Oh you girls are funny!

Well we are trapped in the city so not quite sure whats going on at home. My BIL is out fighting the fires, all DH's rellies are packed and ready to go, but cant actually leave their town as all the roads are closed. Apparently our town is under ember attack and we can't get hold of any neighbours to find out whats going on. It is all slightly surreal at the moment. Yesterday I was making jokes about fires, today it is real.

There was a status update from Lis on facebook - she has lost houses in her street. So scary.

Now continue your funny conversation girls! Sacha - I think I saw photos of the tribe - they were taken by helicopter and they were all painted orange. Amazing to think there is still people like that. Apparently scientists are warning against contact with them as 1) they will kill you and 2) our germs would kill them as they have never been exposed.

Em, how is everything? You must have had a worried night. Keep us updated.

Ooh Mel, those sorts of stories fascinate me! You're right though, that is super sad about the 5yo. It's very hard to believe she would get a period that early but truth is stranger than fiction sometimes, as they say. I just can't allow myself to think about how it happened and how her body coped with a pregnancy. Anyway (sticking head in the sand) lets have more of those stories - even if you can't prove they're true! LOL

Em - How is everything?? Where are you? Hope everything is ok.

We are in Narre Sth, Vic and there were 6 houses in the street totally destroyed. Our street is a L shape, we live on the little part, but the houses along the long part back onto a big grass area and powerlines. It must have happened so fast cause we got home around 3ish, then 45 mins later we smelt smoke then looked out the front and there were people everywhere. At first we just thought it was 1 house,then I had friends message me saying there were 6 houses. We drove past this morning, totally devastating for those people who lost their homes, belongings everything! And for all the other people around the state. To think most of these could have been deliberate really makes me feel sick that people can think to do something like this. I hope there will be some sort of fundraiser for the people in our street, or if any had kids I would give them so many toys, no question. Its just terrible.

On a lighter note, Livvie hate her dinner again last night!! It was just a zuchini slice I had in the freezer. I bought some of the rafetys (sp) today so will see if she goes ok on them.

I just re-read my post - I meant that Liv ate all her dinner, not hate hehehe

Hello girls! Still stuck in the city - highway is still not open . DH rang his parents this morning and things were ok at that stage but now we are hearing they may be evacuated after all. My sister has come down with gastro so I really want to go home and not catch her germies! I think the roads will be open about 6 tonight hopefully.

Hey girls just a quick one from me.. Im jsut online checking updates on the fires...

My nan lost her house last night at glenburn they got out but they are now stuck at their neighbours place coz the fire is now coming back towards them and they dont have enuff water to keep the house safe.... CFA are trying to get in there to get them out they have a bulldozer trying to clear the rd or burning tree's My nan soooooo upsetr as am i but she just didnt have time to grab anythign from the house But she didnt even have time to grad my Great grand fathers ashes.. SHe is devasted coz with every other fire they have had he has een the first thing she grabs but this time there just wasnt any time.......
I hate being this far away....

My Girlfriend lives in narre and her daughters teacher lost her house in that fire.. I have friends leaving there houses in Bendigo..

Well im goin to go and see if my mum has any more news...

OMG Sarah I am so sorry to hear about your Nan's house, that is so upsetting. Sending lots of :hug: to you and your family. This is just devasting, everyone you speak to know people that have been affected by this is just awful.

Em - hope you can get home soon and I hope everything is ok. My friends inlaws and business are in Warragul but they are all down the island and hadn't seen the news at all until 9ish last night! But they had people keeping an eye on things - not sure where in Warragul they are.

Lis - OMG that you were that close. It's great that your house is okay, but so awful for your neighbours. But YAY that Olivia ate her dinner. Liam vomited his down my front, so I take it that his wasn't so palatable. Gotta love being a mum, I think when he was born I grew a target spot on my chest that says "spew here", cos the number of times....

Nicky & Bec - hope that you are both okay too, just watching the news talk about Bendigo fires.

Sarah - so sorry to hear about your Nan's home, that's so devastating. :hug: There just aren't the words to say how sorry I am for her.

I'm also feeling really sorry for the folks in qld who are having to deal with floods. They're "lucky" in that they're not having the same catastophic loss of lives, and they'll at least be able to salvage some things from their homes, but it's still a devastating thing to go through. And their difficulties are now somewhat overshadowed. I guess though that with floods it's an act of god (or whoever) so you can maybe reconcile the loss a little more easily, but so many of these fires down here seem to be acts of arsonists, or stupidists who flick cigarette butts (allegedly).

Hi there girls.
I'm ok. I haven't heard from Bec in such a long time, but hopefully through mum (who works at the CC centre that Xavier goes to), who should find out tomorrow.
I am about an hour by car from the fires, but we live in a teriibly bad area for fires if one were to occur. Poor Bendigo has copped a flogging. I can't believe that such a big place had a bloody huge fire rip through it. NEVER thought that would happen ever, but I tell you what, makes you really think about things.

I have my car packed just in case. Adam and I are staying pretty alert, ever though we are a fair way from the fires, they scare the cr@p out of us. We are more worried about storms coming through and lightning starting fires. We are so much drier up here than the areas affected already.

What a wacked out weekend.


Apart from that, all's well. Ducked up to the hospital Tuesday due to the extreme heat here and my chronic m/s ( yes, it's STILL going! ) lol.
I was given Zofran tabs, which are fricking expensive (about $10 per tab) and they have stopped working now, so back to being chucky mc chuck again.
Little one kicking around like CRAZY. Very very active, possibly more so than Lachie which is so hard ot believe.
Having scans from 28 weeks onwards to keep an eye on things in there, but from the kicks etc, I just know she's going to be a big tough nut.

ANys, though I would update just in case people were worried. When I hear about Bec, I'll let you know.

Jan, I must admit, if I had to choose between flood and fire, I know it would be the water. Hopefully those who didn't make it were unconscious first. Must've been truly terrifying.

Things are fine with us. The PMT has gone, for this month, really need to get onto getting it sorted out though.

Oliver is starting to really talk now, it's so cute, I just love it when they come out with new words. This morning he was patting my chest and said "ilk ink" I couldn't understand it at first and then I realised he wanted a "milk drink" - I have always called it milk, never boob or anything like that, it just doesn't sit right with me.

Olivia has been my little angel today - she is not big on the long hugs but today she must know I am graving them. She just gave me 3 longest hugs, followed by kisses and I just started crying, just what I need after all the news that keeps coming through about the fires.
They are so smart and can sense when we are not very chirpy, its so wonderful.

Nicky - so glad to hear that you're a good way from the fires but that you've got bags packed just in case. Sorry to hear that the Zofran isn't working anymore, you are a very tough girl to get through pg being so sick.

Lis - awww, that's gorgeous that Olivia was being so comforting.

Raels - Oliver's words a very cute. I call it milk too, really don't want him to suddenly decide to ask for 'boob" when we're in public, reminds me too much of the character from Little Britain who asks for "bitty" - urgh.

Sasha - I agree, I'd chose a flood over fire any day.

Well, today was first day of new job, and guess who threw up all night - yep, Liam. Must have done 5 loads of washing between midnight & 7am, we went through so many towels. DF stayed home with him while I went to work (and didn't that feel wrong!), and I've got my Mum coming to look after him tomorrow. Poor little tacker, speaking of which, he's up again.. BB sometime.

I'm here! Everything is ok here. We got back onto the highway about 8 Sunday night. Our place is pretty sooty and yuk - there is lots of burnt leaves and huges pieces of burnt bark in the backyard. Yukky stuff!
