I would never feed Harrison until he vomits!! I agree Kel... thats ludicrous!!! Oh well... to each their own I guess... I feed Harrison enough soilds until I know he has had enough... he shows the signs... turns his head away, won't do "birdie" mouth etc.
-
Who would feed a baby until they vomit? Wow! (OK, me this morning; I made DS go back to sleep without being fed for a few hours last night and his first feed this morning was STILL too much for him.) We just let DS feed himself until he is full - when he loses interest in having his dinner then we take him out the high chair. It's quite easy to tell as he insists on feeding himself, so when he drops his food and doesn't look for it, or when he doesn't grab his spoon and shove it in his mouth then we can stop feeding him. He had baby sweetcorn, potato and runner beans last night. I tried to point out to DH that DS is SUPPOSED to suck the green beans to death before spitting out the tasteless husk, that's what he does with some fruit still, but DH is still thinking we need to purée stuff. Why when he prefers non-purée?
Lil, you poor love with the sleeping! It's awful, isn't it? It's so annoying now because DS doesn't need/want a feed so I can't just feed him to sleep, I have to get out of bed and force him back to sleep then he's up again shortly afterwards. I hope Griffen puts some weight on soon. DS is around the 91st centile for height and the 25th for weight, so I have a long skinny one too, but not as much as Griffen. Must admit, seeing fat babies is weird, but then we know a VERY fat baby who is a month older than DS who likes to eat adult biscuits, butternut squash chips and dairylea cheese on white bread - I can't believe you'd feed a baby that, let alone that be his full diet! He is a full-on fat baby, nearly obese. Poor love. Then again, he sleeps through so maygbe there's something in it j/k.
The carseat bit is in the online stuff forum, under general chat. DS's carseat will do him until 22lb, then he will be forwards-facing as you can't buy rear-facing above the smallest size.

apparently the babies know when they have had enough and will stop eating and if they eat too much it doesnt matter as they will vomit it up.............. whos the mumma? surely mummy should make sure you dont eat too much so that you dont make yourself sick and vomit?
i know one fat baby (he is about 3kg heavier than jemima!) (born 2 hours earlier and up until 3 months ago was the same as Jemima I think), he was at one stage not putting on weight and has gotten ginormous on formula and he is the one who's mum now has the advice to feed him til overflowing........ so i am really scared of overfeeding jemima once we start solids as up until now my body and her sucking has decided quantities! talking about food better go and see if mummy and daddy have anything for dinner tonight!
ps - jemima had afternoon tea today... i'm getting braver .... if this girl is underweight it is going to be my fault big time..... she had banana and cereal..... not very afternoon type food but i'm getting there...!
pps
Mother and Baby Yoga today was awesome.
BUT I was the only one there AGAIN
I so dont want them to stop the classes so if ANYONE knows ANYONE with babies between the ages of 6 weeks and walking that live on the westish side of Brisbane send them to Forest Lake at 3.45pm on Mondays! The classes are meant to be an hour but today it was only 30mins... that was when Jemima got tired and since it was just me I had gotten alot out of it, i think she called it a day...
it is $10 at the Minda Body And Spirit Yoga & Day Spa right next to the lake honestly PLEASE let other mums know it is so nice for both mum and bub, you can actually hear the birds in the trees!
(jemima actually looked like she was doing yoga today the way she eats her toes!)

smylie: its in "websites and online stuff: why our children should face rearward video"
i can't over feed dd, she has reflux

Hi everyone,
am feeling better this week. What a horrible overwhelming feeling that can be - I was very up and down feeling awful then feeling good!
Anyway Quinn has now got a really bad cold, bad cough and very runny nose - it's his first cold. Poor thing - he's much better today than yesterday, he slept almost all day yesterday with me waking him up for feeds.
He has now got his 3rd tooth, and the 4th isn't far away, more bottom ones.
Kel: I am still breasfeeding Quinn and it is all going fine - i love it, he only ever bit me once and I think my loud scream shocked him so much he has never done it again!
He LOVES his swimming lessons, he is splashing more and playing more and swims like a frog underwater for about a metre now. DP goes in with him because we go on Saturdays and it's a good time for them to have together. I wish I was in your area I would be at mums and bubs yoga with you in a second!!!
We turned Quinn's carseat around about 5 weeks ago - he is much happier facing forwards because he can see more and doesn't crack it as much. and it's great not to have those straps to catch his legs on :)
Anyway time for me to go clean up a bit while Quinn is still asleep.
hi everyone!!!
-
Kirsten - Quinn's amazing - another tooth already and swimming for a meter!!! I wish I'd started Bella in swimming lessons, but the only indoor pool here you've got to walk outside and I really don't think I can do that! Will definitely get her into a class in summer, seeing as we have a pool. I also remember some of what they taught me when Bri was a bub. I'm so glad you're feeling better now.
Kel - If I lived over your way, I'd be there in a second for baby yoga! That sounds like so much fun and I know Bella would love it.
Ryn - I puree everything for Bella. Mainly becuase I'm scared she'll choke on it! Sometimes her pumpkin has a couple of little lumps, but she gets through it ok.
Me - I usually give Bella what I think she needs and not til she vomits! She's officially not 6 months until next week, so I'm just "going with the flow" for now. I will probably get into more of a routine from next week. I tried to give Bella apple yesterday. She much prefers pumpkin! Oh well. I think I need to start giving her more too, because she wolfed it all down tonight and it was gone in five minutes!
Needles are booked in for next Thursday. I'll definitely be buying the patches again - they were wonderful last time!
Better go and sort out dinner. See ya!
-
what's these patches? and that reminds me to book elouise in for her jabs
-
Hi Catherine
They're Emla patches. They numb the spot where the needles go in. You can just buy the cream but I think it's a bit messier. I found the patches convenient. They're around $8.95 each and I got one for each leg. The doctor told me it was a lot easier for her to inject her as well, as Bella hadn't tensed up like the first time. Also, there was a LOT less swelling and bruising.
-
Michelle - Harrison prefers pumpkin to apple also!!! He prefers most veggies to fruit... just like his mummy!!!
Today we bought Harrison a bath seat thingy so that he can have baths sitting up with us... he used it for the first time in the bath tonight with Madeleine and he loved it.
He is soooooo close to crawling properly!!! He gets up on his knees and hands... and then moves his legs, then hands... makes small crawling movements, then gives up and squirms his way around... he is quick too... we've gotta watch where we step now!!! lol
ETA- there are some pics of him trying to crawl properly on his site.

thanks for the info, impatient. unfortunately i can't use them. made an appointment last night and they had an opening this morning so its a little late. my fault, she should have been immunised last week anyway. she usually just gets upset at the pain but then gets fed and sleeps a lot that day. she'll be ok.
and then, not keeping a good eye on the time, missed the bus. luckily she can have it this arvo. then i might be able to get those patches.

Hi ladies,
Sorry i have been MIA just trying to find time to get on the computer!! I need to buy a laptop..
Jett is going well, He is almost out of 00 clothes. No teeth, although he has discovered that he can roll to get places, trying to get onto his hands and knees, eating heaps he is on solids too, he has been for a while, i am trying to get him to eat more than custards tho, he likes vegies too but not as much. I dont over feed him, as soon as he looses interest thats it, no more.
I have started netball, trying to get a bit fit, i have lost more weight, i am 4kgs under my pre preg weight... I am feeling alot better within myself these days.
Jett is still not sleeping through the night, although it has gone from waking twice a night to once. So thats good..
Better go Jett waking up...

Another tooth!!!!
A top one this time - he now has 3 bottom teeth and a top one, the top one ha been hard work - poor bugger has had an awful time with it coming through - he even woke up at 3am last night!!!
-
Oh Kirsten... James got all his teeth through real quick... poor little Quinn, I hope the next one doesn't cause him too much pain.... yay for another tooth though!!!
-
Hi Ladies,
Kirsten - yay for another tooth. I can feel something sharp on Erin's gums so I think that may be a little tooth coming through in the not so distant future. Sounds like you have a real water baby there with Quinn.
Jen - Hi Sweet great to hear from you. Congrats on the weight loss. I have loved playing netball. We have our finals next week. Erin is happy as long as she can see me playing! My biggest supporter!
Cate - Hope bubs imunisation goes ok for you both.
Lisa - Seen those bath seat and they look relly good. Erin is so wriggly and slippery at the moment so may have to invest in one of those.
Michelle - Those patches sound like a great idea, will have to look at getting some of those for Erin when she has her next jabs.
Smylie - I would definently coem to yoga if I was in Brisbane. ( Lived there briefly at Enoggera when I was in the Army) They sound great.
Ryn - What a good appetite you bub has!
Erin has a runny nose and a bit of a cough at the moment so was up a few times with her last night. Most nighst she wakes once at 2.30 for a 15 min feed then sleeps through to about 7ish. So not so bad. She settles straight away after a feed so that is good. Met up with a few girlfriends when I went up to Perth on the weekend. We were talking about breastfeeding ( none of them did) and one asked when will I stop and then said " Well Kristy as long as you are not feeding her when she has teeth and can talk". Had to bite my toungue and tell them what I really thought, I just replied " I will keep feeding her until one of us doesn't want to anymore".
Anyhow Miss Erin is now awake so must go, Take Care

dd's jabs went well. didn't get the patches, i wasn't going out twice. she did well, cried but i put her in the hugabub and finished the feed. she then slept for an hour. she cried herself into a nap earlier, and is feeling better. teething doesn't help. good on you kristy!
-
Hey hey
i had better ring the baby doc and find out if he will do the jabs or if i need to go to gp or clinic next week as well... i already have jemima booked in at clinic for 6 month check but i think they do the jabs at certain times of the day for all the babies maybe once a week or something and every other time i have taken her to gp for jabs... didnt love the experience last time coz jemima bled a bit and had BIG lumps and bruising for a couple of weeks afterwards.....
GUESS WHAT!? Jemima rolled over, and properly none of this flipping over thing some other babies i'm around are doing... it was a calculated roll over, she did it twice so far but i didnt see the first time just came out and she was very happy on her belly looking pretty satisfied she was at the toy she had wanted, then after that benji got home and she did it again, then it was shower and bedtime so have no idea if she would have kept doing it or not....
and guess what else?
Isabella and Jemima went shopping today!!
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...4101&protype=1 hopefully that link works to the bellybelly photo gallery and then the smylie album.... if not go to the bellybelly photo thing and look up smylie....
i have posted photos of Isabella and Jemima chatting...
there are also some photos of jemima eating pumpkin and smiling and going for gold with her sippercup.
Jemima and Isabella seemed to get on quite well.... I think Jemima made fun of Isabella having to pose for the baby in the vase photo and then Isabella made fun of Jemima's hair..... heheheehe Isabella is so cute and has such LONG hair!!! Michelle you will have to take a photo (or 2 or 3) of Isabella's new sunnies... just TOO cute.... It was great to meet you in real life too!
lisa what is your email address i have found the cutest feeding sets on ebay that i think your little punk will love! i am very close to buying jemima one but they may just be too goth for her....
-
my email address is robandlisa@hotmail.com
How great that you and Jemima met Michelle and Miss Isabella!!!
I'm running off to check out the pics now ;)
Woo hoo for Jemima rolling!!! How exciting for you Kell!
Now, you've just gotta learn how to dress her mid roll! lol... Harrison rolls everywhere... I checked on him this morning in his cot, and he was on his tummy!!! He'd rolled over in his sleep... it freaked me out so he slept in with us for the rest of the night.
-
Helloooo everyone!
Yay Kel for Jemima rolling over! I think Isabella must have told her how much fun it is, and she decided to give it a try! I'll take a picture of Isabella with her new cool shades when she wakes up. I've put them on her a couple of times and she looks at me like, "what on earth are you doing??". Funny!
Catherine - glad the jabs went well.
Kristy - poor Erin with a cold. It makes life so much harder for them!
Lisa - your Harrison is one very clever boy! I think Brianna was only about 2 days past 6 months when she started to crawl. Bella's a LONG way off! Probably just as well I think! Oh! And I can vouch for the feeding set Kel found - it is sooo cute! Kel, have you worked out what the eyes are??
Me - I had my first drinking session in a year last night and I'm very happy to say I don't have a hangover, even though I was pretty much blotto! It was a great night and Bella was a good girl for Daddy. He checked on her before he went to bed and he freaked because she'd rolled onto her tummy and had fallen asleep. I'm not too fussed on that happening, although Bri was rolling from 9 weeks through the night.
As you all know, Kel, Jemima, Isabella and I had lunch and went shopping together yesterday. Bella and Jem were so cute together and kept checking each other out! Thanks to Kel, I've just realised you can upload photos onto this site. Duh! Looks like I'll have to copy and do the same some time today, in between mothering.
I had fed Bella some rice cereal the other day and put her on her blankie on the floor to go and get a cloth to wipe her face clean. When I returned, her face was spotless. It took me a second to realise that Fluffy (the dog) had licked her face clean. Ewww! Bella was all smiles! (She LOVES Fluffy!)
Bella has two cubes of pumpkin mixed with rice cereal and formula for dinner now, so she's beginning to want more, which is good (and somewhat messy!).
That's it from me I think. Have a good weekend everyone!
