Well we are back from our wonderful holiday in Fiji. I had a good recovery from my operation and travelled well the day after. Thank you all for your best wishes it really does mean a whole lot to me. I've been very emotional the last couple of weeks but feeling positive about everything.
Happy 9/10 months to all the buba's I have missed.
SW - the cake looks wonderful good on you, very impressive for your first attempt.
A BIG :hello: to everyone :)
Happy 9 months Beth.
Hope you all had a wonderful Mothers day. xxxx

Tenny.. hows Hayden. Wonder if it was just a teething poo?
Feeb.. how are you.. um.. i have a theme and cake kinda planned.. thats about it. Was looking at invited tonight. Its hard when you have an extended family and friends hey, not wanting to disappoint someone.
Missy.. thanks hun. Youll have to come over some time. Callum will love it.. as will Jesse to have Callum to play with.
Belle.. youre welcome to come over too hun!!
Has anyone heard from Lindsay? Ive seen her a little bit on facebook. Hope shes doing ok.
SW.. well done on your cake job! It looks like a bought one! Cant wait to see the 1st birthday one.
Big hello to Tan, Majella and Kristy.. and anyone else ive missed. Just noticed the time woooppseee.. have to go up to my parents tomorrow but will be back in the arvo.
Hope everyone is well.
xx
Thanks!! Means a LOT coming from you - your cakes are amazing (and the inspiration behind giving it a go myself!) =)))
Alyssa is still sick here, and teething... You can *just* see one of them about to come from the top (and we get a good view because she wakes up screaming in the night with her mouth wide open and her head right back ;) Last week we had 5 nights of projectile vomit and high temps and a few days of the runs on the tail end of that, and then she was all better in time for the weekend. Yesterday she woke with a 39.8 fever and projectile vomiting again =( Poor little munchkin. Seems a lot better today, although still pretty flat. Hopefully will be better again tomorrow, and back to her normal self before I can type supercalifragilisticexpialidotious. OK - that didn't work, but you get the drift ;)
I've noticed that a couple of peeps are working on birthday invites already. Is anyone interested in doing an invite swap just to check out what other people are doing? I love looking at these types of things =)
I've got what I think will be the final version of Alyssa's done (just waiting on venue confirmation). I've actually created a series of 8 invites - same background but with different photos - and we're planning on printing them all and sending random ones to our invitees. It is based on the thankyou cards that I made up and sent out after her birth. Figured I might as well keep a theme going.
Hope everyone is either well or recovering from the various complaints (teething, illness, etc). Waves to all
Oh hun for a first attempt, you have done so well. Its very hard to do the open fondant cakes so you should be proud. Bet you DH loved it. Its fun to do hey!
Hope Alyssa is feeling better soon.. oh i hate that horrible gastro to tears. Poor mite. Have you been giving her any gastrolite?
Sounds like a good idea to do the invite swap. Once we're all done. Ive just got ideas atm.. will attempt it more next week once DH goes back to work (hes had 2 weeks off).
Keira's 2nd bottom tooth it through and you can see and feel the edge of one of her top teeth. Not much else new here.. am over this flu thing. Think we're onto the 4th week of it in our house. Everyone got better bar me. Ive had about everything now.. started with my throat then my nose now im coughing and have endless coughing fits, especially when trying to fall asleep at night. Darn weather.
xx
:hello: all
still battling the flu and sleepless nights here... feeling like a bit of a zombie! praying that its nearly over, we're on week 3 here, and that's not counting flu we had when we were in New Zealand. I finally got around to posting our NZ photos on FB if anyone is interested they are here and here. Mez's photos from Fiji were great... looks like they had a good time.
Not much else to report here..... impressed that you girls have started planning for 1st birthdays.... I have thought about it but haven't actually started planning yet... I think I'm still in denial... it's going too quickly!
Anyhoo off to bed so night all :hello:
Okies... heres a link to our invites minus location and contact details. There's also the thankyou card that I made up.
There are four images of invites there. Each has two invites on it, and the plan is to get them printed as photos, cut them in half and then paste them or pin them onto some nice, coloured card.
If anyone wants a hand to do something similar (different design, obviously), I'm happy to help out with the graphics stuff (it's so fun!)
Hi all
Well have a sick little boy here. Callum has croup again. Have had to give him steroids last night to open up his throat. The night before was a night mare. From 12am up most of the morning. then I had to go to my course. Im doing a nail course and loving it.
Im coming to Melb in Nov around the 28th but wont have the kids. I still would love to meet you melb ladies and your babies...I will have to let you know where im staying and we can meet for maybe fri for lunch.
Yep kell for sure. Are you living far from the other place.
Liam has two teeth on the bottom and just got his first one up the top the other day

Oh and Happy 10 months to my Liam.
Didnt evern notice till I saw my ticker...lol
Hah!! Proof that men are the weaker sex! Well, it's in the newspaper so it must be true, right? ;)
Hello lovely mummy's,
SW - I really like your invites for Alyssa's 1st birthday :)
Missy - Yay you're coming to Melbourne. Williamstown isn't that far for us girls we've all meet up there before so it will be great to catch up with you in November. Seems so far away but I know that it will be here before we know it.
:bluecheer: HAPPY 10 MONTHS LIAM :bluecheer:
A BIG :hello: to everyone else.
Missy Williamstown is 5 mins down the road from me!!!!
Lots of nice places to do lunch there!!!!!!!!!!! How exciting!!
We are ok now, DH had cold about 10 days agoa and Jacob got runny nose then i got sore throat aches and pain head ache from help and Jacob got croup, some Rapipred fixed him so he is now on the mend.
Ayapi Hi hun hope you are well. Love your fiji pics!!
SW invites look great!
Pixie hope you are fully better soon! Your pics look like you had a blast!!
Hello to everyone else
Heya ladies,
Ok just finished Keira's birthday invite: Keira's 1st Birthday Invite
Im doing a unicorn theme for her. Ive actually gone nuts over unicorns and my little ponies lately lol.
Feeb.. glad to see youre all on the mend now.
HAPPY 10 MONTHS LIAM!!
Missy.. aww poor Callum. Hope he gets better soon poor thing. Im living kinda half way between where i was before and Kristy's house (in Glossodia). Will have to organise something when Callum is all better.
SW.. oh i love those photos of Alissa. The invites look great!! Will you print them on like panoramic paper? That would look great.
Pixie.. oh hun i so know how you feel. We're on about week 4 here too. Im so over coughing. Kids are fine atm but im up most night with coughing fits. Hope you all mend soon. Will go check out your pics now!
:bluecheer: :birthday2: HAPPY 10 MONTHS LIAM!!! :bluecheer: :birthday2:
I am loving all the birthday invites!!! Sooo gorgeous, and Tan Jayden's one was really cool too! Wow you guys might actually inspire me to put one together for Beth's birthday yet! I want to put together a photo book for her first birthday too does anyone have any recommendations for the best website etc for photobooks?
Mez great to hear you had a nice relaxing holiday babe
Feeb/ Kel and all the other sick people  hope we're all on the mend now, I am finally feeling a bit better today BUT!
SW - sadly there is an affliction more devastating than man-flu.... Bear-flu! o well at least he understands now why I've been feeling so awful for the last few weeks.
We are going to check out a Montessori preschool/ school for Beth tomorrow morning so that should be interesting.
Hope everyone is having a lovely evening and a good week! :hello: to all
Pixie.. go to big w photos online. They do so many different things inc photo books/calendars etc. You do it all online and then submit it and you can either get it sent out to you or to your closest big w. They have lots of options for designs too.. not to mension are a great price. I had my calendars done at christmas through there and theyre awesome. Good luck tomorrow.
Kellxx - will print them as they are - two to a 8*10. Then cut them in half so that they will be like panoramic prints. Cheaper that way ;) There are 4 different prints on that website that I posted - same invites but with different images. The top photos are all recent ones, and the bottom pics are spanning from birth to a few weeks back.
Pix - have to agree with Kellxx re. Big W - they're photo products are pretty awesome. They have a special now on photobooks I think - 29.95 or thereabouts? They look amazing. Thinking of getting that done too =) You should DEFINITELY put an invite together for Beth - I'm having great fun looking at what other people are doing (therefore, for my entertainment, get to work!! ;)
Thx all on comments on the invites and cake. They really are a lot of fun to put together. Seriously, if anyone wants some help on putting together invites of their own (even if that help is just support for using Gimp (the graphics app that I use instead of photoshop)), I'd be happy to assist.
Happy 10 months Liam
Invites look great guys.
Not doing one here - not giving our kids parties until they can say "hey ma, can I have a party and invite x and x" - then they get a party.
Until then - nope.
But we always do things a little differently in this house than what everyone else does.
We not doing a party either, we will just do a family get together with cake and thats it. Even my older ones decide what they want. my eldest who just turned 9 went and watched stomp instead of a party, took one friend and last year was high school musical on ice. My nearly 6 yr old want a party though.
On the rest of the front, even though I was not goin back to work I was there today as the person in the position I was job sharing with before mat leave resigned with no notice and left the with not knowing what is going on.....on the up side bub is coming with me and it is casual at this point in time.
Different is good!
The only reason that we are doing a party is because of her Chinese heritage. For them, it is very important to have a party to celebrate the first month - historically if your baby survived the first month it was well worth celebrating. So that is a tradition that goes back centuries, apparently. Since we were living in Canberra at the time, we couldn't hold the traditional chinese party, so we said we'd do it for her 1st year instead.
DHs grandmother is SO excited... She's planning on cooking up a storm of all sorts of traditional chinese fare that is usually served at the one month party for luck and prosperity and the likes. Really looking forward to it - just not to my baby being a year old!!
Ayapi - you asked in FB about what graphics app I was using instead of photoshop, and I sent you the link for the mac instructions for Gimp. You could also look at inkscape. It's another free graphics app, and also is available for OS X (or windows, or (of course) linux). I used inkscape to create the border for the pictures on my invites, and did the rest within Gimp. Together, they make a very powerful set of tools. I used them all the time in my work. In case the mods remove the link here (which they shouldn't - it's not advertising a saleable product or assisting anyone making money - everything about inkscape is completely free and open source), you can google inkscape, should be the first result link, then go to the downloads page.
Totally understandable Mel.:
Not doing one here - not giving our kids parties until they can say "hey ma, can I have a party and invite x and x" - then they get a party.
We will probably have a small party for family and some friends... but it's more for me and the Bear than DD!! Basically to celebrate that we all survived her first year and what an awesome little girl she is! And I think my stepmum and sister will never forgive me if we don't!
HI all.
Missy- What is croup? i have heard of it but never seen it. I hope Callum mends quickly poor little mate. we haven't seen you in ages almost time for a play date i think. I still haven't seen the Twilight movie, did it go to cinima? I dont know anything about movies or music these days i think i'm getting old.
SW- Love the cake and you have done a great job on the party invites aswell, i love party planning and all those creative things too.
Pixie- i hope you guys get better soon, i really geel for you we have been battling the flu for almost a month now. i'm so sick of being sick.Ialso recomend big W online for photo stuff. i got my calendar from them as well as some photo mugs for mum and MIL for mothers day. they look great.
Bell- how are the girls after having the pox?
mez- i ment to ask how did was the flight over to Fiji. im too scared to take the boys on a plain i just imagine them screaming the whole way, lol. glad you are feeling better too, a perfect way to recover both phisically and mentally. xoxo
i have missed heaps but do hope everyone is great.
as for us:
- Well its been a month of sickness here! and caleb and i got it the worst, we are still a bit chesty and keep coughing but getting better.
- We will be having a party for the twins birthday, i LOVE birthday parties i love to cook for them and plan them. for me its our once a year day where our family and friends gather together to celebrate who you are and how much your loved. i have had a party every year since i was born sometimes its just very small with just 3-4 people but we still celebrate it as a party. I'm trying to keep the twins party smallish which is hard with my family but I'm only inviting those who i see on a regular basis. I'll put the invite on FB when i finish. we will put the marquee up out the back and have lots of fresh yummy food, i won't worry about games tho till they are older.
Our theme is sesame street because they like to watch it and its also fun to do things in a sesame street theme. oh im excited thinking about it. i don't ever expect people to buy gifts tho, i just love to get together.
- Mothersday was good unfortunatly sebi had a bad night and screamed from about 1am till 4am so i told DH not to worry with breakfast the boys were just too tired and grumpy from lack of sleep. but it ended up a great day, it rained so we took our picnic to mums house and relaxed all day.
- Our holiday in hervey bay is all booked and organised and mum is going to look after the boys so i'm glad to be getting some quality time with DH.
- as for the twins they are now on 100% family meals no mash at all. its heaps easier too.
- they are sleeping well (most of the time) Sebi has a tantrum every night before bed but i have decided he wont win and now i'm just letting him scream it out and eventually he falls asleep, thankfully caleb can sleep thru anything and all noise. but once asleep they are out till about 7-7.30am.
- I have started to give them a little cows milk, they still have their formula and water but sometimes they refuse the formula but will have the cows milk in a sippi cup, the plan is by the time they turn one we will get rid of all formula.
- I'm kinda boring not much happening here, better work out whats for dinner, I'm thinking a butter chicken with rice and steemed veg, lol the twins and Isaac LOVE a good indian curry.
Keep well gotta run, I'll try to pop in a little more regular.
Just wanted to say a quick
Happy 10months Liam!! (sorry it's a bit late)
I will catch up on personals and what everyone has been doing another time, aswell as share what's been going on with us. Haydie is sooooo clingy with me it's not funny. SP isn't helping or even trying to help lately either. Grrrrrr.
Big hugs to you all.
:grouphug:
I snuck a quick peek at the invites and they're looking FABULOUS.
Morning!
Kristy.. mmmmm butter chicken. How was it? I want some more of that butter chicken we got up at windsor. We'll have to go up there this week.. i wanna get my jacket out too. Got dockets for Donut King! BTW.. your boys are just WAY too talented ;)
Thats fair enough those who dont do parties. Im like Kristy and just love making it a special day where family and friends celebrate who my kids are. Also a great excuse for a little get together with people we dont get to see often enough. Plus being we have a much better house and yard now, the kids will have a ball. I love decorating and making their cakes! :)
SW.. yep good idea. Yeh i saw all of them. I like the first 2 top pics.
Pixie.. howd you go at the school? How you feeling now?
Im still battling this cough. Driving me nuts.
Im taking Jesse out for a special mummy and Jesse day today. DH is at work and MIL is coming to mind Keira. Just going to treat him to a donut and smoothie and a ride at the shops and then we're gonna go shopping for big boy undies! Will see what other special things i can do for him today too. I love doing these little days with him. Keira has me to herself on Thursdays while Jess is at preschool so its nice to give him some one on one time too.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
xx
I've just been given a very strong reminder of why I stopped posting in these forums... As such, I'll be going quiet again ;)
If anyone wants me, I'll be on facebook or occassionally stalking arimeh and pix (and reading here in hopes of checking out other fancy invitations and things!!) =)))))
Ahhh I think I know what you are talking about SW.
I'll keep an eye out for a stalker - stalking me :o
SW - that's a bummer it was really nice having you back!
Kristy good to see you online, bummer about being sick! Sooo over it! Fortunately we seem to be getting over it here.
Mel - saw the big announcement this morning... how was the reaction?
Kel the school was actually great! We are going to enrol her in the baby program and see how we go from there.
sweetpea what a bummer about the work thing, although good that you can take Reaghan with you..... I have a problem with my work, supposed to be going back in six weeks and they aren't telling me anything... no idea if there is a job there to go back to or not!
Tenny bummer about DP not helping.... he might need a kick up the butt!
anyhoo, just having a quiet day here, the Bear let me have a sleep in with Beth this morning and then took her to the markets so we have had a really relaxing day. He gets extra points for it too cause he is still sick!
big :hello: to Missy, Belle, Tannis, feeb, Mez and everyone
bleah double post!
hi all,
I'm just sitting here with colour in my hair and watching meet the parents on TV and thought i would pop on.
SW- I'll put my party invite on FB in a day or so we are almost finished.
Pix- I'm told with Montessori school you either love it or hate it. we have looked into different schools too but unfort with our budget its public all the way 4 us. luckly hawkesbury schools are pritty good.
kell- didn't get the butter chick after all, the boys went belly up and we decided on a quick pree cooked spag bowl i had ready in the freezer.
going to the movies tomorrow 2 c angels and demons, hope its good.
xoxoxo
Morning!
Sw.. hmm did i miss something? anyways hope youre not hiding for too long ;)
Kristy.. have a nice night at the movies. Bummer we couldnt come but ah well next time.
Pixie.. oh good to hear you liked the school. Oh lucky you! Very nice of Bear.
Tenny.. hope youre doing ok and Hayden gets past this clinginess.
Well had a nice morning with Jesse yesterday. Trying to tackle this TT thing. Hes just so not interested. Though really im not too phased. But he loved picking out some undies and keeps telling me he will tell me when he needs to wee and poo but never does. Ahh i guess the day will come.
DH is at work today. Just did some washing.. think i can hear Keira stiring.
Morninggggg.
SW - It was great to see you posting here again. I love hearing about Alyssa and seeing the pictures. :( Your invites are greatttttttttttttttttt and I loved the thank you cards you made too.
Kell - I hope you're feeling better. Sounds like the special time you have with Jesse is fun and so precious. I bet he loves just having you to himself. I hope the big boy undies and TT. Elijah was a bit interested one day, then not so the next... then one day he just got it. It's so frustrating. Your invite is so pretty! Cute theme you've choosen too. I really can't wait to see the cake either. Hehe.
Kristy - How was the movie? I want to see thatttt. I just have to finish the book first. Haha. Trust me to leave reading the book to the last min. I hope you're all better, or getting better. Great to see you around again.
Pix - Those videos you've uploaded to FB are so adorable. I hope you're feeling better too. YAY for the sleep in. I'm a bit jealous.
Mel - How've you been? How're the kiddies & the bump?
:hello: and  Missy, Tan, Mez, Sweetpea, Feeb, Zee, Majella, and anyone else I may have missed.
As for us..
We're still got the clingy boy. Sometimes it's ok, and then other times it's annoying. I wish DP would try and distract him to help me out but he's just lazy (and getting worse, I think).
Haydie is all over the house, whether it's using is walker to get from A to B or crawling, he's so fast at moving. Might get him weighed this week to see how much of a porker he really is. Yesterday he burnt his fingers. :( I'll try and get a photo of it and put on FB when I upload a heap soon. We were at my nan's place and she dropped one of those metal covers that you sit over the elements on a stove top.. he was so fast over there but only just touched it, thank god. He was 4 white blisters. They seem to be not hurting today, well he's not crying or anything when he goes to use that hand so I guess it's a good sign.
Re: Birthday parties. I just enjoy making a cake for their birthdays, so we just have it with family. I don't even making invites or anything like that.
I'm going to try and get some new photos up on FB soon and catch up on everyone elses too.
Have a great day. Sorry I rambled a heap.
xox
Oops double post.
Happy 10 months to my precious Haydiepie!
I just finished putting new pictures on FB of us and the things I've been making. I just closed the page so sorry I can't link you to them.
Haydie has started standing up by himself in the middle of the room without holding onto anything. Elijah didn't do this kinda thing until he was like 1.
Anyways, gotta run and get ready to walk over to have lunch with my mum and sister.
:grouphug:
xox
:bluecheer: HAPPY 10 MONTHS HAYDIE!! :bluecheer:
Hope I haven't missed anyone else!
Tenny I love your photos - wow I am so hopeless I have been meaning to do something crafty for ages and I just can't seem to get around to it... don't know how you do it with 2
Kel good luck with the TT... hope it goes well!
Kristy how was the movie?
We are having nightmares with sleeping at the moment which is annoying since we are now over the teething and the cold (mostly) we seem to have a whole new problem.... needless to say the coffee machine has been a godsend!
Trying to get a few things done that I have been putting off this week... going ok so far.
Hope everyone is having a good week :hello: to all!
Tenny.. how old was Elijah when he was fully TT? Yeh im having that same issue with Jesse. He knows what to do but just isnt interested in it. He will happily sit on a potty as soon as he gets in the shower and do a wee. Any other time during the day hes just not interested. Think ill just wait until its a bit warmer and just stick the undies straight on him with no nappy and deal with the mess. Lucky we have floor boards so will be easy to clean up. But then again my son can be so stubborn! Thanks hun.. hehe yep i cant wait to see it too lol. Aww poor Hayden. Glad its not hurting too much. But ahhh i guess thats just the first in a long line of injuries for him.. comes with the "boy" territory hey.
Pixie.. hope the sleeping starts to pick up soon. Maybe shes going through a growth spirt making her a little irritable. Coffee machines are great hey!
Kell - I'm a bit fuzzy on the exact time. It was between 2 and 3yrs though, was over 2.5yrs I'm pretty sure. We waited till it warmed up too. Much easier. Big hugs  Good luck with it. Elijah is so so so stubbon too.
Pix - I hope the sleeping gets better. My boy has decided he doesn't need sleep today, which is annoying but he's actually been better then the other days this week. Shock horror. I usually give Haydie a ball of wool if he's whinging at me and he's right while I do my stuff. Elijah doesn't really pay that much attention. He likes to tell me "Nice knitting, Mum" though. It makes me smile. Lol. I also hope you're feeling better.
Having a bit of a crappy day where nothing really goes as I want it to. I made a cake and had a go at fondant. You ladies inspired me to give it a try!!!!
It didn't turn out that great but it's ok for my first attempt with fondant, I suppose. If I can get a decent picture of it, I'll upload.
I really just don't get MIL. We find out last night that they're (MIL + partner) are coming here for a little weeks holiday at Bermagui next weekend. They have booked this holiday house and loads of people are coming too - both SIL's & family, aswell as MIL's neighbours(WTF?!). They didn't once call DP to ask if he could get time off work or book their thing to kinda work around us to actually see DP & their grandsons. It makes me so so sooooo angry for DP's sake that they don't even act as though they care about him or his children. MIL has only met Haydie once, and the SIL's haven't been met him at all. Why come down this way for a little break if you don't want to spend time with your son and grandsons? There are plenty of other ocean and places to fish. GRRRRRGRRRR
It's their BIG HUGE LOSS I know, and I kinda hope that Haydie cries in their faces (like he does with some people he doesn't know or see that often) when he sees them. I'm so mean. :wall: :wall: :wall:
I'm sorry if that doesn't make sense I just needed to get it out.
xox
Hi
I was just reading and am going to post when the boys have a nap but had to ask this...
Tennykins- Do you Live in Bermagui??? that is groovy if you do i go there all the time heaps of my family live there.
If you do! do you know the Jubb's and Wotson's? i surpose if you live in bermi you will, there is that many of them. my grandfather and uncle used to run the tilba cheese factory many years ago.
anyway just wondering.
anyway BBL
Hey Kristy :hello:
No, sorry I don't live there. I live in Bega which is close-ish by. :)
Just popped in to say we got the boy weighed. He's like 11.5kg. Whatta porkie pie!
Have a great weekend everyone!
xox
Hello!!!
Im so happy right now... Jesse did a poo on the toilet (potty)!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im so proud!!!! Hes been so difficult to TT cos hes just so stubborn and really just cant be bothered i think. Today have been making a big point on him sitting on the potty alot. Tonight after dinner and before his bath i said ok go sit on the toilet before we get in the bath and try and do a wee. He said i popped mummy and looked in and said ooow i had a look and he did a little poo. I said keep going good boy youre doing a poo and he was so proud. So we ran around the house singing "Poos in the toilet" lol as you do. Gave him a car i had put away for a rainy day as a reward. Am also using a TT reward chart which seems to be working great as hes very big into rewards and stickers atm. So yeh. I just hope this is a start of it. Tomorrow will tell.
Tenny.. yeh that is really rude of them.. and just weird. Totally, its their loss but still, its the principal. I kinda know how you feel, my brother and sister are favourites in my family so my family and i always get put on the back burner. It sux, but yeh ive learnt to kinda live with it and just make the most of the family and friends that do care. As Kristy always says to me, you can choose your family just as much as your friends
hi.
all good here.
Kell- :hooray:for jess. he is a very cleaver boy.
I'm TT Isaac too and we are also going great. the first 2 days he just kept weeing on the floor but then all of a sudden he has done all wee's and poo's in the potty or toilet. he did one wee on the floor yesterday but he was running to the potty at the time and just didn't make it. i'm very proud. i just keep asking him about every 20 mins if he needs to wee and he decides if he does. he even did a wee at the shops in the kids toilet, i just wiped it with a disenfectant wipe first. so all week we have been nappy free during the day (except at school) woo hoo.
Tennykins- i know Bega well, we know some people there too.next time i'm down we can meet up.
well i have lost one of my good eaters. sebi is living on banannas and yoghurt atm. he is getting fussy, isaac did too so i know he will come around eventually. Caleb still will eat anything (and i mean anything).
well gotta go bub crying.
