Well a quick question for all, I'm struggling a little trying to get Isabel to sleep she just throws these crying fits and scratches me (you should see my chest) :( it takes me at least 10mins before she calms down and takes her dummy once she is asleep it's great but getting her there is what is driving me crazy. Today I bought the book "what every parent needs to know" so I'm hoping that gives me some answers otherwise I'm going to have to try out Tweddle. Does anyone have any advice for me I'm at my wits end.

Zee - CONGRATS WITH THE HOUSE! That's fantastic news. It's so exciting, isn't it. The packing is the worst and I'm putting mine off. LOLLLLLLL! If we had and lollies here I def. wouldn't have been handing them out. I would have been scoffing into them myself. :lol:

Mez - I've been having issues sort of like that with Hayden's day sleeps. Have you tried a swing? When Hayden is going crazy I usually turn to the swing cause he's so overtired and fights it with everything he has. I have to keep putting the dummy in a heap of times though, that's the only annoying thing. No other ideas. I'm sorry she's being like that. Big hugs :hug: :hug: I've never heard of Tweddle before. I googled it though so I didn't feel like a complete idiot.

OH! He has learnt to say the word "NO". I know, most do by now.. he had his own way of saying no by shaking his head and saying "ehh".. but i think since this morning he now says "noaaw".. and you know what ive heard all day.. "Noooaaww" :rolleyes:
Found a stroller! Cant wait to test drive it! Other than around the house. Its going to be so much better.. now least Keira can have a good look around and Jesse be able to sleep better.

Zee.. yeh the toddler seat on ours reclines also but its still to upright i think. I can imagine after a day of being out in the toddler seat sitting up, all her insides will be squished being she doesnt have the stomach muscles yet to support her being so upright. Dont think it would be the best thing for her. Congrats on the house. Youll have to take a pic of that tooth!

Mez.. yep! Its a side by side.. Babylove um.. Odyssey i think? In black. Its great already! Going to be so much better for both kids. I think the Phil & Teds is just a lot of hype tbh.. not very practical for 2 kids. Oh you poor thing. Keira's started to get a little attitude too. If she doesnt get what she wants she has a fit. We've found what she likes is to sleep on her side and she has to have a blanket or sheet to cuddle. Weird i know at such a young age but thats what she always wants. Are you sleeping Izzy on her back? We still do Keira on her back at night but during the day when i can keep an eye on her, shes on her side. Maybe something like that? Otherwise does she have a rocker or anything? um.. do you have a stroller or pram inside? How does she go in that? Maybe you could try rocking her in it? Is she tired when youre trying to put her down? Remember as time goes on they will end up sleeping less and less and be awake for longer periods. Just go on the tired signs if she shows any.

Tenny.. what type of pram do you have? Oh der you wouldnt need one for Elijah hey. ;)

Keiras been a poo head all night. She actually rolled over on the floor.. well pretty much onto her tummy with her arm under her body and fell asleep like that. Ill have to upload her pic. But she carried on for a bit so decided to feed her and get her ready for bed. She wasnt falling asleep so i just went and put her in her cot, music on. Heard a few squaks a few minutes ago but now theres silence.. so fingers crossed!

Thankyou all, we are going up tomorrow to perve at it again LOL.. it was an old house thats been all done up, inside and out. New stuff on the outside of the house, new roof, new kitchen, bathroom, floor boards through out the house (YAY no more white tiles and light brown carpet..spill as much as you like Laila), all freshly painted..the only thing we have to do is a garage, veranda & landscape cause the garden is $hit. It will be fun though!

I didnt want to till I returned to work but DH wanted to and was pushing to buy a house here in Sydney and I seen this house and fell in love with it straight away..its also a quite area like the country just with beaches so my little feral Laila can scream all she wants LOL

Mary- Ooh I might see you in Fiji.. depends where abouts you go and we go. Some beach resort but dunno which one yet.
Sorry no advice hun as im having the same trouble as you with Lucas..im scratched to pieces aswell. Lucas hates our swing aswell, always worked on Laila but not him (HUGS) I hope she snaps out of it soon.

Arhh.. what a week

Zee - congrats on the house honey :hug: I'm sure its beautiful - you'll have to put some pics on facebook when you move in. good luck with the move - I love packing - i get to throw so much crap out!!!!

Kel - ahhh the dreaded NO... nearly as good as the MINE.. lol....DS is talking so much now - well unless he is chucking a tantie. Then he loses all the ability of talking english and talks whingy instead - and I keep telling him that I don't understand that!!! LOL... would you believe Keira is 1kg heavier than Miss M? lol

Mez - is she getting too overtired? I've found Miss M's rhythm during the day - she feeds, stays up for a max of 2 hours (so an hour before her next feed) and will fall asleep quite easily if I rock her. When she is having a rough time (ie, screaming match) I put her dummy in her mouth, roll her in my arms so her belly is against me, and hold her arms beside her body really tightly (so I let her fight against me) and I sing to her - usually "five little ducks" or the song from "three men and a baby" you know that one? Goodnight sweetheart, well its time to gooooo... lol.. DH does it too and she usually settles quite quickly. :hug: (OH - and cut her nails so she can't scratch ya ;))

Weighed and measured DD myself today - she is 67cm long, and weighs 5.7kg.. so long and skinny!! DH is betting she'll be the successful basketballer in the family.. lol... sooooo won't take after me - short butt that I am...

Oh well guess I should go to bed...

basically a family stay service where people experiencing problems with their children (or their parenting as many of the cases REALLY are) can go there and stay a few days and learn how to cope. They help with anything from sleeping disorders and the likes through to coping with full on disabilities. A lot of it is training the parents not to inadvertently encourage bad behaviors through their own actions. They do fantastic work and really help to keep families together when struggling with young children. I'm guessing there's something similar in most capital cities. My SIL used to work for Tweddle.

FWIW - it is the first result if you google "tweddle" - that will give more info on what they do.

Mel.. haha yep Jesse is the same.. once a tanty sets in its all jibberish whinge! But its amazing how one day they just wake up and can talk hey! I can have a full convo with Jesse sometimes.. so weird. But alot of his words only i would know what they mean iykwim. But yeh its great they are starting to talk and will be able to tell us what they want. Oh really. Im actually surprised at Keira's weight TBH. She hardly ever finished a 150ml bottle. Sometimes lucky if she has 100mls and she only has 5 a day. How much is M drinking? I guess she doesnt really need the extra.

Kel - Interesting about the P&T - we were looking at those originally but changed our mind and went with a pretty simple Maclaren. I always look at the kids in the bottom of the P&T and wonder how they feel about staring at their older sibling's backside! What is your new pram?
Mez - are you not wrapping Izzy anymore? I usually wrap beth and bounce her on the rocker with a dummy in her mouth if she'll take it instead of spitting it out. Music helps sometimes too. But she is a pretty good sleeper so I'm probably not much help.
Well, we have had a super busy weekend. Friday night was the big 60th birthday bash for the ILs. They had a great time. We took Beth all dressed in pink with little fairy wings which everyone thought was sooooo cute (took one cute pic which I'll post eventually). But it was at a lousy time for a 12 week old baby.... it started at 7pm and went on all night, and there was a live band, and lights and dozens of drunk people who all wanted to squeeze her cheeks and cuddle her. She hadn't had a proper nap in the afternoon so she was pretty much on the verge of a nervous breakdown the whole time. We didn't really let people cuddle her because she would have just screamed the house down. We left about 10.30. Yesterday we had the markets in the morning and in the afternoon we had a boat cruise around the harbour which the Bear organised with my (sort of) uncle. It was a great day and much better for Beth, she slept a lot because the rocking of the boat was very soothing. But she also got passed around and made googoo eyes at people. The Bear's sister is in town (both his siblings are in Australia for the 60th) and she is really :angry:ing me off. She is constantly trying to grab Beth and then immediately starts posing for photos with her. You can just see her thinking "I look so good with this baby". Her mother and husband are always on standby with the camera as soon as she picks Beth up. She has never taken any interest in us (the feeling is pretty mutual) but now she has tried to invite herself over for dinner next week. I don't really want her to come especially since I have guests 2 other nights this week, I think cooking for guests 3 times in one week is too much to ask, and since she is the least welcome I think we will tell her to organise a baby-friendly cafe. of course she is such a cheapskate she will just get her mother to cook so it will be dinner at the PILs. The photo thing really annoys me too, because no one takes photos of me with Beth. There are going to be more photos of SIL holding Beth with that ghoulish creepy smile than of me with her. The poor baby is going to grow up thinking I didn't love her :crying:
And my mum is back from Italy tomorrow so we will lose our second car and the one we were going to borrow next has fallen through.... so it's walkies for me again!

Thank you all for your advice I will have to go and buy a swing and see if that will help me. She is a fighter when I cuddle her to go to sleep, I have tried to just put her in her cot and settle her like that but it doesn't work it's as if she knows as soon as I recline her she goes crazy. I can see I have a little girl with a huge attitude already lol.

Tweddle is a place like SW said where you go for help. I will be using the Home visit option so that they can see what we do and what I'm doing right or wrong. I just hate when she screams before going to sleep I want her to be happy not unhappy.

Pixie - you SIL sounds horrible and fancy her taking all these photos with herself and not taking it with you holding your daughter. I must admit when Isabel came home my MIL did the same thing but I was holding Izzy and she only took a photo of her and cut me out of it. I thought it was rude and she still does it. :( Yay on your mum coming home from holiday I bet your looking forward to it.

Kel - when the formula is made up she has about 200ml to drink - but will only finish the bottle maybe twice a day? the rest of the time she leaves about 50/60ml so is only having about 140-150ml.. much less than her brother was!!!!!! But yeah she is still growing, so must be getting enough, I'm not concerned in the slightest..

LOL musta been hungry!!!!!! I thought she was going to be a shocker to settle too, so I just put her in her cot, gave her a couple of pats and went back to bed.. I heard her mutter to herself and then I woke up at 7am.. pmsl.. she must of gone back to sleep herself - what a treasure.. ;)

Ok both kids are awake now - gotta go be a mummy!!!

Mary- During the day time after Jonathan has his feed he would want to play but wouldn't last long for mor than half an hour & when he is tired during the day I put him in the bouncer & give him his dummy & rock him, but he would only have half an hour sleep. Then he would wake up play feed play again, so same routine. At night i wrap him up, give him his last bottle at 12am he will fall asleep as he is drinking & put him in his cot. He won't wake up till 7am. I'm just worried in summer now that I won't wrap him up, I'm worried how he would go without wrapping. That's wat i do with Jonathan, I'm sorry if i wasn't helpful, maybe try wat i do or wat the other girls have suggest sweety *HUGS*

Mel.. M sounds very much like Keira! lol i forgot to put the tv in! Even when im trying to feed her she's trying to turn her head to watch the telly!! And the attention when youre not giving any.. yep thats Keira too! How did she go last night? Keira has done that once or twice.. woken at 3am or 4am and only way we could settle was to feed her.. it worked though. Shes back to sleeping through. Mustve been just hungry that night.

Mez.. ive found Keira hates to be cuddled to sleep now too. Even last night she was wide away and trying to get to sleep.. when i held her she just squirmed and got frustraited.. DH said just go put her in bed and put her music on.. which i did. Heard her about 20 minutes later talking away to herself then started to get frustraited so went in, put the music back on and dummy in and didnt hear from her again. Jesse i use to have to rock to sleep every night. She just doesnt like it.. so maybe Izzy doesnt either? Do you have any music in her room? Ive found thats worked for both Jesse and Keira. We just use her Fisher Price Aquarium.

Made DH drop Miss M off at daycare this morning - I just couldn't do it, spent all last night crying, and cried on the way to drop DS off at his - and then he cried when I left him so that made me cry more :rolleyes:

DH has called and she is being a model child (as if she wouldn't!!!) and hasn't even cried at all today... and they LOVE the cloth nappies.. lol... (yes that was my attempt at silver lining)

Zee - Yeah, we bought a house a few months ago. We're only just moving fully in this weekend. We got it repainted and fixed the kitchen up since it was old, then after that was all done we had heaps of other ***** going on so we couldn't move in. So fingers crossed this weekend goes ahead. Lol. OMG! I couldn't begin to imagine the mess you'd have to clean with that colour carpets and a little kid. OMG!

Well, not much happening around here. My mother never turned up so :dunno: My stepmother bought me one of those bath seats for Beth which is great - now it's not such a struggle to hold her and wash her. Weighed her today but now I can't find a tape measure so when I find one I'll update her stats. Been feeling a bit flat the last couple of days. Got a Melbourne Cup lunch with my MG girls tomorrow so looking forward to that. Might BBL but in the meantime have a great evening all!

Tasia the bath seat was great! Definitely get one, it makes the bath a whole lot easier!

what sort of bath seat do u have?? a lie down one or the round type that they sit up in as we loooking at getting 1 as currently 1 of us is in bath with him.

Thanks Tasia, and Pix. My day did get better. I do feel better for getting it all out and letting DP know exactly how I feel, instead of dropping hints here and there and hoping he catches on. Haha.This arvo I listened to my ipod while I mowed the lawn. It gave my fatarse a workout cause there's alot to do and kinda uphillish. LOL I can't believe I enjoyed the mowing. :rofl:

How Often: Every 3 to 4 hours.
How Much: 180ml - 200ml / 5 bottles a day.
Other Medication: None.
Day Sleeps: Little cat naps 15mins to an hour, sometimes maybe 2.
Night Sleep: Sleeps through, 8:30pm/9pm till 7:30am/8am.
Settles: Self settles with or without a dummy. Sometimes in our arms, but mostly in rocker, swing, bed, or playgym.
Awake Periods: Generally awake 1 - 2hrs between feeds during the middle of the day. In the morning it's less and the afternoons it's less too.
Size Clothes: Size 000 and 00
Size Nappies: Infant and crawler. We have half a bag of infant left so we use those in the daytime, and the crawler ones at nighttime cause it's a longer period and less likely to overflow with the bigger ones.
Favourite Toy: This playgro dog thing that pulls apart and vibrates as it goes back together, like an accordian(sp?). He loves the suck/chew on the ears.
Milestones: Still halfway to 3/4 the way over with the rolling, then kicks himself back onto his back. I think it's cause he hates being on his tummy.
Other stuff: Starting to cry when other people hold him too long and realises he wants Mummy back. Likes to stand up when you hold him. He gets so excited and sort of kicks up off your legs while he giggles. He's got a gentle personality but loves to be held and really close to people (mostly Mummy :D)

Tenny.. oh Hayden sounds like Jesse at that age with the mummy clinginess! I remember at Christmas the year he was born he had a fit if anyone even looked at him other than me or grahame! Its funny how they can be so attached so young hey. But Jesse's fine now.. and never went through that clinginess/seperation anxiety when older.. mustve got it out of his system then!

Was able to get video of Keira rolling over last night. If i can find my cables ill try and upload it to youtube to show you all later on.

Mel.. awww.. im gonna be the same mess when i drop Jess off for his first day.

Tenny - try getting DP to give Hayden a bath - and tell him to make sure he cleans under his chin and behind his ears.... That might convince him, it's really difficult to give them a proper wash when you have to hold them too.

Thanks Anastasia - its not me being brave - I have to go back to work. Don't work today though so have a few days with my kids before I go and be "Mel" again instead of being "mum"...lol

Tenny - it sucks when you have those really down days.. sometimes a good cry is all you need. I think we should come and visit you ;) Where are you again? Sounds like you need a good Mellie bear hug!!!!

Well yesterday wasn't too terrible - she had a great day at care - but I was so happy to see her when DH got home from picking her up!!!!! She was in a great mood, asleep!!! LOL She even went to sleep later on (8pm) without any screaming, which was good!!!!

I *think* both kids slept through last night - not too sure. DH left early today because of a deadline but he is coming home early this arvo - woot!! Think he is going to mow the lawn.

Got another chiro appointment today - I think I'll put Miss M in the bubba moe and DS in the stroller - or I could put him in the bubba moe and her in the pram.. undecided which one will be more difficult .. lol.. I hate places that have parking at least 5 minutes walk away from the actual place.. grrr.. stupid Caloundra...

Anyhoo, better go I guess... Miss M is about to fall asleep in her swing.. and DS is so close to the tv that he's basically kissing it.. he loves Dora that much.. lol

I cried my eyes out when DS1 started preschool this year, and I'm going to be most likely doing the same when he starts big school next year. Lol. Ahh the joys for motherhood. It's full of tears.

Kell - Have fun with Kristy and the boys. It's funny how they're so clingy. DS1 wasn't really clingy like this, so it's all new for me (and I secretly like it, but :shhh:)

Pixie - I should make DP do the bathing all by himself without my help and see how he likes it. He doesn't mind showering DS1 cause he's easyyy since he's older and can do most things himself.

Yesterday I was eating an apple and thought I'd let Bubbablue has a taste. Lol.
He was full on sucking this chunk of apple I held to his mouth. He loved it and couldn't get enough of it!
