Hello Feb mummies! Hope you are all well, special hello to Jenjams, Prama and Bun.
I notice a few of you put a blanket over your sleeping bub when they are in their cot. Does this pose a SIDS risk? Should I be worried that he will suffocate under the blanket? Sorry, a bit direct with the question but I think DS is waking when he is cold and we can't possibly heat the house anymore than we are at the moment.

Hi girls, Just a quick hello.
Jake uses a sleeping bag. Its a 2 tog bag which means it great between 16-20 deg to keep them warm. Jake will not sleep without it, and it keeps him sleeping all through the night. I can count a handful amount of nights he has woken. Tara woke around 1-2 nights a week, and she never had a sleeping bag, so it makes me wonder.
I better go, I have to get breakfast going.

With Amber's blanket, its more like a quilt. I firmly tuck the end into the bottom of her bed so she cannot possibly pull it out. I have never had a problem with it. We have also graduated to flanelette sheets so she should be nice n toasty now.
LOL Lakshman! We had that problem with Amber except she was pulling things out of the bin. We ended up buying a bigger bullet rubbish bin and turning it around towards the wall. We still ahve a recycle bin which she pulls stuff out of and puts her toys and dummy in. We just have to check it before we put the rubbish out! Our bathroom bin is hidden so she cannot get to it. Oh they are so cheeky!
Hi Sequioa - I'm glad Jen said who you are as I wasn't sure! How are you? Good to see you on here, haven't heard from you in a while. How is Baxter going? I also put a blanket over DD. I don't worry much about SIDS anymore as I think it is mainly only a risk in the first 12 months. DD never seems to get the blanket over her head and if she moves around in her cot she moves up so the blanket moves off her rather than over her head. I still always put her down with her feet right at the bottom of the cot.
Jen - how are you, you married woman!! Catherine has become very cheeky lately too, she also does things she knows she is not allowed to and looks at me while she does it and she loves to climb on and off the couch all the time. It is driving me crazy, I get no peace now! And of course she is not careful so I am always making sure she's not going to fall off the couch and hurt herself. We have had so many injuries lately - grazed head, bumped and bruised head, lump on head, split lip, blood nose, it is never ending, she is a little kamikaze baby!

prama - I hope you are feeling better now. DD also likes to put things in bins. She threw her dummy in the toilet the other day and a toy almost made it in next before I rescued it! I love the pics of your gorgeous little family. You are so beautiful.
esme - yay on all the teeth! DD now has 10, and a couple of them are molars. She has 4 at the top, then a huge gap and then 2 more further back! She also has a huge lump on her lower gum so I think more are on their way.
sue - woo hoo on Sophie walking! I bet it is much more fun for her now being able to keep up with her big brothers. Glad to hear DH's procedure went well. I think I would also not be too keen on the idea of more kids if I had had such a big bubba too!
Well, I am STILL busy unpacking but getting there. DD has her first day of daycare without me hanging around tomorrow so I am hoping to get to the gym and next do some serious unpacking! It is time this house got into some kind of order! I will take some pics of the house and post them on facebook as soon as it is looking respectable so you can all see the place!
Oh, and DD has started giving some of the BEST kisses, and I love it! She sometimes smothers me with kisses and cuddles me so tight. It is gorgeous!
ooh i think i will go look for flannelette sheets at lunch time..
hi shoegal.. you were very cryptic! i did tuck lakshman under a blankie last night.. last a few minutes cos he rolled out. we tucked the blankie too. he rolls so much in his sleep, he looks like a pupae in his sleeping bag!
bun - hope catherine goes ok at day care. she'll probably be having fun w all the kids after a bit.

thanks for comments on teh pictures.. shucks.. im all embarrased, i never thought of myself as beautiful (when i was growing up I was always told i wasnt good enough etc.)
love their kisses huh. they are just so special. i love it too when lakshman leans forward to kiss me. and we have this game now. when i sit on the floor w him, i fall back and lie down and grab him so he's on top of me and give him cuddles and tickles. so now whenever im sitting down on the floor w him, he tries to push me over and laughs and laughs.. sigh kids are so beautiful, i cant imagine life without all this now..

Jen - you're a married woman! How wonderful, congratulations hun. I will tuck the quilt into DS's cot and give that a try. Do you put Amber under this in her sleeping bag?
Bun - Catherine sounds like a cheeky monkey! How are you going over east?
Prama - Aw, I love their kisses too, so sweet.
2 please - I use a 2.5 TOG at night time, still not enough for my boy I'm afraid...

The temp in Jasper's room goes down to 13 degrees or lower during the night, so his 2.0 tog sleeping bag isn't warm enough. We live in an old fibro house that is impossible to heat properly, so that's why I resort to a blanket. I don't think it is too risky, as he just crawls from under it. We also have flannelette sheets, so he has been nice and toasty in the mornings.
Jasper has just started giving the kisses and cuddles too. At night before he goes to bed we do a family hug where he gives DP and me kisses and we 'sandwich kiss' him, he then graps our heads to make us kiss each other; so cute!
Shoegal- yep still have Amber in her sleeping bag. So she is not on top of a flanelette sheet in her sleeping bag with a flanelette sheet on top and a blanket/quilt. Her sleeping bag is sleeveless so her hands still get cold. But she has plenty of layers on now I think!
Prama- Never let anyone tell you you are not good enough. I am appalled someone told you that. You are beautiful hun! Your family is beautiful too.
How weird is it being married and changing your name? I now have a new license and bank cards. It feels so foreign and... I hate having to learn a new signature. Ok its time to put Amber to bed.

jen - I remember how weird it was when I had to change my name, although it took me over 2 years to get around to doing it so you are doing well! I still have half the cards in my wallet in my old name though.
prama - I agree with what Jen said - don't let anyone tell you that you're not good enough, that is rubbish! You ARE a beautiful girl with a divine family and I LOVE the pics you had taken.
esme - that is sooo cute! I love the kisses so much. We get big kisses before bed and sometimes just randomly throughout the day. Although the cat and dog get more kisses than us!
Sequoia - we are doing great thanks, have just bought a house and are settling in well. How are you guys going?

i didnt change my name cos it wouldhave been too hard. im still a malaysian citizen so would have been to hard to change my name tehre as well. i also liked keeping my name..
sometimes i get people ringing and asking if I'm Mrs. Thompson, and i say that my mother in law, and they go Ms. Thompson, no that's my sister in law. Plus if I had combined our surnames, my initials would have been PMT - No thank you!!
I went to Kmart and Target, no cot flannelette sheets :(

a quick one from me again
DD sleeps in a polar fleece all in one zip up suit and we have had no problems with her sleeping getting cold overnight.
We do have a blanket over her as well but she does wriggle and get out from underneath it. I think the sids risk is greater when they are newborn and have limited movement.

Just a quick one before Jasper wakes up again. Are any of the bubba's developing new fears? Jasper is all of a sudden really scared of noisy machinery/vacuum cleaner and barking dogs. He was ok with those noises a couple of weeks ago. I did notice him going through a change/wonder week again, so I was just wondering if other bubba's are going through the same thing. Today I just had him down for his nap when someone pulled up and the dogs barked, he sat up screaming and was so scared... Now he wakes up every 20 minutes in a panic... As soon as I come in, he is fine and goes back to sleep. He is genuinly scared. We have gone out the last few days into unfamiliar spaces with lots of kids, play group like (he really enjoyed this, and isn't shy at all), not sure if this causes a little separation anxiety... anyhow, just wondering if anyone has noticed similar behaviour.

esme - not sure abt jasper's fears.. is he still doing it? maybe he's starting to realise what big sounds are?
i almost cried... poopy made me a special bag for mother's day. daycare got one of those reusable bags, like the green ones at woolies/coles. this one is white and he made handprints on one side and paintings on the other... and then inside was a painting and on the back it said 'i love you mum'.. sigh.. im on cloud 9!!
his favourite word at the moment is Ta. when we give him something he says Ta, and when he gives US something he says Ta as well.
and when it's time for his bath, we're in the bathroom and he's trying to take off his pants. of cos his fingers cant quite do it. then he's trying to figure out how to take his nappy off.. he'll be taking them off soon.. eeek.
I just had to comment on prama's post - DD CAN take her nappy off! She always tries to take it off but when we were staying with MIL a couple of months ago and MIL put her to bed (it was the night of my 30th birthday party so MIL looked after DD for us), it was a hot night, so MIL only put a nappy and singlet on her, and oh my, what a sight for me the next morning! There was poo literally EVERYWHERE! She was standing in it, had smeared it all over the cot and the smell! So not what you want to wake up to!
eeewww.. sorry bun!! tho it is a bit funny! but not funny when you had to clean it up esp after ur bday!
poopy wears cloth at home and sposies at day care. he'll probably start taking it off in summer when he doesnt have pants on.. eeekk

Prama -- I got beautiful presents also -- I just love the cards and the handmade gifts. Nicholas made me a jewellry box in the shape of a loveheart just beautiful.
Bun --- eeeeewwwww also on the poo! You poor thing the night after your birthday. Hope DD settled well into Daycare and you are unpacked!
DD has been sick over the weekend and is finally getting better. I think she also cut another tooth there can't be many more left to go!! She is loving walking and loves going to school so she can walk in the classroom and show off! Have to buy her some soft shoes though she has size 4 but has grown out of those already eeek.
Hello to everyone. Have to go and get organsied have school and kinder drop off and then Nicholas has 4 yr old assessment / immunisation at 11am.
