Welcome to the thread June Princess. How much does your princess weigh now?
We had our 4 month MCHN visit yesterday. It was with a different nurse as mine is on holiday for a month & she told me that Brock is overweight but that they don't worry about it at this age.
I'm so shocked. He has chucked so much milk it's hard to imagine he gets enough in his tummy, let alone be considered overweight. He's 6.45 kgs. At least he's not underweight I guess.
We are trying out thickened formula now as both the supermarket and the chemist didn't have his usual formula & I couldn't be bothered driving to another shopping centre & I was out.
We are off to get his needles in about 1/2 an hour.
My gosh Satya.. if Brock is overweight at 6.45kg than Coop must be obese LOL He is 7.8kgs and is super long 72cm. Im not short (182cm) and DP is considerable taller than me (bout a foot, maybe footnhalf) so he is going to be tall. And despite weighing so much he isn't fat or chubby just solid! How long is Brock? Like Brook I don't think Coop gets all that much in his tummy (did I mention that a few posts ago) and as you said better than being underweight! Hope Brock's needles were as fuss free as needles can be!
Wanted to type more but i have a grizzly bear - needles, teething, car accident doesn't make for a happy chappy.. BBL :)
Hi everyone, man I haven't posted in a while have I!!
Tan sorry to hear about your scary accident, I'm glad to hear that everyone was ok though.
I have been quite busy with work and also at home with some happenings on in my family at the moment, my SIL just broke up with her partner of three years so they are having dramas and I've been trying to help her out with that.
Can't remember whether I mentioned but I put Josie on formula a couple of weeks ago and I am really happy with my decision. She's doing great on the formula and hasn't had as nearly as many tummy aches as she got with breast milk. A lot happier all-round too. I'm glad to have my body back and can't wait to go to the shops and get myself a nice bra again! Sick of these horrid maternity bras. Yes they are comfortable but you just can't wear anything nice with them on!!
Josie's needles went well, she didn't have any reactions to them at all. She grizzled for a while and then was completely over it. She didn't even get drowsy like she did last time! It was back to her normal routine!!
Hope your little ones are doing well. For those who have started their bubbas on food, how long did it take before they started actually eating? Because Josie is still spitting her Farex out. Granted, I haven't been giving it to her regularly...
Hi girls
I havent been on here as my laptop has died so atm im using DF Scotts.
Satya: some nurses are a pain in the bum saying a baby is overweight yet they dont do anything at this age..... well why say anything??? 6.45kg thats not extreme for a boy baby!
I havent had Alistair weighed or have i taken him back to HCN since he was 8 weeks old!! I cant see the point as he is thriving, wet/dirty nappies, sleeping, have wake periods, gurgling & smiling, good head control etc etc and his head doesnt look abnormal etc .
I go to the Gp for his shots which are due again soon which im not looking forward to but oh well they need to be done in my eyes!
I was wrapt the other day an old ex (friend of 20 yrs) came around after 12 mths (left me and scott alone so we could get establisged with out him the old flame hanging around he quoted that to me ) and he met Alli and it was just super. Scott is getting used to us remaining friends but he will have to get used to it !!
Must go and have a glass of wine and dinner
Cheers Ainsley
Well all did not go to plan (as usual).
Brock had a temp so doc wouldn't do his shots. He had a temp last time too and we have to put them off for a few days. I had so many delays with things during the pregnancy & now it seems the same happens whenever Brock has appointments. It looks like that's just how his life is going to be I think.
Gave him panadol and he's all OK. Have to go back next Wed. We've had two doc trips between Brock and I this week and we will have two again next week (maybe even three if he's not right on Wed). Thank goodness it's a bulk billing clinic.
Ainsley - I haven't been game not to go back to the health nurse. It's like I feel I'll get into trouble if I don't or something. I'll be back at work by the time his next one is due so I don't know if I'll go for it. The woman also told me to get his neck checked by a chiro as he was leaning to one side and she saw in the notes he was doing this last time. Trouble was last time it was to the left, this time it was to the right. So I don't think we will bother.
Tan - Brock is a shorty. Really short. 59.2cms therefore a bit chubby - he doesn't have big rolls or anything, but he's well rounded with a chubby face. His cousin has the big rolls so I guess she must be considered obese (I must ask her mum). Maybe it's in the genes.
Emma - I'm glad formula is working so well for you. It was the best thing I did when I switched from BF & doing top ups to doing FF. The trouble is you don't see a lot of support for it, particularly on BB. I was lucky the lactation consultant I saw at around 5 weeks said that Brock had already had all the goodness he really needed from my milk and that everything else could be provided by formula from then on. It made the decision a lot easier for me.
Hi all
Well I went to see an ABA lady yesterday. I didn't realise until I got there and we started talking that not only is she a volunteer for the ABA, but she is a CHN and Midwife too! When she said that I felt such immense relief. Finally I have help!!!
He was so unsettled yesterday, for my trip to Emerald (an hour away), I just couldn't console him.... I was so glad I left Lachlan with his father at the shop. I just couldn't have done both.
Anyway at my nail appt he put a big performance for his feed that when I got to see the ABA lady - sure enuf he was fine. Well kinda.... He lached on fine and was sucking for a good few minutes and then pulled off and wouldn't go back on. Now this the best he has done in a while (always the way), but..... she could then see how he protested to go back on and applauded me for not forcing him and showed me some different positions too. Now when I sat him up, omg was he upset. She could see if was in a terrible amount of pain and said it has to be reflux.
I think because of how severe Lachlan was, I continually doubt myself that we are there again. Having her confirm that I am not going crazy took a huge amount of pressure off my shoulders. The support she gave me was amazing and right when I was needing it too. She told me I am doing a wonderful job and the way I am handling his feeding is comendable. I have developed the attitude lately that I will not force him to the boob, and she said that is def the way to be atm, as I don't want to scare him off it.
Now she said we should definitely ditch the zantac and go onto Losec.
So I rang my paed today (she is very aquainted with us because of Lachlan's history), and she faxed thru a script to Bundaberg so we can have the suspension sent to us in two parts. Impossible to get it here cold where we live. We use to live in Bundy/Gin gin area, so knew the chemist as he regularly filled our Losec scripts for Lachlan and when we moved here had him do the same (ie: send it in two parts, so that we could mix and then put in the fridge).
The ABA lady suggested that I go off dairy, but the paed said just to give the Losec two weeks and then we will decide if that is the next step or not. Otherwise we won't know what is working or not!
So feeling so much more at ease today, knowing full well I have support around me if I need it.
Just never thought we would be going down this road again, but hopefully it is shortlived. Lachlan wasn't off Reflux meds until 18mths, I am hoping Riley comes good alot sooner then that. Here's hoping.
He had a 1 and 2min feed yesterday that was it and he fought his last feed of the night, but wade nursed him to sleep and put him on and he had an ok feed. Just crazy cause he slept from 9pm till 5am. I just don't get it!!!
Sorry about the me posts lately, just been so overwhelmed with this feeding and it has been getting me down. Hopefully we are now on the right track and I can start chatting to you girls again real soon.
Thanks for your support. Sometimes I wonder what I would do without my internet buddies.
Heya mummies
Welcome June P... this is a great group to be a part of :)
Dean went to work with the keys today and so I was stuck at home all day - which I am so not used to and had already had a fairly at-home week and was supposed to be catching up with my bf for cuppa and stuff. SOOOO disappointed not to get out of the house and really over it by 10pm tonight.
Charli's been fairly demanding today after her needles on Wednesday. She was fine on Wed and a little grizzly yesterday but I always find her bowl issues get worse when she's had them - the rotavirus thingy I think does it. She still has the whole doesn't pooh for a week thing and I was hoping the immunisations would fix her up again like last time but it doesn't seem to have done. Sorry about my grammar - too tired and too late to think straight! lol
Satya - I had a good chuckle and was going to say the same things as Tan about if Brock is overweight then so is Charli. LOL ignore that crap about overweight etc. If the kid is healthy that's the important thing. Charli was 6.5kg at her 4mth check. Nothing was said and I would doubt it would be at this age - they go up and down and all over the place until they are much older. It's only cos he's shorter that she's probably said anything - again that doesn't mean a lot at this age. :) Good luck with that formula! Hope it works well. I took Charli to my chiro (she specialises in paediatric chiropractic care) and it helped with her favouring a side and strengthening her neck that bit more. But it's up the the individual! It will sort itself out anyway I reckon. WHat city do you live in?
Tan - wow you guys are TALL! Models? ;) Cooper sounds like a big boy - must look older than he is? A friend of mine is the same sort of height as me (172cm) and her husband is a giant - gotta be AT LEAST 6'7" and their 5 month old looked 1 !!!!! She is so darned huge it's unbelievable - not out of proportion though!!!!! Born over 10lb. Can't half tell why thought when you see Nathan - he's not only tall he's solid. How are you going after the accident? Have you still got a sore neck or anything?
Serendipity (Emma?) (sorry I am getting everyone's names mixed up and so playing it safe!) - Isn't it just the best feeling getting your boobs back to yourself!? I remember loving being back into my old/new bras when I weened Liv off. And am hanging (literally) out for the next weening.. but Charli is feeding so well I have no idea when that will end! What I do know though is that my boobs will never be the same.. they seem to be just about hitting the ground after this girl. ANyway I digress... that's great that Josie didn't react badly to the jabs - yay! I wonder if Josie is ready for the food if she's not interested in swallowing it? I am totally confused about when to start Charli on it.. she's JUST started to watch us eat now.
Ainsley - what a pain about the laptop! Ours did that earlier in the year and I was so frustrated not being able to keep up with the forum and email etc. Drove me nuts! At least you go to the GP for the shots and the GP will always say if he/she thinks there is any issues. That's nice that your old mate came over. You have mentioned the tension bw Scott and him. I hope things improve so that you all feel comfortable with you keeping in touch. Speaking of wine... do any of you drink while breast feeding and what do you find with that? I haven't done it more than once or twice and to be honest haven't actually read up on it or anything and wondering about it eg. how much and so on.
Sheree - that's really good that you have been confirmed and affirmed! I understand that feeling of just knowing what is going on and now you can just go ahead and deal with that. Hope the Losec works SUPER well and he comes good much earlier than Lachlan did!
We are getting evaporative cooling put in next week - so excited about it (I probably already mentioned it that's how excited lol). We had a very hot time here in the house last summer and I just couldn't go through it again with a baby as well. But this means I need to clean out the 'junk' room which is suposed to be Charli's room and we have been mega slack about getting it done for her - am I a bad parent to have her in our room still??? SHe's in a basinette and really we had Liv out of our room by 10 weeks because she kept us awake with all her noises. This time I am just being slack and because I can feed her in bed it's all much easier. ANyways we are being forced to get the room in order so now is a good a time as any. I think she'll be fine with transferring to the cot. I am actually looking forward to it in some ways and not in others. I never thought I would feel like this about moving her into her own room. With Liv I couldn't get her out quick enough lol.
Have a great weekend guys!!!
Rach.x
Hi
I dont BF but my sister does and she drinks wine on a regualar occurance she i think expresses and puts it in fridge abd then has her wine or 3 then that night and the following morning she uses the express milk and chucks the first express down the shower drain lol and then she is right. Depending how much she drinks i suppose but i doubt wether she would get drunk as a scunk all the time.
Cheers Ainsley
Good ol pump and dump hey Ainsley. I miss BFing (still wish my bbs worked) but it's nice to have the occasional glass of red or 2 with dinner without having to worry about tainting supply. I have my 10yr school reunion in just over a months time and it will be my first big night out, actually come to think of it it will be my first night out without Cooper in tow... my gosh I'm excited and apprehensive at the same time! We hosted a ****tail party at home bout 3 weekends ago - promoting a promotions company for the new banana ad - nananananana make those bodies sing (it soooo gets stuck in your head) - and the banana daquiries were flowing and because I had a demanding bub stuck to my hip I didn't even manage to finish a glass!
BRB or more than likely BBL :)
Tan2705: How did the demanding child in tow happen ??? You didnt organise that very well girlfriend lol What happened to bed time and /or husband/partner helping hand for you to relax you poor sausage!
Im so lucky i have a beaut babysitter that i have known for about 4 yrs and know ahe is minding Alistair for us from 12md til 6 3 days a weeks when i work for a set rate and the scott gets home at 6 and takes over ... i get home at 10pm. Also if we need a 'dirty weekend' or a no kid weekend we can hand him over to darling babysitter ( who is nid 50s) for 24 hrs for $70 ! Its cheaper to have a dirty/fun weekend that work haha...
xx
Oh if only.. DP works away - 28 days on 9 off! So I am basically a single parent most of the time! DP is really good when he is home, lets me go do my thing (nails, hair, wax, shop) it's just not often enough and social occasions never seem to fall within the dates he has off! Take for instance Melbourne Cup day... do you think I can find someone to babysit so I can have a champers or 20 - everyone I know is already going to a luncheon or are working GRR! Still abit funny bout leaving him with a random babysitter just yet and everyone I trusted to look after him the night of the ****tail party was here! I figure good things come to those who wait.. I have been waiting a bloody long time for a night out so it's going to be a cracker!!!!!
My little princess now weighs 6.4kgs but she had problems putting on weight when she was younger. She also just had her 4 month immun. last week and had a temp :-(
Hi everyone,
Might be a bit of a me post today, I see everyone is doing well - immunisations and all.
I really didnt want to go to the doctor for her shots today but she was so funny. She had a bit of a snotty nose and cough so the doc checked her out first and as soon as he put the stethascope (SP??) on her chest she took in a big breath and let out a sigh......hahaha like she knew.
Anyways she had the first shot and didnt even cry until the needle was being pulled out of her leg then smiled at the doctor. Such a brave little munchkin. Taylor had a temp at her last shots and is already getting one now. She is sleeping at the moment but I dont think she will be as sleepy this time as she was last time either.
We had her MCHN visit last week.... speaking of big babies, I was looking at the charts and we have a baby who is off the charts in length (and I noticed she isnt even the longest on here) in the 95th percentile for weight and in the 25th percentile for her head circumference. LOL odd shaped baby!! Anyways she now has 40.9cm head, 69cm in length and 7.32kgs. Its funny coz she isnt a fatty either, she has thunder thighs like her mum but the rest is just skinny Minnie. I was told off for not giving her enough tummy time because she isnt doing 'push ups' yet with her arms out straight but both Dave and I think its a crock.
Taylor has taken to rolling over very nicely.... she has been rolling from belly to back since 8 weeks and in the last 2 or 3 weeks has been rolling from back to belly with a great deal of effort though and just in the last few days she has started doing it with such ease that every time I walk into check her in her cot she is on her belly. I roll her back over but sometimes she just rolls back again. Give it another couple of weeks and Im betting money on her army crawling!!!
To answer the solids question Taylor took right to Farex, never once spat a bit out she gave a chewing sort of motion and swollows. The only time she has the extrustion reflex (sticking tongue out of mouth) is when she has had enough of her bottle or food or whatever is in her mouth at the time. In saying that Ive given Farex a break at the moment. Taylor has a cold and ever since she started with this cough she has been very chucky. A lot fo reflux that she has never had before and its much worse after the farex - isnt it supposed to be better?? Anyways Ill just wait until she is finished swollowing all her mucous (which is causing the reflux apparently) from her snotty nose and then Ill start it again.
Gosh she is long. I would say that is where her weight is, in her length.
Girls and boys charts are different too.
Hi everyone.
Sheree - It's great that you are getting on top of the feeding issues at last. It's such a relief when that happens. Thank goodness for the ABA lady. I feel very lucky that I have just a happy chucker rather than a reflux bub as it must make life very hard.
livyloos mum - Yay on getting cooling. We are looking into aircon at the moment. I'm in Melb in the outer south east. Where abouts are you?
:D
DF & I had our first night out alone together on Sat night. Left Brock with my parents while we went to the soccer. The Victory women's team won which was great but the Victory boys lost, but we still managed to have a good time. It was such a warm night. We were away from him for about 7 hours and he was fine. Didn't give them any trouble at all but he decided he needed a feed at about midnight just before I went to bed which he NEVER does.
Brock has now taken to sleeping either on his side or his tummy, he's hardly ever on his back when he wakes up now even though I always place him that way. The best new development is that if he is on his back or his side it is his right side he is favouring so it looks like we might have finally got past him leaning to the left. Yay - finally we can stop worrying about his lopsided head.
Brock had a temp again today at the docs so didn't get his needles. He hasn't had a temp since Friday and suddenly he has one when he goes to the docs. It was really warm in there, don't know if that could've done it to him while we waited 1/2 an hour for the doc who was stuck in traffic. Back again on Friday for third time lucky.
Had a rough night last night. Brock kept waking and going mental. I finally got him settled at 12.30 after he'd had two feeds (had a sleep inbetween them). I guess he wasn't feeling well.
Just got a call from DF. He resigned from his job today and they've asked him to finish up today instead of 2 weeks time. That means he'll have around 3weeks off before he starts his new position. Yay!!!!! We can now have a holiday and spend some quality time together before he starts working shifts.
Poor Brock and poor mummy.
yay for your hubby, that is gr8 he gets sum time off. I miss working for someone else to get those types of privlidges some days.
Satya: Did you end up getting Brocks immunisations??
Taylor slept for 24 hours straight (aside from me waking her at her normal feed times) after her immunisations. She had a 38.5 fever the nigh we had them done but it lasted alll of half an hour before coming back down to under 38 and within the day she was back to normal. Much better then last time!!! We even got to sleep in till 10am YAY.
Bought a Jolly Jumper for Taylor and she absolutely loves it!!
Ive been waking up at night worried about Taylor, its been every night for the last week and its starting to get really annoying. Last night was the worse. By the time Dave woke me I had thrown the blankets off both of us and was sitting up looking for Taylor because I could hear her breathiing but couldnt feel her. When I woke up I thought she got caught up in the blankets and I had thrown her when I threw off the blankets then I realised it was the baby monitor that I could hear her breathing. Most nights though Iwake up asking Dave if she has been fed or telling him that I havent fed her when actually I have or I wake up thinking she is in the bed and I have rolled onto her. Its really driving me insane and I dont know why it started now.
Anyways its really quiet in here!!! Hope everyone is well and over those immunisations for another 2 months : )
smudgies mum - your nights sound very stressful. You must be starting to be getting tired from all that waking up. I wonder what has triggered this suddenly?
:p
Brock had his imunisations on Friday. He cried for about 10 seconds for the first one but not at all for the second one. He threw up in the waiting room afterwards so now I'm worried the liquid one wont have taken. I think I vaguely remember the doc saying the time before that it starts working as soon as it hits their mouth, not sure though. He had a bit of a temp but slept heaps - probably from the panadol. He had one loose poo & a couple of cries that night but was fairly normal.
He's still waking at night crying because his dummy has fallen out. I get up, put it back in and go back to bed, wake up an hour or so later to him crying, put it in again off he goes to sleep again & so on and so forth. Sat night he didn't wake at all. I have no idea why he is suddenly so upset without his dummy as he's always been able to sleep without it and for about a week (maybe 2) he has been waking if he's dropped it.
I've kept him on the Karicare AR & can't believe the difference it made after about a week on it. He only throws up just a little now. It's amazing. He is more regular now too. Does at least one poo a day - sometimes 3 - he used to sometimes go 3 or 4 days before. I wish I'd tried it earlier. His skin is clearing up really well too.
hi all
satya - just from experience, this is about when the whole getting up to put the dummy back in starts! I actually suggest you ween bub off the dummy now while it's easier to do it or you will be up to put a dummy in for some months. Just a suggestion - we actually put up with it and Liv had a dummy til she was 3 - shocker. But a friend weened her son off by 6 months and they were really glad they did.
I started Charli in the jolly jumper this week too - she LOVES it!!! I am so glad I got one and Liv loves playing with her in it. YAY. Charli also has been playing in a tube thingy - will have to post a few photos some time. She has been chatting non-stop the last 2 days it's adorable... and noisy!
I have nipple thrush. I haven't been to the GP but I remember this from last time. I hate it! It's painful and really hard to get rid of - you just pass it between yourself and the baby. Anyone else had it?
Liv had her 4 year old jabs today. SOOOO glad it's over with and sent DH off to do it lol.
Since it's cup day tomorrow DH took today off as well and he gave me a day off. I got to go to the shops on my own for a couple of hours (of course most of that was buying things for hte kids lol) and when I got home he took them out for a few hours so I watched a movie and got on the puter and such things. Ahhh. I feel slightly human again.
Hope you are all doing well. xo
Satya- I agree with Liv I would try weening the dummy, hard I know and it will take a while of listening to crying. Taylor didnt take a dummy until she was around 8 weeks and we only gave that to her because she literally cried all day after her immunisations, there was only so many hours I could have her attached to my breast.
While I was in hospital we had a girl whose little boy had bad refux and she put him on Karicare AR while in there and she said it made a great difference. Not long until solids either which she swears inproves it even more.
Glad to hear Brock finally got his needles and was a tough little man for you.
Livy: I love those human days. I think I am due for one soon, Im feeling a bit out of sorts lately.
In saying that I feel out of sorts I am actually a little worried I may be pregnant again. The bad dreams/episodes the feeling tired during the day and well my pill which has played havoc on me for the last 3 months with spotting every few days has all of a sudden stopped. And I took a pill a few hours late about a week and a half ago then again a few days later, Im getting really forgetful with it and Ive never been like that before. It would be my luck 2 years ago i had an operation for PCO and now..... well who knows maybe Im just overreacting. I ook a pg test the other day and no sign of being pg but Im still worried, Ill take another one maybe tomorrow and see if there is any change honestly I dunno what we would do if I was pg again. I dont think we could have it and yet I know just how hard it would be for me to go the other option. Better not jump ahead of myself ill just get upset.
I wouldn't be game to try to get rid of the dummy yet. It has to get put in after every meal or he cries. I know he's not hungry it's that he gets bad wind & once the dummy is in we can then burp him. We do intend to get him off it by 12 months so are hoping that the wind & chucking will be completely resolved once solids start.
We've cleared a large space in the middle of our loungeroom. Brock is rolling all over the place so we thought it was time we gave him the room he needed so he doesn't keep rolling into couches. He looks like he's enjoying it immensely. He looks like a turtle when he's on his tummy craning his neck & head up. It's hilarious.
livyloosmum - nipple thrush - that sounds pretty awful. Glad I'm not BFing anymore!!! It's great you are feeling human again - it's so nice to have a little break. It looks like we will be on our mini break next week. A few days away somewhere midweek. It will be nice to have DF about all the time without any distractions of family and friends.
smudgiesmum - if you've been on the minipill for a few months now the spotting might have disappeared because your body is now used to it. Have you had some late nights or have you had to get up more during the night lately? That could explain the tiredness. I so understand your concerns re pregnancy. I am quite paranoid that it's going to happen to me again. It's ridiculous because it took me so long to have a baby and at my age my chances are getting so much lower all the time but still I imagine it's going to happen. I'm completely hopeless with pill taking & each month I have a very nervous wait towards the end of my cycle. I have done HPT's on a couple of cycles as I thought I might be, but I wasn't. I'm now charting in an effort to stop testing like that, and to try and stop stressing about it. At least I would see a temp rise if I was pregnant. I think in my case it might be caused by me wanting another baby but I'm not willing to give it another try for a number of reasons. Fingers crossed that your HPT's keep coming up negative.
Hi everyone
Satya - I have a similar problem with Josie, although she doesn't sook for it every night, just sometimes? I guess it has something to do with her teething, I think she likes to bite her dummies a bit now for a bit of relief. So I have been making a habit of putting some bonjela on her gums before popping her dummy in and it seems to be helping.
For example last night she spat her dummy out a couple of times and I still had to go and put it in her mouth, but yet when I woke up at 7am this morning it was out of her mouth altogether and she was dead to the world.. lol
Thanks Emma. I may give that a try. I think he's getting ready for teething as the already very dribbly bubby is even more dibbly (didn't think that was possible) and he's shoving the whole dummy in his mouth practically. We gave him a frozen teething toy today & he loved it. He slept well last night but it was a long road to getting him to sleep... a very frustrating evening for us.
We are off to Lakes Entrance for a few nights. Looking forward to a nice relaxing time & lots of eating out.
How is everyone going?
Josie has been eating a little bit of food today, I have been giving it to her when she wakes up and doesn't want a bottle. Most of it ends up on her face anyway so I'm not concerned that I'm getting her into any bad habits or anything...
Hope your little munchkins are doing well!
Gee it's quiet in here.
Emma - that sounds like fun. We think we will give Brock some baby rice soon. He woke us twice on our holiday in the middle of the night for food so I reckon it could be time for solids. He's also been feeding more often but that could just have been the hot weather.
Brock can now put his dummy back in his mouth so we aren't having as much disruption when he takes it out. Sometimes at night he can't get it back in but during the day he pretty much always can. He's also very good at holding his bottle suddenly. He's growing up so quickly.
We had a great little holiday. The weather was beautiful. We had a waterfront unit & got to feed swans right outside our door. One evening we had 17 black swans to ourselves. It was so peaceful & restful. Just what we needed.
Haha, I love watching Josie trying to put her dummy in her mouth. Sometimes she likes to show off and take it out and put it back in again numerous times. Pretty amusing. I also like it when she gets it to her mouth but has it the wrong way... and then she had that look like "Yeah, I totally meant to do that".. hehehe!!
Glad to hear you had a nice break. I'm thinking about seeing if Luke's parents want to have bubba for a couple of days over Christmas and then go away for a little break. We would have been together for five years as of Boxing Day this year!
I'm sure you wont have any problem with those baby sitting arrangements. They'll jump at the chance for sure. DF just suggested a night in Lorne next week so we might be off again. It will be his last week off before starting shiftwork so we want to make the most of it.
I just fed Brock & he is just so good at holding that bottle - he pretty much fed himself with a couple of drops & screams after he dropped it. I just can't believe how quickly they go from holding it and dropping it after a couple of seconds to being able to hold it for a couple of minutes before dropping it.
It is very quiet in here. Taylor does the same thing with her dummy. She is getting very distracted while eating now so although she holds her bottle she wants to look at something new every 2 minutes so it falls out.
Its DP's bday this week and although he got a wii for his bday from us I want to be able to give him something on the day but I cant find anything small.
Anyways nothing really exciting to report on this end. Looking for work and finding it really hard to get a 3 days a week job. Taylor is good, squealing and laughing sleeping right now.
My mum's been back in hossy. At first we were worried her cancer might be back as something was showing on xrays on her lungs. They then thought it might be legionnaire's disease but now they seem to think she might just have had a really nasty infection of some sort. We are banned from visiting her as she doesn't want Brock catching it. It's been so hard not being able to see her. We couldn't even call her for the first couple of days as she was kept in emergency & they wont let you talk to people when they are in there. She's feeling heaps better today so hopefully all wil turn out well.
I switched formulas on Sat night as we ran out & my sciatica was giving me hell after a day out in the city & Safeway had run out of Karicare AR. I tried the HA-AR version and for 48 hours he didn't chuck at all. I thought it was a miracle but the next day he started to chuck a little so I don't think it's any different to the AR afterall. His poos are awful - runny & smelly - so I think I'll be switching back to AR.
Thats no good about your mum. How is she now?? Have you been able to see her yet??
Not much to report here. Still looking for work grrrr finding good part time jobs is so hard.
Taylor has taken to throwing a tanti when she doesnt get her way.... particularly at bedtime (never at naptime only at night) where she throws her arms around, does silent screams and then ends up gagging. We end up having to pick her up but generally I sit in the rocking hair with her for 5 minutes and then she will go back in and sleep. Dunno why she has taken to doing this all of a sudden.
Yes we finally got to see her on Sunday night. She's finally out of hospital. She now has to go have a load of tests so she may not be out of the woods yet. My dad has been sick too so he's getting tests too. I so hate my parents getting old. It's just awful.
Taylor's tantis don't sound like much fun. Good luck with getting those under control.
We switched back to AR formula on Sat but now Brock is chucking a lot again so I think we will have to stick with the HA-AR & put up with the mega smelly poos. His skin had cleared up really well & now it's starting to go bad again so I'll be out today to get the HA-AR again.
Sorry ladies I have been MIA.
I have never been so busy and am busy trying to get organised before for go away AGAIN!, as from next week actually. We got back a weekish ago from Mackay and have had so much to do Ie: paperwork, xmas pressies, staff breakup, packing and unpacking etc.... etc... etc.... and with kids sick, everything has been such a slow slow process. So this is a summary of what has been happening with us:
* Riley has chickenpox (arggghhh) - poor darlin
* Lachlan was vomitting and itching his tummy a week ago
* I have had vomitting and dirreha (felt like I was dying - Wade had to close the shop to look after me and the boys)
* Appts in Mackay for the boys went well - lachlan's perferated eardrum is now all healed over but Riley still has his heart murmour
* Riley has been feeding much better, not gr8, but it is a huge improvement - no screaming - YAY. I have started him on solids and he is still on LOSEC
* Riley is not sleeping thru anymore (but he is still sick too)
* My milk has dropped off since being sick last week, as I couldn't even keep icecubes down, Doc gave me script for motillium to increase my supply again
* Lachlan is speaking so well atm
* Lachlan's tt is still a disaster, he cannot start and stop weeing on demand at all, not sure what to do next.
* Riley finally takes to the bottle YAY
Anyway I am away on holidays from next Friday. Taking Lachlan to the Wiggles concert and then to Dreamworld also. Should be fun.
We get back on Boxing Day.
Just been so busy lately, and it is so unlike me not to be on the computer, but I am so pushed for time atm, so I apologise ladies.
Hope everyone is well. Can't wait for my bubba to be happy again!!!!
heya
just a quickie as I am so tired & it's so late!
That's no good about your mum Satya - glad to hear you have seen her. Blessings to both your parents! hope they have great health soon! I know what you mean - my parents are aging so much now and there is always something health-wise going on. My mum had to have one of her kidneys out this time last year and it turned out to have a cancer in it - luckily had no spread and hadn't gotten out of the kidney walls.
Oh sheeree!!! Poor little Riley - poor Lachlan & poor you!!!!!! How did your DP manage to not get it ?? lucky guy! Hope Riley gets over it very quickly! Keep persisting with Lachlan's tt. From friends I have heard it is often something that comes a lot later for boys. Plus the dads need to do alot of the work with that one. Charli has a heart murmur too. The paed reckons it's an innocent but she still has it. Here's hoping they go away! Hope your supply improves! I am sure it will! You holiday sounds fantastic! Have a wonderful time & hope you get some good relaxation in there!!!!
Smudgie - I know what you mean about finding it hard to get a good part time job. I remember finding the same thing when I went back to work after Liv. GOOD LUCK!!! May be the new year will bring good jobs up for you if you haven't gotten something by then!
There's a mouse in our house.. NOT HAPPY. I freaked out when I saw it last night. Plan on getting some traps tomorrow and just use them in the nights while Liv's in bed. Any other bright ideas?
Been trying Charli on solids - she's slowly taking to it. In some ways she isn't really that ready so haven't done it every day. In any case it's had her pooh-ing way more regularly which has made me happy! Her sleeping is still sporadic - not getting full nights much anymore but now and then there are some. Parents took Liv for the whole weekend so we could finally get onto getting her bedroom in order and she can go in the cot this week. Will be interesting but we have warmed her up to it by having her in the basinnette in the lounge room.. and she's fine. Now I just need to go buy a new cot mattress and we'll be right! Liv still having toilet 'accidents' - can only put it down to attention. Thought we'd be well and truly over this by now. :wall:
The weather in melb has been bananas - absolutely freezing on the weekend with hail & storms! And today warm and sunny - quite glorious! ... typical
Feeling the pinch of CHristmas already and I haven't even bought half the presents... it's going to have to be a cheap one this year!
Hope you are all going ok with the lead up to Christmas & I am just babbling now so need to go to bed.
xo
Hi all
Sheree - poor little Riley with the chicken pox. I remember having that as a child and it was horrid. I guess at least being so young it probably wont be remembered. I hope you are all on the mend. Have a great holiday.
Livyloosmum - Oh no - a mouse!!!! We had mice at one stage at my old house. It was getting in behind the gas cooker. We found mouse poo in our griller of all places. Absolutely foul. We put traps down & actually caught one in the griller & I think one behind the cooker. Good luck with it. We haven't made much of a start on Xmas yet. Just a few stocking fillers have been bought for my DstepD & nothing for Brock yet. Don't know what to get him. Our finances are still looking good (didn't think they would be after all this time off work, but they are) so we don't have to stress about it. Interest rates continually going down has been a nice little bonus for us. Melb weather sure has been strange lately. We had our aircon installed on Monday & we had to put our heating on in order to test it out as the house was too cool to get the aircon working!!!! Looking forward to not boiling this summer - last summer nearly killed me.
I've had an email from someone I work with that said that the woman who replaced me at work may be looking for part time work after I come back & that perhaps she & I could job share. I have no idea if my company would be willing to do this nor do I know how many days she'd like etc but it's got me thinking maybe I could go back part time. My DF is earning more money now in his new job so perhaps it would be possible for us to get by with just part time hours from me. Certainly something to think about.
Switched back to HA-AR last night and already Brock's skin is looking better. Not so many chucks either. Yay.
