Babies Born June 2007 #4

Hey everyone,
I'm going in for my operation (breast lump removal) in 7 hours and can't sleep a wink. (A bit nervious, I'm sure everything will be fine, just feeling weird.) My MIL is here from interstate to take care of the kids for the day while I have it done, at least I know that my kids are in the best possible care so thats one less worry!

Mackenzie was soooo good today, she is going well with the baby rice cereal I just give her 1 teaspoon mixed with EBM once a day. She loves it! My MIL and I went shopping today at BigW and got the cutest christmas romper with a matching hat!

I have been expressing like crazy and freezing my milk, I have 9 bottles expressed so I'm hoping thats enough to last the 24 hours I can't BF and she dosent waste any. Kenzie likes to snack, so she wont be able to with heating up bottles.

Debbie: I'm so sorry to hear one of your dogs has cancer :( I don't have dogs myself (although would love a ****zu x maltese or a labby) so I can't offer any advice about food etc .. I truely hope that the tests come back not as bad as first thought and your dog is ok. Hope you have a lovely time at your parents farm what a lovely experience for Aiden! I am sure he'll get used to your family after a little while.

Lollie: Welcome! Wow Riley sure sounds like an active little bubby crawling already .. he sure will have you on your toes..!

Mel: Thanks for the suggestions! I made some fahitas tonight and they were a huge hit! DH hates corn chips , but he loves the mexican dinner always nice to serve something different. I am thinking of getting Kenzie a Jolly Jumper for christmas, I think she would love it, I am just not sure how they suspend from the ceiling, I might have to get the frame.. but its so big!

Charleyfrog: Congrats (if thats the right word!) on AF returning. I wish mine would so I can chart and strat planning TTC #3! We just want 1 more and then DH is getting the snipppity snip!
Are your girls feeling better with the temp and rashes? Hope it turned out to be nothing. My DD get bad rash on her scalp and very dry skin, I'm trying to find gaia products to put on her atm. Thanks for you kind thoughts hopefully the next time I post it will all be over and the result will confirm its nothing nasty! Oh and I love the idea of a feeding record you suggested to teepee2, I will probably start that when I give Kenzie different foods, fabulous idea.

Zofia: Is Diana over the grumps from having her needles done? Did I read the post right and your getting married in a few weeks time? I have sort of started Kenzie on solids like 2-3 teaspoons once a day of rice cereal only mixed with EBM. That will prolly be it untill 6 months when I start introducing veges. Its going well so far and she reallly enjoying the new experience and exploring the spoon!

Sarah - Hope your enjoying having your sister here! I'll bet she just adores Lewis!

Tina - How is Mikayla going with her solids??

Hi Girls,

Just a quickie, I'm having a great time with my sister and niece. My niece just loves Lewis and helps with bathing, feeding and playing!!
We went to the aquarium yesterday, Lewis slept all the way round until the end. He absolutely loved the huge fish tank with the sharks etc. He couldn't take his eyes off! So we will be paying another visit in a few months.

Lollie - Wow you sound like a busy Mom and Riley sounds like he's streets ahead with his commando crawling! No doubt we will be picking your brains for advice!!

Babybella - Hope everything went well for you:hugs:

Have to go we are off to the park now and Max Brenner chocolate cafe after that! (strictly for my niece's pleasure fo course!)

Hey there all. I was wondering if you would mind another mother around! My little one was born on the 15th and seems to be very busy at the moment. He has been eating solids for a while and has gotten fussy and only likes mummys vegie soup, vegies, farex with fruit in the morning and home made pears and apples! He doesnt even like custard!

Everyone sounds like they are in the same boat around here, except that i had to give up breast feeding early as i got bad mastitis and celulitis at the same time and my milk just wouldnt come! Was very sad to start with but we can only do our best!

I bought i jolly jumper for little man yesterday for christmas even though i think he wants it now! He is never happy unless he is standing holding on to your fingers! And i really dont get anything done because he always wants to be upright! Hoping he isnt an early walker though i dont like my chances!

He is a bit of a weird sleeper... How are all your little ones coping?

Jackson had his 4 month immunizations today - he seems ok - he didn't like the rota virus one at all and I think has puked up most of it but he seems quite happy and has even had a bounce around in his jolly jumper

Sarah - glad you're having an awesome time with your sis and niece - mmm Max Brenner is so good - love their hot choc

Jen - hope all went well with the surgery and you're back on your feet soon - thinking of you and sending lots of hugs your way :hug:

Debbie - sorry to hear about your dog - i can't have any more dogs as I've had to put two to sleep and I can't handle the sadness

Just popped in to let everyone know my operation was successful anf the lump was removed, however I now have developed mastitis :( It's getting better but the last few days I have been in agony. Both Mackenzie and I have have slept all day and now its 1am and she has *just* rolled from her back to her tummy!!! :dance: and is having a ball playing under her play gym and I am wide awake!

Sarah - So glad your having a great time with your sister and Lewis sounds like hes having lots of fun with your neice!

Katie - Welcome to our little group! I am also getting Kenzie a Jolly Jumper for christmas! I havent bought it yet because I know I won;t be able to help myself getting it out early hehehe I am a shocker when it comes to buying kids toys and clothes and putting them away it just dosen't happen!

Mel - I havent given Kenzie her 4 month immunisations yet and shes 5 months soon. I am petrified of her having a reaction ... shes had her 2 month ones. Does Jackson love his
Jolly Jumper? Kenzie is getting one for christmas!

Babybella - so good to hear from you sweety!! So glad the surgery went well though but am sorry to hear about the mastitis poor thing!! Thinking of you and hope it rights itself soon. Yay on your little one rolling, clever girl!!
Oh and btw, my DH is really the chef in our house - I'm the throw it all together meal person and he is the 'artist', hahaha!! So I do things like all in one quiche where you don't have to make a separate base just mix in whatever vegies/meat you want and pop in the oven........lasagne...............packet casseroles....................ooh! But we looooooooooooooove home made pizzas (we buy pre made bases) and chicken or lamb ceasar salad we add the ceasar dressing to the meat just before it comes out the pan or we do similar but in a wrap instead.
Oh and also drool at cheese kransky hot dogs with mustard, sauce, bacon, onion and cheese................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (also great in a wrap rather than a hot dog bun.)

DH does the chops and veg, the sausage risotto or creamy penne pasta (with mettwurst and sundried tomatoes), or sticky chicken....now there's a drool meal!! hehehe!!

Mel_thekiwimum - hope you beat the thunderstorm!! I don't mind them except when DH is at work and the windows rattle......eeek!! Good to hear that Jackson was great with his immunisations, he sounds like such a happy laddy!! :p

Lollie - oh my goodness!! You are an amazing woman!! Welcome to the ever growing hub! ;) The more the merrier I say! So good to have 'experienced' mums.......so many questions forming in my mind for you already!! LOL!!! And wow!! It does sound like a very good thing your little one couldn't wait to come out!! Hehe!!

MumofLewis - I'm so glad you're having such a special time with your sister and niece! Your niece sounds like a fab helper!! Have so much fun creating so many precious memories!

Katie - welcome to you too hun!!! Great to have you as yet another fabulous June mummy!!! Our little ones are only a day apart :p Sorry to hear about your milk not playing nice! I hope that you are ok now and know that you have proven yourself to be such an amazing mummy by simply doing what's best for you and your little one!! Yay you!! :clap: Sounds like your little one is really active, that's great!! My DD would prefer to be upright too, she's just a nosey little parker...........hehehe! Hope you have fun here!

Thinking of all you other mummies!! Hope you are all well and enjoying your gorgeous bubbies!!

Well DD#1 is well now and DD#2's rash turned out to be a staff infection!!!!! Unbelievable!! And the poor lovely just did not like her medicine at all!!! She would gag while I gave it to her and then a few minutes later throw it all up again! :( I rang the doctor because it really was too traumatic for the both of us and weirdly enough, her body dealt with the rash and apart from 2 or 3 spots, it's gone............no medicine required, thank goodness! She just ended up with high temps of 38 after her immunisations and I had to mix panadol with ebm......oh my goodness!! That was almost just as hard as giving her the medicine!! The little monkey refused to swallow and just held it in her mouth. So I'd make her smile and she'd lapse in concentration, swallow then gag :doh: Her temps are normal now *phew*.....but I think I have discovered more of her personality...........my friend put it perfectly the other night........she called her a "fire cracker"!! :lol:

She is so different to her big sister!! DD#1 hated panadol or medicines mixed with anything, she'd just drink it "straight up".............DD#2 hates "straight up", she prefers to mix her drinks ;) LOL!!!

Well must dash, sorry bout the long post - wanted to catch up with you all! DH has just made me a cuppa.............mmmmmmmmmmm, so bbl!!

Caeleb is doing really well. He's such a beautiful little boy, I truly feel so blessed. We went to Natures Cradle (Adelaide store) yesterday for a "looksee". What a great store! I spent an hour and a half walking around, looking at all the great organic/natural stuff for Caeleb and also me! I bought some Hemp Healing Balm for Caeleb's dribble rash. Seems to be working already.

They had a sign in the store which said:

DH was so impressed with that. I spent $400 on MCN for Caeleb. I worked out that it would only take me 80 days of nappy changes to get that money back.

We're off to a Nappy Free Baby information session on Thursday. Apparently, the woman who gives the talk has a 1 year old who no longer wears nappies. OMG!!!

Hi ladies

Welcome Lollie & Katie! Its always great to have some new mums & bubz join us.

Mikayla will be having her 4 month immunisation next week and I'm hoping she doesnt have any reactions. Did any of your babies get an oral gastro vaccination with their 2 month injections??? They told me at the clinic that its a new vacc that babies get in oral form usually with their 2 month jabs - apparently if they dont have it before they reach 21 weeks then its not effective. Mikayla didnt have it and I'd never heard of it until now.

My beautiful baby is rolling around like crazy :dance: She now refuses to sleep on her back and flips over the minute you put her on the floor or in her cot. This morning she rolled so quickly I almost missed it :D I've noticed that when she's on her tummy she tries to pull her legs up underneath her so I'd say she'll be crawling soon enough - OMG our babies are all growing up so fast its scary!!!

Jen glad your op went well. You poor thing, mastitis is so painful - I hope it disappears soon xx

Charly its great that DD#2's rash is getting better - a staph infections sounds really scary but I'm glad she's doing OK. Mikayla is really bad with taking her reflux medication but absolutely loves panadol - go figure!!

I'm at work today looking after end of month and I think I've decided to come back 1 day a week and leave Mikayla with my mum. It just feels great to sit down and use my brain again - I didnt realise how much I missed it until I had to come in for a couple of hours last week. Its our own business so I can be really flexible with what day I come in and can stay as little or as long as I like. I must say I've missed her so much today but the mental stimulation is doing wonders!

Oh forgot to mention..

Mikayla had her follow up ultrasound earlier this month and it appears that her hips are starting to grow normally so she doesnt have to wear a brace at this stage!!!

I was starting to get really worried about the brace so I was elated when the sonographer said things had improved.

Just a quick hi to you all - DD#2 is being a boog! :rolleyes: She had a restless day yesterday as the girls roller shutters were installed so not much sleep for her and then we went out last night so more restlessness. Plus she is a nugget when it comes to feeding and something else is happening near by :rolleyes: I had to take drastic measures and hold her on last night and as soon as I did, she fed. At the last feed today (just finished - what an ordeal!) she absolutely refused me! :( It took almost an hour and a half (so past the four hour mark from her previous feed) for her to take me and then after 10 mins, was not interested but now (tmi) spitting up chunky milk ....... ewwwwww! She wouldn't feed but winged and cried until I stood up and walked around with her. I got a few burps and poos out and she is constantly trying to eat her the top of her outfits (!!) so once settled, i'd sit down and lay her on my lap and she'd hit the roof again .............must admit that I am surprised at how calm I remained (must be tired, lol!!) So hopefully she'll be famished at her next feed and drink really well.

Anywhos, DD#1 has a temp again :doh: so never a dull moment that's for sure!!(plus she has discovered the words, 'but', 'why' and the phrase "I don't want to...." ...............oh gosh! :redface: teehee! )

Must go attend to bubby now so will dash, hope you are all well!

Just a quick question Celsie re: the nappies you are using - I already feel like I am washing all the time............is your washing insane with not using disposables???? I am weighing up my options atm as I had never considered any thing else apart from sposies so am curious as to the pros and cons.............

Oh btw........I do absolutely looooooooooooooove my girls!!!! I just re read my post and thought I best clarify how cute and adorable and precious my girls are!! Hehehe!!! They are also quite comical - DD#1 told me not to be upset because she was making too much noise!! As for DD#2 do you think she may be weaning herself off BM. Have you tried expressing and giving it to her in a bottle to see whether she'd take it that way. A similar thing was happening to a friend of mine and the clinic nurse told her it was the babies way of saying "I dont want your boobies anymore" :D Maybe she's ready to give it up??

Hi Charly! I wash every second day. And it's only one load. The nappies I use are BumGenius, which are a pocket one size nappy. The covers and inserts I hang on a clothes horse at night before I go to bed and it's dry by the next morning. I have about 24, which I have never run out of with full time use.

If you live anywhere near Natures Cradle in Brighton, they will actually let you hire nappies to use to see if you like them, before you outlay any money.

Tina - that's great news about Mikayla. I'm really happy for you all! :D

I went to the 'Nappy Free Baby' talk today. Very interesting. What they said made real sense, so I'm off to Big W tonight to by Caeleb a potty. If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to pass your name and email address on to the lady for more information.

Just a quickie from me..
I took Aiden to the health nurse yesterday for his 4month check - weighed in at 8.27kg, and 69cm long!
Sorry for no personals, am abit snowed under atm after being away. So much to do etc etc. I think i have finally admitted to having pnd, so, am going to my dr on Monday to talk to her about it. Having my dog get sick was the final straw for me i guess.
I have been reading your posts, and you all are going great... Congrats Tina on the good results for Mikayla.
I use disposables now, but, when i was using flats, i was washing every second day. I cant say i miss it at all... that, and the folding. I guess if i used mcns, it might of been easier. But, once i started to work, i decided that my time was more precious.

My sister and Neve have just left for England. We have had a great time, I'm really sad to see them go, don't know when we will see each other again. My niece loved playing with Lewis and I'm sure he will wonder how come it's so quiet around here again! He was such a good boy while they were here. He only cried 3 times in the 2 weeks so my sister is amazed at what a little angel I have. BTW he is 7.3kg and 65cm, and 4 months old tomorrow so coming along great. He is nearly touching his feet now and I have just bought him foot rattles which he stares at non stop.

Debbie, I'm sad to hear you may have pnd. The fact that you recognise it can only be a good thing so I hope you get some help really soon.:hugs: Aiden sounds like he is doing so well so at least he is a happy boy. Please vent on here anytime, we are all here for you.

Katie and Jen - SNAP! I have bought Lewis a Tigger bouncer for Christmas. I'm dying to get it out now but DH won't let me! I want to get him an exersaucer aswell but am thinking of just getting a baby walker with lockable wheels as he will get more use out of that and they are cheaper.

BabyBella - I will try and think of some meal ideas although I am not the expert, my husband is a chef. But have you ever looked on that website called taste, it is brilliant, has all the recipes from all the magazines, well worth a look.

Talking of food, how come before my sister came I was dieting hard but stuck at 62 kg, but in the 2 weeks she has been here and I have eaten like a pig, I've lost 300 grams??

Well I should go now and have an early night, I'm exhausted from having a 5 year old tearing around the place!

Hi everyone

Haven't posted in a while as I have been busy writing my final uni assignment for the year. I handed it in last night, which feels like a huge relief. Send me your good vibes so that I pass without having to re-submit it. :pray:

On the home front, we have finally put Diana's newly painted cot together. I will try putting her to sleep in it tonight and will post some photos of it too.

Diana is doing well. She has started sleeping through the night, which is great. :) She has also started giggling and laughing. It is so cute when she does it. And she has worked out that if she pulls the handle on her mobile, music starts to play. What a clever girl! She seems to be consciously grabbing and holding things too.

I am getting married on Tuesday, so am getting excited, but also nervous at the amount of things that need to be organised (and this is only a very small registry office affair!). I just found out that one of my best friends, who originally couldn't make it can come after all, so that's great.

Jen - glad to hear that your operation went well. Must be such a relief. Hope Kenzie's immunisations go well. Diana had hers recently and she was not a happy girl for two days after. Luckily, she is fine now.

Celsie - I am very interested in the Nappy Free idea. My email address is zofia_kk@yahoo.com if you want to pass it on. We have been getting Diana to use the potty since she was 4 weeks old. She uses it well, but is obviously still in nappies, as we cannot often get to the potty in time :doh:, but overall I think its going well. So I'd be interested in hearing more about this approach as I am just going with the flow atm and not really following any guidelines (if that makes any sense).

Teepee - Yay on Mikayla rolling and on her hips getting better. :dance: Diana didn't get any oral immunisations at either her 2 month or 4 month visits, just the injections. She is currently 19 weeks old, so I might ask about the oral vaccine. Do you know what its supposed to be for?

Charly - hope DD#2 starts to feed better for you again. And I don't think your post sounded negative in any way. Everything you write makes it obvious how much you love your little girls. They sound adorable. :)

Debbie - :hugs: I'm sorry to hear you have PND. Good on you for doing something about it. Hope you feel better soon.

Mum of Lewis - Yay on having a good time with your sister. And congratulations on your weightloss! Isn't it great when it seems to happen so naturally. Hope it continues for you and you don't get stuck until you reach your goal.

Hope all the "June Mummies and Bubbies" and all doing really well! Mackenzie is jusr blossoming at the moment! She is almost up on all fours ready to develop the muscles for crawling. I was saying to my MIL this evening I can't believe she will be almost 7 months by christmas ... its reallly scary how quickly time has flown since she was born I am trying to take each moment and really enjoy every minute of her babyhood.

My mastitis is still rearing its ugly head, I posted a thread in the BF section and got some helpful hints and the hot packs are really soothing it. I just wish it would hurry up and get better. :cry:

I am fast becoming an insomnic - I just find late at night when all the kids and DH have gone to bed I actually get 2-3 hours to myself. I have no idea how I am surviving on little sleep and it probably won't last ..

Charleyfrog:Thank you so much for the meal ideas! I am making a fortnightly menu so that it takes the "what are we going to have for dinner" equation out of my day and makes my shoppling alot of efficient! Well thats the plan anyway eheheh. How is DD#1? Did the temp go down again? Its scary when they have a temp and you dont know what is wrong... Do you absolutley stick to 4 hourly feed for DD1?? I purly demand feed my DD and sometimes she goes 6 hours without a feed then will feed on the hour for the next 2 ... I wouldn't worry too much if she refuses sometimes it all works out in the end. Maybe she was feeling off colour from the temps ???

Celsie: I am considering going with MCN but have no idea where to start and I want to go to a shop and actually buy them .. not off the internet. Have you any suggections for me on where to buy??? I am so very confused about the pockets / AIO I have no idea what I am looking for. WOW is all I can say for a nappy free baby at 1! In 12 years of child care I have never seen it ... is there a web site where I can learn more?

teepee2: Its so cute when they roll about isnt it! I can't leave the room now for a few minutes to peg washing etc .. because I come back to find her rolled half way across the room! Kenzie did get an oral immunisation at 2 months. I havent got her her 4 month ones yet. I am waitng till 6 months then will catch her up. I have been looking immunisations up and got a little spooked about the side effects. But I think I have decided the benefits outweigh the risks. Great news about the ultrasound!! :confetti: you must be so relieved.

Debbie: Excellent news on the weight of height of Aiden! He is a big boy!! From memory Kenzie weighed 5.9kilos at 4 months. I have post natal anxiety if you even need to chat please add me to your msn. :hugs:

MumofLewis: Sounds like you had a fantastic time with your sister and Lewis sounds like he is growing well! I checked out the taste website and its excellent! I am going to spend tomorrow sifting through all the ideas I need low calories / inexpensive but tasty meals!

Starfish: What are you studying at uni? I am studying Early Childhood, but have to give it away this semester .. it was just too much for me with a new baby. Congratulation on getting married on Tuesday!! How exciting!!! :confetti: You'll have to post some pics for us!

As for the washing I use sposies and I feel like I wash 24 hours a day ... I NEVER have no washing I must be doing something wrong!

Hi everyone

I just though I'd share this - Diana cut her first tooth today - bottom right. She was a bit sooky this morning and I was beginning to get a bit annoyed with her. I put my finger in her mouth, as I sometimes do to see if she is hungry and felt a little hard tooth. So exciting. Hope she doesn't start biting though... :)

Jen - I am studying Education Leadership (the management and administration of schools and universities). I have a year to go, but may stretch it out to a year and a half, as I think it would be really difficult to do more than one paper at a time with a bub. I have three papers to go... Hope you pick up your course again soon and that it goes well for you.

RE nappies - we are using disposables as our building has a shared laundry, so we only do washing about twice a week. As we are infant potty training Diana I am hoping that in a few months time we can maybe get some MCN, the idea being that she will be going mostly in the potty and the nappy will only be there as a safeguard. Here's hoping.

Starfish - Congratulations on your wedding on Tuesday, how exciting! Make sure you put a bet on the Melbourne cup as luck will be with you! And fancy Diana cutting her first tooth! That's great, is this our first June Baby tooth???

Lewis isn't rolling yet although he does go onto his side, but I don't give him much tummy time so I must start doing it more. When I do put him on his tummy he puts his head down and tries to bite the blanket as he is constantly wanting to put things in his mouth.

He had the oral vaccination Rotavirus at his 2 month immunisations and will have another one on Thursday at his 4 month ones. It is for Gastro I believe and only started in May of this year. Jen I 'ummed and ahhed' about vaccinations too, but like you decided the benefits outweigh the side effects.

Sarah its great that you had such a good time with your sister and the photos as great. I know how much you'll miss each other now that she's gone back. My sis was here from London for 4 weeks when Mikayla was born and it was hard when she had to leave again. And congrats on losing weight thats an awesome achievement seeing as you werent even trying!!! I'd better ask the doctor about that oral vaccination when she goes for her 4month ones next week. Mikayla was the same on her tummy - she absolutely hated it until about a week ago when she rolled over - and now we cant get her to stay on her back :D

thanks for your positive and warm thoughts. Am feeling abit better. Off to gp on Monday, have a chat to her, as well as i want to know why i havent had AF come back yet. Its been 9 or so weeks, nearly 10, since i stopped expressing. We want to ttc#2, and, as much as i hate af, we sorta need it back. Also, aiden is due for his next lot of needles.

Why is Aiden so big... well, according to the "charts" he is the average length of a 8mnth old, and the average weight of a 6month old? So, technically, i figure he is underweight for his height. My friend has a 9 1/2month old, and she is 70cm, and 10kg. But, i guess, there was no chance he would be little, DH is 6ft 5 or something, and i am just short of 6ft myself.

Jen, try a vibrating back massager for your mastitis. I used it, and it did work wonders, but, eventually, the mastitis got the better of me. Thanks for your offer for the msn chat.. i will keep you in mind. I was reading this little booklet teh chn gave me about other peoples stories of pnd, and i kept thinking, well, i'm not that bad, maybe its not pnd after all.... and then i cry... and then i think, well, maybe it is.


Aiden is teething like mad. It is driving me mad :) 4 top teeth. His 2 middle ones, and both canine's. No bottom ones. The poor bugger. Its effecting his sleep (and mine!) Gone has my good little sleeper. None have cut thru yet, and, i dont really expect them to, but, they are so sharp when i feel them, that i wonder if he will be the exception to the rule. God, i hope something happens soon. I have been giving him bonjela (which i wasnt going to do, but i had it, i was desperate, and it provides instant relief, i think cause i keep it in the fridge, so its always nice and cold for him) panadol, brauers teething relief, lignacaine, and now, some brauers calm. And rotating 4 dummys thru the freezer. He is just constantly unhappy, and lack of sleep for him is making him worse. He has been in bed now for 2 hours, he is so tired, and i guess sore, he keeps crying in his sleep. I tried to get some phernergaine (sp??) to knock him out so we would both get a good nights sleep, but, they wouldnt sell it to me. God, i sound desperate... any other tips?

He has a jolly jumper, which, he does like, cause he loves to stand up. When we where at my parents place, he was in a walker for a little bit, and liked it, so, i had one here that i got on special ages ago, and put it away for xmas, but, we pulled it out for him when we got back, and it doesnt support him as good as the one my mum had, and his fell forward and hit his head. Bad Mother :). I guess thats why they say 6months and older! "lightbulb moment"

Tina - wow - look at her go! By gosh, you may have the first crawler on your hands! Aiden is clever (of course) but, not that clever! Good girl Mikayla!

Zofia - congrats and good luck for Tuesday.

Tina - thanks for the support. Baby photo competitions are fun! LOL - There's a couple kids on there thought that are really cute. One little girl called Coco is just gorgeous! But, I think there are a few parents being a little dodgy... 300+ votes in 3 days... :rolleyes: I think Mikayla is going to be crawling any day! That video was great! I wish I knew how to do that.

Oh, BTW Tina. Caeleb is 6.8 kilo and 64cm long and according to the Child and Youth Nurses, he's just perfect. He follows his graph perfectly each time we get him weighed. He's smaller than a lot of other babies his age, but he's breastfed too, which I think makes a big difference. Don't worry about how little you think Mikayla is. As long as your GP is happy, then you should be happy too!

Sarah - your niece is adorable!!! I bet she just loved playing with her little cousin. You and your sister look similar, but I can't say I would have picked you two for sisters. Maybe it's because her hair is so long?!? You're looking fabulous BTW! You've still got that BABY GLOW!!!

*Jen* - The world of MCN is a weird and wonderful one. LOL - Your best bet is to drop into the Nappy threads here on BellyBelly and start reading. Websites like Darlings Downunder and Oz Cloth Nappy have loads of really useful information. I must admit, I'm still learning the ways of MCN, but I love them.

Quick Caeleb Update - We've figured out how to get him to eat his rice cereal. I've watered it down with breast milk and now tip it to the back of his mouth. He LOVES it. I think he's really ready to start solids. He get so excited and has been copying us eating for quite some time now. He's also stopped screwing up his face when we put food in his mouth and makes a "Mmmm" noise. LOL

I've been busy organising and updating Caeleb's photos and I'm going to FINALLY write in his baby book. How bad a Mummy am I??? :(

OMG Tina, Mikayla is so cute! I love it when her bum is in the air!! Lewis is nowhere near that stage, so I will be showing him the video in the morning and telling him he has some work to do!!

Debbie - Poor Aiden's teeth. I have been giving Lewis Wedela teething powder but I don't really understand how it works because you have to give it with a teaspoon of water so I can't see how it helps if he's swallowing it. I don't want to use bonjela either but have got some ready in case it gets bad. I find the trouble with brauers is that you have to give it every 30 mins at first and I keep forgetting.

Regarding Aiden's height, genetically a baby boy cannot be smaller than his mother so he is just trying to catch up with your height!

And another cute fact that I read today is that babies smile more at 4 months than any other time in the first year and a half....so let's enjoy our bubs big cheesy grins at their best!!:lol:

Sarah - i kept forgetting the every 30min thing as well.. till this morning. I gave him one lot, then, about 25min later, gave him another lot (and some panadol and bonjella) and he slept for 2.5hrs... bliss! I should of gone back to bed as well, but, when ever i do, he never ends up sleeping.
Celsie - dont worry - i rely on being able to read back over old posts to try and remember Aidens moments. But, i have to get my a into g and get things happening, otherwise it will be all lost.

Debbie - I just remembered that I read 'Down Came The Rain' by Brooke Shields about her journey with PND. It was fantastic and well worth the effort.

I love the title too... because we all know what happens after the rain...

Well I am all emotional tonight!! :redface:

It's completely touch and go as to whether DD#2 will take a full feed. She will go to at least the 3 hour mark anyways but then might only feed for a fussy 10mins, if that..................the thought of her weaning herself messes with my heart - even though I did that to my own mum when I was 6 weeks old! :rolleyes: I am going to experiment with dropping the 5th feed again...........I just didn't think that it was ok to let bubbies go longer than 4 hours until their meal times are lining up with ours(so at least after 6 months) Even after she wakes fussing, or crying, or chatting away, even if she is around the 3&1/2 - 4hour mark, it is touch and go as to whether she will feed, in my mind, properly. Having said all that, the first feed of the day at around 6.30/7am and the last feed at night around 8.30pm she tends to feed the best. Never had this with DD#1 so is causing me bother in my brain! :redface:

DD#1 is doing much better, her temp is down again. DH thought he noticed her tonsils were very red and she was complaining of a sore throat....but all is well again. Just have to keep an eye on that one.

On an exciting note :confetti: My brother and his family were planning on coming over to visit from interstate but it turned out that their working commitments weren't going to allow them to. With DH's work and their work, the next possible time for us to see them will be next May!! Well, my brother phoned me tonight to say that his wifes work has allowed her the week off and they are leaving tomorrow to arrive in Adelaide tomorrow night!! :confetti: I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooo excited!!!! And now have soooooooooooooooooo much to do as we are going to do Christmas Monday night as we won't see each other over Christmas this year..............eeeek!!! But so worth it to see them and for them to meet DD#2......plus my girls will get to see their cousins for the first time in approx 2 years!!!! Soooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!!!!

Oh Celsie - just about the nappy free thing......is it too late for a 4&1/2month old???? And is it really involved? I only ask as having another little one around, I guess I am curious as to whether I have the time (and energy) to put in to DD#2 to achieve nappy free sooner than what I have (or actually haven't at this stage) with DD#1 - although, in the past days, DD#1 has complained when she has bumped her nappy if there has been a poo in there and today, she lifted her bottom of her seat and wouldn't sit down again because she had done a wee...........wooohoooo!! We're getting there! We're getting there!! Thanks love!

HI all, sorry I haven't been posting much, my husband has been sick for 2 weeks so I've had to do most baby stuff on my own (along with looking after him so he can go to work!).

Sorry havn't time to reply to everyone but there seems to be so much going on, it is so exciting. Our first June baby tooth, Mikayla's video, wow!!! Starfish - congrats on the wedding coming up too. And Jen, glad to hear the op went ok.

Tina - Angus weighed in at just over 6kg at his 4 month visit, still on the low side in weight. Ridiculously he apparently hadn't grown in height which is crazy as he has grown out of many of his outfits in the last 3 weeks. Also, my husband and I measured him in the 2 person technique and he had definitely grown! I still worry from time to time about his weight, but I feed him whenever he is unsettled, and at least 3 hrly during the day and if I try to overfeed him he cries and won't attach! He looks good, just destined to not be a chubba bubba (like his dad). He has beautiful skin too, very kissable!

Debbie - the first step of realising there might be a problem (pnd) is always the hardest and the most important. I hope you get the help you need. I also read Brooke Shields book when I was pregnant (just to hear more about pnd) and found it fantastic. Aiden sounds like a lovely growing boy, you must be so pleased with him and yourself creating such a lovely baby.

Angus has now managed to master rolling from his front to his back, and we even got it on video. He seems to only roll to his side when I'm not looking though. No teeth, but lovely smiles and giggles. Today he sat on my lap unsupported for a good 5 minutes, woohoo!

I'm learning belly dancing on Monday nights too, it is a great break and funny as all get out. Anyone else done it?

Celsie I just take the video footage on my digital camera because by the time I get the proper video camera out she's finished doing what I wanted to record anyway. I then upload them to photobucket so I can email or post the link. Give it a go if you've got a still camera that does short movies - I'm going to eventually put them all together and burn them onto a CD.

sorry we haven't posted for a while the days seem to fly past so fast these days but I have been reading and catching up on all the happenings

Our little man is growing very fast - he's still not rolling yet but he has started doing a "worm" crawl and gets his bum in the air and then pushes off - its so cute to watch but every time I try and video him he stays where he is on purpose I think

loves his jolly jumper - he gets cranky when I try to take him out of it!!

we are going to look at MCN's soon - such a wide range so I'm trying to read as much as I can first

Celsie - I voted for Caeleb - he just looks adorable in that picture - and so tiny compared to your signature pic made me go awwwwww

Charly - thinking of you with DD#2's feeding issues - Jackson is the opposite- is having about 7-8 small feeds a day but if I try to give bigger feeds less often I end up getting vomited on in huge amounts - our paed suggested putting him onto solids will help so I'm off to get some bowls, spoons and rice cereal this week and will try that

Jen - glad to hear the op went well - and I'm sorry to hear about the mastitis hugs to you - the oral liquid Jackson got at his 4 months immunisations was for rota virus and the 2nd lot has to be given before bubs is 24 weeks - I know this was the one Jackson reacted to the most cos it all got puked up within about 2 minutes of being given and he vomited heaps the next day which he'd almost stopped doing before his immunisations

Ok ... Since when did our babies grow up so fast!!! It feels like Mackenzie was born last month and she is now getting on all 4's ready for craling soon... I can't believe it. I am happy but sad at the same time iykwim .. they sure aren't babies for long are they. We have no sign of any teeth at the moment although some very red cheeks .. perhaps that is a sign.

Starfish: WOW :dance: how exciting for you and Diana! I know what you mean about the biting .. Mackenzie thinks its fun to bite down then turn her head quickly sideways I get angry and say NO but she laughs .. :shrug: About the university.. because we plan an TTC #3 and we have decided that I will be a SAHM untill all our little ones start school, I have lost motivation because I have soooo many other things to do and wont be going back to work for a long long time ... so I am not sure when I'll be going back although I do miss the brain stimulation.

MumofLewis: Mackenzie used to bury her head in the blanket too when I put her on her tummy, but after a few weeks the muscles seems to grow quickly and now she flips over to her tummy when I put her on her back and is practicing pulling her legs up under her. I wish she was still a newborn for a little longer :(

teepee2: Mackenzie is about the same size as Mikayla (6.1 kilos) and she turned 5 months on the 4th Nov .. I didnt think she was overly small but then again I have nothing to compare her with visually. She is having a check up at the paedatrition(sp?) in 4 weeks so if there is any concern Im sure he'll tell me. I love Mikaylas updated ticker photo I'll have to update Kenzies when I get a chance. I just looked at the video and she is definatly getting thoughs legs up user her .. You had better start putting in thoughs plastic powerpoiint safety things in! We have the same play gym! What a great idea about the capturing video on your digital camera .. I miss alot of stuff because by the time I get the video out she has stopped doing what I wanted to get on tape iykwim.

EDIT: I *just* measured Mackenzie and she has grown!! She weighs 6.9 kilos (exactly on the green 50th percentile line) and measures 68cm lon( A whopping 97th percentile for height!) She must have just had a huge growth spurt!!! Although for weight for height chart she is only on the 3rd percentile ?!?! :dunno:

Celsie: I read that you have a photo of Caeleb on baby express? Can you repost the link so I can vote because I can't find it! Can you please explain to me what the difference between a pocket and a AIO is please! I am so confused, actually I should prolly post on the nappy thread should't I. Don;t feel bad about the baby book. I have scraps of paper in a little box on when Kenzie did what first and need to write it in .. I might do that today if I have time.

We are TTC #3 asap too so maybe we will end up in a belly buddy group together :laugh: With you and your DH being so tall I think Aiden is defintaly not going to follow the "normal" line. My DD#1 didn't follow the normal line for height she was off the charts and about 60th percentile for her weight and she hasnt changed in 11 years. She is 11 and as tall as me!!! I honestly wouldn't worry. Why wouldnt they sell you phenergan ?? Maybe they are cracking down, I have heard of some parents giving it to their kids every night

Jen - I have been giving Lewis more tummy time and he is def getting stronger and putting his head down less. I reckon they can use the jolly jumpers for a good while after 6 months.. Anyway you can always sell it on ebay afterwards! I can't wait to put Lewis in his.

Lewis weighs 7.74kg now. I want to put the car seat in instead of his capsule but want to put it forward facing so i don't have to pay twice to get it fitted. Does anyone know if it's 8 or 9kg they have to be?

Ok so update on my tribe :p......

Well Monday afternoon/evening, Christmas in November, was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo wonderful!! It was so precious and special to watch my brothers 2 little ones (5yrs & 18months) play with my little ones!! Their 'baby' wanted to wrap her arms around DD#2 all the time and if you moved the baby away from her, well lets just say, she wouldn't be too impressed!! LOL!!! Their eldest really took my eldest under his wing and even though its been almost 2years since they've seen each other, they played like a house on fire!! It was so lovely to watch. Even my 18month old niece was happy as anything to come and get unprompted snuggles from her aunty :heartbeat:

I have been worried about Christmas for my side as this is going to be the first year without my .......well, biological father around......long painful story but effectively, since July this year (so DD#2 was only 3 weeks old) he has removed himself from us all. But it really was the most beautiful, fun, relaxed time we have had as a family in years............makes me wonder...............it really did feel like Christmas as DH & I did all the hosting, prep, set up, cooking (even cleaning :rolleyes: - thank goodness for dishwashers! lol!) but weirdly enough, we really didn't mind. We did bonbons, chrissy pudding....the lot!!! Of course of all the nights for DD#2 to be completely unsettled and not feeding well.............hehehe! Not to worry.

My brother and his family came over for a quick goodbye coffee yesterday afternoon and today my eldest asked if she could play with her cousins again. Sadly I had to inform her that they were travelling home today but we are planning a big trip over next year...........yay!!! It was so lovely to receive a text from my brother saying thank you and that they had the best time in Adelaide that they have ever had before!!!

So now just feeling really tired oh and DD#1 decided to stuff a sultana up her nose this morning.......................what the?!?!?! :cryinglaugh: I still can't get over that she did that!! I laugh every time I think of how I had to tweezer a juicy sultana out of my daughters nose this morning!!! Unbelievable!!!

So now the next focus is DD#1's 3rd birthday in a couple of weeks!! I truly cannot believe that my first baby is about to turn 3 years old!! When I think about it, that means I only have her at home with me for another 2 years before she goes to school :( Time is so precious isn't it???

Well, I might go grab a cuppa before the hellish task of washing DD#1's hair begins........................no really, I will miss her when she goes to school......surely she can't scream for the next 2 years every time I wash her hair?!?!?! :lol:

Charly - They say the best time for nappy free training is between birth and 6 months, so you're well and truly in the time frame. They do say you can teach an older baby, but it's not as easy.

Funny thing happened today... Caeleb discovered that he is a boy! LOL - I was changing his nappy and he reached down and gave his little package a 'squeeze'. I thought, "Oh no it's begun! He's never going to leave it alone now for the rest of his life!!!" ROFL :lol:

Okay, it's my 9th Wedding Anniversary today, so I'd better go and spend some quality time with my gorgeous husband!

Thanks Sarah & Tina. We had a quiet one this year as we're low on cash and Tate had to work, but we're going out for dinner on Saturday night to celebrate.

Tate had a CT scan done last week. Results show a small growth on his liver. :( The doctor said in 90% of cases, it will just be a cyst. They want to do an u/s in 3 months to see if it has grown and what it is. I can't wait 3 months to know if the cancer has come back. I've got him booked in for some time in the next couple weeks to get it done so we know once and for all. I'll let you know how it goes.

Celsie - happy anniversary for the yesterday. So sorry to hear that they have found another lump, i think you are right to go get it checked out sooner, you dont need this hanging over your head for another 3 months. I will be praying that it is all ok.

Aiden has not yet discovered his crown jewells.. although, i bath him in the laundry tub, as he is to big for the baby bath, and i hate wasting water in the big bath, so, in the tub, he is sitting him abit, and i wash his fast, no play time or anything, so,he probably hasnt had a chance yet... oh, well, i am sure he will make up for it! :lol:

Charly - glad to hear that your christmas in november went to plan (minus dd#2 playing up.. but, they have perfect timing dont they).

I went to the doctors, discussed PND, and the other factors in my life that could be causing my feelings. She was very lovely, my gp. We decided medication is not the answer, which i am glad, but, something had to give. So, the next day, after much agonising, i rang my boss and told him i cant do it anymore. It wasnt so much the working from home, it was the fact that my boss was just abit dithery, changed his mind alot, forgot things, and generally in a round about way blamed me. He is a lovely old man thou, so, i told him that i wasnt able to give him 100% as well as Aiden 100% and that it was effecting my ability to work for him, and i was letting him down. Sorta suger coated it for him. And, i felt so so much better. Will probably still do abit for him, more bookwork type, but, i wont be tied to the house everyday now, and will be able to get out and see my friends again.
Have also looked at what i eat, and trying to be more healthy to make sure i get all my essential vitamins.

Oh, and AF has returned. Happy - now we can start ttc#2 ... and now I remember what contractions felt like, and i dont want AF any more. Very heavy, and getting alot of pain in my hips and thighs. (sorry tmi).

Anyway, Aiden is awake, must go. Will BBL, i notice alot of you have updated your photos, so, cant wait to check them out
