Bindy - that sounds like a good idea, that is to just t/fer her to where you want her to be...we've done this with our girl & our boy too:) Usually once they're asleep they're out to it & dont wake all that much during that t/fer time, lol. And when she wakes in her cot & looks around she will eventually get used to it. So worth trying to keep trying to place her into her cot 1st & she will surprise you one day!
-
Hi lovelies!
Musical beds Bindy? Hope you get a solution that makes everyone happy. You gotta get some sleep somehow!
Jo, Celeste does that sometimes too, just kicks back in her rocker and checks out the world. Luckily she does it in the afternoon, not the middle of the night but lately she likes to be up for about an hour and a half in the early hours, just having a feed and cuddle. Every time I put her down she stirs so up I get again.... Cant bear to hear her cry.
Great news about Maz and little Mat. They deserve some good news finally. Thanks for the update Dayl.
Hawksey, I have yet to try my MCN as I was given a gazillion nb. disposables which we are racing through at the moment. I only got the one size variety but the covers are sized. Celeste is tiny so I'm pretty sure we will get a bit of use out of them. We have a million clothes given to us too and most are too warm or too big at present. Not sure where to put everything. Her cupboard is bursting!!!
Me: Went to hospital for 24hours Tuesday to get this feeding caper sorted out and it was horrible. Terrible. Awful. Celeste was red and blue from screaming and I had tears rolling down my face. Even the midwife was getting upset. BUT we have had success of sorts. She feeds successfully on the right boob. Not at all on the left for some reason. Barb Glare has suggested a baby chiro? I am wondering about that but I have tried football hold on the left too which has her lying on the same side as when she is on my right one and still no luck. Still trying at the beginning and end of each feed and having to express off the left sometimes cause it is sooo sore. Plus she has nearly chopped the nipple off! OK not quite but it feels like it lol.
Well, today is the last day of Jan... must be a few more due in here in the next few days???
-
Sazz, sorry to hear you have had some breastfeeding issues hun. I couldn't handle the sore, bleeding and cracked nipples in the end and Madeleine just wanted so much milk so I went to formula/EBM. I hope it gets better for you though and you work everything out.
Hindonly, yes I hope it works out well with her cot! I can't believe she won't go down into it. Even when she's really asleep and I put her in it, she'll wake straight away and scream. It's unbelievable!!
Madeleine LOVES her bouncer more than life itself! She'll settle straight away once in it and goes to sleep! When I leave the room too, she immediately knows and wakes up! She's really a Mummy's girl this one...does anyone else's Bubs love their bouncer as much as Madeleine does?
Hoping I have a great night again. Last night she slept 7 hours and night before was 8 hours! Oh please let it be a great night.
-
Wow Bindy! So jealous of your sleeps!!! Are you giving Madeleine formula inthe evening? Is that why she sleeps so long? Just wondering. BTW do you pronounce her name Line or Lyn?
Well I am going to have to wake my little blossom up for a feed or we will be behind all night. Dont like to do it but she wakes so well and is a smiley little thing straight away so I dont feel too bad.
Have a good night everyone
-
Hi Sazz, she is now a full formula fed baby, has been for over a week now. We pronounce her name as "lyn". Have a great night ;)
-
Hi mummies sorry I feel like I pop in and out, lurk and never really contribute..
Maz my heart and prayers are going out to you :hugs: when I read the posts I had tears in my eyes, it's been such a bumpy ride for you and Matt I hope things settle down soon, big cuddles mummy I know your strong but you have big shoulders here you can always lean on :hugs:
I finally got a chance to make some birth/thank you announcement cards to send out and edit some pictures to add to the net so atleast I feel like I'm getting somewhere. Luca is finaly giving me a few hours sleep at night YAY! I say "few" because as you all can relate 2 to 4 hours at a time is a good sleep. BF'ing is going well now that the grazing is healing and all seems to be going really well for us (touch wood).
Ok I will promise to come back very soon and keep up with all the chatter... no really!! I swear!! honest!
-
Hi Girls,
Well I am still waiting on this baby boy of mine to make his entrance - it looks like I will most likely go a week over my due date...like my 3rd son.
I was wondering whether I would still be welcome into this thread even if he ends up being a Pisces baby (19th Feb) hehe. I don't think it would be healthy for me to let my pregnancy go that far - but at the moment I feel like this could go on forever.
I would love to hang around the Jan thread and chat to you all if that is okay, as I have spoken to some of you already, I like to hop all over the forum anyway there are so many interesting topics on here.
Hugs
Karen
-
Joralyd, that's cool you pop in and out, great to hear from you! I am really glad your breastfeeding is going well.
Karen, you make sure you stay in this thread!! I would love to keep chatting with you. Oh I am sending you lots of labour vibes. You get so "over it" toward the end don't you! I remember feeling that way and just couldn't wait to meet Madeleine.
Well Madeleine has been asleep since 7.30pm, her last feed. I wonder if I will be lucky tonight like the last two nights, feeding at 4am and 5am??? She's asleep in her bouncer at the moment, going to try and put her in her cot tonight, unsure how I will go, hoping it won't be too hard!
-
Karen- Of course we would like you to stay here with us! Dont you go anywhere:) I'm hoping Jess & Jen will still come here with us too since we know them so well...
Bindy - I dont think it really matters where bub is sleeping - cot/bed as long as she is sleeping well & there is no drama about it all! The fact that she is sleeping so well is great - I say keep doing what you are doing because its working:) The most our boy has slept has been 5 hrs which I'm quite happy with. And of course they do say that formula fed bubs sleep longer! My bub is still getting a few boobie feeds here & there...
Sazz- LOL. You're bub loves the right boobie & mine the left! for some reason he just doesn't like feeding from my right side! No idea why but I reckon I must be drying up there or will be soon, lol. So I'll be getting around with one boobie bigger than the other for awhile I guess, funny isn't it! Sorry to hear bub & you had such a horrible time of it while trying to work it all out too:( Not nice seeing your bubs so distressed is it, but at least you have it worked out somewhat:) You'll get there. Can be quite painful too cant it! I've felt alot of pain trying to b'feed! ouch
Tiff - Great to hear from you too! We also had some birth announcement cards made up & they just look so good:) We've already sent half but Im just waiting now for Dh to get me some more addresses for the envelopes! Its a nice personal touch isn't it:) Glad you're going well!
Jo- I think all babies are different in regard to feeding amounts. Up to a wk I think its something like 50ml but after that it is 100ml for a little bit. But my boy is sometimes bit of a pig too!! He'll have his 100ml then want more and he'll take it too:) Then he's quite happy & dozes off, lol. Sometimes they just need that little bit more!
Carol
-
Tiff - Hi, nice to meet you! I'm relatively new in here too. I hope you pop in every now and again and have a chat.
Karen - Of course you're welcome in here. It doesnt seem too busy which is great - I can keep up! That is the reason why I didnt stay with the December Baby Buddies - way too busy (4 pages a day) of posts.
Bindy - How did Madeleine go in her cot last night? And did she sleep right through again? I have to say I'm so jealous! Fraser woke every 2.5 hours last night but I think it is my own fault (see question below) ....
I have a question for you all - how long does your baby sleep during the day? Fraser seems to be waking every 2-3 hours during the night for feeds (around 10pm, 1am, 3.30am and 5.30am) and I think it is because he sleeps too much during the day. He slept for 7 hours on and off yesterday but usually it is between 5-6 hours. Is this too much? Is this why he is getting up so much during the night?
-
TD - My bub sleeps alot during the day as well! Not alot of wake time & I s'pose that does have something to do with how they sleep at night... I think they will soon regulate themselves & work out what they should be doing day/night. They are still a bit confused and are still working it out,LOL. Does your bub go straight back to sleep after feeding ? If he does its not so bad! Although if he's taking a bit of time to settle again that will really wear you down some! My boy isn't too bad - but cant wait til he works it out!! Cause trying to keep a bubby up during the day isn't easy when they are so dosey kwim, lol.

Hi ladies,
well, my normal midwife came back from holidays yesterday and she's not happy with Amy's weight gain so I am officially a cow being milked now every 3 hourly feed. Amy just isn't sucking for long enough to get enough milk and so my milk started to decrease. So now I have to work on getting my supply up. Had to go to the hosp to see the lactation consultant today. Am on Maxolon every 8 hours and need to feed 3 hourly. Haven't been getting much milk expressed but it is increasing so we'll see. Have another weighing on Sunday to see how she's going. If the Maxolon doesn't work, I can go to a naturopath or formula it is. So wish me luck with the bo'obies. I'm not too worried about going on formula at all. It will just be so nice to not have to worry about the feeding and start enjoying my baby and all the other things that come along with being a mum. Prob won't be on here much over the next few days cos I need to sleep before I totally lose it. My problems are nothing compared to what Maz and little Mateauz is going through. My thoughts are with you all Maz xxx Luv Nik and Amy xxx
-
Hindonly, it is good that she is sleeping and a really happy Bub. I guess being a first time Mum, you always have questions whether or not you are doing the right thing!
Dayl, negative about the cot! She didn't go down into it at all and was screaming. I cuddled her and she went straight to sleep, she's definately a Mummy's girl isn't she! I hope you work out why Fraser is waking every 2.5 hours.
Nik, good luck with getting your supply up hun! Madeleine is on formula and she's a happy Bub, it's really not bad being on formula. I'm sure there are Mums out there that disagree with it but I am such a happy Mum now I don't have to worry about the breastfeeding issues. I guess each to their own but if you really want to breastfeed and you are all for it then I hope it works out for you! Good luck
Madeleine was feeding 120-160mL every 3 to 3.5 hours...now she is taking 100mL every 2.5 hours...does anyone know why this would be so? At night, she'll take in a 160mL feed though! Hmmm...puzzles me.
Waiting for my cheeky monkey to wake up for a feed and then we'll be off to the shopping centre to grab a couple of things and have a family outing.
Have a great day everyone!
Love Bindy xo
-
Oh Nik, sorry to hear you are having a hard time with supply :( It is really the hardest thing about a baby I think, the bf thing! I know what you mean about trying to enjoy the new baby time but getting caught up with all the feeding caper. Just keep doing your best and be rest assured you have done what you could! Amy is lucky to have a Mum who is working so hard at it :)
Dayl & Hindonly, I think your bubs are still working day/night out too. Celeste is slowly getting there but we spend each night awake for 1+1/2 - 2 hours in the early hours then she has a good solid sleep in the late morning. I am waking her to feed every 3 hours inthe arvo and she then snacks on and off all evening. I am hoping that she is full enough to sleep for a good block in the night then. Last night she was down from 11.30pm till 4.15am which is her longest ever but then awake till almost 6am. It is tricky isnt it?
Hindonly, I am worried that my supply might slow on the left now too. I was exclusively expressing for the first 10days and my supply was getting huge but now that she has been boob only for almost 3 days the left isnt getting much of a work out. It is getting quite sore underneath and, Oh my, my poooor nipple!!! I swear she is trying chop it right off! Plus I am kind of a redhead and they usually get sorer for some reason? I am wondering if it is just my technique isnt so good on the left? I use transition hold and my left hand to guide the nipple in which isnt exactly my good hand... seeing the Cafs nurse again on tues so will get some more tips then.
Bindy, I say keep doing whatever works!!! My friends have a cosleeper cause that is all that would work for them and they dont care what anyone else says. As long as she is getting good restful sleep so she can grow, that is all that matters (and that it is a safe place of course).
Hi Tiff, I feel the same sometimes, that I dont come on for days at a time. Im pretty sure everyone here understands. Plus you have 2 others to care for too!!! Good to hear that things are going so well for you now. Lets touch wood on that one!
Sending labour vibes to Karen, Jess and Jen... Come on bubbas, your Mums are eager to meet you!
Me; didnt cry at all yesterday or today so far! Yay! lol. Celeste is confusing me with her feeding messages. I cant work out if she wants more or needs burping or what! On the bottle I knew how much she was getting and could work out what she needed but now I have no idea, especially since my attachment isnt the greatest and I wonder if she is on properly and actually getting anything. I guess she isnt even 2 weeks yet so I will get to know her better soon... She has changed so much already. I said to her yesterday when I picked her up from a 3hour sleep "have you changed since I put you down only 3hours ago?" She just smiled, so I took that for a "yes". lol.
-
Morning everyone!
Lots of interesting discussions at the moment, will try for some personals today if missy stays sleeping!
Sazz, for the hospital stay, it sounds like it was a nightmare for you but glad some good came out of it. Hope you continue to improve and work out what is right for the two of you and your sanity! I havent cried today either!!
Bindy, Adeline likes her bouncer when she is awake and bounces happily for awhile, but then will start screaming- I think she feels abandoned in it- she is happy when I stay there and chat to her but if I move away (ie back to watch tv) she cries! We do a little cosleeping, my DH is better than I am, during the night after a feed Addy can stay restless and want cuddles- Dh puts her against him and they sleep for hours. When I do it she often nuzzles for a feed, or I cant sleep cause I wake scared that I have rolled on her!
Karen, hon you dont need our permission to stay with this thread, its a public forum remember. I think your confidence is down from last week!! Just stay, chat and know you are welcome.
Dayl, we arent in a regular pattern yet for day sleeps. I think we are sleeping and feeding better in the day and awake and unsettled more at night. I am not too worried though. I have been reading a pinky mackay book about babies and have decided that I agree with her that bubs dont actually know routine and she will sort herself out in good time! As long as I get some sleep, I am doing ok!
Nik, hugs on the weight gain and feeding issues. You sound like mentally you are doing really well with it all. Dont forget you can offload on us anytime!
-
Hi everyone!
Just thought I would let you know that I have written Celeste's birth story up. Sorry it is a bit long!!!
-
Hindonly - Thanks for the info re daytime sleeping. I must admit that although he does wake every 2.5 - 3 hours during the night, he is very easy to put back in his cot so I shouldnt really complain and when I get up in the morning I'm not too tired as our night time feeds only last about 15 minutes. I guess there are others out there a lot worse off.
NikW - Good luck with the weight gain and your weigh in again on Sunday. Like Bindy, I started out determined to only breastfeed and when it didnt go to plan, I felt a little guilty about going to formula but now, I wouldnt change anything. I love formula feeding and Fraser is thriving on it. I was expressing for the first four weeks but slowly my supply dwindled to almost nothing so it just isnt worth my time expressing now just to give him one feed a day of breastmilk.
Bindy - Fraser usually eats between 40-60ml at a time during the day and sleeps in 3 hour blocks and 90-120ml at night and also sleeps in 2.5 - 3 hour blocks so I dont know what the deal is. I guess he knows how much he wants to eat and how much he wants to sleep and he is healthy and happy so I"m going to let him work his own routine out. I was also reading something on the internet about co-sleeping and it is being more and more recommended by health professionals so if it is working for you, I say stick with it.
Sazzafrass - Celeste sounds about the same as Fraser as far as eating/sleeping patterns go. Like I said above, I"m going to let Fraser work his own little routine out because it isnt like I"m up with him for hours at night. He is very good at night.
Hawksey - I feel for you! We have our unsettled period around 5-6pm (just in time for when Daddy comes home to take over!!!) and I would hate it if it was during the night like you. I guess I should count myself lucky. At least you're getting sleep though so that is one good thing.
Well, I'm not going to try to keep Fraser awake again. He got really cranky and then he wouldn't feed so I ended up with a screaming squawking tired and hungry baby who wouldnt settle until about 30 minutes ago and although he seems to be asleep, I think it is a really light sleep as he keeps crying out in his sleep which means we are probably in for a rough afternoon too! He only drank 30ml before heading off to sleep so I dont think he'll be down for long. It seems I've created a vicious cycle now for the rest of the day (and probably night too). You live and learn.
-
Hi Ladies,
Still here and no movement at the station...
Sazz I just read your birth story. OMG what a time Celeste put you through! Wow is all I can say.
-
Hi Ladies, hope everyone is having a good day.
God I wish there was some decent food in this house...!! DP keeps bringing things home for (& making, bless him) dinner but seems to forget that I also need to eat when he's not here!
Bindy - I am impressed by your positive attitude on going out/shopping with bub - I have been contemplating taking Scally into work to see everyone for a week, decided I'd go today but realised this morning before I got out of bed that one of the main people I want to see her doesn't work today... aw damn... lol ;) Now I'll have to talk myself into going sometime next week... it's just that I keep thinking of negative scenarios, like what if she starts screaming & will not stop?!
Dayl - IKWYM about keeping baby awake, I've done that accidentally a couple of times, thinking 'She'll sleep if she's tired' but oooooohhhh no. I don't think there is much worse than an overtired baby... I have certainly learnt my lesson!!
Hawksey - I haven't said this yet, thought it but forgot to say, Adeline is a lovely name... :)
Has anybody heard anything of Maz...?? I hope things are going great for them.
Scarlett has been waking up every 15-20mins for the last hour, has about 3 sucks on bb the goes back to sleep!! As long as she's not screaming I don't mind atm.
Our co-sleeping has been going extremely well, she's sleeping longer at night now & settling quite quickly after her feeds, although her feeds are still quite long at night. Often I feed her while I'm still lying down & she is swaddled & we both end up asleep in the end.
Ooh, there is a bit of a grizzle, might go get myself a drink before I'm on Mummy duty again....

Hi Everyone,
My body is being treated like a holiday resort as of today - I really am interested in what triggers labour and how the baby or body knows it is time - because consciously I am over it.
Bindy and Jo - my 1st and 3rd son's had blocked tear ducts.
My third son was worse in terms of controlling infection and the length of time he had it - his eye continually watered and would get infected (despite massage, breast milk did help though - esp. with the reddening around his eye), people always asked about it because his eye was always watery and red. We used antibiotics on and off to control it, antibiotics you're not meant to use for more than a few days.
His eye finally cleared up completely around 6 months ago (it was all of a sudden). It was getting to the point where our GP said he would have to go off to a specialist to have treatment - but I am glad we gave it some more time - apparently the op doesn't always work and it can flare back up again. I think you are not able to take bubby for the surgery until after 6 months, however I got told it generally clears up by around the 12 month mark on its own.
-
Hi girls I made it back woohooo! except I forgot everything I just read arg! i'll try and remember some things...
On the breast feeding subject I also have a left side feeder LOL although it's better now I ended up with grazing and the start of mastitus so I had to get him over to the dark side before It got too bad, thankfully he's worked it out now.............oh speaking of boobies, I'll be back later need to feed Luca
-
Hey girls,
I've just been hanging out in the Jan buddies thread with Jen and Jess. I can't wait 'til we're all in here together...
Hope everyone's going great.

Hello Lovely Mummies and Bubbies,
Maz.. Thinking of you!
Been ages since my last "check in". Thought on posting my birth story and my breastfeeding story as well. Sorry for the lack of personals. Im not sure when ill be able to catch up on that!
JOSHUA's Day of Arrival.
Ok.. On Wednesday 23rd I was booked in for another Midwife appt as I was 41+4 weeks. She did an Internal Examination and found me about 1cm dilated. Was booked in then for a induction for the following evening using the gel. On Thursday, DH and I went out shopping.. bowling.. hanging out with my family. Was experiencing some BH in the morning.. but by the afternoon they got a little more intense. Once at the hospital the midwife did another internal and found that I had dilated to 2cm. She "stirred" things up a little more and said that we where free to go home and let "nature" do the rest. Once I was home.. I was in labour.. !!! Did not sleep a wink. Paced the living room. Watched a little telly. TIRED to sleep. The contractions where getting to about 3-4 min apart .. but as the sun came up... they slowed right down!! HOW FRUSTRATING!!! I was due to return to Hospi at 7am so no need to rush now! At the hospi they did another internal... YAY... more dilated. So my waters where broken and the show was on the road. I had the gas, but found it made me loose focus and feel kinda sick. So the bath and shower where my friend. I think I screamed the whole ward to attention.. !! Funny when I think back.
Then at around 5pm that night the midwife was noting the baby's heartbeat and during my contractions .. the heart rate was dropping very low.. then steadily get back to normal between the contractions. Seeing I had been awake for 36 hours and in labour for a good part of that.. they called the doc's in. Baby was far enough down to deliver vaginally.. PHEW!! The doctors pulled him out via suction cap. OUCH!!! Joshua Damien was born at 6.10pm. Thankfully .. after the tests where done on his ambilical cord... he was pulled out in time! Any longer.. as I was later told.. and his oxygen supply would have been cut off!!! SCARY!! I ended up with a third degree tear but the little angel was well worth it!
I have had some breast feeding problems.. due to his tongue being stuck to his mouth more forward than the norm. Seems to be in the family I was later told by my mum. So he can not stick is tongue out as far as the rest of us. And that .. apparently... is hindering my latching on! We are doing ok now. After him loosing more weight once home.. and being told he need to eat!! DUH!! My boobies where SO SORE.. I cried and cried thinking it was never going to get better! I persisted.. and although my nipples are still sore.. the little man is feeding well.. and the pain of initial latching on is only brief.
Ok .. that was enough rambling on from me. The little man is due for another boobie.. so id better get going. Hopefully I can settle in a "routine" of some description and catch up with all you lovely ladies some more very soon. Fabulous to read everyone's stories!
Take Care:D

Hi ladies,
Am here pumping away as usual. Very tiring but hopefully it will pay off. My boobies are fuller but nothing like they were when my milk first came in. The most I've been able to express is 40ml. For some reason I get more late at night. Must be because I'm too tired to stress out......she's been a boobie monster today. hopefully that's a positive sign, although she sucks really well for max 10 minutes and then kinda just gives up and bludges....oh well. weigh in tomorrow will tell us how she's going....
Tascha - thanks for the birth story. so glad everything turned out well. breast feeding can be so difficult!
thanks for the well wishes everyone else. It's so nice to be part of this group. i can't believe some people would have bad opinions of women who use formula. I mean if you have no other choice because your body or your baby just aren't working in sync, what do they expect you to do, let your little one starve?! Anyway, i better go before she wakes up again. today has been interesting to say the least. there we go, she's now stirring. thanks again for the kind words ladies. sorry for the lack of personals xxx nik and amy
-
Hi girls, Tascha thanks for your birth story I'm so glad Joshua came safely  Nik I hope Amy picks up her feeding soon so you don't have to express for too long.
-
Nik, can't wait to hear how much Amy weighs, good luck tomorrow! As for people forming opinions on formula fed babies, it's really unfair as Madeleine is now formula fed and is so happy. I am happy too and we really enjoy each other every day. I don't care what anyone thinks, it's about Madeleine and I and what makes us happy. Every baby is different, every Mum is different. My little girl is healthy and that's all that matters to me.
Thanks Tascha for sharing your birth story.
Karen, I was over it too! I took EPO, RLT and DTD a bit to bring Madeleine on but still chose to be induced (even though I was 2cm dilated anyway!) at 40w+3d! I was sooooooooooooo over it at the end and was glad when I met my little one!!
Queen, you'll go out soon and love it! Scarlett will be fine. As for co-sleeping, that's fantastic it's going well. Madeleine also co-sleeps with us and it's awesome! She won't go down in her cot no matter how much we try anyway. But she fed at 6.30pm last night and didn't wake until 4.30am this morning for a feed. So that's a 7, 8 and 10 hour break this week...hopefully she's cut out that early morning feed because we're getting more sleep, she's happy and everything is going well. Let's cross our fingers though!
Dayl, yeah will stick with the co-sleeping for now, nothing else is working anyway! Hope Fraser is well!
Hawksey, isn't it funny how they love their bouncers! Madeleine adores hers to sleep in all day.
Thanks Sazz, will carry on with the co-sleeping!
Today was a good day, Madeleine smiled tonnes, we went to visit Nanny and Pop, it was fun. I get sad though because my Dad passed away from a long illness in August last year (while I was pregnant) and I wish he was here to see Madeleine :( but I know he's at peace now and watching over her. She'll only have my DP's Dad and I will make sure she knows all about her Pa who died last year. I really miss you Dad :(
Well off to have some dinner, my DP has cooked us pasta!
Have a good night everyone.
Love Bindy xo

I went through the same feelings with my first baby, he was born with a high palette and I had flat nipples so it made bf'ing a bit tricky, I started using nipple shields in the hospital and then I couldn't get off them, when they weighed him he wasn't gaining weight and by 6 weeks the pediatrition said I need to suppliment his feeds with formula, well ofcourse he wouldn't go back to the breast after having it so easy with the bottle so I ended up in tears and fully bottle feeding, I tried expressing but only got a little out at a time and I was exhausted. I was devistated I felt like a falure and was pretty sensative to what people would say but I look back now and I think I was more worried about what others thought than what was actually the best thing for my boy kwim? It's an emotional roller coaster we all want to do the best and we're all told breast is best but it's not always possible. Bindy good on you for trying and your right it IS what's best for baby and you than is most important
...... Wow listen to me! I think I must have issues still
Here's a question for you all is anyone using a dummy? and have you had anyone put their oppinion to you about them?
-
Sorry i havent been in here lately Ladies had friends & family visiting and been busy being a mum SO WEIRD!!.
I've been checking in and reading the posts but cant remember what has been said my baby brain has been in overdrive haha.
Tiff- i've given Sophie a dummy a few times and MIL wasnt too impressed but didnt stop me from giving it to her. I only use the dummy to settle her otherwise i dont use it.
-
Hi everyone! Congratz to everyone I've missed and thank you to all the gilrs how wrote on our birth anouncement. We've been home for 1 week today and Flynn is doing really well. Mel so great to see you again

Tiff: Was just reading your last post about b/f your first child. It sounds exactly like what happened to me recently with Bodie. I felt like a failure too, but am getting used to formula feeding now, the more people you speak to the more mothers have forumla fed. My SIL bottle fed too so I didn't feel too bad. It's just what feels right for the mum and bub.
I didn't use a dummy with Bodie for the first 3 weeks but like Jo said I just use one to settle him to sleep. I think the Tommie Tippee ones are the best, tried the Avent ones but the ball on the end wasn't big enough.
Mel: Good to see you in here! Glad to hear Flynn is going well. I know what you mean by the weather and what to dress them. Tonight it's raining here but very humid so I think I'll put Bodie in just a singlet and nappy then put some socks. Then I'll wrap him in a light wrap. He always seems to pull his arms out anyway.
Well Bodie has been sleeping better (every 4 hours) which is great for us as a few days ago he was awake from midnight right through to 6am! So it has been good getting sleep in between feeds.
He's alot more alert now and seems to focus on alot more things. It makes me wonder what he can see now, if he can see normally?
We're getting Foxtel on Tuesday!!! YAY! I'm so sick of those Infomercials (stupid proactive) during the night. LOL
Anyways better go, hi to everyone else!
April & Bodie xo

April- Sophie is like Bodie isnt keen on having her arms wrapped either, but i've perserved to wrap her arms and if she is a houndi & gets them out so be it but atleast i tried haha, Sophie did a full houndi the other day in the bouncer got her arms out and then kicked the blanket off  Woohoo on getting foxtel, but i'm sorry to be the one to break it to you but you'll still get thr infomercials on foxtel but atleast you'll be able to change the channel.

Hi ladies,
Amy has put on 100g in 3 days! Yay! Although the maxalon isn't working as well as it should be because when I express I'm only getting about 30ml at a time and it's not increasing. So am off to see a naturopath to see what they can do. If that doesn't work, I will join the ranks of formula feeding mummies seeing as I will have done EVERYTHING in my power to get these boobies working. The thought of formula feeding doesn't worry me but I would always wonder if I didn't try. So wish me luck! At least Amy's putting on weight though. That's the main thing.
April - I curse proactive every time it comes on because it usually means that the only other thing to watch is the tele evangelists....No thanks! I've never watched so much tv in my life. I can't believe how raunchy some of those late night ads are too!!
Jo - I know what you mean about them being houdinis!! Amy will wriggle and wriggle and wriggle until she at least gets a couple of fingers out of the wrap! Hahaha.
Thanks for all the well wishes ladies. I'm just looking forward to giving this naturopath a go and if that doesn't work, finally getting a long term plan for feeding into action. At the moment I just feel like I"m up in the air. Well better go, my little girl is due for another feed. Chat soon xxx Luv Nik and Amy

Hey girls, it's a bit late but there is still time for y'all to have a look, there is an auction on this WAHM site to raise some funds for Maz & her precious prince. Great idea I think, hope everything starts to look up for them soon.

Well I am still waiting for baby to come, Alexander my eldest son's birthday was on Thursday last week and now coming up to my third son's 2nd birthday on Friday. Let's see if I can birth this baby right in the middle.
Baby number 4 feels like he is going to fall out any moment and BH are getting stronger but are still irregular. There is so much pressure down below (TMI), I don't know why he hasn't come out yet. I am so close to not being pregnant again - but it feels like this is taking forever.
I want to be holding my baby like you girls!!!
To stop sounding totally self-absorbed... for any of you ladies who are having problems with breast feeding, i.e. attachment issues, weight issues etc - I went to a lactation consultant after my second son was born because he was a naughty, greedy and impatient baby (according to the doctor) lol - I found her to be really supportive because I was having a terrible time, and a terrible time keeping my milk up.
Anyway thought I would add that piece of breast feeding info...so it is not just all pregnant poor old me whinging in your ears.

Hi Girls
I havent posted in a while been a bit busy with Riley and Kinder and 2 children is a little different than one IYKWIM!:cryinglaugh: But all is well with Jemma she is growing rapidly as far as I know anyway but see the health nurse today so shes on as of yesterday evrey second feed of formula due to me being over feeding already:rolleyes: I love it in lots of ways but hate it in others guess i should just get over it as I have never had any dramas with feeding with both kidlets but I just dont think its really for me thats all feel selfish when some of you really wanted to do it but cant or couldnt but I spose everyones different hey at least I can say I am getting her off to a good start with Breast milk and then swapping to formula hopefully wont be too scrutinsed (sp?) by the older generation of family:redface: So I am thinking by six weeks (she is 4weeks tomorrow) I will wean her off totally for me I know but she doesnt mind the bottle at all:)
Ummm has anyone had poo issues I am wondering if its the formula... But she hasnt pooed in 4 or 5 days Argh and before that it was heaps then went to one every second day now nothing!??? I know they can go upto 10days without a poo though so not too worried just would like her to be more regular so we dont get that power poo soon that goes everywhere Aaahhhh;)

Hi everyone,
Sorry I have been MIA for the past few days, just been busy with everything and packing for our move IYKWIM!
Kristie, on the breastfeeding issue, it really wasn't for me either. I really praise all those women out there that perservere with it, cracked/bleeding/sore nipples and everything! I certainly couldn't keep going, I was crying at every feed and there was no way I was going to be unhappy as I'm sure Madeleine was picking up on it! She's now a FF baby and is super healthy and happy. I don't find making up the bottles a hassle at all. Good luck with the poo issue...Madeleine does a big one every day and it goes everywhere....!
Karen, sending you lots of labour vibes.
Nik, so happy that Amy has put on weight, awesome news. If you have to go on formula then I'm sure that will be fine.
Joralyd, well said on the breastfeeding thing! I totally agree with you. Happy Mummy = Happy Baby.
Well we are moving on Saturday so I will be MIA for a while as the internet at our new place won't be up and running until approximately 20 February so I won't be coming on at all for a while. Don't worry though, I'll be back before you know it. I'm sure you won't miss me...always so much else to talk about, lol
-
Hi everyone!
Bindy, how could you imagine we wouldnt miss you!!!??? Of course we will! Good luck with a smooth move with a newborn, you are a brave woman!
Kristielee, dont know about the poo thing. Celeste is having spraypoos almost every feed still. She is 10days younger than Jemma though and BF only. Maybe the FF is why?
Nik, So glad that Amy is putting on weight! It really makes you feel you are doing a great job doesnt it? Hope things continue to work out for you in that area. :)
As for late night tv, phleeeuurgh. Terrible. At least when I was in hospital the tennis was on, not that I paid much attention. The nurses would come in and comment on it and I would realise that I had been staring vacantly at it for ages lol. Brain not engaged at that time hehe.
On the feeding topic: I am so happy that everyone in here is so understanding and supportive of each other. We are all individuals and so are our gorgeous bubs and each situation is different for each of us. I have really struggled with the BF thing but we are slowly getting there and I am determined to keep going. That said, I am totally in agreeance with you all that for those that it doesnt work out for FF is the way to go!!! There is no point having a miserable time for the first months of your relationship together, where all your memories are clouded by the misery of feeding problems. Same goes for co-sleeping or cloth nappies, dummies or whatever else.
Question: those of you that co-sleep, how exactly does it work? Like if bub goes to sleep at 8pm do you put him/her in your big bed till you go in there later? What about when they get more mobile? Do they sleep in the cot in the daytime? How do you stop them from going under the covers? Just curious.
Celeste has developed a routine of snacking on and off all evening, like every half hour to hourly. Then she goes off for a proper sleep around 9 or 10pm. She sleeps for around 4+1/2hours but then is awake for at least 2 hours till she goes off for another 4 or so hours. It is driving me crazy! Last night she was awake from 12.30 till after 3.30am!!! I am so glad I went to bed at 9.30 when she did! I dont know how to fix this. I am trying to wake her every 3 hours in the daytime for a feed to make her sleepier at night but dont know if this is setting up a pattern of needing smaller, more frequent feeds in the night too. Any suggestions? Also, I thought maybe a dummy would help to settle her so she doesnt think she needs a feed all that time she is awake but she doesnt seem to want one. Maybe this is confusing her? Aargh, I just dont know!
-
Hi Sazz, the issues you are having with Celeste sound just like me last week.... I felt like absoloute cr@p lol!! I didn't do anything to 'fix' it though, she just seemed to settle down on her own, felt like she was permanently feeding for a while there though, she's not perfect now ofcourse but has been sleeping better at night. The major issue is that she WILL NOT go down after her afternoon sleep until atleast 11pm... Some people have said they have growth spurts around 2 & 4 weeks so perhaps that was/is it??
As for co-sleeping, Scally has been sleeping in her cot during the day then she comes to bed with me when she feels like going down at 11.
My princess won't have a dummy either... much to my dissappointment !!

Thanks QM, it is nice to know that things are normal even when they dont feel like it! It makes me feel better to know that others have/are experiencing the same things. Not that I want others to have sleepless nights and sore boobs but YKWIM!
Sore boobies: We are sort of getting the hang of the left boob now also but dont have the technique quite right yet. There are a few small cracks there and that doesnt help with getting her on properly either. Have CYH nurse here in a few minutes so hope to get that sorted a bit better today. I am wondering if she is not getting as much out of that side as it is quite throbby and painful deep in the breast tissue, not just the nipple, like it isnt draining properly. Must sort that out too... better write a list me thinks.
Hope everyone gets a nap this arvo... :)
