Hi all,
Thanks for your words of encouragement. I have had a good day and managed to feed Olivia 2 times today so hopefully if I keep it up and get her on right my nipples won't crack again.
Questions - Do the nipples tend to ach after feeding? Does anyone else experience this?
I will hopefully get on more time tomorrow to read this thread and catch up with everyone and you and your little bubbas are doing, hope you are all well.
My little ray of sunshine is sleeping (I think), she has been so good today.

Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't been in a while. Jack is still not settling very well. The magic juice arrived two days ago, but still hasn't really kick in, either that or it's not working for him. I hate it, he sounds to be in so much pain, and I have tried almost everything and nothing seems to really help except to hold and cuddle him. Which is all fine and well, except I have a 14 month old who is starting to get her nose out I think as she is becoming very clingy and sooky. And it doesn't make night times much fun either. He normally has a decent sleep at the beginning of the night, goes down around 9-10ish and will sleep for 3-4 hours but thats about it, very restless for the rest of the night.
Thinking about taking him to a doc next week for a referral to see a paed.
Anyway apart from this things are good.
Flossie, yey on 2 feeds for Olivia today, sounds very promising and progressive for the two of you, I hope things continue to improve for you.
Zofia, wow on going back to uni so soon. You go girl!! I don't know how you do it, really. Good luck!!
Kylie, I can sympathise with you. It's not much fun and breaks your heart when you can't seem to help them hey? Fingers crossed for you though, he comes good soon.
Veronica, congrats on Avaleighs arrival, can't wait to see pics of her.
Kristy, how are the bathrooms coming along? Thanks for your info, sounds similiar to Jacks feeds. He is normally every 3 hours during the day, and well 2-3 at night. Hoping things improve soon though.
Jem, how is Charlotte sleeping now? Still like a dream, I'm so jealous!!
Relle, is Angus still the perfect bub?
Take care lovely ladies,
Sorry if I missed someone, promise it won't happen again, must be off.

Hi girls,
I will try to do personals, but forgive me if they are brief, Angus is a bit unsettled and I am holding him.
Kylie - I hope Sebs wind has settled a bit. How did you go with your appt? Does he have thrush? I know the one time I Cooper had oral thrush it really affected his feeding as it hurt him to suck for very long.
Veronica - congrats on the arrival of Avaleigh. So great to hear she is doing well!
Floss - I am sure you probably have, but are you using Lansinoh cream at all? The other thing I would suggest is seeing a lactation consultant. There may be some small thing they can suggest to help improve her attachment to help stop the cracked nipples. I hated feeding Cooper that much, that it was far less stressful for me to fully express and feed him via a bottle! than to try and put him on the boob. It is awesome you managed a copule of feeds, you are doing a great job hun!
Zofia - I can't believe you have started back at uni. What are you studying?
Mel - what a bummer about Jack's wind. It is really hard to when you are trying to juggle everything. I found going from 1.to 2 harder so far than 2 to 3. Make sure you let us know how you go if you take Jack to the paed.
Well we have had a bit of an unsettled day with Angus today. I am very aware of needing him to be able to self settle through the day, especially when dh goes back to work, but as we are in a double storey house, constant trips up the stairs to put a dummy in, is also going to be difficult with the other 2 getting upto goodness knows what downstairs.
He is still having great nights though, so certainly can't complain. He is sooooo similar to Campbell. I stressed myself out to the max for the first 3 months of Campbell's life cause I was adamant that he woulde self settle and sleep when I wanted him too. he did learn - eventually! but I don't have that time now, so not really sure what to do.
He is still feeding really well and got weighed yesterday and had put on 300 grams in 5 days! lol little piggie!
Jem - how are you going with the 3 hun?
hope everone else is well, have a great night!
-
Hi girls
Just a quicky me so I will pop back in over the weekend and do personals.
Mel - big hugs to you my dear. - its tough isnt it when these little bubbas wont settle or you are having trouble feeding.
Kylie - big hugs to you as well - is Seb settling a bit better today? I found a CD called Sounds for Silence which has a lot of white noise/environmental noise like a dishwasher or washing machine helped Jesse settle.
Flossie - you are amazing persisting with the breast feeding - hugs. SOunds like you are doing a great job and I hope they continue to get better and better.
Veronica - congrats on the safe arrival of your princess Avaleigh. How is the feeding going - I saw another post of yours asking some questions about it.
Zofia - you are amazing going back to uni with a newborn - working as well. How do you do it???
Relle -thanks for the info re the grommits - we have decided to go ahead with getting them so he is booked in for 6 August. DH will have to be with him when he goes under as I know it will make me cry seeing him looking all scared and wondering what is going on. I will be there for him when he wakes up though. I hear you on wanting Angus to self settle - I want/NEED Charlotte to do the same - how are you going about it? Re your question how I am coping with three - I am doing better than I thought I would but I am dreading DH going back to work as I am sure things will come crumbling down.
Kristy - how is Miss Maddison going at the moment? Also how is the bathroom coming along - how nice will a new bathroom be - lucky you!!
Hi to everyone else - hope you are all going well and your bubbas are doing as they should.
Me - not much new to report. Charlotte is still sleeping pretty well - going from about 10pm at night until 3ish then waking for a feed and then goes off to sleep again until between 6 - 7 am. I am very thankful she is a sleeper (I am touching wood as I say that) cause Jesse hasnt been sleeping all that well - but that is probably becasue he isnt well AGAIN.
I had best run and go and eat some snack chocolate.
Take care everyone
Jem

OMG OMG OMG:dance:
Just quickly before we go out, just thought I'd let you know I'm feeling very optimistic today. Jack was a different baby last night. Put him down after a feed at 9:30pm, he woke at 1:30am, feed gave him the magic juice bounced on the ball down at 2:30am, slept til 4:30am, feed him again more juice more bouncing then down and he slept until 7:00am. Couldn't believe it. I'm hoping it happens again tonight:pray:
Hope things are well or getting better for all.

yay mel and yay jack. I am very happy for you and i have everything crossed that it continues. Good work!!!

good morning everyone.. I am typing with my left hnd with cuddling Avaleigh so bare with me with the spelling mistakes! hopefully today i can read over wht everyone has posted and get my birth details up too. We havent had much sleep since getting home and the visitors are keeping me awake during the day so i have said no visitors today cause i am sleeping!
Avaleigh is doing real goood. m/w came to see us yesterday and everything looks good. She is back today for the weigh in and with the way this one is feeding, she would have regained what she lost plus more. She is vrey unsettled between midnight and 5 am, i ended up giving her a dummy last night, feel like a bit of a failure but i was desperate...
well better go put bub down, have some breaky and have a snooze too. oh i have heard many of you mention that this thread id going to get busy, it sure is, i hgope we can all keep up!

Hi all,
Well after more tears, frustration for both me and Olivia I have decided to stop breastfeeding her. I am still expressing for until I can but the feeding is just too painful.
I rested them for a good week, then tried her on again for a good 3-4 days and they are grazed, cracked and bleeding again. I get frustrated when feeding her and she can feel that and that is not good for me or her.
I have tried, and I still feel like I am failing and letting myself and everyone down but I just don't feel I can pesist with it any longer.
My Mum said it happened with me, she couldn't feed me as I sucked to to hard and hurt her too much and that could be what Olivia is doing to me? It could be the way she is sucking that makes my nipples continuously cracking.
I have tried everything people have thrown at me to make the ok but nothing is working.
Sorry to burden all this again, I just needed to get it out.

Hope you are all doing ok - Mel that is great the little Jack had a great night :)

Oh FLossie *hugs* times like these are hard but you gave it your best shot. *more hugs*

Hi girls,
Wowo it is starting to get very busy in here!
Trace, so good to see you in here hun! I don't know about you, but I have found havign 3 not as bad as I had feared.
Jem I am the same, things are going quite well now, but waiting for it to crumble when DH goes back to work in another week. I am hoping that I will be more used to feeding Angus and dealing with the others by then that it won't be as bad. I am sure we will have our days, but at least we have a network of people that will understand! lol
Floss - you have given it everything you have got, and I think Kristy said it quite a while ago, happy mum = happy baby. You have given her a great start by giving her breast milk so far, any day is a bonus.
Veronica - good to hear you are having a visitor free day, rest up hun!!
Mel - Woohoo on Jack's night, I hope they continue to get better for you hun.
Jem - I was with Campbell both times he was put under, it is very difficult watching it. It was much worse for us the second time when he had his tonsil out, as the surgery is longer, they are in recovery longer and that was actually an overnight stay as well as a good solid 10 days of recovery at home. As mush as it was a really tough 10 days for Campbell, even that was still worth it, so I would definately say grommits are worth it as they are so easy for them to recover from, like I said, Campbell was up and running around that afternoon after the grommit/adnoid surgery.
Well my sister and family are coming this arvo, had better go, I have a slice baking and have finally caught up on all of my housework today!

Hi everyone
Veronica - glad you are having a visitor free day. I had to do that too. It gets so exhausting other wise. They say when you become a parent you have to learn to do everything with one hand, which includes typing I suppose. I am still having trouble operating the mouse with my left hand though.
Flossie - good on you for persisting with breastfeeding as long as you have. Hugs. Don't beat yourself up about it deciding to stop. The media does seem to portray breastfeeding as something easy and natural, but this is not always the case, so you have to do what is best for you. Also, if you keep expressing, your milk won't dry up and you have the option of starting to breastfeed again later on if you want (the Australian Breastfeeding Association has information on their site about this).
Mel - glad that things are going well for you and Jack. What is the magic juice you are talking about?
Welcome to the threat Blueflower and Tracey.
Thanks to all of you for your encouragement re me going back to uni and work. How do I do it? With lots of helf from a wonderful partner and an understanding boss. :) I am really grateful for all the support I get.
I am taking a break from infant potty training at the moment. I have Diana in disposable nappies, so when I was looking out for her pooing and weeing signs by the time I got her nappy off she had dirtied it a bit so it needed changing. As I was now changing her 2-3 times more frequently than before I decided that this wasn't cost effective and that I should put her in cloth nappies. I went and bought some cloth nappies yesterday, put Diana in them and lo and behold, they leaked when we went shopping and there was no toilet nearby. I thought that I had put the nappies on wrong or something so I tried again when we got home, and they leaked again. This time it was only a few minutes after a feed and I saw no signs that she even needed to go. So I am putting the potty training on hold until I work out what I am doing wrong with the cloth nappies. I still hold her over the potty when I change her normally though and most of the time she wees on cue, so I feel that the whole thing is worth perservering with.

Relle, My Hubby goes back to work on Monday, I told maddy to let her teacher know there may be a few late days next wk, he laughed & said.. "I dont think so, I saw your Mum having contractions at our meeting, she'll get you here on time!"
I am finding it Ok having 3 too, Maddy is a big helper though, Indah is accepting & fine with Zyon now too so that's all good!!
Well the nurse come this morning to check Zyon & do his heel test! He had only lost 85g since birth, my milk is well & truly in & man he is guzzling it down now, she siad it wont be long & his skinny long legs will be big chubby roly poly ones!!!
My blood loss has almost stopped too, but tha'ts normal for me (lucky I know)..
I hope everyone si resting & enjoying their bubba's!!!
-
I got a visit from the m/w today to check how much weight Avaleigh has put on the the clever lil girl is back to her orginal birth weight!! I am not surprised with that with the amount of feeding she is doing.
Im feeling exhausted, I know I shouldnt have but I vacuumed and mopped the floors  yes I know, tell me off... Our male dog has gotten very territorial I think of his home and has been weeing inside lots. Naughty dog will be sleeping outside tonight.
Going to have a shower and have a lay down before my princess is ready for her next feed.

Flossie, I think you have done a wonderful job to breastfeed as long as you have. You should be proud that you have done so well so far. And FF isn't bad at all, just think the responsibility of midnight feeds isn't entirely on you now, you can share them with DH;). but really, you can always keep expressing while Olivia takes formula for awhile to keep your supply up, then one your nipples have fully healed you can try again, if thats what you want. Just try not to beat yourself up though, I think you have lasted alot longer than I would have if I were in your shoes.
Jem, Relle, Tracey, I'm handling 2 pretty well I think, DH has been back to work for a week now as well as uni, and I'm coping better than I thought I would be able to. Exam time will be interesting though. It's definately alot easier when DH is home, I just don't want to get too used to his help with uni taking up so much of his time. Fingers crossed it won't be too stressful on us.
Don't want to get too excited just as yet, but we put forward a contract on a house today. Won't be able to move until october, but fingers crossed the contract gets signed and we have our new home. Won't have far to move either as its in the same street as ours just about 100m up the road. Similiar style home, just bigger and on a full block, not as nice inside but we have some money aside for some cosmetic renos. But like I said don't want to get hopes up yet
-
I missed your post Veronia, do you have pics of Avaleigh yet that you can share?
-
I do Mel!! I will get them up now :)
