Mel - Oh that's not a problem sweet... Hey what's still coming?? You have me curious now!!
Sweetpea - Oh I hope your little one gets better soon sweet and that you get some sleep tonight in your household. That is so cool that Reaghan is doing so well with her sitting.
Izzy is on the move she is getting into everything, I think I'm going to have to start baby proofing my house
Thanks Mez.. you'll find out soon enough.. bout two weeks I'm hoping.
Re: child proofing.. ya know, we never really did that? We put little band things on the bathroom cupboard which has the medicine and the laundry cupboard with the chemicals - but it doesn't stop him getting into them, just slows him down so I can stop him. We never got into the full child proofing bit, cos I saw my nephew trying to get into the drawer at my sister's place, and the only reason he didn't get into the knives was because of the lock. And my sister didn't tell him off because she knew he couldnt' get into it. And so we were thinking.. wellll.. what happens when you go to other people's places? Kids are just going to try to get into the stuff because they haven't been taught that they aren't allowed to, they just physically can't get into the one at home.
We just taught DS from an early age that he can't get into that stuff - so when we go to other people's houses, he doesn't try cos he knows its wrong.. ya know? I'm not saying that our way was better - it just made more sense to us.
Hmm.. was that a bit too soap boxy.... ? sorry
Oh cool well I look forward to hearing your news :)
I totally agree with you on the baby proofing. I pretty much don't want to put things away as I want her to learn not to touch just going to do like you said the cupboard in the laundry and under our kitchen sink. Everything else she will just have to learn not to touch so that when we go visiting ppl don't have to put their things away.
I have a friend who has 3 kids and every time they come over I have to put things out of their reach cause they just touch everything. They even go in my cupboard which is really annoying especially the one with all our dvd's.
Anyway enough of me B!@#ching
Hi girls
Sorry ive been away so long, my mum has been in hospital. Ive been looking after her every day there and Jeffreys been looking after the kids, she picked up Julia on Tues arvo to look after her and on the way home was dizzy, shakes, short of breath, her GP told her to go to the emergency at Mona Vale Hospital. We have never been so scared, they thankfully ruled out stroke and heart attack but she has a murmur in her heart but they say now its ok, her thyroid was overactive and her BP very high, she was in hospital 5 nights and ive never been so scared. She had CT scan as they thought there was a clot on her lung. they did ECG's every 12 hours. Turns out it is thought the medicine she was taking for her bronchitis with her BP medicine caused her to have this reaction and also asthma. So they have changed her meds and she was monitored for 2 days after it changed and then finally allowed home. There was NO aircon at the hospital at all it was so bad.... Im so knackered now, im at mums looking after her until she feels better, so we are all here with her.
Just wanted to let you know im here, but will not be able to catchup and post personals until mum is better, but I am thinking of you all and love reading how you all are.

Hi Everyone
I'm hoping to (re)join this group if I may! I was originally in the Due Date Buddies for July 15 - 31 2008 and dropped out after moving house. In the lead up to having bubs I was unpacking the house, studying and working full time and just ran out of steam to contribute to the forum.
I had our baby girl on 13 July exactly one week earlier than her due date. I know that there should be a forum group for babies born July 1 - 16, but it doesn't look as though it is really active - the last post is from early January and it is someone saying they are leaving Belly Belly. Not a good sign! So I hope you don't mind if I crash this group again. It is good to see some familiar names here, Kellxx, Mel and a few others. Hi girls! It's great to be able to talk about poo and mashy food without worrying about boring people!
Bubs is getting used to solids - I'm giving her a couple of cubes of vegetables for breakky and dinner, but it doesn't seem to be reducing her formula needs. She's drinking between 4 and 5 bottles a day.
Anyway, it is great to be back.
xxM
Hi Majella - welcome back - I did wonder where you had gone to!! Where did you end up moving to? Great to hear that she is doing well!!! No solids here yet - Miss M didnt' end up coming till the 2nd August - exactly 2 weeks over - so I'm not really supposed to be in here either.
Belle - I hope your mum recovers quickly!!! You poor thing, I don't know what I would do if my mum was in hospital, be a complete wreck I reckon!! If you need to chat - you have my numbers.
Lurking? - 3 out of last 7 posts? :D
Hope you are all having a good long weekend...
Beth's poo drought was officially broken this afternoon, and it was not a pretty thing - I spent the morning disembowelling a piglet for tomorrow's BBQ and quite frankly it was a less unpleasant experience than dealing with that particular nappy!
Baby-proofing is on my mind at the moment too, I'm tending towards Mel's approach - but I think I'm going to deal with a few of the higher risk areas. I think we're going to secure the undersink cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom, move the hifi and computer electronics and associated wiring up out of reach, add doors to the lower level of some of the bookshelves in order to make them harder to climb and leave it at that.
Mez.. oh i know.. totally needs to grow up. Aww brave little Izzy.. i have to organise Keira's. Least theres no more for another 6 months after these ones.
Pixie.. oh good to hear shes pooped! If youre ever worried you can give her a little brown sugar and water (1/2 teaspoon to 50mls). Ive found that always does the trick. Awww hun youre not a bad mummy. How are you to know she wouldnt have been upset like that if you were at home. Who knows she may have had an upset tummy and it might not have had anything to do with being in the creche. Hopfully next time shes fine. Oh i am hating this heat with a passion! Where is my winter!
Tenny.. Oh Keira's poos are like that. Solid and then not then solid then not. Actually since ive been giving her some apples shes seems to be a bit better. Maybe her foods are too high in iron and she needs a little more fibre?
Mel.. Ive been the same with posting. With this heat i just dont have the energy.
Re child proofing.. i think every child is different tbh. Some are content with what toys you may supply them to keep them entertained, others like to explore. We tried the dont touch approach with Jesse.. just did not work. He was the type that if there was something that wasnt child proof, he would find it. He has always had a very inquizitive nature and likes to see how things work. And him being like that doesnt make me a bad parent because i have to baby proof.. id like to think it means i have a smart child who wants to discover things for himself. You could tell him no or dont touch until you were black and blue in the face, but until he was about 2, he just would not listen. We decided that for his own safety we needed to baby proof. It only takes you to answer the front door or phone for them to bite a cord or pull something down on top of themselves, or reach for something that is dangerous to them. Even though you have taught them no, that temptation is jeopodising their safety too much for me. We had some tall book shelves in our lounge room and i got rid of them for his safety.. everything we didnt want broken was out of reach, that way if anything did get broken, i wasnt going mad at him for something i could have prevented. So yeh, if you have a child that doesnt get into things and you dont need to baby proof as much, great stuff and lucky you! .. but if you do end up having one like mine, lol tbh its better to be safe than sorry. Every child is different.
Mel.. dont think you were soap boxie at all, you were just telling how things are with A. I guess when you are at people's places that arent baby proofed, in my instance, you just watch your kids.. i guess really as you would anyways.
Belle.. sorry to hear about your mum. I hope you can get some time to rest and she starts to pick up soon
WB Majella!!! Congratulations on little Lulu! You are more than welcome to join us. We've all stuck together no matter when anyone had their bubs as we just really liked out BB group. Look forward to hearing more about you and your little miss!
Not much new to tell here. Keiras decided to go back and not sit or crawl no more lol. Weird woman. She is rolling around the room like a steam roller. Must be easier to roll than crawl, lazy bugger.
Hey everyone. I thought I was alone in here this morning. :crying:
Majella - Welcome back!!! We're still on 4 or 5 bottles a day still. With one meal, dinner and some fruit at lunch sometimes. and Happy 6months to your DD for back on the 13th. My DS2 was born a week early too, on the 19th.
Pix & Bear - Great to see you again, Bear. I'm glad Beth's poo drought came to an end. The waiting and wondering must have been a killer. We just go with the flow with the day naps.. although he still hates them and I have to eventually rock him to sleep cause of him fighting them but we get there in the end. Haydie doesn't go to bed until like 8:30 - 9pm most nights. When we eat dinner, Haydie sits up at the table in his highchair eating his too. (I even put a placemat for him now cause I'm a freak and he's just like us sitting up at the table.)
Mez - Sounds like you had a great time at the meetup. Good luck with the babyproofing. Just when you think you've got everything, they usually find something else, well that was what happened in our house. Yeah, DS1 does start school this week, he's actually going like 9 till 1:30pm on thursday, so it's not a full day first off cause of the strike that's on. The teacher wanted to still get them started, I think. I'm not sure if he's excited or not. He doesn't say much about it which is funny since he never shuts up talking about everything else. He hardly talked about Preschool either. It's funny.
Sweetpea - GO DD! We're just starting to get the sitting a bit more stable here, and the rolling is constant (and sometimes annoying) not that close to crawling. YAY with the teeth. They'll be popping through soon. I think Haydie has a heap of teeth all pushing through at once. I know I can see one almost cutting. MY DS1 starts big school this week too. We got the last few things today that he needs. I'm not really sure how I feel about it yet. Lol.
Mel - I'm dying to know what's going to be revealed too. I'm a nosey rosey.
Belle - I'm sorry to hear your mum has been in hospital. I'm glad it wasn't a stroke or heart attack or anything like that.  I hope she's recovering quickly.. and what the.. No air con in the hospital??
As for us;
Last night we went back to having a full night sleep without Haydie waking every time he rolled over or whatev.. so trust me to have a bad night sleep and not manage to sleep well when I can, so maybe tonight, hopefully tonight.
His rash is almost gone. He's still got really dry skin though, but that's getting better quite fast too. YAY!
I'm going go for one last attempt at giving him farex. LOL. I know it's very high hopes but I don't know what else to give him for brekky and I want to start brekky again.. I'd like to give yogurt but I'm not sure if that was causing the rash.
Not much else going on. Boring, boring, boring.
ETA:
Kell - We must have been posting at the same time. Hiiiii. DS1 was really into things aswell. If there was something he knew he wasn't allowed, he'd be into it. I didn't really know much about baby proofing so we just did the put things up higher, and we put a latch on a sliding door so he couldn't get into the laundry and those places. Then the laundry was used to keep most things. It'll be different this time around though, new house and all. I hope we don't have to start proofin' the place yet. I don't want him moving too soon.
Tenny.. ive just started giving Keira Bellamey's Apple and Cinnimon Breakfast. Its like a cereal. You can also get a Multigrain Cereal in the Bellameys too. Both are 6 months+. Or you could always mix a little pear or apple into the farex. Just 1 at a time incase he gets the rash back poor pet. Or theres always custard. You could try the egg custard. I was told with Jesse that custard is actually pretty good for them, alot better than those fruit gels. But i think, a way you can test certain foods, like if they have a real bad tolerance to them is to rub a little on their skin.
For the rash dealio if it was food, we're leaving towards the custard. He'd already gotten the start of the rash when we gave him yogurt so I'm not sure if it did make it worse or not. It's so hard to tell cause we gave him custard on the sun, mon, tues and I'm not sure about wed. It was so so hot that week it just looked like the heat rash he usually gets, also a little bit of ezcema was there too. We just thought it was the heat so we just kept giving him that little bit of custard after his vegies at dinnertime. Little did we know it would turn out like this.. He wasn't really himself either, not like throwing up but just off, so it could have been a virus too, as the doctor said.
It's frustrating to not know the extact cause.
Thanks for that about the ceral stuff. I'm going to try mashed banana in the farex tomorrow. Maybe he'll like it. idk.
Thanks Kellx, Tennykins & Mel!
I am the only person in my social circle who has a baby and was just starting to feel so isolated. Its so good to see everyone else is having the same food, poo, sleep issues that we are. I'm so glad I've come back to BB!
Tenny Happy 6 months to your DS as well. I'm pleased there's another early bub in here!
Mel - I'm so envious - I couldn't keep a secret for that long if I tried. And I'm dying to know what it is.... Yes, I still peek at my Christmas presents under the tree and search the house upside down for birthday presents. And I'm so happy you had a girl! When I was last on BB your ultrsound could have gone either way and you weren't sure you wanted to know. We moved to the South Brisbane/West End area. It's such a small flat and is only really a temporary thing until we can afford something bigger, but is great for pram walks and coffee and pretty close to the Southbank Parklands which is fab most days but will be a nightmare tomorrow with the Aussie day fireworks.
Kellx Love the photo in your signature. What beautiful smiles your little angels have!
Happy 'Straya day everyone!
Hey everyone!
Welcome back Majella, I was wondering where you got to as well! Congrats of the early (and long!) birth of Lulu!
Hope everyone is going good, just popped in to say I have uploaded more pics on FB....including when Mel and the family came to visit (finally!), Oh and I made another cake this morning for Australia Day....its a bit dodgy but I'm proud of it....pic is on FB aswell.
Morning folks... just a quickie cause I have to go to the gym....
Belle - so sorry to hear your mum has been sick, you're so good to look after her. Hope she feels better soon.
Majella welcome! I'm another one who was overdue my baby was born on 9th August! Do you have a Mum's group? My mum's group is awesome, your local Child Health Centre should be able to hook you up with one. It's really worthwhile and gets you out and about with other people with babies the same age. Anyway good to have you on board!
Mez - I think I'm just being too picky about the naps  she sleeps through the night and is not too hard to settle if you get her at the right moment so I should just be happy with her!
Tenny that's cool about Haydie sitting at the table when you have dinner!
Kel lucky it's a bit cooler today. Kiera's probably just working up to something.... She'll probably walk up behind you and tap you on the shoulder one day!
As for the babyproofing thing I think it's pretty much a case of what you're comfortable with and what works for your baby. We have these really high bookshelves and I have nightmares about her pulling them over on herself.... and not exactly sure how babyproofing is going to work here
Beth's big thing at the moment is she wants us to hold her hands while she walks around.... so she seems to have given up on crawling for the moment
:hello: to Mel and any other lurkers!
ETA Tan I LOVE the photos you put on FB ..... your kids are so gorgeous... and great shots of Mel and her kids too!
Hi everyone
Tan - great shots of the kids - not sooooo much the one of me.. or DH's gut.. pmsl.. ;)
Majella - we should catch up one day, we go to Brissie semi-regularly... plus I'm only working one day a week now - so will probably go stir-crazy with DS at home with me all the time if I don't get out!! Let me know if you want to catch up for a play date!!!
Umm yeah thats it. Huge hello to Pixie chick AND the Bear... ;)
*mwah* to all..
Morning all,
Happy Australia Day!
Majella - Welcome Back, Congrats on your baby girl Lulu. I'm sure you'll enjoy being back in this group we are a great bunch of mummy's & Daddy.
Tannis - Oh I love your pic on FB. Your Aus Day cake is great too well done! Have a good time today.
Belle - I hope your mum gets better soon sweet, we are thinking of you
Tenny - Woohoo on Haydie sleeping through the night for you sweet. Pity you couldn't relax maybe tonight.
Pixie - Hope you had a great workout! Have a great time today at your Aus Day outing. I too would be doing something about the bookshelves as I would be freaking if something did happen it only takes a few seconds for them to do it.
Izzy decided that she wanted to wake every couple of hours last night which was a little hard. I'm looking forward to my hubby coming home today it's been a little hard especially at night without the extra help. About baby safe homes well today my little one decided to go for some vases that I have displayed on my floor (yep she pushed them over) luckily they didn't break hence me now putting them out of her reach.
she is now sleeping so I might go and have a shower and get started for the day. A BIG :hello: to kell, Mel, SW,Feeb, Tasia, Bear,Sweetpea and anyone else I may have forgotten.
