yeah i am still on cloyd nine about our place lol!
Ali- do you think if you didnt let Tori sleep for as long during the day she would stay asleep through the night? Nixon is in between 1-2 sleeps atm. He was tired at 10.30am so i put him down but he didnt actually go to sleep till about 11.30am. depending on how long he sleeps for whill mean if he gets another sleep or not, but ive found int he last week or so on the days he only has 2 small sleeps (20-40mins) he goes to bed easier and earlier at night and sleeps right through.
Poor Marley, younger siblings always seem to cop it off the elder ones dont they. My sister just read some book and says if the elder sibling wont say sorry to the younger one after doing something to hurt him/her, mum or dad should say to the younger "your bro/sis didnt mean to hurt you xxx and i am sure she will appologise to you in her own time"
anyway is tarted packing again today! not too much to pack again thank god and we are going to leave all our clothes int he draws etc transport them straight over so really only kitchen/bathroom stuff to pack up.

Wow, Nic - before you know it, these last few months will be so faded in your memory! Good one on giving the talk to DH - hopefully it has just been a case of 'oh, my mother is looking after me again' and he snaps out of it once it's just you two again. Still, it's a bit pathetic for a grown man to take advantage like that! He's also probably just making the most of it before he has TWO kids to help out with. If only you had the same luxury - can you imagine the tension in the house if YOU hadn't picked up after yourself and pitched in?
Dee - if you can get your hands on some Sandalwood oil (yeah, I know, it's one of the most expensive!), put it in some carrier oil and give yourself a hairline massage, making sure to sniff your hands deeply, it ought to have a fortifying effect. You are holding it together so well, and I know that sounds really condescending because you HAVE to keep it together with 5 kids! However, it may also help, every once in a while, to sit, close your eyes and visualise and feel how you will feel when DH returns and you can share the load. Sending fortifying vibes your way!
Oscar is lots better, though I can tell he's not 100%. That just means that he's sleeping longer than usual...terrible situation, I know...I have got so much washing done and the wood basket is full!! Now, to my text books...
My aim was to get the study in order, but our bins are full (we missed the collection last week!), so until that situation changes, there's not a lot of cleaning up I can realistically do without having somewhere to put the rubbish...
Saturday went to my cousin's fiance's 30th in a pub in Fitzroy (next street down from Napier St, Bath - was thinking of you!) with Oscar and DP. For the first hour and a bit we thought that it wasn't working and that we had passed our window of opportunity to bring Oscar everywhere, but we left at 11.30pm and he had charmed everyone after becoming attached to an empty stubby. He ended up being great! Still, would have been good to be boy-less , but I do love stretching the boundaries and seeing just how flexible Oscar is!
Walked to the shops today (have car, but I want my new jeans to actually look nice on, so decided to burn some extra calories instead) and picked up some little bits and pieces - I love doing that. Oscar fell asleep on the way back and is still asleep, nearly an hour and a half later.
Better get back to my jobs before he wakes...
-
Thanks for all the advice on the sleeping, yesterday Tori had 2 smaller naps, a big dinner and a later night and she still woke up at 2:50am (the exact same time as the other nights this week) so I am beinging to think that it might actualley be teething or something rather than anything to do with the amount or length of naps she has, as I have realised this is the same pattern that she fell into last time she was cutting teeth.
I tired out my new steam mop today and I have to say I am quite impressed, I was skepitcal at first because my mum had one and said it was rubbish but it got all the dirt up and anything that was stuck to the floor got loosened by the steam. I can see in some instances I am actualley going to have to get down and scrub, but in terms of the day to day grime I think it will work well........woohoo.
Anyway I am off to do a big batch of cooking, hope everyone is well.
-
Good afternoon :) Very quickly as Niall hasn't settled for his second nap and I suspect he is going to start whinging.
Firstly: Rory: if you ever do an impressive FlyLady effort make sure you come in here and brag... I shouldn't have put a dampner on things by moaning and groaning about my sitcho a few weeks ago. Funny how I dwell on stuff... been meaning to say something for ages. Hope you can drop in this Wednesday too. Cool: Maya is right about sandalwood being fortifying, there's just something about it that really puts life into perspective for me... maybe because it's such an ancient scent it has the ability of conveying to me the ever-useful "this too shall pass" phrase ;)
uh oh.... Niall being very vocal... better go deal...BBL

Amanda and Dee - thanks for looking at my artwork and your comments. I hope to do more soon and you guys can help me rate them!
Dee - would love to see some of your stuff, you should take some pics. I spose you wouldn't have much time these days for a relaxing session in front of a canvas? Glad to hear the kids are starting to feel better, must be a relief for you.
Nic - have fun packing up, not a fun job but I can imagine you will love doing it this time. Might need to take a leaf out of that book your sister read, can you find out what the title was, sounds like I might need to read it!
Maya - glad Oscar had a good night at the pub lol!!! Esp with his empty stubby! Its good that he can go with you and not drive you crazy. Hate missing a rubbish collection, the next week seems like so far away. I hope you get your study in order soon, it will make studying a whole lot easier for you. Sandalwood is a lovely powerful smell, I used to have lots of oils from LaReve (sp?) pre-kids and used to burn lots of them. Hope Oscar returns to his happy self soon.
Ali - I have a steam mop which I use very ocassionally, I don't like how wet it makes the floor, seems to take a while to dry. But you are right, you still have to get down and scrub sometimes.
Hi to Bath, Rory, Donna, Julie and everyone else.
My cousin in Sydney had her first baby last night, a little girl called Leila Joy (pronounced Layla) 8lb 10! The name is Fijian (her husband is part Fijian).
Work tomorrow, girls bags are packed just need to get my stuff organised. Going to be a very chilly one in Melb tomorrow!
-
Bath, honey don't dwell LOL!:D I have had my share of moaning while you have been domestic goddess in the baking stakes :) My appointment is at 9am on Wednesday so I should be able to meet you by about 10am
Ali we are in the same boat as you and Dee - I have already told DH that this time around I would happily have a kid with a cranky personality that sleeps like other bubs than our little fake-baby-during-the-day who becomes the Terrorist-at-Night (aka Osama Bin Flynn).
Maya, enjoy the walking while you can - i hear its gonna snow up your way tomorrow - BRRRR!!
Dee, ouch on the thrush - I waqs lucky not to get it with Flynn, but I hope my luck holds out with #2.
Mel, I can see a little of the book I am reading on having more than one bub in Chelsea and Marley's interaction. oh what fun I have to look forward to:doh: I swear sometimes I can understand why people have only one LOL!
Amanda that is great news about Cody walking - I can't wait till Flynn does cause he is really heavy to carry. Now I know that him walking won't mean he will walk where I want him to, but at least it will be a start :)
Donna that is rough about your nephew, poor little tike. Hopefully by the time he is an adult they will have a curem tho:pray:
Nickers on DH's waking - even though he is great in all respects of childcare, mine never/rarely does so just get into the habit of poking him til he gets up.
Better go - wanna surf for a bit before an early night - ciao bellas....
-
You girls are the greatest, thank you so much for your support of late. I've really been complaining alot haven't I.
Maya, Sandlewood sounds like a fantastic idea, I think I really need some aromatherapy. Glad to hear Oscar is on the mend.
Bath, thanks babe, lol it must be providence as I've heard and read the phrase 'this too shall pass" now for the third time this week.
Mel, mine is no where near as good as yours, but I will charge my 'badateries' and take a couple. Chelsea is only a few months younger than Allanah and I can tell you her behaviour is completely normal. They are treasures aren't they.
Donna, your poor little nephew, it won't be like this for him forever, it will settle.
Ali Thanks babe, I'm doing a science and technology subject and an Art subject which both should be very interesting and fun. How was the movies and that yummy roast.
Hi Rory, hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
Nickers Yay for packing, how exciting, you'll be able to nest in your new place.
Hi Amanda yay for Cody , so funny, here's my lazy boy who has been standing and walking around furniture for the past few months and has been taking steps for the past month yet he refuses to walk, lol. and I bet Cody will walk before Nate does.
The boy is on the mend only Makayla is down sick now, poor baby.
-
Now you have another sickie?? Dee, once again I take my hat off to you - the closer I get to having two I marvel more and moe each day at mums with multiples. God give me the strength LOL :)
-
Well I'm glad that's all over with, I don't think there is a worse virus than a rotavirus. It's been terrible in this house over the paste week. My poor babies. Maya sorry I missed where you asked me about it. A rotavius causes Gastroenteritis which causes diarrhoea, fever and vomiting. It's highly contagious and very very common. They have an outbreak of it here at the moment, so I'm not the only one, lol.
Rory You'll be great don't worry about it too much your love and time multiplies not divides, you'll have plenty to spread around. I know it's daunting as you get closer to the big event but you'll be fine.
-
TMI Alert - my sicko sense of humour!!
Oh Dee, I know it was a typo but "terrible in this house over the paste week" made me think of paste-y poo LOL!!! You poor thing!
-
Charming, Rory!
Thanks for the description, Dee :)
Donna - it's such a shock for your nephew and his parents. Hopefully it won't be long before they accommodate it into their lives and realise there is still quality of life.
Mel - your artwork looks great!
Bath - not snowing up here, and probably won't, we're not far enough up the mountain! I could see some snow laying about the hills around Olinda, as I made my way back home from the pool in Boronia. What a lovely day for a swim in a heated pool!
Well, I've put washing out, brought washing in, cleaned the kitchen a bit, had something to eat, now I'm going to read my textbooks while the boy sleeps...

Hi to all,
We have returned from our trip down to Hervey Bay and found it to small to live in for us ( I need more shops ) anyway we had a great time down there and thought it was beauitful and loved the idea of been able to use a beach when the summer came as we cant up here but it wasnt enough to make us buy as the prices are about the same as they as here in cairns which is way too high so now we will stay here for now as this is where my dh has to fly out of and in to so at least we wont have to waste time together with him traveling home. So now we hope to buy here or might build as it is cheaper up here to build than buy we have been offered a good amount from the bank but when you look there isnt much at all so if we can find land that hasn't been brought out buy God no's who then we will build and might save $ 50,000 but DH just want to put a bigger house on the land ( if we find some ). Well we have decide to call Kailaia lazy legs now as she still isn't walking she took about 6 steps on friday and we were all so happy even got a few on the video but she hasnt taken a step since. so now she is just lazy legs until she walks.
havent had time to read through all that I have missed and will do so tommorrow as DH is going to work again so I will have some time so dont mean to be rude if there are some big things going on and I havent said anything
well better go as we have to go see someone about some land we have seen wish us luck

Hiya Tali and Julie... I'm all over the place at the moment (here in BB and IRL) but thinking of you guys... kids manic... first day back at school for Verity... first day back at PlayGroup this morning... wonderful hail storm here Maya... putting in a bit of extra effort house cleaning for Rory's visit tomorrow... how was your day Mel? Good to hear the bug has moved on Cool... trout and asian greens for dinner better get cracking!:whip:
-
Julie i hope yopu all get over the gastro quick smart, not very nice thing to have.
Hi Tali and welcome back! good luck finding some land!
sorry was planning tot ype more but i can hear Nixon getting into something he prob shouldn't better go investigate!
-
Rory - I hear ya! Might need that book too! Sibling rivalry is such fun - NOT!
Dee - I am so glad to hear that Chelsea's behaviour is normal! I was beginning to think she didn't really like her little sister. She is so nice to her sometimes, then a devil the next. Did you find it improve as they got older? Poor Makayla, hopefully she's the last one to get it.
Maya - glad you like the artwork, have you had any inspiration yet? Not that you have the time. How is Oscar? You might get some snow tonight, it must be mighty cold but I bet you have your roaring fire going.
Tali - good to see you back. I hope you find your dream block of land really soon.
Julie - who was the lucky one not infected? Hope everyone feels better soon.
Bath - sounds like your day was hectic and what a horrid day! My day at work was great, but it was so cold when I left. I was rugged up to the hilt and could still feel the cold chilling my bones. I bet your dinner was delicious!
Nic - did Nixon get into anything exciting?
How cold was it today? It was so icy all day and thankfully it is quite warm at work. Leaving was a different story, the wind was so bitter and more of the same tomorrow. I am all rugged up in my Pj's, kids are in bed and looking forward to a quiet night in front of the TV (DH at work) with a coffee and chocolate!
-
Rory....LOL PMSL you crack me up.:D
Ohh Girls I'm thinking of you all keep rugged up and toasty, Bbbrrrrrrrr.
I watched Al Gore's Doco An inconvenient truth, wow, made me think, the evidence of our global climate change is all around us, it was such an eye opener.
Tali welcome back, good luck as your search conyinues for land, you could camoe down here, there's heaps of shops, lol.
-
Rory – Glad your scan went well and yay on getting pay rise.
Maya – I so hear you on the ‘go faster’ kidlet – Our Oscar was like that and we ended up buying the longest reaching gate so we could keep him out of the kitchen as he just got too dangerous when he found he could open the oven door. We didn’t have any high cupboards either so everything breakable was in reach for him so too stressful. I Don’t think my dad is being doing it just to be difficult but I do think he’s just thinking about himself ie he’s too scared to get in a new car (even though he would get it the day before and could have a play in it on familiar roads) but I will have to do that after a long period of no sleep and drive on hideous busy roads that I haven’t driven on for 5 years to get home. Hehe about being envious about farmer family – MIL has been on happy pills for 15 years and has a crap dr who won’t help her get off them/get on ones more suited to her problem as I don’t think she is just depressed I think she is bipolar. Big yay on getting half your literature review done already for next term. It’s a great feeling being in front. “be able to sit my exams and then pop one out!” LMAO! Good luck! It’s great that DP has been offered fulltime work so that you can maybe go to Ireland – lovely place although I’ve only been to Dublin and was mostly under the spell of Guiness at the time so memories are a bit hazy but the photos are fun! Glad Oscar sounds like he is on the mend.
Dee – poor you having 3 poorly kidlets to look after – don’t know how you managed it, especially on your own. The dr thinks that’s what we have just had and it was nasty enough with me, James and Will getting it, fortunately and amazingly Oscar doesn’t seem to have come down with it. (yet?). Shame Michael might have to be away for longer, that must be so hard when he’s away for so long in one stretch, even for the short term. That was lovely of your SIL to clean/get kiddies to help clean the house for you while you were out. Sorry Makayla’s got it now – only leaves Brianna – hope she manages to avoid it.
Amanda – How did dh’s knee op go? Yay on Cody taking a step and standing up without holding onto anything.
Mel – you are so organized! Managing to get to work earlier enough to go for coffe and meet up with a friend before starting is amazing – I was always a just-on-time person, never managed early! Marley sounds like she is going so well with the milk in her bottles and the yoghurts, that’s great. So Marley is taking steps now, that’s fab, she must be so proud. Funny about her managing to sneak out her growbag, Oscar was in his for about 20 months and he never managed to actually get out of it (although I think his approach to it was more ‘bull-at-a-gate’ rather than figure out how it works and be successful) – I think girls are more intelligent in that sense – and more patient. Chelsea sounded like she had abit of a naughty day on Sunday, hopefully a one-off for you. Will you be able to replce your figurine? I know it’s not the same though. Your artwork is fantastic, your dad is going to love his pressy it looks so good. I really am going to have to try doing that. I want to do a blue version of Marley’s canvas as well (whenever ill get around to I don’t know – but you’ll have to put little ©in your photo place so people like me don’t nab your designs!). Congrats to your cousin, Leila Joy is a lovely name.
Bath – yep – you are definitely the queen of details when it comes to the Av’s – I love my Timmy – can’t believe you managed to do him so well. That’s good that Verity can go into your Dh’s work with him for the afternoon. Thai curry sounds delish. I’m off to check out the cradle cap thread after this as you mentions moogoo – I’ve not heard of it but would love to give it a go on osc and Will as they’ve both still got it, although I’ve not actually done anything to try and get rid of it as most people have suggested olive oil and I just didn’t fancy it. Do you order it from the web? Ill have a go googling it.
Ali – Glad you’ve settled in nicely. Love your name choices for bubs, not long now until your scan – hope s/he isn’t shy so you can find out. How was your night out with DH? Yay on him getting a bonus. Ooooo nightmare on Tori wanting to be awake for so long in the night. Hope she gets out of that one soon or that will be really tough for you. Sorry I don’t have any useful advice to give. Hope you enjoyed HP and the roast. Have to admit I couldn’t ever eat after going to the movies as I always stuff myself stupid with popcorn.
Nic – so pleased you go the house, that’s great. Now you can have things the way you want them (nice and clean) with only your dog around and no snappy ones so at least you can feel that Nixon is safe and clean in your house. Shame about you missing out on a weekend away. Sounds like you’ve got your house in time so that your DH can get used to helping out again and not getting everything done for him by him mum before your bubs comes along.
Donna – enjoy the mars bars! That is so typical that Lachlan behaved so well for your shopping trip this morning so that DH now thinks all your trips are that easy! I’m sure ‘they’ know just exactly when to act up and when to be good just to make us look bad! Your poor nephew being diagnosed with diabetes, and so young! So many needles, ouch. Hope Lachlan starts sleeping better for you soon, you must be so tired.
Tali – Hi again. Good luck finding land in Cairns. We decided it was cheaper to build than buy so that is what we are doing although I forgot to take into account that you are paying interest only on your mortgage for a year before living in it (might not take you that long though) so that’s added a fair wad onto our amount. But I still think it’s worth it. Sounds like Kailaia will be walking soon after taking her steps, that’s great news. Lol at lazy legs!
Hi to anyone I’ve missed.
A few of you have been posting that you’re sorry for coming in here moaning and not supporting others but I think that EVERYONE in here is so supportive and if we can’t moan with our friends occasionally who can we moan to. I know I’m still a relative newbie to the Junies but I’ve never come across a more supportive bunch of girls anywhere, it is so lovely so please don’t think that you are like that as you are not.
Sooo (now for my moan ;))what a fab weekend – NOT! Went to playgroup on Friday, all good then put the boys down, all good, then about 8.30pm Will wakes with a cry and we go into him and he throws up everywhere. I was holding him and he just couldn’t stop. After what seemed like ages he stopped for a while so he had a shower with DH while I changed sheets and tried to sort the carpet out. We thought it was because he had been given garlic bread with his tea (by DH, long story that I won’t go into but I was hiding in the loo after having to leave the room to stop myself from really shouting at DH after he made a stupid comment as I really try not to argue or shout in front of the kids so I hid for a while and he gives him garlic bread – far to rich in my mind) So we put him back down but within half an hour he’s up again and being sick and that is really how the night went until around 3am. I have never put the washing machine and dryer on at night before but I think I did 2 loads that night as we don’t have many cot sets. Next day he’s not too bad, still being abit sick but is himself more or less, just abit clingy, same on Sunday. The Sunday afternoon James starts to feel quesy and then an hour later I do and all hell breaks loose (literally – sorry far TMI I’m sure). I’ve not seen anything like it before, me, dh and poor Will all being very ill and Oscar just watching and listening and obviously not liking it. It was really awful as we didn’t have anyone to call to come help us so even though we were being ill and feeling terrible we still had to sort out Will and feed Oscar. I got away with it very lightly and although had a horrendous night I didn’t feel too bad the next morning. James on the other hand had it really bad and has broken a lot of blood vessels in his face (which he does most times when he’s sick but not this bad). Will was still being sick and by Monday morning we were really worried about him as he had gone totally floppy and I’d never experience that with Osc even though he’s had some nasty chest infections and fevers etc but never been floppy. I rang the 24hr line and they said take him to the drs so I did ( I slept on their couch while waiting 1 ½ hours to be called in) and the doc said he was ok at the mo but give him the gastrlyte stuff and if he didn’t start keeping that down in the next 24hrs he was going to have to go to PMHospital. Fortunately when we got home he drank the first serve of gastrolyte in a ‘oner’ then kept drinking more water and didn’t throw up again but did the other end. He was floppy all day though and couldn’t veen lift his head. We pulled the futon mattress in from next door so Will and I could lie and sleep on that and James slept on the couch while Oscar played and watched TV bless him. Turned a massive corner today, Will is almost back to himself, up and about and playing but still clingy and not eating hardly anything but definitely on the mend. DH is good enough to go back to work tomorrow (boo) but ill not venture anywhere until at least the end of the week to be sure. How has oscar avoided it I have no idea? I caught him drinking out of Will’s straw cup a few times over the weekend so they’ve definitely swapped saliva! He must be super bod! Hopefully I haven’t spoken too soon but at least me and james are back on form and have got the washing sorted so that if he does come down with it it will be more copeable with now. End of boring sickness monologue!
It sounds like Will is going to be the last Junie to walk as not one step here yet and no signs of it either. Good thing is the bank has paid the builder – yay and the they have started doing the brick work today – can’t wait to go see it at the weekend. Ill shut up now and not hog the thread. Night night.
