Hi everyone,
I have been lurking lately but not posting so if I miss anyone I am sorry.
Bun- Hooray on the good sleep. Getting so much in one hit is great hey! I will have to get the saline drops. Amber is a bit congested in the nose too. What are they called? How are things with you and DH going?
Prama- Good news about Lakshman. So are you officially going to spell him Lakshman or Laxman? Do you have a nickname for him? From your posts you sound a lot better to early on. I am glad you sound happier.
Esme- Your boy is sleeping so beautifully. My DD is doing well at night too. Last night she went 10-2 then 245-630 then 7-9. Apart from the rude awakenings it is amazing what sleep can do. How is the wind going? Amber is seemingly burping now at least once every feed.
Sue- I hope you feel better soon. What was it you ate? Lucky your DD slept well for you.
DD is crying again.... She wont sleep very well during the day. We put her down and then 10 minutes later she will wake again. We get perhaps an hour stretch with her at the moment. She then dies at about 730ish and we have to wake her for a feed and bath before we go to bed then she is good at night.
Sorry to everyone I missed

Sue - Hope you and DH are feeling a little better. As for your midwife comments on 150gm weight gain per week ........ think I am going to have to starve me little one (he has averaged 250 per week!!).
Bun - Great news on the 4-5 hour stretch at night. Also don't you just love it when they wake feed and back to sleep quickly and you can get back into bed with DH !!
Esne - please send me some of your sleep !
Prama - good news on DS. Glad nothing to worry about.
Luke is now pretty alert during the day after feeds and taking a lot longer to settle back down to sleep. Sometimes he is awake from what seems like ages. When you bubs are awake after a feed during the day how long are they up for ??? I keep thinking he must be getting over tired by all the awake time he is getting. What do you think ?
-
Another quick question ...... bath time
Do you bath in the morning or in the evening? And what is the routine. Do you wait for bubs to wake, then bath, feed and back to bed ???
-
Hi Everyone,
We had takeaway Chinese and I think it was the special fried rice that did it!!
Jacki -- DS is having some lovely awake time too -- about one and a half hours to two hours. She is fairly easy to settle -- wrap cuddle dummy for a few mins and then into bed.
We are currently bathing at night -- so she will have a bath before next feed about 6.30pm and then have feed and into bed. I find the johnsons bedtime bath works a treat. She may not sleep until 8pm but we will see how we go.
Thanks to everyone we are feeling a lot better just need some magic sleep

JEnjams- thanks heaps! I think I'm feeling more positive now and taking things one day at a time. Things are becoming more routine.
We're going to go with Lakshman, it's closer to how it's pronounced. Laxman is pronounced the same but just the spelling is different. We thought it will save him having his name mis-pronounced all the time and being teased at school, like lacks man, laxative man (DH thought of that!). My friend just told me, he might get called Lucky.. yukk.
Lakshman does the same somtimes when we want him to sleep.
Jacki - ditto, we jsut fed him and he's wide awake.. Want him to sleep so we can too.
We bathe him in the evenings, after DH gets home from works so we can do it together. My mother gets worried, lol, cause she believes he will get sick etc.
Esme - hope you're feeling better. Better not have that takeaway again. Poor you and DH..
ps. i went to the health food shop today, and asked about what I could take to increase my milk. the lady told me she's had several woment take Fenugreek tablets and they worked. So im trying them. will let you know if it works

aaarrrrghh had a shocker night!
Jordan must be a bit colicy - last night he just wouldn't settle. He had slept after his bath from about 630pm till 955pm (I normally try to feed him around 8pm but he wouldn't wake up lol) so I gave him a good feed then - he went 15 mins each side (normally only does 10), then it was him awake - crying/looking hungry all the way till 2am. I tried top up feeding at about 1120pm and again at nearly 1am but the feeding didn't seem to help. He kept acting hungry right after, I was starting to cry by 1am, worrying I had no milk left or that he was in pain with gas and convincing myself I am a terrible mother who doesn't know what her bub needs! We had a great night the night before so I guess I was due for a shocker!
He finally slept from about 2 till 5am then I fed both sides again and he didn't stir till 740am.
DH and I tried for a while to settle without resorting to feeding, but when he acts very hungry it was breaking my heart not to feed him, but I'm also wary of letting him use me as a dummy.
thanks for reading ladies, I always feel better if I can get things off my chest here! Hope you all had a good night with some sleep!

ash, 120 is fine for ur man I think. Bry has more than that. I think the chuck is more because wind gets caught under the feed. I find if I burp every now and then thru the feed, the chuck is much less. U get to the point where u can feel bubbles of wind as the develop and know when to burp. But even so, it's impossible to get rid of every bubble. But I find burping earlier in the feed is the way to go.
Jacki, I find if I bath bry, it's easier to feed first cause then he's more relaxed and not screaming cause he's hungry. And I don't think day or night matters so much. I think it's a matter of what fits best for u. Just keep the room warm and u'll be right hon *hugs*.
Well, I'm a single mum now. Dh is gone. He's in san fran atm. Missed his connection to Heathrow because his flight was late. So he's stressing and on standby for the next flight. Let's hope he gets it! Means he can't sight see tho. Poor bugger. Bry had a good sleep. He slept from 10pm till 3:30am, then back to sleep at 4:30 thru to 7:30 so I am feeling a LOT better.
I hope all the bubbas are starting to settle in and go longer between feeds. Love and hugs to all!

Roquen - so sorry about bub not sleeping well. It's so hard when they cry, it's heart breaking and sometimes we dont know what to do.
I hardly slept last night too.
Lakshman's phelgm is giving a hard time. He could hardly breathe and kept opening his mouth to breathe. Woke DH up at 1.45 and we got his nasal saline drops and managed to get some phelgm out. He slept well for a bit then it started again. I felt so sorry for him, to hear him try to breathe in his sleep. I stayed up just watching him to make sure he was ok. He woke up at 4 and had a feed, and I finally went to bed at 5.30. And just quickly had an hrs nap.
My poor baby, I wish he could blow his nose..
Hope you girls had a good night xoxo

Hi Everyone,
Does your bubba sleep in bed during the day or in a rocker?? and if so how long for??? My DD has had a very awake day today and only slept for 40mins at a time whereas a couple of days ago she was sleeping for 1 and a half two hours. I think my supply might be a bit off from being sick yesterday!!
Prama -- you poor luv you must be exhausted. Hope you have had catch up sleep today!
Katkins -- how long is your DH away for?? I have a hard enough time coping while DH is at work! Good luck hopefully they have lots of sleep for you.
Roquen -- Have you tried boiled water??? When DD is screaming and searching it usually means she has wind. But then every baby is different.
Hope every one has lots of sleep tonight.
Sue

Hey Girls,
Prama - hoping that Lakshman get's better quickly, it's never nice when little bubs are sick. And congrat's on the 5hrs sleep, how nice was that lol!!!
Sue - you poor thing I hope that you and DH are feeling better!! It's never easy taking care of bubs when you feel like.
Esme - I hope that poor little Jasper is only going through a phase with him being upset around 7 - 9, I know how frustrating that can be especialy if you have to go through it every night.
Bun - congrat's on the smiles, they are so cute when they smile.
Jenjams - how are you dealing without sleep during the day, you must be exhausted. I hope little Amber learns to take a nice nap for you soon so you can get a break.
Jacki - I too have noticed that Zoey is staying awake a little longer, all in all I'd say she's up know from about 1.5hr to 2hrs. And bath time, I just do it whenever but I do find that it's easier to feed her before and after.
Roquan - so sorry to hear that you had a bad night, hopefully that'll be it.
Katkins - that sucks that your DH has to wait, hopefully it's not to long of a wait. Kudos to you for doing it alone while DH is travelling.
Well ladies Zoey has her 1st baby shower tomorrow. We'll see how many ppl come out we've had a terrible snow storm here. I don't know how much snow we got but it's pretty high. I'd say (just a quess) 2 feet of snow is on the ground right now. Hopefully everyone will be able to come out, I'm realy worried that my mom won't be able to come. If she can't that'll mean that I won't have any family at all at my babyshower. Both my sister's can't come one is going to her daughter's play and the other is going to be out of town. TJ is getting pretty mad he thinks they are being rude because they haven't came to meet her and they won't be at the baby shower. All I tell him is that it's their loss anyways not Zoey's. But I do have to admit I too am becoming a little ticked, I was right there when they had their kids. Do you girls think I'm being silly or are we right to be a bit upset???
-
quick question girls - how long after/before feed should you express?
-
Prama - check out this thread that JAcki posted - i found it to be really helpful...

Thanks heaps Ash! xoxoxox

Hi Everyone!!
mommyof2tob, Have a great day tomorrow at the baby shower!!! Hopefully your guests will be able to make it safely!! It must be nice to have snow, I have never seen it before!! :p
Sueby, we are trying to get DS to sleep in his cot for longer, he has little stints and then wakes up as alert as ever, he sleeps well in his rocker but we are weaning him off that, so maybe just for one sleep a day he'll be in there.
Prama, oh gosh Lakshmans congestion would have me not sleeping too!!! It sounds like its getting better though?? I remember with DD she would get quite stuffy at night times because of where we lived (very cold) and some of the sounds she used to make were awful, thankfully it subsided!! I hope you get a better nights sleep tonight!! I have heard that those Fenugreek tabs work a treat!!
Kat, did your DH end up making his flight!! I hope that you will be okay whilst he is away!! How nice that Bry slept so well last night!! Starting to feel human again?? :)
Roquen, aww sorry to hear that Jordan had a bad night last night! Hopefully he will be okay tonight!
Jacki, we bathe Noah at night, just before his 5/6pm feed. I am hearing ya on the awake periods during the day! Today Noah was awake for nearly two hours in one go!
Bun, ooohh 4-5 hour sleeps at night!! I am so jealous!!!!!!:p I hope that DD keeps that up for you!!
Esme, great to hear that you guys had a good night the other night too!!!
Doing okay here, I caved and gave DS a bottle of formula today as I am concerned that by the 6/7am feed he is getting much as he stays awake for so long after, he breastfed well today during the day, so that was good, will see what he is like tonight and early tomorrow before I decide if it will be a recurring thing!
Okay better go, can here him crying...
Take Care everyone!!!!
-
aparently he made the standby flight, but they overbooked it and so they had to pull everypne off it and get another plane, so another two hrs late.
Prama, Bry is the same with his snuffles. It's not nice is it? Does Laks chuck up mucous? It's really hard to listen to them rattle, but Bry at least is a good cougher so he gets it up eventually and not much we can do about it. *hugs* Hope he gets better soon and I'm sorry he's having such a hard time, you too honey *hugs*.
-
Goodmorning girls!
Prama/Katkins - hopefully your bubbies will soon get better! It has got to be soo hard not being able to make it go away...
Anyone else - sorry about not doing anymore personals; I haven't posted over the weekend and now there's so much I decided to start with the last posts. Hopefully everyone had a reasonable night. We had a wakeful windy/crampy night the night before last night and back to the three hourly feeds last night. Jasper starts to stay awake a lot more too; sometimes I don't read him properly and put him to bed too early; well, he won't let that happen; he just cries of the top of his lungs until we get him out and give him some tummy time or cuddles. I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for him being too alert and keep him occupied for a bit longer! Congratulations Bun on the first smile! That must be sooo nice! We had a couple of half smiles, so I don't think it is too far off... We had a big family lunch with DP's relatives yesterday and Jasper was awake for a big part of it; he was passed around for cuddles and handled it really well; no overtiredness, just after coming home a good big feed and off to sleep!
Have a good day!
-
Quick question for you Sue, how do you give her the cold boiled water? I tried yesterday with a medicine dropper, but he was just gagging and figthing it all the way; no way I was going to get 10 ml in!
On your question about daytime sleeps; we have a big 1950's pram we use as a bassinet; at night he sleeps next to us and during the day he sleeps where ever I am; just wheel him into the next room! When he gets a bit older, we will start putting him in his cot in his room for the day sleeps.
Sorry, little man crying....
-
Sue - DS sleeps in his cot if at home or in car capsule or pram if we are out. When we get home I try and transfer him back to cot if only just asleep or leave him in capsule or pram if due to wake relatively soon. Have never managed to get him to sleep in his bouncer. I assume he thinks its play time in there and I guess is too stimulated to sleep. I wish he would 'nod' off in there though.
Marie - firstly stay warm in all that snow honey. We are all still sweating over here !! You have every right to be upset - personally I would be 'ticked off' as well if my family weren't being supportive.
Its a miracle - I slept for about 3.5 hours in a row last night !!!! Not expecting it again anytime soon but it sure was nice !
