Hiya everyone,
I've tried the Lansinoh but I found Palmer's Coco Butter Nipple Cream better. All you can do is try them all and see which is best.
Welcome Becca and congratulations on Oskar.
Fee - I burst into tears at times only because I get frustrated with myself. Make sure you write down all your questions for the clinic so when you go you can remember everything. I hope Cooper settles soon.
Trish - you must have been so scared when you couldn't find Joel in the bed. One of the reasons we don't like Danielle in the bed - we are both really heavy sleepers.
Em - Danielle's belly button stump fell off when she was only a week old but the little stump that goes in had blood/gunky stuff coming out of it for about a week after that. Just keep cleaning it and keep it as dry as you can. It will heal up. Good to hear Simon's helping out. Ken's helping out too which is really good. And he's making his own lunch now too. Danielle always wants a feed a 4am so by the time I feed her, settle her and put her back down it's 5am and the alarm goes off at 6am - argh!! So he leaves me in bed and gets himself ready for work and off he goes so I can have a bit more sleep.
I've decided it's time to start to get back into shape. I'm cutting out all the rubbish I ate during pregnancy (before pregnancy I was a no fat/no sugar queen - during pregnancy I let go a bit) and we've started walking again a few weeks ago already and now we are up to 30-45 min every other day. I feel so much better after I go and Danielle loves the pram. I'm going to go to the gym for a very light session tomorrow and Mum's going to look after Danielle for me. I'm so looking forward to it. I can't wait until I can take her to the Yummy Mummy swimming class when she's a bit older.
I better go. Danielle's awake and we are going to have Play Time.
-
Oh Fee - don't worry I burst into tears at least once a day - when we first got home from the hospital it was more than once a day - I have a bad case of the baby blues - I can't find a happy place and it's so silly because this should be one of the happiest times of my life (apparently..!!!) but all I can think about is doom and gloom - as soon as the sun goes down I get so depressed because I know the tough times are about to start
I am finding it difficult to see Charlie as anything but a job at the moment and that makes me feel really really guilty - I can't wait until he gets a little older and isn's so fragile. He is very unsettled after feeds too - I am trying to switch from feeding him lying down (due to stitches) to feeding him whilst sitting up and he's not coping too well - he gulps and gurgles and then gets heaps of wind that takes ages to come up, if at all. He'll fall asleep and then half an hour later he'll be crying and either wanting more to drink or needing to be burped again - so so confusing!
I guess what I am trying to do is take it a day at a time, it's all I can do, and I have to realise it's not going to be like this forever - we're just getting used to each other.
Cheer up if you can, or watch some old episodes of Will & Grace to take your mind of it! Gilmore Girls is on Arena at 5am - I watch that to distract me from being tired - it frustrates the hell out of me and I love taking the **** out of it!
Bubs - good for you with the exercise take it easy though - I have been quite lucky - I've lost over 10 kilos already - am way thinner than I was before I got pregnant - who hoo!!!
Welcome Becca - this is a fantastic group - absolute sanity savers!
hope everyone else is well and happy
Cheers, Em

There were some great ads on nine last night after midnight ... can't say not politically correct but a matchmaking ad for same sex (but sleezy IYKWIM not tasteful) and a great quiz show for desparatos ring 1900... to guess words that match fire... and win money - with a busty hostess.
-
Em - I wish I was like you! I was overweight before I fell pregnant and now I'm 8 kilos heavier than my before weight. I need to loose 16 kilos before I'm in my healthy weight range again. No time like the present!!
I'm so sick of seeing those Pro Active 30 minute ads! If I see it one more time I think I'm going to scream!!
-
Bubseykel - I need to lose some too. Pre-pregnancy I had been the same weight for years (>50 kg) and was actually pleased to be putting weight on at first. But I had put on about 20 kg at my last appt before Oskar was born, which was more than I expected too. I don't know what I weigh now as I don't own scales. However, when people say 'don't worry, your belly will shrink' I'm thinking, 'my pre-pregnancy pants can't be pulled on past my knees, a shrinking uterus will not change the size of my thighs!'. Hopefully breastfeeding will use up the reserves like it is rumoured to.
-
Ok - those Pro-Active ads need to be shot. They were on all of our channels last night at once!! I ended up watching this 60's show in black and white on another channel which was so so so boring!!!
Trish - I saw that show last night and WA can't play but it's not that hard really. Luckily Danielle went to sleep so I didn't have to watch it anymore.
Em - How are you feeling today Em? The best way is to take it day by day as you said. Remember Charlie isn't even 2 weeks old yet so you are still getting used to having him around and totally dependent on you. I'm sure you are doing a great job and being a fantastic Mum. I know what you mean about feeling like just a job - feeding, changing, burping, settling - where's the time for me now?!?! Just remember what Trish is going thru - 2 of them!!
Becca - I tried to get my pre-pregnancy jeans on that I wore the longest and I got the waist up to my hips but not over them. I cleaned out my cupboards and have gotten rid of my maternity clothes (well - put into storage until I need them for the next one - I can't believe I'm planning that already!) and organised everything into a daggy/around the house shelf and 2 going out and dressy shelves. I'm so looking forward to being able to wear my nice clothes again. I might not be able to wear some of this stuff until my boobs shrink too which I don't think it's any time soon - I'm 3 sizes bigger and had to be re-fitted for bras again!! Keep going with the BF - apparently it does help with weight.
I guess I'm quite lucky that Danielle hasn't been too hard on me. We go out every other day, we get things done around the house and thankfully settling her hasn't been too bad either. I'm sure my day will come and she's horrible and you guys have it nice and rosey.
Have a great day!!

We had our first trip to the "Well Baby Clinic" today. Cooper is doing great. His stats at birth and now are listed below:
BIRTH: Head circ - 35.2 cm / Length - 51.5 cm / Weight - 3630 g
TODAY: Head circ - 36.7 cm / Length - 54.5 cm / Weight - 4020 g
Cooper is 2 weeks and 2 days old today. He has put on 205 grams per week. The minimum they should put on is 160 grams. So he's doing well!
While he was lying nude on the bench Cooper decided to let loose with a wee and then a poo! The wee sprayed over the wall and on our nappy bag. Some even got on Mark!
I asked the midwife about Cooper being grizzly and unfortunately it's pretty normal - especially in the early evening. He may just want to feed every hour! They say the first 6 weeks are the hardest.
Our next appointment at the clinic is on Tuesday, 15 August.
Oh yeah, guess what?! I fit into my old jeans! Yay! I wore them to the clinic.
Becca – Welcome to the July group! Oskar is such a cute name! I assume that the Early Childhood Health Centre is what I went to today – mine is called the "Well Baby Clinic" and it's at my hospital. I pay for visits. I could go to the free clinic but chose to pay to go back to my hospital. It's nice to see familiar midwives there etc. I had to make an appointment. Basically I got to ask any questions, we chatted about family medical history, went through various things about Cooper and also myself. Then Cooper was weighed and measured.
Bubseykel – I asked so many questions at the clinic today and am feeling a lot better. The midwife said Cooper is doing really well. About him being unsettled – it's just part of it all! So I need to get used to it. At least I am feeling more confident about my milk supply and that Cooper is getting enough etc.
Fraser – More on the belly button stump. Cooper's fell off yesterday. The midwife at the clinic today said it's okay to pull down the skin around the belly button now and clean inside with a cotton tip. I hear ya on the crying, blues and feeling like it's all just a huge job. I've been the same at times. I can't wait until Cooper is a little older too. It's hard right now I think.

Hope they work.
Dylan is feeding quite well has been solely on breatsmilk for a few days now I was topping him up with formula but actually gave him some formula tonight as I have an upset tummy and didn't want to pass it on. Not sure what it is probably overkill on the fibergel and prunes. Hav had lots of issues 'down there' since Dylan's birth but slowly getting over it. He is not great on the settling thing though but we are working on it. The latest thing I have been trying is wrapping him tightly, dummy in, lullaby playing and gently pushing the pram up and down which is where he is sleeping at the moment until we get him in the cot. He also like to come to bed with us and will sleep there or on my chest with my arm under his bottom with me gently patting him on the bottom. These all work so far and sort of.
Anyway hoping more ladies come over and join us soon.
Bye

hi all
well we are doing really well, Charlotte has been great, sleeping well over night, she has been waking up around 11:30pm then at 4am and then abour 8:30-9am, the only thing is that she likes to sleep with me during the night, and in the day she likes her swing (the best thing i have ever brought) i have been trying to get her to sleep in her bassenet during the night, she will settle for about an 1hr and then she likes to be with me, but if i get sleep it is great. The Health nurse came out today, just to weigh her, she has put on 300 grams on in a week and a half. B/F is going well. I am going to take Charlotte to the doctors on friday about her tounge tie.
Cassie- i love the pics of Dylan. Charlotte dosn't like to get wrapped, she pulls her arms out straight away and if she carn't she crakes it.
fee- glad to see that Cooper is putting on weight. Thats funny about him pooing on everything, all babies go through some sort of grumpy time during the day, charlottes is normally about 7:30 to 10:30pm where she wants to feed all the time, however she is sleeping through it at the moment.
Bubs- glad to see you are out and about walking, as soon as i get the toddler seat for my pram i am going to start walking, i have gone off all junk food at the moment, i ahve only had a little bit of chocolate but i can not eat too much before i feel sick, i have also only been drinking water, and i have lost 11 kilos, since having Charloote. B/F has been helping.
Becca- Welcome.
I have just found out my BIL girlfriend is 4-5 weeks pregnant, which is so cool:)
-
hi ladies,
we had our clinic appt today also, went quite well - no wees on the clinic nurse but he did try his best to poo on her - missed though.
Charlie has put on 290 grams in a week and has grown 1cm and 1/2 to 54.5 cm in total!!
So clearly not having any problems with the breastfeeding! just have to learn to cope with the emotional - he's healthy and well cared for - I just have to manage my mental state now.
Fee - sounds like Charlie and Cooper are quite similar in size and habits! evenings are the most restless - we have just managed to settle him now - after a feed that initially started at 5.30pm..... so tiring!
Cassie - yaay for pictures of Dylan at last! he's so adorable! we;re the same with settling Charlie - trying music and dummies and the moment
Bubs - are the pro active ads the ones that Jessica Simpson and P Puff Diddy Daddy do? I'm a bit better today - not so frantic. I was overweight before I got pregnant also, but I had such bad morning sickness I lost heaps of weight in the beginning - who said bulemia doesn't work....... Kidding!!!!!
KMH - I love having Charlie in the bed with me - but it means I don't get much sleep because I only doze in case I squash him.
well better go and do something that I wouldn't be able to do if Charlie was awake!
keep happy ladies - Em.

Wow.... I have just logged on and been busy reading all your posts and catching up on all your wonderful news and experiances!
A huge thank you to everyone for your lovely posts and especially to Dee and Em! Sorry to have given you both such a scare...but we had a very hard time with Jensen's birth! Ill write a birth story soon...just dont have the time right now...but things didnt go to plan at all at his birth...in fact it was all pretty bad....induced...then found out he was posteriour (spel) had to have an epi...that didnt work...had to use forceps...that didnt work...then had to have a spinal block and more forceps...plus a epesiotimy (spel..sorry very tired)...load of stiches! OOOwwwch is right Em!!!
Anyway its all been so worth it....he is just the love of our lives...we got home yesterday and Im sooooo teary...I have just been feeling so overwhelmed by it all...Im ok one min the next Im balling my eyes out:crying: ...so I totally know what you mean Em when you say its hard to find a happy place when your scared and everything is so new....Jensen had a small vomit this morning and it had bright red blood in it...about a teaspoons worth...I just bolted in and woke up Rob and we called the hospital...I have never been so scared in all my life...we were told it was blood from my cracked nipples....so I have been pretty much :crying: ever since that happened! Ohhhhh this is so much more stressful than I ever thought it could be! God I hope that as I get more confident ....I will feel less stressed and emotional....

Just thought I'd add myself to the list!!!
Bubs was born on July 10th at 11:29pm. Named Jacob.
Birth weight was 3.6kg, head circumference was 36cm, and the stupid midwife didn't measure his length!!!
We went home fine three days after the birth and he was breast feeding good. Two days later he was refusing feeds so I took him to tthe hospital. Ended up getting rushed up to the Mater Children's Hospita, Brisbane (like 3 hours from home). Spent two days in ICU and then nine days in the ward. The doctors aren't sure what the problem was exactly. He had an infection, but they never told me what, and then he couldn't maintain his own blood sugar levels. They fasted him for 8 hours when he was 2 weeks old to see how his sugar levels went, and since then they havebeen fine.
We have been home for 8 days now, and I am hoping that we've had our fair share of scary baby experiences. For a while atleast!!!
Had a normal vaginal birth. No pain relief at all. Ended up with two superficial stitches.
Birth is definitely an eye opening experince, but I've pretty much forgotten it now anyway!
Hope all your babies are doing good.
-
Supa star - welcome to our group. Good to hear Jacob is ok now. It's really scarey when things like that happen. Can't wait to hear how he goes.
Baiza - I too found Danielle prefers the bottle too but I'm still expressing and giving her formula for top ups. There's no right or wrong way - whatever makes you happy.
Tanya - I'm glad you are starting to heal now. I'd be writing a letter to the hospital too. That's not good enough! Our clinic isn't like that. I would love to find a mother's group to join. I'll have to ask the nurse tomorrow when we have our weigh in.
Hi Cyn - good to hear from you again!! Hang in there - the hormones will settle down. Just remember (this is what a girlfriend told me - the best advice I ever got!) go with your gut/mother's instinct as it will be right. This is what she wrote to be in a little book from my baby shower "For any advice, don't ask me coz you'll just be worse off, in fact, don't really ask anyone. You will know what the best thing to do and will always be the best parents." Spoken from a true friend who's had 2 kids - gez I love her!!
Em - yep - those Pro Active ads are the one with them in it. Luckily I didn't see them last night. Danielle slept through that part of the night. That's quote from my friend is for you too - I hope it makes you feel stronger about everything.
Kel - sounds like Charlotte's sleeping pattern is great. Yay for putting on weight.
Cassie - yay for the photos!! He's a little angel!!
Fee - Cooper made me laugh about the poo and the wee. I'm dreading Danielle pooing and weeing while she's nude there too. Good to hear he's going well. Yay for the old jeans!!
Settling - I found Danielle loves to be wrapped in a bunny rug and just cuddled when she goes to bed. If I put her in her bed without a bunny rug she'll wake up within half an hour without fail. I'm lucky that she sleeps in 3-4 hour stints during the night and will settle in her own bed in her own room (which is right next to our room). I have to leave a night light on and put a soothing CD going but I can handle that just to have our bed to ourselves.
Has anyone else looked downstairs yet? I noticed that the opening is very big and open. Is anyone else like this? It just looks really abnormal. I'm just wondering if it's normal. I'm not too concerned - I'll just wait until my 6 week checkup.
I better run - I'm off shoe shopping. Seeing I don't want to buy clothes until I loose my weight again I have a shoe fettish. Shower, feed and we are off.
Have a great day.:)
-
Since Jacob was in ICU and we have gone through the drama and all that, I decided to just bottle feed him because it was easier and I wanted to make sure he feeds enough! People have been giving me the most disapproving looks and making really nasty comments about my choice.
Also, my boyfriend keeps saying I should breast feed and so does my mum. How do I politely tell them that I have made my chouice without getting into an argument and how can I make them understand it from my point of view???
It's really concerning me!!!
-
Hi Boisey and Supa Star and welcome to the 'other side'. If you would like your details added to the front page, just email one of the mods listed.
-
We're having a good day today. Cooper is being a little angel. He's feeding well and sleeping well. Last night he actually went 7 hours between feeds – from about 5.00 pm to 12.30 am! When he finally woke me, my boobs were so sore!
Cassie – They are such cute photos of Dylan! He's adorable!
kmh – Sounds like things are going great for you. And wow you've lost 11 kgs – well done!
Fraser – That's great that Charlie is doing so well. It's so reassuring to hear they are putting on weight etc! I was very happy after leaving the clinic yesterday. I couldn't believe Cooper had grown 3 cm in length! Maybe he's going to be tall like my DH!
Boisey – Oh the tears! It's scary being so emotional isn't it! I bet you had a scare with the blood in Jensen's vomit. I'm glad to hear everything is okay.
Tulip – The clinic I go to is at the hospital – it's not combined with a mother's group or anything. Sounds like a pretty cool idea. About the dummy – we resorted to it the other night but he just spat it out!!! So we haven't tried it again.
Baiza – I hope things work out with the bottle for Bailee. As long as he is happy that's the main thing!
supa_star323 – Congratulations on the arrival of Jacob! Another boy for July! Hope everything is going well for you guys now and that Jacob is feeding well.
Bubseykel – I'm a bit scared about looking "downstairs"! Well I've had a few feels and peaks but nothing too much! I think my vagina is okay but it's more the perineum area. Either it's still swollen or there are some hemarroids down there?! I'm not sure. But it's not sore or anything anymore! And I have no probs with wees or poos! No pain etc.

Hi ladies
Wow you girls sure write more than when we were in the due in July group, it is great though because we are all going through similar things.
Had a lovely morning out this morning with my girlfriend and her two daughters (2 and 6 weeks) we went and had lunch and chats which was great. Dylan was an angel and slept in his pram the whole time. It was our first solo outing and the first time I had taken him out in his pram, also his first restaurant visit. It is amazing how many cafes are not pram friendly and how waiters/waitresses look at you in horror when you want com in with your baby. I probably did the same thing during my time in the hospitality industry. My friends 2 yr old stood up on her chair and then promptly fell off it onto her front on the floor and screamed so my friend passed her bub to me and I felt so maternal sitting there with hers in my arms asleep and mine in his pram asleep. my god I am a mum it really is still sinking in. It is a nice feeling though.
Was going to write some personals but Dylan a bit unsettled and DH out at a rehearsal (he is a guitarist in a rock band) so no time for me oh well that is the life of a mummy!!!

hi all
well so much has been happening.
we went out today just to my mums and Charlotte was really good, my sister asked how long i am going to b/f for and i said 12 months why?, she said that Charlotte likes to feed all the time and that must be annoying. Because Madison was bottle feed. She has settled in her Bassinet tonight, YAY:) , she is starting to sleep in there during the night, but only for 1-2 hours at a time, then she cuddles in for a few more hours before a feed, last night she was a bit restless, but i kept feeding her in bed.
We got the baby bonus today.:) I finally have some money, Madison is going to get some new clothes.
Bubs- i am going to get some new shoes as well, now that i have some money. madison has music to go to sleep with, i don't really care about it, she asks for it, but she sleeps so that is the main thing.
Tulip- those pro-active adds are so annoying, i have been watching channel 2 has there is normally better shows on at the time. That is a long time for Lucas to go with out being weighed. did a Midwife come out to your house. I hope you enjoy your mothers group i still go weekly to mine that i started with Madison we have been going for about 18 months.
Cyn- i hope you are recovering well, you poor thing, i too had an epesiotimy, it is starting to feel much better now.
Cassie- Glad to see you are getting out of the house, i have been to my mothers group by my self, it is hard work with 2. Are you still taking fibregel, i am. It is horrible not being able to go to the toliet when you need to go.
Super star- welcome i hope Jacob gets well soon, don't worry about what people say about b/f i couldn't feed my oldest girl, my milk didn't come through, and now with Charlotte i can.
Baizar- do what you have to do what ever makes you and bailee happy is great, Madison wasn't breast feed and she is doing great.
Fee- you are so lucky with Cooper sleeping so well, your boobs would of been sore.

Hey Ladies,
Surfacing from the milky sleep void to say hi. Ben started feeding this morning at 4.30 then I had a niagara of spew at 6am ...so feeding went 'til 8.
I have finally got an appointment with a specialist for my kidney - had major problems with renal colic after Ben was born and had extra days in hosp.
Had another Niagara vom fest with Ben this evening - extending a feed which started at 5.30 to finish at 8.30. fun.
Benny boy is doing well, is extremely settled and placid - so thankful!
Still haven't read all the posts - the way I am going will be lagging behind! Hope everyone is happy and healthy - will post again when I have time!
-
Hi all!!
No real news here. I saw that stupid Pro Active ad again last night. I ended up watching channel 2 which had some war movie thing on. I've got to make sure I have a sleep today sometime as the Eagles are on tonight and I really want to watch the game. Go Eagles!!! We are going for another weigh in this morning then food shopping. On the weekend we are going to get some family photos done and some of Danielle in those little cute outfits. We got her birth certificate in the post yesterday - yay - it's official - she's been born!!
Boybump - good to hear Ben is very placid. Danielle is very similar. Bugger about the long feedings but if that's what they want that's what they get.
Kel - so happy that Charlotte's starting to settle in her bassinet. 1-2 hours sleep alone is better than none!! I used to feed Danielle in bed before I started expressing. Yay for the baby bonus!! We've decided that we don't really need the money so we are going to put it into a trust fund for her and she can have it when she's 18 or something. Hopefully by then it's grown heaps.
Cassie - sounds like you've settled into motherhood nicely. The outings are so fun once you get the hang of them. Sounds like you had a great time.
Fee - so glad you had a good day. It always makes you feel better. And it's always better when you can get some decent sleep. Mine's usually about 4 hours from 8pm to 12am - from then on it's every 3 hours on the dot.
Supa star - if you don't want to breastfeed you don't have to breastfeed. Put your foot down and just say it's the way I'm doing it. I can understand why after all you've been through. Stick to your guns!!
I'm off for a shower before Danielle wakes up and try and do something around the house but I've only got an hour!
Have a great weekend.
-
Good Morning,
Had a hellish night - more Mega spews - we eventually got to sleep at 1 after starting at 7... baby didn't cry but mum did!
Spoke to a midwife at hosp this morning and worked out I am feeding him too much - poor thing - he doesn't refuse it though!!
So I fed him on one boob this morning for just half an hour at 7 (with many burpings in between - just to be safe!) and it is now 9.30 and he is still asleep!!!YAY
I have a bath all ready for him then after a (small) feed we will perambulate 'round the corner to the shop to get stuff for dinner and see how much shopping the new steelcraft can carry.
I don't watch TV at night - have a radio tuned in to Radio National in Ben's room - there are some interesting things to listen to and no infomercials!
Have a good day everyone,
Guess I'd best be changing that ticker!!

welcome to the other side Cyn!! I am sure everyone has said this to you, and when people said it to me I wanted to tell them to f*ck of - but it does get better. I think what I was like a week or so ago when we came home from the hospital and what I'm like now it seems more like a year ago - I'm so much more confident and way less teary - I'm used to the night time feeds and hearing Charlie cry doesn't upset me as much as it used to. His quirky noises are hard to get used to - but we're getting there and I'm starting to enjoy him as a little person instead of dealing with him like a job.
Welcome Supa Star - the breastfeeding thing is such a tricky issue - people seem to be so opinionated about it - I say if you're not comfortable with it then Bubs wont be comfortable with it either. My best friend - who doesn't have any children and doesn't look like having any got in a big fight with me when I said I didn't want to BF - she got so so mad at me it was crazy - in the end I just used to tell her I wouldn't do it to get a rise out of her. I changed my mind once Charlie was born - but you should do what's right for you and Jacob.
Cassie - yaay for the solo outing - I don't think I'm ready for that yet - plus I don't know how to get the capsule out of the car - DH always does it!
Fee - 7 hours between feeds!! you're so lucky! I'm lucky to get four and that's on a good day!
Tulip - hope your nether regions are feeling a bit better. How is your mum giving you grief?
Bubs - I've had a bit of a look with a mirror at my downstairs area - thing is I never really looked before so I don't know if anything is all that different - my stitches are still there but all the swelling has gone down. Things seem a little smaller IYKWIM - bit concerned the OB just kept stitching until he used up all the thread he had.......
Hey Boybump - I HATE the mega spews - it makes me panic a little that he has gastro or something - the only thing that I like abou the huge spew is that Charlie falls asleep right afterwards. Bad thing is - my couches now have spew stains, there's spew on the carpet, in the bed and on one wall. It's amazing how happy I am to sink into a bed and fall asleep amid wet patched of vomit, wee and possibly lactated milk....!!!!! my bed used to be my shrine, perfect linen, soft and fluffly wollen underlay - it's all a bit crusty now!
ohmigod Cyn - I just saw the pic of Jensen - he is beautiful!
Happy Friday everyone, probably going to be in bed by 8.30 - had a glass of beer earlier - whoo hooo! bit worried that it will make Charlie sleep for too long though - feel a bit like a crack wh*re mum now.......
Cheers, Em

Wow everyone's been posting heaps since I last visited. I love reading how it is going with everyone.
Oskar is really easy to look after during the day and rarely even needs settling - he falls straight to sleep after feeding or when put into his bed. However, this changes at about 10 - 11pm when his unsettled time begins and continues until 1 - 2 am. I talked to a midwife today who said it is perfectly normal, he's just a night owl! I am coping fine as I just go to bed at 1 or 2 am, get up for two more feeds and start my day around lunchtime. A couple of nights he hasn't had this pattern (tonight is one so far - fingers crossed) and apparently he will eventually stop it.
I called my Early Childhood Health Centre and found out the first check is a home visit! The midwife came to day and was lovely. She was quite impressed that Oskar is smiling already and follows me around the room with his eyes. His measurements are:
Birth: Head Head 36.5 cm / Length 53 cm / Weight 4065 g
Now (24 days): Head 38.8 cm / Length 58.5 cm/ Weight 4880 g
Okay, off for a shower, I may just get to bed earlier tonight.

Cooper seems to go an hour longer every night! Last night it was 8 hours between feeds!!! He fed at 8.00 pm and then 4.00 am!!! I got a nice sleep in there. But he was quite unsettled from about 3.00 pm until that 8.00 pm feed. He did not sleep. I had to feed him every hour!!! No wonder he slept so long through the night!
So does everyone feed bubs in front of the TV during the night? I do during the day – I sit on the couch. But once it's dark I feed him in his room in my special feeding chair. I like to keep it dark and quiet.
Cassie – That's great you had a nice little outing with your friend the other day. DH and I have been on quite a few outings but I haven't been out with Cooper on my own yet.
kmh – Yay for the getting the baby bonus! We've put our forms in but am not sure when to expect the money. We'll be using it as "income" – just to go towards me being off work.
boybump – Hope Ben has settled down with his power spews!!! I didn't think you could overfeed a breastfed baby? I'm sure I read that somewhere. Cooper has a few power spews sometimes after I've put him down in his cot after a feed. Poor little thing.
Bubseykel – Yay for your Eagles. Poor DH was not happy with the referring in that game and didn't even watch it all. The Saints played so well last weekend too! Oh well…
Fraser – How did that glass of beer go – did it affect Charlie?!
Becca – Sounds like Oskar is doing really well. He's a big boy!

hi Ladies
Fee - I feed Sammy lying down in bed during the night and we both fall alseep. Cooper is a great sleeper - both our boys wake every 3hrs at minimum overnight mostly :asleep: . A little longer sometimes during the day.
We have a few milky stains on our sheets too - not sure if it was me or baby drool/vomit.
When they are unsettled I found the hugabub works wonders - they settle immediately and i can do anything except bend down low with both hands FREE.
They are 5 weeks old today and I can't believe where the time has gone.
KMH-We haven't got our baby bonu$ yet. They called the other day and we should get it soon.
Fraser - Joel makes lots of quirky nosies too - DH says it sounds like 'Flipper' - another little boy visitor said it sounds like a ****atoo !LOL
Tanya - how is Lucas going ? and you ?
Kel - how is Danielle's shoulder now - do they need to check it again.
Becca - Oskars weight gain is gr8
Boybump - Joel is a little chucker too but no powerspews thank goodness.
Cassie - great you are getting out with Dylan - you soon learn where not to shop/go - walked to local shops the other day- for exercise and bought myself a lovely vanilla slice  - the screen door in opened out and then you had to push a glass door in. The double pram fits thru standard doorways but only just.Makes me think I shouldn't go there again !
Hi Supastar -how long was Jacob in NICU ?
-
Good evening all,
Touchwood ...(tap my head)...Benny seems to have settled down with the power spews - I have had a day free of washing cottage cheese out from between my breasts! The other good news is today my wee has been blood free - I'm hoping this is a good sign and also hoping it continues to stay clear - have been drinking about 10 litres of water a day and no alcomohol.
re baby friendly shops - took Ben out in the pram to local supermarket and didn't realise til I got there that the shopping basket wasn't going to sit securely on top of the stroller. managed to get shoppping done - most of it fitted in the pram's basket when I went home but will have to rethink how I do small shops.
Babyamore - I put Benny in the kapoochie this evening and he fell asleep straight away - used it all the time with DS1 - just had to dig out the paper work to remeber how to put the thing on - not big on logic puzzles these days.
Fraser - LOL at falling asleep in crusty sheets!
Fee - this boy just won't stop sucking- apparently I was the same. It's not funny when he spews everywhere - but it is funny when the milk backs up and starts leaking out of his nose! At least I have warning then!
Does anyone else have bubs who like to sing to and love the boob before they feed? Benny goes into a type of blissy trance before he feeds - he'll be crying his head off and as soon as I put him infront of the boob he comes over all silly.
I wish you all good sleeps tonight and no voms.
Cheers Cle

very cute ticker pic of Benny Boybump

Fee - I can't believe Cooper went 8 hours between feeds, that's great. Oskar is still feeding every 3-4 hours (usually closer to 3). I don't watch tv when I feed him at night as his feeds aren't too long, apparently he has quite a strong jaw and can get what he wants quickly! Originally I was thinking of subscribing to one of those services that post you out dvds and watching them (Netflix?) as there's not much on tv at night.
boybump - Oskar did a massive throw up this week too, though only one fortunately. It gave us such a fright (me and him!). He had been unsettled for ages and got such a surprise he stopped crying and went straight to sleep. He did it all over the bed sheets I had just changed :(
Regarding the supermarket, I order my groceries online, so that is easier. It is more expensive than some supermarkets, but the local one I would walk to is a Coles metro, so expensive anyway. I do walk to the fruit/vegetable shop for the fresh things.
Have you had a unrinary tract infection? I started to get one and drank lots of water with 'Ural' sachets in them. They turn your pee alkaline and thereby inhibit the bacteria, you can buy them from the pharmacy and it is worth always having some on hand as they work really fast.
Tulip - Have a great time getting your hair done. Can you give your friends a call to get some 'adult conversation'? I am not normally a phone person, but have found I am calling people more now that I am at home. My parents group doesn't meet until the 17th, I am looking forawrd to meeting some local people as I don't know many people in my area either. I can't believe you were the youngest in your group at 26!
Babyamore - You are doing so great having two! So often with Oskar I think, how would I have managed if I had more than one?!
Thursday night I had only five hours sleep and was looking forward to getting to bed Friday. A t 1 am Oskar finally settled and I went to bed, but with bad stomach cramps. Woke up throwing up at 2.30 am and stayed like that until 7 am. I was getting so dehydrated and could't stand up or I'd start to faint. Jeremy would have to bring Oskar to me when he needed to be fed. Felt bad all the rest of the day, stayed in bed drinking flat lemonade until Saturday night when I felt able to eat, Still pretty exhausted now and wish I could have gone out somewhere with Jeremy this weekend :(
Hope you all had a better weekend than that! Well, Oskar has now fallen asleep on me so I'm off to put him in bed.

Em – yay for the beer!! To be honest – I used to have ONE drink when I was pregnant with Danielle but I’m not really in the mood for a drink anymore. I used to have a light beer shandy which I really enjoyed.
Becca – Oskar has done really well!! He’ll get the hang of the sleeping at night. Sounds like you had a pretty rough weekend. Get checked out soon if you are still feeling off.
Fee – I was very proud of our Eagles on Friday night. I only just stayed up to watch the game. I didn’t have time for my sleep. That’s a really long time for Cooper to sleep – well done. I bet your boobs absolutely killed after that. I slept in this morning and we had people come over and I’ve only just managed to express a few hours ago and mine killed!!
Trish – Danielle’s shoulder is going fine from what I can tell. She moves it around like the other one. She has an appointment with the pead not this Wednesday next Wednesday for a checkup. I guess we’ll know more after that. Thanks for asking about us.
Cle – I’m bottle feeding Danielle but she screams until I put her in my arms to feed her, show her the bottle teat and she stops and thinks. Yay for no power spews and you getting back on track. I found that Woolies have got new trolleys with baby carriers on them. They are great. Our local Coles has old ones which are crap.
Tanya – I’m feeling pretty maternal too. I’m absolutely loving motherhood!! Sounds like Lucas is getting there with sleeping. Danielle only goes 3 hours so he’s not much different than her. Thank you thank you thank you on your response on the ‘opening’. I was getting worried I’m abnormal. I might have to go to the doctor early anyway. I still have a lot of white discharge like I did in the last weeks of pregnancy and just want to make sure I’m OK.
Danielle has put on 220gms this week. The nurse said anything over 100gms is great. She’s had a massive growth spurt too. Her 0000 outfits don’t fit anymore and she’s now in 000 which are slightly too big but we can deal with that. I can’t believe she’s a month old today already! I know this is really early to say this but DH and I DTD on Friday night for the first time. I was so scared incase it hurt but it was fine and I really enjoyed it. He was so great about everything. Except I found a tiny bit of blood afterwards which makes me think I should go to the doc about this too.
I’m sure there was something else I was going to write but I can’t remember and I have to go – she’s up again.
Take care!

Hi all
Just making to most of my alone time as DH took Dylan to visit his parents today so have had since 2pm with no baby and no husband. Actually felt very sad when they left as it was to be the longest that baby and I have been apart since conception, so got a bit teary, but have watched Memoirs of a Geisha, had a long nap, been on the internet and about to have a bath before they get back.
KMH I am still taking Fibergel though was taking it and eating about 6 prunes a day Mon, Tues, Wed last week as nothing was happening and then my girlfriend visited on Wednesday night and I had to rush to the toilet it was pretty ugly so have been taking just Fibergel since then and nothing til today from Wednesday it is very weird I have never had such troubles with my bowels!!! How are you going?
Bubseykel Yes we had a great outing on Thursday and I then got itchy feet so we walked to the shops on Friday just the two of us and the pram and did a bit of shopping and got a hot chocolate, and just had a nice wlak in the sunshine.
Fraser I haven't had a look 'down there' as yet and will be too scared to for a while, but when i look in the mirror at myself front on and nude and look at my map of Tassie it looks like it is hanging lower than before, weird!
Fee I am feeding Dylan in front of the TV in the daytime and was during the night but now that my 'bits' are feeling mostly better I am feeding him in bed. DH keeps complaining about the bad daytime TV though!
Baby amore Is the hugabub a sling? I am sure we will all get to know what shops to go to and where not to go with our prams, my pram is a mountain buggy urban elite jogger so is quite big but very manoeuverable (sp?). Still it is hard to get in some doorways without help and mostly people don't help.
Boybump Dylan gets a 'milk drunk' look during and after his feed and also he does cheeky smiles around the nipple though people would say it is wind I think it is smiles and his eyes go all crinkly so cute! What is a kapoochie?
Tulip You are right it is an instinctual thing feeling maternal and now knowing how to hold s baby. I seem to have Dylan a lot and do lots of things with Dylan like feeding, changing, settling, cuddling, etc that i feel bad for DH and keep asking him if I am hogging him which he always says no to, but the mother thing has just been there since the start and I do what needs to be done for my little boy, I still feel bad for DH though. Yay for getting your hair done.
Becca Dylan often falls asleep on me too. Sorry you have been unwell I have stomach cramps today too, may be fibergel or leftover pizza!
Does anyone know how to attach a photo to my ticker??? I have tried to do it but it seems to take forever to do.

Evening Mums
We took Benny for a stroll down the mall this morning - the markets were on and I also had to go to the chemist - dreaded haemmoroids - ugh. He slept the whole way but DH and I couldn't believe the rudeness of a woman who lit up a cigarette right next to the pram.
Cassie A kapoochie is a baby carrier - he sits at my front facing inwards and once he can support his head he can face outward. Its great for settling him and keeping my hands free.
Becca Somehow during the last week of my pregnancy I managed to slip and damage what I thought was my bladder - was passing blood in my urine- after the labour I Had major pains - midwives told me it was post labour pains - unfortunately after going home on Weds I was readmitted on Thursday morning with the same pains - had two scans and they found a lesion on my left kidney. Its all a complete mystery - doc reckons he only sees damage like that in footy players. Seeing a specialist on Friday - hopefully they can enlighten me. I hope you are feeling better.
Tulip While we were out this morning there was an information stall for a local playgroup - so I got their details - all my friends work - so I want to get out and meet some mums really soon. I'm getting a hair cut this week - taking a risk and letting the hairdresser do what she wants she's been cutting my hair for two years so I trust her.
BubsBen's toes are getting squished in his 0000's so he is wearing mainly 000's I'm going to take a pair of scissors to the toes of the 0000's so he can keep wearing them for a while.
Sleep vibes to you all!

hi t o all my july mummys
just to let you all know Xavier Robert Bell arrived thrusday 12.29pm after 15 hour induced labour. He is well, ECHN has me on bed rest...grrrr. He weighted 7pound13.,
-
Cassie - you might need to reduce (compress) the pic in Lilypie - shouldn't take more than a minute to upload it if small.
Cassie & Boybump- Sammy gets that milk drunk look too and the smiles - very cute. With two - we get one each but when I see my Mum snuggling up and cuddling Joel (when I am feeding Sammy) I feel so jealous - not really but I feel like I am missing out.
-
Cassie – a couple of hours to yourself sounds like bliss. I get mine once a week when I go to the gym when Mum has Danielle. I don’t have time to miss her, I’m too busy working out. I’m going tomorrow and I’m so looking forward to it. I’m going to book in for my appraisal once I get the total all clean from the doc. I think a Hugabug is a baby carrier. I’ve got one for Danielle (we bought it on Saturday) and she loves it and falls asleep.
That’s a good idea Cle. I might cut off the feet and just put socks on her. But she’s got so many clothes it’s not funny. If I don’t murder them I can pass them onto one of 2 friends who are due in January.
Yummy mummy – congratulations on Xavier!!
Danielle had a 5 hour sleep last night from 8pm to 1am! It was bliss!! But every 3 hours since then. I guess I can’t really ask for more. It’s horrible weather here today. It’s been stormy and blowy all night and even now this morning. Looks like I’m not going to the bank today!

hi guys:hello: - I know i have been a bit slack - its quite hard getting time to go on the computer! I like trying to catch up on sleep too much. Well This is week two of home alone and we are doing OK - Just had the midwife round and the wee tubby put on 280gms last week (10oz!!) (up to 8lb 10 oz) so he is feeding really well - had to laugh at cle saying that her bubs is a wee guts and the dribble out the nose for warning of the power chuck to come - as we have that too!!! shame that there is not a fuel gauge on these babies letting you know they are topped up enough!
Weather here is crap and everyone has colds - DH is sleeping in another room as he is coughing too much and Ethan has the snuffles. Thats not helping with sleep - we get about 3hours at the most at a time.
The dressing came off my c-section wound today and its lookin really good - it was probably over due but i was too much of a wimp to take it off and i was worried that it wasn't selaed very well after the weeping last week.
Ok sorry for no personals will try really hard to keep up...
by for now

hi all
well i havn't been on for a few days and so much as happened.
charlotte is doing well, she has her restless time during the morning where she wants to feed all the time, and she dosn't sleep much and then in the afternoon she will normally have a big sleep, over night she feed about 3-4 hourly. She slept in her bed last night all night too:) for the first time, tried to put her in their today and she wont go down, she is laying in her bouncer at the moment.
We moved Madison in to her big bed yesterday and she seems to sleep longer in there during the day. I am doing well.
Cassie- i have stopped taking fibregel for the moment, things seem to be happening down there at the moment.
Bubs- you are game for dtd so soon, tim would like it but i keep saying until 6 weeks. Yay for Danielle sleeping for 5 hours. have fun at the gym tomorrow.
Yummymuumy- congrates on the birth of xavier

Oh Cyn - sounds like you are having a bit of a battle. This is what I do. I don't know if it will work for you but you can give it a try. I had some trouble with her for a while. I noticed that Jensen is not even 2 weeks old yet. You might just need to give him time. Danielle's only just settling nicely about a week ago. Anywho - she has feeds from 5ish every 1 1/2 to 2 hours until about 8ish as that's what she wants. She normally takes about 120mls in total give or take 40mls. Her last feed is about 8ish. I feed her as much as I can and as much as she can take. Before I do her last feed I wrap her up in a bunny rug so she feels warm and secure. I feed her, burp her and cuddle her until she falls asleep. If she's not settling I go in my rocking chair or just walk around the house and pat her bum. For some reason patting their bum helps them settle. When I go and put her down I put her night light on, turn her CD on, lay her down and tuck the sheet and blanket under the matress so she's nice and tight in her craddle. If she stirs as I put her down I pat her again. I might not be much help but that's what works for us. I also found that expressing and then bottle feeding her helps settle her too as she seems to get more that way then from me directly. I just have a low milk supply which doesn't help and have to give her formula too.
Kel - Yay for Charlotte sleeping in her own bed!! She just needed some time to adjust. Danielle was crabby this morning too after her good sleep last night. Luckily she's having an afternoon sleep now. Just wait until the cranky evening!! I think I might put her in the carrier if she's really bad.
AJ - sounds like Ethan is going really well. I was thinking about you the other day. Good to hear you are well.
