Oh, yeah. I had labour brain ok! :p
I wasn't thinking about the dog when we named him!!!
I did say we shouldn't call the dog Jess incase we decide on that name for the baby, but it was so far off then. I was only just pg when we got her. We always had Jesse picked out for a boy, but when we found out he was a boy we couldn't agree on a name.
We thought we couldn't use Jesse coz of the dog, but we forgot. I wanted Kobi Andrew & had my heart set on it. Anth wanted Harley Kenneth. I liked it for a while, but nah... Anths step dad is Kenneth Andrew, so thats where the middle names came from.
I even tried to slip Kobi in just after he was born thinking he might get caught up in the moment & agree! It didn't work though.
I said how about Jesse then. He agreed, then she asked for a middle name. We had no idea.
I was in the shower a few minutes later when I thought of Andrew. I think they flow well together.

Prama - sorry havent had a chance to update it yet...
Basically they said that babies should be getting all of ther nurtients from the milk until they are 9 months... then they shouldbe dropping a feed.
Thats the resaon that Baby led solids is so great (so they day) as the food at the moment is about texture and taste not really about the food... so if you give them lots of different things to try all at once they can pick and choose.
You are not meant to use a spoon at all... they are to feed themselves totally, this way they learn from day dot to take in the ffod that they require.
Re fussiness the CMHN said that a baby will not intentionally let themselves starve, if you offer a full feed first and then 20 mins later a solid meal - and seriously it is exactly what you eat, like cassarole, or roast, its hard to get your head around at first but after watching the DVD it makes sense... basically you give them a small amount of what you are eating each time (other than whole nuts, rice, peas an corn that type of thing that they could chock on as they are too small)
The thing is, i have no idea exactky how much MJ takes each feed as i dont have a fluid gauge on my boobs :P so she may be drinking less at some times.
I will get to update the thread soon, DSS is here so i have been occupied ;)
Gill Ripley is the person that first founded it... check out this link, this is a short snippit of the DVD YouTube - Baby-led Weaning if you google it you should be able to find more...
The CMHN was saying that DR's and some health nurses will not recommend this way of feeding yet, (unless they have done extra training) as things change so frequently... but they should
Here is some more info on it. Baby Led Weaning | Is Baby Led Weaning the Best Way to Introduce Solid Foods? I would recommend trying to get your hands on the DVD - surely there would be somewhere to download it, it runs for about 20 mins...
HTH - i will update later, have to go and see what DSS is up to, its waaaaaay to quiet :)

Evening girls,
I did some exercise down at Stanhope Gardens with some other mums felt great for doing it then went to Big W and bought some great stuff on sale for DJ. Bought one of those teething feeders, so you can insert a piece of watermelon and close it up so they can't choke on the foods. I haven't tried it yet. I think I will need to think of something that won't create so much mess. I can imagine watermelon being everywhere....
Prama - yeah the girls are now doing exercise on Fridays at Stanhope at same time but I won't be there next week since we are going away on Monday for Byron Bay (can't wait!!!) and we will be back probably on Friday or Saturday night. but yeah my counting was all over the shop and I did the same thing with my aunty disagreed about how many months he was haha no wonder I started his solids early, wooops... haha he loves his solids.
Skye - awww how cute on puppies, I would love to say yes but we already have two dogs....
Teach - re: ecesma cream - I have been using goats milk lotion and I find that works well, so thinking I will get some goats milk soap for bath. I bought another cream but it works and then he has it back again, so doesn't work that great.... I was told goats milk is about the best you can do for it.
Well girls, better go, I am hungry so need to organise some dinner.

Hey girls,
Just relaxing with a glass of red watching So you think you can dance :)
Prama - I can't wait to get away and we booked a place right on the beach as well so I can't wait to get away. It is only 2 nights in Byron Bay. 1 night in Port Macquarie and then 1 night in Armidale or Tamworth on the way home. Hoping for nice weather. Going to bring some cooler clothes for DJ and going to buy some swim nappies in case the water is warm for Doni to take him into the water kehehe
Lisa - good to hear from you - are you lurking in the posts ;)
Well, better go....

Shell - Can I come???
It should be pretty warm up there. My mum lives half way between Coffs & Kempsey - Scotts Head & they are enjoying the warmth. Bum heads!
Make sure you've got your winter woolies for Armidale/Tamworth though! Its COLD! I'm about 3 hours from Tamworth & the winds the last few days are like ice.

I spent 5.5 hours at the hospital tonight coz of Jazz's cough. Was told that it's still the broncielitis and there is nothing that can be done. Just keep an eye on her breathing and if she still has the cough in 2 weeks then bring her back. I certainly hope she doesn't have the cough then...I don't fancy waiting another 5.5 hours to be told "keep doing what you're doing, we can't do anything"
They also said to bring her in if her chest starts sounding like "celophane crunching"
Ok girls, father's day is coming up, what are you getting for your men?
I haven't decided on a present, but I am going to get some paint and put it on Jazz's hand or foot and stamp the card with her hand or foot print. She will be exactly 6 months on Father's day.

Damn you Danni! Reminding me of another day I have to do things for him!!
Don't you hate that they can't help. Do you have a vapouriser? Maybe if you steam her up a bit, it will ease her coughing a bit.
MIL & FIL are coming over for the night tomorrow. Well if they can get MIL's car going. Looking forward to it. I havent seen them for a while. Can't wait to show Jesse off to them.
Its probably been 2 months or more since we saw them.
We are gonna try & get to some garage sales tomorrow too. I'm getting pretty desperate for a washing machine, but I want a big one.
I don't see the point in wasting my money on a small one when I'd have to do at least 2 loads a day - when I catch up again - in a big one.
I really really hope we get one!
Guess I better get to bed. Big day tomorrow.
Garage sales, then netball at 10. Then home to clean my bathroom & kitchen for MIL, then they'll be here after lunch. I'm glad I did the rest of the house today.
Oh, btw, Jesse's in his cot in Bri's room. I dunno how long he'll be in there, but we'll see how we go. I found the baby monitor I had for Bri, but its not working! :(
Anyways, Night girls.
I'll try to check in tomorrow, but will probably be busy entertaining.
Here's to Jesse sleeping through!!!
-
Yay!
Jesse went down at about 7.30.
He woke at 9.30 for a feed, then not again til 4AM!!!!
Then at about 7!
I'm so happy.
If only I went to bed earlier last night!
I should've known they wouldn't let me sleep in.

I borrowed a vaporizer from a friend (it was returned to her last week coz one of her DD's is sick). The vaporizer helped her stuffy nose but didn't help her cough.
She just drank a whole bottle, and then a few mins later threw the whole thing up. She wore it, I wore it, it went on the chair, the floor, everywhere. Had to give her a bath. It was even coming out her nose.

Hey girls,
I have been resting up a bit today and gargling Betadine Sore Throat gargle.... my throat is sore today :( hopefully it won't turn into anything else and hopefully DJ doesn't get sick either. Plan on taking baby panadol, vicks baby balsam etc just in case. I tell you what I was thinking of all of the stuff I have to pack for DJ and it will practically take up the whole car. Going to put everything out on the table and just check off what I need.... Can't bring my steriliser so will just wash the bottles in hot water....Just will have to makes sure I bring some toys and books, as well as something for him to play with in the car. Wish we could turn him around so he is facing us, but he is only just over 7kg, so can't do that until 8kg.
Skye - thanks for the weather heads-up ;) yeah we are doing coast on the way up and Doni wants to go inland on the way back. So yeah, will have winter woolies and cooler clothes just in case. I am hoping for some nice warm weather in Byron. Would love Doni to take DJ into the water. Shall see though.... Oh and great news on Jesse's sleep, you must have been totally wrapped. Hope you find a washing machine :)
Danni - poor little Jazz :( and all of that wait to be told that. Have you tried some Vicks Baby Balsam on her chest and back. I am not sure if it will help but maybe it will give her a good night sleep. Oh I wonder if it works the same in babies.... My stepmum said to put vicks on your feet then put socks on and apparently that helps a cough.... Maybe give that a go but with the vicks baby balsam???
Ahhhh a nice quiet night in for us tonight. Hoping to get to pole dancing tonight, shall see how my sore throat goes though, don't want to burn myself out and then be sick all next week.... that would suck.
Enjoy your weekend girls.

SJ - Yes we should catch up again soon. I will message you and we can work out a date and venue.
Our health centre told us to introduce solids like you said SJ but I can bring myself to do it! I am giving the food a quick zap of the bamix so that there are still lumps just not huge ones!
Danni - We found that the vapouriser helped relieve Caitlin's cough when she had bronchiolitis. I tried the vicks on the feet with socks but it didn't do anything. She did sleep alot better when on her side though so if she doesn't already sleep on her side maybe try it. I was nervous at first but we have an apnea monitor so if she was to roll onto her face and for some reason not able to lift her head we would be alerted pretty quickly.
Shell - There are a couple of girls in my MG that have just turned their car seats around and the babies love it unfortunately for Caitlin we are leaving hers rear facing until she is nearly 1 as the rules in America are that they have to be rear facing until they are 12 months so if we turn her around then when we get to the US we would have a battle on our hands getting her to be rear facing again. Also she is still only 6.9 kg's so still has a little way to go before we could consider turning her around anyway!

Hi all. No washing machines & no ILs yet. I could be up cleaning the rest of the dirty marks on the walls & doors, but my pelvis hurts again. I'll try to get it done tomorrow, but I'll probably hurt more tomorrow. They've been bugging me for a while now.
Got Jesse a cup this morning. Went to the 2 supermarkets here trying to find one with handles, but they both only had one type, without handles. It's a Heinz Baby Basics one. He's really enjoying that & his water.
Jaz threw a huge tanty shopping this morning. Anth handled it pretty well. It did get to him, but he didn't say the horrible things he normally would.
Would hang around & write more, but Jesse's a bit sooky. I don't think he slept long enough.

I just made 2 new purees with my new blender. Took me 10 mins to do the two of them. I made carrot and potato puree and apple and pear puree :) I was sooooo happy :) So put them in the freezer ready to use. Wooooohooooooo
Jo - yeah not turning ours around just yet and when we do, we will do all 3 cars - mine, Doni's and my mums car :) wow on the rules for US for them having to be 1 year old before you can turn around....
Prama - have a safe trip home, can't wait to see you and Poopy :)
Skye - sorry to hear no washing machine and you have your pelvis pain back again. I was going to suggest taking some nurofen plus but you are still breastfeeding. Have you tried taking some panadol? Hope the pain goes away for you.
Well I better go. My mum is due to arrive soon, she is going out with friends but staying here the night. Tomorrow she is taking DJ to her place for a few hours so we can get organised and have some time to ourselves. Thinking we might see a movie as well.
Ciao for now

Yeah, I always use baby balsam on her chest and feet. Will try sleeping her on her side though. I don't know how though coz I have her sleeping in her rocker to keep her elevated so I have to strap her in when she sleeps.
