Hey Ladies,
BrendansMUM _ Yeah, on the rolling over. WTG that's awesome. Does he give you a big smile when he does it? It's so impressive beacuse they know they've done a great thing.
SMYLIE _ How is Jem now? She is a little skinny minny isn't she? & is that quite long? She must be tall & thin, the lucky devil.
LISA _ My goodness, I hope that you're going to be alright, what you've got doesn't sound fun at all. When is your scan?
ME )_ Sorry just a quick one, I'll write more tonight when the kids are in bed, Claudia is having a better day after the two steaming hot days that we have just had. I'll have to do her stats for all you guys & Yes, Claudia is a hot chippy lover too! So we are ALL bad mummy's! PMSL.
Love Jayne

Yay for Brendan rolling over, well done him.
Christie, DS prefers food to milk if it's available. So upsetting the first time he shot off and grabbed a biscuit.
Lisa, I hope you are all right. I know I get pains from where DS has used me as a teether, is Harry into human teethers/blood because the vampires got him?
Kel, DS coves clapping the floor, my hand and kitchen objects; I always think he's too bright to hit himself LOL. It's a proper slap. He loves grabbing my hand and making me hit myself too, he is such a bully.
Jayne, glad to hear Claudia is better.
DS had his 9 month assessment yesterday and he is officially clever now. He is also so active that he has gained no weight in 3 weeks - the HV said she could see it was activity, he was walking/cruising and bouncing everywhere, but she did get a list of what I feed him every day and said to up the fats. And that it is fine to give him the odd bit of home-made toffee and chips (I wanted to prove that I was trying to fatten him up a bit).
So what does everyone elses' babies eat? Here is Liebling's menu:
Morning breastfeed, toothpaste then breakfast of baby cereal (4-5tbspn) followed by toast if he wants it.
Snack at 10ish of biscuits and water.
Lunch of what I have (cheese sandwich, pasta in tomato sause with tuna and cheese, risotto...) until he's bored, then apple/pear and feed
Snack midafternoon of fruit/bisuits and a feed, he usually snacks all afternoon going walk-snack-walk-snack until 5pm.
Dinner at 6.15-6.30, again, he eats what we are having (he loves garlic bread!) then porridge with full-fat cow juice. Toothpaste then feed before bedtime.
Sometimes a feed overnight.
Also, last night her upstairs moved out, they had their final huge row, slung furniture around, slammed doors, stomped (I'm thinking I now know why Liebs was waking so much!) and DH filled me in that him upstairs has been cheating on her. He owns the flat, so he stays. Also he has been bunking off work and doing drugs, says DH... am I the only person in the world who doesn't smell drugs on people? DS slept 8-9-9.30 (then slept in my arms in the sitting room for a half hour until the worst of the stomping finished), woke for a feed and tried to play at 4, then up just after 7. Well done him!

Sorry girls, skimmed reading, bloody tired, El has hit another milestone! Her teeth have just cut through today. Only found out when I stuck my finger in her mouth to see how they felt. Just broken through so I'm not saying she has teeth until they pop up just that bit more. My mate said that it explains her several dribble vomits today, half on me. But she wasn't terribly teething today but one grumpy bum! If only it was more obvious, poor darl, I would have given her Teething Relief sooner (LOOOOOOOOOVE that stuff!). Must go to bed, got a job interview at a Childcare place tomorrow, excited!!!
Love yas all (I don't really say "yas" much, lol) xxxxx
-
yeah for elouise's toothy pegs!!! which one?? teeth teeth teeth - i know what you mean about wishing you knew it was teeth so you could give teething relief! jemima has always been sick or too young to be getting teeth so i never get to use the teething stuff on her! once we knew it was teeth but the virus she had meant if i gave her bonjella it would hurt her more IF she got ulcers in her mouth so i didnt want to risk hurting her so had to resort to cuddles!
lisa - how is your weightloss going?? with all these other things happening with your body it must be hard to keep 'on track' when do you find out what it is that is painful and when can they fix it???
ryn - yeah for pubert being offically clever, i got same kind of report with jem today at nurse but she was not a very nice nurse she actually compared jem a bit to the 18month old that had just left and said how much better jem was in most ways development wise - not very nice really but good to know jem is up there doing all the'right' things..... yogurt is a big part of jemima's diet, i notice that was not on pubert's menu...?
kirsten - quinn so clever - i think bella claps too - hmmmm how to get my child clapping her own hands not everything else......... jemima does high five, down low, on the side, and the other side and then SO FUNNY AND CUTE when i say up high she just claps down on my hand up higher rather than hitting my hand from below.... very wrong and very cute....... did quinn get his back teeth after his front 6 or his bottom 2 beside the first ones they get? apparently jemima getting her back teeth...... teeth teeth teeeth
jayne - i just noticed jessica's birthday is my wedding anniversary and it is soon! what are you doing for her birthday?
we have swimming lessons tomorrow, hoping jemima continues what she was doing last week and gets better at the monkey bar thing... she has to monkey monkey along the bar on the edge of the pool... i think that is almost the only thing holding her from moving up a class she swims for ages under the water and splashes and stuff at all the right times... but moving up a class may mean a different teacher and that i would have a different time maybe and at the moment swimming fits in perfectly with pub lunch with my friend who works near swimming.... hmph to being flexible..... hmph to having to get changed in humid change room every week with baby screaming with clingyness unless being distracted
-
SMYLIE _ You crack me up about swimming fitting in perfectly with pub lunch! LOL. I have to say though, changing teachers is a hassle we had with Jessica. She had the same teacher from 6m - 18m & then we changed teachers every term until this term (right before she is 3), I finally got her back into her original teachers class. Now she is settled & doing fantastic at swimming again. She can swim about 10m on her own & is learning freestyle now. But when we were changing teachers every term, she was a nightmare, she wouldn't do anything, wouldn't let the teacher take her, cried, you name it, but now she is going great again. So I'm in two minds of Claudia changing teachers regularly so she copes with change or keeping her with the same teacher throughout? Hmmm, decisions! Jessica's birthday, well the actual night is a Wednesday which is the night that we usually go to the IL's for dinner so my MIL has kindly offered to still do dinner @ her place, but cater for my parents & my sister & her family so that I don't have to cook for everybody, which is great of her. But I'm having a party for her on the Sunday & I've been so stuck with what to get her it's not funny. she's not a real dolly kind of girl which is what I initially thought I'd get her, so I got her the hi-5 drum kit, guitar, microphone & keyboard. I'll kick myself when she is making a hell of a noise, but hi-5 is her FAVE so she will love that. & I've also hired her a bouncy castle for the party. She has some books, clothes & little nick-nacks as well, but the bouncy castle & the musical stuff is the big ticket items! I've just done a list of her friends for her party & there is 22 of them! My goodness!
MUMMYCATE_ WTG El on the toothy pegs! Clever little chicken that you are!! I bet you got a shock when you stuck your finger in her mouth & got a sharp bit!
RYN _ Oh my, nothing like a good fisty in the middle of the night. We used to have smashing neighbours as well. makes for interesting listening that's for sure. they lived across the road & I never had to eavesdrop to hear what they were fighting about. the woman had fantastic lungs on her. I'm glad one half of the problem is moving out though, hopefully it's quiet now!
TASHIE _ I'm going ok without Alan here, it's pretty chilled at our place. I'm actually busy cleaning out old clothes that I never wear, throwing out the old linenm & all that kind of stuff. I endeavour to do somethign resourceful each night. Tonight I"m meant to be starting the birthday invitations for Jessica's party, but I have just got on msn with a gf, so there goes that. LOL. How is your little fella?
Ok, I'll have a go @ Claudy's stats
CLAUDIA
ROLLING OVER: Yep, has been for ages
TEETH: Yep, the two middle bottom ones, no sign of anymore, gums are very soft
CRAWLING: Yes, since about 6.5 months I think
STANDING: Pulling herself to standing, but not standing without holding onto anything & today has just started coasting around the bathtub to get to the toys
SLEEPING THROUGH: You've got to be kidding me
WAVING: Yes, but with two hands atm, have to work on that
CLAPPING: Yes, but has only done it a couple of times (sunday was the first)
WORDS: Mum-Mum, Oh Dad-Dad, Ta & Nanna (Nanna happened last night the first time)
SOLIDS: Solids has been hard for us, Claudia had a very shaky start. She is only just starting to eat 3 times per day. I have been offering for ages, but she has only been eating breakfast & dinner, but slowly we are getting there. She is a big fan of yoghurt, pumpkin-broccoli-sweet potato puree, sausages, hot chips, apples, pears, strawberries & vegemite on bread. She has only just started to do lumps. She likes finger food, but more to play with it rather than eat it! Oh & we've just started with sultanas, they are great for fine-motor skills too!
US _ We are going ok, only Claudia has started this stupid clingy thing, where there is really no need because it's only ME at home with her! LOL. she cries when I leave the room & really slaps her hands on the floor when she is crawling after me! well I must go & put the mop away. jessica went to her Nanna's for a sleepover tonight! WOO HOO says me!!!
Love Jayne

Ellie's teeth are the two bottom front ones. They aren't visible above the gums but I can feel the sharp ridge. Jeez I'm hungry. And tired. So congrats to the bubbies with achievements and to mummies with achievements. Insert compliment to mum/bub here. LOL. Too tired, too many headaches. Had a job interview, went so well, I think I have the job but need to sort out childcare for Ellie and get centrelink forms for childcare fee assistance etc. Yeah. Its a position for trainee at a childcare centre, and I'll be training for a diploma in children's services. After 12 months, I'll have a cert 3 and I want to continue for the diploma. Good on me! Wow I never expected to get the job. Man I'm hungry. Gotta go.
-
cate - can you not bring elouise to the childcare centre you will be working at?? what an awesome job... and how cool will it be to have your own pay and own money so you can buy tupperware! i could never work in a childcare centre, looks crazy!!! so so funny your "insert compliment here" bit heheheeheh lmao
jemima is so much more fun now that she is crawling, she thinks she is so damn clever!!!! and is able to do so much more and get to her toys and now i really know which ones SHE really likes and wot not
better go hubby just got home
janye - jumping castle makes you coolest mum ever
-
RYN - I forgot to tell you, I make Claudia's food with Cow's Milk as well. I was too scared to post because everybody in here are such good mummy's!! LOL. So we are both BAD!
-
SMYLIE _ Yes, I am officially the COOLEST mum on the planet.
MUMMYCATE_ WTG on the job! Wow, that's awesome. A job & training at the same time! Could you put Ellie into the childcare centre that you're going to work at? Is it full time?
-
heheheeheh i've been using cow's milk in jem's cereal since she started having it at a week before she was 5 months, i could not be bothered expressing and not gonig to buy formula just for cereal and water and farex tasted like glue to me! i've been trying to get jem to drink more and more of it but she is not as keen on milk in a cup as i would like her to be.......... there is one nurse at the clinic who is SO SO ANTI cowsmilk she reckons it is the reason her son has asthma........... isnt it funny that we do stuff to/for our babies which we obviously think about and does not harm our babies but we are so afraid of being bad mothers we dont say anything - yet we are doing it?? heheheheheheheheheh
-
HI girls. For those of you that give sandwiches, do you use margarine or butter as well? What stuff do you put on the sandwiches? I'm looking for ideas because we're off to the beach this weekend and I figured sandwiches were going to be sooo much easier to do than heated up vegies!!
As for cow's milk, the book I got from the hospital says we can use it in food/cooking, etc now as long as it's not their main drink so I don't think there's anything to worry about! Just think about what they had to do before formula came in for those who couldn't bf?? I've given milk in food a couple of times, but Bella's solids intake isn't all that big so I'm not using much.
She has only a couple of spoons of farex or half a weetbix (weetbix is softened with hot water and I add cow's milk) for breakfast (with almost a full bottle), a bottle at morning tea, vegies and some kind of meat and veg in a jar with another bottle, bottle for arvo tea, then meat/vegies for dinner and maybe a topup bottle before bed. The quantity of solids very small too, but she's still got those cute rolls on her legs and she's happy and healthy, so I'm not too concerned. I think the bottles are sustaining her!
She sits with us when we eat dinner and we give her stuff like broccoli, cheese or cruskits, or if we're having takeaway we have to give her hot chips or there's hell to pay!!! We're having a very boring bangers and mash tonight so will see how she goes with that!
Have a great day everyone!
-
MICHELLE _ I do put margarine on sandwiches for Claudia. She loves vegemite sandwiches & sometimes I make cheesy's for her too. Isabella sounds like she is getting enough, she's sleeping well & like you said she's happy & content, so I don't think her little fairy serves of food are bothering her! Did she love the sausages? Claudia goes ape over sausages. She also loves sucking on a piece of steak. I used to make Jessica those french cutlets when she was that age & she'd lick this piece of steak on a bone like a lollypop, but I can never find them in the stores to buy them for Claudia.
I have to go, Jessica has gastro. The poor chicken has been throwing up since 3am. It's been a nightmare. She's asleep atm, but if she's still going when she wakes I'm going to have to take her to the Dr or the hospital because she's soooo very pale & can't even keep water down. I dont' want her to end up dehydrated.
I hoep you are all having a great day!
-
Yes I have the job! I start as soon as I can. Can't next week as Terry has exams and we can't get her into the centre on tues and wed, so I'll start week after and MIL can look after her on thurs as Terry has an exam. So this all works out and we won't need childcare for Ellie until Terry starts uni again. I went to work today for a trial run and it was great! I worked with the 18mth to 3yr group until midday and then with the bubbies until 2pm when I finished. So because I would be working with both groups, Ellie can't go to that centre. Which is ok, coz by the time its Feb, we'll have her childcare sorted out.
Ellie's teeth are coming up. So she has two!!! Poor chickadee is grumpy and has sore gums. Been a bit off her milk and food but we just keep offering and she takes what she wants.
Got my first aid training tomorrow and WIRES (native animal rescue) over the w/e. So I'm pretty darn busy now.
Wow I have another headache coming on and still have to finish my workbook for tomorrow and got some other stuff to do online so I better stop gasbagging and get going.
Love to all xxx
-
And poor Jessie, gastro isn't fun. Have you tried the gastrolyte iceblocks on her? Ask at the chemist about gastro rehydration drinks and iceblocks. Good luck at the doc.
-
Hi girls,
I probably wont be on here very often over the next week or so. My DH kindly used up all our downloads, so the computer is soooo slow and as we all know, our time is precious. That and the fact that we still haven't got our computer blocked off to our crawling munchkin. ATM I have Tobi sitting in his high chair next to me, so he isn't at my feet sucking my toes like he was this morning when I tried to get on here.
Big News!!!! Tobi pulled himself up so he was standing up in the bath tonight. Yeah!!! My big boy is growing up. And he has perfected the wave and actually waves all the time now...most of the time to nothing in particular, but he will wave back too.
What does Tobi eat?
Breaky - A few teaspoons of yogurt with weetbix. I am sure if I just gave him yogurt, he'd eat more of it.
Snacks - Plain Cruskit and fruit juice icey-poles and water.
Lunch - Salad and fruit. Depending on what I am eating. Once again not a lot...maybe 1/2 banana
Dinner - Vegies and a bit of meat
He really doesn't eat a lot and I have to cut his lumps up really small, but at least he is eating. I am trying him with everything at the moment (except hot chips- have to get him to eat good food first). Oh and I have to stick it in his mouth for him. His pincer grip isn't very effective yet and even though he can get the food to his mouth, he ends up dropping it down his front. He doesn't pick it up right. And if the food doesn't break down easily in his mouth, then he ends up sucking on it for hours. The other day I gave him some mince and he still had it in there about three hours later, even after a breast feed. He still will eat some pureed food, but mainly the sweet ones I think. Favourites at the moment are mango, especially sucking on the seed, Vegemite and cheese on toast (with butter), cruskits, icey-poles, cheese, beetroot, banana, yogurt and meat. And he only has boobie three times a day, both sides. How much water does your babies drink? Tobi struggling a little doing number 2s, and I think I need to get a little more fluid into him. He doesn't seem interested when I offer though. As far as cows milk, I haven't done it yet. Tobi isn't a fan of the formula in the farex, so I am holding off on trying cow's juice (as Ryn puts it...very cute), he always just has water added.
Michelle - I am glad to hear the my bub isn't the only one that is eating only small amounts. I figure that if they are happy, then they are OK.
Jayne - I am really sorry to hear the Jessica is sick, especially with your man away. I can't not handle vomit, so am dreading the day when my little man throws up like a big boy. I think that is when the grandparents are going to have to come and visit. ..Jumping Castle for Jessica's party. That sounds awesome. I hope that she is all better by then. I can't wait to do kids parties and making cakes.
Kel - I think you might be right about the cold food, especially now that it is getting hotter. Will give it a go, and see what he thinks....also in relation to Ryn and yogurt, I noticed while I was in London last year that they don't have nearly as much daily stuff over there as we do. I was so shocked. It mustn't be a 'big thing' over there. Is that true Ryn? Either that or they just don't have as many cows!!!
Ryn - Way to go Liebling. First Steps. That is fantastic. You must be beaming with pride and joy.
Christie - I am glad to hear that DS is better. Tobi loves beetroot because I think he can suck on it and yummy juices come out. He does have a bit of purple drool afterwards though. It does come out clothes, but I feed it to him, so he doesn't get it everywhere unless he spits it back out. As far as cheese is concerned, I just give him what we have - Bega So Light. How is the workouts going? I'm too lazy and poor for a gym. Tobi and I walk an hour a day, not that I am losing any weight.
Lisa - How did your ultrasound go? Hope they can give you something for the pain and work out whats going on.
Catherine - How did the interview go at the Childcare place? When are you thinking about going back to work? The job sounds great. I hope it all works out. Wow to go El for her tooth. Now she wont have any problems with the lumps.
Back to my DH...he is fantastic with Tobi, plays and laughs with him. But as soon as he is sookie, then thats it, he wont try to calm him down. I don't think he tries to listen to Tobi and find out what he wants. That and he is very good at tuning him out. I think he is a fantastic Dad, just needs work on the parenting. This weeks goal is trying to get him to stop leaving his phone charger plugged in where Tobi can come and suck on it.
Take Care all

Hi girls!
Congrats on the job, Cate!
re: being a bad mummy for food: pie and chips. Oh yeah. Liebs has eaten pie and chips! DH was out fishing and I just couldn't cope cooking (I actually didn't want to eat again) so compromised on oven-ready food. For sandwiches, Liebs just has bread and cheese seperate, he does eat my sandwiches if he can, but can't get them in his mouth that easily.
Tash and Kel, fresh food is odd here. Most people go to the supermarket every 2-3 weeks so you only have fresh maybe 10 days of the month, the rest freezer. Since stopping work I go to the greengrocer's and butcher's daily, if needed, so we have more fresh in. But yoghurt is an every other week thing for us - I love it, but it's just buying it and getting a good yoghurt, not a low-fat one. London is even worse. Fresh food is reserved for the sandwich bars, it seems.
gtg, he has awoken!
-
Hey Lovely Ladies,
I'll come back in later & post properly, but we were at hospital with Jessica until 9pm last night. She just couldn't stop the vomiting. I took her to the GP & after she vomited 4 times in the waiting room (only waited 10 minutes) & 3 times while he was looking her over, he gave us a letter & sent us to hospital. In the end they tried a nasal gastric tube to feed her but inserted it incorrectly & it ended up in her LUNG. Talk about stressing me out! After that went wrong, they gave her some pill under her tongue & although she still has the runs REALLY bad, she isn't vomiting. She is very lethargic, teary & in pain with her tummy cramping up today. My mum came & helped me & thank the lord that Claudia slept ALL night last night! WOO HOO!
I've got to go, I"m off to the shops to get Jessica some icypops & some bread etc... today is shopping day & of course I have no food.
Love Jayne
-
I hope she feels better soon! Poor lil darling.
-
oh jayne that sounds dreadfull, poor little chicken....
ryn - yippe for pubert walking!!!!! that is so cool, if my strange child tried standing up near furniture we could be getting close instead she tries to stand up in the middle of the room - not very successful but looks damn cute!
tashie - i was thinking of you today... i think our babies are exactly the same in so many ways!! i have kinda figured jemima out... the food thing... she is NOT a big eater not at all but if i split the meal up into two sittings i have more success.... ie she eats half a can and then about 2 hours later she has the other half.... same amount of food i bet as the other babies just in smaller doses...... worth a try??
this morning AWESOME baby back again, slept til 7am and then ATE BREAKFAST lots of it and then had FIRST b/feed at 9.30!!!!! that was after going to bed normalish time last night! BUT we got woken up by our 3 dogs barking .....murphys law
my friend had her baby this morning (i was there when the pains started so so exciting) anyhow she named her ODELLA awesome name, beautiful baby! my friend was worried i'd think she had slept with benji coz Odella is 57cm and we know no other little girl born 57cm except Jemima and she has a mop of black hair just like jemima so so funny (but has normal feet not flippers like jemima)
have a great weekend - cate you sound so so busy! we are going to dentist for ourselves so will get Jemima to sit in the seat and have dentist look at her pearly whites - smylie wylie's first dentist visit!
-
Ellie's tooth has come up so I can actually see it, and there's just one there. So one tooth for now. I did my senior first aid today, was easy. Got WIRES tomorrow. Its all the way at Picton, about 1.5 hours away. So instead of getting T to drive me at 7am when he finishes work after midnight tonight, I'll head out west to Penrith to meet another lady and we'll carpool. So two looooooong days ahead of me. T has been a bit of a bum to me. He hardly talks to me, when I finally get home, and hasn't touched me at all in 2 days. And I asked him if he still loves me, and after 30 seconds looking at me, he didn't say anything. How does that make me feel? What am I supposed to do? I'm out all day catching buses or trains and working or studying and do I have to make all the conversation and effort to be with him? Yes of course I do! (sarcasm). I want to get some vinyl and iron-on labels for Ellie's things for when she has to be in care and what does he want me to do? Use a permanent marker. So on her clothes, her name or initials will be there forever. And now its not good enough to be sold or passed onto other family members. But iron-on labels can be removed (I think so, its a glue). And vinyl labels will stay on longer than permanent marker. But hey, he's the boss, even though I will buy them. God, why does he want to be such a cheapskate? Its getting worse. I don't know what to do with him. Sometimes I catch myself thinking that I might fall in love with someone new. When we met he was not like this. Its so hard for me to go through every day pinching pennies to make him happy. When we don't have any financial difficulties. No debt. So what's his problem?
Enough about me, OMG poor Jessie! How can they botch an NG tube like that? Only someone who's never done it before would do that. Or someone who's not supposed to. Ellie isn't eating or drinking as much milk as she should, but her gums are hurting her a heap. We just keep offering.
I have to go to bed, early start. Ghastly 5am. Groooaaaaan....
-
cate - terry seems a teeny bit like benji when it comes to saving money... but he doesnt fight it if i find it important enough to argue.... he would do the same thing with the labels, sometimes there are things that you should NOT discuss and just go out and buy...... benji likes to save money in everyway possible but i find it frustrating sometimes the stuff around that saving money takes, or get sick to death of the dodgy things i have to do coz benji is saving a penny here or there.... it could be a being a "man" thing, when i met benji he lived at home so being with me is the first time he has had to run a household or whateva so maybe they are feeling pressure and think they have to save money not looking at big picture?
another AWESOME night sleep for jemima and i am realizing that before the last two nights of 6-7am wakeups she was doing 4-5am wake up and that there is nothing wrong with that anyway so i am feeling heaps better, was SICK to death of hearing about neighbours baby sleeping from bedtime to 6.30 but now am feeling great coz jem is doing basically the same without me fighting her all day to nap... i never fight her to nap unless she tells me she really wants to sleep but keeps forgetting
-
SMYLIE _ We're so on the same page. I just started with Claudia to give her dinner @ 6 & then at 8pm give her a tub of yoghurt, simply because she doesn't eat enough to get her through the night - hence the wake-ups for a booby feed. BTW my kids are VERY naughty & go to bed at 9pm. It was a habit I started with them when Alan first went away so I could keep them up so he could see them on Skype. I'm slowly getting them into bed earlier, last night was 8:30 for Claudia. Jessica was basically asleep the whole day, the poor chicken is so exhausted.
CATE_ WTG on the job, you sound so pumped for it, it's great! How is little El going with Mummy being out getting clever? Who is looking after her? I'm not sure what to say to your man, except SCROOGE MCDUCK. LOL. In all honesty, Alan & my fights are ALWAYS about finances or sex so I know where you are coming from. WTG on the tooth for Miss El! That's great. It's so cute when you are spoon feeding them & you hear the tooth chink on the spoon or glass (Claudia is into sipping water from my glass atm).
TASHIE _ I always had a hard time with Jessica & water, but Claudia loves it. Have you tried it in all different types of cups, spouts, etc...? If he's breastfed I'm not sure that water is so much of an issue??? I dunno? Sorry but I PMSL about the mince still in his mouth after a breastfeed & 3 hours had passed. Eeewwww. Yep, Birthday Parties are fun, but EXHAUSTING! I'm doing her invitations today, hopefully!
ME_ Jessica is finally on the mend. The poor little muffin still has the runs but she isn't vomiting & she is soooooo exhausted. She basically slept all day yesterday & she slept with me again last night & is still asleep now. She ate about 10 cheese & bacon balls, but that's all she's eaten so far. She is sipping water & apple juice, so at least something is going in. Claudia LOVED being at the hospital, she chatted & laughed & played the whole day. The nurses loved her & she started saying 'hello'. Plain as day. This morning she drank through a straw for the 1st time ever. Everything is happening. She is also started to walk around the spa holding onto the edge when she is in there so she can get to the toys. Man, Alan is missing so much stuff, it's sad. I've got Rage on the TV at the moment & she is standing up at the computer desk bopping away & laughing at me. Cheeky muffin!

Hi everyone :)
I have been busy over the last few days, shamelessly plugging my brothers band in every way I can... They have released a film clip and they have it on a website called WotNext (it is a .au site)... there is a comp where if they stay at number #1, they will win the $50,000 prize which is a recording package and another film clip... plus the film clip for Realize will be shown on MTV and Rage (Jane reminded me of it when I saw she was watching Rage! lol)
So... if you wanna check it out, go to the web site I mentioned and in the search part, type in Realize... the band is called Head of State... my brother is the singer!!!
Besides that... I have bronchitis... fantastic!! I am so annoyed... I hate being sick... and it seems like the last few weeks, I have been nothing but.
I will do personals later :)
-
hey hey
i watched the video clip it LOOKS cool, when jem is not trying to go to sleep i may listen to it to Lisa... heheheeh
michelle i want help with sandwiches too, jemima ALWAYS has yogurt for lunch, if i am having a sandwich she eats the bread or whatever when we are out but i have not actually brought sandwiches with me for her.... i'd be thinking vegemite hmmmmm ???
lisa - bronchitis sucks especially when the weather is getting better, it is a winter sickness so i think you need to have a chat with that body of yours....

Whoa.... I think I've been reading since page 3 of this thread (skimming some of it...)!!!
Yes, I have been gone a while, thanks for thinking of me Tash, and thanks Cate for letting everyone know I'd been away.... not many excuses for this week, other than the fact that the devil has possessed my child and we've had a shocking and exhausting week......
She's not sick, though she does have conjunctivitis which I sat on for a couple of days, but got a/b's for today, so we dont know what's going on, but she is fighting sleep at every possible occasion, but is tired, screaming etc.... you all know the drill!
On a brighter note, Cairns was wonderful! Just a pity I had to come back to reality.... maybe that's whats wrong with Monkey too.... she just wants to go back to live the tropical life!
And a very belated welcome to Brendan's Mum!
Not much energy to write much tonight, but HUGE congrats to you Catherine on the job!!!
I'm sure you're all over this milestone update, but I'll do Monkey's rundown soon; the only really exciting thing she does is talking (mama, baba, dada, bye bye and various other ramblings that I wish I understood) but not as much as Harrison!
Love to all

KYM _ Welcome back to the land of the living! LOL. I hope Monkey sorts herself out very soon for you. Sorry to hear about the conjunctivitis, it's going around in droves it seems. I hope it clears up for her soon. My dr told me as well as the eye drops to wipe milk in their eyes, just cows milk if your'e not breastfeeding is fine too. I did that with mine & it seemed to really help.
SMYLIE _ I had the same issue with Claudia & her love of yoghurt. I should have explained, but what I do with sandwiches is cut off all the crusts, use a rolling pin to flatten the bread a little, add the marg & vegemite & then roll it up & give it to her that way. It saves lots of mess & then she eats the whole thing. Maybe it's worth a try? Good luck!
ME_ My parents are coming to visit us today, so that's good. I'm still not ready to take Jessica out in case she is not over all her germs. I took them for a little walk in the pram though yesterday. Jessica laid in the back of the pram & Claudia sat in the toddler seat again. She thinks that's AWESOME!

SMYLIE _ Oh no, I hope the beautiful Jem isn't coming down with a virus or something **** ssssh baby girl, wishing you nice dreams ****

Liebs has FOUR TEETH! Both bottom middle and top outer middle (if that makes sense) - his mouth looks so odd! BTW, I would say bottom first incisors and top second incisors if I could spell incisors... I can't come up with a better spelling but that just feels wrong.
Liebs also has a cold, so I sympathise with poorly babies. I always take Liebs-only toys everywhere because I don't really trust group toys - I know, silly of me, I don't mind Liebs getting some germs but I don't trust toys at the doctors, for example. I am be really strict if he is ill, but only moderately if he's not. How are Monkey and Claudia getting on?
Here is a question to make you sweat - how have you found Christmas shopping with a baby?
-
That's correct spelling Ryn.
Haven't done much Xmas shopping yet. I don't want to buy it all at once as then I'll be broke. But I will get the secret santa pressies I need before the end of the month. Everyone else, well, I have a month from now.
-
Morning all,
We did Christmas shopping yesterday and also got Quinn's first photo with Santa! That's a fun lining up experience! Quinn didn't crack it when he saw santa and was pretty chilled out during the whole experience :)
We've done all of the shopping for all the kids we need to buy for and have only got a few adult pressies to get now!
Quinn still has his 8 teeth, I thought he was getting another one there for a while - drooly, bitey, rashy etc etc, but no extra tooth to be found.
Kel: Nice one for that mum letting a contagious baby play with group toys...that's pretty selfish.
I'm loving the sound of those sandwich roll things - what a great idea, Quinn has just started eating toast, I just put some flaxseed oil (I know, I know. I am a hippy) on it and he loves it. He especially loves buckwheat and quinoa. Mango is his new favorite fruit, he didn't like it the first few times I tried him with it back when he was 6 months old. Now it's the best thing ever!
Going to be 37 here today!!! How disgusting! we will be staying indoors with the air con on - I HATE the heat!
Well we better go out and get what we need from the supermarket before it gets up there towards 37, so I'm off. Have a great day, I hope everyone who is unwell is feeling better oh and a big whooo hoooo to you Cate on the job! whoo hoooooooooooooo

Good Morning,
LOL, yes I know, tell me about it, I'm a champion on the invention of the vegemite roll for the bubs. I actually did it because I was sick of having to bath her each time I had given her a vegemite sandwich cos she rubs it into her hair & all over her face & then she drops it down her legs, etc... works a treat.
KIRSTEND _ 8 teeth??? Geepers creepers, that's a VERY big effort on Quinn's part. Hope he handles the heat well for you today, if anything, might make him have some big sleeps! That's always a good thing! LOL WOW On the santa pic, I have been telling Jessica that her & Claudy are going to be having pics with Santa soon. I have a hysterical one of Jessica last year crying her eyes out. That's awesome that he didn't freak out!
RYN _ I don't let my girls play with the toys at the Dr's either. I used to make Jessica a little picnic or take her drawing stuff to my OB appt's because sometimes we would wait for ages. When Jessica was in hospital, we wouldn't let Claudia on the floor either, it's just one of those things I guess. Today we are meant to go to playgroup & I have a feeling Jessica got the gastro from playgroup, so we are giving it a miss for today in case Jessica is still contagious or the children who she got it from are still harbouring the germs. I don't mind visiting people/children when they have coughs/colds, but not when they have more serious stuff - conjunctivitis, gastro, etc... WTG on Liebs new teeth! I have been meaning to ask, is there any sleep improvements?
I have to go, CLaudia is SUPER GRUMPY today. I think she is getting gastro. I hope not.
Love Jayne

i bring jemima's toys and feel like a dork... now i dont feel so bad!
jemima woke heaps last night hot and bothered, and then woke at 5am happy as larry for a play - NOT COOL but benji got up and played with her, fed her at 6.30am and delievered her to me for a nap in bed with me til we went to the gym, JUST gotten her to sleep again a little while ago - man is here laying vinyl so obviously THAT is more exciting than a nap
sandwiches will happen hmmmmm WEDNESDAY have decided that that is going to be sandwich roll day instead of yogurt after swimming she is having sandwiches.... very exciting...... usually it is pub lunch day but my pub lunch buddies - one overseas and one just had baby ho hum so going to call in on new baby and she can watch jemima eat sandwiches
i hope jem is not sick too.... dont want to think about it!

Hello, How was everyone's weekend? Tobi had a very...fat...weekend. We tried doughnuts, cupcakes, icecream, lollypops, hot chips and Turkish and naan bread. And the winner is....Icecream. He was sooo funny. Just kept sticking his tongue right out as if to say 'more..more...MORE!!!' and any flavour is fine, he tried four different flavours.
Meanwhile Tobi has starting to only sleeping to about 6am (on Sunday it was 5.30am). I know I shouldn't complain as he does sleep through most nights, but I was so used to getting up at 7am and now I am struggling every morning as I still feel so tired. I even went to bed at 8.30pm last night and still feel like I could sleep another three hours. But if I go back to bed now, then I wont get to sleep till late tonight.
Oh and you know how I mentioned that Tobi has been getting a little blocked up. Well yesterday he was straining so hard, he spewed and milk come out of his nose.
How does everyone feel about letting their babies crawl in public places (restaurant floors etc)?
Kel - Well done Jemima. She is such a clever girl for sleeping through. How are you feeling now, refreshed? We have the dog problem too. Our neighbours dog just doesn't stop barking...at night...he is quiet during the day. Maybe he is scared of the dark.... Is Jemima better today? I hope she hasn't come down with anything too nasty. (Sorry I wrote that this morning before I read your latest post. I am sorry you had a bad night again. Fingers crossed for tonight).
Ryn- Way to go Liebs. Four teeth. Thats insane. Great that he got them all out at once and not drag out the grumpy mood for weeks. How did he go? Was he turned off food/high temps etc? Do you think he was sick because of the teething? ... Christmas shopping with a baby. Well as often as I can I get a friend to come with me that doesn't have a baby so that if I can't take the pram into the shop, she can wait outside with Tobi. Tobi hates being in the pram all day, especially now that he is crawling, so I have been doing mine slowly over the last couple of weeks and only have 3 people to go!!!
Jayne - That idea with the Vegemite rolls sounds great. I think even Tobi might eat a sandwich like that. Does anyone else have any great ideas like that? ...How are the invites going? Are you doing anything clever? ...Also tell Claudia I said congratulations for saying hello AND walking around the spa....I hope she doesn't get gastro.
Catherine - How did WIRES go? Am very proud of you getting out and getting a job as well as being a mum and a partner. I am so lazy and scared to start work again.
Kym - Glad to hear you had a great holiday. Poor Monkey for being out of wack. Tobi was all over the place when we were on holidays. They so badly need their routines. I hope she is settled and sleeping properly again soon and if not try radio static when you are putting her down. It always sends Tobi to sleep when he is over tired...We'll have to go to the movies one day and suss out these crying rooms. Although it isn't the crying that is the problem with Tobi, it is sitting still.
Sally - How is Brendan going? Has he been rolling over some more?
Lisa - Any news on the scan and pain yet? Hope you feel better soon.
Kirsten - I have been wondering where you have been.... How are you and Quinn? 8 Teeth. I can't image. Santa. Thats awesome. I can't wait to get photos with Santa. Our local shopping centre gives you a free photo if you spend over $50 at any of the stores. So I am going to make sure I save up my dockets and get lots of photos between now and Christmas.
Christie - Does DS enjoy his walker? Someone today suggested I get one. Does anyone else have one?
Hope I haven't forgotten anyone. There is so many girls and babies to keep track of. I have been trying to finish this entry since 7am this morning (it's nearly 5pm).
Take Care all

Grrrr... I'm still sick :(
Thankfully Harrison hasn't contracted it.
It was my Mum's 50th Birthday yesterday... we went out for dinner on Saturday night for her birthday... and it was great... its not very often that all of Mum's kids and grandkids are together, but we all were and it was great.
Then yesterday we had a BBQ at her house with all of us again, plus 2 other that have "adopted" mum as their mum too.
Harrison ate everything he could get his hands on... My brother Murray couldn't stop laughing at Harrison eating everything that he eats, even though he doesn't have teeth.
My brother played his guitar and sang to us all... and it was such a nice, layed back day.
Tash - Harry has a walker... he loves it. He is trying to walk everywhere he can without the walker anyway, but we love the walker for when we need to keep him in the one area (such as when we're in the kitchen)... but it also comes in handy for us at my Mum's house... she has big verandahs around her house that we have the BBQ's on, and it is great to be able to put Harrison in his walker, and let him take off... it then doubles as somewhere for him to sit whilst we're having lunch... it is easy to put in the car because it folds down flat and doesn't take up much room.
Well... I'm off to cook some dinner... we're having home made pizza's for dinner tonight and I haven't made the base yet!! Whoops... lol

Hello everyone :)
Tashie, Brendan is rolling some more, he's still trying to get the arm out of the way to roll properly from back>front! He's also sort of caterpiller crawling, he pushes himself back, with his hands and slides on his tummy. Very cute.
-
Kel, IKWYM - I have been ultra careful to try to prevent her spreading it!
It is much better now, however, the sleeping, not so much!
And Jayne, what a cool idea for sandwiches - will definitely try, Thanks!
-
Oops, forgot to "turn" the page again!
Well, I hope I make you all jealous when I tell you that we don't really have to worry much about Chr. shopping this year, as we have informed all family and friends that we arent "doing" christmas this yr! We have cited financial reasons and are only buying for Monkey and her cousin and my best friends 2 kids. We of course want people to buy for Monkey but not us and I tell you, it feels fabulous if a little scroogy!
I haven't really had to worry about the crawling in public thing, as Monkey isn't crawling yet, but I must say, in general I probably can't be too hypocritical, as our house isn't exactly a sparkling germ-free zone!! (particularly with Tilly, who is allowed inside)....
Definitely keen for a movie..... maybe Rendition??? It might be a little loud and violent for the bubs....???

i wish we had room for me to get some kind of walking thing for jemima, not a thing she sits in with wheels though, i want one of the push around things for her, she pushes heaps of stuff around trying to stand up inthe middle of everything so i think she'd love it but the only area big enough for her to do it has a shag pile rug..... my house SO not baby friendly
i'm trying to find the book that i have with kids recipes in it - they have pinwheel sandwiches so i am trying to remember what was on them.... avocado was sounding familar...... it has them cut up into wheels not just a big roll which i am going to try wednesday
jem only just went to bed at about 8.30 tonight after another strange day today... had a nap this morning and was pretty good and then a wee little nap after lunch and then a sleep on me at 5pm but when she woke at 5.30pm she was SCREAMING and SCREAMING for 45mins, then she had a little burp and was "fine' especially since her daddy got home.... but the screaming was awful... i almost took her to the doc as she does not scream ever... poor little sausage..... she has done pretty good with her eating today so am hoping for another 7am wake up..... but will get to bed early so even if she goes 'back' to a 4 or 5am wake i'll be ready.... and yes 3 nights in a row of old jemima was awesome!
-
ps - lisa how is your mum anyway??? after her accident? did she fully recover??
