jj - yeah it's kinda hard to start all over again in a belly / baby buddies group. we are so comfortable w each other here.
will be thinking of you on the 8th, gosh that's just next week!

bun - could you go for a swim just to relax and bub to relax too. i still remember how awful the feeling of being kicked and punched was! you just feel so sore.

jacki - you are almost out of the first trimester! i cant wait to get to 13 weeks and feel more confident.
my scan's only on the 18th, feels like months away! and getting worried about the nuchal fold scan too

Hey Gals
Went for my 12 wks NT scan today. All looking well with bubs. All arms and legs and moving around like crazy.
Not too happy with my risk this time around. With Luke the risk was 1:5000 which considering my age was pretty good. This time it is 1:500. The thickness was OK at 1.5mm but my blood work wasn't so good. High risk is considered 1:300 but .............................. not too sure on how I feel. Amnio has a risk of miscarriage of 1:200.

Has anyone else on here received any higher risk results ? Did you go on for further testing??

Thoughts ??

I remember with Amber, my risk was on the higher side. It is a lot to take in. if you feel that you will be stressing the whole pg, would you feel it was better to have the amnio to ease your mind? It is quite a common procedure these days. Big hugs Jacki. Why cant they make pg easier

jacki - i dont have any advise,it's a big decision. 1:500 is almost half of 1:300, it still says 1 chance in 500 pregnancies..
what do they recommend? im worried as well, abt doing the tests.. you never stop worrying..

Just popping in quickly to say Happy New Year to everyone!

I don't have much time as Jasper is getting his eye teeth and is not sleeping and very clingy. He just went down with some Nurofen, so hopefully we all get a break.

Jacki - No advice as we didn't do a NT test, but big :hug:, hopefully you will be able to make a decision you are comfortable with. It still means that there is a 499 in 500 chance that the baby will be healthy :hug:.

Prama - Yay on the ms not being too bad just yet, mine started around the 6 week mark this time around, so there is still time ;). How's Poopy's health?

Bun - You are almost there :hug:, I am not looking forward to those last weeks. Hopefully bub decides to come a little early for you.

Jen - Only 8 days to go!! So exciting; the first new bub in our thread is about to make it's entry into the world. I hope everything will go very smoothly for you and you have a speedy recovery.

Danda - The energy is hard to come by this second time around, just not enough time to put your feet up and take a break. I am posting in our belly buddies thread, but not as often as I used to.

AFM - Almost 23 weeks now, bean is a wriggler; very good to put my mind at ease. Jasper is teething; the last three eye teeth are coming through, so hopefully it won't take too long. Poor bub is very uncomfortable and just wants mummy cuddles atm.

We had a nice Christmas with DP's family and Jasper loved unwrapping the presents. He also had a great time taking presents from under the tree and give them to everyone. No plans for tonight, an early bedtime probably, need to catch as much sleep as possible.

jacki - as Jen said, I have joined a baby buddy group, but it's not the same. It is quite big and I don't feel as close to them as I do you guys, but I try to post anyway. Sorry I have no advice re the NT as I don't get it done either. That is still low risk though and I think most drs only recommend further testing if the risk is 1 in 200 or 300. But as jen said, if it is going to stress you out the entire pregnancy, maybe it's better to get it done?

prama - how are you feeling?

jen - we are getting nowhere with names, we are just hopeless at agreeing on anything! How are you going? I hope you aren't feeling too nervous about the c-section, I am sure you will be just fine.

Hi to everyone else, hope you all had a lovely new year.

Hooray, Amber is asleep in her big girl bed. Finally I can have a rest. Being heavily pregnant with a toddler is not the best of things as you would know Bun!

Jacki- How are you and have you decided what you may do?

Bun- I am sh!%%!ng myself over the c-sect on Fridy. Silly me has read some horror c-sect stories. And I have not had an op since I was 2 doesnt help. I also really dont know how I will cope with 2 kids. But surely it will be done and I will be thinking of how silly I have been feeling. Aaaahhhhh How is Catherine? Does she have any idea there is a baby coming? We ask A where the baby is and she points at my huge tummy but she is too young to get it. I also think there will be some jealousy issues.

How are the toddlers? As they approach 2 they are certainly getting chattier and more independant. Mine has a ripper of a temper and her favourite word is NO at the moment. Sometimes she just looks at me and I know she is wondering what she can test next!
Does any one have a toddler with 2 year old molars yet? None here but hopefully they come through nicely and we are over the teething until number 2

jj - i can imagine getting panicky. im so tired and found it so hard with him last week being at home. he doesnt stop for a second and need to constantly pay him attention or get him something to do.
having an op is scary, hope it will all go ok. will you have family to help?
im also so scared of coping w 2 kids...

yeah, lakshman gets this look sometimes.. often he listens to us, and there are times he just chooses to ignore.
yup, you see more and more of their personality and what they want and dont want. exhausting!!
im looking for some books to read to him abt bringing baby home. will try this weekend at the library.

im so dead tired. i wish i could jsut sleep. back at work and doesnt help ms is here. boo hoo

hi jen - Good luck on Friday with the birthday of your new little one!! I have had 2 emergency c-sections, the second of which was only after pre-labour and i'd have to say recovery was much easier (in terms of getting over an operation).

Just take it easy, really really don't push yourself so that recovery goes as smoothly as possible so try to limit lifting Amber etc for a little while. And take as much pain medication to cope as you need. I didn't listen to my scar on day 1 as closely as I should have and ended up with a morphine shot - kinda nice to be zonked out ;-) but it meant i couldn't be as aware as i wanted for a few hours.

As far as i know from friends who have had scheduled c-sections, their recovery has been great in comparison to someone who has been through labour so i'm sure you'll be fine!

As for coping with 2 kids - i found getting out every morning for fresh air & a run around made such a difference to all of us and take it on a day by day (or sometimes hour by hour!) basis.

Thanks for your support girls. I had an appointment with my OB today. Went through all the numbers and risks. Still not 100% sure what we will do as far as an amnio is concerned but am leaning towards leaving it until the anatomy scan at 19 weeks and see if there are any physical signs - if so then opt for an amnio then.

Aaaaarrrggghhh !!

Jen - did you have an amnio with Amber? Bet you can't wait to meet your new little one. Please don't be nervous about the c-section (particularly a planned one). It feels a little strange at times but absolutely nothing frightening. The anaesatist will be with you from before you enter theatre to put in the epidural and stays with you and talks to you the whole time explaining what is going on on the other side of screen. I found it a great support through the c-section (as well as DH of course).

DS is definately turning into a terrible 2. The tantrums aren't too bad (yet) but the stubborness is a killer !

Esme - hope Jasper's eye teeth hurry up and come through. I think they were definitely the worse. Just waiting on molars now. When they are all through what can we blame bad behaviour on !!!

Prama - don't you just hate the early pregnancy tiredness. Remember with our first you could just sleep and sleep - but not this time. I'm just about out of the 1st trimester and feeling like I have 100x more energy - and will definately make the most of it before the dreaded 3rd trim.

Roya - I definately agree on the pain relief - say yes to absolutely everything was the advice I got from my OB !! I found that I didn't really need much after the first 48 hours - mainly just panadol and nurofen - but made sure I didn't miss out on anything so could be more mobile to help healing.

Stinking hot here in stupid Perth. I was driving home at 5.30pm today from a friends house and it was still 36 degrees. I think the next 2 day sare around 38 ! Don't think we will be turning the air con off for a while. We are just about to start building a new house and will deifnately be putting in ducted air con - what a luxury !

jacki - sounds like a good decision to have a look at the 19th week scan first. :)

yeah, Lakshman doesnt have much of a tanty but can be very insistent on what he wants. LOL. and he's just started to use a lot of "Nah" they all have that tone of voice dont they..

we are thinking about a knock and rebuild as well. our house is too small for a family of 4

Aaaahhhh 2 days. It is quite surreal that I know the date of my childs birth. Good in one way though that I can plane someone to look after Amber.

The name game is fun hey Bun! Well we seem to have a girls and boys name sorted. How are you and DH going with deciding names? I remember your list from the other thread and love them all :D

Oh my toddler has attituted plus today. What is everyone getting them for their birthdays? We got Amber a doll from Etsy. This lady in the US gets pics of them and paints them onto the doll. So hopefully she likes it. We are also thinking of getting a bigger fold out couch but not sure.

Hey Sue - Happy birthday for Friday

Jen - not too sure on what to get DS for his birthday. He got so much for xmas I actually took some of the presents away and they didn't even get unwrapped. However will proabably add to his every growing Thomas collection and I also want to get one of those Wahu swim vests - Luke is just crazy about swimming.

Prama - I'll let you know my advice of the the building thing soon. From what I get told its really hard work and frustrating. Hopefully we will be in new house by next Christmas which seems like a lifetime away. But I guess all the hard work will be worth it to have a brand new house and just the way we want it.

AFM - been sick with a gastro bug for the last 2 days. Yukko. Don't think I have had one for at least 5 years - great timing, pregnant, toddler and heatwave. Feeling a little better now. Back to work tomorrow after a couple of weeks off - quite looking forward to the break. Going to spill the beans at work about being pregnant so don't know how my boss will take it - again !

Jen - so tomorrow is the day, wow!! Have you been told a time yet? Glad to hear you have sorted out names. We are still hopeless at agreeing on anything. We are thinking of getting DD a trampoline for her birthday but they are pretty expensive so not sure yet. I thought DD had a molar coming through but I can't feel it yet so no 2 year old molars here yet, although all the others have been through for quite some time now. We are having sleep issues though, I just have no idea why! She understands that there is a baby in my tummy and she loves to kiss and cuddle it and try to feed it but I am not sure that she really understands. It may be a bit of a shock for them I think! Best of luck for tomorrow sweetie, I will be thinking of you.

jacki - good luck with building. We built a house in Perth and had no trouble at all, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. It really is a learning process, but we would definitely do it again someday. You will love it when you are finally living in it and it is just what you want! Sounds like a good idea to what til the 19 week scan to see if all is ok, which I am sure it is!

Yes, our little dears certainly are turning into cheeky little monsters now aren't they? DD makes me crack up constantly with the cheekiness and the things she gets up to. She can throw a monster of a tanty and is also very stubborn but it is also such a fun age. I am just struggling to keep up with her at the moment while being so pregnant.

A quick selfish one here. I have to be at the hospi at 645 in the morning and apparently are the first one to go at 8am unless there are emergencies. Oh dear. This time tomorrow I will have 2 kids. Its quite hard to comprehend.
