Hi all!
Welcome back Kerrie and Jacki!!! Good to hear from you! So cute that Bryce is already singing and clapping to the music. Jasper really likes his music, but is not clapping/singing yet. Luke is a bit more laid back by the sounds of it; at least you know he stays where you put him down!
Ash enjoy your birthday party!!! Have a couple for me too... I haven't had a drink since falling pregnant and I am really hanging out for a good glass of wine.
Jasper's night sleeps seem to be improving (had 12 hours again last night) but his daysleeps are all over the place. He sometimes sleeps for up to 2.5 hours but most of the time only 0.5 hours. So the no. of sleeps he has depend on how long he sleeps. Very difficult to work around his sleeps. He loves his rice cereal at the moment but he doesn't eat unless he can touch the food first, so we do have a mess whenever he eats. I am a bit reluctant to go to two meals a day, because all we would be doing is feeding and cleaning.. How are you going with the solids Prama? Does it get easier? I am not sure whether I should wait a little before introducing the second meal or do it anyhow and just go out less? Or keep going out and wait till feeding becomes a little easier and less messy.
Sue - How was your weekend???!!! Did DH learn to do the housework ;)?
Hope you all have a nice day!

Hi Everyone,
I had a great time away, bought some beautiful things for summer!! Really enjoyed the day spa would love to do it again very soon. We seemed to be more tired than normal and had early nights Friday and Saturday but we stayed right on Spencer ST so it was very noisy so didn't get a good solid sleep.
DH DID NOT DO THE HOUSEWORK GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I have posted a thread on this to vent so I won't repeat myself.
Esme -- DD is all over the place with her daysleeps as well. I am lucky to get 2 hours in the morning and then she will have two short naps for the rest of the day. She is very chatty and happy, loves being on the floor and is rolling everwhere, I have to be really careful with the boys toys as she can get them now. Nicholas loves giving her matchbox cars he he.
We are on solids twice a day here, i am thinking of introducing lunch. She is getting better at eating but loves having the spoon herself and feeding herself! The boys were like birds they just sat there an opened their mouths lazy buggers he he.
Great to hear from you Jacki, Katkins, and hello to everyone else.
Sorry have to go get Dinner ready
BBL if I get a chance
Ash -- Have a great birthday weekend. Its a long time since I was 21 but I had a fantastic party and still remember it sooooo enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL Prama, Jasper started doing that a couple of days ago too! And lovely sloppy 'kisses' on the cheek :). Soooo cute!
-
I get HUGE sloppy drooly wide open mouthed kisses.
He has to be in the right kind of mood, but if he is sitting up when i say cuddles he leans in for a cuddle and kisses he goes for the sloppy smooch. It's very cute, and I think it's something I can reflect on as our first communicatrion breakthrough IYKWIM - because he knows!
I put some photos on facebook of him doing in, one of the photos my whole cheek is glistening with slobber :p

Ash, wonderful pics hon!!!! Ur lil man reaqlly does love u!!!
Thos kisses are so special aren't they? My lil man only gives them to me. Nanna was down last week and she took over most of the taking care of him but when I left for work, I picked him up for a goodbye cuddle and he gave me heaps of those kisses and cuddles. He pulled my hair so I couldn't stop him kissing me (not that I would have, but YKWIM, he used my hair to pull me in for the kisses) sooooooo cute! And so nice to feel so loved isn't it?!!!

Love your pics Ash; brought tears to my eyes!!!Soooo nice when they show they love you...

Gorgeous pics Ash!!!!!!! :) :)

Beautiful photos Ash.
I just love the slobby wet kisses. It makes me laugh when DS gets my chin in his mouth .
How is everyone going with solids. I am not too sure if I am offering enough. I know at 6 months the suggestion was to work up to around 3 tablespoons but now bubs is 7.5 months and I am offering more but I am not too sure whether I should be offering a lot more - I am very wary of him reducing his milk intake too much. I am still BF prior to solids. Thoughts anyone ??
After immunisations, a bad cold, visitors and renovations DS sleep was just getting worse and worse and dispite all efforts to get back on track was not improving. It was getting to the point of waking up every 1.5 hours every night. DH and I agreed (very reluctantly) to try a bit of CC - boy o boy do I feel like a bad mumma. So very stressful time in my house at the moment
-
jacki - our nurse told us give them about 3 tablespoons at least, but give them as much as they want. poopy usually takes around 3-4tablespoons, sometimes less. it's a bit hard to tell really. i'm also wary about giving too much solids and too little milk, as he's cutting down his milk now. but the nurse also told us, they will slowly reduce their milk and by 12 mths solids will be their main source of food.

Hi Everyone,
ASH -- How was your Birthday????? Hope you had a great night. Love your facebook pictures.
Jacki-- DD barely has 1 tbs at the moment but with the boys I seemed not to be able to give them enough solids he he. I think around 4 tablespoons of solids is enough then maybe offer something different fruit, rusk etc.
CC is tough. It is hard when they are all out of whack you sound like you have been very busy. I felt like a bad mumma when I did it as well, but we are just trying to let them know they need to sleep. In my experience after a short time they do gradually get used to going to sleep on their own. If not then maybe something else is going on like teeth or growth spurt etc. Big Hugs to you:hug:
Prama- My MCHN told me that also.
My DH has got a week off so we are finishing some stuff outside ( making garden beds, paths etc) and then having some family time. We are off to the Zoo one day and maybe to mini golf another day. The boys are having a sleepover at Grandma & Poppy's one night which will be great!!!
Have a good week everyone

Ash, those photos are so beautiful. Your gorgeous little boy clearly loves you to bits! You are doing a great job as a mummy and have a gorgeous, healthy, happy little boy to show for it. I am very proud of you! And happy birthday!
kat - good to see you! I am glad to hear you are going well, you must be so busy with your brood! DD has just learnt to clap too and it's hilarious - she thinks she is so clever! She now moves around in her cot when she sleeps and whenever I go in to get her, she is upside-down facing the wrong way with her head right up against the cot wrungs, clapping and laughing at me! She totally cracks me up right now. I am glad to hear that DS is a good teether, I am still waiting for teeth here and hoping against hope she will be one of those babies who teeth without too much trouble too!
We are still really struggling with solids, I think is is getting worse! Before I could trick her to eat by giving her an arrowroot or piece of fruit or bread and whenever she opens her mouth, I would shove a spoonful in, but now she has cottoned on to that and closes her mouth as soon as she sees the spoon coming! The only thing she will let me feed her is avocado. Everything else has to be finger food that she can feed herself. The mess is getting ridiculous - I had peas ALL OVER my floor last night, but there is just no other way to feed her! I have tried everything, but I think that is just the way she is!
jacki - sorry to hear about the sleep problems, it is really hard when you have to do that, I know. We got the point where we had no choice but to leave her and it killed me. I hope he starts to get better soon, you poor things.
sue - I am glad to hear you had such a good weekend away, it sounds like you deserved it! That is so typical of a boy, not doing the housework! The one time I thought my DH may do some housework was while I was in hospy having DD, but no, he still didn't do it! Grrrr, men...
esme - I totally hear you on the mess, glad to know that it is not just my DD who is a difficult feeder! I am now trying 2 solid meals a day, even though it drives me crazy having to clean up so often. I have to clean the entire high chair, the floor, change ALL DD's clothes, and often mine, and this is after each feed! I am not sure how much gets in her mouth, but I think much less than what ends up all over us! All the other bubs at my mothers group are on 3 feeds a day and going great, whereas I am not game to try lunch as I can't feed her when out anyway because of the mess. It makes me feel like a bad mum when all the other bubs have their lunch at mothers group each week, and DD just gets a BF but there is just no point! Hopefully they will start to get the hang of it soon. Some days I get really depressed trying to feed her as it seems so pointless and messy, but I persevere nonetheless.
Hi to everyone else :)
-
Hi all!
Bun - good on you for persevering with two meals per day! We are still only doing lunch and I just don't worry about it when we go out. Last week he refused everything by pushing the spoon away and closing his mouth, this got me very frustrated so I decided to give it a break for a week.
Tried it again monday and he actually ate his rice cereal again! I discovered that I have to make it with EBM though... which is a bit of a pain since I don't have a pump and hand expressing is sometimes difficult to get enough. Might have to get myself a pump. He also slept really well again last couple of nights whereas before he would be crying in his sleep just about every hour and a half. So I am not really sure what is causing what...
Jacki - it does make you feel bad, but CC worked for us. Jasper now gets himself off to sleep even if he wakes up in the night (if he doesn't need a feed); he maybe grizzles for a couple of minutes, but then falls asleep again most of the time. So it is hard but if you stick with it and be consistent they pick up on it real quick and everyones night (Luke's too) will be so much better. Hope it wil get easier soon :hugs:.
Sue - enjoy your week of family time; the weather is so nice overhere too, we spent most of the weekend in the garden! Jasper got to meet the dogs and cats and they had a nice play together. Lucky the dogs are very good and protective of him.
Hi to everyone else!
-
hi girls,
quick Q:
what's the best way to clean bub's ears?
-
Hi Prama, I usually use a cloth around my finger and wipe his ears out with that. I think you can buy baby cotton buds...
-
Sorry, posted twice. Didn't realise the new post started the next page....
-
when it comes to food, Bry is a piggy! He eats a full jar each sitting. And that's the big jars! Or if it's something we've cooked up for him, it a bowl full. And he still has a full bottle an hr afterwards. He LOOOOOVES his food. But he's been on solids since 3.5m. He's grizzling now with his second tooth. The gum is so swollen I don't blame him. Prama, I use a baby ear bud moistened slightly. Works a treat and no need to scrub.
Bun, Catherine sounds like a real gem. She sounds like she's full of mischief hehehe. How cute!
Hope everyone's doing well. I'm toddler less for a few days. So going to make the most of it. And rest!
Love to all!!
