents. Then it turned out that when FIL had come some of the presents he had brought had been from MIL and SIL for DS's birthday but FIL hadn't mentioned it and then he sent some "fake" birthday cards on behalf of everyone from the desert (he made his 4WD-buddies write cards in the name of SIL, MIL etc). It made me laugh so hard when the cards came because a) I knew already and b) I would have so known because the handwriting was old men's handwriting (and the postcards were definitely not MIL or SIL's taste). But I don't even know whether that's the distance or just my in-laws. They are just not good with birthdays. I am used to my mom making such a big fuss on my birthdays and singing and making the whole day special and MY day and at DH's family it's just not a big deal. I still sometimes don't get presents for my birthdays (like last year).
XTML - lol, I am like you, when my kids are at kindy it's like a holiday. Well, it's actually time to get things done, work or do uni... but still, I treasure the time that they are at kindy - but: my favourite part of the day is still picking them up. I love having them run towards me going "Mama! Mama!" and throwing their little arms around me. Beautiful!
Good to hear Olly is growing so well!!!
Narelle - oh no on Cale being lactose intolerant!! But luckily there is lactose free formula these days!!! Good luck with the renovation. It must be frustrating being so crammed in with 2 kids. But I bet you are looking fwd to having it all done!
Me - well, as I said to Teena, still a bit sick. Threw up Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in the supermarket parking lot (how glamorous... I get out off the car and do a chuck right next to the car... and I am hunched down next to the door and am right near the boom gate and all these people keep coming in to the sight of a woman in convulsions...
Have been fine the last 3 days though (touch wood very very quickly). I have another obgyn appointment before coming to Oz in 2 weeks (so soon!!!). I am hoping he will do another u/s and we can find out the gender (and I can buy some baby clothes in Oz :D )
Wolf is sick, I got a call from kindy on Thursday that he had put his head on the table at snack time and had fallen asleep. He has been so hot for the last 2 days. Poor monkey
Snowy
Oooh, Snowy. When/If you find out, are you planning to keep it a secret? If not, let us know!! Do you have a "feeling" if bubs is pink or blue? I can't believe you are going back to Oz very soon. I want to go too! hopefully we will be heading back sooner than later.
I hope your morning sickness settles down for you - especially before the plane trip! And i also hope that Wolf gets better very soon!
Teena, happy to see you around (here) again! be sure to let us know how your ultrasound goes:D!
Ok, so ben now only wants to speak ben-language - agh! Most of the time it's like playing charades (spelling?). He points at the cupboard and blabbers on and on and wants something - so i go through a whole list of things until he says "yea". it can be frustrating. I know he can talk if he tries, he just prefers to speak Ben.
Snowy - ohhhh we can meet at the mall and go to Cotton On Kids!!!! Although I think the clothes overseas for kids are amazing!
Katie - Allegra does that sometimes. She is very articulate but she sometimes says something that I dont understand and I play a guessing game unti she says "yep".
Hope all is well with everyone... any news from Nadine?
