She is really excited Dee. Her dress was made for her and we should receive it early next week, I'm at my wits end trying to figure out what I should do with her hair! She has shoulder length curly hair and I have no idea what to do with it! Any ideas????

hi all,
The cairns show was really good the kids behaved really well and yes it has been nice up here about 25 but believe it or not thats cold up here and we are all walking around with jeans and jumpers on, today at playgroup one lady was in her tracksuit with wooly socks, I know we dont know what real cold is. dad told me it was snowing where i grow up so it must be cold down there as it doesnt snow that oftern. While I was at the show my GF went into labor so I had to go and pick her boys up from school she had a girl and is doing very well.
we are still waiting on the land well not really just waiting on my DH to come home so we can go back to bank and sign papers. the lady selling the land said that she is happy to wait for him to come back, so now we just have to hope that she keeps her word, as I offered to give a holding depost but she said not to worrie about it and just to wait for DH she is about 80 so we hope that she wont do us over. I think I will be grey by the time all this is over but they use to own all this land in cairn ( old cane farm ) and this is the last of the blocks and she said she only wants people who are planning on living in the houses and not investors.
Well lazy leg still isn't walking I'm telling you this is almost as bad as waiting for the baby to come as everytime I speak to someone thay alway ask is she walking yet my dad is convinced all she needs to walk is her grandad and she would walk so i told him he is free to come out of the icy cold and visit and teach her to walk.
well better go as I can hear kai
hope you are all rugged up and have a great weekend

Jess- My suggestion for Kate's hair would be to part it into about 8 sections on top and twist it back and then pin it in place with bobby pins. Then if you want lift the rest of it up to the middle of the head and pin in place if that makes any sense. I ave quite curly hair and when it is longer that is what I do with it. If I can find a pic I will email it to you.

Ali - glad to hear Tori has her sleep pattern back. You must feel relieved. Enjoy your night in, sometimes those nights are much more fun. Would love to see your MIL work, I'm not professional by any means, just love doing it. I admire people who can really paint!
Dee - is this what I have to look forward too lol!!! Do girls naturally take longer to get moving. Its pretty good hear at the moment, if the TV is off things happen much faster and we can leave on time. But to be honest, its usually me running late (DH would be rubbing his hands together if he read that lol!!!)
Bath - BB is good for the soul! Confess away! Poor Niall, bet that would have hurt him. I have been trying to follow your advice about looking after the injured first, then heading back to the perpetrator! It does work, Chelsea gets quite put out if I ignore her. I hope Niall is ok. I must admit, I yell sometimes esp if its something really bad. Your philosophy with Verity sounds great, not dragon mummy, smart mummy!
Nic - thanks! When you get your own place, I will make something for you just tell me what colour scheme you have. You are doing so well with your Xmas shopping but wise to do it now rather than after Powow is born and you have to shop with 2 kids - not a good idea! Hope Nixon is feeling better today, you don't need anymore illnesses! Good luck with the move, can't wait to hear how you get settled.
Tali - 25! How divine, funny how they think its cold. They would really freeze down here. Glad the show went well and how exciting about your friend having her baby. I have a lazy legs too, loves walking around furniture but won't go it alone!
Jess - Chelsea has similiar hair, shoulder length, curly. I like pulling it up into a small pony tail toward the crown area and then pulling a few pieces out above the ear. Then tying a pretty ribbon in it that will hang down with the rest of her hair. Whatever you decide, I'm sure she will look beautiful.
What a day I've had today! MIL rang last night saying she was taking me out for lunch! She has never done this before. She goes to this native nursery in Mt Evelyn which has a beautiful cafe and she raves about it. I said I would love to go one day. She took me up on it and took me today. Well it was fantastic! Food was amazing and they have a shop that is stocked with local produce, homewares, books etc. We spent ages looking at all the stuff, we then wandered out the the nursery which is all natives. Back inside I saw a lovely green necklace and MIL saw it too and commented that I would like it (green is my fav colour), so she bought it for me! I had a really nice day out with her and she didn't let me pay for lunch either. Then out for dinner tonight with GF's to a lebanese rest in Carlton. We had a banquet, delicious. I feel like I could burst right now. DH's birthday tomorrow, so Chelsea and I went to the shops before I left for dinner and got him a Liqourice Lovers bag from Darryl Lea (from the girls) and I got us Gold Class tickets for Harry Potter next Wed (all sold out for tomorrow). Marley seems like she has another cold! Can't understand where she is picking them up from, haven't been out much at all with her this week and none of us have one. I am hoping it might be teeth, fingers crossed!
Night all!

Good morning,
Ali - Great news about Tori sleeping again, maybe the later bedtime is the answer, it doesnt give you and DH much time alone together though does it. I have tried to keep Lachlan up later in hope that he will sleep better and sleep in the next day but nope, it actually makes the night worse!
Mel - Very jealous about your MIL! What great day you had, she sounds lovely. As for Marley and her cold. The doctor told me when Lachlan was in hospital that kids from this age on will usually spend three months of the year with a cold. Two weeks with one, two weeks without. he said thats normal!! Yeah right. I hope thats not normal for my household, i dont think i could cope with that. Lets just hope its her teeth!!
Tali - Good luck with the land, lets hope this lady keeps her word for you. Glad you had a good time at the show and congratulations on your friends little girl.
25 degrees cold?? Boy i wish i lived up there!!!
Jess - How did Kates communion go? What did you decide with her hair?? Cant wait to see any photos!
NIckers - Good luck with the move, lets hope it all goes smoothly and also that Nixon isnt coming down with anything!!
Well, not much happening with me, im at work today, DH has taken Lachlan to a birthday party (one of my girlfriends kids) im stressing out about it. I know that DH is pretty good with him but i worry that he just wont watch him like i will. He will pull stuff off the tables onto himself and fall over etc and DH will be way up the other end of the hall chatting to someone (i know im a stress head!) Its mainly going to be playgroup mums and dads there so im hoping that everyone will be keeping an eye on him for me!
Gosh, the things we stress about!
Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Afternoon everyone, Hope everyone had a great weekend!!
Jess...was Kate's communion today, I thought it was next week, sorry not to post sooner, I love Ali suggestion, I was going to sugest half up half down, so pretty and feminine.
Ohhhh Nathan's crackin a nahnahhh so gonna come back later.
-
Her First communion is on the 5th August...tried out some more hairstyles but still haven't decided on what to do yet!
Pat stood up by himself for my Aunts and they nearly had a heart attack! They hadn't seen him do it and they thought he was soo clever.
Better go just walked in from driving..time to do some washing..A woman's work is never done!
-
Where is everyone? Been very quiet of late.
Maya - been heaps of threads about ergo and HAB's and I keep thinking of you. You'd be able to give some really great advice.
Dee - regarding the colds, it does seem like they have them all the time and its so hard to tell whether teeth or just a cold. Marley's I am still not sure, but her runny nose is clear which is not too bad. How did DH go at the party? I am a bit like you and a worry wart when DH takes the girls out.
Well my little munchkin has decided to WALK!!!!!! On DH's b'day on Saturday, she took 10 steps across the room. DH was so excited it happened on his b'day. Marley was so proud of herself, she clapped and laughed. Now she is doing it all the time, she walks until she falls then crawls to somewhere to stand up and goes again. Its so cute to see as she looks so little and still a bit unsteady on her feet. Chelsea was about the same age too.
Just had a GF over for lunch and we had soup and crusty bread then I made some scones. She is due to have her bub#2 in 2 weeks so she is getting very excited. All these people I know having babies is getting me very clucky!!!
Hope everyone is well and having a good day :)

Hiya Mel... i'm a-lurkin'. Yay!! for Marley!!! Oooh now everything will have to raised up another notch! Niall can now reach the items on my bedside table which, amongst other things, is causing me no end of grief.... still, the walking business is soooo cute at this age.
Scones... you have inspired me yet again... i have some buttermilk that needs using... i don't bake 'em without buttermilk these days... don't know what it does but it makes them soooo much lighter...
Am co-ordinating Wade vacuuming the house ATM... he loves it!
-
Bath - I know what you mean about the bedside table! I leave my books there and have found them with some pages ripped or scrunched up! Nothing is mine anymore lol!!! Buttermilk scones would be beautiful, must try that one. Have only ever used b/milk in pancakes. Have you tried the lemonade scones? Best I have ever tasted. My beaters have broken so I bought the pre-whipped cream in the can (the lite version lol!!!) and boy is it tasty. Might have to make hot chocolates with whipped cream tonight.
Can you send Wade over here, I need some vacing done lol!
-
Niall reached for and grabbed my new Harry Potter book!:o this morning! Arrrrrgh! I screamed and leapt across the room! But it crashed to the floor stubbing the corner :( Oh well... Verity will be reading it next, i'll have to learn to relinquish control... and buy myself a new set at some stage in the future when I'll want to reread the whole series anyhow...
-
I am so excited I can hardly type... I have finally become a student doula
Oops Bath posted at the same time!

Busy weekend was had here!
Mel - applause for Marley! She'd look so cute walking on two's :) I had soup and the Aldi Sour Dough for lunch too!
Bath - Oscar has a thing for vacuum cleaners...I'll harness that...
I've been away from here for a few days and I've forgotten what I wanted to say in PM's.
We had our brigade annual dinner on Saturday and we got home at 3am Sunday. Only because DP had a sore throat and no voice! Saturday's swimming lesson was really, really good - it's gonna be a good term.
Sunday I headed to the Gembrook market, after sending DP off to the vet with MIL's dog...she has managed to gash her leg open at the knee...and cost a bit of money, most of it in anaesthesia due to stitches. She's doing really well, though. I'm really impressed with her, actually. This time last year we had her because MIL went to Tassie and the dog was a PITA. She has been so good this time that I've been willing to swap Coco for Jessie! Poor kid then goes and cuts herself open and scores a few nights sleeping indoors...what some dogs will do!
Last night Oscar woke up upset at about 4.30...hot and upset. Dosed him up and he eventually fell asleep again. I slept in with him till 11.30.
I wandered around the shops of Tecoma looking for a mixing bowl...nothing in the op shops or antique shops, but I did wander into a shop that sells cleaning products and bulk nappies. She has a range of biodegradable and compostable nappies from Germany which looks reasonable, especially as I only use sposies at night now, really. Then she points me to an Australian made nappy. Not biodegradable, but Australian, which is a plus. She's given me a few samples, cos I told her that the Aldi ones have been fanstastic but I'd prefer a locally made product. I'm tempted to get the German ones, though, as we have a compost bin here. they are about $28 for 42 nappies - more than $10 more expensive than Aldi, but it would buy peace of mind. Sheesh, it's such a minefield.
Ok, boy asleep, I have to hang washing and bring in some firewood.
hopefully I'll be back later, but I also need to fit in some study today...
Missed your post, Jess - congratulations! Whose your first test dummy??
-
Jess: WooHoo!!!! I expect to see you posting in the doula forum sharing ideas and advice... and the WooHoo room too! What wonderful news :)
Maya: Yep, i hear you on Aldi nappies being shipped all the way from Belgium... it's one aspect of environmental impact that mnay comparison studies fail to mention: shipping as a carbon contributor... once you get your clothie there's no more transporting needing to be done! Let us know how the German ones go... would be a bonus if they were biodegradable... such a juggling act i agree... because i had Verity in 90% cloth I get the guilts with Wade (pullups at night) and Niall (who is down to about 20% cloth now it's winter)... but at least i have a conscience... many people never give it a thought... it's so heartening coming to BB to read how so many people do actually care :)

Lol Yay for Marley!! Nathan, although is very capable and can walk chooses not to, lol. He is so funny. The thing Nathan is doing though is talking, he quite clearly says, "shut the door" and "good girl" and "where's Nathan" of course it is baby bable but you can hear and recognise what he is saying. His range of single words is vast and he is constantly babbling, hehehe, it goes something like, mum mum dudugabahhh gjjuuujuuuwahhhnah mum mum, lol hmmmmmmm with lots of pointing. He also won't stop with the kisses, proper kisses with the mwah sound under it and he says kisses although it sounds more like "issses".
Yeah my bedside table has been a target for a few years now, nothing is safe there, lol.
Bath mmmmmmmmm buttermilk scones sound divine.
ETA Oh my in the time it took me to post there was heaps I missed in between, lol you sneaky girls lol
hmmmmm what did I miss...
Jess Congratulations on the Doula training, good on you for doing it, I hope you get heaps of clients!!!
Hi Maya I only start back sem 2 today. How's it all going?? I love Aldi Nappies. Nathan is completely in sposies at the moment, due to out growth of MCN's and my pre laziness in not making any more. I really should hurry up and make new ones.
Bath....I was only talking to SIL yesterday about buying the whole set when they release a box set for all seven books, all of ours are very ratty having been read by a few people. Although Allanah ripped Order of the pheonix to pieces, grrrrrr, so we don't have that one anymore.
I started Sem 2 today, only doing 2 subjects. See how I go.

Hi everyone just going to be quick, DH knee op went well, he was suppose to go back to work today but Lockie got croup and now DH has bronchilal pneumonia (sp), Cody is also now showing signs of get croup, so not a great household this last few days. I've also been getting migraines again, so I've been lurking when I can.
