I think the MiVitality products will do you the world of good Simone! And your children if you can hide it in their juice! I've been taking it for a few months now and honestly feel HEAPS better on the days I take it.
Oooh 23'C Yippeee! My fav temperature! :)
Bummer Mel, i could have popped over! I'll let u know next time i'm out that way.
i used to work In Bayswater!
i seemed to have done something to my back. I remember getting this pain in pregnancy and i was going to the osteo. it feels like a pinch and very bottom of my spine. S**t it hurts being over, picking Nixon up etc, suppose to go to the gym tonight (dh coming home early so i can go) but not that i wanna get out of it but dont think i will do my back any good.
WHat do you mean, on the days you take it?? And why do some start straight on fastrac then go to enliven and others just go straight to enliven??
I figure if im going to do this on my own, im gonna need a pick me up...
ETA - nic, take it easy, you dont want to do anything more to hurt your back... maybe a night off the gym, and DH can do all the heavy work so you can rest your back?? hope it gets better soon...
Hi there,
Having a bit of a lazy day today. DF and I went to town and did the groceries and got Lachlans photo taken with Santa, he wouldnt smile though, we tried so hard but he is just sitting there looking stunned! its quite funny actually!!
Had an argument with DF about Lachlan (for a change!) he cant understand why other peoples babies sleep through the night but lachlan wont. I dont have the answers for him, i dont know what to say but he keeps hinting that maybe its something that im doing and it makes me so angry because im doing the same thing ive been doing since canberra but he is slowing slipping back into the old routine of frequent waking in the night and cat naps through the day. I just dont know what else i can do!!
Im so sick of DF being grumpy all the time, i feel like im walking on egg shells with him!
Simone - Chin up luv! you will find a beautiful man who will love and cherish you and your three kids!!
Simone: like I posted in the InLiven thread: I can't afford to take it daily... plus I usually eat a very balanced and healthy diet so I generally take it about every third day... or when i really need it, like when i feel a cold coming on... it really seems to nip that in the bud. Some days when I'm feeling run down I take it 3 times... other days not at all... i think it's ok to match usage to when you feel like you need it. I can't afford $65 dollars a month which is what you'd pay if you took 3 heaped teaspoons of it like they recommend.
ETA: show him this thread Dee... our babies don't all sleep through the night. It's perfectly NORMAL for them not to sleep through the night.
Thanks Bath - i think i should show him this, friends of ours had a baby a week earlier than me and another couple had a baby in August and both of theirs are sleeping about 12 hours through the night and im sick of hearing about it. He talks to them often and its all they talk about is how good their babies are!!
Nic - i think a night off from the gym is in order tonight, take it easy and rest your back, back pain is the worst!!
OH forgot to say Bath - i love that photo of Niall in the santa hat!!!!
ATM i dont care what it costs, even though i eat a good diet, i have no energy, and need something. I also have low iron levels, my body just doesnt absorb much regardless of how much meat or spinach or anything i eat, or which much freshly squezzed orange juice i drink... It'll be a treat for me anyway :) I need one of those...
And tell your DH dee that Declan didnt sleep through until about 15 months, and he's 21 months now and still wakes up some nights... thats the joys of parenting!!
Dee - this whole time with Oscar I think I can count 3 sleep-throughs. We know that it's just one of those things, some kids sleep, some don't. He has got to trust you because you are the only mummy Lochie has and you are only ever going to do what you believe is best for him. I would hate to walk on eggshells around here - bad enough that that is what I do with my mum!
Great news, Simone! I'm doing a little woo-hoo dance here for you :) You know you are better off with no male company than the kind of male company soon-to-be XH has to offer. I'm not saying it's easy, but look at it this way, I was 27 when I met DP and before that I had one serious boyfriend. For most of that relationship he was in Ireland and I was here! Aside from that, I slept alone all my life until DP came along...it is possible to live a viable life, forging your own identity, without a fella :) I would also venture to say that this time will be good for you to explore what you think you are about and then you will be better placed to sort out the good eggs from the bad eggs.
The pool was lovely, even if it was shared with older school kids - at least I left before the after school rush! My SIL didn't make it, but she was going to go when the older kids got home from school so they could all go together.
Bath and Mel - those dinners sound lovely! I'm offering left overs tonight, with a fresh salad LOL! But all homemade, surely that counts?
Going to check out this contentious thread!
Dinner, whats that?? Over here... nothing. Anneliese just had a feed and is asleep, Xander just threw up again, so nothing for him, and Declan's gone with XH to FIL's place. Its too hot to cook for just me, so ill munch on something later... im not feeling that great atm anyway.
IK - so jealous of you at the pools, no swimming for this little black duck for a while...
Nic - would love to have you over next time you are out this way. Working in Bayswater, you will know the area. Maybe give gym a miss, don't want to aggravate a sore back. Too hot anyway LOL!!!
Simone - forget men for the moment! One of my really close friends was married with 3 kids (all boys, twins were 4 and other was 6) and she left her husband and spent many years on her own. She met an absolutely fantastic man a few years ago, they married and she now has a 3 year old daughter and a 2 month old daughter. Her sons are now 15 & 17, so it took her a long time to met someone, but she has certainly met the right one! He had no kids, but willingly took on her and her 3 sons. They are the most wonderful boys, very well spoken and love their mum to death. She has done a great job of essentially raising them on her own. You don't need a man to make you a whole person. Use this time to focus on you and the kids and maybe find something that you really want to do. I have no doubt, you will so much better off and so will the kids. If there is anything I can do, just call. You have been very brave and strong through this, so keep it up and remember, keep smiling!!!! For energy, try berocca - I take one every few days and it works a treat! But makes your wee flourescent yellow (sorry TMI!!!!)
Dee - as the others say, all babies are different. Maybe your DH needs to talk to other mums whos kids don't sleep as I know there are plenty of them around. I think its more the "norm" for them not to sleep through, I hear so many stories about it particularly from friends. Don't doubt yourself, you are doing everything you can. Lachlan will sort himself out soon enough, just hang in there.
Jess - hope the fires aren't near you. It must be awfully dry out your way?
Bath - I love tandoori chicken! Good meal idea for a hot night. Salad for us, thankfully Chelsea loves lettuce, tomato and olives!!! Thank god for a cooler day tomorrow. Glad the fenugreek worked - I think I still have some here so if you need somemore let me know. It was expensive and I would hate it to go to waste. It's tablet form but I know you were using the powdered one.
IK - sounds like fun at the pool. Leftovers are so yummy and taste that much better second time around!
Took Chelsea to MIL place for a swim, she has a nice pool but not heated. Chelsea doesn't care, she just jumps in and I am so amazed at how good she can swim. The lessons are certainly paying off. I couldn't be bothered going in so I just dangled my legs and even dipped Marleys legs in - she thought it was pretty nice. DH came after his course finished and had a quick dip. Wonder when this cool change will hit? Soon I hope. Lucky we have air-con!
Back later - child to shower.
Rory: Just noticed your Av has a transparent back ground... looks much better hey? LOL I wonder if Kath saw my post about putting a shiny sink as your background and decided to fix the white one before another request was placed! ha!
Well I'm chillin' out with a martini... going down very nicely... just one mind... I wouldn't wan't Niall to grow too fond of Martini flavoured milk... he'll like the tandoori though when it arrives... I reckon that's why Wade has such a preference for spicy and unusual flavoured foods... he would have had a good variety of flavours too when I BF him.
Ok... Niall asleep for the evening... he'll probably wake at about 10 - 11pm for a shower and top up.... now Wade... gotta catch the little rascal... he's flying around the house on the last of a sugar fix... he's sooo over tired after the party and heat today....
The fires are approx. 80 kms away from us. FAr enough away to not be a threat but close enough that you can smell the smoke and have it descend over you.
They have locked the thread over there on solids....lol
Its so darn hot, i went to put xander in his room, and because of the afternoon sun which beats directly onto that area, its boiling down there... i ended up covering the lounge with towels and put him on there. I had a bed set up next to my bed, but he just threw up all over that... its gotta end soon!!
eta - i noticed they locked the thread too... it was getting a bit out of hand, thats why i stopped posting. I said my bit, that was enough.
I'm going to use your anecdote, Bath, in the back of my mind when I compose this letter I will read at tomorrow's meeting. Still haven't decided if I'll pull the motion, but regardless, I will write this letter and read it out. I've also been thinking in terms of wider membership and appeal. Good one, thanks!
Pity about the other thread. Sometimes there are people who 'put up their dukes' from the get go and assume everyone is throwing punches. It's unfortunate that people don't realise there is no need to be so defensive :( Usually, I have noticed, when someone starts to get defensive and/or derogatory and lashes out at others, that's when threads go pearshaped. I love BB because the moderators and admin insist on being respectful of other people's approaches to parenting and birth. BB seems to support my own agenda of empowerment and I'm more than happy to be pulled up by a moderator if I contravene the ethic of the site! So far, this has only happened once, so we'll see how my record goes over time LOL!
Mmmm, stirfry the second time round is certainly a winner!
OMG i feel so nauseous... i think i may be getting the gastro the kids have got... i thought i escaped it. Sitting in bed on the laptop with a bucket... ewww
Bugger, Sim! Things are going to come good and when they do you will appreciate it that much more! Got any ginger? or suck on ice?
Ice cream tonight... Ooh, that reminds me. I must use my Flybuys points to get that icecream maker...and then look up that breastmilk icecream recipe you were telling me about, Simone!
No rain in tonight's change has been forecast. It could at least rain if it's going to get cooler!!
No hard and fast plans for tomorrow, so I think I'll go see my horse - it's been weeks and weeks since my last visit (your penance is 3 hail mary's...) and chuck a light sheet over him to preserve his colour (so vain, but I love his liver chestnut colour before the sun bleaches it!).
Eat more salad THEN think about icecream...
Simone - hope the bug doesn't get you! Keep that bucket handy - just in case. Hope I didn't offend you before with what I said - I get a bit over passionate about some things, sorry!
Bath - you and those martini's, they sound so good! I could go a nice fruity daquari right now, super cold. Hasn't cooled down much here - wish it would.
IK - you will make the right decision. Hope it all goes well. Ice-cream would be nice too, we have a Cold Rock ice-cream shop near here and it's very tempting!!!
Been going through all my catalogues (I love catalogue Tuesdays!!!) and marking off stuff for xmas. Target has a huge 48 page catalogue with lots of kids stuff on sale.
Howdy all - god it is hot! We have a/c but DH turned it off - think I will put it back on again.
Mel, well said!DH is so good - Flynn won't sleep (woke up with drenched sheets from sweating twice) so he has taken him for a walk in the pram to return some DVDs. Gosh I love him :):
You don't need a man to make you a whole person. Use this time to focus on you and the kids and maybe find something that you really want to do.
About to retire to bed with my Steven King novel... our bedroom is in the older/cooler part of the house fortunately. Just had a shower with Niall. Did the "Niall, ready, Go!" thing before dunking him under the water... i reackon i saw him squint this time... i say it nearly every shower... I meant to say Good on you Nic for getting Nixon so familiar and confident in the water... so that's Nixon and Oscar who have had the underwater experience... anyone else, sorry if I missed someone. And thanks Dee for the Santa photo compliment :) speaking of photos and showers: I found a series of photos of Wade as a small baby with me under the shower like the ones on Niall's website... talk about Deja vu! I'll post them soon on Wade's site... soooo similar!
Simone: hope you feel better by morning and that by some amazing act of divine grace all your children sleep through the night! :)
Sweet dreams girls!
Good night ladies, I hope to hear from you all tomorrow.
Well, i had an absolutely rotten night. Xander is still sick, and threw up about 3 times last night, Anneliese kept kicking herself out of her wrap, and i didnt want to feed her (dont need to pass gastro on) so i gave her a bottle... she still woke up twice. I spent the night cuddled up to my bucket, my stomach is burning and my throat feels yuck from so much chucking... When are things going to get better for me?? (sorry, just feeling sorry for myself...)
IK - the bm recipe is in the food/recipes part of BB...
BBS... feeling bad again...
Just a quick one I've got DH to connect the old PC it's sooo slow, but it's just temporary.
Simone hope you feel better soon, nothing worse then having gastro, I'm glad you've made your decision about your relationship, it will all work itself out in the end, you'll see and one day you will meet the right man for you.
hugs xoxo
Thanks amanda
Where's everyone hiding today?? Im just cruising ebay, trying to find king single sheets for xanders bed... cant wait until i can afford a new bed for him!! get a normal single bed, sheet are much cheaper...
Morning Girls,
How beautiful is it outside, so nice and cool! Quiet day for me today, Chelsea is at kinder and I use this day to do my housework. Marley is in bed so I will get stuck into it.
Simone - sorry to hear you got the bug too! There was a big news story about a milk recall and it has been recalled due to it causing a gastro bug! Maybe you guys drank it? I didn't catch all the brands affected but I heard them mention Safeway brand and one of Pura's. Been trying to check the web to see if I can find it. The new year is not far away - hang in there and the new year will be a new beginning for you.
Rory - DH is so sweet - would have been a beautiful night for a walk last night.
Might quickly read the paper, then start housework! Will pop back later.
Oh crap. Was the long life milk affected?? i've been using that lately, as we arent drinking a lot of milk... I thought it may be weird, as noone else i know had gastro in the last month or so, or has it now...
I checked it out, apparently its only NSW AND ACT but how else would i get gastro??
Good morning :)
Simone: gastro can be easily transmitted by simply touching a surface such as a door handle that another sufferer has touched. For example: you might visit MacDonalds, buy some chips, open the door to exit, eat a chip without washing your hands and in pops the bug. If your immune system is already weak then the bug will multiply and you have gastro. If your system is strong then your body will produce enough white blood cells to eliminate the bug. Stress makes an immune system weak. Best advice is to drink heaps of water to flush it out of your system. Hope you feel better soon darl.
gotta get back to it... being a very good FlyLady today!
I thought back if it did happen to affect vic, i bought safeway brand milk last week, i went in to grab nappies and grabbed milk on the way out. Grrr... going to call the hotline on the way out (damn dial up)
Just relaxing with some weak tea, havent put anything into my belly since yesterday morning. Sooo hungry, but dont want to risk being sick again... will wait until later to think about food...
Morning all!
Oscar woke up on the right side of the bed again - all smiles, he is ridiculous!
Simone, I would have thought it would be even safer to BF Anneliese because the milk comes straight out of a safe environment, whereas formula/EBM preparation gives germies plenty of opportunity to get into her system. Now, I'm no authority on it, but that's what I would have thought to begin with...I might check that out. Especially as BM is full of white blood cells that formula isn't and it could be the perfect barrier against gastro for her? The less exposure her food has to a gastro environment, the better, is my line of thinking on that one :)
Another good night's sleep for us - this co-sleeping caper is a winner!
This house has retained a nice amount of heat and it's quite pleasant in here. Wonder what it's like outside...
Just found the most disgusting thing. There was a fly in my olive oil spread...it's been there a while and there where either fly or other insect tracks on the surface, eewww! DP has a bad habit of making himself toast all day long and leaving the container lid off. This HAS to stop! It was new, too, so the whole lot just got thrown out, grrrr.
Well, better eat my toast while Oscar is happy on the floor and not needing seeing to...
Thanks bath, i didnt realise that... going to clean all walls and surfaces down today then, so we dont get it again just from touching a surface... Feeling a little better after a cuppa, still not going to risk it with food... Dont have any bread anyway. (only eat toast when im sick, bland food is good)
Bath your such a good girl. I tidyed up yesterday morning, and Aurora did my dishes and cleaned my kitchen for me. WHat a sweetie. :D Said it was a novelty doing dishes, as she has a dishwasher. *sigh* would be nice...
FInally my centrelink money has come in (wont clear until tomorrow) the kids $600 supplement. SO if im better, going to pay off the kids layby's (will have to take XH to help as they have some big stuff) and have to find them a bunk bed i can separate... Sick of trying to find king single sheets for Xander bed!! WIll give it to XH to put in his new place, when he gets one. He has offered to let me keep the house, with the majority of the stuff in it.
IK - when i had gastro last year, declan was about 4 months old, and he ended up with gastro too, and i was fully bf, no omp feeds or anything... Anneliese threw up her feed last night, but only the one, so im hoping it was just the heat. (And with all the stress, im barely making any milk anymore... must find my domperidone, always makes me make lots more milk...
Hey don't exhaust yourself wiping down all the walls Simone... the bugs don't live for very long without a host... maybe just wipe down the most frequently touched surfaces like cupboard handles, toilet doors etc. Also I tend to agree with IK, BFing would be safer than preparing formula and she would benefit from the added antibodies. If you drink extra water then your supply should increase too.... but you don't want us lecturing you all day LOL Just rest (((hugs)))
Yeah, the stress will have an effect, so if you have little choice, then make sure you dip yourself in white king before touching anything ;)
Also, great news about the house!
hmm must look into this milk thing. I NEVER buy safeway milk but when i did the shopping on Monday i bought the safe way LITE for a change....luckily i dont think we have had any of it yet.
My back is so sore. I have been to see my Osteo friend thismorning, he said i have agrivated a disk in my lower back & its probably inflamed. Did some work on me so hopefully this helps.
It is extremley painful to bend over, sit, lie or going from sitting to lying & vice versa. walking is probably the least uncomfortable so i cant stay sitting for long.
Typically Nixon woke about 3.30am and wanted to play, after i struggled to get out of bed and settle him i got DH up, thankfully no tanty from him he just did it! Last night he was wonderful to, so i will need his help over the next few nights but during the day its a bit hard not to bend over and pick Nixon up etc.......
We are drawing up a child custody plan, XH wants the kids as much as he can, and we are sorting out child support atm. The only things he will have to take is he wants the bed (says he doesnt want me being with another man in it) and one of the couches. We're going to share the prams and portacot (i use the portacot during the day for anneliese so the boys dont annoy her on tummy time or anything.) I ran out of bleach cleaning the bathroom yesterday, and must get some more disinfectant this arvo... I've so had it with sickness, im even thinking trying the kids on fasttract and enliven, i dont car about the costs, i just want a healthy household... Oh, and im changing their daycare centre
ETA Nic - i hope your back gets better soon... Thats great DH is helping, gotta love when they just do things without a fight :)
Nic Yeah Bosco was just getting out of hospital in last years final, I can't wait til it's back on.
Simone yeah stress will definately affect your supply. Don't tire yourself out to much or you may have a relapse, hopefully you'll be well enough to go shopping tomrrow.
Ok boys are needing lunch and a nap so will be back later.
ETA lovin been back was having really bad withdrawls  .
hugs xoxo
Simone, sounds like things are travelling relatively ok with XH...fingies crossed it stays that way!
Amanda, glad you are back!
I'd better get dressed and going for the day...
