Hi everyone :)
So sorry i have not been around for awhile, ethan's been non stop lately and i have had the flu so busy when ethans awake and sleeping when he's asleep to get rid of it before bub arrives, and been having net problems too.
Any way i am getting very excited only 19 DAYS TO GO!! Woo Hoo  Have had a bit of a show but dr thinks bubs is comfy where he is and i reckon he is going to stay put right till the last minute like ethan. Just mighty uncomfortable now and my stomach is super itchy. My body is having trouble absorbing iron and b12 and my levels are very low so dr has upped my dose of iron and i am having b12 injections every few days, i have one tomorrow then monday then weekly after that and he hopes it sorts it self out once bubs is born. Lacking these is resulting in even more fatigue and the drs worried i may tire too qiuckly during labour, but im sure i can do it!
Ethan is in his big boys bed now too, has been for 11 days, i cried on his first and second night. He is still waking in the night but in the morning he gets up and plays or reads in his room happily, so i just lay in bed a bit longer listening to him through the monitor, he knocks on the door when he wants out :D i usually get his breakfast ready while he plays that way he sits long enough to eat it!
Lis- Hope you had a lovely birthday.
Megan- Very cute! Ethan tells me Shhh at times too, mostly he tells me to sit! As that seems to be what i say constantly, he stands on everything!!
Mel- Thankyou :) How are you and you angels? Glad things are going okay for you while dh is away. Sorry i never got around to replying to your pm. Things have been okay, my mum is feeling alot better and will be having some surgery in march so she is just waiting but still in good spirits. Issues with Dh i have just sort of pushed to the side for now, probably not the best thing but i dont really want to stress about it right now. Not drugs though, which i guess i can be thankful for, Just being too "friendly" with another lady and just being very lazy with ethan and not helping with anything and treating me like poo but yeah, not so sure what to do just not wanting to argue at the moment and try to not let it get to me.
ok i know its not the best post but i get very crampy if i sit too long, so i will leave it here and pop back tomorrow night. Goodnight ladies:)

Just a quick one from to say a huge thankyou to all for your kind words and well wishes.
-
Oh hun, I hope your o.k. I'm only about 45mins-1hr away from you, if you ever feel like a catch up, please contact me 0416055318. I hope everything is going O.K.
Sarah, thanks for the info on the DVD's. And yey on the new teeth, stroller and booster seat.
Jess, wow that time is flying by. Can't wait for things to heat up, so to speak. You must let us know when things get a moving. I think your being very mature about the situation with DH. With your history of preterm labour with this pregnancy, stress is the last thing you need. But I do think you need to address the problem when the time is right, but I'm sure you know this. Men are so different to us girlies, I hope it's something you can work through it, if that's best for you. Because at the end of the day, that is what should matter most to you, because everything will follow after that. I mean what is best for you is best for Ethan and the new bub. I hope things work out. But on a more brighter note, bring on the bubba, I can't wait to hear news, you go girl!!!!
Hi to everyone else.
We have been so busy this week. I have finally caught up from the 2 weeks of TAFE I missed, well almost, just a couple of little things to do, but totally revealed I've been able to do this much.
Having DH away this year has been a lot more stressful than last year, when he was gone for so long. The kids seem to fight about everything ATM, and I mean everything, it really tests my patience, but I sit at night, have a drink (man I love JD), then go down and kiss them both good night, and I seem to be able to forget about all the challenging moments of the day. One day at a time, a very close friend as taught me (you know who you are), one day at a time, and only 15 more to go,
:dance:woooo hoooo:dance:

Hi everyone. I've just eaten dinner cooked for me - a salmon fillet so big I couldn't even get through it, and I love, love, love salmon. I did try though and now I feel a little ill. Wish I still had that instinct kids have to stop when they've had enough.
Sarah, sounds like you have a little explorer on your hands there! I'm glad he hasn't suffered too much from his adventures. Good news about Ryan, must make you all very happy. Bayleigh sounds as though he is talking way more than Autie. She isn't in a big bed yet and I honestly can't say it's coming up any time soon. She moves around way too much in bed and is still so little, I think I will hold off for a while yet.
Megan, great to hear from you. I know what you mean about loud noises during day sleeps. We have a couple of people with very loud cars up the street beside us and I always get irrationally irate when they go past during Autie's sleep time - so far, they don't wake her though so I don't know what I'm stressing for. As for getting Lucas to sleep longer, the only thing I can suggest is making the room as dark as possible and making sure there is continuous music or sound of some sort on. You probably do those anyway. Autie has recovered from her virus, thanks for asking. Now I just have to get her back to sleeping in her own bed all night...
Jess, can't believe how fast time has flown! You're probably at that 'i've had enough' stage huh? How cute is Ethan knocking on the door when he's ready to come out? Hope all your injections work out, lacking Vit B can really knock you around. Big hugs, sad to hear you aren't feeling much love atm. You are doing a great job being a mum but remember to look after you too.
Good on you Mel, for your 'one day at a time' approach. And of course, a little drink definitely helps too huh? LOL Do you think the kids are acting out a bit due to some confusion about DH being away?
Jan, how is your sad, cranky boy? Is he getting some teeth? I get a little girl like that now and then when some new ones are poking through. Hope he is happier today.
Em and Nicky, I took the plunge and bought two nappies! (Big spender I'm not) They haven't arrived yet but I'm excited to try them finally. They are Baby Beehinds AIOs, pink and blue - wish there had been some funky prints to choose from. I'm also thinking now that I might try putting Autie in training pants during the day, not so much to TT, but just to give her a chance to be a bit loose and cool as it's so hot here. I can usually predict the No. 2s - fingers crossed! Also, do I need to wash the nappies numerous times before using them?
Well there's a massive amount of lightning, so maybe it's best if I get off the computer for now. Happy Sunday everyone.
-
Hi girls! I am just jumping on quickly - I have a very sick little boy here. He is in bed now but just cant stop coughing. It is heartbreaking. I just went in and propped him up on some pillows to try and ease the coughing a bit.
Sacha - the more you wash the nappies the more absorbant they will become. The Baby Beehinds sends a fabulous booklet with their stuff that explains what to do first wash. I got my new ones the other day and only washed them once because I am impatient, and they are fine. The new BB are fantastic because you get the extra booster. The only thing is the nappy take ages to dry but you should be pretty right - you are in Qld with much warmer weather than Vic? The best thing I found to do is when it is drying on the line, after a while turn it inside out to dry the inside. So absorbant which is great but takes longer to dry. I also recieved my Happy Heiny as well - so cute in skull and cross bones print - but wasn't super happy with it. When I took it off it left huge red marks on his back and legs even though it definiately wasnt too tight, so I think it might just be one for when all my others are in the wash.
Jess - hope you are well! It was great to hear from you - I was beginning to think you may of had him and didnt have time to get on the computer! How are you feeling about having a newborn in the house? So cute about Ethan going into a big bed. I just couldn't imagine Tom in one yet. There is no way he would stay in it! Hope everything goes ok with your DH. You are doing the right thing - you need to just concentrate on you and your babies at the moment. Anything else can come later. I definiately agree with Mel - boys are just different to us aren't they!
Raels - hope everything is going ok and you are feeling a bit happier. We are always here for you!
Megan - I am so jealous that you got a Santa photo done. I took Tom to Myer last weekend and he was just hysterical when it is was time to sit on Santa's knee. He was quite happy to go over and say hello and Santa gave him a keyring and a hat which he took - but no go on the photo. He was clinging onto me sobbing "Bye Elmo Bye" and waving - his signal for 'time to go now Mummy'. How are Lucas' day sleeps going? What time does he go down? The only thing I can say is I pretty much keep Tom up until he is very tired. He would be happy to go to bed around 10.30am but would mostly likely only have about 1 hour. I just have to kind of distract him and push him through the tired stage. He gets like a second burst of energy, then is buggered by about 11.30-12. He will generally sleep about 2-3 hours most day. Maybe Lucas is just going to be one of those that can function on not much sleep - I am definiately not that kind of person! I love my sleep!
Speaking of sleep.. I might go have a lie down while my boy is in bed. I was awake at 6 listening to him cough although he slept until 8.30am. Hope everyone is well, and very organised for Christmas - which i am not :o
-
Thanks for that Em. I can't wait to get them, I'm hoping they arrive tomorrow. Sorry to hear poor Tom is having a rough time. In case you're interested, there is an ivy leaf extract called Prospan you can get at the chemist that is a natural expectorant. The doctor suggested it for Autie when she had the coughing all night thing. He also says (though it's not on the bottle anywhere) that it has a similar effect to Ventolin in opening the airways a little. I can't say for sure if it was a huge help, but I do think it did a bit of something, and helped me a little to just be able to give her something that might help, if you know what I mean? Oh and the 'bye Elmo bye' thing? Too gorgeous! Hope you both have a better night tonight.
-
Thanks Sach! I will go to chemist tomorrow - i feel so helpless with him coughing so much
-
Hi ladies,
Just thought I let you know I gave in and bought 2 all in ones. I was wondering which ones do you all have. I got the all in one's on special, but there were two other sorts, so was wondering what you all had.
-
well HI to everyone. I feel like it's been ages since I've contributed. It's a bit crazy, cos I'm on the computer heaps at night, but I'm working, so it's not quite so much fun, and by the time I'm done with the work stuff I'm usually too tired to do anything else. And there's no point trying to get on here during the day, cos eagle eye boy is just obsessed with computers, and just wants to play with it if it's on. I'm not sure what's going to happen with the work thing after next week, waiting to see if they want me to come back after Christmas. Fingers crossed they do, cos I'm used to getting the money again now (not much, but it makes a difference), and Liam seems to enjoy Daycare (traitor), so I don't want to have to take him out at this stage, especially as it will be impossible to get him back in anywhere with all the ABC debacle that's going on.
My big news is that finally we have booked a reception place, so I finally have a date - 8/8/09. We're getting married at a winery on the Mornington Peninsula, which spookily my mum & sister decided years ago that it was where I'd get married cos they have the most amazing rose garden and beautiful views of the bay. Which wasn't why we chose it, it was that we couldn't find an indoor venue for a wedding that we liked anywhere else, and given that it's the middle of winter, we really needed/wanted an indoor venue. The roses won't be out, but the views are still there. So now I have to go dress shopping, and start thinking about all the other stuff that has to be done, which sadly, I'm not all that excited about for some reason. Maybe cos of Christmas coming up, and I've got so much stuff to organise for that before I can get my head around the wedding stuff. I'm kind of hoping the bride-head will kick in sooner rather than later, but at least I'm relaxed about it all. So far the most fun has been DF & I coming up with kitsch songs to walk down the aisle to - so far the winner is "I'm on my way" by the Proclaimers. So we have a way to go...
Em - poor little Tom, his cough sounds awful. Hopefully he's on the mend for you soon. The Bye Elmo" thing is very cute though.
Sacha - yum for the Salmon. and well done on taking the MCN plunge, you are a braver girl than I. Still no new teeth here, and so no idea why I'm getting such cranky nights, although he isn't always bad.
Sarah - yay for getting more teeth, I'm glad that they weren't too much trouble for him. And wow for the big bed. It's so interesting how differently our babies all develop, Bayleigh has so many more words than Liam, and there's no way I could put L in a big bed. In fact, if I didn't know better, I'd say Bayleigh was months older than Liam, he sounds so much more advanced. We do have a couple of words - "shooesss" and "bye" are big favourites at the moment, and "ty" for sky, and something starting with b for Bird. So we're getting there, and it's fantastically cute.
Mel - you are a wonder woman coping with two toddlers for such long stretches at a time. Your DH must be getting back just in time for Christmas??
Jess - wow, I still can't believe how quickly your pg has gone. I'm so looking forward to hearing your announcement. THe B12 deficiency is a pain for you, hopefully the dr is right & it resolves quickly once your new bub is here. Sending a bit of a grrr to your DH though, hope he pulls his socks up with you & Ethan.
Raels - hang in there sweetie.
Hi to everyone else, hope you're all well.
-
Hi everyone!
I am so unorganised for xmas, not sure how and when it is all going to happen, but hey it always does!
Sacha - Thanks for the suggestions. Lucas does always still have one of the white noise tracks off sounds for silence on....really just to block out noise, not sure if he really needs it but its become a habit to put it on and we are too scared to ever not put it on! What you do to salmon sounds like what i do to chocolate...tim tams atm! Oh and why must people drive cars and make noise while our kids sleep? Very inconsiderate, especially our garbage truck that comes at lunch time!
Em- How sad about the santa photo! I know so many people that has happened to this year though so yoiu're not alone. How funny though, Lucas was obsessed by elmo when he was waiting in line to get his photo done too! I'm thinking about getting him one for xmas, but i know the novelty will wear off and they are pretty expensive. How cute is it that all these kids can say so much now! They are not our little babies anymore are they? Do you have any plans for number 2? I hope Tom is ok, its horrible when they are sick and you cant help them! How are you coping as a cricket widow so far?
Jan - very exciting that you have a venue! Sounds ace! I think "I'm on my way" would be hilarious! It took us ages to pick a song, we ended up with "Islands in the stream" by the Bee gees!
Mel - You are amazing! I had a tear thinking of you kissing the kids good night! I am so emotional lately for some reason!
Jess - Good luck Jess...you sound like a bit of a wonder woman yourself at the moment.
Ok that's it from me for now, i'm off to write a shopping list!
-
Mel - Welcome to the world of MCN! I have the BabyBeehinds AIO, in the smooth and the minkee material, and I have one pocket nappy - a Happy Heiny which is super cute but I dont love. What type did you get?
Megan - Good luck with the Christmas shopping! My sister got Tom the talking Elmo - hopefully he will love it. Even if he doesn't I want to play with it. So cute! We currently don't have any plans for #2.. I think I am still getting over my morning sickness the first time around! I think we would like to start trying when Tom is about 3. How about you? Is there any "reason" for this emotional state of yours that you need to share with me??;). How's it going living with your parents? Is that the reason for your emotional state prehaps? Cricket is going so so. I can cope perfectly well with the training and the Saturday's away playing - its all the other crap. DH does the turf wicket so there always seems to be some excuse to be down there. I told him I think its time some of the younger guys without kids step up and help out, but I think it fell on deaf ears!
Jan - yay yay yay on setting a date! Which winery is it? Not Morning Star Estate? I have been to 2 weddings there and it is AMAZING. We went to another wedding in Mornington but I cant think of the name of the estate off the top of my head. My sister is having the same issues with dress shopping etc. She knows /she needs to get her butt into gear soon (hers is the 17/10) but needs to have Christmas over and done with first. Its great that Liam is enjoying daycare - gives you a better piece of mind doesn't it. (I loved your traitor comment). So far we haven't had to put Tom into daycare but work is talking about me doing another day next year and I think it will be too much to rely on family all the time. None of the centres in our town are closing, and they have spots available but centres in towns nearby will most likely be shutting, so I think the kids will be moved to the spots here.
Well, I am working the next 3 days so I really should be spending this time doing housework/ironing/washing/getting dinners ready/bags packed etc  but instead I've been sitting in front of the computer. I have had a bit of bad morning - I put Tom into time out in his room because of his hitting and biting, and I feel terrible! It was just heartbreaking but I didn't know what else to do. Jan gave me some fantastic advice in a thread I wrote about it. Does anyone else have biting/hitting/aggression issues? Please don't tell me its just me! He is generally a really well behaved little boy but lately things seem to be getting a little out of control. I don't want him to turn into one of 'those kids' if you know what I mean! How is everyone else dealing with discipline issues? This mummy stuff is hard sometimes....
-
Mel, I have two Baby Beehinds AIOs. Just arrived today, though I haven't used them yet. Which leads me to...
Em, I need some more advice. I tried them on Autie (medium because she is still under 11kg) but they seem a little too low in the front (about inch and half under her belly button) Does this seem right to you? I'm thinking I should send them back and get large even though they fit ok everywhere else. What do you think? Sorry to hear you're having a bad day :wall: These can be trying times huh? I haven't had aggression issues with Autie touch wood, but she does have tannies when she doesn't get her own way sometimes. So far distraction is working most of the time - 'No, you just can't have/do that... but you can do/have this instead'. I know it's not quite the same as the problems you're having but I will think on it some more as I don't have long to post atm. How is Tom doing?
Jan, how exciting to have a venue picked! I think you're being most sensible in you're relaxed approach to it all. After all, it's meant to be fun not a chore. I like your song choice too - more fun! I walked down the aisle to Enya's 'May It Be' and our wedding dance was Metallica's 'Nothing Else Matters' - two different ends of the spectrum! LOL All Dan's mates were congratulating him on his ability to get some Metallica in there, but in actual fact, it was my idea (I guess I don't seem the type to go for that genre, but I'm pretty eclectic) So great that Liam is enjoying care, do you feel really comfy with the teachers in his room too?
Megan, had any luck with the day sleeps? BTW, I love 'Islands in the Stream'!
Raels, hope you feel like jumping in with us again soon, even if only a short one. Personals not required...LOL
Hi everyone else. Hope you are all having a happy, peaceful day.
-
Sach - i would probably upsize. i get large for Tom even though he is still under 11kg too. I always found with any nappy - cloth or disposable - we needed to get up one.
Only quick post - 2 seconds of sanity! Will try to come back later
-
Evening ladies Just a quick post i will be back, just wanted to let you know its me Sarah,:) I have changed user names, I will be back hopefully soon to do personals
Sarah
-
Em - You sound like a lovely wife dealing well with all the cricketing! It is so hard when you dont get much of a break even if we do love our little cherubs time away from them is also bliss!! DH is constantly building our house, which obviously i cant complain about but oh to shop without Lucas!! Which cricket club does he play for? No news re my emotional state!! I think i am just needing a break atm and i dont know i think you just get more emotional in general once you have a baby. We will actually start trying again next year though....scares the hell out of me, but we will!! By the way what was the advice on the time out/discipline? Lucas seems to bite when he is over tired. The little bugger dit me the day before my brothers wedding so i had a nice hicky on my shoulder for it. Looked like a tart! He is generally not really aggressive but god he will not get the hang of the word "no"... does my head in when he does the same things over and over that he is not allowed to do!!
Sacha - The day sleeps are still unpredictable but i think i just have to live with it. Most of the time its a bit over an hour and usually after swimming i get 2! Woo hoo! Still doesnt seem enough for his age but he is fine with it so i guess i should be. All your nappy talk sounds very confusing.
-
Awww you girls are all so BEAUTIFUL!!!!
I will try and get back and do a proper post soon.....need to get back to reality sooner or later. Things are hard, so damn hard but I keep telling myself that worse things could happen, and I am not the only person to go through this sort of thing.
Just wanted to say re the bbh's - go large Sasha. I don't know how much Oliver weighs but I doubt he would even be 10kgs. I bought a stack of mediums and he has nearly outgrown them. The large are a little bulky on him but they fit better than the mediums. I love my mcn's!!!
Hello to everyone else.
Raels xo
-
Super quick while cooking tea - DH has been down tending to his beloved wicket so to punish him I told him we are having ham steaks for tea which he hates. I have really crumbed some veal snitchel (how do you spell it??) but i'm not going to tell him that. Evil..
Megan - the thread on Tom is in the Baby and Toddler general discussion under the title Discipline. Jan's advice is fantastic. Tom's hiting/biting seems to come out too when he is over excited or tired. Today was the first real proper aggressive go. Thankfully there was no more attempts to hit or bite for the rest of the day. The only tip I have regarding saying no is I find saying "Tom no" rather than just "no" works a little better because he seems to realise I am talking to him. Not always though. That tends to be for touching things, rather than his agro sessions
Raels -
