Hi girls :) I only get cold when I sit down in front of the 'pute! LOL if I'm up and doing a bit of housework I warm up enough. Mmmm coffee...Freddo... you've inspired me Mel! :D
Nickers; I've said it before but I'll say it again: What a complete gem you are knowing all the exact dates! :cheer: i just wouldn't have a clue! Thanks darl. Yeah, it'd be ace to see Emishka and Jaspen and all the other rare posters come back for their June babys birthday celebrations :)
Hi all,
Thanks for all the birthday wishes, we had a BBQ on Sunday night with my brother and SIL which was great, I made a teddy bear cake which is in my gallery, it turned out alright I think, had a few disasters along the way but we got there in the end.
Also thanks for all the congrats on my little man, I must say that I'm sad because I know I'll never have the mother/daughter thing, but I think I was more upset when I found out Cody was a boy then this time around, I actually had a feeling for a few weeks that it was a boy but I kept them to myself. But as Bath would say I should trust my intuition.
I'm actually quite looking forward to meeting this little monkey and know that all my boys are blessing and are here to teach me about myself, I think.
hugs xoxo
Oh, Amanda, there are mummies who will never know the Mother/Son thing, too! Blame your DH ;) All kids are blessings, daughters or sons, aren't they? I know that sounds twee, and at least you have some time to adjust to that reality before bub comes along.
I was reading that Melbourne is going back to genuinely cold winters for another few years! I don't mind, I like a good excuse to rug up in delicious winter clothes. It means I might have to rug up my horse a bit better, though...
Nic - ditto what Bath said, I never got my arse into gear about recording the birthdays and I hate to say it, but I rely on your diligence!
Gotta study again...
Its so good to know that even Melbourne people are feeling the cold and its not just me !!!! mind you i feel like I cant complain as it is what I wanted, Just forgot how cold it really gets plus knowing that I havent seen the worst of it yet not helping....
But so far I have been good as I try not to turn on the heat until 4.30 then we are turning it off at night and bhl turns it on when he gets up for work then I turn it off about 8.30 when I have to do the school run, plus we have been very good so far as I and walking to school and kindy every day so at least by the time summer comes around my legs should be smoking lol ( thats if all the extra hot food doesnt go straight to my butt..)
We are now living in Berwick which so far isnt too bad I will be going to a playgroup on friday and hope it nice and friendly, I was told by May's kindy teacher that I need to make local friend so I can put them on my contact list as mine are all to far away to come and get may if I couldnt. I found her quite rude really, like I dont know that already!!!
I was a really brave girl today as i drove to fountain gate and shoped all by my self lol I know this sounds funny but I have never had to drive around with so many cars before dont like it much dont how I will go tring to drive out your way Mel and Maya, but I am sure I will get used the traffic one day... Plus I hate going to shops by myself I always feel like such a scott but I guess thats because coming from such a big family I never really had to shop alone ( well I did have Kai but she doesnt talk much ) But I had to get her a birthday gift gee its hard to get a 2 yr old girl a gift expecally when she has 2 older sibs so has so many toy already, I really wanted to get her a rocking horse but the only one I found was $140 and for us thats just too much, so I ended up getting her a toy dog that grows and learns its name and as she just loves dogs thought it would be good we will soon see on friday...
Well saturday is our 11th annavesery cant believe its been that long!!! we have decide not to get each other any thing this year but thought we might go up to Mount Dandy for lunch or down to the farm on the gippsland hwy that milks the cows at 3.30 each day and has lunch there as well looks quite nice anyway... Then we are having a BBQ on sunday for Kai's b'day with just the family..
sorry this turned out to be such a long one...
Oh, Tali, driving out to me there isn't that much traffic coming from Berwick :) You'll find out when you come up on the weekend for your anniversary (congrats, BTW!). There are lots of playgroups around your area, I don't think you'll have trouble making friends. It's an area with loads of families. And don't worry - I hate shopping centre shopping without my sister to come with me, too! It feels like the walls are moving in on me and I get the heebie jeebies.
Gotta go back to studying before the farewell do for one of the childcare ladies here at uni...
oh Tali, bringing back a lot of memories from when i first moved to melbourne!
i remember trying to go to the local shops the "short" way ie: backstreets, had NFI what i was doing and a 5min trip took 25mins! you'll gradually get used to things.
i hope you like your playgroup. ive gotta go to a new one soon when we offically move cause driving 45-1hr to get to my current one by 9.30am i dont see happening!
i have had a shocking day with Nixon today. DH has been away o/s for 6days now and i think its taking its toll on Nixon. he has been crying for most of the day, whilst i tried going to the shops and getting 1nice pic of the two boys together, never happened, he had a tantrum in the pouring rain and not long after waking from a 2.5hr nap i had to put him back to bed until he calms down because i just cannot deal with him atm!!
Nic I feel for you and really dont know how you, rory and Ali do it with new babies as well I know looking after Kai is hard enough boy can she throw a tandy now!!!! its like the closer she gets to 2 the worse she is becoming she wont have a day nap anymore wont go down at night unless she is sitting on the couch with me and just falls asleep ( sometimes this is 9.30 pm ) she wont eat dinner unless she is on my lap, and last but not least she wont sit in her pram unless she wants too which most the time she doesnt and has to walk!!! I too cant deal with her much but she wont let anyone else near her even BHL, so its all up to me... I am hoping this is all because of the move and she will settle down a bit soon... The other night we put her to bed with her bottle which is how she used to go down she cried for half hour before she was quite but when we went in to check her she had taken off all her PJ's and nappy plus wet the bed so all in all she didnt do to well...
Has anyone else got a none talker Kai will only say a few words but not many maybe 20 if where lucky, do you think I should go get her checked out?
When I droped off Zay at school today I run into his teacher so i asked how he was going and was told that he was sent out of class yesterday ( not that Zay told us this) because he was talking to much and had been given 3 warnings ( good one Zay its was only day 3) anyway the teracher asked if he has ever been assessed for a learning dissabilty, which he hasnt ( this is frecking me out a little ) anyway the teach seems to think that he has one as Zay just cant seem to remember anything ( I have know this for a while but just thought he was been a little s**t ) as he doesnt have the consentration for anything and when asked to do anything forgets what he is ment to be doing 5 mins later, he can never remember what he did at school which I have always yelled at him for as he was just there, he has to remember something but maybe he cant, I kinda feel a bit slack as for the last 3 yrs I have been getting so cranky at him as he doesnt tell me anything and when he was home last month he just would write about anything even though we did lots of things... I wonder what it is I hope its not ADD but hopefully what ever it is he can start getting the help he needs.... Not that much will be done this term as the teacher is to busy doing school reports, but it does make me wonder why no other teacher has picked this up?
Amanda - I'm actually quite looking forward to meeting this little monkey and know that all my boys are blessing and are here to teach me about myself, I think.
What a beautiful way of looking at it. That is so true. Glad the birthday gathering was fun, your cake is fantastic as always.
Maya - how is that Big Mac going down? Bet you feel like celebrating now, exams over. YEAH. How do you think you went? Looking forward to a bit of break now?
Nic - I bet Nixon misses his daddy, but that doesn't help you much! Hang in there, hopefully DH is home soon? Nixon will probably be a perfect angel when he gets home.
Tali - I love Berwick! Its so pretty and there is lots around you - good shops, restaurants, schools etc. You are doing very well with your heater. I am such a cold fish, my heater is on all the time and I can't go to bed without my electric blanket on. Fountain Gate is pretty good, has lots of shops. I haven't been there for a while. I actually like going to the shops either by myself or with ONE of the kids (not both lol!). Chelsea is like a little adult these days and wants to sit down at the sushi shop and have lunch. The toy dog sounds cute, I'm sure she will love it. Congrats on the anniversary, I'm sure you'll find somewhere yummy to visit. Chelsea used to take her nappy off all the time, so I bought some masking tape and that did the trick. Masking tape is harder to get off than sticky tape. You might want to invest in some, saves washing the sheets. Marley doesn't say too much, still alot of babble. You could always go and visit the maternal child health nurse in your area and ask them. Chelsea always forgets what she did in class, sometimes I think she just can't be bothered talking or telling me about it. She asked me one day why I always ask her about her day! I would not take that as being a problem. The teacher has made her observations in a pretty quick time, only 3 days. He is at a new school, making new friends. It will probably take him some time to adjust. If you want peace of mind, maybe take him to a GP. ADD kids tend to be very aggresive and hyper and I don't think Zayden is like that from what you have described? Try not to worry, its probably just normal behaviour.
Marley has started hair pulling! She nearly rips Chelsea's hair out she pulls so hard. Poor Chelsea was in tears the other night, it must have really hurt. I've been telling Marley that she hurt Chelsea and that is not nice, go and say sorry. She walks up and gives Chelsea a kiss and cuddle, then laughs at her. Cheeky monkey!!!! She is such a devil sometimes. Anyone else got a hair puller? And if Chelsea is not paying attention to her, she will pull her clothes to make her follow. I think she is giving payback for all the times Chelsea stepped on her and squashed her when she was a baby.
Better get back to work!
LOL Mel not only do I have a hair puller she also bites and pinches, it such a shame she looks such an angle people always come over to her o say how cute she is and all she can do is scream in their faces its soooo embarasing all I can do and say is " can you tell she is almost 2" most people make a quick exit... You are right about Zay it is very quick to make such a remark but there might be something there it just that no one want to hear those words, disabiltys when it come to your child.... only time will tell... isnt ADHA the aggressive and Hyper kids and the ADD ones just cant constrate... I dont really know but I know they are a bit diffrent to each other but I just hope it would be neather when it come to Zay...
Tali - you should google and check it out, be careful that you don't read too much into it though. Remember that some behaviours are normal. If you need any help with contacting someone for an assessment, PM me as I work with many child psychologists who specialise in ADHD/ADD. As I said, you might need to do this to put your mind at ease.
I wonder if Marley is going to graduate to biting and pinching? Maybe that's next!
Time to go home.
Morning all,
Happy birthday to all the bubs born today, Kailaia and I think Samuel.
Well I had a check up the other day and the Dr said I'm boringly normal which is good as you know and he also said since my pre eclampsia started at 35-36 weeks with Cody it would most probably start around the 33-34 week mark this time if I get so to watch for signs.
We're going camping this weekend and going to do a bit of 4wding as well as it will be the last time for a while as I'm not getting and smaller and it's getting uncomfortable.
Tali Kailen my oldest has a slight learning disabitity if that's the term they like to use but not me. His reading and writing is behind the others slightly, but they have him doing stuff with teacher's aids to help him, his partially comes from hearing problems that came to light at preschool, he's been getting help for nearly two years now and gets assessed regularly to see how he is progressing. So it may not be all bad for Zay, just know that it's not your fault.
Hi Bath, Mel, Maya and Rory and Nickers.
Happy Birthday to any that I will miss over the long weekend as well.
hugs xoxo
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Kailaia & Samuel - our 060606 babies!
Amanda - it's nice to be boringly normal when pregnant. 4WD while pregnant would be interesting lol!!! Enjoy your camping trip. Hope the weather is good to you.
My MIL did something really nice yesterday. On Wednesday I was asking her if she would have Chelsea on Thursday over the school holidays, which was no problem. Yesterday she went and bought tickets for her and Chelsea to see Disney on Ice!! They are going to catch the train in and Chelsea was bursting at the seams to tell me last night, she is soooo excited. She was going to race into school tomorrow to tell her teacher how lucky she is to have such a great nana. I offered to pay for the tickets but MIL wouldn't accept it. She is a pretty good MIL, which I am lucky to have.
I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend.
:happybirthday: Samuel
Just think this time 2 yrs ago I didnt even know I was going to be holding a baby at the end of the night!!! as Kai didnt start making her self known until 8pm and then came out at 11.45pm on the only day I really didnt want her to come lol
Well even though it is Kai's birthday we have decide to make it her day on Sunday when the family is comming over and that way BHL will be home to she her open her present. As she is only 2 we didnt think it would matter much to her anyway its just been Zay and May having a fight this morning as Zay kepted saying that Kai was 2 today when May kepted say that she wont be 2 until Sunday didnt matter how many times I told them that they were both right, May just didnt understand and Zay is just a big tease....
Kids gotta love as no one else will lol
Amanda glad all is on track and you are boring and normal, I too when 4x4 driving while PG with kai but got so many bracksen hicks (sp?) that we had to turn around and head home but that could be because I hate 4x4 driving as it scares the living day lights out of me so maybe I was just to tence... Hope you have a great weekend...
Mel- thanks for the PM I will keep it in mind and have a talk to BHL about it see what he thinks, we do have private health so hopefully it would cover some costs but I think I might wait until next term as that way he would have been at the school for at least 4 weeks then we will see where to go from there, but I will defently get the number off you might as well go see the best if we have to see anyone.
Your MIL sounds wonderful I wish I had one like that, mine text BHL to say happy birthday to kai but that was it no love nana or anything plus it really bugs me because she wont ever call Kailaia by her full name because she told us it was a rediculas name for a child so she will only call her Kai, which is what I and most people call her but it just bugs me that she wont ever use her real name....
Well went to a playgroup today the ladies seem nice so I will go back plus the girls just did a plate so now I will have to keep going back just so that I can pick them up lol. I hope once I have been ther a while I will feel more settled in, both there and here in Melb as a whole as right now with this cold and feeling a bit lonely I begining to wonder what I got myself into lol but I alway feel that way to start with...
Happy 2nd Birthday for yesterday Kai & Sam!Today was Alexander's birthday (Gabbysmum) so come in and say hi!
Tomorrow is Aleise (Neeny)
I dont have a hair puller but i have a "pusher" at the moment.....he seems to think it is funny.....
A big Happy Birthday to all our Junie Babes...so sad they are all nearly 2 years old, boo hoooo and Woohoooo all in one. We are finally all settled in to our new life in Indonesia, it is really breathe taking at times we can see the glacier from our house, it is very cold most of the time and with snow on the mountain peaks it is hard to believe we live in Indonesia. Michael wants another baby, butttttt I'm not convinced, so I guess we won't be pregnant anytime soon, all the kids are on holidays now til mid August so we will be out and about to explore. The bus up and down the moutain into town is an experience in itself., I'll be posting some photo's on facebook soon.
Now I have to go back and read up on you all.
Bye
Dee
PS Nathan is a biter, a push and puller anything to get your attention to give him what he wants, he also thinks he's very funny.
Also about 4 months ago Nathan started telling knock knock jokes, (as best a one year old can) well finally today he changed the joke, I'll have to capture him on camera,I keep forgetting.
Still breast feeding although it is night/morning feeds only with an occassional day time one snuck in. He talks pretty well and loves to dance and sing with his sisters but most of all he LOVES trucks, cars, planes, helicopters absolutely obsessed with them.
His favourite songs at the moment are incy wincy and the wheels on the bus.
Happy Birthday Junie babies! Alex has had a lovely week celebrating, we had 2 parties one for the family and one small one for a few friends. We went to one of Gabriella's friends parties yesterday and Alex was trying to blow out the candles and open the presents cause he thought it was all for him - very cute. :D
Dee, fantastic to hear from you and that you have settled in to life in Indonesia. It sounds like a beautiful place and I am sure you and the family will love the experience. At least you are with your DH now. Nathan sounds like a real little character.
Alex is another singer and dancer - he just loves it and walks around the house singing all day long. He still goes a million miles an hour and some days we find it hard to keep up. He gets covered in bruises, expecially his head as he uses it for a doorstop . He still co-sleeps with us, starts the night in his bed and then wanders over to ours at some point, as does Gabriella now so our Queen sized bed is getting a bit squashed to say the least. :cryinglaugh:
Our big "issue" is sharing, wont have a bar of it and he really carries on when he doesnt get what he wants. Poor Gabriella cops the brunt of it and is generally pretty complacent and lets him have what he wants but every now and then she stands her ground (as she has every right to) and then WW3 breaks out!
Hope everyone else is well and enjoying their gorgeous Junies. :)
Dee - great to hear from you. Sounds like you have settled into your new life pretty well. I just checked out your pics, it looks amazing! The mountains look like you could reach out and touch them from your back door. I didn't think it got cold in Indonesia? I always thought of it as warm and tropical. That bus does look a little dodgy!!! Nathan sounds like a character. Are there many other Aussies in the area you live? Make sure you keep in touch.
Nic - Marley can be a bit of a pusher too lol!!! On Saturday, Chelsea was looking in the pantry and because Marley also wanted to look in the pantry, she pulled Chelsea's hair so hard that it pulled her down on her bum. The tears started (Chelsea wasn't happy!) and Marley went and cuddled her, then pushed her out the way to get into the pantry. Mission accomplished! She is such a devil sometimes.
Ang - your sharing issues sound just like mine - Chelsea will give her what she wants sometimes, but the other times it's a scream fest!
At daycare on Friday, they told me that Marley had been pulling other kids ears, they said it wasn't done in a nasty way, but rather trying to wiggle them. But they would prefer her not to do it as the other kids were getting a bit freaked out by it. The hair pulling is still happening but she has never pulled anyone elses hair, just Chelsea's. Thank god she is not biting.
Had a bad discovery on Saturday - Chelsea has lice!!!!!!!!! She has never had it before, and I suppose she has done well not to have had it. Did the trip to the chemist and she said she had sold 5 kits in 30 minutes. I used the K24 kit and it has hopefully done the job. I stripped her bed and washed everything in hot water, soaked all her hair ties, changed Marley's bedding, even got DH to go through my hair with the little magnifying glass they give you. Thankfully I am all clear! The comb thingy was a bit tricky to use but Chelsea has very fine hair so it wasn't too bad. I pity the poor kids who have thick hair. We have to repeat the treatment in 7 days. You can now get a preventative spray which I might have to invest in. It's so horrible thinking about those awful little critters being on her hair!!!!
Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend. :)
Ewwwwww the dreaded lice factor, we had a bad time with them about 6 months ago, I hate them....not that anyone would like them, making me itch right now, lol. stay on top of them and they willl go, you know you should actually continue treatment for atleast 21 days as this is the lice cycle, that way any egg/lice that may have been missed will die and the head will be clean and clear. Preventative spray's are a great idea and did you know that it is actually the eucalyptis that kills them not the tea tree, so you can make your own, as they can be expensive.
Lol at Marley's ear fetish, hehehe, Atleast it is not a boobies fetish like Melissa has, sooooo embarrassing.
Nice to hear from you Ang.
Nathan is whinging at me, better go.
Happy birthday to all the Junies i have missed; Cody, Kai, Sam and Alexander - hope they all had lovely days.
Tali - glad you are all settled in and starting playgroup etc! Hope Zay's teacher finds out what could be the problem and get some help for him, must be frustrating for you that none of his previous teachers have noticed before.
Nic - how are the renos going? looks like a big job but your house will be so lovely when finished. When is Trent back? I'm totally dreading when James goes to Italy, 11 nights by myself!
Dee - wow you're in Indonesia now! Hope the move went smoothly.
Ang - Hi! I can so picture Alexander being a million miles an hour still! wow at you still co-sleeping with both of them - we have a queen which Oscar climbs into whenever we have thunder and thats it - im awake all night purched on the edge! - we need a king!
Mel - eeeek at the lice. I'm sure its something we'll all have to go through once they go to school but it must still be quite ewww! Hope you've sorted it out - will have to remember the K24 kit that you used for future reference - im sure its only a matter of time now Oscar goes to 3 year old kindy!
Amanda - congratulations on your little man. Sorry he wasn't your princess but i know you'll love him just the same.
Rory - my boys play well most of the time but have the odd day where they just rub each other the wrong way all day and i'm ready to keep them in sepreate rooms by 10am! They have such sweet moments when they just randomly kiss and cuddle then 3 seconds later Will is beating Osc over the head with a piece of wooden track - ouch! poor Osc!
Hi to Maya, Bath, Jess, Jaspen and everyone else ive missed - memory like a sieve - blamed on baby brain (even walked into the mens change rooms at swimming today and there was a chap in there - so mortified!)
Take care and hope all the rest of the Junie birthdays are great - must try and get in here more often but time is just flying so completely out of control i don't every seem to have chance to sit still anymore! and thats just with 2 - whats ot going to be like with 3 -eeeeeeek.
ill stope rambling now....
Julie xxxx
bugger - that was less than half my post - i had about another 4 paragraphs of news but its disappered! can't retype it now as boys need to be got up - grrrrr!
Julie x
Wow Julie I cant believe how quickly your pregnancy has gone - wont be long now! Have you picked out any names yet? As for the beating over the head with track - :cryinglaugh: had to have a good laugh at that one. Alex got given for his birthday from a friend a minature kiddies whipper snipper which he loves and has already bonked Gabriella on the head with!
We are lucky that so far (touch wood) we have managed to avoid the lice factor too. Can remember as a kid my sister having them and that was shocking as she had long ringletty hair.
Dee - do I have to treat it everyday for 21 days? I am so new to all of this any advice you can give me would be great. How do you make your own spray? You are right, it is expensive.
Julie - so good to hear from you. I hate it when I lose a post, very frustrating. Hopefully Oscar won't have too many head lice issues. Boys with quite short hair seem to avoid it. Some of the boys at Chelsea's school have their hair almost shaved to avoid lice.
No once a week for 3 weeks should do it, but depending on the infestation and to get the eggs out you should use conditioner on dry hair let sit for a couple of minutes and then comb through with the lice comb atleast every 2nd to 3rd day at bath/shower time, just makes it easier to get rid of them. I would do the three weekly treatments though even if you think you have everything out, they are good at hiding and holding on to the hair so definitely follow through on the entire cycle. Did you let the school know? They will send a note home for other parents to treat their child's hair, it is anonymous so no one will know who reported it. There is a recipe somewhere on the net here but basically,it is 250 mls of water and about 5 drops of eucalyptus oil and 3 drops of tea tree oil and 3 drops of lavender oil. Or you can add a about 10 drops of each to a cheap conditioner. I think it works!! And it smells nice.
Thanks Dee! Great advice which I will definately follow up on. I sent a note to school today to let them know but I am sure Chelsea will announce it everyone lol!!! I have googled the preventative spray and its pretty much as you said. Hopefully I can keep them at bay.
happy birthday yesterday to Annaleise (Simone) & Freya (Jo)
Tomorrow is a big happy birthday to FLYNN & Ryan (Candy)
reno's going ok, painting gets done next week that will get the ball rolling cause after that the flooring, waredrobes, bathroom get done and then the kitchen will start in about 3-4weeks.
Nixon is a sick boy atm, he is on the lounge asleep. doc said its just a cold (must be a bad one he hasnt been sick like this since this time last yr) and he has a middle ear infection.
he had a coughing fit for almost 2hrs today and woke up thismorning crying called out mummy but before i got in there he was sick.
Trent is back got back on sat, then he told me some disturbing news that 3 blokes tried to rob him and he fought off 2 of them, 1 ran and then he ran back to his hotel....he never told me over the phone for obvious reason's.
Good evening Junies and Happy Birthday to all the June bubs! AND great to hear from you Dee (can't wait to hear more about your move) ! Good to see you in here Ang (nee Gabysmum) happy birthday Alex! Looking forward to the Fabulous Flying Flynnie's birthday party tomorrow Rory! Got a sleeping Niall in my arms ATM. No nap today except for this. hiya julie and mel and Nic (OMG at your DH being mugged!!!) Thinking of you Maya hope you're relaxing now! ok... better wake this boy, arm getting sore, need to make dinner!
ETA: I forgot to say; yes! Great advice Dee... nits are vile! If they discover them at child care you have to go and collect them immediately. This happened to verity once. I was mortified. They let you back once you fill in a form to say that you have commenced treatment though.
Hope Nixon gets better soon Nickers.:( Nothing worse then a sick little fellow.
Where is your DH atm?
Happy Birthday Flynn, I hope you have a wonderful day.
Nic OMG, I hope that your DH didn't get hurt and poor Nixon I hope that he gets better soon, nothing worse then been sick, but on the upside (if this counts) at least they are a bit more quite and usually just want to sit around.
Dee glad to hear the move went well and great to hear that all is well, have fun exploring your beautiful surrounds.
Mel I feel your pain, Kailen got a really bad couple of doses over a year when he was in Yr 1, another thing you can use is hair spray Chelsea's hair everyday as well as the nits don't like the sticky feel of the spray on the hair and also try and get her not to put her head to close to others (hard I know).
Hi also to Bath, Maya, Rory, Ang and anyone else I've missed.
Well the camping trip went well, with some intermittent rain, the boys had heaps of fun playing in the mud and rain and the 4wding was fun as always. It was great we had a camper trailer to sleep in instead of the tent so was a bit warmer, but not much, got home late Monday and unpacked the trailer and am now catching up on all the washing. My birthday is Friday and I'll be the big 29, we're going out to dinner without the boys and with friends and then on Saturday will be going down the coast for the day, so should be fun.
hugs xoxo
:happybirthday: Flynn
Nic we are all down with a cold here too Kai wasnt very well last night she ended up in our bed all night... I so glad your DH is ok mines the same never tells me about the scary stuff until he is home or most the time I dont find out until one of his mates comes over and they talk about that kinda stuff so I have to sit there with my mouth wide open... Men cant live with them wouldnt live with out them...
Dee you are making me want to move over seas lol ( not that I could move again )
Mel - have to say you made me laugh about the nits comming from the tropic's its something you have to live with poor may had them the whole time she was at school as the just breed like rabbits up there.... You dont have to wash all there bedding you only have to wash their pillow case and towel as lice cant live with out the consent temp of our bodies they can only live off out head for 20 mins and that in the tropics so down here even less... The problem is that she would have gotten them from someone in class and if that child isnt treated or not well enough then chelsea will keep been reinfected... For May I put conditioner in her hair and comb out with a nit comb every 2nd day until I no longer find them... which for May and her think curly hair is a nightmare!!!!
Well on the weekend we had Kai's birthday which was great having family come over, to enjoy the day with us...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FLYNNIE!!!!!!
Hope you had a lovely party today, got lots of pressie and made heaps of mess with your cake.
Nic - sounds like things are coming along well with the reno's. You'll have to post some new pics. Hope Nixon is feeling better today, poor little man. Its not nice when they are sick. Poor DH, how scary and to be in a foreign country too. Thankfully he is ok, but he probably did the right thing not telling you. You would have just worried yourself silly.
Amanda - didn't think boys got them as much? I have been following Dee's advice and put some eucalyptus oil in the conditioner. Put it through her hair last night and used the nit comb and none came out - thank god!!! Will keep doing that every second day and follow up with the treatment again this weekend. I do use hairspray in her hair as its so fine, it's hard to keep in a pony tail but I have been using extra lol!!!! She has the stiffest hair!! Glad you enjoyed your camping weekend, the trailer would have been heaps better than a tent. You must hate coming home and doing all the washing. 29 - you a such a spring chicken!!! I'm sure Friday will be wonderful. Thankfully Chelsea has fine hair which made the comb go through a bit easier. Glad the party went well on Sunday. Make sure you post some pics.
Well I am bit angry today (still) and am wondering what you would do in my position. Last night DH picked up Marley from MIL. When he got home, she looked different but I couldn't work out why. She was very tired so she went to bed early. This morning she woke up and it looks like MIL has CUT HER HAIR!!!!! She has given her a fringe, which I am so not happy about. I feel she should have asked me, not just go ahead and do it - and not to tell me. DH said she didn't say anything to him and he didn't really notice the hair looking different (typical male!!!). I have avoided ringing her today as I am still peeved. What would you do? It doesn't look too bad, but it was her first hair cut and she better have kept the hair.
Thankfully I am going out tonight with some GF's to see Sex and the City, so that should cheer me up!
Tali - that must have been awful having to be on nit patrol all the time. I did read about the nits not surviving long but I just had to clean everything. Creepy little things. Thanks for the advice about the conditioner, Dee told me and I found some stuff on the internet. You girls are so clever.
Hiya girls, gotta be quick cause no doubt will only have a few moments peace
There was no party today :( Flynn is quite sick with a temp, runny nose, runny poo(!) and a cough. I am sad because even though we have postponed the party to next Wednesday (Melb Junie mums - send me a PM if you can make it and I will send my address ;)) I start work on Monday so will miss it! And Flynn was supposed to go to playgroup tomorrow with a cake - once again, postponed to next week, but I will miss it :( We had a little cake and song today and we are having a family do on Saturday, but it won't be the same :(
Ah well, I guess life gives you lessons like this - I will "miss out" on many more days like this, working full tme, so I better get used to it. I know that sounds really bitter, and I am not, but it is just a hard realisation to come to. But really, like I said, I will have to get used to this and not let it bug me. As long as the KIDS don't miss out, that's all that matters, hey?
Better go - lots to do while Flynnie is occupied with ABC Kids!!
just quickly cos I have a brigade meeting to get to, but Mel - MIL has done the same thing...an unauthorised fringe cut! It's mostly grown out now, but I was quite silently upset about it!
Gotta go, kid grabbing at me...
Rory sorry to hear the Flynn is so sick on his big day, I hope he gets better soon.
Well after all this talk of nits and Kailen came to me yesterday saying his head was itchy and wouldn't you know it, he's got them. So we did his hair and only found two biggies and one medium so hopefully that's all. Washed all the boys hair just incase and found nothing and washed all bedding and even Cody's car seat cover.
Is it anyone's birthday today?
hugs xoxo
Ok have to be quick at our computer is driving me nuts we have got the new wireless broadband and its slower than dial up !!!! that and it keeps taking itself off line GRRRRRRRRRRR Maybe it because it a extra windy day....
Mel poor Marley I am sure your Mil didnt mean anything by it and just thought she was helping out but maybe the next time you she her you could somehow bring it up and let her know how much you were looking forward taking her to get her 1st cut...
Rory- so sorry Flynn is unwell ( we are all down with the cold atm as well ) such a shame you will now miss out:( dont beat yourself up about it though
Well I have now decided to give up tring to toilet train Kai for now as she is driving me nuts as she will hold on until I have to put her nappy on to go to school/kindy pick up and will always fill her pants then she knows she is doing it and she will tell me "Yucks" as soon as she does a poo but thats it wont go to the potty.. plus with us all having a cold I am so not in the mood to be cleaning up poo of the carpet... Oh to have my tiled floors again this house is covered in cream carpet but they know we have a 2 yr old and still let it out to us so they should know there will be a few stains before we leave....
Rory - sorry to hear poor Flynn is sick, I hope he is feeling better today. Thankfully they are unaware of their actual birthday so a celebration can happen at anytime.
Maya - I think I need to be silently upset too otherwise what comes out may not be nice lol!
Amanda - glad I am not the only one with the nit problem LOL!!! Must be a pain having to do all the boys hair. Is it easier to do the shorter hair?
Tali - I thought wireless was supposed to be great, you should ring and complain. You are probably right about the hair cut as MIL is not normally like that. I can not even contemplate the TT at the moment. I think I will wait another few months, it's so cold at the moment and I hate cleaning up the accidents. You have it worse with the carpet!
Well I still haven't said anything to MIL about the haircut. I might over the weekend as I have calmed a bit. But I will be polite about it as Tali suggested. Went on a girlie night out on Wednesday, dinner and Sex and the City movie. If you liked the tv show, you'll love the movie. It was brilliant! So funny, I had tears rolling down my face on a few occasions. We went to the Westgarth Theatre in Northcote which is a lovely old fashioned theatre with a fully licensed bar! It was such a great night but a late one, didn't get home until 12.30am then up at 6am for work on Thursday. Looking forward to a nice, quiet relaxing night tonight as we are out for a friends b'day tomorrow and that is likely to be a big night.
Hi to everyone and hopefully I haven't missed any birthdays. :)
Happy Birthday Niall, I hope that you have a wonderful day.
Mel it's easier for me and it makes it easier to see the little buggars, glad you had a wonderful night out.
Well my birthday hasn't been to good today yet, I've only been wished a happy birthday from my brother and best friend and of course the boys as I reminded them, but even DH hasn't said anything yet so not to happy about that. We're going out to dinner with another couple tonight and it's also the wife's birthday so that should be fun and we're going down the coast tomorrow for a picnic with these same people.
hugs xoxo
Oh Amanda, so sorry!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Hopefully DH will suprise you with something nice. Have a lovely dinner tonight, you deserve to be spoilt on your birthday!
Another one I forgot!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NIALL - hope your day is filled with laughter and lots of cuddles!
:happybirthday: Niall and Amanda Hope you both have a wonderful day
I would love to go and see Sex in the City movie I loved the shows ( have all the DVD's ) my sister is comming down on the school hoildays and she loved the show aswell so we are hoping to go and see it then.... making a night of it sounds fun so might just have to rope in a few more of my sister and make a night of it...
Well the new Playgroup seems to be working out well the girls all seem nice, I have already been invited to a girls night out but have decide not ot go because I dont know them that well yet plus with the drop in pay we are finding money a bit tighter than normal, But BHL has a medical on tuesday and if he pass's that then looks like he has a job in WA but the only down fall is that he has to make his own way to perth and then the mine will fly him from there so it will be a bit of a outlay...but better money than we are on now, I only worry that he will want to move over there to be closer to work but I know that we are here for at least a year due to our lease....
I have finely had enough of Kai and had to put her down for a nap she is driving me nuts lately as she wont go to bed until 9.30 pm and still wont have a day nap so this is making for a very cranky 2yr old... plus she now wont sit in her prtam at all but wont walk eaither she just follows me around with her arms in the air screaming until I pick her up, which I am tring not to give into but its very hard not too...
