Very cute Megan. You did well to get a photo of him smiling!
Debbie - Aiden's weight seems fine. Lewis was 4.08 at birth, then down to 3.70 5 days later, then up to 4.1 at 2 weeks. They like them to have regained their birth weight by 14 days so I wouldn't worry.
I'm having a paranoia attack today because I just can't seem to settle Lewis. I feel like it's me not him because DH seems to be able to settle him okay and yesterday we went to his grandmothers and she settled him in about 5 minutes after I had tried for ages. I try everything, look for his tired signs, then wrap him, cuddle him until he's calm and then put him in his bassinette. He then just unsettles again. Or he will be fine if his dummy is in but cries every time it comes out and then I spend the next hour putting it back in again. It gets so tiring, this morning it took him about 2 hours to settle, by which time he was hungry again. And the same now. He dropped off at 5.30pm but then woke again and now won't go back down.
I don't now what I'm doing wrong. I feel like he senses my impatience and anxiety. Does anyone else have trouble settling? It's usually not as bad during the nigth because he seems more tired.
P.S great photos Megan, he's a cutie!
The smiling one was a fluke i didnt even realise it until i printed the photo.....
And thanks yeah i think hes pretty special.. :)
Meegm - Lee is absolutely gorgeous!!! I'm so proud of us June girls. All our babies are so good looking. We're so clever!
I've added the rest of Caeleb's photos from his shoot onto my myspace webpage:
http://www.myspace.com/truthsandtales
Will try to add them to the babies online site too.
Sarah - I sometimes have the same problem with Caeleb. I think it's because he sees me as "booby milk machine". LOL - I think he can smell it or something, because he doesn't do it for anyone else. Good luck sweetie.
Celsie. xoxox
Sarah, Celsie is right.
Lewis can smell your milk, thats why you can have problems settling him. When Aiden is really upset, i give him to Darren to settle, and he does it no problems. It hurts me, cause it makes me feel like i cant do it, but, its not my fault, or your fault. And they can sense when we get upset, so, try to take a deep breath, and smile and talk happy to him, and at all times, remind yourself that you are a good mum.
I guess its just that they get upset, but, are to little to realise why they are upset, and when they smell the milk, they just assume that they are hungry, and go for it. I also think, that, perhaps, then what happens is that they get a to full a stomach and that makes them more upset.
Celsie - also agree - we are a clever bunch arnt we
I have been trying to work out for days how to put photos up but still cant. Can someone pls tell me how I do it:rolleyes: Thanks

Everyones Bubbas are adorable!
Well in regards to putting bubbas to sleep Danielle78 do what works best for you i can not believe people are telling you that is a bad habit, my gosh some people should keep there mouths shut! angry for you. Don't listen to any of these people as you are the best judge of mackenzie and it is mothers instinct of what your baby likes and dislikes!
Everyone else seems to be going great guns!
In regards to me and Shayla all well at our end. I am taking Shayla to the doc today as she seems to be a bit clogged up in the nasal area and last night she had a bit of a cough and you could here her all clogged up. I hope all is ok with her. I put some Euky bear rub on her clothes and raised her cotmattress as well, seemed to work a little but better to have her checked over and all of that. Her big sister has a runny nose as well so she probably caught it off her!
She has been doing explosive poos too and so runny! then this morning she did one and it was a little bit firmer so i don't know. She is having breast milk and Karicare gold with infacol drops! Maybe this is the problem??? Anyone else have this problem.
On another note as well she is mainly breast fed but i thought breast milk was suppose to make your bubbas not catch colds etc etc!!! Maybe this is all an old wives tale? Any thoughts on this.......
Anyway better be off to get ready and organise the kids for the doc. Will BBL to give an update of the outcome.
Jen :D
Hi everyone
Megan, Jen and Celsie - love all your photos. Very cute. I will post some updated photos on my site in the next few days.
Jen - sorry to hear that Shayla has a cold. I'm not sure if breastfeeding is meant to prevent bub catching a cold. Maybe it helps them get over it quicker? Diana is exclusively breastfed, but a few weeks ago she had a bit of a sniffle too. Still, she didn't seem overly distressed by it and got over it within a few days. Hope Shayla does too.
Have any of you heard of infant potty training? You can google it to read about it, but basically it involves communicating with your baby and looking out for signals they give you about when they need to poo and wee. When you see the signal, you take the baby's nappy off and hold them over a potty and let them do their business... I have decided to try it with Diana. We started today and already three times I changed her nappy to find it dry, held her over a potty and let her wee (the fourth time she ended up weeing on the changing mat, still three out of four is not bad). I will keep you posted on how we go.
Hi :grouphug::grouphug:
Sorry bout that will start again
Hi to all the wonderful mums and the beautiful bubs
Hope you are all doing well and getting some sleep. Well Im doing ok its good to know that Im not the only one with a bub that doesnt sleep much during the day I was talking to a mid wife the other day and she said that bubs that stay awake are goin to be smart as they are taking lots of stuff in dont know how true it all is. I love how keyonte is a lil mum she has been really great with imogen some of the my friends told me i would have lots of trouble with her but she has been really good she knows that imogen needs mummy and she is always there to help me when she needs her nappy changed. I really would have liked to have b/f immy but not matter how much water i had i could only ever get 20 mls so it was best to put her on the bottle she was really easy to b/f keyonte didnt even want the boob when she was born and i was a lil sad that i had to stop but i know that i shouldnt be sad about it, immy is putting on weight now and looking good. Immy is 6 weeks old today it has gone so fast.Well i hope to chat to you all again very soon take care of your beautiful bubs and yourself:grouphug:
CRADLE CAP - are any of your bootiful little bubs getting it - Lee is getting it mildly on his inner corner of his eyebrows... some of the girls have suggested bethapen cream ...
i was told baby oil
is that the dry skin look? I have used both bethapen cream, and baby oil. Both work well. I think the bethapen cream works abit faster thou.
We have had some rough days here. Unfortunatly. Does anyone else notice a change in their bubs after they have been out with him?
Aiden was a right little terror last night. Was unsettled from about 3ish till midnight. At first, put it down to being over tired, as he didnt sleep much the day before. So, we tried to put him down, and he wanted to so bad, but, he just wouldnt sleep. Wouldnt feed properly, and then about 7.30, started screaming. Not constant, but, like every 10mins do a big loud scream, for maybe a minute, till we settled him, and then he would be sorta ok. But, we pretty much held him from 6.30 till midnight. He was in alot of pain. Bad wind i guess. I dont know if you call it colic, if its a once off like that? or is it when it happens consistantly, you call it colic. But, displaying all the symptoms anyway. So, we where giving him 20ml warm water, with infants formula. Gave him about 3 doses between 5 and midnight, then i gave him more at 3.30, and more at 7am. I hope you cant overdose the stuff. He seems to be fine now, did a huge massive smelly #2, and settled pretty much after. Took a while to go to sleep, and is not sleeping soundly, but, still, is content again.
My mum says when they go out, they gulp the air, cause its different for them, and that can give them wind.
He was also chucking after every feed, lasted a couple days. So, yesterday, i expressed from my right side, and gave him formula instead. I expressed 140ml in 10min. According to Alan (i think) they can suck bb faster then i can express bb, so, if can get that much out in 10min, imagine what he can do??? What i used to do, was he would feed for a solid near 10min, and then stuff around for about the next 10 -15min. I reckon 2 things where happening. 1, he getting to much milk, & 2, was starting to not latch properly, and suck air. The combined effect making him windy, and spewy.
So now, i feed for 10min, burp him, offer again, if he stuffs around, then, chuck dummy in mouth, and move on. And no spews since.
Had started to think i had a baby with reflux and colic...
Starfish - i have read about the toilet training thing - will be interested to hear how you go.
Jen, i was also told that AIden wouldnt catch my cold while i am b/f him, and he didnt. (touchwood). He is mostly bf, and the occasional, once a day, every second day, has karicare gold. His poo's are runny, sorta like tomatoe sauce consistancy, but abit runnier? And a really orange colour.
140ml in 10 mins - Debbie I am so jealous! I can express a whopping 30 mls in half an hour!!! Is that because I've never breastfed or I just don't have much milk do you think?
Who knows why Aiden was unsettled, I'm sure we'll all have plenty of days like that in the next few months....I must say though when reading your post you seem to be handling it really well and sound like you know what to do. It just goes to show we are all gaining confidence every day and getting to know our bubs.
Lewis has slept quite alot today, hope I'm not in for a sleepless night!! I took him for a walk at the beach, maybe the sea air has knocked him out!
Debbie - You poor thing. You must be so tired. :hugs: Orange poo??? Is that from the formula you use? Caeleb's is almost the same colour and consistancy as mustard. What about everyone else? Strange question I know...
Caeleb has one bottle of formula a day. Usually the night feed that Tate does. Mum bought me a tin of S26 Gold, which has been great, but it's made by Weyth and both Weyth and Nestle are involved in decieving Mums in poor countries, making them believe that formula is better than breast milk for their babies... making them buy it when they clearly can't afford it. So, I thought I'd try Heinz Nurture Gold. Is anyone else using it?!?
Celsie. xoxox
Celsie - I didn't now that about Wyeth and Nestle, do you know if Karicare Gold is the same, it is made by Nutricia? I did try S26 gold but it made him constipated which I had read on a BB thread somewhere aswell.
Regarding poo colour, Lewis's is also a lovely mustard shade, although it sometimes leans towards being a bit green too!
