V - how does Avaleigh cope in the heat? I hope you aren't near the fires at all. Its going to get up to 39 here next week - we have cooling but its evap so it doesn't work well when its that hot....trust me, it was that hot on our wedding day and I was cooking!!!
We can take out shares in FP as well Bec!!! Is your annoying dog thing the thing that has BLUE EAR, GREEN HAND??? Olivia got one of those, but I love it cause she smiles and giggles with it. She also got
these bongo drums also FP
lots of clothes
a few key sets but different kinds
one of those things she sits in and plays with things
lots of rattles
Play with me stuff (which includes the classic rings)
bath toys
bibs
and this cool pillow with OLIVIA on it, I love it!!
She also got vouchers which I went shopping with today :) We are going to NZ in Jan and its a bit cooler there so I bought a few cooler things for her to wear.
I have some shots on my facebook page from Christmas.
I am having a 1/2 facial, 1/2 foot spa and 1 hour massage tomorrow so I CAN'T WAIT!!!
Have a good day all

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!
Well, I am a bit late wishing every one sorry! Been so so so busy.
Kaetlyn got spoilt, and not by us! I feel stingy but all we got her was a little baby pool, 3 outfits, socks and a pair of shoes.
But DH's family brought her so much- a HUGE toy box that FIL made, will post a pic, its really good.
Walker, Jolly jumper music mat, clothes, clothes, clothes! A doggy that Flossie was talking a bout, a play qym thing, odds and ends of toys, about a hundred books!
I cant believe how many clothes she got. I am about to count them! I am in the process of folding them after washing them all, but have absolutly no where to put them! I said to Aaron, I feel really bad cause I think she will outgrow them all beofre they are worn more than twice. He said not to worry, we didn't ask people to buy them for us. I have kept a couple unwashed and will return them for a bigger size so that they fit her next summer, cause I seriously think she wont wear that many clothes.
Also, Aarons cousin found Kaetlyns teeth. they are showing at the front on the top. His nan said they might pop in and out before they are cut. Should I be putting bonjela on them? She has been pretty whingy today, but that coould be casue yesterday was such a big day.
I wanted to ask, for those that have had bubbas before, WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST WE GET TO START SOLIDS LIKE PLATES, CUPS SPOONS ETC, LIKE NECESSITY ITEMS? I was thinking of getting them in the sales as we have a few vouchers to use at big W.
-
Well I am back.
My christmas this year was very low key. Not as exciting as I thought it would be!! Next christmas is going to be way better cause Avaleigh will be more excited. I was stoked that she ripped in to the wrapping paper!! Avaleigh didnt really get much, but I only saw my side of the family cause Jason didnt want to see his side (LOL He said he saw enough of them at our wedding!) Avaleigh got a fisher price peek a block (I think thats what it is called!!), fisher price roll-around (she loves it! sides there and bangs to button and makes it all spin) some clothes, pj's socks and something from my sister that is WAY too hard to explain. From Jason I got an eternity ring to go on the other side of my engagement ring. I love it but it doesnt fit! So got to take it to the jewelers tomorrow to get it resized. I've put pictures of christmas on facebook.
Flossie - Avaleigh has been really good with the heat. I gave her some cold water today cause it was too hot to feed her and she loved it cause it was so cool. We have aircon, just one of those wall thingys, so it is cool in some parts of the house but others its not cause house isnt insulated  I have got to get the sorted out!!
Sara - how did they find kaetlyns teeth?? Can you feel them? Avaleigh has been biting a bit lately (my nipple and spoon!) so wondering if teeth may be on the way..
Well next big thing I am planning is my new years eve ****tail party. I cant wait!! Its meant to be another scorcher on new years eve (39) so it should be a good night!
-
Hi everyone, sounds like you all have a lovely christmas day.
Ours was very low key, which was nice for a change. The kids got spoilt as usual. Still have DH family to go, when we visit them in Sydney in early Jan. So the backyard is now full of a trampoline, play gym and a little swimming pool. Haven't had to use the pool yet, as it has been rather cool here over the last few days. Which is just amazing as it's normally like it is in Perth.
Oh one thing that made on Christmas day, was my closest sister got engaged. She just recently moved up to Mount Isa, so I'm so happy for her, that it happened. As I know she was feeling home sick. Can't wait to see them next.
Sara, if her teeth are nearly on the break through, I hope they come down and stay down. Charlize never got her first tooth through until she was 12 months old. But they had been playing peek a boo since she was 5 month old. One day you could see them, then the next they were gone again. Doesn't make for a happy baby. Fingres crossed she is a good teether. And good idea about exchanging her clothes for bigger sizes. I hate it when my kids grow out of something that they have only worn once maybe twice, it's such a waste.
Flossie, Ohhhhhhhh enjoy your pampering session today. I'm so jealous of you. I was only thinking yesterday how much I would love to have a facial, massage, manicure and pedicure. Must rub DH the right way first ;). And NZ in Jan, that sounds nice. Do you have family there?
Veronica, do you think that was the surprise your mum was going on about, the ring? Sounds nice, do you have a pic of all three together? And the heat over there sounds terrible. At least you have ac and a pool. That would make it a little easier to tolerate. New Years Eve party sounds great.
Nicky, glad to hear you had a great day.
Rebecca, wow at all the things xavier got. And the x man thing sounds like a wonderful idea. I would hate to see what my family would buy him as a keepsake, as they call him the mitchelon man after all his rolls, maybe a tyre or something lol :)
Hope everyone else had a wonderul day. I'm going down to my parents today to take the kids and their cousins to the beach. Charlize absolutely loves her cousin Paige, follows her around everywhere. I'm just glad she is a good kid and can tolerate her, unlike her brother who is a little turd, and threatens her because he gets jealous, he has some issues that boy. I just hope Jack doesn't learn off of him.
Anway enough crap from me today, have a great day everyone.
Oh one more thing, Charlize spent her first night in her bed last night, and she is still sleeping. I hope that continues every other night. She has had 3 day sleeps in it and I thought I'd try her in it last night, and so far so good. Can't wait to move the Cot into Jacks room, he has nearly out grown the port a cot in length, little bugger.
-
Boy are we Christmassed out. We've had about six Christmas celebrations in the last couple of weeks and I'm kinda glad it's over, my christmas spirit is pretty much used up and the house looks like a toy shop exploded. Autumn has been great at every get together, putting up with being handed around and not getting fussy. Mind you, she gets so happy when I give her time out to lay down and do some kicking/rolling on her own - the sounds she makes! I'm sure all the bubs have their excited voices, it's just so funny to hear.
I want what Flossie got! So jealous.
Sara, that's great that Kaetlyn got a toy box. I bought a plastic box to use but it no longer fits everything...and a real toybox would be so much nicer. Great idea to get bigger sized clothes too. As far as eating things go, I really like the heinz soft spoons. I have a little bowl with a lid for travelling (also heinz - it matches her cup and spoons, can't help myself) but other than that, I just use some ceramic dip bowls we already had as they are a good size for small amounts.
Mel, hasn't the weather been weird? At least it made all the travelling easy I guess, but it almost feels like winter is coming !? Good to hear Charlize is happy with her bed. lol at the tyre keepsake - Autie has been called michelin arms a few times too. where are your parents?
Hi Jem, wondered where you got to. How're the kids?
Oops, gotta go. Sounds like first naps is over and I didn't even do any housework - doh! Hi everyone I didn't get to -have a great day.
-
Sacha, so many toys!!! I'm glad you both had a great day. I love to match things for the kids as well, as it is so important hey ;). And I hear you about this weather. Very wierd, rather cold today aswell, don't know if we will go to the beach now, might still go but stay out of the water. My parents live at Victoria Point, not the best beach, but the kids love it, has a nice sandy beach and flat water. I just don't let them out far, as it is right in the middle of moreton bay, which is greatly known for its sharks eek!!! So only in the edges.
I forgot Sara about your question. I just use the 1st years take and toss spoons. They are a good size and you get about 10 in a packet, they change colour too when food is too hot. I used to have a container similiar to what Sacha said that holds the spoon, that I found really helpful as well. I just use little coloured containers I think they are the 1st years take and toss as well. You can re use them or throw them away, as the name suggests. I have used the same ones for about 6 months now with both kids. They come with lids and make great snack cups later on as well. But most of items are great. I just try to avoid big rounded spoons, as they don't fit in their mouths properely. Hope some of this helps.
-
V- I had been feeling around her mouth for hard bits (i really have no idea though)and could find any- i was looking for them at the end of the gums, not the front. I am not sure if it was Aarons Nan or cousin that found them, when you lift up her top lip, the gums at the froont are really white, like when you push on your skin and the pressure makes it go white IFYKWIM. She has been drooling heaps and also she will grab my/aarons finger, stick it in her mouth and chump away at it, like really biting hard on it. Other than that there have been no other signs. I thought that all the things were normal baby behaviour, but when you actually see the pressure of the teeth, thats when I realised it.
Wow on the eternity ring. Hehehe, you got all three in one year!! Lucky you!
TYhanks for the info about bowls spoons, etc. I guess I will just get an assortment and see what works best for us. Ahh the learning curve!!
-
Hey guys. Just a quick one to mention a website with cheap clothes. I've bought things (too many things...) and am happy with the quality. It's called Bump Baby and Beyond. Has flat postage fee for up to 9kg I think.
So few posts lately - hope everyone is happy and healthy and it's just the busy time of year that's keeping everyone quiet.
:hello:
-
Thanks Sacha, I've just made a few purchases myself. They have nice cheap stuff, could have gone crazy but thought I'd better just stick to essentials. Got some pj's for winder and a few sleeveless jumpsuits for Jack when it gets hotter. Thanks for sharing.
-
lol It's SO easy to go crazy that I was originally spending about $80! I got a hold of myself though and cut back before I actually committed. The long baby elephant pants are great for this in between weather, Autie wore hers today. I also bought pj's for winter - I got a size 0 in anticipation of having a one year old (gulp!) and they look quite long but I think they'll be good.
-
*lol* Sacha, you read my mind! I just made an order with them last nite and was impressed by the pricing! I already have some of the Baby Kaboosh stuff so knew that it was good stuff! :)
Hope everyone is well...seems all mummies are extra busy at this time of the year!
-
Well I spent about 70 on both kids. naughty naughty I know. I loved the monkey pj's got Charlee a couple of different sorts and Jack a pair as well.
-
OMG all can you believe that on Tuesday my boy is going to be 6 months old. eekkkkk. I want him to stay a little baby forever, stop growing up little man. We entered into a new era today. We moved the cot out of Charlees room and into Jacks. They both look so little in there beds. I'm starting to get upset with how quickly they are growing up. Before DH and I will know it, they will both be off to school. Makes me really want to have another soon, but no chance of that happening. I guess they will all grow up sooner or later.
-
*hugs* Mel...I'm starting to get a bit of anxiety cos Alessia is getting too long for the cradle and the pram basinette attachment. I don't want her to grow up so quickly either!!! :(
Are you planning on any more kiddies in the future?
-
Hey... Just popping in... FREAK OUT! I go back to work on jan 7th & I'm nervous!!!!
Although it's only 4 hours from 8pm til midnight so we dont have to put kids in Childcare! But waaaaah, I cant believe how fast time is going!!!
We are off to Zoo today, with a group of friends...
Zyon's already had a haircut we clippered his hair (he loved it vibrating on his noggin!) so he's got a skin head ATM!!! LOL He's every so gorgeous!
He woke every 3 hours every night since 4mth injections (18th Dec he had these) OMg I was going batty! but every time his nappy was soaked & him too, so the last few nights I've put him in the baby behhing bamboo nappies & he has slept from 8:30 & still asleep... YAY!!!!!!!
I do wanna keep up in here just been so hectic!
-
Mel, I know what you mean - Autumn is only five days behind Jack and I can't believe I've nearly got a 6 monther! Right at this minute she is sitting up at her piano all by herself with a pillow behind just in case and she is so proud of herself banging away on the keys, legs kicking frantically, panting like a puppy. lol Won't be long til she's in the shopping trolley seat instead of the baby cradle one :(
Tracey, Autumn had problems with a runny bum for three weeks after her 4m injections and I still think it was the rotavirus vaccine. I'm seriously thinking of not getting her the next dose at the six month ones. lol at Zyon's skin head. The
Balinese have a kind of numbering system for their children don't they? I remember nearly everyone we met telling us their name was Wayan or Made - is that because they don't want to say their real names?
-
lol For some reason I just got the mental picture of when Autumn is being held by someone else and is due for a feed and when I walk over to take her, her eyes go all big and her legs kick and she makes this excited 'uh uh uh' as she stares directly at my chest - lol it's all about the boobs. :cryinglaugh:
-
I remember that to. First born is called one name, second another set name. But they all had eastern names as well. I remember being ****ed one night in Bali and talking to a group of locals about it at a vodka ice bar. Very interesting, well what I can remember of it anyhow lol ;)
Sacha, Jack still isn't sitting up on his own yet. I know Charlee at this age was, but Jack has a much bigger upper body than her, so maybe he is still a little top heavy and can't balance properely. It's probably his big head lol. It's like my Doc said his boof head is inherited from his father, was rather funny when she wrote down in his baby record large cranium genetic (so nurses didn't think anything was wrong with him), and my DH looked at her and she said 'well it's your boof head that he inhereted not mine' lol was very funny, she is a lovely doc. Then when we left she said see you later boof head
Anyway must be off, BBL.
-
Oh yey Ihear you Sacha, Jack does the same, DH calls him Booby Boy !!! It's a nice feeling though, when they get all excited to see you hey? Even if it is just for our BB's.
-
Morning everyone!!
Mel - my gosh 6 months already!! Dont they grow soooooooooooo quickly!! I love Avaleigh being a little baby, but I also love her growing up because we are both learning something new. I just go with the flow and am not upset that she is growing up so quickly, but I guess every mum is different. But if she was going to be my only baby then I wouldnt want her to grow up quickly. But we are planning to start TTC for #2 when Avaleigh is 15 months old - I cant wait!! It'll probably happen after a friends wedding (they are having it in the cook islands and I want to have ****tails so will start after that!) and my friend is planning to TTC for #1 after her wedding so I told her that we could be pregnant together - how cool would that be!!
Tracey - aww at going back to work!! But atleast it is at night time so you still get to spend time with your babies. I hope it works out how you want it to!
Sacha - Avaleigh does that too at feeding time! Its soooo cute and I just cant get my boobs out quick enough for her. The other day a friend was holding her while I was doing something and my friend was wearing only a bikini top and she tried going for her boobs lol so I knew she was hungry.
I've changed Avaleigh's routine now and I quite like it! She wakes up at 7am for her first feed, next feed is 11am followed by half a banana. Next feed is about 2pm which is just breastmilk. Next feed is at 5pm which is solids. Then I bath her about 7.30pm and feed a little after 8pm and in bed and asleep by 8.30pm and sleeps til 7am the next day!! I love it! Gives me more time to wind down before going to bed. She is going much longer between feeds now and is even having a bit of a sleep inbetween feeds.
Does anyone here make their own baby food?? I am planning to start but not too sure where to start. My mum said to just boil up and puree vegies and meat so I guess I will start trying! I've kept all the baby food jars so I can put it in there and freeze it. I think we need a bigger freezer tho cause its going to be stocked up with baby food and breast milk soon!!
We are nearly all organised for our ****tail party. Jason has made a bar and its looking pretty good! We are going to get the alcohol and the rest of the food today, pick up some table and chairs and a fridge and probably set it all up. Would be good to have it all set up today so its not a made rush on Monday.
Well better go!!
-
V- you cant freeze glass jars/bottles- they cant expand and thus explode in the freezer! Just thought I would save you the trouble of clearing out the freezer looking for glass shatters!! Maybe you should invest in some 'take and toss' containers, as you can freeze, and defrost and eat from the one container?? Hehehe I brought all my containers and cups and stuff the other night in anticipation for the big 6month anniversary!!! I said to aaron, 6 months is going to be a big time for her- starting solids, swimming lessons and more injections!!!
Well its hot here agan today, so we have blown up Kaetlyns baby pool and am about to fill it, well put some water in it anyway, so that it is not cold water when we put her in it.
Does anyone else have a walker for their bub? Kaetlyn does, and she just loves it, she now knows how to manouver it around the house and follow us. Last night, aaron was on the lounge, i was in the kitchen and my brother was in the dining room, she was popping around to all three of us and seeing what was going on!!
I have just finished re-arranging kaetlyns room for clothes. Argh what a job, I had to fit them all in somehow! I hate that job, cause now when we go to get an outfit it wont be where it was before. Its going to drive Aaron crazy!!
-
Just popping in quickly in between packing - having a rest and an icy pole because it is super hot here today. T is being a grumpy bum too - i think he thinks its my fault its hot!
V - i brought a great book yesterday called Anabel Karmels Baby and Toddler meal planner. Its really good with recipes for heaps of different foods to make yourself. It even gives you times that you should boil/steam different foods for and then has a chart of foods you can give over 4 weeks so bubs is trying a variety of things.
We are starting Tom on solids today because he has been waking in the night for a feed again. He got a high chair for christmas - one of those ones that you strap onto a normal chair which is good. I am quite nervous about this new venture into food - i just got the hang of the milk thing!
Sacha - we are thinking about starting swimming lessons for T when he is 6months. He loves his bath and cries when you take him out even if the water is cold. I am not sure how he will go in the colorine (sp?) - at xmas one of the kids splashed him in the face when i was dipping his feet in the spa and he came up in a bit of rash. See how we go - gives me a chance to buy new bathers too!
Ok - going to look at this Bump Baby and beyond site! Bye xx
-
lol at Jack's boofhead Mel. Just more room for a genius brain. It is a very nice feeling when they get excited to see you and when their eyes follow you around when someone else has them. And when you go in to get them out of bed and get greeted with a big smile and kicking legs...aaawwww...
V - I have only ever given Autie homemade stuff and have found it really easy. She's not having meat yet so I just microwave vegies until they're soft and then mash them up - I don't bother pureeing but I make sure there are no big lumps, sometimes I use the stick blender. What I don't give her, I freeze in an ice cube tray put inside a zip lock bag, then store the cubes in small zip locks with whatever it is written on the outside - takes up less room. When I'm going somewhere I just put a couple of cubes in a small container. Sometimes I mix up the veg or fruit together or with a bit of rice cereal or mashed avocado. Autie is not too keen on sweet things like fruit, and didn't really like zucchini the one time I tried her but I keep giving her things mixed together until she accepts them. It's so easy - you don't need to add any seasonings or anything else. It's actually a lot of fun for me to decide what I'll try next! lol It's good to hear your new routine is working well for both of you.
Sara - that's cute that Kaetlyn follows you around. We don't have a walker, but I'm sure Autie would love it - she is getting a safety entertainer first so I can shower etc, so a walker will have to wait. It's exciting thinking about introducing solids isn't it?
Em - we bought one of the strap on chairs too. So far I haven't missed having a proper one - plus it folds up to take to other people's places - so handy - and so much cheaper!
Autumn's new trick is to wait until I put her to bed to poo her pants so I have to get her out again for a change - what a monkey! Speaking of which, I realised she thinks her name is monkey as she turns her head to that, but not her name....oops...
-
Hi all,
Its so hot here today, I can't stand it and 41 on NYE blah!!!!
I know what you all mean by growing up so fast! Olivia has done so many things today that has made me think that way. I bought a high chair and she was sitting up in that chewing on her rusk and she is laughing and smiling more and more at everything me and Jev do I love it but also don't want it to go too fast....but I also look forward to her being a 'little' girl and seeing what she is like IYKWIM??
Solids is SO confusing. V - how does Avaleigh go on the banana? Do you mash it all up? I might try Liv on some. I have been giving Liv solids for weeks now...we did a few days each on Sweet Potato, Zuchini, Potato and she screwed her face up and disinterested in each. So today I gave her some pumpkin from the Heinz organic and that seemed to go a bit better...its frustrating but I know she is still only little so will take it as it comes. But I have heaps in the freezer, made a big batch of lots of things....but trying her on the vegies first.
We bought a stroller today! We got the Valco stroller which seems pretty good and Liv seemed to enjoy being in there. We are going to NZ in 3 weeks and I didn't want to take the big pram, plus as she gets older she will probably like it better in a stroller. It may have been a bit more than usually strollers thought at $160. Does anyone else have a stroller or will you just use the pram?
Mel - how is your study going? I would love to do something, I don't know what I will do. I don't think I have the patience to be a doula though but think its a wonderful thing.
Hi to everyone, I know I keep saying I will get on here and talk more, sorry that I don't, I really enjoy it though and will try and get back on as much as poss.
xxxxxx
-
Quick Q - Jev may take Olivia in the pool tomorrow as we are going out - does Olivia have to have those swimmer nappy or can she just have the usual ones on?
-
Flossie- If it's a public pool of any kind, I think I would check with them. Normal nappies get huge and can fall apart in the water. Swimmer nappies are expensive though. Sorry can't be more help than that.
-
Thanks Sacha. They are the huggies brand ones right? I think I saw them - about $13 or something like that?
-
They're the ones. Have a fun swim! Reminds me I'll have to start thinking about swimming lessons...
-
Tracey, Autumn had problems with a runny bum for three weeks after her 4m injections and I still think it was the rotavirus vaccine. I'm seriously thinking of not getting her the next dose at the six month ones. lol at Zyon's skin head. The
Balinese have a kind of numbering system for their children don't they? I remember nearly everyone we met telling us their name was Wayan or Made - is that because they don't want to say their real names?
I definately think the Rotavirus caused Zyon to have a runny bum (still he does a runny poo in 95% of the nappies!) Finally starting to get a bit more thicker!
LOL @ the names!
Ok I'll give you a quick brief run down.....
I = Male, Ni = Female.
There is also a Caste system... (there is many varies)
But in a basic/brief run down Putu, Gede, Agung are generally first borns (then there's also caste names etc) then Made, is for second born, Komang, Nyoman are third born, Ketut is 4th..... so on & so fourth then back to 1 again... There are others but this is just basic...
We spent 6 hours in the heat @ the Zoo today & iut was awesome, Man I am LURVING SUMMER!!!!!
-
 at not being able to freeze glass!! I should of known that. Looks like I will need to invest in some plastic containers before I start making my own stuff. Sara - where do you get these take and toss containers from and how much are they?
Sacha - thats a great way to freeze the baby food! My freezer is always so full so it will be better with space. Avaleigh is not too keen on fruit either but today I made my own apple and added more water to make it more runny and she seemed to have liked that.
Floss - yes I mash up the banana, I try to mash it as much as possible. Avaleigh likes it but not as much at sweetcorn and pumpkin. OH at the 41 degrees on NYE.. it got to 45 here on Christmas day! Its meant to be hot her as well on NYE and day but i'll probably be spending most of the time in the pool. Hopefully with not too much of a hang over... I have bought Avaleigh the swimming nappies, I never even thought about normal nappies but there would just soak in too much water.
I put up photos from my wedding on to the BB gallery for those that dont have facebook!
-
V - your photos are all beautiful. Avaleigh has such a sweet yet slightly cheeky look lol! Is that outfit she has on one from Target with sparkles and butterflies embroidered? It looks like the one Autie wore to her christening - there's a photo in my gallery. It's so gorgeous.
I know Woolies have the take and toss - they are clear but coloured and probably don't look like something you can throw away.
-
Sacha, How did you get Auties photo to look like that? I am thinking of getting a photo program to do all those kinds of things to photots. I think they are expesnive though.
I just checked out the pic, and Kaetlyn has the same outfit!!! its so cute and everyone loves when she wears it. Except some of the frilly bits are freying
V- I got mine from big W, but have seen them at coles. I also got some happy baby food trays, it was 14$ for 3 trays, and they have lids on them. As someone said- sorry cant remember, make them up, freeze them in the tray then transfer to another container.
I am planning on making Kaetlyns veges, as they are so simple and for $3 worth of sweetpotato you can make more than $3 worth of jar food. And it will be easier to mix and match, like, pick a cube of sweet pot, one of carrot, one of zuchini etc. I cant wait! I love cooking, so will see what I can come up with!
I have a food steamer, so I can just put it all in and leave it, then come back and mash! Oh bring on 6 months... maybe i might start now so I have a stock pile???
Floss, I got one of those reuasble swimmer nappies from big W (okay yes I am addiceted to that store)! I think the idea is that it catches the poops, and let the wee's escape.
Hehehe we found a problem with them today though! We put Kaetlyn in her pool with her swim nappy on, and her all in one bathing suit, when she got out, we were inside and Aaron wanted to see what the nappy looked like, so he took of her bathers. The just let her stand on his chest and what'll you know? She pee'd on him!! It cam right through the nappy (out the sides) all over him  I was in hysterics, cause she has never pee'd on me, but pee'd on him like 5 times now!! So to cut a long story short, the pee still escapes, as there is nothing to absorb it.
Well have a good night everyone and will chat in the morning!!
-
Sara, we have a Canon Powershot camera with lots of interesting little functions. With that one, you point it at a particular thing (in this case, it was the red) and it captures that colour and then when you take the photo, it leaves everything else in black and white. It's a great effect and I don't have to muck about with any programs afterward. I'm sure there would be other ways to do it with a program though. Good luck.
LOL I know that feeling when you can't wait to try things! Go for it now and you might be able to hold yourself back from actually giving it to her. I was going to buy those trays too, but in the end I just put the ice tray inside a zip lock bag so the food doesn't get freezer nasties - like you, I couldn't wait and had to start cooking and freezing RIGHT THEN!
Aahh Big W - is there any place better? Love it.
PSML at the pee episode! Autie has only ever peed twice and it was on DH! Now, whenever he takes a nappy off to change, he puts down 'the line of defence' (a tissue over her tiny giny) until he gets the next one on.
-
Sacha, love the name Tiny Giny!! My little girl has just started calling hers bay bay???? Still trying to figure out why, but it is cute.
-
Bay bay?! Haven't heard that one before! So funny how they come up with their own names. My niece used to call hers tutu and no-one ever figured that out. I can't take credit for tiny giny - that's what SIL calls her daughter's and it's just caught on in our family. I will probably make sure I tell Autumn it's her vagina though, as well as whatever cute name she wants for it.

Sacha - Tom doesnt realsie his name is Tom either. He thinks it is Monkey Boy (from Daddy) or Rat Face (from me). We only realised the other day.
I am loving all the discussions on food and swim nappies! We are going on holidays in Jan to the beach and just purchased a rash vest and bottoms off Bump Baby and Beyond (Yay to who ever mentioned it on here. I love it). That will be fine for the beach but wanted something else for the pool.
I gave Tom some food yesterday - just rice cereal - he looked at me like i was trying to poison him. Once he gets the hang of it, i will try him on other things. At the moment have just brought some jars of food - once we are in the new house i cant wait to start making my own stuff. It does work out so much cheaper. My MCHN said to treat the baby food in jars like take-away food for when you are out and about, and make your own stuff for a home. It is exciting being able to cook for someone - DH is such a sook about food - meat and potatoes, carrot and pumpkin if i am lucky! I love vegies and fruit so it will be nice to have someone to share with!
Better be off - i have something in my eye and it is killing! Going to try to take my contact lense out if i can keep my eye open long enough!

Hello all
I have been MIA as DH is home atm so we have been busy and Jesse has raked his hands across the keyboard of my lap top and has pulled a heaps of key pads off so it is making it very hard to type. It will be easily fixed but just means it takes about ten times as long to type!!
I have been trying to keep upwith everything but doing personals seems very daunting LOL!!
Sounds like everyone had a great Christmas and I have also joined the fisher price gang!! OMG the toys the kids were given is ridiculous. I said toDH that I want to moderate the amount from now on but I am not sure how to do that without offending people. Just before Christmas we made Oliver pick a few toys he no longer used (plus some we picked) and he took them to an outreach centre who were making up Christmas packs for underpriviledged kids so we will do that each year at Christmas time from now on and hopefully it teaches them that there are lots of people out there who dont have very much but they still got way too much.
Charlotte is going well. She started on solids theday before Christmas and is going OK with that- isnt loving it but isnt hating it either. She has started waking up once anight again andI have been giving her a quick feed in bed and then puttingher back in her cot and she goes back to sleep for the rest of the night. I do all of this in about ten minutes so its not like I am up for agesbut I would rather not be up at all LOL!! ALthough in saying that Jesse has been a bit of a blighter lately with his sleeping so I would probably be up anyway.
I prmise assoon as my keyboard is fixed I will do some personals.
V -your photos are beautiful - you look amazing
mel and sacha - love the names - tiny giny and bay bay -so cute!
Em and Flossie - i got a swimming nappy for charlotte off a girl on BB who sells them. Her username is Kimbaz I think but I will try and find the details for her website as I am really happy with the nappy as I just wash it out after each use and it is really cutee as well. I am pretty sure Mel got some as well so she might remember the website details.
Hi to everyone.
Take care
Jem

Was just thinking about you today Jem. Glad all is well, how is your foot and Jesse's head going?
And what a wonderful idea with the old toys. I might start to do the same.

Hi Mel
hows it going having Luke home? Have you got him working to make up for his time away LOL?
My foot is pretty good at the moment thanks for asking - still a bit swollen and bruised but pretty good and Jesses head is OK. He had the staples taken out last Thursday which didnt impress him very much and thankfully it is at the back of his head (cause it still looks a bit gross) so the scar wont be noticeable until he is an old man and going bald.

just a quicky as I am about to sit down to a yummy seafood platter of prawns, whiting and squid caught (the whiting and squid) and cooked by DH!! I have just added the latest photo of Charlotte into the BB gallery for anyone who is interested.
