DIS - LOL Ella was born with a full head of jet black hair that the MW promptly advised "don't worry that will all fall out over the coming months" ..ahem...LOL...it NEVER happened!! - its just keeps growing and i've actually trimmed it twice since she was born because it was getting in her eyes - i even now have to use a hair dryer because it takes too long to dry on its own and as its cool in the evenings i dont want her to get sick!! - Alot of ppl think she's older than 6months because of her hair, many have said, "oh wow, she's only 6 months?? - gosh she has so much hair, my DD or DS didnt have hair til after they were 18 mths!

Hello everyone! Hope you are all well and bubs are growing tall and chubby! Been a while for me...have been enjoying facebook a little more and looking at all the pics.

Ella_Bear: lol about Ella's hair. It is gorgeous! Thick black hair is the only thing I had on my newborn wish list both times and both times I got the complete opposite. When I was having DD the midwife even told me she could see all the black hair to keep my spirits up lol! Neither DH or I have black hair so I guess it was a tall order lol! DD is 2 and doesn't have that much hair!! Ella's Baptism pics are just gorgeous and that dress.....

Dis: So nice to hear the boys are enjoying each other. DD is still a little rough with DS and we are having some sharing issues but getting there...apparently she owns everything. It is something that I focus on daily. DD is now even doing some dodgey trade-offs like taking a cool toy from DS and convincing him that the toilet roll she has is soooo much better. He is now catching on and vocalises his frustrations with her! Now she sets up DS's toys in the lounge room and helps me organise things for him that she can be included in as well. Much better. Any other tips? As for Thomas, I only know Thomas so I have a lot of learning to do....maybe Ben can teach me too lol!

Caiden's: I am so happy to hear just how in love with your DS you are! How is his sitting going? I love it when they sit....so many games you can play! I enjoy reading your FB status updates about your little guy. It only gets more exciting from here!


A great big hello to everyone else!

AFM: DS is 7 months in 2 days!!! I went out last night by myslef to a family 50th birthday party and left kids with DH (he did a wonderful job on his own). The part I enjoyed most was going to the toilet by myself and eating a plate of food without little fingers picking off my plate and without starting and stopping a dozen times lol! I was able to sit and relax!

For those of you who looked at our FB pics last week, DS is now pulling himself up to his feet (yes, in one week) and holding on for long periods. He can now also get on his Fisher Price red car by himself (before I put him on) and can push it about a metre now! DS is speed crawling everywhere and since he can pull himself up, is in all the cupboards now....so baby proofing is underway! I am happy for DS because that is what he wants to do but sad because both times I haven't had a baby for long....they have both been very active early on and that means they don't need their mummy as much and prefer not to sit in your lap for long periods...actually they have both never really been in your arms bubs. On the plus side I got to see these great milestones before returning to work.

Still no teeth and no sign of them either....not to worry. They all do it their own way lol!

Better go because DS is getting cranky with his car and he has flipped it upside down spinning its wheels.....gotta love it!

LS, I only just noticed your ticker pic - very cute! What an awesome shot of your little man.
Ben would be more than happy to teach you your Thomas trains. Be prepared for an eye roll or two though if you get one wrong! :lol:
My goodness you have some clever bubbas! I doubt Jared will ever get his belly off the ground for a proper crawl -it's just too big :lol: He's doing much better than his laid-back brother though, Ben didn't crawl until he was 9 months old, was just happy to sit and watch everything - never even attempted to crawl. Then one day, he just leant forward and crawled across the room! I'd never seen anything like it before - our jaws dropped to the floor!
Both my boys are very snuggly though. I still snuggle Jared to sleep and did the same with Ben until he was 9 months old. I know it's against all the rules, but it works for us - well except that Jared strained my rotator cuff because he's the size of a one year old! :lol:

EB, that's so amazing about Ella's hair. I cringe to think about any poor daughter I have - the poor thing. Both my MIL and mum had four kids each and we were ALL baldie bubs! Mum said she used to put hats on us even in Winter! I don't think I'll be that mean :lol: I love kissing my baldie bubs' heads.

We've had a flat out weekend, but it was a lot of fun. The boys are back to normal sleeping patterns, although Jared thinks that he shouldn't need to sleep after 5am in the morning!!!! Not fun. He's settled into two daytime sleeps though which is making things a whole lot easier. He is changing in appearance so much - his cheeks are getting even chubbier and it's changing the whole look of his face. His bottom two teeth are still trying to get through and I think that's changing the shape of his face too.
He has become such a chatterbox. Loves his food (can't get enough avocado and banana). Loves playing ball games with his big brother - which works out well. So far Ben hasn't tired of retrieving the ball for him and Jared still thinks his brother is hilarious at everything he does!

Dis - I would have LOVED to have a baldie bubba, i think they are soooo cute!!! - plus for me, it gives the illusion of still being a bubba i think :D

Thanks LS re compliments on her gown :) and LOL at the MW for telling you she could see dark hair!! OMG I saw your FB pics and can't believe your DS is already standing!! - Ella will only roll or commando move to where she wants to get to! She'll go up into a crawl position then just stay there (i think like DIS DS, her belly is too heavy to lift)! - Im not ready for her to be on the move yet :doh:

sorry I have not been on for a while, what a year it has been ! I just celebrated my 40th birthday, and we have just bought a new home! There are lots of other things going on also - like a skiing trip to NZ in a few days!

Amara is doing well with sleeping and eating. But a few days before she turned 6 months, I have begun to see that MAYBE she has ASD like her brother (Autism Spectrum Disorder). Some say it is too early to tell, but we have done LOTS of research and there a signs from early on.

this is of course very distressing to come to terms with AGAIN if I am right, which of course I hope I am NOT. The things I am NOT seeing in her development are:

1. She does not 'hold on' to us when picked up
2. she often seems to prefer sucking on tags from clothes or bibs, rather than sucking toys.
3. She does not always make eye contact when called - however other times she does lots of eye contact.
4. She shows no sign of waving (pointing a bit too soon yet)

we are off to see a ASD specialists on Wednesday for my son, so we will also ask about Amara.

Oh Runner, I'll keep you in my thoughts. It must be distressing for you and your DH having already experienced it with your DS. Let us know how you go at the specialist.

Hi girls!! It's been ages since I posted.....

We're going great here! Ava is sitting up on her own now (YAY!!!) for a few minutes at a time and is enjoying her solids. She has 2 meals a day. Mainly fruits for breakfast and veges for dinner. We just introduced yoghurt also for bfast and she loves it :D
Soon we'll introduce a 3rd meal of the day too (lunch).
Breastfeeding is going really great and she loves her boobie juice!! We're definitely keen to continue until she is 12mths and then hopefully beyond that....!!
Ava wants to stand all the time!! I pull her to a sitting position but she stretches out her legs and goes to stand up and can hold her own weight and stand leaning against the couch or the coffee table!!! I can let go and she can stand there for a few mins... so strong!! She's not that interested in rolling every day but thats just her ;)

Runner - your trip sounds exciting!! I love NZ, i have skied there too!
Sorry to hear about Amara.... it's a good thing to get her checked out.... I must say though by what you said... alot of that stuff Ava isn't doing yet either! So it could just be the way she is developing...you know? It's quite common for babies to like the tags on their toys i've read and heard heaps of that happening. Also Ava doesnt wave. She holds on when I hold her. Ava doesnt always hold eye contact either because there is soooo much exciting stuff around her to look at!!!! She can look at Mum any old time!!!! hehe Try not to worry :hug: let us know how you go.

Very Quick hello. Hope everyone is doing really really well. Fin Is a Delight. WE have only rolled once, but he seems happy to be playing. I'm sure he'll be mobile soon.

MelA - yeah Ava has only rolled a few times and hasnt for a little while now.... I know she'll do it in her own time.. there seems to be so much pressure for them to roll over both ways etc but they all learn differently huh.. she can sit up on her own for a few mins which is great!!!

Soooo true Shanti about bubs doing things in their own time AND in their own order lol. Dash is quite mobile but we have no teeth lol!! In a way I wish he wasn't because now it is crazy in this house and I feel like I don't have my little baby boy anymore!! But happy that I got to see these milestones before I returned to work next week. When people ask how your bubs are they are very quick to rattle off a checklist of things they should be doing...too much pressure. I can remember DD was the first to be mobile in her playgroup but the others could talk 'better' than her and do other things before her. It didn't worry me. Now they are all 2 and you wouldn't know who did what first/last (nor does it matter) as they are all basically 'doing' the same things now and 'caught up' to one and other iykwim. Enjoy this time with your bubs when they are happy just to play and be with you....it goes all too quickly. BTW I hate using the words in ' ' but couldn't think of better words to use this morning lol!


Shanti: Yay for Ava sitting on her own...I saw your pics and she does look cute. DD could crawl around 7 months but couldn't sit until after 8 months - work that one out!! She looks too cute in her MCN's and babylegs as well....very lucky bubba! Hope you have another girl down the track so that she too can wear those beautiful nappies. But imagine the fun you will have if you have a boy getting set up with more boyish MCN's lol!

Runner: Good luck at the appointment next week and I hope everything is fine with Amara's development. When you have a feeling it's best to go with your intstincts and get things checked out. Happy 40th birthday!! I think you are an amazing 40yo mum and aspire to be as fit as you when I get there!!

Mel A: Nice to see you again in the thread and thanks for the update. Fin sounds adorable. Love watching them happily playing with their toys....can watch it for hours.

Dis: You ARE soooooo in love your boys....you can tell!! Any tips on getting DD to share her toys willingly...you seem to be doing a great job?! Now that Dash is pulling himself up and crawling, DD has become extremely interested in him and wont leave him alone. She doesn't know her own strength. She often hurts him without meaning to.....can be a bit distressing and it is hard not to react to her (knowing it is not on purpose and all new to her) but my first instinct is to protect Dash who is crying iykwim. The biggest problem is trying to get her to stop riding him like a horse,oh and the beanbag on his head(might put that away). Crawling is far more terrifying the second time around, well I think so anyway (because he is out of sight quickly with the added 'danger' of DD lol).

Ella's_Mum and Caiden's: A big hello you your bubs....hope you are all well.

AFM: We are enjoying Facebook atm and so are our families....they love the easy access to pics and videos!! Now I don't feel like they are missing out when it is a while between visits. Love looking at your pics as well.

Now that Dash is off and crawling we have been busy fixing the gates to rooms (especially DD's because of the small toys) and baby proofing cupboard doors and draws since he can now open them. These are all the negatives of crawling of course...plus add head bangs on tiled floors, hands caught/jambed in things, takes ages and many attempts to change a nappy and dress DS(can be messy lol)etc. Dash is now sporting 3 band-aids at the moment - one is quite nasty where DD wedged his hand under a door stop and the pulled the door to, taking the skin off his hand. I am feaking out big time about him banging his head (which happens often as he is pulling himself up on most things now) because the hole on top of his (forget what it is called) is still wide open and you can still see it pulsating. It is about the size of a 5 cent piece. Anyone else with this?? Can't really remember with DD but was sure it was closed by the time she was crawling. It will only take one nasty blow.....oh the thought of it!!

Anyway, better go...DD is trying to feed Dash a cheese sick!!

Ren, I know that waving is too soon for our bubs, you are right. What worries me is that she does NOT hold on when picked up or walked around in our arms...even when I have to lean forward to pick something up, she will not clasp onto me. I don't think this is right - just a feeling.

She is responding to her name when I call her most of the time, and physically she is developing about right - she rolls a lot, sits up on her own for about 1-2 mins now and reaches out and gets toys. Eye contact, like I said, varies.

Specialist appointment for Logan tomorrow, and we will ask about Amara....but I have a feeling he will say 'well, we just have to wait and see......'

Runner - yes definitely get Amara checked if it doesn't feel right. You know best you are her Mum ;) Ava will hang on when i bend down to pick something up and yes she does put her arms around me (most of the time) so perhaps just talk to Paed about it but it could all be nothing too :hug: All the best with the appt for your son too.

Luckystar - thanks!! We are so in love with our little girl... and yeah we love her in MCNs they are too cute and the babylegs are really trendy!! My husband came home the other day and said "why is she in a disposable?" (cos she had bum cream on !!) he loves the MCNs toO!!!! Yeah i'd love another little girl or a boy next time it doesnt matter....! I like your kids photos on FB!! Dash has grown so much!!!

Yeah I've been hoping Ava rolls more often soon so that she can have more fun iykwim?? But you are right Linda, I don't want her to get too mobile as I see all these babies growing up too fast and it's a bit sad!!!! :( They aren't very little for long..... I am enjoying my little bub while she's little and not too mobile yet!!! hehe she can take her time.... they all develop at their OWN PACE. She sits up well and can even stand supporting her own weight!!!! :o strong legs.... my hubby walked at 9mths... i hope Ava doesnt !!!!LOL but if she does, thats cool too ;)

We spent the morning painting (non toxic paints!!) on canvas Ava's footprints and handprints!!!! LOL we got covered in paint and both ended up in the shower and now she is fast asleep. I just baked cookies!! Mmmm!!!!

....just came back to move my weight loss ticker!! 1 more kg lost on weigh in today and I have my AF so it could be a little more as I carry fluid around this time. Let's hope. Getting nervous about going back to work. I have one day next week. Please be kind to me kiddies!!

LS, well done on the weight loss! Good luck with going back to work, you might find you drop more weight once you're back at work. I know I dropped heaps after I went back to work after Ben, but he had also given up BFing at the same time and I seem to retain weight while bfing. Are you going back full time? It'll all be fine, we always manage to find a way to do things we need to, but I can tell it's playing on your mind a bit.

Hi everyone,

It has been ages since I last posted but have been keeping up via email updates. It sounds like everyone is going really well with their bubbas. I now have my own computer at home when DH takes his each day so I feel in touch with the world again. Yay! Although i don't always have time to use it anyway with Emily keeping me busy and all the things I have on during the week.

She took ages to roll and was nearly six months when she rolled from back to front and then since then (about 3 weeks) she can roll both ways and often rolls across the room and is now sitting up! Last week she just seemed to get it all. They really do just do things in their own time don't they?

She is still not a great sleeper in the day but seems to be getting better an sleeps well in the night but often has 1-2 feeds and straight back to bed. We are trying to resettle instead of feed but know that takes much more effort and waiting for the right time for us to commit to do this. DH resettled her at 11pm last night and she woke up again at 2pm and I fed her. Our GP said that if she is >6months and >6kg she does not need night feeds but that it is up to us when we want to make the effort to get her out of the routine of night feeds. We generally feed last at 6.30/7pm so hopefully can get her through to a least 6am in the future. She did it the night before last but think that was due to having immunisations that day.

Emily is struggling with solids (won't let us feed her with a spoon) GP said to give her pieces and let her feed herself. She mainy just mushes it on the tray but eats some of it. We are still trying with the spoon but it is soo frustrating especially when she was eating well iwth the spoon but just decided against it! Grrrr

As I am mainly on facebook I am going to PM those who has said they are onfacebook. If I miss anyne else please PM me and we can keep up on facebook.

Hi girls, good to hear everyone is well and enjoying their bubs. There's been way too much going on in here lately so I won't do personals, just general convo.

First, Max is going really well. He got his first tooth on Sunday (bottom left) and then his second on Monday (bottom right)! He had been waking up 2-3 times a night for the past 3 weeks or so (after having been on 1 night feed for ages before that), so maybe that was cos of the teeth. Whatever it was, we've now had 2 nights in a row of him sleeping from approx 7.30pm to 7.30am, which is great! Hope it keeps up! As for day sleeps, Max was a 30 min catnapper until I started wrapping him again. Just like that he went from 3 30 min sleeps to 2 sleeps, usually about 1.5 hours in the morning and 2-3 in the arvo. It's great! (Except when we're out and about and he only has a short sleep, but we'll get used to that.)

Max is having his first sleepover away from us this weekend. We have an engagement party to go to, so Nan and Pop are babysitting. I'm quite looking forward to it, and so far am not too nervous about leaving him. He'll be 7 months on Fri, so I think he is well and truly old enough :)

As for other stuff, Max has just started rolling properly, but still only tummy to back, and only in 1 direction. He first rolled abotu 2 months ago and has done it once or twice since then, but now you can tell he's really got the hang of it. Just throws his head to the side and he's over. He's pretty much sitting on his own, but is still a little unstable so I have to have pillows around for when he overbalances. He's usually ok for a few minutes on his own though. Not very interested in standing or trying to crawl at this stage, but that's fine with me.

Runner, Max isn't waving or anything yet either. And he doesn't always respond when I call him, and doesn't always want to make eye contact. Like Ren said, there are so many things to look at other than Mum - she's always there! Good luck at the docs though, but hopefully you're just more alert to possible signs because of Logan, and there's nothing to worry about.

Lisa - Max isn't great with feeding from a spoon either. Mum thinks maybe I'm still giving him too many breastfeeds and that's the problem - who knows? All I know is, when he's willing to eat, he likes to 'help' me put the spoon in his mouth. The trick is to judge the distnace right so his hand goes around the handle of the spoon (not in the food:)) and to keeo his other hand out of the food! Makes for some very messy mealtimes :). I haven't let him try feeding himself yet, other than just a ruusk, as I can't be bothered with even more mess. I figure he eats when he's hungry, and if he's not hungry, well breastmilk is the best thing for them anyway.

Think this is an epic post by now, so better go do some housework!
