oh megan76 i feel for you... I too tried doing that cos it worked so well for a friend of mine but we ended up the same as you two! We were both crying and I decided it wasn't worth it :) I think some babies are ok to get a bit cranky but then they settle down and go to sleep, but some (like ours) just get more upset and then nothing will calm tham.
Don't feel bad! We all try things to see if it will work ;) its all such a guessing game!
Does anyone else think the last 6 months has gone super fast? I can't believe it! Our babies turn one this year!!!!:D OMG !!!!
Take care everyone!
xox
-
Thanks Nay23. Its only the 2nd time i have tried controlled crying and it worked the first time, but obviously a disaster the next! I think i just made a bad judgement call...oh well you win some and lose many!! The last 6 months has definately flown, but when i think back to the first 6 weeks of motherhood, that went pretty slow!!
Very quiet in here today....everyone else must have more exciting lives than me...ha ha
-
well, was logging on to finally get around to some personals, but true to form, my attention is being called elsewhere. This kid of mine is refusing to go to sleep at the moment, doing my head in a bit. Megan, I think you've done well to even try controlled crying, I can't bear it.
if he's still giving me grief once MIL has gone I might have a go, but just now I can't cos I don't cope when I have an audience for his performance. here's a message to you all from himself
uhknnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
hmm, might have just uncovered the source of his waking ;) - popping off to see if a nappy change helps him settle, once the gurglings have stopped.
If I'm lucky, will BBL tonight, if not, then hopefully tomorrow. In the meantime, a big hello to you all.
-
Megan I do that to Autie now and then when i think she hasn't slept enough - did it today in fact! So horrid but you just know they're still tired when they wake crying. I always know when she's had enough when she wakes and I hear her on the monitor 'talking' to Johnson, her elephant. Don't feel bad, I've been doing a useless half-hearted version of CC for a couple of months now! I've decided that I'll come down real firm and do it properly when she's a bit older.
-
Hi all,
Thanks Tracey, the weekend just gone a lot of boobie was offered because he's not feeling too well, and wasn't sleeping well, and I even had to get up at 3am this morning to express 'cause I as soo full. plus then fed him around the same time, where he had a really long feed, so much so he slept in till 7.30 when I woke him and wasn't interested in much more food then. Once at work I got about 100 ml's more than what I was getting last week.
glad that nasty piece of work is on another site now.
V, you must have one clever little cookie there, maye she is clever like her daddy and can't sit still like her mummy :P
Sacha, how cute, he survived. Now you can go out all the time.
Nicki, it sounds like you guys are really going well now. You can tell that he is your pride and joy. And I'm sure you will enjoy every word he says until he says no!
Megan, no seperation anxiety here, but xaver is one of the youngest. I'm hoping that we might avoid that and that he will be so used to the child care people he won't make a fuss. I don't mind if he clings to me on the weekends though, 'cause I miss my little man.
don't beat yourself up over the crying. xavier has what I call a point of no return cry. If that's the cry, i don't even bother trying to settle him.
Floss, I don't know about the others but I am personally finding this solid food things rather confusing trying to work out exactly how much and when to increase. I guess he will tell me if he's still hungry huh?
Zofia, I know there are natural things I could probably try to help me, but I really can't stand them. All I really want is a decongestant  but I'm not that bad. The best we have been able to do for xavier is panadol and a nasal asperator, aka snot sucker. It's kind of too hot here for steam and I have no where to put vicks as it can't touch his skin and i'm minimising clothing sheets blankets etc.
Well I went back to work again this week, Xavier was really snotty this morning, getting to be really runny snot so I'm hoping he's getting better. I was secretly hoping that they would call me and say he's too sick could you come and get him. But alas no I didn't get a phone call. Well it's getting late and I have bottles and a pump to clean before I get Xavier up for his dream feed.
Catch ya's
-
Awesome Bec, that your getting plenty of milk for him... expressing is easy if it just flows out nicelyzy started waking at 3am, so I am gonna say it's a growth spurt... If he keeps growing like this I'll need a wheelbarrow to push him inI got this week off before starting my new /old role next week 3-8...5 hours YAY!
OK BBL, Zy'hit his head on the floorboards!
-
Man it's muggy here today :( I'm curious to know what you're all doing routine wise now we're at the six month mark if you can be bothered.
-
Sacha - i dont have a major routine but our day looks a bit like this....
7- 7.30 - wake & bottle
half hour later - cereal
After about an hour and a half wake time bed - sleeps anywhere from half hour to hour and a half
bottle between 11- 11.30
bed again after about hour and a half to two hours.......same period of sleep (who knows!!)
another bottle around 3 - 3.30, then another sleep, usually the shortest of the day
vegies between 5.30 - 6
then bath/shower
last bottle at 7pm and straight to bed usually by 7.30
Probably not useful cos his sleep is so erratic i cant have regular sleep times. The rest of the time in between is play time of course!! I must say the whole food/shower/bottle/bed part of the routine is working a treat as he is brilliant at night, and sleeps 12-13 hours!! I cross my fingers teething doesn't throw it out the window! I saw the maternal nurse yesterday and she said i can do food beore bottle and give him lunch as well so the whole routine will be changing again!
Hope this helps!!
-
hi everyone Ive started solids too and it seems that when he has solids in the evening- at about 6.30- he wakes up more at night instead of just once he woke up 4 times in one night twice for feeds and twice I just settled him back down. Ive only given him carrot so do you think that is what it is? Im going to try sweet potato tonight and see how I go. Does anyone else have this problem? He doesn't seem uncomfortable when he wakes...hes just awake :)
Sascha i don't have a routine generally I just go with whatever DS wants to do
A friend of mine said to give DS a milk arowroot (i know thats not how you spell it but I can't figure it out :D) has anyone else tried this... should I wait untill he has thicker solids? I worry he will choke!
Thanks guys
Take care

Hey Guys!!
My routine is like this..
7am wake up and feed straight away
we then go for a walk with the dogs and if I am lucky, she will sleep then. We are then at the gym at 9am so she doesnt really sleep! Is normally asleep on the way home and if I am lucky (like today) She will sleep when we get home at 10.30
11am milk and then some pureed fruit
we have a play after that and I try to get Avaleigh in bed by 1pm so she can have a sleep before next feed, doesnt always happen tho!
2pm milk
play and then try to get some sleep in before next feed
5pm vegies and milk
7.30pm bath
7.45-8pm feed and then straight in to bed by 8.30pm
I would like to get Avaleigh into bed earlier than 8.30pm but cause I go to the gym about 3 times in the evening its a bit difficult cause I have no milk on hand for Jason.
Are most babies really happy to go to bed in the middle of the day? Avaleigh hates it. She will cry and cry even though she is tired. I have needed to rock her to sleep the last few days..
Nay - hmmm @ the arowroot biscuit! I wouldnt give Avaleigh something like that at this age but I guess every one is different. I have been giving Avaleigh a peice of apple and she does bite chunks out but she normally spits them out cause she doesnt quite know what to do yet. How much vegies do you give and do you give milk too? I give Avaleigh quite a feed for her dinner feed. Probably more than what I should be she eats it all!! And Avaleigh wakes during the night, not for a feed tho. Its normally around 4 or 5am and she has wedged herself up in the corner of her cot! So I need to go in there and pull her back down. Its soooooooo annying and if I dont go in I can hear her whimpering on the baby monitor.
-
Well ladies, back in Brissy. Not a good trip home. DH and I had a big fight. Still not talking, he had another go at me twice today, so I'm not really interested in trying to talk to him anymore. I'm so tired on his moods towards me and the kids, especially since he has been back from Japan. So tempted to leave for a few days. Maybe, I need to see my Doc about depression, and maybe I need to get physical again, to get my indorphines pumping again. Or maybe he is just a a55hole ;). Anyway, apart from that we had a good time in Sydney. It was great to family again.
I plan on reading back what has been going on since I have been away, until then, take care all. And remember don't take crap from anyone :).
xx

Hi all,
Tracey that is really crazy that Zy is waking at 3 am because xavier has been doing that almost like clockwork the last few days. Yay for a week off, and great working hours too.
Sascha we have little to no routine. But it's kinda like this
wake/feed around 7am
Go to childcare by 8.30
This part of the day is hit and miss but he feeds approx 4 hourly and hardly sleeps for them but on weekends I only keep him awake for about 2 hours at a time
Pick up from child care at 5.30
come home, either have baby rice or boobie around 5.30 6 depending on last time he ate at cc, sometimes they get switched around.
rice is always followed by a shower or bath as we all get sticky  then we have some quite time cuddles and off to bed hopefully by about 7-730.
I then dream feed him at around 9.30-10pm in the vain hope of getting a good nights sleep yet at the moment it doesn't seem to matter what I do he wakes at 3am for a feed.
Nay I would hold off on the biscuits as long as you can. bubs love the milk arrowroot and marie biscuits and I know they have kept my sister sane on many an occasion but I say wait until it's your last resort 'cause the do still have sugar in them. Besides one day you will turn your back and nana will probably have already handed one over without your consent.
V, how many times do you go to the gym?? did I count right 4 times a day. Slow down!!
Well we do nothing exciting here, Xavier is still happy to have some baby rice each night. We won't be switching to vegies until he hits 6 months and will merge into the multiple meals per day slowly. I have to say starting solids would be a whole lot easier if I wasn't working. I'm so tired by the end of work and he's grizzly it's quite exhausting. Mum suggested asking them to give him some at child care in the arvos but I wan't to wait until we have something more established, otherwise it will be difficult for me to know what he likes. Once he is on 2 meals a day I will probably tell them that if he seems unsatisfied at lunch when the other kids are eating he can have some apple or something that he would have already tried.
Well gotta go and start the never ending prep for tomorrow. I'm already doing the can't wait till the weekend countdowns.
-
Oh Mel, i hope you're ok! XX
-
Hugs Mel. Hope you and your DH work things out. Its so frustrating when men acts like kids, isn't it?
Rebecca - I hope you're not getting too exhausted being back at work full time. Must be hard for you. I had an interview yesterday for a 3 day a week job, and even though the job sounds fantastic I almost hope that I don't get it, as I don't like the idea of being away from Diana for so long. I guess I'll cross that bridge if and when I come to it. The extra money would be good though.
RE routine - we don't really have one. Diana is demand fed and not the best day sleeper, but here goes:
about 5:30am - dream feed
about 7:30 - 8:00am - wake up, another breasfeed
playtime
about 11:00am - pureed fruit
playtime
about 11:30am - breastfeed
1 hour sleep (if we're lucky)
about 2:00pm - breastfeed
playtime
about 5:00pm - solids - fruit or veg
playtime or nap
6:00pm - breastfeed
6:30pm - bath
playtime
breastfeed
about 8:30pm - sleep
about 11pm - 12am - dreamfeed
-
LOL Rebecca.. I guess I worded that wrong! I got to the gym 3 times during the week in the evenings. So I go Monday, Tuiesday and Wednesday evening. I do go during the day too on those days  hehe nothing else to do!!
-
Bec, I am guessing it's just a milestone/growth spurt.. Although if Sumo keeps having growth spurts he'll have to carry me around!
I only give Zy some stewed fruit around 10/11ish & then some farex & pureed veg at about 7pm...
It hasnt helped him go back to sleeping thorugh, but he's a pig & would have been feeding 10 times a day...
Last night however he fed at 8:30 & went to bed & woke at about 5am for a dummy & went back to sleep... I can handle that!
OOOOh mel, I hope all smoothes over with your Dh soon!
I dont have a routine, I demand feed & he demands alot!
Maybe next week once I am back at work I will get into some routine more so?!
-
Hi ladies
hope you and you bubba's are all well. Just popping in quickly on my way to bed.
Im sooo over packing!!! I want a magic wand:lol:
Ethan had his needles today and has been feverish since an hour after, and has a slight rash where he had them, it didnt happen last time though.
Mel my DH has just left to go back to work, we had a huge fight too and didnt talk for awhile, maybe we should disappear some where together,(a luxury island with lots of wine! lol) Hope things get better hun.
OK i will try to pop in for some personals tomorrow but for now im off to bed.
Goodnight:)
-
Hope everyone has been well, I've been trying to catch up by reading more than writing lately! Sacha, our day is something like
8am - wake feed (bottle) back to bed
10.00 - wake feed bath play+nap etc throughout day
5pm - vegie dinner+drink milk or water
7-8pm - feed+bed
Nay, arrowroot biccy's sound nice. Maybe your friend meant just to suck on though and you would need to watch him. What is Linkolns corrected age now?
Seems like a few mums are back to work. I'm back to uni this year and looking forward to it as it's my last year. Have been recommended by a friend for a part time position at a highschool, but I dont think I'll be looking at working until next year. I can't bear the thought of not being there for DS just yet, and besides the job was at my old highschool and I couldnt wait to get out of there, so wont be rushing back anytime soon...LOL
-
Jessikah, just name that island and I'll be there.:)
-
August Moon Mum - how are you finding Lucas only having 4 meals a day? I'm thinking of maybe slowly dropping Avaleigh's 2pm feed as she doesnt really feed much at this time. At the moment I am just giving her some to keep her going until her dinner time.
Mel - I hope that things with your DH are OK. I hate fighting with Jason. We dont have arguements too often, if we do, we get over them fairly quickly.
Jessikah - I hope that Ethan is better today after his shots. Its strange how he got this reaction this time and not the other times.
My femail dog isnt too happy with me this morning!! I normally go for a slow walk with the two walks and then leave the male at home (he has arthritis) and then me and the female go out for a run but last night I walked into Jason's dive bag and I really really hurt my toes. They are all black and blue and swollen :( So I only took them out for a small slow walk and now the female is whinging and doesnt understand why we cant go out again!
I've got a friends fancy dress party next weekend. We're not too sure what to go as but are thinking at the moment to go as Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter. Or we might got as pirates.. I am going to call up a fancy dress store and see if they have a mad hatter costume, if not, its pirates!! Should be a bit of fun. Not su re whether to bring Avaleigh or leave her with mum. We will probably bring her with us..
Avaleigh has woken up at 6am the past few mornings, but thats alright cause I am awake then anyways. I think maybe next time she wakes that early I will feed her and go for a walk and then have breakfast afterwards so then maybe she will sleep for a little while before the gym. I have her in bed at the moment trying to get her to sleep but she is more interested in tying to crawl!
-
Hi girls! Well i am back and there is so much to catch up on. First of all, i would like to say Jess and Mel can i come to the island too? It sounds lovely!
Moving went well - really really hate unpacking but love the new house. It has a big entertaining area so lots of bbq's for us lately which has given me a break from cooking. we just got back from a family holiday (by family i mean ALL the rellies - about 20 adults and 10 kids - madness) at a holiday house in Queenscliff. It was really fun. I think i wrecked my pram by taking T for walks along the beach in it - lots of sand in the brake. I took him swimming but he didnt really get what was going on!
We have a strange couple of weeks with Tom - he has been really unsettled. I think its got a lot to do with moving house and DH being home, plus christmas and our holiday. Going to spend the next few weeks trying to get things back in order. It sounds like a few of the bubs are going thru this - maybe its a bit of thing around this age.
Tom still hates hates hates food :( . It is battle everyday to try and get some into him. I have tried every food known to man - freshly made with mummy's tender loving care and the tinned stuff. Hates both. He also wants to do it himself so i let him hold the spoon, but we really arent getting anywhere with it. He knows what to do because my sister fed him spaghetti sauce while we were on holidays. She called me in and said look what he is doing. He was opening his mouth and wnating more off her. Anything else he just clamps his lips shut and turns his head. The only thing i have had luck with is putting fruit, like watermelon and pear, into his fresh-food feeder and he just goes crazy for it. But he still wont eat pear or watermelon off the spoon.. Today i thinking i might put a half-thawed cube of mashed pumpkin that i have made into it and see if he will suck it out and get the taste for it.. Cant hurt i guess. Nothing else has worked! I am really jealous of all you girls talking about 3 meals a day etc!
We have got our 6 month check up today (6 months tomorrow) so i am really interested to see how much he has grown. Be back later to let you know how we went!
Oh by the way on the subject of the Milk Arrowroot biccies - i asked my sister and she said she used them instead of teething rusks as her kids didnt seem to like rusks and found the biscuit easier to hold. They dont really crumble and the baby can just suck on them. I gave T one yesterday and he had a good suck on it. His teeth have been bothering him lately. I just wish they would come thru!
-
I think the Milk arrowroot/teething rusk thing is similar however a biscuit is full of fat & sugar a teething rusk isnt!!!
So I'd stick to the teething rusk for now they got plenty of years for sugars & fats!?
-
I have been giving Oscar teething rusks.... only to "gnaw" on though because of his teeth... maybe given them a try?!? They're cheap too!
Ok... I have a question about starting solids! I started Oscar yesterday on Farex and I just mix it with some of his bottle. He knows how to swallow (he has swallowed his Farex a number of times) but most of the time he just turns his head!! I am just wondering how long did it take your bubs to "get used to it". I know it is not going to happen over night but I guess I am just looking for an indication!
BBL for personals ;)
-
Um not sure who asked what but i will try answer some stuff...
- Lucas loves rusks, they keep him entertained and help with teething i think, he never gets any big bits they just go mushy and cause a big MESS
- I didn't start him on solids till 6 months and he just got straight into it....he definately lets me know when he is done though! The little bugger has a mouthful of food then sucks on his high chair and again it causes a big MESS
- He is only on 4 bottles and 2 solids and even the 4 bottles atm is a battle, thinking of dropping one but not really sure how it will work. The health nurse said they only need 600-700mls per day
Em - good to have you back! i am sure Tom is just unsettled from the move and the busy time you have had! What a bummer about the food, i bet you one day he will just click and go hey this isn't too bad after all!
Lucas is 8.5 kgs now the porker!
Just a question, how much sleep is everyone getting out of their cherubs during the day??
-
Megan - I am lucky to get up to 2 hours during the day with Avaleigh!! I have her in bed at the moment but she is up on her hands and knees trying to crawl!! AHH I hope she will wear herself out soon and go to sleep. She isnt crying or anything so I will keep her in her cot.
Dani - I only tried Farex with Avaleigh once or twice and then go in to the good stuff. She wasnt a fan of it and I cant blame her! Have you tried that stuff??!
I've been giving Avaleigh the rusks and they sure do make a mess hey!! I also gave her a little try of avocado because I had some for lunch and she hates it LOL Wont be trying that one again..
oh woohoo! I think my little girl has gone to sleep..nope! just checked and she is still awake but slowly getting there
-
Ok my little man is 7.35 kg and 68.5cm's long. I cant believe that it wasnt that long ago that he was 48cm and 2.7kg! 6 months goes quick..
Megan - Tom's sleeps during the day are normally 2-2and a half for morning sleep then afternoon nap is normally 1and half to 2 hours. Occasionally if he is having a grumpy day, i put him down for a quick nap late afternoon, only 20 mins or so. It seems to refresh him for his bath time.
My MCHN today suggested that you can try the bubs on Cruskits biscuits as they just disolve in the mouth and have a rough texture that they like to play around with. She wasnt too concerned with T not wanting to food - she said he sounds like one of those babies that wont be interested until he can do it himself. DH will say stubborn like his mother..
-
thanks everyone about the biscuits :) i think i will wait a while cos he loves the rusks!
august_moon_mum Links corrected age is 4 months 1 week but hes pretty much on par with all the 6 month babies i know :) clever little munchkin
Has anyone elses bub started coughing for attention? I think someone was talking about it. Link used to squeal to get our attention but now he has started this hacking cough it sounds terrible. When i was at the shops today he was in his pram doing it, he sounded like he was choaking and I look like a bad mum for ignoring it but hes ok hes just learning that he can do it!
Megan- Link only sleeps maybe 1 1/2 hours if im lucky during the day in 40 min blocks but he seems ok with that so I go with the flow lol
Mel- :hugs: keep smiling good luck with your DH i hope things settle down soon
xox
Take care everyone

Thanks for your routine info guys. It's interesting to see the similarities and differences.
Mel -:hugs: it must be stressful going on holidays with two young ones, even if you are having a good time. We should do that get-together we all talked about a while back.
Arrowroots - should be ok choking wise if sucked on, I wouldn't yet just because of the ingredients but that's a personal choice.
V - Autie is also working hard on the crawl. She's managed one or two forward movements, but it's mostly all backward atm :) Tonight she couldn't stop herself practising in bed and it took ages to get her to sleep even though she was tired.
Em - Bad luck about the pram but at least you're doing some exercise unlike a certain lazy a** I know... L All those changes to normality are sure to have affected Tom so don't stress over him being unsettled - you'll soon get things going I'm sure. My niece, now 13m, didn't really start taking solids until she was about 10m and went straight into finger food and normal dinners etc. I understand it can be quite common, especially in BF babies. how'd you go with the pumpsicle? L
Danielle- Rice cereal is so bland I don't blame them for not being really into it. Having said that, I like the Rafferty's brand as it seems to have more texture. I gave it to Autie as her first food but I soon switched to vegies. When I give it to her now, I mix something (anything!) in with it for flavour. Autie loved food from the get-go so can't really help with how long it will take...sorry.
Megan - I only get about 2- 21/2 hours out of Autie during the day most days, in three naps. Wow, on the 8.5kg! There's so many of you 8+kg babies! Autumn is only 7.2 and she was 4.5 born! She still has rolls though -hope she's not the short, chubby kind like her mum LOL
Nay - Yes! Autie started a very fake cough in the last week or so. We call it her Zoolander cough (I think I got the black lung pop) I had the doctor check her chest when we got her needles done but it was fine as we knew it would be. Hilarious though.
For anyone interested, one of the moderators (can't remember which sorry) recommended a book called 'the science of parenting' and I borrowed it from thelibrary yesterday. It is a really interesting approach based on the chemical/ hormonal goings-on in children and babies brains and deals with how parenting should respond in all kinds of situations based on what's happening in their brain at that time. Easy to read too.
-
Ok... I'm just about off to bed so I promise I will do personals tomorrow ;)
Just a quick update on our appointment on Monday. The specialists seem to think that Oscar won't need a helmet and that his head should "come good". However, if it doesn't they will refer us to a private practice and we can go from there and get a helmet.
Anyway... I'm just about exhausted so I'll be back tomorrow to chat!
Night

Hi ladies:)
That is great news dani:) RE the solids question: Ethan never liked Farex, so i started him on 2 teaspoons of sweet potato he was 4 months and he did really well. Ethan hasnt had solids for a week now though, i have offered but he just doesn't want it:)
Sacha- ethans routine goes out the window every two weeks, as dh comes home from work and wont stick to a routine with ethan, so atm (dh has just left) no routine. We are try to get back on track again now!
Nay- ethan used to cough for attention now he just does it when he's playing, he's taken to yelling and squealing to get my attention, bossy little thing, lol i can just imagine the teenage years:lol:
Megan- ethan only sleeps for about 2hrs during the day, around 10am he will have an hour and again around 3pm i would like him to sleep a bit more as he gets grizzly and tired after 2-2 1/2hrs but just wont sleep!
Veronica- I tried ethan with avacado 2 weeks ago and he hates it too! Dh cant stand it but i love it.
Em- Glad the move went well and that your loving the new place. I cant wait till moving day, im so sick of packing:wall: Your family holiday sounded great btw!
Well Ethan is all better, fever has gone and so has the rash, he was left with a little bruise on each leg though:cry: Spent the day packing again! You would think when your packing the house would look tidier as everythings being boxed up, but man it looks like someone ransacked the place today!! Ok, i can hear the master calling so will pop back tomorrow, hopefully.
Good night:)
-
Danni, Thats great about Oscar's head & as he gets older he'll spend less time laying on his back/side whatever spot is flat, so that must have been relieving words.. Although I'm sure you'd have coped wonderfully!
I'm hoping to get Zy weighed soon... I'd say he'close to 9kgs now...
I rearranged all of his baby clothes out & his 0 & 1's into the cuopborad & I cannot find an expensive T-shirt I bought to go with a matching pair of pants & I am soannoyed & hope I didnt put it in with all the newborn stuff I passed on to friends... I'm gonan have to look through all the kids clothes & under beds etc before asking the friends if they happen to have it!
We are off for a walk soon & then out for lunch (trying to squeeze in some fun things before I go back to work)
OOOh I feel bad too as i got paid today for last week 5 days doing 8-12 & it was just under $600... I feel like a sook! Oh well atleast I'll have my old role back on Monday!!!
-
Morning!
First of all i just have to say, don't you love it when you find shoes you forgot you had, then you feel like you have a brand new pair all over again...he he
Thanks for all the answers about day sleeping, sounds like all the babies are pretty similar (except Em Tom is a bit of a legend in that department!!). Its funny though in all the material you get it says babies of about this age have 2 sleeps of around 2 hours each, but in reality most dont, i think they should actually talk to mums before printing anything!!
Well we are off for our needles today, i had to get up at 7am (yuk!) and get organised cos Lucas wont have time for a sleep before we go and i cant get anything done when he's up! He has taken to sleeping in till about 8.30am this week (love it!) but i am going to have to wake him soon and it breaks my heart!!
Well will BBL to catch up!!
-
:clap:HAPPY SIX MONTHS TO TOM!!!
I cant believe that 6 months ago today at was the hospital getting ready to have a needle stuck in my back, excited about meeting my little man!! What i didnt expect was how hard, fun, challenging, amazing it would all turn out to be!
Good luck with Lucas' needles today Megan. I normally make DH come along to hold Tom but we were away when the session was on, so i will have to be a brave girl and take him along to the doctors by myself.
Better go - someone is in his bed singing away with his music box. I am going to go video it so i can bring it out at his 21st, along with all the nuddie pics and laugh at him.

Hey everyone,
I feel the need to apologise, because I?m finding it really difficult to find the time to do personals lately. Liam has started being really difficult in the evening, which is when I?ve normally had a bit of time to myself, and during the day I?ve got Liam & MIL to deal with. But have a quiet moment now, so here goes with a few:
Megan ? I?m with you on finding shoes that have been forgotten, same goes for tshirts for me too, just feels like a bit of a bonus. So does realizing that I can fit into pre-pregnancy clothes. Good luck with Lucas? needles today, hope he gets through them without a reaction.
Tracey ? bummer about the t-shirt, hope it reappears quickly for you. It?s great news about getting your old role back, and even better to hear that your old boss has moved.
Jessikah ? having Ethan?s routines disrupted every couple of weeks must make it very challenging for you. Dad?s mean well I think, but unless they look after them 24x7, I think that they don?t get the whole routine thing, cos often they don?t have to deal with the really difficult times in the way that Mum?s do.
Danni ? great news about oscar?s head. It?s amazing what we can cope with if we have to, but it?s pretty nice to not have to cope sometimes.
Mel ? hope things are improving with DH.
Well, after saying that it was too hard to cope with, Pat & I have taken the plunge with controlled crying, cos Liam has been putting on too much of a performance at night, yelling his head off even when I?m holding him until 10pm, which just isn?t on. The clincher came when I had Liam bawling, and I could hear MIL also bawling her eyes out cos Liam was bawling, which just p?d me off in more ways than I can mention. So, I pulled out Baby Love, made Pat read the ?teaching to sleep? section, which made him believe me that it was a good thing to do. The 1st night Liam screamed until 11, but just as I was about to give in he went to sleep, and slept until around 6.30, which was the 4th time he?s slept through ever. The 2nd night he yelled, very unconvincingly, for around 40 minutes, then was asleep by around 9.30, woke at 7am (so sleep through number 5), then last night yelled for around an hour, was asleep by about 8.45, woke at 7.15. So starting to feel like I have a pattern going, and it?s a pattern I really like (except for the leaking bbs in the morning). We also made MIL read the Baby love book, and then reinforce that Liam isn?t crying because he?s unwell, which has made it easier for me to cope with it all, cos she?s not putting on a performance at the same time. The only thing that I don?t do much of is going in to let him know that he hasn?t been abandoned, as that seems to make him cry more. It?s hard, but then when he wakes in the morning after a long sleep he?s been really happy, so I think I?m not doing major emotional damage by getting him to work it out for himself. At least I hope so.
Anyway, that?s all a bit me-me-me, but I?m pretty happy, so kind of wanted to share.

weird gremlins in that post - all my apostrophe's have turned into question marks, and the ticker is gone, in fact lot's of peoples tickers are missing...

Megan - re sleeping - yesterday Diana slept for 10-15 mins max during the day! Most day I am lucky if she gets a 1 hour nap in. Usually she sleeps for 30 - 40 mins once during the day. I have no idea if this is normal. It's exhausting running after the Energizer Baby.

Good Morning everyone!!
I dont have anywhere to be this morning so I thought I would take the time and have a coffee and jump on here while Avaleigh falls asleep and then I am going to have a swim in the pool. Yesterday success of getting her to sleep in the morning isnt quite working today!! She had a lil nap while on our walk but is in her cot and not crying so I will just leave her alone and fingers crossed she will fall asleep.
Jan - thats good to hear that controlled crying is working for you and YAY for the sleep throughs! Those leaking boobs will soon stop. I have tried the controlled crying but I give in so easily when Avaleigh gets hysterical. We have no problems at night, its normally during the day that we have a problem.
uh oh Avaleigh is crying.. better go investigate. She's probably gotten her legs stuck!
LOL Avaleigh was stuck in the corner up on all fours. I HATE it now that she is getting up on all fours and rolling around. She gets me up 3 times during the nightbecause she had gotten herself stuck. I sometimes wish I could just strap her in so she doesnt move. AHHH crying again!!
Happy 6 months tom!! Time has just flown by hey. I said to Jason last night that Avaleigh will be 6 months soon and that we are going to have a lil party for her. :)
Megan - Yeh you have got to wonder where those books get all their information from!! Avaleigh never slept the amount of hours babies are meant to when they are first born.
Dani - thats get to hear about Oscar's head!
It was soo funny last night. Avaleigh has up on her hands and knees trying to crawl and she had her head down looking at her knees while trying to move them. She managed to move her knees but couldnt work out her arm! Oh boy, she is going to be crawling soon. Better baby proof the house!! She also took a few walking steps last night too while Jason was holding her by her hands. I wonder what will be first - walking or crawling?!?!

God girls - i hear you on the moving around the cot. T is driving me nuts - he spent his first 45 mins of his sleep this morning rolling over and inching his way up the cot to play with his monitor. I told him i was going to have to sticky tape him to his matress. The other night he was asleep with his back resting against the headboard of the cot and his legs hooked thru the bars. Very weird.
Jan - we did our version of controled crying on Tom too - sounds very similar to yours. It was definately hard but worth it in the end - especially at this age where they are starting to pick up on things, like coughing for attention etc. It seems a bit easier now to tell the difference between the cries - hungry, tired, dirty nappy and just plain old 'come and pick me up - i want to play'.I sometimes sit in his roon out of his line of sight just make sure there is nothing really wrong and i'm not in the next room panicking that his head is stuck in the bars or something! I had MIL make a few comments regarding the crying like when he got up she would say 'come to me, you dont want to go to mummy - your scared of her because she makes you stay in bed' and constantly saying 'maybe he's not tired, thats why he is crying'. Thankgod i only had to put up with this occasionally - not her sobbing in the next room, you poor thing!
