Teepee2 - oh my goodness you have such a clever little girl!! And still oh so adorably cute! DD#2 does push her bot into the air, but she is still my little caterpillar! :p I was thinking just this morning as I searched her gums for teeth, holding my breath hoping not to find any...........:p I really want her to not grow up so fast!!! My baby is disappearing so fast now that if I can keep my gummy bear caterpillar for a little longer I will be so happy! Hehehe!

Hi all, just a few minutes for a quick hello.

Eliza - lovely story, thank you for sharing that with us, you must have been so happy and excited (and your friend too).

Well, no teeth yet, but his gums feel firmer and sharper if that makes sense. He's enjoying chomping on things like an old mobile phone, and the tv remote! We had visitors last week, and he loved their company, such a good boy. They all think he's lovely and so laid back (yay), I think my SIL is a bit more interested in babies now! Our belly dancing group performed for the nursing home residents, it was great fun. We did our dance twice as we forgot a bit in it the first time and burst out laughing. But we got it right the next time. It was lovely to see some of the less able residents curled up in the chairs, eyes closed but hands tapping in time to the music. And the faces on some of the others, pure enjoyment. Who would have thought that 6 ladies wiggling and giggling would be so much fun for others??? They've asked us back again too!!!

Have nearly finished the Christmas shop, and managed to successfully acquire a swimsuit, well sort of. I will have to wear the bikini bottoms I already have, but I bought a tankini top from K Mart in a black white and silver pattern for the top half. I liked it a lot as it has adjustable straps, and also small removal pads in the bra cups - will serve nicely as breast pads while on the beach and by the pool!!! It does flash a bit of flesh however, mind you this should distract nicely from any stomach flashing.

Also, I'm a bit nervous - tomorrow I'm going to pop in to my old work (Christmas party) for the first time since I had Angus. It's 110km from home you see, so that's why we haven't been before, too hard with only one car and that in use by the breadwinner every day. I kind of want them to miss me, but also I don't want them to miss me in case I don't come back! Also, I want them to think I look good. Superficial I know, but before I got pregnant I was very small with a very flat stomach, so I know everyone will be looking to see if I have that back or not.

Feathertop - Good luck with your work visit. I'm sure they'll think you look great especially with all that belly dancing. I went swimming costume shopping yesterday, bad move:doh:!
I'm beginning to think I will never lose my tummy. I yo-yo between 62 and 61 kg every week, no matter what I eat I just go up and down. I'm beginning to think it maybe a fluid thing. My pre pregnancy weight was 58kg but I just can't get back down there!

Lewis wouldn't drink his dreamfeed last night and then woke up coughing. It's his 2nd cough in a month. I can see how they catch colds easily but I'm a bit worried that he coughs. He sounds really mucusy. Saying that, he's not constantly coughing. And he did drink most of his milk just now so hopefully it's not too bad.

I took him to be weighed and he is 8.3kg. But he has only put on 100g per week in the last 3 weeks so she said I must start him on solids as his weight gain is starting to slow. (Even though he is a kilo over the average weight for his age!!)
So I gave him rice cereal for 2 days and today he has had a bit of sweet potato. I just loved his 'Err what are you doing' look he gave me when I put the food in his mouth. He seems to quite enjoy it though.

Anyway must go, MIL is coming to babysit for 2 hours while I go and do a market research interview. They will pay me $60 for a 30 min interview. Not bad hey!

Starfish - i am glad to hear that diana enjoyed the pool better. Ashley went in the pool for the first time last friday and all was ok until the swimmin teacher poured water over her head and she screamed for 1/2 hr! i have taken her back in the pool every 2nd day since and she is a lot more relaxed now. except she doent like being splashed! lol.

Now that she is sitting it is easier too as i can sit with her in the baby pool down at the lagoon at thebeach and she can splash to get used to it herself.

As for solids.
Ashey has been on solids since 4 month and 3 weeks. and she has had a wide variety - it is hard i know because people tell you one thing and then frown on you etc etc.

She still has 4-5 feeds a day BF and is now starting to have 3 meals a day (about 3-4 teaspoons in each). She loves her solids... i mean today at lunch i was feeding her banana and avocado mash and i lent over the tablet o get some chicken for me and my crossiant went ZIP straight in her mouth. she grabbed and and started chewing it!

TO date she has had:
banana, apppe, cherry, watermelon, pear, avocado, farex, carrot, mushrooms, pumpkin, potato, zuchinni, cawliflower,brocoli, peas, corn.
and loves it all!

Mum of lewis - firstly how did you get into the market research???

Ashley has been refusing her dream feed the last few nights too ... i try and she just doesnt want it and she is sleeping a solid 12 hours without a sound over night so she mustnt be hungry.

As for weight gain. I took her to get her 6 month shots and he was 6.76kg. She has only put on 500gm in 2 months, so it is a very slow weight gain for her too, so i wouldnt be too worried about Lewis weight as the doctors arent worried about ashleys????

Hi girls!!! We're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

We had such a lovely holiday in NSW and VIC. We were right on the border, so we went between each state daily. Caeleb had his first swim in a pool at a hotel we stayed at. Wasn't too sure at first, but then he loved it. I've got some photos I'll upload onto his site once he goes down for a nap.

He's on 3 meals of solids a day. He has rice cereal in the mornings, usually with a couple teaspoons of fruit puree in for taste. He has either baby yoghurt or pureed fruit for lunch. And he has pureed vegetables for dinner. He'll eat about 120 grams each feed, which is about the same amount that's in a small jar of baby food. I'm not giving him any baby custard or the likes... try it for yourself, it's FULL of sugar!!! I gave it to him once (he loved it), then I tried it myself. OMG!!! So, it's off the menu. I'm offering him water, which he accepts quite happily and he has booby inbetween meals.

I need to go get him weighed. I want to turn his carseat around, but I'm not sure if he's heavy enough. I haven't taken him to Child & Youth in ages. I put him on our bathroom scales and he's around 8 kilos.

Princess Mya - The market research, I registered online with a number of them and then they email you questionnaires to fill in and if you qualify they ring you. I'm not sure if the ones I'm with are just in NSW but try stable research and McNair Ingenuity. Oh and Mango research. Or Google market research companies. Today was so easy, I had to watch some commercials and say what I thought of them. I got $60 cash and was in there for 20 mins!

I think I'm going to miss Lewis's dreamfeed tonight to see what happens. Maybe he doesn't need it anymore either. What bliss that would be, I'll be in bed by 9pm every night!!

Celsie - Welcome back! Glad you had a nice time. Regarding the car seat thing, I have been using a capsule and was waiting so that when I put his car seat in instead, it could go in forward facing straightaway. However DH took it on Monday and the guy said he really didn't recommend going forward facing until 9-12 months. He said in the UK and other countries they recommend 12 months so they are really strong with their necks. I was really looking forward to him facing forward but have decided to go as long as poss now with him facing backwards.

Anyway must go, I have some spray tans to do. I do mobile spray tanning in the evenings! It's getting busy for Xmas.

MumofLewis - Spray tanning, wow! Oh goodness!! I'm so white all I'd have to do would be roll up my jeans legs in the bush and everyone would have a walking night light!!! ROFL!!!

Well looks like DD will be starting her baby cereal this week as she has progressed from simply showing interest to actually behaving almost frustrated when she watched me eat my lunch and I didn't give her any! :lol: She tracked the food and drink from the table to my mouth and then watched me chew and she'd frown and screw her face up and throw her arms and legs (she was in her little bouncer chair next to me) and nattered away to me in an almost annoyed tone!! LOL!!!

Also, I think the teething has begun :( Little apple rosy cheeks, not masses of drool but also botty rash - this was a concrete sign with DD#1 that she was teething (wee gets more acidic during teething we were told, hence increased nappy rash potential) and yesterday and today she has simply been 'off' iykwim. Just not her happy bubbly cheeky self, very clingy. So guess we'll see - but can't see or feel anything in the gums so who knows. She doesn't have a temp though so she's not sick...............oh, so don't want to lose my gummy bear yet :p DD#1 got her first tooth at 6&1/2 months so really only 2 weeks away for DD#2..........................

Charly - Diana is displaying the same symptoms as your DD, i.e. nappy rash, clingy, sooky and generally off. But I haven't felt anything in her gums... Maybe its a growth spurt?

Diana had her photo done with Santa last Friday. She didn't cry, but didn't seem overjoyed either. Seems almost like she was complying for our sake.

Anyway, better get off as I have lots of things to do today. Busy busy. Hope you all have a great day.

OMG how scary - I was just about to post that Jackson has had some similar symptoms but he has also gone from sleeping 10-6 to waking every 2 hours at night as well- so i'm hoping its a growth spurt cos I feel like a walking zombie right now

welcome back Celsie glad you had a good break - we had Jackson in a friends pool on the weekend and he ended up with a rash cos their pool was really strongly chlorinated- not surprising cos I react to strong chlorine as well

Jackson is having 2-3 teaspoons of banana in the morning and about 1.5 tbsp of kumara (sweet potato) at night and he loves it all - going to try some other food when we get back from NZ

Just wanted to know if any of your bubs can sit up on their own yet? Caeleb can!!! He can't crawl, but he can sit up on his own?!? LOL I guess they just do different things at different times. He does faceplant from time to time, but mostly he's fine. :)

Just went to an ABA meeting about Infant led weening. Basically it's about giving babies whole soft pieces of food when they're able to chew (about 6 months) and not spoon feeding. Very interesting. Will give it a go and let you know how we go!

Our EC (nappy free) training is going so well! We had poos on our potty for the 2nd time this week. We get wees 8/10 times, so I'm really proud of him! :D

Hi there everybody, i am wondering if anybody is having trouble getting their babies to sleep??
Ashlyn was really good early on but then started to refuse to sleep at around 4 weeks...she actually caught a cold from Rylan so i think this may have thrown her out of whack. So basically from then until now it has been hit and miss some days she will sleep 10 mins others she will sleep 3 hours.
The worst thing is the fact that she is really hard to settle at night, i will get her sorted for bed and give her a bottle and sometime she will fall asleep no worries and stay dead to the world for 15-20mins but as soon as i put her down in her cot she is wide awake!!:doh:
I can sit on the lounge with tv on, Rylan running around yelling, get up walk into her cot, i pretty much lay in the cot to make sure she is laying flat as not to disturb her but as soon as she hits that mattress she is wide awake kicking and cooing:wall:
Other time she will be so tired that she fights every attempt to settle her, she will kick and scream and arch her back, throw herself around and if i sit down to rock her she will lose it 10x worse until i stand and rock her and that doesnt always neccesarily work.
I have tried putting her down while she is not quite asleep, i have tried i guess its controlled crying(in my book its actually ignoring her:lol:) hoping she will put herself to sleep but she will just scream and now she is rolling she jams herself into the corner of her cot face down, which scares the crap out of me!!! I have tried giving her a nice warm bath with the bedtime stuff and it works sometimes not all.
It is just really getting frustrating every night i seem to be getting so cranky with everyone because she just wont settle and its not fair on them and i dont want to feel like that.

:hugs: Rylansmum! The only thing I can suggest may or may not be something that you are comfy with so this is just a thought - it might be a retraining issue. if you have covered all the other basis: eg wind, dirty nappy, full tummy, not too hot/cold, no temp etc, teething? Growth spurt? If you have eliminated these (although the last could be tricky - hindsight can sometimes be the only revealing moment :rolleyes:) then it might come down to you deciding when it is nap time and when nap time is over. During the nap, for a little while you may have to go in every 10mins or so to do a quick retuck, pat and settle and then walk out.

Btw, DD#2 also rolls all over the place - we heard her kicking the wall the other night! :p So we put her in a light gro bag or wrap her tight in a cot sheet - sometimes just her legs, sometimes arms and legs as the air con can make her too cool. She is houdini but eventually she tires of fighting the sheet and falls asleep :p

DD#2 is certainly far more alert and cheeky than DD#1! I put her to bed when she is awake and if I do go in to resettle I hardly make eye contact (I'd probably smile coz she's so cheeky cute - which will then get her all excited again! :p) and I don't say anything - I just get in and get out in a calm, quiet manner. Its the consistency of the process that bubby will eventually pick up on and it could take a week or so for your little one to catch on. If its something that you are happy to try and you are happy to see a week or two, maybe 3 go by before bubby is sleeping well again, it could be worth it.

Most importantly, it is what you are comfortable doing - this is what DH & I have done with both our girls.........and still have to even with DD#1 as she is really using her mind and thinking and realising that she can be independent so, "oh wow. I don't have to go to sleep right now if I don't want to!" So wrong :D but we have to work with her on that one :rolleyes:

Guess who's cut both his front teeth overnight! No wonder he was soooo grumpy yesterday, I nearly put him on ebay, free to a good home :lol:
He had his injections so I thought maybe that was it, but now I know.

Celsie - No Lewis can't sit on his own, probably because whenever he catches sight of his own toes, he dive bombs straight for them and ends up folded in half!

RylansMum - Since about 4 months, Lewis doesn't go to sleep straigtaway at night. However because he doesn't cry I just leave him in the cot and check on him. To be honest I have stopped his dummy and think that is why it takes him longer to fall asleep. But I have tried making his bedtime a little later and don't let him sleep too late in the afternoon. The rolling makes things worse because he wakes himself up everytime he goes onto his tummy. i can't wait for him to learn to roll back. But it is scary seeing them on their tummy in the cot isn't it.
I'm not sure what to suggest apart form Charly's suggestion of some form of controlled crying whether it is every 30 seconds or longer whichever you are comfortable with.

Lewis is loving is food, his mouth is wide open at the sight of the spoon! However, he gets a big orange moustache when I give him carrot, so I may stop that for a while! Oh and great news, I haven't dreamfed him for 4 nights and he hasn't woken up so hopefully that is the end of those!

Anyway must go and do my Florence Nightingale routine, DH is in bed with flu.

And yes those toes - they are like the south end of a magnet and their mouths are like the north end; they spy each other and wham!!! Straight together! :lol:

DD had her 6 month immunisations yesterday - didn't cry for the first one just looked at her daddy with the expression, "excuse me?!?!?!" But then with the second one, awww poor love! It really was an ouchy cry but then so cutely followed by a grumpy, telling off style, "ya-ya-ya!" Teehee!! Within a minute after she was all smiles again - yay!! This is actually the best she has been after an immunisation as she hasn't needed panadol once and has seemed her normal self, yay again!:dance: Funny thing tho, in the waiting room after she was getting hungry as it was almost feed time but I wanted to get home first. (the surgery likes children to wait around for 10-15mins after an immunisation just in case of reactions) She was sitting on my lap and turned towards me, put her hand out to my booby and then pulled herself right at it with a big open mouth!!!!! Hahaha! We left after that :D

No teeth yet but have everything on hand - including rusks. And bought her first baby cereal today in preparation to start next week (busy weekend). I have given her her spoon to play with a couple of times - just got to watch her as she tends to try and scoop out her tonsils with it! :lol: It was lovely as I sat her in the high chair for the first time tonight at dinner time - our first family of four moment at the dinner table - so sweet! DD#1 loved it as she was able to see her little sister and have a chat with her and DD#2 loved it as she adores her big sister!(the high chair passed the taste test as well, hehe!) I think she really enjoyed the socialising too as we usually have her in the bouncer on the floor next to us but she still seems a bit far away iykwim, so being much closer to the action was great.

Had our last Mother's Group for the year. It was at a Play Cafe. The sign on the door said "Under 1.... Free". The guy charged me $1.50!!! He said, that since Caeleb was going to play in the baby section (mats on the floor with a slide he can't even access as he needs to be able to climb up several chambers to get to it). What a joke!!! Caeleb can't even crawl... bloody idiot!!! :angry:

well we leave for our trip home to NZ for Christmas today - I'm a bit nervous about the flight but its only 3 hours so i'm sure we'll be fine - but to top it off Jackson has got a snotty cold today as well

Hi everyone

Diana had her 6 month needles today (she will be 6 months on Wednesday, but for some reason the dr wanted us to come in today specifically). Diana cried a bit, but got over it very quickly, my brave girl. I am so proud of her. She got weighed and measured too (6.7kg, 67cm), and was generally a good girl for the rest of the day.

On Saturday, my sister, Diana and I went to Glebe markets. I got Diana a cute tie dyed singlet (only to have DH comment when he saw it that it looked like a gay prde top , oh well, never mind, I like it ). We then had lunch at the food hall in Broadway shopping centre, where Diana sat in a high chair for the first time. She was a bit small for it, but I think she liked being up at table level. (And it enabled me to eat lunch in peace for once). Last night we went to dinner at my sister's place, and Diana got to sit at the table (in a normal chair, propped up by pillows). She even ate a little bit of potatoe. My little girl is growing up.

Starfish - the poor little bub! Ashley had her last week - although it is one less this month )needles) it still breaks your heart to see them cry doesnt it!

Feathertop- how are the teeth going? I think ashley is aboutt o cut her 2 bottom teeth soon, I can see them - the gum is almost white in 2 spots and can feel them but they are not through yet, how long does it take from this point???

It sounds like Ashley is very close to cutting her teeth, I didn't really feel anything until the day before but still didn't realise how close it was.

To all those going away for Xmas, have a great trip. We are having a quiet one at home, just can't wait for Lewis to have his jolly jumper, his little legs are bouncing already!

NO havent been temping so i have no idea... i know that i have been hotter though as i need the aircon on at night and Dh is shivering under the sheets (usually it is the opposite).lol

Diana is six months old today! I remember when she was born, it seemed like such a long time until she turned six months, and now here were are. :)

Oh goodness! Reading about everyone starting to head off for their chrissy hols really shows how fast this year - particularly our babies first 6months have gone! Crazy huh?????

I can see two white lines under DD's bottom gums but I can't feel them! All her teething symptoms have disappeared (red cheeks, red bot) so maybe it was more a growth spurt than anything else.

Tried first taste of baby cereal the other morning :lol: She was so excited and waving her arms everywhere with a massive smile on her face as the spoon came towards her BUT!! As soon as she got her first taste her face truly went inside out and all screwed up!! :lol: Then she'd gag :rolleyes: So might try again tomorrow.

Out to dinner tonight :dance: so really should go get ready as I have to feed before we go as I am not a very graceful public feeder and the best the place could offer me was the loos......um, hows no sound?? Thankfully DD is sleeping really well atm so hopefully she will be a very happy chappy at the restaurant and not squeal the place down as she tends to do when she is tired :p

OMG!!! I have to tell you this!!!!!! Had the huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugest hunstmen spider in my house this morning and DH was at work!!!!!!!!!!!! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!! It was MASSIVE!! (picked up that I hate spiders???hahaha!) So both my DD's were wondering why mummy was acting like a mad women and dancing this funny dance and singing this song that only had funny sounds in it like "ewwwwwwwwwww, eeeeeeeeeeeeek! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!! Blehhhhhhh!! Yayayayayaya!!!" :cryinglaugh:

Eventually I managed to almost drown it in spray - whilst on the phone to DH who suggested I stepped on it!! WHAAAAT?!?!?!? Seriously!! It was that big it would've thrown me off!!! ROFL!!!

So I conquered in the end, lol, and then had to go and wipe over everything that got sprayed in the process, twit! Poor DD#2 was so famished as it went past her normal feed time as I couldn't leave until I was certain the horrid spider was well and truly dead as I was paranoid it would crawl and surprise me else where if I let it out of my sight ................ yes coz they are very smart!! :cryinglaugh: I need therapy I know.................................

Its been fun as we have been allowing the girls to open their gifts from others as they get them - saves DD#1 getting bored with opening a billion gifts and not having time to play with them as we trundle off to lunch. (not to mention mummy and daddy are then not overwhelmed with double the amount of gifts all in one hit this year having another child an' all that! ;) )

Jackson was hugely spoiled by his NZ grandparents and his uncle and aunties - i'm still a bit overwhelmed to be honest
I think its been a bit much for him too as he slept very well at lunchtime - his tooth hasn't come through yet but its certainly causing him some grief and a lot of dribble

HI everyone, firstly, Merry chrissy everyone, I hope you all had a great day, i no it was very special to us, being the first chrissy with a bubba.
I have been on here for a little while, but had never come to this thread, so I am six months late! :doh: It has been great reading thru everyones posts and understanding what we all are going thru!!
A little about us, my DS is our first, we had a wonderful birth, mostly a water birth until right at the end, he was getting a little too relaxed! He was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen when I first laid eyes on him ( as I'm sure you all no the feeling! :D)He came in to the world weighing 5lb 6oz, our tiny bundle! We have had a pretty cruisy time, he is a BF boy, he is a cat napper thru the day, but used to sleep thru the nite until a a month or so ago, when he started drooling alot, and his sleep changed dramatically! He was waking every 2 hours, it was a nightmare! I think it was a combination of teething and perhaps a growth spurt.
He has had a really big month this month, he has quite a nasty cold, i woke up the other morning panicking after I heard him breath, or I really should say try to breath as he was breathing really short and shallow and sounded TERRIBLE!so I took him straight down the docs and they said he may have asthma...I am not too sure I agree with that, I think he has cold and cant clear the flem off his chest sorta thing, but will keep it in mind. He cut both his front bottom teeth at the same time! He is crawling properly as of 22 Dec, instead of the "comando crawl", he sits up by himself and has no problems pulling himself up to stand on the coffee table AND shimmy along the coffee table (if ya no what I mean!),pull himself up on windows, walls, anything, you name it, he will climb it. A right little monkey!
He has been eating solids for a month and a half, ( i was told to as his weight was quite low) and he loves em! He has had everything in the fruit and vege range! Farex, custards, baby yoghurt etc. It is like I have a new puppy when ever I eat now, complete with drool! He just watches every mouthful with his little mouth mimicking eating, so so cute!
Well anyway, just thought I would do a brief (not so brief i no!) introduction that has caught us up to the present,congrats (belatedly) on your babies, and cheers to all us lucky ladies that can call ourselves mums! :dance:

Hi, the reason I was on here tonite of all nites was to look for some info cos I am having some problems now with his newly acquired teeth and him biting me! Pre-teeth, he used to kinda clamp his gums down on my nipple, then turn his head at something and take my nipple and extend it! it hurt but wasnt too bad, but now he does that with his teeth and it REALLY hurts, he also just kinda starts playing and then he will bite me and then SMILE! It is getting to the point where I am nervous putting him back on cos I no he will bite me. It happens nearly every feed and my boobs are soooo sore!! I can nearly tell now when he is going to do it and basically try stick my finger in his mouth before he can bite me! Does anyone no what I can do for this cos I dont want to stop BF but I dont no how long I can handle his sharp razors on my sensitive nipples!

Welcome Miss Banana! - Sounds like you have a real active little one there, what is his date of birth and name?

It's pretty quiet in here, everyone must be still stuffed from all the turkey and Xmas pud! I know I am. The diet's off this week for sure!

Lewis had a lovely xmas and was really spoilt, luckily it was mainly all clothes which were all lovely. He's not too sure about his jolly jumper yet, he just sits in it and has a good nose around the place, but no bouncing yet!
He loves being on his tummy now and lifts himself up on his arms. He is dying to crawl, he's always kicking his legs ans ends up in all sorts of positions, but hasn't worked out he needs to lift his bum up yet. :doh:

I'm going back to work 2 days a week on Jan 2nd and it's constantly on my mind. I burst into tears tonight because I'm getting so anxious about leaving Lewis. I know it will be fine and hopefully DH can work his shifts so that he will be home most of the time I'm at work, but I just dread leaving him. The most I've ever left him with my MIL is for about 3 hours. Anyway I'm trying to keep positive.

Anyway must go, our bl**dy vacuum blew up today so we are off to the sales tomorrow to buy a new one.. And I'm going to go to Spotlight too to get some linen for Lewis's christening outfit that MIL is making.

Dane is my boys name and he was born on 11 June. We had him in a jolly jumper when he was about 3months as he used to do the motions all the time standing on my lap. He loves it. It was very funny the other day I was putting him in it and trying to attach it all together on the spring & I needed to readjust the way I was holding him and I went to put him on the ground and he did his little jump he does when he is in it, but I hadnt clipped him in! So he no's what its all about and gets very excited when he sees me getting it ready. I'm sure lewis will love it, I would love it if I could use one!! :lol:

MumofLewis, I am sure Lewis will be fine, I think that it is way harder on us leaving them, then what is for them when you leave. make sense? But I would be upset too, and I no I miss him when he is not around me. Even when I have had inlaws visiting, I was missing him cos they just had hold of him all the time, I really missed him and really looked forward to feeding cos I new it would be our alone time! I hope it all goes well for you and you can relax a little, hard I am sure! but let us no how u cope and how Lewis copes too.

So both my DD's are teething!!! DD#1 is cutting a back molar, woopee and DD#2 is now on the way to breaking tooth #2 through, double woopee!! LOL!!

And don't know about everyone else but I so feel like I now own a Toys'r'Us store!!! LOL!!! Can't work out whos having more fun, DH & I or the girls!!

Ok, have to dash, DD#2 sounds like she is stuck in her cot - again!! :rolleyes:

Hey everyone! Just a very quick hello! We are still on holidays at the inlaws and I havent had time to sit down and read through the thread .. just thought I'd pop in and wish everyone a Happy Christmas and New Year! We won't be home for another 2 weeks so hopefully I can get some time to get on the computer and catch up with everyone! I am posting in the solids sections a question about pureed potato and veges .. do you guys add milk or formula? I cant add breast milk I just dont have enough .. but if you add formula .. can you freeze it? Not sure what to do .. !

Hey Jen! Hope you're having a fab break!

With DD#1 the only thing I ever added bm to was the farex but then I'd introduce vegies and fruit 'straight up' as it were. If the food needed thinning, I'd just add boiled water. DH & I would make up a massive batch of food and then freeze it all in ice cube trays. Once frozen we had a container for every veg/fruit that had been frozen so I could get my trays back and make a new batch when the time came.
I'm not sure about freezing formula but I would think that if you can freeze bm anyways on its own, it should be perfectly fine to freeze with vegies...??

Just a thought, as you said you aren't getting alot of bm, maybe you could freeze the bm separately in an ice cube tray - a normal sized one or one that makes smaller cubes and then pop them as you need them?? That way, there's no pressure on you to get a whole heap of bm out in one sitting....you can express slowly and gradually coz it keeps for a couple of months...................just thinking :)....hth in some way. xx

Missbanana - read your thread re: your little one biting and am glad you posted it coz I think I'm going to need a few of those suggestions! :D I hope that some of the advice helps you lovey!

Think we have to get a playpen so I can leave the room to go to the loo :rolleyes: DD#2 is so mobile now! She isn't crawling - hasn't worked out how to push her arms up when her bot is in the air but is fine with lifting her torso when her legs are flat if that makes sense. But oi-yoi-yoi!! Can she roll and tumble!!! We have a rug a couple of metres wide and in 5 minutes she can twist and roll from one side to the other onto the tiles! Eeek!! Little rabbit!

P.S. Just a quick question for you all if you don't mind me asking, how much do your little ones sleep during the day? DD#2 is no where near the sleepy baby that DD#1 was so guess am trying to determine what amount of sleep is best for a 6month old........TIA sweets! xx

Hi Girls,

Charly - Lewis sleeps for about 30-60 mins in the morning about 11am and the same in the afternoon about 3.30pm. He then sleeps from about 7.30pm til 5am and usually goes back for an hour about 7.30am.
He is the same with his moving about. He has only just learnt to roll back over onto his back, so now he is roly-polying all over the place! I'm not using his play gym anymore because he never stays on it anyway and gets tangled up in it when he rolls. He doesn't really like being on his back anymore unless he is eating his toes or talking to the ceiling lights!
He looks so proud of himself when he gets onto his tummy and pulls himself up on his arms. He looks around to make sure I'm watching then gives me a big grin!

Jen - I puree the veg and freeze it and then when it's defrosted add a bit of formula or boiled water if needed.

I can see his top tooth now, not sure how long til it comes through but he is desperate to bite on anything going so I don't think it will be long.

He seems to be a bit more bouncy in his jolly jumper. Do you put them in it with their feet flat on the ground or on tip toes?

Mumoflewis - on tippy toes so they can't rest their whole weight on their legs as their little legs aren't ready for that much weight for a sustained time, if that makes sense. On tippy toes allows them to bounce but then have a relax when they're ready with no strain on their muscles :) hth

Oh and your little man sounds like he's a real character making sure you're watching!! How cute!
