OOh I know about desperately wanting to grow your essential oil "wardrobe" too! I have an InEssence box that I try to keep filled but it's so expensive. Fortunately InEssence recently changed their packaging and our local chemist reduced their remaining stock by 50%!!! woohoo I stocked up but the range was limited. I bought a lot of oils that are more 'medicinal' than 'nice' like juniper, fennel and pine.

DH and Wade are outside looking for rocket leaves ammongst the rampant stinging nettles.... bound to end it tears!

ETA: sorry I missed your posts Mel and Amanda! I'll get back on here when I can... Wade throwing a wobbly :( He didn't get stung... he's just bored.

ETA: I loaded a heap of piccies into the Members Gallery here in BB last night... one of me as a baby/toddler. Does anyone else have any baby shots of themselves? Oh and the gallery link has temporarily gone missing... Kelly knows about it, is trying to fix it etc... there is a link in the Forum Help section under the thread called "Gallery". Who else has used this feature? Wade's Baby's Online site expired :( so I'll just use this one now I think.

DP home now, he's taken Oscar outside, all puddlesuited up. So cute wandering around his backyard (Oscar, not DP!), helping Daddy find dog poo...uh oh, I think he found some, he's heading back towards the laundry...

Bath - I've got a 36 bottle box and I've got space for about two more oils! Mine are mostly bought for therapuetic purposes. Except Bergamot - that one I get cos I just love it! Black Pepper and the likes of Ginger aren't exactly perfumery musts. I like Basil, and I should have more of that burning while I'm studying. I need another burner! I want another electric waterless one, though. Re: packaging changes - the factory outlet of InEssence has got all the old packaging oils going for a song there off Smith Street. I bought a 20ml bottle of Eucalptus for about $5, just cos it's the blue packaging. I was going to buy more but realised that my eBay seller sells for about the same cost, for 10ml bottles instead of 9ml bottles. Still, they are really cheap at the outlet, and I know that they are good quality. It's a pity that the department stores don't stock many of the oils, just the main ones. I spent $68 on 5 oils that I had hand delivered again this morning - Frankincense, Neroli, Clary Sage, Cedarwood and Ginger. I bought Rosemary at my local health food shop yesterday. Yep, I have a compulsion!

Hi girls, all is well in this household, Tori is back to sleeping most of the night (stirs for her dummy some nights) and my sanity has returned.
The little baby is kicking like a trooper, still cant quite believe that we are having a little boy, it is just so exciting. I have to admit that as soon as I found out I headed out to Big W and put a few boys summer outfits on layby, I just couldnt help myself.

But unfortunately I think most of us mind ourselves in the middle. We might have a great job that tempts us but resent it when we can't be with our kids, or the "chance" to stay at home because DH "earns enough" but crave outside stimulation. And sometimes our personalities lend themselves more to one way of living more than the other.

I read this Rory and truly felt like you could see inside my head. I love my job, i find it stiulating, and rewarding and I get such satisfaction out of what I do. However saying that I have to go back to work, because we have chosen for DH to work 4 day pw so he can spend time with Tori, and also in a few years he will be made partner so for now he has to make do on wages, so sometimes I feel resentful that I am in the position that I have to work. So loike so many of you have said there is no clear cut answer to this and we can only feel what we feel.

Amanda- I hope that everyone is well again soon in your household.

Bath/Maya- I am not into oils myself, but I think you guys would get along really well with my MIL she is a Natropath, trained in bowen therapy and flower essences, she also makes her own herbal teas. She has actualley just set up a practice in Bali and is in the process of opening a cafe/ health food shop.

Dee- Gotta love the wonders of modern technology, at least you are able to video chat with your DH, I guess it helps you both stay a little more connected.

Big Hugs to everyone else, I hope everyone is surving this pretty rough whether we are having, but just think good for our farmers and our dams and spring isnt that far away now.

Bath - can't wait to see your baby pics! Can't seem to work out how to get into the gallery. Hopefully they fix the bug soon. I had checked it out before the upgrade and there were some beautiful baby pics in there.

Maya - how did Oscar go helping DP find poo?? How funny! Yes I do think you have a compulsion lol!! At least you are using them, I used mine religiously for ages then just started to forget. Bargain prices though.

Ali - Glad to hear the little one is kicking up a storm! Big W has some fantastic stuff for summer in both boys and girls (and even ladies too!). It must be very exciting for you. I hope if we try for #3 that its a boy too. I think its great that DH can spend some time with Tori and the new bub. Dads do tend to miss out on so much due to the hours they work so I am sure the kids will benefit alot from it.

Crazy morning in the house this morning but we managed to leave the house by 7.25am, dropped both kids off, then came back home as I forgot my phone and was on the road by 7.45. I was very pleased with myself. Got to work and went to get my morning coffee and realised I left my purse at home!! Luckily I have coffee with a friend in the mornings and he lent me some lunch money. Have to have my morning latte lol! Got home and got the hugest smile from Marley and she walked over to me and gave me a cuddle - just melted my heart, she is such a sweet little soul. Chelsea was hiding from me under the coffee table and I got a huge hug from her too. I love coming home to that. Chelsea has a kinder friend coming over tomorrow so need to make sure I have lots of supplies as its not going to be a very nice day. Hopefully they will enjoy baking some cookies or pancakes or something???

Hello ladies,

I am new to this site - well, sort of, I became involved last year after my baby was born in June but then lost contact due to terrible experience with PND from which I have thankfully now recovered. In fact it was input from a few of you that led me to do what I had to do to make that first step towards my recovery so thank you. I have a question about feeding and would appreciate any helpful suggestions.

Firstly, I cannot get DS to drink water, he is not interested in it. I feel a bit responsible because on the advice of the hospital when he was born, I never gave him water as he supposedly only needed milk but then the breastfeeding didn't work out anyway and so he was on formula and now won't touch water. I have tried the fancy cups, with straws, and most recently an 'adult' water bottle with no success. Do you have any ideas on how I can get him interested in drinking water?

Secondly, I gave DS a bottle of cow's milk for the first time last week (he is now 13 and a half months old) and he drank it (he also got really sick that night but I don't know if it was due to the milk or the tap water that I gave him - silly me decided to try both in the one day) but recently when I tried to re-introduce cow's milk he wouldn't take it, doesn't seem to like it. I am also lactose intolerant and am worried he may suffer from it as well - how can I know if he won't drink it?

Also, is it normal for the little ones to become fussy eaters at just 13 months? DS used to eat everything, and really loved his food, vegetables, fruit, and all, and now he has become fussy and won't eat anything that looks remotely green (eg broccoli).

Any suggestions or hints will be appreciated. Have a good day.

have you tried just a normal cup for water? You hold it for him and tilt it so he gets small amounts? My DS thinks he is so clever drinking out of a cup, maybe give that a try if you haven't already.
If not what about the same type bottle he gets his milk from? That he would be familar with? I have tried to keep what i give ds water and what i give him milk 2 seperate types so he knows the difference but maybe using something he is already used to will give him comfort?

I have recently weaned Nixon off teat bottles as such, but it did take a long while and a far bit of persistance (doesnt help when others still offer the bottle) but didnt get too mean with if he was unwell or really carrying on then i would give him the teat bottle.

Milk- when i first introduced cows milk to DS i started by just adding half cows milk and half formula. and in just one feed. Once he was keeping that down ok and no reactions i then switched.
If you are lactose intolerant it might be well worth getting him checked out also.

hope this gives you a couple of idea's but im sure others will post some great idea's also.
Being too that is it winter he probably wont drink too much water then what he would if the weather was a lot drier and hotter. Having said that though im not sure where u live!

Welcome again Bub Struck :) What was your previous username darl? Good to hear you conquored the PND. I agree with Nic: regarding water intake: try just giving it to him via a small cup... my DS likes the novelty of it and will even sip water from the lid of a Mount Franklin's bottle if we are out and about and I have forgotten his cup. I would avoid putting water in a teated bottle if he has had milk from them... the refusal could be due to the frustration of not getting milk... just a thought. Good luck!

Hi Bubstruck- When I introduce dd to cows milk I did it by adding a little bit to her formula at a time, lik 3/4 formula 1/4 milk for a week- when I knew she could handle that I went to 1/2 and 1/2 and then 1/4 and 3/4. All up too over a month but by the end she was completley used to it.

As for water, it might not be an idea that everyone agrees with but when DD refused water I bought baby juice and gave her that to start with and then gradually watered it down more and more untill it was just water, now we dont even buy her juice anymore and she carries her water cup around with her all the time and drinks at least 1 full sippy cup of water if not more per day.

The fussy eating thing could be an age thing because DD has become a bit the same, but also I was giving her too much milk and wondering why she didnt wan to eat. I have since cut down her milk so she is having between 600- 750ml pday and always her solids before her milk and she is eating much more again.

Bubstruck sorry to here about your PND, But glad you are on the mend.
Kai will not take water yet either but not to worried at the moment I give her watered down apple jucie and have been giving her less and less jucies in her sippy cup she seams happy with that. We also tried her on cows milk and she vomited but she has alway been a vomiter so we have decided to keep her on formula for now as she is strating to keep it down now :clap: but we did ask the doctor about it and we were told that if it was going to be a lactsoe thing it normally comes out the other end if you know what i mean.

I am about to try for the first time the photo gallery to have a look at everyones photo, thats if I can work it out..

we went to the bank and have been to the lawyers about buying our land so now all we have to do is wait I hate sitting there not really know what is going on but I guess it will all work out in the end we have some builders comeing up with some designs for us, they should be ready on monday for us with some costings aswell but then DH will be going away again for two weeks and we will have to wait for him to come back..

DH is sick so I better be a good wife and help out a bit instead of sitting here and talking to much have a great weekend talixx

Welcome back Bub Struck.
Just in regards to your questions about water, i had the same problem a few months ago, DS would not drink water, i would put small amounts in his food and when he was in the bath i would give him a washer to suck on, also on hot days i would give him a wet washer and he would suck the water out of it. Its not ideal but at least he is getting his fluids. With the milk, i started dialuting the cows milk with water and i would only do it with one bottle per day for a week so if he was having three bottles of formula i would do one 1/2 water and 1/2 cows milk and the other two bottles of formula for that week. then the next week i would do two bottles of 1/2 milk and water and then the next week all three would be milk and water, then i would gradually increase the milk and decrease the water level until he was having all milk. Hope this helps.

Hello ladies

You prob dont remember me, i came in about a month ago and said hi! But my computer crashed, so i havent been online for a while! I have a beautiful little girl Annika Matisse, a wonderful DP, am so against the idea of marriage LOL. Still breastfeeding my biting lil munchkin, who has only 2 teeth, red hair and is just walking around furniture. Not fussed at her taking her time with that one!!

Sleeps: Im really Lucky, Annika still has 2, sometimes 3 naps a day of about 2 hours each. if 2 naps, they're generally about 11am and 3 pm. then down for the night by about 7pm. I love it, gives me and DP some "us" time which is great.

im off to take my munchkin to the park while the sun shines, she loves the ducks :) but i hope to be more of a regular now!!

Bath - checked out your pics, they are great,esp like the one of your and DH with your long plaited hair! I don't think you have aged at all. Verity looks so cute as a little toddler, her and Wade have such similiar features. Hope you are feeling better and DH too!

Bub struck - welcome back! Congratulations on winning the fight with PND, hope it continues to be happy road for you and your family. Regarding the lactose intolerance, I have been down this path as Marley had a allergy to cows milk protein (diagnosed through allergy pr!ck testing). Lactose intolerance is different and symptoms are usually diarrhoea, red sore bums, bloating and irritability but it never causes a rash or allergic reactions (typing this from the sheet I got from paed). Did he have diarrhoea? Might be a good idea to get it checked out JIC. Marley has grown out of her allergy but we still had to take it very slowly with the introduction of cows milk, 1ml of milk each day, doubled every day. She is now on 100ml of milk + formula and so far so good. Not sure what you can do with the water situation. Marley is not a huge water drinker but if I leave her cup on the highchair she will sip from it. I think the girls suggestion of a big cup is a great idea. Can you mix the veggies into something you know he does like?

Tali - sounds like things are progressing well with the land/house. Must be getting exciting getting the designs etc. Hope your DH is feeling better too.

Not much happening around here today, too cold! DH has worked all weekend. Made some delicious olive flatbread out of Donna Hays latest mag and it was so good! Had it hot out of the oven with some dip. Made some anzacs but something went awry and they weren't so good - ended up in the bin!!!! Was going to give ginger snaps a try later. Kids are great, Marley still enjoying walking everywhere, she is getting more confident each day. I have loaded a short video of her walking in my photobucket site.

Must be off Marley has just woken so will head down the street for some lunch and the paper.

Not much new happening with me. lachlan is walking around really well. I noticed yesterday afternoon that he was a bit wobbly and unbalanced on his feet. I didnt think much of it until about an hour later when i realised that i had put his shoes on the wrong feet!!! Oh dear, im blaming the pregnancy for that one!

Hi again, Katnap - computer crashes are crippling, aren't they?
Had a great weekend up in Trentham, spent most of it indoors, but that was just fine with us because the church was divine - rad heating, under rug heating and the wood fire...perfect! I made mulled wine each night and our gourmet spread on Sat was excellent. Gourmet brekky's, too! Oscar was great and I only needed to use the arnica once. Most of us brought our oils and we had some aromatherapy blend or other burning the whole time we were there. I also had a bath in the luxury bathroom with Oscar, with jojoba oil, frankincense, cedarwood (he still has a cough), patchouli and mandarin. We smelt divine! I'll post some pics of the church soon. Oscar slept most of the way there and back, which is so different from our first girls weekend where he screamed most of the way there...only to discover the next night that he had his first cold (green snot solved the riddle!). DP doesn't need to know that I ate fruit loops for brekky...I finished the box there!
Mel - I think I'm gonna have to subscribe to Donna Hay...I saw that I can afford it on FlyBuys and I heard your voice in my head...so it might just have to be done...
Gotta sort out something to eat. I feel a bit crappy cos I'm catching a cold :(

Donna - work is so good for catching up on emails! Chelsea had a ball with her friend but they certainly know how to make a mess. They changed outfits so many times I lost count and the dress up box contents were strewn all over her bedroom. We made fairy wand cookies and they did some painting. They were both a bit rough with Marley and at one stage locked her out of the bedroom which upset her. Better get used to that happening I think! PML about shoes on the wrong foot - Chelsea does that all the time!

Maya - sounds like a wonderful weekend, can't wait to see pics of the church. The bath was obviously a winner! Definately get Donna Hay, its the best money you'll spend and all the recipes are so simple (and delicious!). BTW, haven't had fruit loops in years!

Mel - neither had I, and I still haven't given it away yet, but it might explain why Oscar didn't go down for a first nap till just before we left!
