It has been quite in here for awhile, hasn't it?!
Astrid - Evan is also going beyond his boundries now! I keep finding him slithering up the hallway and into the bathroom. It's so cute when he comes in to the bedroom to find me though!! I'm having a hell of a time keeping him out of the dogs water bowl though!! Everytime i turn around!
Evan hasn't mastered the art of a proper crawl on hands and knees yet (although is quite strong enough), but is getting very fast at the comando style. He is pulling himself up and standing against whatever he can reach now. Its scary watching him! He is getting so confident now - like hanging on with one hand while trying to reach down for something on the floor. He makes me a nervous wreck!! Had a few tumbles, but he's doing well.
He's got his first tooth coming through at the moment. I can see it pushing up through his gums, and can feel its quite sharp, but it hasn't broken through yet. It doesn't look pearly white yet - just a shadowy kind of thing. Is that normal? Evan seems to appreciate the bongela, and his tounge has been hanging out his head the past few days!! He looks so funny!
Hows everyone else? Any new milestones to report?!
-
Nothing much happening this end. Makenzie has 6 teeth now, is still commando crawling but she's mastered the art of that and moves around really fast - although the foot she pushes off with has a huge blister on it from the carpet.
She's just starting to pull up on things herself now, but only things that are low down. She can stand against the lounge etc if we put her there but she hasn't tried to pull up on that yesterday. She was so proud of herself yesterday as she pulled herself up onto her knees to get into the boys box of Duplo and knelt there for ages playing with it.
She's just started waving "bye bye" now, it's so cute. The boys are constantly saying "bye bye" to her to make her do it so I'm sure she doesn't really understand what it means coz they say it to her all the time. She also likes to "dance" when she's sitting, bounces herself up and down to music.
She also knows what her boundaries are and breaks them. If we forget to shut a bathroom door she is off at 100 miles an hour to try and get in there before we stop her. Same with things she is not meant to touch - she crawls over there then looks at us with that naughty look and tries to touch it.
She had jelly a couple of days ago for the first time - the boys made some and I gave her some to try and she loved it.
Anyway, better go, she's whinging. Good to hear from you Astrid and Linds

Talk about testing boundaries! Maggie just crawled out the back door! Can't keep it closed, I need to keep it open for the cats. Looks as though we need to unseal the catflap. Got the gate for the kitchen, she seems to be a bit confused by it, along with the cats, poor things, it is such a shock for them.
Good to hear from you LG & Lisa. They do look so proud of themselves when they finally do something new.

Where is everyone? Its awfully quiet in here lately, is everyone far to busy with their bubs to get online now???
-
I'm here Bel, how's Coby doing these days?
-
Hey Bec, Coby is going well, running around in his walker, chasing the dog at the moment. How's Jonah? Getting bigger everyday? Don't they grow up too quickly.....
I've got the sads because we're coming up to Coby's first birthday - well its a couple of months away yet but Im still sad that he's grown up way to quickly and this year has flown.....
-
So good to hear :D Yeah Jonah's huge now. Crawling about and just starting to try and pull himself up on the coffee table.
Awwww you poor thing, I am the opposite. I'm loving watching Jonah grow and do new things, I can't wait until his first birthday, I've already started planning :D I agree the time has gone quickly, it only seems like yesterday that I had him.
-
he he Bec, I've already started planning Coby's first birthday party too, Im excited for that, but not that he's growing up way too quickly, all too soon he'll be off to school etc.....
-
Hi Brooke, just thinking about having a family and very close friends party at our house. Coby has a couple of little friends that we go to mothers group etc with, so they will be invited, just something small so he doesn't get too overwhelmed....
Are you going to do something for Maya, if so what are you thinking?
No Macca's parties yet Im sure - tee he he!! ;)

Hello!
I'm still around too! Although have been away for the past few days. Went up the york penninsula for a few days - our first holiday with Evan! It was a really peaceful and relaxing time away which was just what i needed! Evan slept beautifully in the portacot (actually better than the average night at home).
Hows everyones sleeping going? We seem (touch wood) to be coming to the end of a rough patch! Wasn't too bad, but Evan did go from sleeping 8-10 hours without any intevention to needing to be resettled and/or fed 2-3 times a night. The past week he's slept from 7pm through to around 4am, feed and back to sleep until about 6-6.30am.
My biggest problem at the moment is Evan is BITING me! Really bad - he's made my nipples bleed on a few occassions now and i'm so tense when i'm feeding him now because i'm waiting to be in agony. my nipples have been sore all day today. And what really annoys me is when i tell people they LAUGH and say it's time to stop feeding him :-k I don't want to stop feeding him yet, and they wouldn't laugh if someone was making their nipples bleed!!!!!! OK, sometimes i can see a light hearted view, but ouchy ouchy ouchy!!!!!!!!! So, anyway he has his first tooth cut through.
Evan has had a few BIG projectile spews in the last week and i've been half expecting AF to arrive, but nothing yet. Its not after every BF though - if it was hormonal, would he be ill after every feed? Otherwise i think it might be related to his sniffly nose that he's had for a few days.
He has well and truely mastered the art of the 'proper' baby crawl on hands and knees and is pulling himself up on everything he can possibly reach! He's soooooo active, can't keep him still for a few minutes. Today he walked around the coffee table twice!
Brookey - Evan's eyes are both blue but in the left eye on the inside (close to his nose) he's got a little brown patch. its just a freckle. Really cute actually!!
I'm looking forward to Evan's first birthday too although i have no idea what to do for it! Winter birthday parties :-k oh dear! I also am enjoying this time - i reckon it's the best stage he's been through so far. I love all the interaction. He claps and waves now, and laughs all day! He's just so happy. Oh, i love him soooooo much!! he's so adorable!! hee hee!! :p he's saying "daa daaa" but i don't think he knows what he's saying. Can't get him to say "maaa maaa" yet - i'll keep trying!!!! Lots of lovely chatter though. its gorgeous!
Oh sorry this has turned into an essay! I'll shut up now!!

Grrr wish i hadn't written that about sleeping until 4am!! Last night Evan was up for a feed at 1am and 5am, then up for the day at 6am!

Still here as well. I have still been working on getting Maggie into a nighttime ritual. I have had some success, but there is still a long way to go.
Her mobility and curiosity can be a bit much at times, she is in to everything she shouldn't be and sometimes hurting herself in the effort. I must remember she is stronger than she looks. Her latest game now is to lurch backwards when we are holding her, we have worked out that she likes to be held upside down.
She has 4 teeth now, 2 eye and 2 front bottom, so she is still chewing on everything, including chunks of concrete she finds in the backyard.
Good to hear everyone is doing well. Oh, forgot, we have the family flying in for Maggie's birthday. Not sure what we will do, as we normally like barbeques. Must get thinking. I know our MG is just going to hold 1 party for all the kids.

Hello everyone - can I pop back in here? It has been about 7 months since I have posted as life has been a tad hectic!
Baby Finlay is 10months now and it absolutely gorgeous....he is still breastfed and growing like crazy.
I haven't caught up with everyone's news (and I'm not sure if you all remember me) but it would be great to touch base with you all again
Brooke - Maya has grown so much - what an angel! Hope that you are well and still loving motherhood!
Looking forward to speaking with you all again
Lots of love

Have also added a couple of new pics of Finlay to the website....

Hi Megan, welcome back to you and Finlay. Life is hectic huh! Its only going to get worse now that they are moving around a lot.
Sorry guys, only got time to quickly pop in and say hi, hope you are all going well and I'll catch up again soon....

Hello there! Kate - oh my god - another baby...CONGRATULATIONS! That is great news...oooohh I wish I was pregnant - just not the right timing for us as I started a new job 3 months ago...I am so thrilled for you. How are you feeling??? Kelsey is lovely......so cute!
Hi Belmarks - thanks for the welcome back. I have been working practically fulltime since Finlay was 3 months old, so hectic is an understatement...looking forward to this long weekend to relax. Just loving motherhood though and look forward to baby number 2! Your baby is gorgeous BTW!
Better dash - my little man is all over the house....need to clean the floor...the house is just never clean!

HAppy Easter to everyone...Brooke - great to be back in touch after all this time! Yes working and motherhood is difficult - my juggling skills are improving all the time! Lucky Adam is on the ball and helps out a lot..What is Maya's sleeping pattern now?
Thanks for the compliments on baby Finlay - he is a large boy and is growing all the time...
Can I ask a question? Sorry if you have already discussed this - but do you all cook seperate food for bubs or are they up to eating what you do? Also I am having trouble with breakfast items - all of a sudden Finlay doesn't want to eat the baby cereal, wheatbix or porridge - do you have any suggestions?
Hope that the Easter Bunny was good to everyone!

Megan!! Welcome back :D Saw your username come up & just had to pop in and post. I've often wondered how you & Finlay were going. Love the latest pics! Finlay is sooo cute and has grown up so much. Isn't it amazing how quickly the time has gone by!? Doesn't seem like so long ago when were were in the Belly Buddies thread together. Hope to catch up around the forums :)

Hi Megan, welcome back! I came back just a few weeks ago too.
CONGRATULATIONS Kate on your pregnancy! Wow! I also wish i was pg again now - cluckiness starting to set in esp as i went to the hospital to visit my cousin who just had a baby girl yesterday. Made me realise how far we'd come! I have no sign of AF yet so another pregnancy might be a while off for me yet :( Not that there was any sign of AF before i got pg (Evan was a clomid baby)!
Evan is still waking once or twice during the night. Usually the first waking i can rock him for a couple of mins and pop him back in the cot, but the second waking i usually feed him and often he'll stay in bed with me, as he'll sleep in longer with me! I'm beginning to think though it's time to start not feeding him during the night. I'm sure its just comfort sucks. Has anyone been down this line? I don't mean CC or anything, just rocking him back to sleep again (and again and again probably!) until he gets the hang of it. Could be in for a long haul! is it worth it? Any thoughts?
Evan is cruising around all the furniture now all the time. Can't seem to keep his bottom on the floor for more than a few mins now! He's very active and 'in to' everything!!! He is very very cute though - i love how he waves and claps and laughs and shakes his head!! He's just at a lovely stage now. Really enjoying being his mummy! :hbeat:
wow, sorry about the essay - didn't mean it to turn out quite that long! Hope everyone has had a good Easter.

Thanks Brooke, I might try the water thing tonight! Last night was a disaster! When Evan woke at 11pm I decided to rock him back to sleep. He went fine, but everytime i put him down in the cot he woke up again. So i repeated the process again and again until i'd had enough at 1am and i took him into our bed and fed him - he then slept until 7am. DH isn't thrilled about having Evan in bed with us, but he'll put up with it especially on nights like last night. Evan won't drink from a bottle, but tonight i think i'll try giving him water in a sippy cup if he won't go back to sleep in his cot after the first round of rocking!
-
Thanks Brooke! Evans day sleeps aren't too bad. He has 2 sleeps during the day, usually around 9.30-11am and then 2.30-3.30pm. Except on days where we have to go out like today and they all get muddled up! Usually he's pretty good though. I always feed him to sleep, sometimes he'll still wake after one cycle and it's obvious he's not ready to get up so he usually does a quick burp and have a little rock/cuddle and he'll go back for another cycle.
-
Hello Angel!! Wow - great to hear from you and look at a little Kynan! Time does fly you are right and I see on your ticker you are trying to make baby number 2? That is great news......please keep us posted so that I can get excited for you as I would love to be in your shoes! I often thought about you guys as well but was in a horendous place in my last job and just wasn't functioning very well! Felt so stressed that I thought that I was getting depression....but that is another story...please keep in touch! Are you still breastfeeding?
Hi LG - good to hear from you again too! Hope that the sleeping thing gets better with Evan. Little Finlay slept through at 10 weeks, but he can now wake 2-3 times a night as his dummy falls out! Adam paves the way to his bedroom to put it back in thank god! I really regret having a dummy - will try and avoid it with number 2. Let us know how the plan with the water goes...
Brooke - I missed you too! Totally thrilled that we are back in touch - I look forward to seeing little Maya grow into a little princess....she is such a good sleeper! I would kill for a 2 hour break in teh afternoon..Finlay wakes at about 5am (which suits as I have to go to work) and then goes down for another sleep at his nanny's place at 7am for 1-2 hours and then goes down again at lunchtimt for another 1-2 hours and then that is it!! He goes to bed at 6pm though so this is a good thing...I really don't think that he is getting enough sleep though as sometimes he can be a little cranky.
I make all of Finlay's food as well - I have tried toast (he does like it) but ate all of his cereal this morning (it is still the baby cereal as he really doesn't like 'grown up' ones!) Hopefully this will change soon....
Better dash - a glass of red wine is waiting for me!
Speak to you all soon
Megan
-
Hi girls, just quickly popping in to say I haven't forgotten you all, just busy, will be back real soon tho....
-
YEY HAPPY 10 MONTHS MAYA!!!! =D> =D>
Can't believe how quickly they are all growing up!! We'll be sending them off to school soon! LOL!
I actually just pulled down an huge bag of hand-me-downs for Evan that i'd put away refusing to believe he'd ever be THAT big and they fit him! Some stuff is even too small :-k . Got some really lovely designer clothes from much better off than us cousins!! LOL!
I went to have Evans feet fitted for shoes yesterday. I didn't get any in the end. His feet are too big for pre-walkers, and i can't see him really needing the walkers just yet except maybe for warmth and getting used to something on his feet. What is everyone else's thoughts on shoes? I do think that getting properly fitted and wearing good shoes are important for their developing back, and walking development etc. Just not sure if to wait until he is actually walking unaided.
Anway, he is doing laps of my chair and letting me know that its time for a feed and sleep.

Hi all,
Just popping in quickly to say I'm still around, been reading all the posts, it's just by the time I read them all I don't get a chance to reply as usually one of the kids needs attention!
MEGAN! Welcome back! Good to hear from you!
About shoes - even when they first start to walk they recommend barefoot if possible, or very soft shoes. Makenzie has a couple of pairs of these soft shoe bootie things that were bought in Woolworths. They are just soft material with elastic around the ankle bit and that soft non-slip padding stuff on the bottom. She's got a couple of pairs in the 12-18 month size. You can also get socks with the "grip" soles on them. The bootie things are thick enough for use outside too.
Kenzie is doing well, cruising furniture and trying to stand on her own. Cracks me up coz she lets go and stands for a couple of seconds then gets a panicked look on her face and grabs the furniture again. Think it will be a while before she walks though. Both my boys were walking at this age, but I'm glad she's not walking yet!
Anyway, better go, someone is coming here at 11am to pick up some stuff and of course I need to go to the loo so no doubt the doorbell will ring while I'm in there LOL! Will try and get on later and do personals - DH has gone to Melbourne today so I'm home alone with the 3 kids, the boys are so hyped up today - that'll teach me to let them have Froot Loops for breakfast!
-
Brooke, that's great that the naturopath has been able to sort your thryoid out! The thyroid has a huge impact on your general wellbeing doesn't it! I'm on meds ATM to control mine. The specialist wants us to complete our family in the next 2-3 years so I can have radioactive iodine treatment for it so we are desperately TTC!
Megan, I'm so glad that things are going better for you now in relation to work. That's awesome that Finlay is still BF too, especially with you having to work. Well done!! Kynan is still BF as well (loves the boobies LOL) and usually has 2 full feeds + 2 snacks per day.
