LOL Mel: our wardrobes are overflowing with clothes too... mainly kids' clothes of every imaginable size and season. Hey with the floor tiles it's always good to have some left over incase one cracks over time. They are easily stashed away under the house for example. Also they often come in handy for other things like building outside entertainment areas (weather resistence bench tops etc) and sandstone is a very versatile colour.
Just got home from shops... warming up... might make an iced coffee instead of my usual cuppa today.
Oh and Nic: thanks for the heads-up regarding the Snugglers nappies 72 for $12.99 !!! A saving of $13.00. They have changed a bit since I last used them with Wade, hopefully for the better.

Bath just a quick one before I go to get the boys, have you done IK's slice with the philly as the iciing yet? If you have how'd it go? And how do you do it cause I'm going to try and do it tonight with the philly on top. I'll be back later.
hugs xoxo

Hi Amanda, regarding the slice icing. No I haven't done it for IK's slice yet but I plan to give it a go. What I'd do is try substituting Philly instead of the tablespoon of butter (or whatever) that's required for standard lemon icing. After beating the icing sugar and Philly together add the fresh lemon juice a few drops at a time until you get the right consistency, probably about half a tablespoon. Add some extra lemon zest too. The ingredients aren't terribly expensive so have a bit of a play... experiment and if you get it right then jot down the quantities. If you do a substitution of Philly for butter then it would also have the added bonus of being lower in calories! :)
ETA: after giving it a little more thought you might want to try adding a drop of vanilla essence for more of a cheesecake flavour... oh and don't be frightened of making it a bit thicker than the standard lemon icing that's on the recipe as that's quite a thin, glaze style icing. You might need to use more icing sugar and substitute more Philly for butter than what that recipe states. LOL I really should just do it myself and post the results!
-
It's a teaspoon of butter...which seems too inconsequential for my liking...bring on the calories ;) I might try the philly thingy too...
I just spent the loveliest afternoon meeting up with some of my mothers group at one of the houses. First of all, GREAT house - nice and old, with a huge verandah area and lovely old windows and shaded with creeping vines...reminded me of a Southern USA house (never been, but you know, movies and all!). We had a lovely spread put out for us (I brought mince pies cos ran out of time to bake cookies, and another mummy brought chicken and yet another brought cake - host mummy made such yummy salads for us)...we feel it's raised the bar before the bar was even up, so a little no fair! Anyway, I had been really looking forward to making this appointment (I'm sure they thought I was fobbing them off the past few weeks) and I'm really fond of our final group now :) I was resistant to the idea of catching up afterwards and thought I might just factor it out of my life, but I think I was being some kind of a snob, based on very little. I've copped onto myself now, for the better.
Mel - if you have left over tiles I could offer you a price for them so that I can smash them up and do a token mosaic for the pizza oven/bbq brickwork? DP thinks it's a pipe dream cos I have so many craft projects in mind or half-started (I won't even say half-finished!), but I think I'll start buying single tiles at a time to gather a stash...and then start smashing and grouting!
Oscar has just exploded in his nappy, so I'd better see to it and then tend to laundry and play with the dog. Catch you all later, hopefully...

Hello all! Finally I have a moment's peace and time to post!!
My FIL is staying with us this week and next (and last week too - he lives in Warragul but is working in Melbourne ATM) so every day I am having fun socialising with him, and MIL stayed over last night. Went to Poyntons (fancy-pants "garden centre" in Essendon - posh but very friendly) with her and her GF for a walk and lunch and only just got home and settled. She has left now, DH is at uni, FIL is at work and boy is asleep. Ahhh peace!!
Amanda - I sent the vids off yesterday - you should get 'em soon.
Bath - OUCH on the boob front! How is Verity going in preparation for school tomorrow? I remember I was soooo nervous....
Mel - it makes such a difference having decent wardrobes - I love our big built-in in our bedroom - I can have all my clothes (summer and winter) in it without having to resort to storage....(And I did get my Flynn time, thanks!)
Nickers - was Dreamgirls good? I would like to see it (I think I have missed our local M&B session) but my chances of seeing it on DVD are about zero cause DH hates musicals.
Jess - great stuff on the leak! Have you heard anything more about the alpacas? When are all your littlies off to school - this week or next?
Ali - here's hoping that the job goes well! DH is thinking of doing teaching but will be a maths/science teacher, so hopefully his job prospects will be ok.
IK - LOL about the dishes! We have a dishwasher but still they get left in the sink!!
Karen - Flynn has two teeth and I am living in fear of the nip also (shudder) he has tried it once or twice mbut I yelled so loud I think he is scared to now
Gabysmum - another crawler!! My little lump still isn't crawling, but starting to move around on his tummy instead of rolling everywhere (not that I am in a hurry to have him mobile, mind you!!)
Neeny - did you end up going with that agency? As for dentist - I need a check up soon but I think I will wait till next month in terms of $$ cause DH needs to go too and our dentist is in the country (Kilmore). We both might as well make the trip together soon.
KL - you can't pop in and the go AWOL again!! How is little T going?
Well Flynn is teething again - either that or is sick AGAIN! So much for BF babies being resistant to bugs! I think he has a sore throat or really sore gums or something, because he is really clingy and his cry is really sad-sounding, and he is off his food a bit (ie: he doesn't hyperventilate when shown his food bowl anymore). He was up from 3 to 5am last night (or should i say this morning) and although he is tired is having a real hard time getting to sleep for his naps.
Better go and make hay while the boy sleeps and finish cleaning. Haven't managed to do any real work work this week so gotta get on top of that too.....
ciao bellas
ETA : IK, would you like DH to put some pics of his pizza oven during construction on our website - your DH could get some ideas maybe?
-
Rory - that would be great! I hope Flynn's just being Velcro Baby cos he's teething :(
-
Hiya Rory :) Nah, Verity doesn't SEEM nervous... but sometimes she hides it well.
Yep, Niall is the same, trickier to get down for a nap these days... but that's how all mine went at about 7 months so i kinda expected it. I hope Flynn isn't sick and that it's just teething... poor little mite.
I just tried on one of those new Snugglers (crawler size) they are smaller than the equivalent Aldi nappy and look a lot more like Huggies than before, less plasticy, but very light weight. Niall almost immediately did a poo, but it wasn't a blast poo (good onya Oscar!) so it was hard to tell if it would cope with a bigger one. So even though i have half a packet of Aldi's left I might go ahead and use these up first because they are definately smaller.

Hi Girlz,
Well we are in our new house, the move went very smoothly with nothing at all broken, very happy about that. I love my tiles, so easy to clean. Nathan doesn't mind crawling on them, which I was afraid he might get sore knees. It's been a week without T.V and kids haven't even asked for it. There are a few girls in the street about the same age as my two older ones and they have been over playing nearly every day. It is so good. My girls love their new school, they were a bit scared on Monday, but they said it went great and they both made friends easily. Hello to everyone, I'm going to pop back through and check out the forum, wow # 31 I think I have missed a couple of threads, lol. You girls talk too much, lol.

Bath- I like the aldi nappies but snugglers were such a good price i had to get some. Ive put Nixon in them before, at first i didnt like them but they have been holding everything in them well so they get a tick from me.
Dee-glad your move went smoothly and your family is setteling in well. Thats great there are some kiddies to play with in the street.
Dreamgirls- i liked it, but as i said i was a bit distracted by Nixon being over tired at first, then wriggly, wanting to get to the lights on the stairs etc the hungry! the signing in it was amazing, good outfits etc i just think they dragged it on a bit. Good cast though

Well the hole is fixed...I'll try to take some pics tomorrow!
James ran into our friend who manages the Big Alpaca farm here and he is putting in a good word for James, so on Saturday we are going to ring her and see if we can go up and have a chat to her.
I forgot to tell you(with all the upset yesterday!), yesterday after school we were on our way into town because we needed something at the supermarket, when one of the little 15 yr old brats, decided to be a smart mouth little so and so. As we were going through the round-a-bout he yelled out that James was a "c*cksucker!". Well that was it,this has been going on for 13 months, I yelled at James to pull over and I basically flew out of the car at this little *****. I asked him what we had ever done to him and he replied with the answer, "you got us kicked out of this house(they were living in there illegally!) because you wanted to live there!". I replied with"Do you see us in there? I don't think so!" He then told me to "go back to school you useless bum!" I tend to stammer when I get angry.
I then told James to get back into the car and went to see the police about the abuse and harrassment we have been receiving. After I finished explaining to them what had been happening. They turned around and said to me(you are not going to believe this) 'ignore them and it will stop! WTF!!! I said you expect me to ignore all the abuse and harrassment we receive even when they do it in front of children, I thought the police were there to protect us not tell us to deal with it and not to involve them!
I stormed out of there only after they said they would go and talk to this 15 yr old.
I just can't believe it. Apparently 15 yr old's are allowed to verbally abuse ppl in front of children now!
-
Well I've just spent about an hour catching up on all the posts (and dramas) so to speak.
SO most of my personals probably won't make sense to anyone but you WILL read them anway won't you??!!??
MILESTONES - Ruby doesn't have teeth, can't crawl or sit up yet. but she's very cute!!
MEL - Gosh Chelsea sounds like my Giorgia! G loves to sit and colour in too! In fact I have to keep some special textas and colouring in books for the shops in case I have to bfeed Ruby, and need to give G something to do! Sorry must have missed something - what are the tiles for?
BTW - I went back to work (only p-time) when Ruby was 8 weeks, but I feel great when I'm at work. It's just the drop off and pick up that sux. usually because I am running late and resenting myself for resenting my kids! I find that until I pick them up after work, I feel energised and happy, and once I pick them up I suddenly feel very tired! (not always...!)
LOL at men's only cooking schools - they DO exist. I'm good, my husband is a chef already!! and BATHSHEBA - he's a pastry chef too! Not so good for my muffin top, but usually he is (just) cooking me dinner at home. We had convenience food tonight too, called pasta and tuna(from a can). Fortunately it is the only other food apart from sausages that my daughter will eat.
ALI25- why are you out of work?? I thought you got a full 12 months maternity leave? Good luck with the council thing, teaching should open up a LOT of other positions for you if you can't get back into schools. how did playgroup go? Were the mums nice and inclusive? Did you get to talk to anyone or is Tori crawling all the time? Was playgroup set up to accomodate crawlers? My first one wasn't.
KRISTEE! - hi there! Welcome back, I'm sorry I don't remember you from before, I may not have met you? Anyway, come on in! Everyone here is really lovely and supportive etc.
IK you bloody hippie! you make me feel so guilty walking off to the the servo for environmental reasons! BTW I tried to check out your website but you need a password? (yes?) and you know why I'm civil in here, cause I have no F_ing idea what's going on ever! I'm so blissfully oblivious, of course I'd have a strong opinion if I knew but I never do! Do you do MSN messenger? or have an email addy cause I see you in here but can't contact you (PM) etc.
BATH - can I get your email too? Mine is nixthings@hotmail.com
Hey I just found out there WAS a splinter junies group. I am SOOO dumb! LMAO at myself.
No I'd be civil anyway cause I don't give a rats *ss about what other people think of me, but don't want to hurt others unneccessarily.
also LMAO off at your DH's thrush suspicion. that's so cute! and so male...
Hey Gabysmum - I was just thinking of you this morning and wondering how you were. Is Alex getting into everything? and are you finding it hard to maintain a conversation now as you need to keep running after him?
AMANDA3 - that's cool your schools and childcares are so close, although TBH I'd still drive even if mine were close, I'm so bloody lazy. (you posted a million threads ago that you walked them to school and childcare, you probably don't remember I'm so behind because everyone here POSTS SO MUCH! (good on us)
DEE78 - CONGRATULATIONS! (about the wedding) just make sure you look gorgeous ok! it's all about you babe! I was engaged for 12 weeks, its easy to organise if your not to precious about things like bonbonierres (sp?) or whatever.
BATHSHEBA - pawpaw is amazing for nappy rash too!
Ok. Keep the nice atmosphere going girls, we are all great aren't we! I think we are anyway. but WTF would I know LOL at myself!!
-
Nickel, you are too funny. I am kicking you off the island:D We've NEEDED you this whole time! Please don't go away again!
Jess - the police can be so hand-tied, can't they? Sometimes I wonder what they CAN do! LOL!
Ok, I'm gonna email you, Nickel, so that you can't jump out of the loop...you will henceforth be privy to all the dramas and consternation that the rest of us experience, with no excuse for ignorance... No, bite thy tongue, we are onwards and upwards once again :)
-
D'oh Dee, I forgot to say congrats!! Of all the people to miss in personals (hanging head in shame!)
and to our other dee - congrats on the successful move!
-
IK - sounds like you had a great time. Glad they put on a great spread - now you all have to keep it up. I have been wanting to do mosaic for ages so I have a little collection of tiles under the house. If I have any spare ones, you can have them. You can also ask the tile places if you can purchase or get their cracked or broken ones (you used to be able to anyway) or buy plates, crockery etc from an op shop. My GF's sister did one and she is very arty and it was amazing. I don't think mine will look as good. I have a mosaic table on our decking which inspires me all the time - now just need to get finger out!!!
Rory - great catch up on the personals. I have heard great things about Poyntons. Did you buy anything? Poor Flynn and you must be tired too. Being up at that time would be reminiscent of the early days of having a new baby in house. Marley has had her cranky pants on today too, not sure if teething or just *****ty! I went to the shops to buy my younger brother a birthday present, left at 7pm home by 9pm and she was still up. DH said she was really cranky and every time he put her to bed she screamed. I get home and she is happy and smiling and went straight to bed - he wasn't happy LOL!!! I hope it is just teething and no sickness involved.
Bath - wish Verity luck on her first day at high school. I bet she has a great day. Never tried Snugglers, might have to give them a go. They are definately cheaper than huggies.
7th Heaven - Dee, great to hear you settled in OK and no broken things! Must be a record. Its great to hear the girls love their new school and have found some friends in the street. When do you start uni - you must be getting excited? I get worried about Marley rolling over and hitting her head which she has done a few times (we already have tiles in our family room, we are just updating them), maybe she will work it out and be a bit more careful. Didn't even think about the knee issue but glad to hear it doesn't worry Nathan.
Nic - will have to make sure I go and see the movie without kids, maybe a chick flick movie to go to with girlfriends.
Jess - good luck with alpaca woman. The 15 yo kid sounds like a right pr!ck - great to see how much respect he has for people!
Nickel - we have tiles in our family room which were put down incorrectly and lots of them are cracking and are broken so we are updating them and replacing the whole lot which is a big job. 60m2 of tiles that go in our family room, laundry, hallway and toilet. I totally agree about the pick up and how you feel when you get home!! You are so lucky having a DH that can cook! I get sick of cooking everynight, maybe after cooking school, DH can create somthing that tastes edible. PML about the muffin top!!! I love pastries and anything sweet.
Night all and have a lovely day tomorrow.
-
LOL Mel! I didn't mean to cast nasturtiums on your DH's occupation! OK, maybe I did...a little ;) nite!
-

Good positive feelings happening in here atm....
