hi all! Ive been a bit MIA in here havent I sorry! glad to hear of the weight gain for Kodi!! I want to get susie weighed again, might just do it next time sges naked on the home scales lol!she was very fussy wed and thurs, but todays been a bit better. she hadnt done a decent bowelk movement since mon! but she had a normal one today...still waiting for the poohspolion built up from the last 4 days lol!
got our electricity bill today ouch! itas pretty much been on 17 or hire for over 3 months! time to start lowering it a lil bit i think now Susie is getting older!

Not much happening here, Kodi goes for her 4 month needles tomorrow & i'll get her head checked out while i'm there.
I'm trying not to worry about it, but a little bit of me can't help it.

All good here. We have our 4 month needles this week too!
DF is working 2pm to 10pm... not very excited about that haha. Um what else.. we swapped the bassinet over to the stroller and Immy LOVES it, absolutely adores it. We went for a walk to PrincessXanthe's and she couldn't have been happier so lots more walks on the cards for us.
Hope Kodi goes alright with her needles and head check xo

Yeah, that sounds good! I honestly cannot believe how much she enjoyed it. I was worried because I had put my carrier through the wash so it was pram or having to lug her the 15mins each way... which I wasn't keen to do haha but she was happy the entire time, both ways! I really should have swapped it over sooner, my little bub is growing too quick!

Kodi's needles went well, only cried for a couple of seconds. Dr is just going to keep a close eye on her head. He can't feel any bones over-lapping & because she is doing all the things she should be doing he isn't too worried at the moment :)

Allyeria has finally rolled over from back to front, she was getting frustrated at one point as her arm was getting in the way but when she finally did it she looked at me a smiled it was soo cute.
I am going to the target sale tomorrow and unfortunetly i have to bring jayden and allyeria with me. it will be jayden that will be annoying as he loves to grab everything and throw it on the ground. i dont have to get any of the big stuff or have to lay-by so hopefully it wont be too bad. Fingers Crossed!!!!

Hollo I remember you saying Hannah wouldn't take a bottle, At what age did she take a sippy cup?How is ahe going after her operation? Is her thumb all better now?

mo- yeah hannah would never take a bottle. she would have a sippy cup only of water (refused it if it had forumla or breast milk) at around 6 months. went through a million different cups and finally found she could manage the straw ones. she finally had cows milk in a cup around 12 months i think from memory. had to start off by mixing water and milk together then eventually she would take full milk. actually now that i think about it she wasnt drinking full cows milk properly until after i weaned her so after 17months.
her thumb is going really well. she had the bandages off last week and her stitches are just about all out now. she is loving being able to straighten it out. she can do thumbs up, and make a diamond when doing twinkle. LOL
i am thinking car seats atm.. chelseas hired capsule is due back in a month. plus hannah needs a booster. anyone got any opinions on hipod brand?

Thanks for the info about Hannah, i have a feeling Kodi will be the same way. I was thinking of weaning her at 6 months so i could back on my meds but i don't think that will happen.
So glad Hannah's thumb is better, must be a nice change for her :)

Thanks Linda will try them out, Kodi flat out refuses any bottle & the heinz sippy cup.
I can see i'm going to have a tough time weaning her early if i have to, Kinda hoping my U/C will stay in remission till she's ready to wean.

mo, i would really advise you to try the sippy cups that have the soft straw.. i cant remember what brand.. i think tommee tippee. apparantly it is easier for breast fed bubs to take to a straw cup rather than the other kinds of sippy cups.

I wish i knew you wanted an Ergo, i would of sent you mine. I never use it because it doesn't well on me. It's almost brand new as-well.

hi again all!! been mia again hey!! things here are still going day by day, feed by feed! some days are really good, others are bad! I loo firward to her not being windy and spewy and hence tired all the time so we can get some bedtime ritusls happening!
havent tried a bottle again here! Im in kinda 'Ill just go with being needed and take her everywhere! or duck out between feeds! next bub i'll be trying a bottle 4 - 6 weeks I think!
when can u try a sippy cup? ones i saw in supermarket were for 6m+. we're going to darwin on sunday so I thining shell need to have water cause of the heat. I know I can just use a spoon

mrsC, you dont need to give extra water while you are breastfeeding until about 6 months old. i think FF bubs need it earlier though. having said that i dont think it would cause any major issues if you give bub some cooled boiled water earlier in a sippy cup/bottle.

Mrs C we have the same trouble with Kodi, We have to feed for 5 or so mins take her off burp her & then put her back on to finish her feed. If we let her have a full feed she chucks up so much.
Heinz & Pigeon have sippy cups from 4 months, you should be able to find them at a chemist :)

oh ok!! thanks Hollo!! Susie had a good sleep. 10:30 till 6, then 8 till 10! unfotrunately some overseas person rang us at 4am but there was noone there when DH answered then alarm went off at 4:50!
its really nice now Susie isnt pooping multiple times a day! loely not to have to rinse eery nappy before we wash it lol!
hows Hannah doing with recovery? all ok?
Mo - hope you can find a way to get Kodi to take a sippy cup or bottle, and that you stay healthy long enough to breast feed her as long as you want?
just a question, do people have a plan for how long they are going to breastfeed for?

My plan is to get to 6 months, Then we will see how i am health wise. Either way i don't think we will go past 12 months because i can't see my Dr wanting me off my meds for too much longer.

My plan is to get to 12 months, i go back to work when she is 11 months so ill see how it goes being away during the day.
I love breastfeeding her, if she weans herself off before im ready ill be sad!
However im not looking forward to her getting teeth, i could see her having a big chomp!
Do you a big hormone drop when you wean them off?

It is an interesting question. I think my goal is just to see how it goes. I *think* we will make it to 6months (more than halfway there) and I will be happy with that but I hope that we are able to continue to 12months. After that it will just be a day by day thing. I am not going back to work/study anytime soon so that will be in our favour I guess. I just don't want to put too much pressure on myself about it. Immy is starting to get her bottom front two teeth and is already sort of grazing them against me during feeding which is painful... not looking forward to full on bites!
Hollo - it has been great to hear about Hannah's recovery! It must be so exciting to see her gain more use of her thumb. I hope you love your ergo when you get it, I have just started using mine and it works well for us!
Mo - I hope your U/C does stay in remission but good luck with the bottle and sippy cup.
Our sleep has been generally good although, these last few days have been a bit of a nightmare because of the teeth thing. I was really worried about her because she just didn't seem herself, luckily we had her 4 month needles so I asked the doc what he thought and he was like come look in her mouth! I couldn't believe it haha. Hoping that it settles down soon.. it is so sad the little grizzles she has been doing. She had her needles fairly fuss free and is now 6.5kg! Her head hadn't grown between her last two check ups but thankfully this time it was a whole 3cm bigger. They didn't check her length which was a little dissapointing because I was very curious about that... might have to pop into the MHCN haha.
How many of us have started solids? The peadiatrician said she seems ready because when she takes things orally, she doesn't try to push it out with her tongue... if you know what I mean? We have some farex sitting in the kitchen but I do want to wait till this teeth business has calmed down a little and see how her nights are going then. She is still feeding almost 2hrly during the day and is now up many times a night... so lots and lots of feeds right now!

I have been MIA as well lately, have got an exam tomorrow and then we head up north to visit family for a couple of weeks tomorrow night. I got a new ultra zoom digital camera and it was delivered today - so excited! Now i just have to wait for Alexandra to wake up from her nap so i can start snapping.
I'm planning to breastfeed for as long as possible. Going back to work when she is 9 months and don't really want to be expressing at work so maybe she'll be happy without a feed during the day by then and we can just do morning and night feeds. I'm a bit worried about teeth too - can see the bottom 2 starting to come up.
Mo - so good to hear that Kodi is doing so well and i bet that you are doing better too without as much stress
Hollo - Glad Hannah's op went well. DP was looking at one of the hipod car seats in target the other day. He was sold on the fact that it had drink holders and built in speakers for an mp3 players :D But i don't have any useful reviews to offer
MrsC - We have some sippy cups here that have 6mths+ on them but i reckon that they would be fine to use, haven't used them yet though because Alexandra is happy to take EBM from a bottle. Might try to start getting her used to them next time DP looks after her.
JB - Hope Immy's teeth start to settle down. Has she started feeding more because of the teething or has she always fed that often? We have just managed to extend out to 3-4 hourly feeds again, i was getting exhausted feeding at least every 2 hours

not sure cause i am not a sling/carrier user (yet) but i know the baby bjorn is one where you can were bub facing outward.

Just quickly, Jo you can put bubs facing outwards or inwards in a Hug-A-Bub, Ergo they face inwards unless you put them on your back & of course the baby bjorn they face outwards as Hollo said.
Not sure about other carriers.

Funkeefrog - Yeah, the night wakings are new but the 2hrly during the day has been pretty consistant since birth.
Good news is that Immy's first tooth has broken the surface so I think things will calm down a bit from here? It has been a bit of a nightmare because DP has been working double shifts, back to back (leaving at 5:30 in the morning and not getting home to 10:30 at night). I called my parents last night after she had been crying for 2hrs straight (even after panodol) and they came round and kept me company until DP got home... I felt completely defeated having to do that :(
I have another question... Imogen has been rolling front to back for a while but I've noticed she only ever goes over her left side (pushing off her right hand and foot), she never rolls over her right... is that normal? I tried last night to sit on the other side to encourage going the other way but as soon as she was on her tummy she was rolling over the left onto her back so didn't work out too well. I'm assuming it will come with time and it isn't anything to be too concerned over but just wanted to check with you expert ladies haha.

wow immy got her first tooth pretty early! hope the teething pain settles soon poor little poppet. hey jess, dont worry about asking your family for help, the way i look at it that is what they are there for! if my parents lived near by i would be calling them everyday! :-) i dont think there is a problem with rolling only on one side. to tell you the truth i havent noticed which way chels is rolling but i will pay more attention and get back to you. but i am sure it is just something she will learn in time.
oh my goodness, something is going very wrong in our house! LOL my little darlin will just not sleep! argh! she woke up at 7:30am (well thats when we got out of bed) for the day and i think she had about 2 naps of 10mins, during the morning then 20mins at 1pm then 30 mins at 3:30 and thats it! she is tired but just wont go to sleep and when she does will wake soon after being put down. i went through this with DD1 and it sux! LOL i hope her sleeping gets good again.
its really wierd cause i know she can self settle, she put herself to sleep about 2 weeks ago and now all of a sudden she cant sleep at all! maybe it is her teeth playing up too, she has a couple lumps under her gums, nothing coming through yet though.
anyway, better go. take care

JB Maddi would only roll one way for the longest time, then one day she started rolling both ways. My health nurse never said anything about it & now Kodi is the same only rolls one way.
Having kids is hard work JB you should never feel bad asking for help. There have been times where Kodi would cry for hours & nothing i did helped. So i've had to put her in her bassinette and walk away for a few mins just to calm myself down. Don't even get me started on Maddi lol
I promise the crying gets easier to deal with :hug:

yep, mo is right, babies (and big kids) are hard work and the crying gets to all of us at some stage or another, its normal.
oh my god! i got my ergo in the mail today and i put it on quickly to see how it worked. chelsea went in the front super easy! then i tried hannah on the back, super easy again! we went for a walk to the shop and it is sooo comfortable. chelsea woke from her 20 min nap, then i put her in and we went out for the walk. she slept the whole time. when we got home i had my hands free to get lunch for hannah and myself and then popped chelsea out of the ergo and into her cot and she stayed asleep. its a miracle! LOL
hmm.. well she is awake after 5 mins, so i guess something dont change!

Hollo the Ergo's are good, but i'm very tall & they just don't sit well on me.
It's great that both girls love it :)
If anyone wants an Ergo let me know, i would prefer it went to one of you lovely ladies than just sit in my cupboard :)

hi all,
well, ive been MIA for a while...lets just say i have had a very unsettled bub, so i have very little time to go online!
Most recently Amelia has had an ear infection/runny nose/cough/diarrhea...aaaah! its been really tough but i think were coming out the other end now!
next hurdle is to get the 4month needles...hmmm....
ive tried to read back a bit, but im not even going to attempt personals at this stage...but it sounds like theres lots going on...teething already JB? thats amazing!

Yep, the bottom front right tooth is already through the gum and I think the left one might not be too long behind. So we have finally got passed that hurdle but have hit another... I've got mastitus! So I'm feeling a bit like death right now but have started the antibiotics and with any luck it will be cleared up quick smart. Just when I thought I had the hang of this breastfeeding thing doh!

JB-Ouch on the Mastitis, I truly dread getting that & i hope that i never do. I don't know how i would look after 2 kids.
