sounds yummy nik but i think i need to stay away from really eggy type things eg quiches ( i presume the slice has heaps of egg?) DD1 has an egg allergy and i am really scared to give chelsea any!!! i need to do it just to find out if she does or not but i am a nervous nelly!!!!
-
I'd love the recipes FF! Will Pm you. :D
Egg allergies are scary Hollo.
-
Just emailed the recipes :)
Sorry Hollo, the zucchini muffins is a zucchini slice recipe so it does have egg in it - I only make it with egg yolks for Alexandra though and make ones for me with the egg whites. With an egg allergy are they allergic to yolks and whites? I don't really know much about it
-
If you use FB ff, i can be found at the same email address. ;)
-
bummer.. well i will have to bite the bullet and try her at some point. as far as i know they can be allergic to both but the whites are more allergic than the yolk. DD1 used to react to cakes etc with egg in it, then she progressed to being able to eat cakes etc (eggs baked in something) but hasnt had plain / straight egg as of yet!
-
Awesome food ideas everyone. Will definately give the zucchini muffins a go. She loves banana so will try that too. I gave her some chopped up sausage last night - it was a huge success last time, but this time it got thrown.
Junglemum - yep, fantastic playground at Plenty Valley. Always so busy!
Funkeefrog - thanks for all the food suggestions. The bread rolled up with Raffertys on it sounds like an interesting snack! Will give it all a go and see what she thinks.
Mo - Big hugs to you and hope things go back on track for you soon.
Hollo - Sucks to have an egg allergy. DD ended up with a rash after eating apples, but it wasn't anything scary, but it makes me cautious, so I know how you feel. I HATE biting the bullet!!!!!
And from me, well DD slept last night from 7.30 to 7 this morning so I'm feeling a little human today without the fuzzies!! But I'm going out without her tonight, a rareity, and she usually frets, but hopefully DH can keep her distracted enough. I need a night out!!!! Going to do a cupcake making course with the Crabapple Bakery, so should be fun!
-
Correlly- What a great night out, they make good cupcakes! enjoy.
I have hurt me knee at the gym and can't walk that well, so have been glued to my laptop! You must all be getting sick of me now. :p
Don't worry, in a little under two weeks i'll be peddling a bike in the depths of the jungle just to power the computer to send an email! Then i wont be as prolific a poster.
-
rofl, I can imagine you doing that Ange.
Thanks for the words ladies, they help a lot. Who knows maybe my old meds will help keep me in remission long enough to breastfeed for a bit longer.
Dr said it was possible not likely but possible.
-
Corelly - Those cupcakes sound very yummy, enjoy your little bit of "me" time.
JM - I have hurt my foot too and am limping around like an idiot. I need to see the physio and maybe a podiatrist as well but I have no idea how long it will take to get in to see one. I added you on facebook too.
So after coming to the conclusion that I spent too much time on BB this morning I went away and made a batch of banana muffins, we went for a swim in the pool, went to the shops to pick up a parcel, came home and opened the package of clothes and did a fashion parade with DD, had an iceblock and here I am again, back on BB :D
-
FF- you're little girl is gorgeous! Was checking out your face book pics! ;)
-
So Ange what's it like in PNG, hot & humid? What part of PNG you moving to?
Just want to be prepared for when i come visit is all ;)
-
OMG there are sooo many posts in the last few days to catch up on!
I will do my best:o
Mo - sorry to hear of your medication dilemma! Bf is so hard to give up and you have done so well. I feel for you and hope K helps make it a bit easier.
All those food ideas sound great - thanks.
KB - I'm with you in the "I want to quit work now!!" It is so heart breaking to say goodbye to bubs. By Thursday last week I was in tears in the morning and felt down all day. So many mums have to work nowadays but I often feel a bit jealous when I see mums walking their prams on my way to work.
As for having another baby - I'd love to but we have put our decision on hold until Jan 2011. I want a good gap for ease of the whole thing. I dont know if we have energy for another one.
JM - where is the count down at for trip to PNG? Hope your knee is better soon as I'm sure you are super busy with the girls and getting ready for the big move!
FF - Hope you are resting that foot to let it heal - sounds like you are pretty busy
To all - love the Enid Blyton books too - have hard covers (not A4) and cant wait to read them to her too! Books are still totally cool even in this age of increasing technology.
T loves our phones and we have barred internet hook up on our mobiles now as she was logging on to bigpond! Amazing how they get around the technology.
-
 at T surifing the net, go techno T! I do need a count down don't i? Maybe i'll make a ticker!
Mo- We are in the Ramu valley, half way between Madang and Lae. It is a tropical 26-30 year round with 3 meters of rain in the wet season. :o It's not super humid as a breeze generally runs down the valley. Don't worry, your bed is already made for when you guys visit. ;)

Hi everyone,
I am a mum of 1 beautiful baby girl just turned 11 months yesterday so countdown to 1st bday too :) I regularly read online forums but this is the first one I've actually decided to join in on. I am 35 and have just started back at work 1 day a week (which i hate doing!) I think i was born to be a fulltime mum...i love it. I'm still breastfeeding but have cut back to 3 or 4 feeds a day..mainly morning and night with 1 thru missle of day if she's lucky :) I live in Newcastle..where is everyone else from? I look forward to hopefully getting to know you all and maybe learn a thing or 2 cos its all still so new to me even a yr in!
-
Hi everyone!
Zenspirit - Welcome. I'm a newbie to this group too, but everyone is really nice and its great to have some mums to talk to with bubs of the same age. My DD is 11 months on the 27th. She is still breastfed and I'm a stay at home mum and crossing everything that it can stay that way! I'm in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.
I'm sitting here because DD is asleep and the quieter the house is, the longer she sleeps. I did manage to mow the lawn though! Last night I did the cupcake course and it was so fantastic, a great night out and now I'm all inspired to make DD's birthday cake. Poor DH had a rough time though with DD crying for most of the night, even calling "mama mama". Breaks my heart. DH ended up putting on In The Night Garden and plonked her on her beanbag and she finally fell asleep. I came home and she was still there because he was too scared to move her, poor guy. I've only been out on my own maybe three or four times since she was born so its all new to the three of us.
Hey, what's everyone getting / got for their LO's for their 1st birthdays? I'm thinking of getting DD one of those shells for outside where we can do a pool in one side and a sandpit in the other. We have only a little backyard, and its mostly covered over by a pergola, and she loves being out there. We've decided that every year, DH will buy her a special present from him, and I will buy a special one from me, on top of the joint present. What are you all going to do?
-
Welcome Zenspirit. We have a few other ladies who have joined this thread in the last week or so, you're not the only new face :D I am in CQ and am a stay at home mum as well at the moment. I have a very spirited little almost 11 month old little girl who loves to dance. I never even imagined that anyone would want to dance to the theme song from the young and the restless! but she loves to dance whenever she hears music and it is so cute. We are breastfeeding about 4 times a day too and generally still feeding to sleep.
Does anyone else still feed to sleep? It wasn't something that I was planning on doing and we had an awesome routine before we went overseas, then it got thrown out the window. I'm pretty much in the situation where I don't carry DD around too much or will need to go on some pretty heavy medication for my back.
SP - We have a phone lover here too. I gave her one of our old mobiles to play with but she prefers to play with ours because they light up
Corelly - I'm glad that you had a great time and in the grand scheme of things it sounds like they managed ok with out you there, probably not the way your DH was planning to get her to sleep but it worked. I posted b'day presents a little while back, we've got a bunnykins 3 piece plate/bowl/cup set, some books and a ride on toy. My parents have bought a sand/water tray table thing from toys r us - it's pretty cool, has an umbrella and cover for the sand
JM - just checked out your fb pics, your girls are gorgeous too! I just saw your ticker and can't believe only 11 days!
We're driving into town this arvo for the weekend, afternoon tea with the great grandmas and great aunties tomorrow will be the highlight of the weekend.

-
Mo - thanks for reminder re last years births. It truly doesnt seem that long ago. Remember how cranky and impatient our posts were getting around about now!
JM - OK so up and away so soon! Good luck with your packing. Are your DDs 'helping'?
Zen - Welcome to you! I am in Kilsyth Vic as you can see above. I cant imagine anyone will track me down from this forum but maybe I am too trusting. Has anyone got any stories about risks from identifying yourself on belly belly?
Anyway I have 2 big boys - both still at home - the oldest is working and the younger is doing VCE. I had them when I was 21 and 23 years so was considered quite a young mum at the time and looked like a young girl ( I seem to maintain a 10 years younger look for some reason).
I married a 9 years younger man and have just scored the best gift - a baby girl! Back at work 3 days as a Dual diagnosis consultant. Blah!
T is walking a bit, BF 3 times a day and 1 dream feed in mid night.
Hey did I tell you that T was kissing all the other bubs all over their bodies when we caught up on Monday!! They mostly cried which was embarrassing:redface:
I was hoping for a quiet girl so I could frown at the mothers of busy boys who came to push her. I had been on the recieving end of many frowns and judgements when my DSs were little. Alas the genes for "full on" did not escape my T!!
A fellow I work with said she sounds just like me - gorgeous, affectionate and FULL ON! Of course I would not call myself gorgeous but I am most ceretainly the other 2. She looks like her sweet daddy and is gonna be a mini me - HA
-
FF - sorry I forgot to respond to you! Have a lovely weekend with greats!
I still try to feed to sleep but it doesnt work so well now. I usually end up putting her down for a <5 min cry and she drops off soon afterwards. If she doesnt I pick her up for a tick and cuddle her then put her back down and say "Sleep time now!" and leave. Doesnt take very long at all. She only has the odd night where she needs more than that.
Corelly - Clam shells are great. T loves hers now.
We have a musical Lamaze octopus and a proper xylophone for T and some In the night garden and Little Miss Somersault (book) as we have the toy (from one of the boys female friends ages ago). Mum wants to get her an Upsy Daisy doll as my mum is determined to make her a doll loving girl ( as I was a tom boy and liked stuffed animals and cars, trains etc better).
-
Bron, i've met some great people off BB. I met Ange & some of Maddi's baby buddies.
Meet most of the local south east vic Ladies. So i only have positive stories.
I'll bbl later Kodi is climbing on the chair again.
-
Super P- Oh yeah, ALOT of helping. Bless their cotton socks. I too have met a few people off BB, i have made some great friends. The first meet up i went to i was so nervous, i wondered what kind of wierdos join a forum. (it was my first) To my surprise everyone was relatively normal! :p I admit there are a couple of people that i wouldn't like to meet, but it's easy enough to avoid!
I never say anything online that i wouldn't say IRL as i figure someone could easily figure out who i am. It is a public forum after all. Never know who's reading it. ;) I have 2 full on girls as well, sheesh, i know where you're coming from. I spend play dates making sure my girls aren't being too boisterous.
Hi Zen Spirit! :D
FF- Thanks. :D i think so, but i am a bit biased. i feed to sleep when DD will, but often she doesn't want to. I used to feed DD1 to sleep all the time. I eventually decided i didn't want to any more and we switched to cuddling to sleep, took a few nights, but she was good with it. Then eventually she was happy to go to sleep herself in her cot. She will get there, promise!
-
Welcome Zenspirit :)
Ange look forward to seeing u Tues :D
FF we still feed to sleep most times.
Corelly Maddi got clam shells for her 1st b'day & loved them.
-
Don't forget me! I am still around and trying to catch up but the group is getting so active.
Jellyfish - Imogen arrived on the 17th of March - 6lb 9oz
We are all coming up to first Birthdays, HOW EXCITING :leap:
We are doing well and have got 8hrs straight for a week now! No walking here but not really expecting it anytime soon (I didn't walk till 15months) so maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. She seems really balanced and can walk holding onto anything but I think she is a bit scared and lacking confidence so she needs more time I think.
 now back to read the million posts hehe
-
thanks for all the welcomes everyone :)
My little Z has been on her feet since 8 months and easily was walking round the furniture by 9 months...but thats as far as she got..i think also a little scared of stepping out on her own. You think 15 months is old to walk JF I didnt walk till 18 months..Im hoping DD doesnt take a leaf from my book!
DD also loves to dance and her favourite music is guy sebastian...little black box...lady gaga and the black eyed peas.
FF- i found it funny to read that your DD loves the theme to young and the restless cos little Z's ears prop up wherever she is in the house when she hears the theme to bold and the beautiful and she rushes to the tv and dances....what have we created!!
Corelly - my DD loves in the night garden too..i must admit so do i :) Her fav character is iggle piggle. Im thinking about getting adventurous and attempt to make a 1st bday cake for her...im sooooo not creative so it will prob turn out a big blob of blue. Im still in 2 minds whether to have a party...we didnt have a christening or anything along those lines so it would be nice to do something...but all the organising..Ahhh!!! time is slipping away :wall:
-
ZenSpirit - hehe anything that keeps these munchkins happy makes me happy, so if it's in the night garden then yep, I like it too!! For DD's birthday cake, I'm going with two sponges, one smaller that will sit on the other, all covered in pink buttercream icing with green tufts of grass around the bottom of each sponge. I've bought night garden figurines from the supermarket and I'm going to put them on top, wah lah! Night Garden cake!!! Hehe. I wasn't going to attempt Iggle Piggle's head - you're a braver woman than me!!!! We're not having a "party" as such, just a lunchtime BBQ with our immediate family.
DD is now totally out of her brace too, so YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Woohoo Corelly! Great news!! :D
-
Jellyfish, good to see you back in here. I have been thinking of you and Immy - hope that everything is going well in your neck of the woods
We had a fantastic weekend and little miss got to play with some other little people which she absolutely loved. She had a huge play in the rain and was chasing my cousin's DS up and down the side of the house on wet cement :o I am so surprised she didn't have a fall, but her walking has just taken off and they had such a ball splashing in the puddles. We also had a go on a slippery slide at a kids playground which she wasn't too sure about, but she got so excited watching another little girl go down it.
Corelly - That is fantastic that your DD is out of her brace. I bet she loves the new range of movement.
Hi to everybody else!
PS. SP - that is so cute that miss T was trying to kiss the other kids.
-
hi all,
good to hear that everyone is doing so well. looking forward to our first birthdays! :-)
just a few questions..
1) are you getting your bubs the swine flu shot? i dont know what to do about that?
2) are you gonna give them some choccy at easter? or are they too little?
3) do you reckon i can try chels on some watered down cows milk? or should i wait the extra month?
i am gonna make some cupcakes with hannah today and i am gonna give one to chelsea to try.. i hope she doesnt have a reaction to the egg in it.. it would be so good if she doesnt!!!! *fingers crossed*
-
Hollo, We will not be getting the swine flu vac, i wont be getting it for myself so i wouldn't do my girls.
I guess with the Choc it's really your choice, People give their 6 months old choc custard.
I think K will have a small amount granted Maddi leaves her any lol
Not sure with the cows milk.
Good luck with the cupcakes finger crossed Chelsea doesn't have a reaction.
Question for you Did Hannah have a reaction to her 12 month needles?
-
thanks for the answers :-) no, she didnt have a reaction to her 12 month needles. we had to stay in the office for 30mins though just in case. (you are asking in regards to her being allergic to egg and the MMR being made with egg and so can cause reactions??) we have the same issue with the flu shots however as she has pretty much grown out of it i dont think that would be a problem.
my gut instinct is not to get the swine flu shot (none of us get any kind of flu shot) but i really do worry a lot that they will get swine flu. its hard to know what do do when it seems that every GP, nurse etc has a differnt opinion on if it is safe or unsafe. ARGH!
-
We're not getting swine flu vacs either. We don't really come into contact with lots of people to be able to catch it.
No chocolate here on easter either. I just don't think she needs it and neither do I  We're going to go with a couple of new books instead. Although little miss seems to have a bit of a sweet tooth already - she managed to take the lid off a container and grab a chocolate biscuit and take a huge bite out of it in one foul swoop before we could do anything 2 days ago.
I'm not going to bother with cows milk as a drink. DD is quite happy to drink water all day, which I think is better for her anyway. I'm sure that it would be fine to give Chelsea some watered down milk.
Are you going to make cupcakes using the whole egg or just the yolk. Fingers crossed that you don't get a reaction.
-
well i was asking about the cows milk so i dont have to buy formula anymore. :-) we do mainly breastfeed but dont want to go much over 12 months with that. i did hannah til 17months and she didnt start sleeping better til after we gave it up. chelsea is constatly on booby overnight.
i think i am going to use the whole egg. the recipe only calls for one egg so it will be a small amount in the cupcake. i am nervous.
-
Yep Hollo that's why i was asking :)
Honestly i would give full cream milk if you don't want to give formula anymore. Heaps of mum add it to breakfast etc so i can't see it doing a lot of harm. Not like you'll be giving her huge amounts.
-
Hi Hollo :) Im in similar situation to you..still BF maybe 4 times a day..but if i go out for the day I will take formula with me..its just easier sometimes and DD does love it. I will put cows milk on weet bix in the morning but they do recommend whole cream (i only have lite in the house so i use that). I dont like the idea of replacing 4 feeds a day with cows milk though??? maybe thats just me! I have grabbed some whole milk when out and given her when i havnt taken formula..didnt have any issues. I actually dont think formula works out very expensive anyway! get a lot of bottles out of 1 tin!..My sis however who has 4 kids says when i stop breastfeeding DD can just have straight cows milk instead...none of her kids ever had formula. At least with formula i have my mind at ease that at least she is getting the added nutrients that the cows milk does not have added.
Sorry if i don't make sense i think i rambled :)
-
Hey everyone!
Hollo, I havent thought about the swine vac. Spose I should....
I wouldn't replace all her feeds with milk just yet. Stick with the formula or bm. But cows milk is fine in small amounts at this age. The recommendation is to not use cows milk as the main drink until 12 months or over. After this they only need three serves of dairy so bottles of milk aren't necessary. Just a drink in a sippy cup for lunch eg then the rest of dairy from cheese or yoghurt. That's just an example. I wouldn't even worry about watering it down but totally up to you!
As for chocolate, we won't be giving either girls any. I still think 2 is a little young for chocolate. She won't know the difference if she doesn't get it because we don't really do anything for Easter. Next year will be different because she'll prob be more aware of Easter so she might get a small egg. But that's just my opinion, I don't have a problem with other people doing differently. This is just the plan in our house :D
needles!! That came around quickly!!
-
I thought Hollo was just going to replace the odd formula feed with cows milk as she plans on b/fing to 12 months.
Anyways hope Chelsea's first cupcake went well :)
-
yep, i only give her a formula feed before bed and if i am out doing something DH will give her a formula feed. usually have to through a lot of the formula away cause you can use it after it has been open for 3 weeks! so thats why i was thinking i would do the cows milk thing.
she had a tiny taste of cupcake and she seems ok so far, might give her a bit more tonight and a whole one tomorrow! still nervous LOL
-
We have all had the swine flu needle here. Ella has the second part with her 12 month vaccinations so shell have to have four needles on the day, poor thing im sooooo not looking forward to the 12 months needles. All her little friends have been quite sick after them!!
Anyway i thought we should have the swine flu needle her as im a nurse i was worried about bringing it home to my family and exposing them
We have given Ella chocolate already she has had a freddo , she made more of a mess than anything. I have a little basket with a bunny on it and am going to put some little ones in it for her. I dont want her to have too much
Ella is 10.1 kg and 78.5cm this week, hard to believe how much she has grown the past year and we got walking everywhere yest, she has taken steps but yest she just took off
Sorry for the selfish post gotta go Ella is awake
I can get her to breast feed off me in the day she is such a busy body but shell happy drink in the morning and before bed so have been giving a bottle in the middle of the day anyways we bought some toddler gold to use after 12 months i didn't think there was much value in full cream milk for them, id like to know she getting some extra nutrients, its all so confusing
-
wgt Ella, Kodi is weighing in at 8kg lol.
We are personally gonna give the formula a miss & go straight onto cows milk.
I'll bbl girls are fighting again.
-
chels is 9kgs. when we weighed her the pharmacist said she is going well cause the norm is 10kg at 12 months. chels is only 11 months. having said that, i see plenty of kids way bigger than her and just about everyone comments on how little she is.
gave her a whole cupcake today and she didnt have any reactions. i am wondering if she just isnt super sensitive and didnt react cause there was only one egg in the whole mix. i wonder if i should make muffins or something with more than 2 egss in it and see how that goes. maybe that zuchinni slice! :-)
